Well that seems like an oversight in regards to Babysitter. It’s a shame I won’t be able to run my full medic build anymore. It could be a godsend in solo queue when teammates were being hard slugged.
It does seem so but it's been mentioned plenty of times and they haven't done anything, and it's a simple values changes. That, or they could make the off-hook protections their own status effect (like Bloodlust) instead of two normal ones.
Healing was probably hit the hardest. After that it was mostly haste. Team gen perks like Prove Thyself also are reduced if the other person has something like Deja Vu or Resilience because it also works against teammates' builds.
I was using Dying Light and Thano on Plague but that got nerfed so I switched Dying to Pain Res. Because the game really needed more Pain Res.

I haven’t played the game in a few months but does this affect healing builds? For example, if I wanted to bring We’ll Make It, Botany Knowledge, Do No Harm and Empathic Connection would I no longer do a really fast heal? I’m a little lost on what diminishing returns actually does.
Edit: I re-read your main post and realised you did mention heals. So I guess my medic build is dead in the water? This is the issue. The game doesn't explain it to you at all in-game. But yeah, your build is nerfed. Things that apply percentages like healing speed, gen speed, and haste or hinderd are reduced in value with each subsequent perk added to the build.

What has been nerfed with Babysitter? I use that perk quite a lot as it seems to really help a lot in solo queue when the killer decides to proxy camp / tunnel.
The haste in Babysitter clashes with the basekit haste off hook.
-
I think it was mostly a bad and lazy idea so far. They have too many perks to juggle and don't want to think about their applications and end up with accidental busted synergies so they just did this. But it didn't touch the most meta perks on either side. Survivor is still a blend of SB/Lithe, Vigil, Windows, DH, DS, and the occasional Stakeout/Hyperfocus and killer is almost all gen blockers and regress with maybe an aura thrown in. Not sure why they wanted to further narrow the meta. I also think it's stupid there's nothing in the game explaining to you your specific build is diminished. I see people running diminished builds all the time and they probably have no idea.
And the fact that it nerfed Babysitter is so dumb.
-
I love the Wraith skin and I'm glad for another Plague skin too. None of the survivors are ones I play so I'm pretty neutral there. Their masks are meh but I like seeing more survivor masks in general. If nothing else, at least some less represented survivors are getting cosmetics. I'm hoping they expand the collection cause I like the concept a lot.

I would support it. But then again, who would actually play the game at that point?
If I have time to play, I play. I'd only really use this when I'm at work or something. Just pop into a couple matches while I'm on lunch.

It'd be nice if there was a global spectate feature where you could watch random games, full anonymous mode and all five player POV's.
I hate that the only way to watch gameplay of this game is to watch content creators. It's annoying. It would actually be super cool if you could spectate random matches. I'd totally toss that on in the background and see how other people respond to things. Would be a great learning tool.

Doesnt change the fact that if survivors all take luck offering and some perks a swf can basicaly have all guarantee unhook which totaly kills killers preasure and especialy the weaker killers one. I believe it hasnt been nerfed till today just people rather run full meta build like ds,dh,shoulder plus another strong perk.
Luck no longer stacks. It was nerfed wiith diminishing returns.

