At a certain skill level, Blight, Nurse and to a lesser extent Huntress would likely qualify as overpowered - but not as OP as people make them out to be..
- Nurse can be very streaky and some maps are annoying for her.
- Ditto Huntress.
- Blight is strong but depends a lot on addons.
Underpowered? I'd say Trapper, Wraith, Cenobite, Legion and Pig.
If you want to see a neat experiment, Otz's stream yesterday was him playing every killer without perks and giving survivors a 30 second head start.
What the results seem to indicate:
- The killer experience depends heavily on map and RNG as to where survivors spawn/how fast they get onto gens.
- At the MMR 'cap', matchmaking becomes silly.
So I was going to look into this at some point, but conveniently enough he made a youtube video covering this experiment with 2 others that he did just to see how it all went on average, mainly to make a point that the game is mostly 'balanced' in a convoluted and twisted way.
This thread and Otz's video has given me a lot of clarity on how the game really is as a whole.

These answers so far are extremely varied. I both love and hate that.

People can also find things fun for reasons they can't explain in detail. Most people like a food because "it's tasty". Most people like a joke because "it's funny".
Plenty of people will do something because "it's fun" and ultimately that's the reason. Its fun.
Also it's a public forum and they answered the question. You not liking the answer doesn't mean they can't speak.
I’m of the belief that everything has a reason behind it and that it can be broken down into smaller things, and that includes subjective experience.
But yes, they are free to answer it how they want. I simply gave my opinion that a more descriptive answer can be made, which they can ignore if they want.

Fun is subjective.
You might not find camping fun, but others do. Just like how some people don't find farming fun.
You guys should probably keep in mind that someone can still have a reason behind their subjective idea of fun. , People aren’t obligated to share those reasons, but actually sharing them is the point of op’s question anyway, so if you don’t want to share a reason, it’s better not to say anything.

It's probably the salt mining that they find fun. Insidious Bubba is fun a few times if people actually fall for it, but it gets old fast
This is most likely. Another possible answer is that the camper is bored with the game and/or with life, and they’re taking a nihilistic and/or spiteful approach with it.
-
Oni and Pig are pretty much always fun for me. Apart from those two, sometimes Hillbilly, Legion, Nurse, and on a good day, Blight.
I know this isn't part of the question, but a game in of itself is pretty much always fun if you know you performed well, though tbh I'm still slowly getting over the times of really stupid messups on my part or lucky hits that killers can pull off.

But why is it not fun? It's not fun because of some made up concept in your head that, that is not how the game is supposed to be played
What about the Bubba player what about his fun? How is the Bubba ruining anyone's fun? You get to slam gens like you want to and get BP and the person on hook gets to watch YouTube video or something I'm lost here
See the whole problem here is made up ######### in your head there is no right or wrong way to play the game why do you believe the Bubba doesn't deserve the kill he found you and downed you fair and square is that not enough to deserve the kill oh let me guess he has to hook you all at least twice to deserve a kill is that it?
Stop thinking about it with imaginary concepts here are the facts about camping
The Bubba found someone and downed them, he camped then, they are more then welcome to kill themselves and move on to the next game or wait and stall time for you guys, you guys are more then welcome to do gens and totems and everything else
How does any of that sound like someone trying to ruin your fun?
How do you know they are doing it maliciously you don't you are just imagining that dude
In my mind, the only two probable reasons a bubba plays like that are these:
- bubba is lazy and bubba just wants a free kill for a challenge or something
- bubba wants to take enjoyment out of the game for others, because bubba knows that it is an easy and infamous way of doing so
Sure, you can call them a made up concept in my mind because that's what it is, and you can call my shpeal a bunch of made up doodoo, but I'm not the only one who feels this way. It is indeed based on the fact that fun is subjective, and it is based on morality, but knowing that, and in spite of it, I'm not the only one who thinks like this.
My whole problem with it is that it is a COMMONLY HELD subjectivity.
In other words, I don't like camping bubbas because a lot of them PROBABLY do it to troll, and it takes away from the fun of the game. I am assuming (and I'm probably right) that there are many people other out there who have the same opinion.

