Why not use both....draw in thier greed and punish them for it....
I'm playful. The original idea was to have no perks at all too. Since it was about Nurse, it was both with self-improvement in mind and giving a chance to badly matched opponents.
Giving a chance feels even more relevant now. Earlier I've been matched as Nurse on Mother's Dwelling (one of the worst maps without range, because of its size and LOS breakers) and I've still managed to get them all. Against an experienced team, I would normally cry blood on that map, even with a decent build.

No, but it sounds like a good idea, thanks.

You can play META yet if it's only you then you can't 1vs1 a killer...
Obviously. Especially since I'm not exactly a good survivor to being with (unless I'm going against a Nurse, then I'm can usually last a bit more)

What's that I haven't had enough time to play until this weekend to really mess around with builds for my survivors
OTR is almost 100%
Lucky Break feels pretty good and consistently let me drop the first chase easily.
And after that it becomes a bit complicated.
Sprint Burst or Lithe (Sprint Burst is better but more difficult to use properly). DH isn't out yet but it feels too difficult to use well.
And on the still-to-be-sorted-out pile, there is:
Hope, Lightweight, Quick & Quiet, Dance with me on one side.
Breakout, WGLF on the other. Maybe with saboteur too but I'd rather use a toolbox at the moment.
Depending on the desired role.
-
Dwight, Meg and David.
These three have got me killed so often, I would not be sad to see them go.
-
Oni isn't very strong. You only need to learn to verse him.

Exactly this. I agree the Devs went a bit crazy but some of these changes were needed.
I play straight SoloQ survivor and I do my best to be a team player but most of the time it gets me killed because they don't return the favor or are just plain bad. Do I blame the Devs or killers no.
I've been a bit less altruistic after a few similar experiences. I've also got better teams over the matches. (And I believe my current build is finally close to what the META will look like)
-
The real problem is that we don't know yet what the new META are.
See? Some of us understand.
The previous META wasn't found in one day.
-
You'll have to find a reference to that statement.
All I remember is something along the lines of : "killers should not have to feel obligated to use slow-down perks".
-
I've just played a couple of killer games. In one of them a Nea managed to use DH properly (without cheating).
DH is still good, it's just more difficult to use.
I'm more a Sprint Burst user myself.
edit: brain fart, I should really go to bed.

We could just end the Us Vs. them thing and come together and help make a better game for both sides no?
Without these, how else would you easily know when someone's view is incomplete and thus unreliable?

There is 3 effects. Read the description. We have already confirmed this ingame to be accurate.
Effect 1: if the killer is within 36 meters, spinechill immediately alerts the survivor. Period.
Effect 2: If the killer also has a Terror radius, then the icon will also show a progress part that changes depending on how close the killer is. This is currently bugged where the progress bar is reversed.
Effect 3: If the killer has line of sight on the survivor, the survivors action speed is increased.
Each effect acts independent of each other.
Ah, I stand corrected. I thought they were two, not three. So it's indeed busted.
-
I don't get why so many are complaining about the perk. Mandy has been very clear.
Effect 1: Terror radius AND line of sight.
Effect 2 : Terror radius (and bugged at the moment, working with reverse intensity)
I don't see the problem with this, beside of the bug.

Yes. Fifteen minutes is a long match duration. A good deterrent IMHO.
Five minutes is nothing, "nobody" really cares.
A free DC will not be a good deterrent for the many idiots who can't project themselves into the future. And the 24h will be overly punishing for the odd, rare, issue.
-
Thanks for the Spine Chill precision. (Not replying to not needlessly send a notification)

How about 1 free dc per day and after that its a 24 hour ban and you only get your free dc back if you go a 24 hour period with no dc and if you dont then its an extra 24 hrs the next time.
So if you dc twice in 1 day 24 hour ban come back as soon as your ban is over and dc 48 hour ban and keep going maybe cap it at 1 week
That's way too harsh.

People are thinking about the 10 seconds in a vacuum. With 4 stacks of Thana, those gens are 115 seconds. Even if we don't account for four Thana tokens, what was previously a 3 gen chase is now a zero gen chase. And then the inevitable secondary gen regression kicks in, like Pain Res, Call of Brine, etc. Those extra 10 seconds are causative of additional gen time on top of that when the killer has stacked slowdowns. People are asking whether 90 second gens are reasonable when this patch is actually posing this question: are 120+ second gens reasonable?
Reasonable, I don't think so but I'm not playing in a high-level team so what do I know.
What is it is annoying enough to make me go play something else.
I had a match like that, survived, and stopped. I've always found survivor to be relaxing, without the help of the killer I would fall asleep.