Oh lmao. So same as it was 6 years ago. Perfect.
This meme is that old:
Still relevant.
-
The answer to this seems obvious: dead players can tell their teammates what the killer is doing. It's the same reason they can't even see the killers perks. This could only work with a playback option.
-
Nothing has changed because nothing has changed. The same stuff is driving matches years later. Same perks, same tactics. And any effort to shift that is met with online outrage. So people will keep being mad but they'll also stop any progress that could make change.
And yeah you're definitely not allowed to have fun. If you express that sentiment you are clearly low MMR, bad at the game, throwing, or lying. Misery very much loves company in this community. There are some people who never do anything but whine and the tribalism has been off the charts lately.
-
Pretty sure they didnt think it through. Assuming basement registers as a lower floor, he's about to be one of the number one basement campers on top of being an overbearing tunneler and hex nightmare.
-
I played against this perk a lot and it was so incredibly mid. Another one killed more by outrage than performance. Hope everyone loves every match staying SB, Vigil, Windows, DS, DH, and all the same stale perks that will stay meta if nothing can even try to compete.
-
It's been about the same for me for awhile, though my play time in survivor has dropped considerably, so my sample size has shrunk. Smart unhooks are a big deal, but it's much easier in SWF.
The one thing that should have gone through from the anti-tunnel ptb was Elusive off-hook. People don't stop doing unpleasant things unless something external makes them do so. There's zero punishment for cheesing and its very easy, and easy is what many people want. They don't want skill expression. They don't want to improve. They don't want to get cool orbitals. They don't want to impress anyone by two hooking before killing. They want to play Ghoul with busted add-ons and easily win. That's where this game is at right now. It's gotten stupider and stupider to where it nearly plays itself.
I don't use perks that I might not get value from, like DS, but I suggest trying Lucky Break. I always get use from it. I either escape a chase for free, or I get to run away after unhook with no trail. Often I get both those things. I rarely get tunneled myself because of it.

I didn't ever say it was Jasons I said there were multiple lobbies of killer bots so that queue times for survivors wouldn't jump through the roof when killers quit en mass, which did happen for quite a bit of time, excuse me for having hundreds of videos of proof you could easily pull up on Youtube. But who am I to argue with somebody who will completely disregard evidence to benefit their argument. 🤯
You completely missed the point. Why would they make killer queues artificially longer so that real players have to wait more? No one wants a longer queue to wait in. Survivor bots make way more sense than killer ones.
Killers are never quitting en masse. This victim narrative has been going on for years. Yet they remain. There have also been periods where survivor queues were consistently longer than killer ones. The game still functioned.
And you know directing to YouTube as "evidence" is a meme, right?
-
If you win consistently your MMR goes up. You gain more MMR from players who have more, so if you beat good, experienced players your MMR skyrockets. This is why cheese tactics and easy mode killers are so bad for the game. There's no slow progression and learning period like there should be. There's just immediate sweaty matches.

For a bit more context on my situation I spent years believing and sticking with the thought of tunneling and slugging is bad so I had it engraved into my head that I don't like to do it to others because when I played survivor I didn't like it. So now when I do try to do things such as tunnel or slug I fail a lot because I don't know how to do it properly while also having the mindset of I need to learn everything killer in the game I try using all killers bad or not and nearly every time I use a really strong killer my chances go from 1 in every 12 chances to 1 in every 4 chances it could more then likely be a skill issue but I hear so much over and over that this game over the years has favored survivors more then killers and honestly I can't help but see it a bit and in my head the power role should always have a some form of control but it seems that a lot of the time you lose it when you go against swfs or really good survivors 24/7
People who do very well with so called low tiers usually put a lot of time into them. If you like those killers, devote the time. Hard focus. But there's no reason to play evey killer if you don't enjoy them. I play killers whose powers I find fun. Satisfying gameplay is more enjoyable to me than winning, but that's a mindset thing.

Same. Had like an 80% KR over 150ish matches. Was great. I miss it already.
The BMing goes in waves for me. I'll have sessions where it's basically every match but then I'll have several with no BMing at all.

Your first question was "Why?" Well why not, as a temporary game mode?
It would change things up, in what many could agree is a very stale game.
It might give the more obscure killer perks a chance to shine.
Maybe it wouldn't have as much of an effect on match outcomes as you think it would.
I think it is worth a try.
If it turns out to be too killer-sided after the first week, give the survivors morsels for the second week.
I really think they should try "let's just try crazy stuff" temporary modifiers rather than 2v8 and Chaos Shuffle on repeat.
Why would anyone queue up for survivor in a mode that's just a killer buff with nothing else to it?

