For the bloodpoints. Assuming you can escape afterwards, obviously. Albeit, with the glitch right now, even dying would be fine. Might as well attempt escape.
What glitch?

Everyone agrees on this. Nurse has a perfectly fine basekit, and is the most balanced killer in said basekit, but range on top of that is bullshit. Those are her only good add-ons as well, so I'm fine with nerfing them the the ground. They shouldn't exist, and they DEFINITELY shouldn't have been buffed.
Special attack is more or less whatever, because the best Nurse build doesn't have any M1 perks in it. All it does it cut down build variety, which isn't too big of an issue.
What everybody agrees in is that the speed boost of the range add-on should go.
Add long as we have stupid maps like Mother Dwelling, Eerie of Crows, ... the range add-on is necessary.

This is what happens when you add more time to gens AND killers stack a ton of slowdown perks (tunneling and camping as well). Survivors are trying to finish gens as quickly as possible.
Oh yeah, that never happened before xD

Just got yet another cheater tonight. I'm having a nice collections of videos displaying these parasites.
@Sparks741420 said:
tbh killers are more common to cheat and you don't need unbreakable to get up if you use a syringe or even if someone with lightweight or any type of scratch mark removal perk heals them. There are many perks that speed survivors up as well IE sprint burst lithe etc. but I will say this... survivors seem to love to flashlight lean which in all respect isn't "cheating" but definitely an exploit.
No, and the reason is obvious. The proportion of morons is the same for whatever role is played and there are 4 times more survivors than killers.
And as far as my personal experience go: I have accumulated a whole list of cheaters, met as survivor and as killer, and they all were survivors. Oh, wait, no : 3 years ago I met a Bubba cheater but that was it.

I would call that a great idea.

Aah that's not how slowdown works
You have to divide by the number of charges a survivor does. A survivor normally does 1 charge per second. If thana slows down that survivor by 22% they work at (1-0.22) 0.78 charges per second
Then you take the 90 charges to complete a gen and devide by the amount the survivor works to get how long it takes
So 90/0.78= 115.4 seconds
Here is a table about how long it takes with different versions of thana and gen times. This is without survivors bringing anything
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ADQCGOR0WGV2/unknown-1.png
Oh, so it doesn't increase the time required for a generator but reduces the speed at which work is done. Good to know.
-
Favourite : Nurse, almost pure mind-games (against adequately matched opponents)
Least favourite : Sadako, do I really need to explain?
There are a lot of killers that are fun to play, and a few that I don't like at all.
-
If I'm a survivor : b
If I'm the killer, they'll get slugged to death, farmed and tea-bagged on by the real survivors.

Where do you get the 13.8 from if i may ask? I could have made a mistake
i don't think co-op or speedboosting perks were changed so there is no real difference in that department from before and after the big update.
Unless i'm missing some
I took the numbers you've put in the post and simply did : 1.22 * 90 - 1.2 * 80
The comment about the cooperation or perks is just to see what that number becomes in these cases, and I didn't even think about toolboxes.
I never use these myself so I don't know the numbers. The killer has brought a perk to slow gens down? What if survivors do the same? With toolboxes? Together?
It should be a nice table.

BHVR: You guy have been giving comments about how Nurse and Blight are very strong killers, So in regards to that, we Decided to nerf Mettle of man. We also decided to destroy thana because.... idk just because
They explained why they've changed MoM and Thana.
They have numbers, and make decisions based on these, not based on the comments. They know the MMR differences, when a player DCed, AFKed, killed himself on hook, ... and they see it for all the games instead of a microcosm.
If Thana really doesn't work anymore, they'll tune it again.

@Sonzaishinai said:
20% of 80 charges vs 22% of 90 charges is a difference of 15 seconds
To get the value thana had if gens were still 80 base then it would have had to be buffed to 7,5% per survivor to a max of 30%
I know they did thana dirty but saying "it got only buffed by like 2%" is just wrong.
13.8, not that it far off.
It is really 2% ... it's just not the whole picture.
Thinking about it, this is only if a survivor does a generator alone, which would be typically done in a gen-rush.
I don't recall the buffs doing gens cooperatively, or with speed-boosting perks. (Because they exist too.)
-
None. Worst case scenario they have one usable perk.
-
It's a perfectly valid way to play. A killer cannot down you if he can't find you.
I would even recommend it against some killers, especially if one has trouble in chases against it.
edit:
This kind of play has a high success rate against my Nurse. But the whole team has to play accordingly. If there is one survivor isn't "immersed", then if he can't drop the chase, he is dead.
-
Obviously.
Usually inexperienced players.
The funniest one IMHO is the typical locker-hiding "Dwight" who gives me an heart-attack when I'm only trying to reload hatchets ...
Yeah, how could have possibly opened the locker he was in without him leaving any clue?

A few months ago, following the tutorial update, every builds was cleared and I went into several matches without a build ready.

For the next few days, several killer and survivor games were started without a build (yeah, I can be a bit absent-minded sometimes)

I've never lost my cool on this game like when I did that archive. Nurse, Lery's. Couldn't find anyone, couldn't hear anyone, even their screams were drowned out by the background mumbling 3X louder than whispers.
I was hyperventilating after that game because I felt like I had just been ear-raped.