Pppffftttt, why would you run Franklin's when you can run our lord and saviour lightborn
That was my first idea and I did a few matches with it.
But Franklin exposes their greed ... do I need to go on? ;)

@Sally_S_gay_son said:
All of the changes, in theory, are good, but they just increased the camping/tunneling problem.
As a killer the only thing you have to do to win is end the first chase quick enough that you can camp/tunnel the person you got and the rest of the team does not have enough time to finish the gens anymore nor can the tunneled person defend themselves with DS, and OTH is just not good enough as old ds was. I am not saying that DS also means automatic free escape but at least now killers know no one even runs it anymore
In most of my games, people are dead straight of the first hook, my actual first post-patch update game was a camping bubba.
I did manage to escape some matches but overall it's just constant camping and tunneling every single match, at 5/ 4 gens killers are literally just gluing themselves to that first hook.
I have been using sb/lithe to try some creative plays but after I realized that every match I am dead after first down I just went comp style pre-dropping everything and hoping people are on gens so when I am eventually hooked they have time to do the gens as the killers won't leave the hook either way, getting creative in chases and trying mind games would be fun if I knew I would get to play the game after getting outplayed once (I did have one amazing chase against the dredge where I 99ed sb and when he posted his anti loop thingy I managed to leave the loop and go somewhere else, and that's probably one good interactive chase I had since the patch).
On top of that I am getting potato teammates, and none of my friends play DbD anymore, so solo queue hell is the only thing I have.
I will probably take a break from survivor, but I honestly would feel bad to play my main Nurse with recent aura reading buffs to lethal (which is the build I use) since if I get a couple of 4ks in a row I just get bored. I guess I will go play some other killers I usually never play and hopefully won't get stomped
Then don't play her with a strong build.
If you are confident and don't mind to lose regularly, play her without anything at all. (Although Franklin feels nice to silence the macro-clickers)

That's very arbitrary.
Tell that to the devs, they make the rules. (I would go for hooks for killers, and ... I'm not actually sure for survivors. Or maybe score, I don't know.)

Interesting. I've been using OTR all morning and it was very useful. Saved me more than once and allowed me to save a teammate or two.
I must be using it wrong.

15 minutes is too punitive for people whose internet dipped out for a second, or who got caught on Steam's weekly refresh, or who were playing during a thunderstorm and the power went out for two seconds...
When it comes to the people who DC on first down, they'll do it way more than once per day. Start low and ramp up hard.
All rare occurrences, a minor inconvenience compared to the mind-less DCs that I see way too often (as survivor and as killer)

Only one that lasted longer was a plague with thana and I got the highest score of 19k.
Probably still just stuck in low mmr since the only game I escaped today was literally against an afk freddy.
It may also be you are still being grouped with survivors at a too high spot for their MMR. (At best, I'm "medium" MMR myself)
It's one of the kind of depressing things, in a funny way. I'm a way better killer than a survivor. I can see some of the killer I verse are not too good as I can easily judge their moves. But it's still enough to get me downed. xD (Unless its a Nurse, then I can keep up a bit)

What is defined as a win by the game? The emblem system? A 4K? A 3K?
Three kills or more for the killer, one or less for the survivors.

Matches are indeed way longer. I kind of enjoy that.

I won't be able to play again until Saturday, but yesterday was a nightmare for me in Solo Q. Loads of camping and tunneling. Loads of d/c's, survivors just killing themselves on hooks.
The only matches where we had a shot were when team mates actually genrushed. That thing Killers on this forum always said was a thing (but I'd rarely seen it). So one match everyone had Prove Thyself/toolboxes and 2-3 on a gen one after the other as much as possible. Still didn't escape because team mates would merely run out the door instead of going for end game hook rescues.
Most of my escapes were hatch escapes. One match a Blight was being super sweaty and continuously slugged me and the last survivor (for the almighty 4K), and while slugged I crawled off, hatch appeared right in front of me.
God it was just so much fun LOL. -_-
Hatch luck is eerie sometimes. Once I was chasing that Meg in Ironworks of misery. We were on the top floor as her last teammate died. She jumped down and the hatch appeared while she was mid-air falling right into it.
I will never forget.

Someone who has played killer for more than a thousand of hours?
You are the one who said you seldom played killer and switched to playing it more now, something that many others are trying. As for the question, it was only about the somewhat rude part of your reply.
Not that it really matters but unless I'm mistaken, I'd be surprised you have a thousands of hours as killer. (About 18 times less killer wins than I do, but about 3 times more as survivor, and it matches your first comment).
Anyway, moving on ...

Anyone who talks about "high MMR is really hard" is bad at killer. I've played vs tons of really good teams. You know what they weren't? Solo Queue.
Shut up please. Killer got buffed, solo queue needs help now.
Given the tone of your reply, I just know you will not play killer for long. And telling someone to shut-up? Who do you think you are?
-
If you've switched to killer only because now survivor isn't as easy as it was, I predict you'll run back to survivor once you'll reach higher MMR.