They dont need slowdowns either, killers move fast enough, plus get the free in game speed hacks if they are chasing long enough. Im also not talking about removing all aura (wall hack) perks abilities from killers only, but everyone. No one should see auras of gens, survivors or the killer. Only the hooked survivors, fast vault and pallet noised and exploding gens should be seen. Nothing else
Slowdown means anti-gen perks, like regression and gen blockers. You're slowing down gens, not players. You're thinking of chase perks.

For me, it got to the point where I actually got to be a dweet's first dbd match, lol. Kinda wished I took a screenshot of my Jason kill percentage before I took the kid gloves off.
Can you even drop a single killers MMR low enough to get babies if you have a steady base KR orherwise? Every time I try a new-to-me killer it's a sweatfest of experts while I have no idea how to use the character.
I get these occasionally too though I think they must be backfill or something. I had one not too long ago with 40 hours. Even messaged them to confirm. I had a Laurie recently with one green default perk and they played like it too. Then, in the same night, a survivor with 8k hours. The matchmaking is inexplicable.
-
I'd rather them just change the way the sabo toolboxes look visually so they can be identified in lobby. My biggest issue when I see a lobby with 4 toolboxes is I don't know if I'll have an engaging match of aggressive plays or a quick match of fast gens and prerunning.

It needs to be removed, killers shouldnt get a free I win perk to start. All aura perks need to be removed other than seeing when people are on the hooks. Killers should have to work for their hooks, not get a freebie because of hand holding perks
Would you prefer 4 slowdowns?

I only generally use it on my main, on whom I never take it off. I need that early pressure or I'm cooked.

Kinda off topic abit but... the anniversary might be skewing the numbers. Im not sure how many other ppl do it, but I made it a habit to 2 hook everyone who brought BP offerings which resulted in TONS of 4 man escapes and my killrate on Jason being horrid. Considering there wasn't much time BEFORE the event to play him, I think my average killrate on him went down to like 30%. Thats not the kinda numbers the devs would wanna show.
I think you're in an extreme enough minority there. For everyone playing nice there's 100 people slugging for the 4k. A bunch of nice Jasons definitely aren't what made my survivor play rate plummet over the last month. I think they more likely wouldn't want to show an 70%+ KR, if anything.

I actually saved a clip of this to show a dumb cross map blind shot. The guy I hit was the bot, lol. Even if there's 3 human survivors left though, can we at least agree that the odds of winning are different than if there was 4 humans? This data doesnt help reflect how 4 human survivors would handle things. While sure, you have cases of ppl DCing while being carried to the hook... which is dumb, you also have a ton of ppl who DC after the first chase of the match.
I'm well aware that bots are easy to beat. Them being an autowin for killers is part of the problem. If DCs are tossed matches I don't see why the matches should even continue. It currently feels like it's counting when I'm trapped in a match that's impossible to win. They still show up on your personal stats too, so the two sets of numbers with always clash.
The numbers are simply always going to be incomplete with the little slivers of adjusted data (or just downright incorrect, considering the inflated survivor personal stats) we get.
-
I've known people who could be counted in the "greatest ever" category and let me tell you, that is not conducive to having a live. They have 90% KRs but with 10k+ hours in the game. They're obsessed with winning, are chronically online, and are in desperate need of therapy. Being the best ever means devoting your life to this silly game. You are much better off just picking a killer you find fun to play and not stressing yourself out over not winning every match.

Yes, I have, and it’s extremely rare. People always like to say that 4-man SWF bully squads are not a problem because they are extremely rare and I agree with that to some extent. But in my experience, slug for 4K killers who are actually successful at winning this way consistently are just as rare, if not more so.
For the people who still think this is a big problem - go play 10 matches as killer and try to win by slugging only and let us know how it goes. I’ve never had much success winning with this playstyle.I couldn't even tell you if bully squads still exist. People like to call a lot of things bullying but a true bully squad that smurfs to bully would be a baby level problem. I havent seen anyone I'd describe that way in years because I'm no longer bully-able, nor would any player that has time in the game be. The 4man Infectious slugging I see pretty frequently, at least a few times a month. I had a Billy do it last time i played a long survivor session.
Yeah no I'm not gonna do something I hate.

