  • There is an obvious lack of validation in the various states and contextes.

It feels like the server acts as a "dumb" message forwarder and the clients gobble everything mindlessly.

So a player can move at high speed, teleport m, change hook state, ... without triggering any kind of trap in the program.

The simple fact an EGC can start and not lead to the end of the match, holding players hostage, is kind of ridiculous.

    edit:

EAC and its kind can only do so much.

Those aren't the problems. He's facing bad survivors. It's clear as day. He doesn't even have the "unbeatable" Thana/Deadlock build, and he's playing NURSE!

You cannot seriously have watched the Nurse games and concluded that Nurse was a factor for the wins.

It was meant for a short summary of what his original post was tbh 😅

Oh that i know, that has been like this since day one.

It was merely to point out that the tactics he uses will work mostly on newer players.

I basically call every new account while having another account with a few hundred hours a smurf account.

Sure at some point MMR kicks in, but not that much that you play against high MMR players.

Even someone with a few thousand hours can still be an average MMR.

    Which is totally fine.

My point is just that when you get to a certain MMR, these tactics barely work anymore.

Bit the op thinks that it will work all the time, no matter the MMR 🤷🏼‍♂️

Number of hours doesn't guarantee an high MMR, yes. On the killer side it's obvious. I'm not versing the same kind with my Nurse or my Huntress than I do with my Trickster or Sadako. The thousands of hours survivor I verse usually tend to be pretty strong though.

Your point is exactly why I'm puzzled at the streak. No decent team will go down with these tactics, no way. Even the greenest survivor get the "if the killer camps, do gens and leave" message sooner or later.

Short summary from his post because it was very long.

He has 300 hours on mostly survivor.

But because he wanted to do this he didn't want his main account so he made a smurf account and thus started from the bottom of the MMR pool, which will get you, well.............. Beginner players or players who play this game maybe once a week.

As many pointed out is that this only shows that low MMR it is killer sided and that these tactics work because everyone is new or basically new.

The best this he could have done was playing solely killer for say 300 hours before doing this experiment, so at least he gets a bit of survivors who already know a bit more.

Tho they mostly are still learning.

The game being killer sided at the beginning is nothing new.

As I said earlier, 300 hours isn't a lot. I don't think the "smurf" affects the rating much.

But the MMR should kick in at some point.

If I win several matches with the same killer, I quickly go against 5k-hours teams or more. (Granted, I'm getting close to 3k hours).

I've got three accounts myself (I've tried to play against "myself" for some tests, and I've got an account on console) and I've been pitted against good players pretty quickly (maybe ten games).

You play selfishly or just don't care about the outcome. That's literally it. I get solo q is the hardest thing in dead by daylight but if you don't think solo q is possible then that's completely on you bud

I don't play too selfishly (as else we are toast) but I don't care too much about the outcome. I get about 50% escapes.

    Video helps.

I'm not convinced the reporting matters at all though, there's not transparency on action take from the BHVR side and they haven't addressed the issue to the community in a spirit of transparency, either.

So as far as I can tell, the reporting is a gigantic waste of time.

It helps. I've kept track of some of the stains I've reported and they got a ban.

Some streamers are keeping track too and showed the bans.

It's just not very practical to use.

  • I went against at least two cheaters tonight.

The first one, I only realized at the end : she was sprint-boosting every single time I was close. It was eerie. In the end game chat she had not a single sprinting perk. I didn't record it ...

The second one was way more stupid that the other parasite and started with an insta-gen and then teleported around me, hooked. 160MB of video only, it's probably my shortest one. (reported in game and with additional player information)

Can't sorry. We Switch players can no longer take Videos of matches...or it might just be me. I have a picture of the game and the area, but.

I hope BHVR will automate at least some basic server-side cheat detection some day.

  • If you have reported her and sent a video to BHVR using the additional player information, the devs will sort it out.

    Don't worry about it anymore.

  • There is no "other side". Most players are both killers and survivors.

Of course, there are some who only play one side. But they basically know only half the game (if even that) and I'm not sure their opinion on "the other side" carries much weight.

I played all the games with Nurse except the first few where I tried several killers.

All the games that you will see on the Youtube channel are a streak, I did not play any other game in between. I sometimes closed the game of course.

Starting from tomorrow I will record the whole series without interruption to prove the "streak" part. My queue times are quite long though so I'll have to check if my connection can handle that.

EDIT: if you don't understand what I mean by "triggered", watch the end game chat

There is no chat at the end. I presume they were salty.

Watch my last game and you'll understand (it's 6 min long):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_39bAfUBYwo

Warning: obnoxious game, do not watch if you're easily triggered.

I don't even understand the meaning of "triggered".

I have no doubt whatsoever that you can kill a lot of teams using camping and tunneling.

It's the streak part that's difficult. I'm willing to trust the wins are uninterrupted, but 300 hours isn't a lot for a player. If you get streaks the MMR is bound to send you against a SWAT team. When that happens, even getting one survivor would be a feat.

