I've mentioned this on multiple posts over the last 6-ish months, but I've been taking data since the release of Trickster and I thought with the release of the Artist and Jonah tomorrow, I'd share my data. So here ya go

The total amount of matches I've played since Trickster's release is 2,047

You've done good work, is it possible for you to show us the kill/pick rates for Deathslinger pre/post his nerf? The numbers that you have as they are aggregated just shock me, I've only seen him three times and he was mercilessly destroyed each time I went up against him.

  • @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

First the Nurse, the Doctor then Pyramid Head and now the Artist...

Doctor I can understand. It's only a debuff and it doesn't injure and Nurse requires actual skill.

But why on earth would you make another wall-ignoring killer? Then what's the point of chases? I can take projectiles ignoring palettes, but walls? Again?

I'm starting to think BHVR is running out of ideas.

What's the point of being able to break pallets if you're just going to give survivors 25+ of them per map?

These rhetorical questions are so overdone.

  • I typically main 110 speed killers, I tried bubba and found his chainsaw absolutely liberating and easy to mindgame with at loops due to my being accustomed to slower killers. I've been playing like a total ######### bag and loving it. My win condition is a 75% survivor disconnect rate.

I have ruined so many bloody party streamers this event.

  • Killers, especially the ones who understand the current state of the game, see some of the nonsense in this forum and feel like Bubbas is a fantastic way to dispense justice.

I've made so many people DC, even when they bring blood party streamers, it's been -fantastic-.

  • The ONLY issue I had with this killer was the chains interrupting you while you solved the box. That ######### made absolutely zero sense. Everything else was great.

i have no problem with someone not saying gg but people getting mad at you saying gg when you are genuine is just kinda weird

They're supposed to read your mind and be able to tell you're being genuine? Do you not realize that grand majority of the games are not GG? They're generally 0-1 kills or 3-4. Usually stomps, littered with DC's, BM, Sandbagging, and general fuckery the majority of the time.

Let the losing side say GG first, if that's too hard for people then again, they're not really being genuine about it being a GG. Alternatively, you can rack your brain for a comment that's more than 2 letters to express your appreciation for the other side.

  • Winners who say GG first are fairly tone deaf, especially given the often one sided nature of this game. If you think the other side is being a sore loser, that really speaks volumes about why you're saying GG at all.

  • "Where did his medkit go?"

Scratch that, PC blights are boring to go against. I’ve just been getting sweaty pc blights with their DPI cranked up, escaped a couple, lost a couple, he’s still boring to go against in the end. Idk why BHVR can’t just adjust his power to not be affected by DPI or to just adjust it to the maximum range console players can curve with it.

Would changing those things make him less boring, or are you really here crying for blight nerfs because he spanked you one too many times?

Man, I don't even understand how you can say something like that but back others up? Wow. It's like your biased only if killers have a hard time. So by this, no one has high mmr.

Again. No, most killers are already maxed MMR.

But you clearly have zero understanding how the system works. The second sentence of your first post disqualified you.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2656526#Comment_2656526

And I play killer a ton before mmr was even active and it keeps a majority of our mmr when it was finally kept. My point stands. 5k hours don't lie.

More untruths. It only kept the mmr earned during the 2 or 3 test periods where they turned the new system on.

Go read the patch notes dude, and YouTube some how-to-mmr-for-dummies. You have zero clue what you're talking about.

Sad part is I'd expect this to be a troll post if you wrote something more cogent.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

Did every killer 2 games each. Iridescent 1. Lost 6 matches total (3k escapes), Tied 2 times, 3k'd 11 times and the rest was 4k's the rest of the time. Played as Iri 4 Survivor with my dude and barely won with escapes while having the most points just about every match. Always had a survivor who would screw up the game. Killer is far from hard. I did the killer challenge without tunneling, camping AND with only 1 gen regression perk. No stacking Ruin with Pop. The games were pretty easy. If you're losing then it's probably your skill added with camping and tunneling just to win. This game is really balanced but 1 bad Survivor can ruin a survivor's team from winning. 15 hours of killer streams total and 5 hours of Survivor to show the difference and BOTH Iri.

You have zero clue how the MMR works, go read patch notes.

  • I played a game today where I was conveniently at the hook when someone was being unhooked. I was trickster, doing archive, perfect chance to riddle some survivors with knives.

Yun-Jin goes clicky clicky, look at me. Maybe to distract me from the unhooking, maybe because she wants attention.

So I give her attention. And I camp her to second hook and then down her immediately after and she DC's as I pick her up to whisk her away to the Entity's siren's call.