Showing that hes good at killing bots isn't the same as showing he can kill PLAYERS. We all know bots dont act the same as normal players and unfortunately ppl dont DC just when they're losing anyway. I had someone DC against me the other night within 10 seconds of the match starting.
Sure, but a huge chunk of DCs are people doing so out of frustration when they're already losing, or if they're being hard tunneled. I see more of that the immediate random DCs in both my survivor and killer matches. The kill rates will always appear lower if those are removed because of how common DCs are and how often those are killer wins.
And yeah, being good against bots doesn't mean anything, but if someone DCs there are still 3 other people in the match who have to go against the killer.

My preference would be to remove all abandons except for all survivors slugged/hooked, and in that case, the abandons count as kills. Easy peasy. Don’t know why this is so hard for BHVR to do.
There are two options for how long this has been going on and how much it's been pointed out to them:
1. It's not easy.
2. It's intentional.
I can't imagine it's hard to make abandon cause the player is registered as dead instead of just gone. Hopefully the MMR rework changes this because if anything is screwing up matchmaking it's people taking their MMR with them when they die, or killers not gaining any when they win.

What I don’t understand is how slugging is somehow stronger than hooking. In either case, the survivor team needs to somehow coordinate who is going for the pickup or unhook. And of course that is much easier when survivors are coordinating on comms. If a whole team is getting found and downed so quickly that nobody has time to go pick up a slugged teammate, how would it be any different than if those survivors were hooked instead of slugged? They would have lost badly in either case. It’s because the survivors were either really bad or the killer was really good. It’s not because slugging is a stronger tactic.
Have you played against people like this? The killer gets momentum without hooking. They down someone, usually with very specific group of mobility killers, and Infectious Fright allows them to zoom to the next one, while Coulrophobia under stress makes pick ups exremely difficult. Down, Infectious scream, repeat. The team either can't get out of Infectious range fast enough (if it's even possible on the map), or they keep spending time picking up and being downed over and over instead of doing gens. Hook states don't matter once all four are downed. I've had matches end in a couple minutes. It works because people don't go in expecting it, and have no basekit tools to counter it.
Slugging at strategic or convenient moments that appear over the course of a regualr match isn't the issue. It's players that load in intending to exploit a particular system with certain perks and certain killers. It's extremely effective.
-
This is the sort of thing you think when you don't regularly play against high hour killers running slug builds intending to slug the whole team. It is not manageable against a Blight when you have no anti-slug perks, especially with no coordination, and the killers doing it know that and exploit it.

I’d be totally fine getting rid of all abandons as well for the reasons you mentioned. But as long as survivors are allowed to abandon just for getting slugged a few times, there is no legitimate reason to not let killers leave when the gates are open.
Aside from further messing up MMR and thus matchmaking? Why make it worse just because it's already bad? That repeated slugging abandon was just a bad idea. Bad ideas shouldn't be expanded upon, they should be reverted.
-
@Your_Dad_Playing_DbD said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4100378#Comment_4100378
All they would need to do is either program the killer bot stand still until the match ends or go to check open gates and try to M1 any survivors in the area. That can be done easily for all killers, so there’s no excuse. Any honest player will admit that there is no good reason to force a killer player to stay in the match once the gates are open. Then match is over. Survivors get to DC for free once the match is over. Literally the only reason to force killer players to stay in the match once gates are open is increase the opportunities for teabagging at the exit gates. If someone wants to provide an actual legit reason to require killer to stay in the match, I’m happy to listen.
Currently abandons remove matches from survivor personal stats, inflating their ERs by deleting many losses. That's bad for the game because it gives a false sense of accomplishment and, at this point, with it having been talked about over many posts here and with mods absolutely having seen them but never addressing the points, it feels intentional.
As far as anyone can tell, bots are empty shells with no MMR, so if the killer slugs 4 people and they abandon, the killer gains no MMR, and the survivors don't lose any. The abandon system currently allows killers to smurf with slower MMR gains, and survivors to keep MMR they should have lost.
Until these things are fixed I'll remain against the abandon option in all cases.