I'll check the video later if I have some time.

    edit: I've fast-forwaded it. (I'm a Nurse main, it's a bit ... difficult ;) )

If you get rage-quitters and dummies like these, yes, I understand that you get "wins". But you aren't supposed to get only their kind.

edit 2: are you switching killers by any chance?

  • I see some regression perks variation. Not even one quarter of my matches are against a Thanatophobia killer.

  • Either they don't know.

Either they are trying to rile-up the killer.

When they cry about anything you did, send your love and move on.

  • I'm having an hard time imagining that a 300 hours player can win 25 games in a row simply camping and tunneling.

Unless the MMR craps out completely you are bound to be matched against experienced survivors that will let you get away with at most one kill.

(I didn't read the whole thread, obviously)

Only names not blocked out are character names and my name

I'm pretty sure I'm reading one survivor's name (yours) and the killer's name.

  • The only notable part of that build is Devour Hope. Do it when necessary.

    Plaything? Ignore it.

    Do gens efficiently and leave.

  • Sounds like a good idea to me.

  • "It was at that moment she knew, she ######-up."

I must say I've never seen anyone do that though.

A typical exit down (usually followed by a DC) happens with survivor being pancake-flipped after a blink-hit mid tea-bag. Being impaled by a Gunslinger spear is another.

  • It may not be favorite, but it sounds like the start of an horror movie.

edit: you should follow the suggestion from @Triplehoo : showing names goes against forum rules.

  • Never had any complain. I usually even get some trinket.

What makes me uncomfortable is when survivors are "playing nice". (e.g. pity kill) thankfully it doesn't even happens once a year.

  • What was true was that at the highest level, a killer doing no mistake could lose.

The only way to win was for survivor to do mistakes.

    At the highest level.

That doesn't concern "any" of us.

  • Ah, it may be a good idea. Don't stop though.

That way, you'll see what teams are doing to counter you.

  • @AndreasB said:

i thought a main factor for this update was to stop tunnelling and camping but since the patch I’ve never seen it happen so often before it doesn’t make any sense considering it is now slightly harder to tunnel and killers have been buffed.

It was about shaking the meta.

It will never be about stopping camping and tunneling, at best these tactics may be discouraged.

  • I also felt I got slightly weaker killers today. (Still got a monster and several good/average ones)

If I've read correctly, you've only got one team with a rage-quitter/hook suicide and two bad teams? Nice. (And if I've counted correctly, half killers were camping/tunneling.)

Overrall, it seems you get good matches :)

    @Beatricks said:

Due to the Killer side of the game becoming easier since tunneling and camping are now easier and more rewarding than ever, more survivors who are decent, but not great, get bumped down to less experienced killers. That's why you are getting solid teams against weaker killers. It's the natural consequence of the nature of this patch and you can see lower MMR killers making threads that their games are actually even harder than before.

I suspect that the amount of rage-quitters/hook suicide in the lower MMR have "boosted" some low MMR killers a few level too high, that's all.

  • @Marigoria said:

How are you getting "pretty weak" killers though?

Like you don't know how the MMR works. The same way I'm getting pretty bad teammates, the same way my Nurse gets players in the two digits hours range, it could be a queue fill-up, it could be an over-correction for a killer who just won against rage-quitting babies.

Oh wait, "pretty weak" : it's relatively to me. I'm not speaking about beginners.

  • @ad19970 said:

I am happy to see when people are still able to do well after the patch in solo queue.

To be fair my problem with this new patch is not so much about the general balance but just the balance of particular strategies, camping and tunneling. They need to be nerfed properly.

The only other problematic part are slowdown perks that are just too strong at the moment, now with the 90 second gens. Thana and Pentimento are the biggest problems in my opinion. The baseline killer buffs were all great on the other hand.

Even though I am more of a killer main, I have to say, it makes me happy seeing so many people complain about long killer queue times. It makes me hopeful BHVR will do something soon enough.

I used to think so, now I'm not so sure anymore. I didn't find it that problematic but I don't know how it goes across the whole MMR range. I'm guessing we'll know how good/bad it is when BHVR tunes the changes on a next patch.

    @Dead_Harder said:

Iri is probably fine because you only get 1 chance. As some one who needs 10 to down some one, i wouldnt use it. Probably pretty devastating on some one that can pretty reliably hit their shots though.

It's a one shot you can get at close range or from far away (if you are good and aiming at unsuspecting auras)

I'm a average* as huntress and I know it would be deadly against all but the best survivors.

    * although I regularly manage cross-map hits

  • Nurse is fine, the only problem is with the speed boost of the range (and the range itself once they fix the map sizes)

It was a nice choice of subject to make views though, I'll grant that.

  • You are trying to fix the lack of coordination, and that's probably the right move. The devs are already busy doing that, albeit with additional information on the screen (I vaguely remember, it may change anyway).

Giving a fifth perk though would be quite OP. And, assuming groups of three are almost as strong as groups of four, what do you do for groups of two?

  • Record, report, the game will end at some point.