I end up 4king them, but the game takes a while. She is still in post-game chat, talking trash. I love trash talking, it gets my giblets ROCK HARD. I engage. At the very end I point out the weirdness that was her staying in post game to talk trash after disconnecting intentionally. She responds, and I ######### you not, "I'm queued up with a friend."

She clicky clicky'd and got the attention she so desperately craved, and then abandoned her friend, in the wise words of another game, Triumphant pride precipitates a dizzying fall.

I don't know felt like a good thread to share this story. Thanks, I upvoted you.

  • After reading several pages...I'm still having a very hard time imagining a person go "Bubba wearing Claudette's face?! This is the PERFECT outlet for me to share my subtle brand of racism."

    It's not blackface.

Bubba isn't performing the act for racist reasons.

You would have to really stretch the data available to you to accuse someone of using the skin in a racist manner (Because, you know, there are plenty of people who tunnel Claudette for OTHER reasons.)

And does anyone here really think that a racist puts on this skin and scratches their racist hardon? This last one is rhetorical I'm sure some of you contrarian nuts will chime in and say absolutely.

I have 4.500 hours in this game and no, you can’t hide from a killer

There are streamers (So, actual video proof) with more hours than you, and are quite likely better players than you playing against better survivors than you, who lose track of survivors.

It's a good thing no-one ever took anecdotal flexing seriously.

You can’t hide from a killer if he has more than half an hour playing this game

Yes, you can. That is why the terror radius exists. Do you think survivors just ignore it and sit on the gen every game?

  • @GeneralChaos said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2647262#Comment_2647262

A hide and seek design intention isn't reflected in the scoring mechanics, though. Hiding offers little reward; the scoring system pushes you toward getting into a chase, staying in a chase as long as you can and ideally, winning the chase by escaping. To get an iridescent Evader emblem, you need to accrue 880 points. Hiding, you can gain a maximum of 6 points a second, if you are hidden within 5m of the killer. The further away you are, the less you get.

But get into a chase longer than 15 seconds, and you can easily score 15-30 points per second. Make it last 30 seconds and you can score 36-72 per second. It goes up again at 45 seconds and 60 seconds. If you don't win the chase, you lose half of those points. So the scoring design here says survivors should run the killer for as long as possible, until the killer gives up and moves on to someone else. I know that's often not how it works out, because of Bloodlust and other assorted mechanics, but that's what the scoring system tells a survivor they should be doing.

It's a similar story with BP. There's no BP reward for hiding; the category is even called Boldness. Beyond the killer specific interactions that earn you Boldness BP (like cleansing demo's portals, disarming a trapper's trap, etc), it's basically down to chases and totems. Since there are only 5 totems in a match, if you want a decent amount of BP you have to get into chases, extend each chase as long as you can, and ideally stun the killer with some pallet drops.

The system does not push you toward getting into a chase. The system recognizes a chase is inevitable. Additionally, given that this is an asymmetrical game, the system also recognizes that you are supposed to eventually end up on the hook, not escaping every 15 seconds with a favorable tile set.

That is why the scoring is the way it is. There are exceptions, like instant downs and clever escapes, but barring brilliance this is still an asymmetrical game.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2648055#Comment_2648055

...You just explained a more reasonable nerf to give him, and then concluded by saying "no he did not need a nerf".

So, like, which is it? Which of those two statements is your actual argument here?

No hypocrisy here. I suggested an alternate change, but if they're going to make his 1v1 less oppressive they would absolutely have to balance his 1 v 4 more adequately. People have said this before, it is not a new thought.

He did not need a nerf.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2647900#Comment_2647900

You dodge in anticipation of the shot, thus losing distance if he chooses not to shoot, thus opening yourself up to an ADS fake hit. That was the entire problem being discussed long before the nerf actually hit.

And this could be completely corrected by putting a cooldown on lowering his rifle, or preventing him from raising it again/M1ing, instead they gutted him and made him shoulder his rifle slower than literally anyone who's ever used a rifle for more than 2 hours.

So the answer is no, he did not need a nerf. And to add my experience to the others above me, I've stopped playing him completely, and I've seen 2 Deathslingers since the nerf as a survivor, and he got ruthlessly stomped.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2647021#Comment_2647021

Time spent chasing is directly related to time spent looping. Killers like clown are designed specifically to stop people from running around pallets multiple times therefore are “anti loop” by design

This is actually completely false, because 1) Clown's power works in an open field as well, for a net gain, and 2) 'Chasing', or you know, being in a chase, doesn't always happen when a survivor loops tall structures. Depending on the strength of the tile you may not be in a chase for a very long time, even while you work to change their health state.