I would have lost. My. #########.
My first try was with Huntress, if you can imagine. I've tried it for a minute then went to rant on the forum while the survivors were finishing the match.
My second try was on Doctor (misery loves company, and it was close enough). I played with a very strong motivation never doing that again and the survivors didn't enjoyed one second of it. Once the 6 hooks were obtained, I waited for the match to end.
So much fun. /s

She has counterplay, it just barely works against good nurses with good addons.
I agree that the speed boost of the range addons can be an issue.
It would be more difficult to convince me about more (not that it matters, does it?)
I believe that if strong nurse were more common (and better matched against these strong survivors) they would consistently win. She is pure mind-game. The speed boost however may help brute-forcing it, hence it should be "fixed" (and it alone).

My goal is to demonstrate that someone with barely any experience on killer can get an absurd level of success with anti-fun strategies and with little skill involved.
And your response to that, is that, if I would play the worst killer in the game (Wraith), WITHOUT addon, and against high MMR players, maybe I would get looped to death and fail. Like OK but why? You are completely missing the point.
The point of my thread is not to nerf killer for people who play fair for survivors or constraint themselves to absurd loadouts.
The point is that, maybe YOU are nice and play Wraith and survivors have a good game against you, but that's not the typical killer experience these days. You have to realize, for one person that plays killer like you do, there will be one person who plays killer like I do, trying as hard as possible to win even if that means using douche strats and making the survivor experience miserable. The state of Wraith is irrelevant to this discussion, the developers could perfectly nerf every douche strategy without altering the experience for killers who are not using these strategies. In fact, by advocating for these douche strats to stay in the game, you are accepting to let the killrates be much higher than they should, and killer role will probably end up getting nerfed, including Wraith.
In my experience, mindless campers are uncommon. Maybe 10% of what I verse. Even when they are Bubbas.
Tunnelers are a bit more common. Slightly more since the patch, but a lot of them are pretty bad.
The only reason they get a kill out two is I'm groups with survivors who have no clue how to handle it.
That being said, I agree the main reason you've won all these matches was because of that tactic, not because of the killer.

I agree with you Pulsar but you have to admit the suicide hooks and DCs are getting problematic. I do think some of them are doing it to inflate kill rates like with Spirit, remember just before her Nerf alot of players were reporting that survivors were dying on first hooks.
Now mind you that's all speculation and no real proof that it happened to cause her Nerf or it was just a coincidence.
Even if all this is random acts of baby-ism it still will affect kill rates (minus the DCs since those are not tallied in kill rates)
All that being said....I think alot of survivors are overreacting a tad bit. Yes I agree the DS stun of 3 secs was much I would just be happy it not activate after doors are powered like it is now.
The Gen times are not as bad as people say I was able to do 3 gens by myself with Thanta slowing us down. The issue I saw was in most cases no one healed and most games was NOT against a Vommy Mommy or Legion. If I didn't care more about my teammates getting healed I probably would of got all gens repaired....but not escape because of them refusing to heal. In some of those matches it was against Oni.....
It's kind of nice to see a rational view of the issue.

That's not them blackmailing bhvr that's just solo queue being awful. Like that was the exact pre-patch experience too.
Pre-patch, the matches with one AFK survivor were pretty rare. With two or three, several times a day? When survivor queues aren't ten minutes long anymore? It's not like before.
You may actually be into something. If it's indeed a running hypothesis, it may have influenced some to do it ... especially if there is some popular streamer talking about it.

Actual clownery.
Tell me where I said anything of the sort. Take a step back and think.
It's very clear it's only a minority, as most players are part of "the entire survivor population". I may have played more survivor than killer myself these last couple of weeks.
All it needs is a few jerks with that stupid idea that ruining games will get the changes reverted. They don't need to coordinate, they only need to believe the same idiocy.

The multitude of hacks available for virtually all UE games is somehow not proof enough? There's even kits specifically made for hacking UE. I won't link any of that here, naturally. If you deny it you're either ignorant or simply a fanboy of the engine.
Servers literally do run lighter version of the games w/o any graphics, and they could indeed do visibility checks. Either through BSP or modern occlusion culling, essentially ask "for this location, is this other location visible?". These things can be pre-computed and cached, acting more like a look-up table. It's not costly at runtime. It's just not part of UEs base kit as data security and anti-cheat hasn't been prioritized.
Data encapsulation is a very basic concept in programming and it has not been respected in regards to networking in UE, where data to all clients is shared. It IS very poor practice.
No, you see, the issue in your statement is that "notorious" part. Any engine has the same issue. We aren't talking about military-grade software here. Trying to insult people will not give your opinion any more weight, quite the contrary. (But I have my answer nonetheless : not substantiated)
You have a very personal definition of "not costly". Memory, CPU, time : it's always the same balance. Whatever algorithm is used, it's not free. It's certainly more expensive than what they are doing at the moment. You also have to remember maps aren't static and running servers costs money bound to CPU and memory usage.
It's quite obvious they didn't have any kind of safety in mind while writing the game. It used to run on the killer's computer. There are however very cheap (as in a couple hundred CPU cycles) ways to mitigate most of the current problems.
Data encapsulation has nothing to do at all with any of this, under any of its definition in the field. (And I certainly hope you didn't use to mean "obfuscation".)
If instead you meant to tell to only give the relevant information to the clients, it's not a "programming concept". It's a basic optimization, and it's not always the best choice.
-
Huntress and Legion
-
I have a few ideas myself ...
- Inconsiderate for the other players?
- No spine?
- Lacking even a iota of competitiveness?
- Complete ignorance of the concept of delayed gratification?
- Child-like mind?
- No authority figure?
And don't say "survivors". It's only a minority. The game is just fine when you get away from them. (Although to get cheaters.)
-
I hope you have reported them appropriately.

