We need 2 big changes to make game better for everyone. Actually i will add one bonus too.

    1. Killers got very nice perks. And now next step should be that nerf maps, make them smaller. Red Forest, Swamp etc should not exists anymore. And god loops should go too.
    2. Big solo-q buffs. These buffs should help solos to coordination better. And i think basekit BT should be 15 seconds and perk should rework to different power.
    3. Bonus = If top tier killers feels so op after these change, BHVR should look them.

And i think we will have balanced and fun game again. Right now, killers feels better. SWF is okey. But sadly solo-q is so bad.

    1. Agreed with the map size. I'm surprised to be on the fence about god loops. With the killer changes, they may be more fair overall. (I need to see high level plays, in a few days, to make up my mind about that.)
    2. While ranting about my random teammates, I was wondering about some indication the killer is being seen by another survivor. I don't want an insta-aura reading of course. I'm more thinking about something like ... When a survivor has eyes on the killer (and maybe points at him) then his icon changes color after a second (or randomly one to five second, reduced to 1 if the survivor points directly at the killer). The delay is important because not even SWF have this information isntantly. It's not fleshed out, and it's not complete but that something that I'm missing from my SWF days.
    3. If ... yes, if. I didn't have the opportunity to play Nurse at high level yet, nor will I for a little while (the dust needs to settle first). And I'm not good enough with Blight to judge him. However its very possible that the boost for "M1" killers, coupled with their easier handling will make them a better, more efficient, choice for most. I guess we'll see.

I'm pretty sure the biggest problem with solo is the matchmaking. If it improves (cfr earlier messages) it should improve solo-q automatically.

I've been doing the same with my much-adored but seldom-played M1 killers. It's been super refreshing to spend more time on killers like Meyers and (addon-less) Spirit without feeling hopelessly outclassed just by loading into the game.

Indeed, I've played more M1 than Nurse myself. (While I'm a Nurse main)

  • @Mozic said:

I noticed the same - instantaneous queue times are convenient, but also a sign that the matchmaker is desperate for a role to pair up with opponents. Hopefully this also means that match quality will increase!

It may indeed. Even if I play both roles, because of time constraints I had more time for the killer side than for the survivor's. I'll be taking this opportunity to try to improve my survivor plays. (Especially since I'm only decent against killers like Nurse, Hag and Spirit)

  • @MrMori said:

Depends mostly on the time of day to be honest with you.

Always has been, but for as long as I remember I've always played survivor during the day and switched to killer from 19:00 until the end of my game session.

Yesterday, I noticed longer queues and I even went back to survivor at some point.

  • It depends on what you are looking for.

I've mostly played survivor yesterday and I had very few killers with slow-downs (it's really not needed most of the time)

It's a bit too early to say what's best so early after the patch but ...

I had a match with Dead-Man Switch and Pain Resonance It was quite annoying and doubled a bit as a detection perk.

I had a few matches with Call of Brine and it was pretty effective. Maybe better than Pop depending on the state of the generator you are hitting.

  • Maybe the lore says she has a tendency to go for stealth instead of running the loops?

  • That would be quite a feat since nobody even sees the present. At best we see the past.

  • @Turtlesrock said:

The issue right now is a few things

    1) Survivors that were high because of DH. That perk was called a boosted perk for a reason. The amount of times I have seen survivors unable to loop is unreal atm. Even my friends who used DH say its harder without it. DH also extended chases by about 30 seconds if used right, which was almost half a gen per player, which really made "gen rushing" feel like a thing.

    2) Everything is new and people haven't adapted yet. This happens in a lot of games and even IRL. Everything meta changed so many players have to change everything up to something new

    3) I'm not sure why people arent talking about this one... Survivor got the bonus 100% BP incentive. I have seen a lot of P0 or low Prestige survivors lately. I think a lot of people who arent survivor mains are seeing that and jumping into survivor as well and not being the best at it and dying easily.

Speaking of, I didn't see the bonus today, and the killer queue is almost one minute in the evening. It's pretty rare.

Either some survivor-exclusive players are pouting, either they are trying killer now that it's not that much of a masochistic endeavor. (If it's the case, they'll be back once the MMR is adjusted)

  • I believe the MMR was wrong yesterday (and maybe today too)

I got beginners after beginners against my main. It was not pretty. I could down them without even blinking.