But this is getting a little off point now.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2646966#Comment_2646966

It is. Why do you think they make loops the way they do. Or during the most recent QnA during the MMR section they directly mention looping has no Impact on MMR

They are well aware and design the game around it

I think you're misunderstanding the MMR section. They're referring to time spent chasing. You could empirically quantify time spent in a chase, you can't quantify "Looping".

    Also, @WesCravenFan is right.

Well, not getting grade, not getting MMR progression because of few kills, not getting BP...so what's the point? The incredible excitement of repeatedly playing the same match over and over? I guess if one were a profoundly simple person, that might be fun.

I would assume the point is taking back the power role. Even if Bubba gets a single kill, the survivors cannot force a narrative in which they styled on the Killer. Bubba played exactly how he felt like playing, and the survivors either avoided him or met his chainsaw.

This is excluding the obvious existence of Bubba's that somehow don't have the skill to pull off a 1k against certain teams with this tactic. Yes, they exist.

  • @ukenicky said:

I mean.. A face camping Bubba who runs NOED is actually a problem. They can almost always guarantee 2 kills, sometimes even more from little to no effort.

I shouldn't be surprised that some of you are defending this though, you probably do this yourselves.

You fail to understand why we defend it. Much like Sluzzy makes ironic, survivor sided posts, the vast majority of the killer community that recognizes how weak killers are right now will spare no opportunity to troll people calling for more killer nerfs. It just appears more sincere and less trollish because, well, we have facts on our side.

I dislike victim blaming, but if the chainsaw fits, wield it.

  • Only flashlight macros. Partly because it's genuinely painful and partly because if they really lean into it you're going to get a head start on plying their butthole because they won't be able to immediately run if they don't turn off the macro quick enough >:)

  • Killers need a lot of love, but not this kind of love. Being able to approximate the windows of abilities and skills in games is a common metric to help elevate the better players.

  • @VikingDragonXii said:

As the title says the DC penalty system is a broken system because it also punishes players who have no control over the game when it crashes or losr connection to internet for a brief min.

3 times today I have had issues 1 time was the game and 2 others was my Internet Service Provider doing updates. Each time I received a DC penalty for doing absolutely nothing that I could prevent it.

These three times were my first times so the time wasn't so bad but it keeps going up with each DC and I dont understand is why your automated system cant tell a difference between someone leaving a match and losing connection to the server.....and now with the DDoS attacks that could make connections even worse for everyone, more innocent players will be punished for things out of thier control.

Turn off these penalties until that can be addressed and fixed because TBH it's not stopping the DCs.....I have had a total of 15 players quit on me because they didn't like I downed them or hooked them.

I dont want to all of a sudden get a string of connection issues and get booted from the game only to keep getting a racked up penalty.

You want EAC the game to be able to understand the difference between a dropped connection and someone pulling out their ethernet cord?

You are playing an online, team based game. You are responsible for your internet connection. If you are one of the unfortunate people that live in an underserved community that is a tragedy, but no one wants you on their team if you continue to DC - whether it is your fault or it isn't.

  • @ImBlissful said:

Camping in general is stupid and a buzzkill, but the worst form of this is a camping cannibal. Yes, I know the strat is to abandon altruism and do the gens, but should that even be considered a solution?

In the cannibal's mind, he wins either way. Best case scenario, he gets at least one kill, assuming that the one person is furious about it. Worst case scenario, he downs everyone because they can't let go of altruism.

He shouldn't get a win either way. A person like that doesn't deserve it.

All I took from this is you're upset that the Bubba BELIEVES he is winning.

That is more pathetic than the Bubba believing he is winning.

disingenuous? with what? you truly think you can escape a match when your teammates are not doing anything or let you die when you hooked?

i really wish you played in my soloQ games when im not playing with my GF lmao

but according to the web its not only me who is disingenuous

Correct, you are not the only disingenuous person, but you are disingenuous. You've boiled down a single smattering of games (Read as, insufficient data points) into a small little story where you can't possibly be wrong. How did you end up on the hook? Do you not know how to pre-drop pallets? Have you truly never won a chase or made a killer give up on you? Does your partner not know how to go immersed so that they can save you off the hook if the randoms on your team truly never do?

It sounds like you jumped two rungs deep into a logic chain and said, "Yup, I'm good here, I'll just start bitching instead of searching further."

I've never seen a killer who 'Didn't know how to kick gens' also give sufficient chase. I think the problem is you. I suggest you git gud.

