Yeah, I absolutely don't understand why the devs are favoring survivors with the current incentive if there's a clear lack of killer players right now. Where's the incentive for those players?
Hypothesis ...
They've said the "incentive" would vary for each individual.
I got the survivor incentive but their statistics know that after some hour I only play killer.
Maybe they expect to be able to "sort" people out. As far as I'm concerned, they expect wrong.

The blood points jesus, I have only lost 2 games as solo survivor today, one was a DC, and one was a possible hacker.
I would normally reply I don't care about bloodpoints but now that you mention it, they finally have some use.
It's true I've managed to kare a few hundred k but it wasn't very enjoyable. I had more fun with the M1 killers.

I think in the video he did mention some exceptions may be chars you poured hours and hours of work into and they have tons of items and add-ons. You may have overlooked that. He used Haddie as a main example because she just came out and it was very unlikely anyone dumped a lot of work into her, so she was the ideal candidate to Prestige for the survivors.
Would it be a case of only listening to half the explanation?

There is currently a 100% BP bonus for playing survivor, yet survivor queue times take forever and killer times are instant. Should be the other way around?
I've tried a few games like that. My queue were also longer than for killer. (And the games were all utterly miserable, but that may be just my luck.)

I believe the distance addons are the strict minimum to go through that thick wall.

It is progression just an awful way of implementing it. If an FPS locked using my pistol until I hit a certain level I would be pretty pissed. Perks are an essential mechanic core to the game. Locking using them behind a level cap is just poor design imo.
I was about to simply say "it's not an FPS". Given the asymmetric nature of the game, there is no "pistol" to speak of.
But when you think about it BF has got something similar for a long time: you start with crap and you progressively acquire better stuff that gives you an actual advantage (and that you have been against since the start)
For the sake of argument, let's assume you manage to find a solid counter to this and that I see the light. ("I" being anyone thinking a bit like me). Given how fast these 20 levels go, I don't believe it's worth spending resources on it.
-
Indoor maps?
That being said, your proposition is reminiscent of a bird of prey.
If kind of feels like sort of a Nurse, but from "the sky", and with collisions. It would need to "float" at least at window/pallet level or above walls. (Which was the first image I had, hence the "indoor maps")
I may be seeing something very different from what you have in mind though.
I believe that before thinking of its counter-weight (e.g. a cooldown) its power should be fleshed out.
Power -> counter for survivors -> counter-weight to balance both.
-
It's not exactly news. The survivor side is way more chill than the killer's.
I wouldn't call it boring (even if it's quite tempting) but unless the survivor is always in a chase, the action is mostly QTE (a.k.a "skill checks").
It's probably why streamers tend to spice their game "trolling" or some variation of it.
I quite enjoy the survivor experience myself, most of the time. The solo queue is a pain sometimes.

The real progression of DBD is unlocking teachables. Putting new players or players playing a new character at a flat disadvantage that cannot be spun in any way other than negative is a really really ######### way of implementing progression.
Anything where the number increase is progress: level, perk count, perk level, devotion, ...

Why? It literally incentivizes the most boring and obnoxious playstyle in the game: camping
SoloQ is literally screwed if the Bubba decides to insidious camp in the basement because no one can tell you that he is camping in basement. My rework idea might be bad but I want the perk to be changed to make it more interesting and useful other than camping.
Only to those who lack imagination, and that perk used for that purpose only helps them against beginners.

Such a pathetic excuse to quite the game over one perk that has almost no counterplay.
It had, except for distance. But it was downright cruel for M1 killers and so it needed to be fixed.
The new version will not be as bad but may still be ridiculous. (Although maybe for other reasons. 🤣)

I find that survivors who never play killer can be really quick to accuse killers of cheating because they don't have any understanding of what context clues the killer has to work with, how a lack of info from an info perk is sometimes as telling as having info from that perk, what survivors often do in certain situations, minute audio cues, etc.
Stuff like this makes me pretty leery of the floated automated report system.
A survivor who had never played killer once told me Spirit was a teleporter. It took some time to explain what's what.