My Huntress got one decent team to verse (above 2K hours range)

If you're interested in SWF I'd more than gladly join

It's an option. I'm done with survivor today. I'll probably play again tomorrow though.

Been playing for like 5 hours today and I've escaped maybe 3 times. Edit: my queue times are instant too so it's not like i'm wasting time in lobby.

I hope I'll be so lucky. Just had a game were we had 2 sure escapes. One survivor did the gen next to the doors and the killer was after me on the other side of the map. I've managed to survive the Blight's rushes long enough to get to the "safe" door ... that was not even touched. On the hook I saw the Nea walking to the other side of the map, sparing her Sprint Burst. She died too of course.

    I need a group.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3074639#Comment_3074639

That's exactly what I feel too. Even tho sometimes theres 4 survivors (if no one dcs or suicides) it always feels like i'm a 3/2vs1

Just got my first escape 😭 (but I didn't try to save the two weak ones who did manage not to open the doors on their side of the map while the killer was busy trying to get me : my altruism is on a free-fall since yesterday)

Going against is not even a idea anymore. As a killer, I had a discussion with a survivor I had versed. One of their teammates, a Meg, was apparently sandbagging and tea-bagging in front of the hooks. Without getting the whole picture, I felt she was responsible for at least one needless death so I made a point killing her and giving the hatch to another.

  • @Tsulan said:

Oh its not about deserving to be here and there. Its just that the perk carried people with a decent amount of skill to regions where a lot of skill is required. That backfires now.

It's not only that. I'm going against survivors who have no clue about the game at all. It's not even a question of being able to survive a chase.

Same for the solo queue. There always at least one player who is at the level of hiding from the killer who is coming to him from his back.

I manage to run the killer for a while (and I'm not very good to begin with so it tells you how good that killer is) and no gens are being done. When I'm hooked I see survivors crouching on the corners, playing with a noodle or something.

I feel like I'm playing against one killer and two or three survivors. (Okay, I had one game were there was only one beginner and we almost did it ... one game since yesterday.)

Except that harassment is legally prohibited or even condemned (you have a lot of suicide each year because of bullying), the camp/tunnel is harassment whether you agree or not it's the truth, a player on an mmo has experienced a camping for x days, he sent several requests > company did nothing against the players camp, company heavily punished when the player threatened to take company to court.

You are talking such nonsense it's gotta be a new record.

  • Makes sense.

It's matches both my experience as survivor and as killer.

Hopefully the adaptation will not take long.

  • @Salacia said:

Regarding tunneling and camping, i propose a player ban, camping and tunneling is harassing behavior, since when do we let stalkers go unpunished?

Other games severely punish tunnel/camp because it's ultra toxic behavior and the devs say camp/tunnel is indeed a form of harassment. Here, nothing, no sanction, the big stalker dummies are rewarded with 4 kills even though they don't even know how to play.

After another problem you have fairplay killers who camp a cheater (deserved camp for the cheater) this killer must not be sanctioned if he has camped a cheater.

I'm not certain you grasp the role of the killer.

The one task of the killer is to kill survivors.

If he accomplished his goal, he is fine.

Sometimes camping is the right move, sometimes tunnelling is.

Something can be said of slugging everyone too. (Usually a self inflicted wound from a team that let no other option to the killer.)

It's not for you to judge how the opposing team is allowed to win against you.

When you play killer, you are free to lose however you see fit.

The killer camps? Do generators and leave. It's the answer to most things the killer do really.

Side note: when you use some derogatory term for killers who get full marks and tell they don't know how to play, it's doesn't look the way you think it does.

  • Iron will is more fair like it is now.

The DS soon station should probably go back to 5 seconds.

  • @I_CAME said:

They need to just nerf high MMR SWFs. Surely they can make a system to detect if players are high MMR and in a group. Then apply penalties.

MMR isn't accurate. All that would accomplish is making the job of killer easier and would have consequences for solos.

The speed boost is BHVR BHVRing things up. Put on top the community freaking out about anything and everything.

Adjust the speed back to base, sure. But can the rabid dogs back off so we can make reasonable suggestions to a "bugfix" BHVR pulled?

As for the addons themselves, if survivors cannot reacting to the myriad of visual and audio queues she gives off, I can't help them.