It'll never be changed cause anything you can think of to fix it can be abused to hell and back believe me they've tried a number of things of the years to me personally it sounds to me like you are just in your feelings hard over this
If you play swf like you say you do you should be stomping most your games unless your bad no offense, why do you feel the need to win every game? Why can't you just be content playing the game even if you lose
As for the person on the hook gee idk ever heard of reading a book or looking at your phone I find these are things I do while waiting for the rescue and it costs you nothing your already just waiting no offense
I keep repeating myself when I say it's not about winning or losing according to the game. I'm not way in my feelings over that specifically. I don't care about that aspect anymore and I haven't for a while. I'm a way better killer than I am a survivor.
Again, what I care about is wasting fun. What I care about are people who are a-holes with their playstyle. It's not fun to win OR lose against a camper who actively seeks to ruin fun for anyone else, because it's not fun to play against them at all regardless. How many times must I say this?
Ironically enough, the person on the hook is not usually the one who gets upset. It's the people who want to save them because they believe the killer doesn't deserve the kill.
As a slightly unrelated sidenote, swf doesn't automatically imply doing better than in doing soloQ. Usually I'm better in soloQ because, as mentioned earlier, I work better alone. I just end up playing more swf because my friends and I play together often.

Sounds like a you problem and not a game problem. BHVR can't go changing the game simply because you and your pals don't have the skill and knowledge to beat a camping Leatherface.
We know how to beat it, and we can beat it. That's not what this is about. It's about a significant amount of players not wanting to go up against people who actively want to ruin fun. It's not about winning or losing according to the game. It's about the fact that campers have fun by ruining the entire experience for others and making it feel like a waste.
It can be considered a game problem is if BHVR are empathetic about the fact that it indeed is a "you problem" for MANY people. Though, like most game devs, they don't clarify on their take on specific things like this, and given the fact that changes aren't being made for it, they are either ignorant about it or they don't care.
Another reason I made this thread is based on the slimmer of hope that they actually do care about the number of people who also care about it. I'm not going to settle for how things are if I feel like there is a chance of being able to influence change. Is that not one reason for forums to exist in the first place?

I am of the belief that, barring any active rule breaking/cheating, players are not responsible for making sure that their random online opponents are having fun because the standards of what might be considered "fun" can radically shift from person to person. The camping Bubba is not obligated to care about the fun their opponent is having and vice versa. The only thing that matters is that no one is cheating or breaking rules. Beyond that, how each player wishes to handle their game is up to them.
As far as this particular issue, the solution is generally the same as it would be with other camping Killers: Gen rush and force the Killer's hand. "I don't want to potentially give the camping Bubba the satisfaction of successfully killing someone" sounds to me more like a personal problem of yours because that is the standard you are holding yourself to.
That's essentially what it boils down to, yes, it is a standard I hold myself to. Also, given that in 99% of the game I play survivor I'm a swf, it is a personal problem of mine when it negatively affects the friends I play with. It brings down the mood because we're all of the mindset that killers don't HAVE to be like that, but they make the choice to do so.
I fully realize it's a mindset thing, and that I can't change the way anyone else reacts to campers, including my friends. Unfortunately, that's part of the problem for me, because I care very much about how much fun we're all having, and I'm going to make the assumption that there are many other players who feel the exact same way.

Nothing is fun for everyone.
On a macro level, the fact that "fun" chases are deleterious to a killer's overall objective is a contradiction.
So then, are contradictions fun?

@PlaysByShady said:
I've said this before... survivor mains who keep crying about how killers play, and asking for more 2nd chances (DS, BT, boons that allow everyone to hide scratch marks, heal themselves, pick themselves up, etc, etc), as well as mechanics to prolong chases and do gens faster, are literally forcing the killers to play in the only way they can where these multitude of effects can be negated... of which tunnelling and camping is one.
You cannot expect killers to play by the imaginary survivor rules, that's plain stupid. But unfortunately that's where the game is going (or at least making the survivor rules something enshrined in gameplay with all the counters they get to killer abilities). Killers are obviously going to react accordingly. You can't blame them... they weren't the ones who brought the imbalance!
The funny thing is, I'm not even a survivor main. I play killer and survivor equally, and I've noticed really annoying imbalances on both sides. On top of that, at the end of the day, I'm still going to have more fun playing as killer because I'm someone who does better when working alone.

Why does it matter what the troll considers a win?
I initially made this thread as an opinion piece made on morality.
To me, as well as to a solid group of other players I'm guessing, the thought of someone who enjoys making the game boring/unfun for others with nonstop facecamping is not a nice one, because in my own opinionated and morally driven experience (which should honestly be encouraged when playing a GAME for entertainment purposes), I don't like the idea of bubba campers giving themselves a pat on the back for the mere idea that they could be ruining others' fun.
My point with this thread is that, based on my own personal standards of morality when it comes to playing games, people who seek enjoyment out of the perceived suffering of others should have to find enjoyment in something less pointless at best and less harmful at worst.