Yeah its really hard to understand why they don't have basic checks (like running with x speed impossible, or gens can't be insta repaired etc), maybe the game code is even bigger mess than thought.
Even if the game code was a mess, it's not rocket science to keep some state about the actors (to keep the UE terminology) and check for impossible status. It's not rocket science either to send the transition when the EGC ends. There are bits somewhere with that information. Worst case scenario, grafting a separate state machine in the code with that purpose would do it.
@NinthCrystal said:
It's made with Unreal Engine and it is notorious for being easy to hack and poor practices in general in regards to netcode. All data for all clients is replicated even though it's only relevant for some. So for example position for players that aren't even visible is communicated to everyone anyway. That's why wall hacks and stuff like that are possible (it isn't in for example Dota 2, where such information is not shared with client unless player is visible). This is true for all UE games by default.
You'll have to point out to references about that "notoriously easy-to-hack" and "poor practices" for the UE4 netcode. As far as I know it works just fine.
I'm sure you realize the only way to not send everybody's position would be for the server to have a local, simplified, version of the map so it could do occlusion computations. It's not exactly cheap.
Of course, for a 2D game like Dota 2, there is no such computations required. Limiting the data sent to an area slightly bigger than what the player can see is trivial.

Why WOULD you continue a match that is completely lost? It would be more rational to give up and go to the next match.
The one part of the update that I dislike the most is how lose/lose situations as survivor happen way more often. The beauty of playing killer is that those lose/lose situations can be prevented through skill. Survivors were just unlucky sometimes pre patch. Now it's a consistent game after game soul-crush. How is that fun?
Learning.
Improving.
If it's "lost" there is always something to take.
Humans learn with their mistakes. In these "lost" games, these mistakes will basically be free because it was already over anyway.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/338407/why-is-it-so-easy-to-hack-this-game
The game almost entirely client sided, peer to peer, so its very easy to cheat.
Peer to peer or heavily client sided games like dbd main advantage for developers that it's very cheap to maintain servers for it, on other hand its impossible to defend against cheaters in this kind of system.
It's not the fault of cheat detection system, you can imagine dbd like a house made of paper, and cheat protection like a door, even if it made impossible to go through the door, robbers can just go through the paper walls anyway, the whole foundation is flawed.
Solution?
Rewrite the game to be server sided, everything validated through servers.
Why devs won't do this?
Easy to cheat current client sided game cost them 1x money cost to maintain.
Very hard to cheat server sided game 10x money cost to maintain.
It would cost lot of money to maintain a game like that.
Thats why usually most company don't bother with it, but even then they have more server checks than dbd.
DbD is just really outdated in terms of security
The game doesn't need to be server-sided (assuming you mean everything on the server, the server is the absolute truth). I'm not even sure it could work properly (it's not a shooter).
All they need to do is to add some basic checks and it will filter-out most cheaters and eliminate the most annoying problems (hostage situation).
-
I agree the perk seems useless. The proposed changes seem a bit strong though.
-
I'm all for raising it, starting to 15 minutes. I'm against the BP penalty.
There is a condition though: whatever allows casual scum to hold the game hostage when the EGC ends must be fixed first

I didn't really have to. He's! Nurse! The #1 killer that survivors have complained about the most in recent months, and who has probably the only legitimate complaints levied against her. What other killers have to do to get survivors, who at least know how to run loops, is give them a head start, catch up, mindgame the window/pallet or brute force the pallet drop/entity blocker, hit them ONCE, catch up to the sprint burst, repeat the previously mentioned loop shenanigans, hit them again FINALLY and only then do they get the down. That's without body blocks, instaheals, exhaustion perks, having to brute force Bloodlust, etc. What does Nurse have to do? Blink close to them, blink closer, hit, repeat, down. The survivors can try to mindgame her, but she can mostly wait it out, or predict them as equally as they're predicting her, and that all results in a 10-second(?) longer chase. So of course Nurse is gonna be able to win more consistently by face camping, because survivors can't put anything between her and them. Unless you want to explain to me how non-Nurse M1 killers can beat good survivors just by face camping, which the OP has failed to do, I'm not buying any of this. Therefore, we don't need to nerf killers or roll back buffs because "face camp = ez win".
Yeah, no. I'm sorry. If you saw these matches and though "yeah, Nurse is really too strong", I can't really take you seriously on that subject.