Rabid dogs will be rabid. There is no reasoning with them.

I'm expecting that an increase of kills from the "easier" killers will put matters into perspective. Some got used having it easy against almost every opponent.

Yea I personally believe they are NOT the majority. I don’t count 2 man SWF’s as a true SWF group.

I wish we could see the stats & end the debate once and for all.

    They are a group, technically.

I don't know how it is today, but mid 2020 I've measured my lobbies (I had a program to easily make friends connections for that express purpose)

    SWF4 : 20%

    SWF3 : 40%

    SWF2 x 2 : 10%

    SWF2 + solos x 2 : 10%

    Solos x 4 : 6%

    The rest was undetermined.

edit: This was from 30 lobbies during the night, so it's worth what it's worth. A hint, nothing more.

They said that’s not coming out anytime soon, basically it’s a back burner. So until then, what do solo q survivors do? Quit the game? Play killer? Those don’t seem like solutions to me tbh.

Go SWF : two, three, four. Easier said than done, I know. My team has left a while ago and most other players I know are German.

A player speaking English with a thick French accent trying to understand another with a German one. That'll go well. 😅

    Fair enough.

Also there are some Nurse mains that did disagree.

I forgot where but I saw one saying that range isn't op.

Range is a complex subject. e.g. The ability to move further is mandatory because of the big maps etc ...

However, the speed boost is absolutely not required. It leaves less time for survivor to react and can "steal" a hit by a hair in several situations. I don't like it because it makes chases slightly easier. I don't know if I would call it "OP" (there are downsides to range and one needs to be somewhat decent to use it consistently), but I would certainly call it a clutch, or unfair.

When I say "every Nurse," I mean all the usual Nurse suspects that I know of, including Sluzzy.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

In a world without dead hard suddenly the "bad" killers are winning. Imagine that.

You mean the, and I quote, "gg ez baby killer"? Not that the new Dead Hard is bad mind you.

I've played several basic M1 yesterday and it has been a massacre. The MMR not appearing to work properly may account for most of this. I'm not that good a Trapper.

  • @AcelynnBen said:

you're here good, now read below and tell me your opinion

don't get me wrong it might seem like what did was harsh on survivor but if you never noticed survivors were always kinda of above killers when it came to certain things

and now that killer and survivors are about the same ground everyone thinks that survivors are weak which they are not, you can still loop, you can still do a lot of things, the game will feel harder mainly because the perks that made it easy are nerfed

Although i think the MMR got a giant reset, because everything is messy atm

survivors that were high MMR are in low, while killers that were low are high

But all and all i feel like i have a chance to play the game now as a killer, the game feels stable, you don't just spawn in and 4 gens pop while everyone dead hards to the next loop, even boons which i hate so much don't really annoy me anymore simply because the game is calmer now, you have a chance to play and do AT LEAST SOMETHING

i think camping and tunneling might get lower in high MMR, because im gonna be honest the only time i tunnel or camp is at one gen with 0 hooks, and im sure a lot of killers did that too and i think even the devs realized that, that's why they disabled DS once the exit gates are powered

but this update made me feel like i wanna play killer, before you played killer and you just hated yourself, now its really fun mainly because the game feels balance

EVEN RPD which is a map i still get lost in, isn't bad anymore because there is no dead hard distance and bloodlust activates way faster

sure its gonna be a bit hard on SoloQ until the MMR either get fixed or fixes itself but it won't push away survivors and even if it did it won't kill the game mainly because there are always more survivors than killers

and don't forget maps will still give advantage either with pallets or just being BIG

and hey Nurse might get nerfed if literally every killer that isn't nurse starts feeling a bit viable

    TL:DR

git gud, im jk but just wait a bit for the MMR to get fixed and everything will probably be fine

I can confirm that I only camp when it make sense (end of game, no better option left, survivors circling the hook, ...)

When every killer becomes viable, maybe players will complain about the "easy" killers having a good kill rate rather than the Nurse (which, last time we got stats, had the lowest kill rate of all).

Right now the issue is MMR. It's was too whacky yesterday.

    @SkinnyPringles said:

I agree that the update feels on more fair ground for both sides.

But I still think they should do something for Camping, currently there are not many downsides for it (if any at all) A Leatherface can just stand next to a survivor with Deadlock, Pain Resonance and will still be doing good even if he did absolutely nothing.