You could also try to simply record and do the "additional report", if the cheater isn't on Steam. Not sure it would work but you will not have to wait for another hour.

    Map : Midwich

    Killer : Nurse

Perks : Lethal pursuer, floods of rage, I'm all ears up, darkness revealed

    Add-ons : Kavanagh's last breath + Heavy Panting / Fragile wheeze

    😅

Oh yes, that last perk should make it more difficult to hide indeed. (I'm so rarely using perks on her now that I didn't think about it)

  • Sometimes I feel like the game is giving you the same map as long as you keep winning/losing, adapting your opponents/teammates.

Once you finally lose/win, the map changes.

  • What are you talking about?

My queues are the same as ever. The only advantage is that now I can also play survivor during the night to rest a bit after two or three killer matches.

  • @Marigoria said:

What MMR is that? No blights or nurses? Odd.

High enough to get a cheater, low enough to get rage-quitters. The teams are varying between good "~13" prestige and no prestige.

I would have loved to get a few Nurses though, these are usually the most interesting matches.

  • @Shaped said:

People jump to conclusions really fast. Some of them even throw the games that could be won easily judging mine or other survs auras without even knowing the context of our actions.

If people spent time doing their best they can instead of being immature and impulsive, solo q wouldn't be complained about nearly as much. But the problem is that people who complain do exact the same kind of complaining sort I mentioned does.

Not all of the people are like that tho and I encountered some really nice teammates too.

Indeed : they aren't the majority, thankfully. I've even met about 20 of my Steam friends in DbD.

You know you can just blink to a gen right? You can't just sit and hide you have no idea if the nurse is going to blink onto you. If you are losing on midwich as nurse you might not know you can blink up and downstairs.

Yeah, nobody told me that. Thanks for that most helpful tip.

More seriously, you know you can split on gens right? You know the Nurse doesn't systematically know where survivors are and there are many ways to make it very hard (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, after all, you know a Nurse can blink through the ... what was it, upstairs and downstairs? Right?)

    😂

  • The are more variations in the matches/builds than before.

M1 killers are easier than before.

Still some survivors ruining it for their team.

Half my solo-queue games are fine, the others I'm grouped with idiots (and, sometimes, I'm the idiot of the team ...)

  • Against "baby" survivors (to take your expression), yes, of course.

But good survivors can take advantage of all the hiding places in the map and use stealth. (Instead of, say, run everywhere, fast jump, ...)

I don't think I've won many games against stealthy survivors on that map.

  • If the bug is confirmed, they should disable the perk until it's fixed.

I'm using Overcharge + Call of Brine on all my weak killers.

  • The simplest explanation how to counter a Nurse is to play her.

That way you learn her power, her weaknesses, her range by sound, her limitations and you'll see what survivors do to counter you.

(The explanation is simple, following it isn't)

  • Over the last few years, I had one instance of survivors helping the killer, sandbagging, trolling (two little bastards who got reported with a lengthy video, along with the killer who went along) and maybe one or two idiots sabotaging the team for whatever reason.

From the killer's side now, I've got something slightly different: survivor(s) punishing another one guilty of the stuff above, or hiding all game without ever helping, or, recently, AFKing.

I usually notice the problem myself and deal with the bad survivor (meaning troll/unhelpful/afk) and then try to offset the handicap so the match isn't a total loss. That means a hatch, or some farming, depending on how I "read" the remaining team.

Lmaaaaaao. It's fine. I accept any and all criticism. I normally am the first to say I'm playing like #########. What did I say about DS ? Or did you mean dead hard ? Because I think I probably guessed OTR that match. If I'm remembering right.

Yea. I try to play as fair as I possibly can. Within reason of me trying to win. Feel free to watch more of the matches. Or stop by. Plenty of good blight matches that arnt complete ######### 🤣

You got DSed and were not sure about what it was, or something like that (I'm half asleep so I don't recall exactly anymore).

I'd like to watch a stream sometimes, the time difference doesn't help though. (I think it's at 22:00 here and I usually start the day at 05:00)

  • I'm not sure they'll do anything.

From what I've seen, beside throwers largely found in low MMR (obviously) the matches were more or less fine, about 50% of the time.

Very experienced. I just played like ######### I'm sure. On top of our friend juicing me more then good enough. That I figured ######### it. I'm getting someone out of the game ASAP. I'm certainly not robotic or perfect. We all have rough games.

Im actually curious to hear my own comments now 🤭. I think I normally just say I ######### up. Or good plays by them. Or willingly admit the maps are ######### for this killer(in this case blight). But I'm sure things just slip out sometimes

Ooooh, I'm officially an idiot ... and that's exactly why I should always keep my filter on ... 🤐

Don't mind me. I did that estimation simply because of the few misses/dead bursts and the comment/question about the DS kind of sold the idea. Also, you played "nice" (in my book anyway).

Yeah, we all have good games and bad games. One match I'm called a "god Nurse" (no such thing) by unlucky survivors, next match I get my ethereal ass handed to me fair and square with maybe one down.