  • @Underdawg said:

The killers you are playing against don't know how to kick a gen, but they're able to down you and prevent you from getting rescued?

This. OP is disingenuous and does not realize it's a numbers game. If they are truly gods gift to DBD, then they will get out more than they get killed, in spite of the 'baby Megs' they cry about.

  • Admitting to doing it is not breaking the rules, again, their must be evidence :). Also, key word on that is 'repeatedly'. I won't push the matter though, I've seen you be a stickler in other threads. You are certainly consistent.

It's literally specifically mentioned in the rules of the game.

    And they admitted to it.

You can admit to a lot of things and not get in trouble, and I'm referring to real world litigation. There needs to be evidence that he's done it, but that's beside the point.

Most killers will remember those special few survivors who are #########, and they will punish them accordingly.

  • @Pulsar said:

I'm pretty sure you admitted to breaking two separate rules.

    • If I remember you as someone who BMed me in the past, you'll get the strongest addons/perks I have available to me, and I'll do my level best to make sure you die first.

That's specific targeting in order to deny an enjoyable experience.

    • If you switch to items last second, I may suffer mysterious internet problems or find myself called away on urgent business. You know what you did.

That's DC'ing and we all know that's against the rules.

Lets not pretend like these are egregious offenses in the grand scheme of things. I am quite sure he will never be punished for either. Outside of DC penalty, anyway.

  • @StarLost said:

Don't worry, nothing too serious. We just need to establish some ground rules here. Feel free to add your own (curious what survivors have to say to killers).

    • If I patrol back past a hook on my way to the next gen, that's not camping. Neither is seeing you on your way to unhook and giving chase or catching you healing directly under the hook. I'll try not to outright camp unless I'm getting mauled, but I don't have to give you the unhook either.
    • If you want to play grab-ass while I'm hooking, don't complain when you end up getting hooked yourself.
    • If you are absolutely smoking me, consider easing up a bit. We all get less BP if you just slam out gens and hide all the time.
    • Similarly, if you have an early DC or are getting pulped, I'll probably ease up a bit and let you do some gens, heal and the like. If you just want the game to end, come to me.
    • If you BM (teabagging, flashing etc.) and I tunnel you down...well, you wanted my attention and you got it. Feel free to DC.
    • If I remember you as someone who BMed me in the past, you'll get the strongest addons/perks I have available to me, and I'll do my level best to make sure you die first.
    • This also goes for people who consistently abuse the possible pseudo-infinites on Badham, RPD and Haddonfield.
    • If you switch to items last second, I may suffer mysterious internet problems or find myself called away on urgent business. You know what you did.
    • Sometimes you'll get hit by a lunge that looked like you were clear. Sometimes I'll get hits that mysteriously vanish. We both have lag sometimes, and, since I don't control the servers, yelling at me in postgame is a bit pointless. Roll with it, we all get bad bounces.
    • I will bring addons sometimes. If you never bring toolboxes, medkits, flashlights etc. then and only then do you get to complain about them.
    • No, I don't have wallhacks. It's probably Discordance or Lethal Pursuer.
    • Be aware that blood pools and scratches leading to a locker is sort of a give-away.
    • Lastly, be aware that there is a living, breathing human being on the other end of that spooky avatar, and I'm trying to have fun with you in a frustrating game.

    How about you?

I like most of these, but I do not let survivors who walk up to me out of the game early. Especially if noone DC'd prior to that. You don't get to leave early with some bloodpoints if you're willing to tank your team. You can DC to get out, or I'll slug you and make sure you die last so that you get out lost.

And throwing up on people for like 45 seconds when they're the last survivor and on the ground after they were cute enough to teabag at several pallets has to be the most rewarding fantasy this game has offered yet.

Have I said anything about the survivor meta being healthy for the game? No.

Majority of survivor meta perks are unhealthy for the game. Hell the perks are just the beginning, the core design of the game is flawed as it requires all 5 parties to essentially roleplay.

You didn't, and I didn't say you did so the rhetorical nonsense is unnecessary. I said it. you drew such a small box I felt it needed to be brought up. Pretty annoying when people go, "Yeah, but Deathslinger was unhealthy." Like they can't consider more variables than "I, individually, am not fast enough to dodge the quickscope therefore it must be nerfed."

And that is even disregarding the fact that there is a huge swathe of the player base (Admittedly, the better players most likely, or at least those who have played DS enough) who understand that dodging his spear gun is more than just zig-zagging and knee-jerk reflexes.