If he throws NOED into the mix at the endgame he will be able to get 2 or maybe even 3 kills which is awful.

Another problem is Nurse, her add ons to be precise, her range add ons should not have faster travel speed this shouldn't have been a thing to begin with.

It is close to impossible to win against a Nurse with range.

Another mention is Huntress's hatchet hitbox.

I don't like how she throws fridges instead of actual hatchets.

Agreed for the speed boost of range. I don't believe there is a Nurse player that will disagree with you.

Hatchets aren't that big (yes, I know you don't mean an actual fridge) If they were some shots through the walls would be impossible. The issue is latency and the actual hitbox of the survivors.

Well maybe one day you’ll play against my Spirit :)

If you are in Europe (likely unless you are about to get to bed) it's likely ;). You will not recognize me though this name I have is unique to this forum.

  • I've versed one. Got killed by the other survivors though (bloody sandbag by incompetence)

It didn't occurred to me to play her. My issue with her is the "tell" survivor get when she is phasing toward them. It made her way too easy to juke and really not fun (from both sides).

It's my experience of course. I expect someone who has mastered her can handle these issues. However, I can't and apparently neither can the Spirits I've versed.

Honestly? I took a break and stopped completely playing since the end of the event. Only played 2 days together with @Marigoria

That being said, we got long queues and new players as teammates. Or players that actively sabotaged the game by staying under the hook or refusing to run away.

Yesterday we played 6 or 7 matches. Half of them were terrible due to the above mentioned behavior and the other ones were so hilariously funny (including a very skilled Steve, who escaped a face camping Bubba with a Kobe and a well timed DH), that I regret not recording them.

In conclusion: it's to early to say how the overall balance is.

    Right, thanks.

  • I've seen a post like that earlier. It makes no sense to me.

What does it stems from, beside immaturity? Ill-placed self-righteousness? I hope they grow up someday.

    @Dead_Harder said:

Yeah but i feel like some mean it literally. Some perks in game are crutches and will carry you to an mmr where you stick out like a sore thumb.

For killers its NoEd. If you see a killer that seems surprisingly bad, you know a noed is coming.

And if you see a survivor thats surprisingly bad, either DH or they usually play as swf.

Do good killers and survivors make great use of those perks? Sure, are they still crutches? Yeah.

Yeah, true, everybody rightfully expects a bad killer to have NOED.

Having NOED in game gave me 3 kills just because of that expectation.

I didn't used it, but I counted on survivors counting on me having it, wasting time to ensure their absolute victory against the obviously inept killer and I got three of them with Bloodwarden xD. (I needed one out for the timing though.)

That NOED aura reveal timing was such a good idea, survivors are more hopeful to find it in time now. 😁

  • @Tsulan said:

The problem is a different one. Matchmaking matches veterans with new players. Which then get stomped, because they lack basic game knowledge.

Previously you could only assume how the others skill was after the match. But now you can see how often someone prestiged during the lobby.

For example, yesterday I had a couple of matches with p0 and p1 players. Which obviously didn't perform well.

So we'll probably start to see lobby dodging on teammates.

You are a much better survivor than I am and you usually (always?) play solo if I recall. How were your survivor games if you played?

  • @Yords said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3072694#Comment_3072694

That is completely avoided if the survivors split up.

As a killer, I quite enjoy the idea to put all the survivors together for a quick snow-ball.

As a survivor I never want that to happen. There is a reason the killer offering to have all survivors splitted-up is never* used.

What I'm saying is, overall there's slightly less survivors. In Europe and here in the USA it's closer to the 4:1 where the ratio should be. It's possible someplace else it's a 2:1 survivor to killer ratio, so the bonus is being applied on the global scale instead of region by region.

Oh. I need my morning coffee. 😅

  • @JHondo said:

I think the bonuses aren't being applied region by region like they should be. I'm Midwest USA and getting 2-3 minutes for both roles but the bonus is for playing as survivor. Was nice getting 140,000 bp for a 32k match with an escape cake, an anniversary cake, and the bonus BP on a survivor game in solo queue lol

I believe the issue is worldwide. It was the same thing in Europe.

  • Five seconds BT helps. It doesn't help much though. Waiting for five seconds is nothing.

If a survivor has BT though, you'll be protected for a while longer.