You are looking at it wrong.
SWF gives no advantage.
Being solo gives you a disadvantage.
The powerlevel of SWF is what it should be. Balance discussions should be about Killers that are too weak / disadvantaged when playing against SWF and solo Survivor players having too much of a disadvantage.
🦆🦂
Thanks for the videos and timestamps.
It's a nice spin too, even if it means the exact same thing in the end: it's all about the imbalance and the weakness of so many killers and solo survivors.
Thankfully, it appears the devs are trying to make these better. I for one am eager to let the Nurse aside for a bit to try my weakest killers in 6.1.0

It's a discussion forum and people discuss whatever DbD subject they like. It doesn't mean you have to like it too.
"Worked out" is superstition.
The devs have used their statistics to get accurate numbers.
These same numbers give the Nurse a low pick rate and the lowest kill rate. (Granted, we've got Sadako since ...)

@TragicSolitude said:
Survivors have to play expecting the worst-case scenario: that the killer can stomp them. Gen rush is how you escape, and escape is what rewards that big 5k chunk of BP.
It's just like killers who go hardcore and stomp survivors at 5 gens left. They're afraid to pull back because the moment you do 3 gens pop and you find yourself losing. Snowballing is a big part of this game. It's worse for survivors though who can find themselves eliminated in a heartbeat having earned nothing.
Yep, sometimes flipping from dominating to losing can happen in an heartbeat.
The survivors can get several downs with a mistake, and a few gens can suddenly pop.
-
One way to fix cheating would have servers checking basic data like speed, perk frequency, perk change, EGC duration, ...
I can't wrap my head around how the EGC can "not end" and some creep can take the game hostage. (cfr CoconutRTS matches)

I think most people rarely ever experience a basekit Nurse, they don't realize that she's not all that strong when she doesn't have ranged addons. Her ranged addons are 100% a problem, they need to be completely removed because they are too strong. The next most popular would obviously be green recharge/purple ranged, and again, I don't think green recharge should be nerfed on account of ranged addons.
Second would be recharge addons. I think recharge addons bring her somewhat closer to her old basekit, and I think that you also rarely encounter a double recharge Nurse, who will play more aggressive/play more risky in a chase because of them. Double recharge I think is probably fine, however I would also nerf them and simply give her a 30% recharge as basekit, or just the same amount as green/yellow recharge, depending on what the addon nerfs look like.
I think a lot of people who hate Nurse, or people who play her against bad survivors, have this opinion that she's super easy and that anyone can do it despite the fact she was the least picked killer with the lowest killrates even before her nerfs. It's easier to further push the nerf narrative if a bunch of people attempt to convince everyone she's easy. I think like many people most people simply are bad at this game and never learned to properly juke at specific places or in general, to the point you can last a little bit in a chase against a Nurse while your teammates to gens.
At the end of the day I'd like to see some statistics for killers like Nurse and Blight if we were seriously considering nerfs, because I'm of the same opinion with Blight, in that a basekit Blight is actually not that bad to deal with either.
The range is necessary because of the bloody big maps. The speed boost effect is the only issue.
Both recharge addons put her almost to the level she had before her nerf, yes.

Nurse requires a lot of practice and commitment. If by green you refer to your general experience in the game, it's probably better to leave her aside for a while.

I have to admit, that does sound pretty funny lol No one has ever jump-scared me like that.
I don't think its a very common use of that perk. For some reason, the idea of "Insidious" seems welded to the basement.
It makes it more effective though.

Range and three blinks need reworks but everything else is fine.
I don't see a problem with the three blinks. I don't think it's that interesting except to get the achievement.
At most it's good for a surprise attack when you go against good teams. Against the others, there are better choices IMHO. I feel it may be a long discussion for another thread. (There are enough Nurse thread out there for the moment, so I'll file it under "later".)
-
He used to be my main.
He was the main of the friend who showed me the game years ago.
Then they've "reworked" him, sledgehammer style.
My friend doesn't play anymore and I'm not touching Billy in its current state.
That's the kind of incomprehensible moves that made me doubt the game had a future (there were others).
The really puzzling thing is that they've not reverted that massacre.
-
I only rarely use these add-ons (or any other for that matter), but if it's true that the speed-boost feels unnecessary, I wouldn't say it deletes all counterplay. It makes some situations more difficult though. (If its an hyperbole, I understand. I'm just saying.)
I don't think any of the Nurse player would disagree losing that speed boost effect associated to the range.