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

Folks say it didn't correlate to skill but I played a hell of a lot of survivor and never once got to red ranks without playing with my friends. Solo rank 1 survivor was a nice goal to strive for.

It's just kind of a bummer that I don't have the slightest conception of how good I am compared to the populace at large. Except how many meta perks I go vs., I guess.

Unfortunately not even the perks are a good indicator sometimes. You can always face a low-ability SWF that knows how to google.

That should be a red flag to you and maybe it's time to play a different game, or seek professional help?

Nope, I have tons of fun, and I'm rarely stressed, if ever, when I play this game. But we all know why DS got the nerf, survivor bitching. I'm just giving them something more valid to direct their ire at :)

    It was deserved

Just because something is weak, doesn't justify it being unhealthy design

Yup, it's that kind of unhealthy view point that has created a meta where only 3 killers are viable in the upper echelons of play. Now it's just unhealthy design in the opposite direction.

  • Nurse and Plague.

The only thing I regret is losing the flavor I loved, but in terms of performance I'm making survivors far more miserable than I was playing DS, and that is definitely my intent after they needlessly butchered him.

I believe you don't play against Franklin's Demise. I doubt you've read the other comments as well.

A condition to the perk wouldn't affect the perk's value. It'd still make your time drop, it'd still make your item lose charges, it will ONLY give the player a little chance to take their item back before its charges gets lost. I don't play with items much because of this perk.

I already said this again, but this is the problem if you wouldn't read all the comments: The way this perk can be getting rid of your item is ridiculous.

-> A situation: you get hit and your item is dropped, you are in a chase but you got downed. You get hooked immediately, by the time someone unhooks you and back to take your item back, the item is completely unusable by this time already. It's not fair for the survivor. Instead, if the item would drop once the chase ends and you're getting downed, you'd have more chances to take your item back before it's unusable.

You're wrong. I do play against Franklin's. Hell, sometimes I even use it, thought not as frequently as you'd have some people believe about killers based on the gripes in this thread. I also read the other comments, and I disagree with most of them, except for the ones that correctly ascertains that BHVR already made a pass on this perk and they're not going to revert it to something worse than how it was originally.

You are misunderstanding me. The way this perk can be getting rid of your item is AWESOME. It gives the Killer a modicum of his power role back. I, and many other players who partake of the Killer role, like it like that. It is one of the few things that demand a survivor's respect, save for a 4 man SWF that will put down their own item to preserve another's who is in a chase.

Your situation doesn't matter, alternative: A killer juggles your health state and moves on to a new chase, you go back and you grab your item. See? Committing to a single player comes with upsides and downsides, he's going to lose some more gen progress and you're going to lose your item.

There are several ways to conveniently counter Franklin's Demise; Bring front-loaded items, drop items you don't need temporarily, and one I haven't heard yet, reduce the # of items you bring as a group to disincentive the killer to bring Franklin's. I won't waste a perk slot for 1-2 items, but if I see 4 survivor's running med kits you can bet your sweet patootey I'm rocking Franklin's and I'm get a bulk order discount on their health states.

Let me ask you something. Survivors that will teabag and clicky clicky at every single stun even if the killer won't avoid it. How old are you? 13 years old? I refuse to believe you are older lol.

If it's getting inside your head to the point where you had to post about it on the forum, then it most likely affected your gameplay. This is usually what they're hoping for.

  • Franklin's is fine. It's one of the few scenarios where a Killer can bring a tool that allows them to assert themselves as the power role.

Remember kids, items are optional. Me thinks you're getting too accustomed to always having them.

You mean your terrible example of one of the survivors not running a meta perk? Yeah lol. I saw it. That isn't the argument you think it is. If a perk is strong enough to replace the already obscenely strong survivor meta perks then that means that perk is also obscenely strong.

Or it means it's a shortsighted decision in the name of flavor of the month, you know, that thing that always happens when a new toy comes out. Maybe you should stop respecting the DS and BTs that are there less and less and start enjoying the consecutive hooks.

But thanks for going back to actually read it this time :)

Is it really that hard for you to understand ? You hit a survivor and have to chase. If you leave them go. They heal up in a matter of seconds. Boons absolutely make health states obsolete

Anecdotally, because you're having a hard time with this, in a recent game I identified where the survivors set up there boon and I waited until I had a tag on three of them before I followed them and snuffed it out. They proceeded to fall apart because I had them all in one corner of the map and no gens were getting done. Open season.

Again, I get that they're strong and need some work. They're not broken, health states still exist and the more resources they bring to prop up multiple boons the more exposed they become to other strategies. Calm your tits.