    ---

I don't get how one can say is worse when the survivability being tunneled has been increased.

Kills have less incentive to tunnel too. Better give two hits on a survivor than three.

My only problem is that teammates play an important role in survival and yesterday I was grouped with and against very inexperienced (or just bad) survivors. It was foretold an MMR adjustment would happen now that DH doesn't carry hard anymore but it's painful.

  • I'm not sure yet but OTR is a must and DH is still fine. It works well against Nurse IMHO.

I'm not sure DS is worth it but a team should have one or two.

Circle of Healing for the fourth maybe?

  • @VcatoV86 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3071126#Comment_3071126

    This 100%.

For some reason, the developers are so afraid of messing with SWF that they continue to nerf solo q into the ground. Why?

In my killer games, I know that I will occasionally encounter a SWF group that is so sweaty it makes the game boring. I accept that these will happen from time to time, and I move on unphased. Why? Because they are so rare.

Survivors have the opposite experience in solo q. Getting a game where your team works together and you are not tunneled/camped ad nauseum is rare. So we almost chase that high because the rest of the games are so toxic and boring.

And now the devs have decided to further imbalance this fundamental issue.

Probably because SWF are the majority and maybe because they were bleeding killers.

I'm guessing the next step is to improve solo queue.

  • My small experience of yesterday have me the worst teammates I could have.

If it becomes the norm, I'll have to find a team.

  • Keep 1000 so you can buy the rift when you reach level 70.

edit: I'm waking up. For some reason I've interpreted that as 20K auric cells.

  • Sounds like fun. I hope someone tried it against me so I can judge how efficient it is.

    I'll try too.

totally agreed , sadly certain killers can abuse the nerf to DS to tunnel even better. (and that isnt good)

but other than that yes i have no complains about the patch at all , only the DS change was a bit to extreme.

    WUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTT , okay.

    DOH.

Stop making life difficult for yourself and others by worrying about all sorts of far-fetched bullshit.

    No normal player ...

    You are new here? 🤣

  • I've played all my Nurse games of the night with only Franklin and no add-ons (kind of a habit now).

At some point, I've chased and downed survivors without a single blink and got them all, in the Red Forest (the temple). Granted, I went up to bloodlust 3 in a Benny Hill-like chase but that only tells you how inefficient the team was. Had I used my powers, I would have killed them all at 5 gens. (Nothing to be proud of: they were 4 kittens.) Given how out of whack that mach making was I've left the 3 who didn't rage-quit leave. I'm pretty sure they had no idea I wasn't actively trying to kill them : they were that green. My next match was against a better team which was both weird and a relief.

TL/DR:That's not a Nurse issue, that's the MMR being more ######-up than usual.

I had a team that almost won, if it wasn't for a critical blunder : gen-before-friend while their best runner* was on a hook that was safe, only to be unhooked at the worst time. Wiped by one "friend", I only helped a bit.

About DH, I feel it's still efficient against a Nurse, when used by someone with some skills. Contrary to M1 killers, the Nurse cannot significantly delay her hit as other killers can. I had skilled players managing to use it at the right time (without looking like they were cheating this time).

Right now, I think OTR and DH may be good options to verse her, for skilled players.

I have no particular issue playing against SWFs : when they don't gen-rush they are often giving me funny or interesting games. (So, put that into any potential "bias" from me.) But if SWFs are displayed, they'll be dodged 24/7 and that will not be good for the game.

They did so everyone will dodge lvl 1 solo teammates. Another win for solo Q players.

I'm in a lobby (as killer) with two 10, one 3 and one 1. Half "console", half Steam. Nobody is dodging.

edit: and the "1" has rage-quit, the "3" died without me even noticing and the two 10s managed as good as they could in these conditions (even if I gave a lot of lee-way after the DC). So I wouldn't blame the 10s for not wanting that experience again.

  • As survivor : awful. (Teammates, not Dead-Hard)

As killer: either survivors way too weak for me (but maybe missing Dead Hard) a couple of hard ones and maybe one cheater. (There is luck, there is skill, and then there is the impossible lucky streak)

yikes, have you been facing Nurse, Plague, or Legion??

    Oni, Freddy, Spirit.

This patch is supposed to affect M1 killers for the better. I suspect a lot of killers are tempted to enter the trial with them.