Since Mikey is a man of few words I am curious how does a roleplay of him go?
Tier 1.
Sometimes I just stand.
Sometimes I stand half-hidden by a wall, hiding slightly more if I'm being spotted.
Sometimes I grab of a gen or slash, but always with jump-scares in mind.
For the first move, I try to go for jump-scares.
-
Needless to say, forget using add-ons.
In a nutshell, because I don't have much time right now:
You don't need perks for the first phase.
The first thing you need to do is to blink everywhere from everywhere else. Survivors do not exist for you at the moment.
Key points like these machines in the corn maps. In and out of the basement. One floor up or down. All the small spots. You get the idea.
Speaking of, you also need to learn to blink without dropping one floor.
Learn to short blink too : small walls, pallets: back and forth.
It takes time so don't even think chasing survivors yet. (Unless it's only to change your mind)
Once you are confident with your blinks and you don't need to be focused to blink, chases are next.
Only equip detection perks. Nurses calling, spies, lethal : anything to help you find survivors. BBQ may not be ideal at first.
You only task is to chase survivors and keep up. If it's too easy don't hesitate downing and hooking: you need more experienced ones.
For the chases there are two schools: prediction and reaction.
Prediction, obviously, means you predict the position of a survivor and land there.
Reaction means you use one blink to close distance and assess, then the second one to land a hit.
Survivors have often several options to counter both types but getting juked will teach you their moves and you should find ways to counter them.
There are more complete threads about this. (I'm on a phone, I will not search right now.)
I'm sure other Nurse players will have some advice too (and we may not all agree so there'll be options)
Good luck o7

"So she's fine. Adapt, and learn to play against her."
This sentence sums it up so well that I think when I play my nurse, I'll rename my account like that ☺️
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3064095#Comment_3064095
Unlike the Oni, who can still catch up with the survivors by walking normally if his power does not allow him to, the nurse cannot; this is the counter effect of his power ☺️
I am always amazed to read that what you want, in the end, is to turn the nurse into an easy-to-brain, easy-to-bully, easy-to-talk-about killer 🤨
How hard is it to accept that, 1) she's more complicated to deal with than other killers and 2) you should learn to play against her?
But if you still think she's OP, I'm waiting for your videos of games against her, so we can see your gameplay.
Because after all, you do rate the nurse as "OP".
Well, let us evaluate your gameplay against her, to see if it's so "OP" too.
By the way, I was teasing you, but I really think that showing us how you play against the nurse would allow you to improve, or at least to understand some things. Maybe some people wouldn't care about your videos, but others would be more than willing to advise you and help you improve!
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3064110#Comment_3064110
As far as I'm concerned, the fact that you know how to play the nurse better than others will greatly increase your chances of getting through it, that's clear.
If four people who know how to play well against the nurse play together in SWF, their chances of win will inevitably be greatly increased, I agree.
That doesn't mean they'll always win; sometimes they might run into nurses who are stronger than they are.
And this is a very important point: the nurse, more than any other killer, can put a lot of pressure on the survivors very quickly, and can generate a much faster and more efficient snowball.
This means that if you want to fight effectively against a nurse, you must, as a survivor, be faster, more precise, more efficient, and more coordinated than if you were playing against a poor Caleb in Lery.
More than ever, the nurse is THE killer that requires survivors to be a team player.
So yes ... against 4 soloQ's who don't know how to counter the nurse, the nurse is in for a treat.
But is it her fault? Absolutely not.
Just like proposing that the nurse does not have her power at the beginning of the game.
I don't understand: how does the fact that she can teleport at the beginning of the game mean the defeat of the survivors? I want to say: there is no connection. Especially because whether a nurse wins her game will be determined by many other parameters.
The fact to show the killer that he is about to play against a SWF ... I'm divided: as much as it would allow the killer to choose to play more "quietly" ... but it could also penalize the chill SWFs, who just want to have fun and not bully the killer, by risking to lengthen their waiting time excessively
Unless you set up a reward system for the killer who agrees to play against a SWF, and a reward for the SWFs every time a killer leaves their lobby 😉
I do agree about the map addons though.
However, sometimes I do like to play on this or that map ... so why not a new addon, which would be the opposite of the existing one?
For example :
"Computer bug: burning this offering will greatly reduce the chances of you getting to the Lery Memory Institute."
This would keep the randomness of the maps, while allowing a survivor/killer to have some choice about where to go.
Oh, was it you who proposed that great map offering idea? I can't remember who came up with it.