If he gets one kill and the other 3 get away then no, that's not a win for Leatherface. Get over it. This subject has been beaten to death. If you can't let go of altruism then who's fault is that?
you're missing the distinction between a win according to the game and what everyone else thinks, and a win according to a troll who wants to upset people

I legit used to get mad at survivors putting up any offering, whether it BP offerings, which I took as them being cocky, or luck offerings, which I always responded to with "y'all have enough luck already!". It was so silly. If people would just be constructive and not think "everyone's out to ruin my day" when going against people who clearly aren't, there's way less frustration and more room for self-reflection.
I agree with this mostly, but it's hardest to do this in situations of things like killers tunneling and camping survivors.

@Voodoo101 said:
This thread has ended up like all the other threads on campers and tunnellers.
Lets just get down to the nitty gritty. As a survivor it is a pain being hooked, chased, hooked, chased, hooked and then killed, with no time to do anything else. Its also a pain being hooked then waiting for the save that never comes because the killer is there ready to take vengeance on anybody who dares to come close.
On the otherside, sometimes this is a necessary evil and part of the game. If the killer is new and matched with some expert team, or if the team goes mad with flashlights or boons. Survivors can't moan at the killers for trying to win anyway they can, just like the killer can't moan when the survivors play the way they do to win.
There will always be people who want to have fun by spoiling things for others, it happens in every walk of life. The game is the game, either accept it or move to another game.
But does winning by ruining others' fun necessarily HAVE to be how this kind of game works? Do you think the general player base will keep playing if it stays like this, especially if an alternative game comes out that sees it as bad gameplay?

Why you being so ######### patronising?
I don't mean to come across that way...I am asking what you mean when you say toxic because people have different interpretations of it, as this guy made pretty evident:
@danielmaster87 said:
Body blocking and blinding isn't toxic. Being toxic means clicking, tbagging, and saying GG EZ.
The things you and he both mention are things that some people will end up doing regardless, and I feel you should be aware of that, and it won't help your experience to complain about it when it happens. I'm not trying to say "get over it" either, because I don't like those things either. I'm just saying that they're just thing that people will inevitably do and it would help you to think about them differently or ignore them entirely lest they drive you mad and make you want to quit the game.

Read and you'll see what I put.
Here.
Okay so I missed those out. I keep getting survivors that do all of the above, combined with ganging up and taking turns blinding me whilst I'm trying to hook, whilst also blocking the hook and teabagging. So yeah, I think that is pretty toxic.
I read what you said, and reread it. They body block you and blind you, and you have a problem with that. Why are those things toxic to you? What does the word toxic mean for you?

What makes the first things you mentioned toxic in your eyes?
-
When I'm pig I try not to do that all the time because I know how mean it is. To be more specific, on the occasions that I do target those with the traps on, I still make sure I give them the time to go around to at least two or three of the boxes and distract myself with other survivors and gens in the mean time.
I can't speak for those who do tunnel regardless. What I can say is that I don't like them either. They can call it a legitimate competitive strat, which obviously it is, but it also adds to the huge dumpster fire of reasons why people think the game is unfair in a multitude of ways, and in turn, why MMR is a bad idea for a game like this. That's just how I see it though.

I would rather have to reload twice than be down on purple any time I want to TRY to use Yellow. As it stands, Yellow is super crummy BECAUSE it takes away from your purple supply.
Why not just separate them entirely, have 4 purps and 2 yellows?
-
Are the devs actively keeping up with this thread?
-
Yeah I should have clarified, it's only in lobbies.

I see, thank you...I looked it up multiple times and couldn't find it anywhere.

Here's the thing about perks like this. Sure, call them an incentive for not camping, but honestly that's a pretty low-set bar to begin with. Coupled with the fact that all perks are optional to have on any killer, arguing solely for that incentive is like supporting killers who say "I NEED to have a perk like BBQ and Chilli or else I WILL be a jerk and camp all the time!" To me, there's very little excuse for a low bar like that.
Additionally, four seconds is a long time for exposure. Yes, there are counters, but they are very specific and take a lot of practice. It takes a LOT more time and practice for a survivor to counter BBQ and Chilli (on its own, mind you) than it is for a killer to "master" it.
You know what I propose for an alternative incentive perk? A survivor perk that significantly increases gen repair speed when the killer is within a certain distance from a hooked survivor. Call it "from a safe distance" or something.
As for BBQ and Chilli, nerf it. Hex would work. Otherwise, make it 3 seconds instead of 4 with no additional bp.