Yes. This is a well-coded bug-free game with a working MMR and fine-tuned balance, after all.
The game crashes once every few months. That's not too much. Any other inconvenience does not warrant a DC. (Bad teammates, bad map, annoying killer, being the first one to be hit, playing Dead by Daylight, ...)
@hailxsatanxeveryxday said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/335999/lets-start-the-dc-penalty-at-15-minutes
Let's not. Some people's games crash. Some of us disconnect once in a blue moon - I don't think I've ever DC'd more than twice in a day, to the point where I didn't realize there were longer penalties for people who disconnect repeatedly until I read it here.
It's okay to disconnect once in a while. Sometimes there's even a good reason for it if something important or emergent is going on IRL.
People who disconnect repeatedly should be banned until they learn to stop doing that, and I think the current system is effective considering how ridiculous the DC rates become when the penalty is turned off.
If it's something important IRL, you can wait 15 minutes before coming back.
I can understand DCing for external reasons. It happens to me regularly, but I don't come back to the game that day.

Not according to the new patch notes. The 36 meter radius is separate from the terror radius, now. It's a completely new buff to the perk. It's completely separate from the terror radius (as they wouldn't have made a 36 meter range if it was only supposed to be based on terror radius). Essentially, running Spinechill now provided you with a guaranteed "I'm safe" bubble of 36 meters. Can work on a gen without the need to look around, know if it's safe to unhook, know you're fine grabbing that totem or unlocking that chest, know you're safe to hop out of that locker. That in itself is useful, but it completely invalidates and breaks stealth killers, as it's literally impossible for them to ever sneak up and get the jump on you. It's a problem - and it appears to be intended.
An unnatural tingle warns you of impending doom.
- Whenever the Killer
- is within 36 metres of your location, Spine Chill activates, lighting up its icon.
- If there is a Terror Radius
- present, Spine Chill will reveal its intensity using its icon.
Notice it says IF there is a terror radius, it will also let you know exactly HOW close they are, but the 36 meters is a guaranteed alarm bell regardless of if there is a terror radius.
The idea was to help hard of hearing players. I guess I'll try the perk next.
-
OTR is most certainly part of the META.
For the rest, I'm still experimenting.
Lucky Break helps quite a lot. It also occurred to me it could also be useful against a Nurse, given how weak she is against stealth.
Iron will isn't as good as before, but if one goes for stealth, it helps. Not sure I'll keep it though.
DS, as weak as it is, still makes a chase longer and may allow to escape the killer. After all, all that matters in a chase is to last the longest possible.

~50k what? Players? Remember, if you took that from Steamcharts, it doesn't show the players from other platforms. You can also include to this players from consoles (PS4, PS5, XBOX one, XSX and S, Switch), Stadia, Epic Store and Microsoft store, which do not count to that playercount. I can safely say that that the actual playercount is much, much higher. I'm guessing the truw numbers are on something like 100k+
Yes, on Steam, obviously. But that number alone is enough to say a few people are only a drop in the sea.

The detection is only supposed to activate if the terror radius is on.

the only promise that i can gave is that i will likely stop playing like before... i'll probably do again a couple of matches sometimes, but it will be rare to find me on that game like before... i'm just sad that i invested all those hours in a game like that that didn't deserve it (or at least, it had the potential, but the devs messed up everything with their decisions during the years)
I think the game is generally going in the right direction. And yes, I'm playing solo-queue and 6.1.0 has been mostly frustration on that front.
I'll only be wary of the future if I see players like Zubat, Cope, ... giving up. Given that even here some players have no real issue on solo-queue, I'm guessing we are good.

Telling the devs you'll uninstall is a show of force, they can see your playtime, money spent ect and if you are a valuable asset to their wallet they won't want to see you go and concede to demands if enough "high value" players shelf the game.
Telling isn't. Doing is.
We are ~50k at the moment and solo players are a minority. Humanly, they probably care about some people getting frustrated but on the big picture, the rest of the players are more important (SWFs and not bleeding killers anymore)

I've accepted that I'll probably never be able to quit this game.
There's not really an alternative. If I dislike Battlefield, I can play CoD. If I dislike Fortnite, I can play Warzone. If I dislike DBD, I can play....DBD.
Unless the game is utterly ruined by some change, I'm cursed as well.
I've played VHS last year, I was part of the "lucky" ones. And the early fun vanished as soon as we became competent. It was also extremely exhausting for the monster. I got bored playing teen and I left. (The game hasn't improved much since so I guess it's not going anywhere).
I've played Propnight and the game was flawed too. Fun for a few hours, then the imbalance was obvious and I've left. I think the game is dead now.
I've played Evil Dead and, once again, the game was stupidly imbalanced. They've fixed some parts but it's still not good. (Altough I'm not even checking anymore)
You know what's the worst? I've got thousands of video games. 826 on Steam alone but I've got hundreds on every other gaming platform (I got them all) and I'm still coming back to DbD. The only exception has been the 172 hours spent on Elden Ring (to clear all the map).
I need an exorcist.