For the killer, having a group of survivors body block a hook is incredibly frustrating.
And it is blatantly listed as a reportable option. So….
Yes… it is toxic. And yes… it is bannable.
Thanks for coming out.
I should also acknowledge that if that is your only response to all of my points… your opinion seems fairly irrelevant.Swarming the hook isn't "toxic". It's annoying, but it's also a strategy. Just because people don't like things doesn't make them toxic. This word gets thrown around way too casually.
The type of body blocking that's bannable has already been explained to you. It's the type where the other person is completely unable to act. This killer keeping me trapped in this corner until the other person bleeds out is what's bannable:
Killers can hit survivors and the game still progresses normally. It isn't possible to body block a killer in a bannable way becuase they can still act.
And here's a very old comment from Mandy explaining it as well:
And I have nothing to say to your other points because you aren't saying anything interesting.

MMR-based matchmaking still exists in events but the split queue causes more erratic matchmaking with a divided player pool. Erratic doesn't mean you'll crush, it could also mean you'll get crushed.

Yes, in BHVR's data (Which is all games) the Kill Rate is probably higher than the Data you are seeing on NightLight. I wouldn't be surprised if the higher tier Killers are actually sitting at 60%+.
BHVR excludes any match with a DC from the stats and those are usually killer wins, so the killer rates are likely even higher than what little they show us.
-
Saying Nightlight is the right place for BHVR to collect data shows a complete lack of understanding about how anything works. BHVR has all the data for every bracket, every killer, every player. They're just not showing it to us. People who use Nightlight can just choose to upload their bad matches if they want to keep this very common narrative going. There's also zero indication that they're upper MMR, and even if they were I'm not sure why that matters. Upper MMR isn't made up of lords and princes who decide how the game will be for the peasants below. They don't get any more say than anyone else.
But wow, this community has hit a point of delusional where they think the average player has more knowledge of the game than those that make it.
-
I had a match like this as killer last night. Ended up as a 4k at 5 gens but went on for 15 minutes. I could see everyone give up on gens because I had so much momentum (and on Forgotten Ruins, no less) so they started going for engaging chases. flashlight/pallet saves, and pick ups. It was actually pretty fun. Some people do this, just try to engage and practice against that particular killer, and others shut down and hide or farm unhooks.
Personally I start thinking about hatch. Not neccessarily for me but for someone on the team. We usually get someone out with a hatch offering. It's nice to get one out when the match is such an immediate wash.

I think there's an incredibly important part to add to your comment: tunnelling isn't fun. I literally am facing tunnellers in EVERY SINGLE MATCH. And it just is boring and not enjoyable for anyone:
- If you're the person being tunnelled… looks like you spend your match hanging out (literally), and attempting to run from the killer.
- If you're someone trying to help your teammate, you risk immediately being downed or having to body block, which is also toxic behaviour and reportable.
- If you try to burn gens, you just sit there doing skill checks while your teammate dies.
- And if you're the killer, you wait around the hook until someone comes in and you immediately run back and tunnel.
This kind of playstyle is ruining the game. Sure, you can say that I'm bad and should get better. Okay. But I don't see why I would bother getting better if the game is just going to be boring.
And unfortunately, many killers do this to be toxic. They tunnel at 5 gens, which ruins the game for others. I get it if the match is down to 2 gens with few hooks; as a killer, you need to reestablish pressure. But at 5 gens…. And every game???
I really hoping something can be done. I used to love this game, but now it's just frustrating and boring. I uninstall it regularly because I don't want to waste my time, but then I remember how good it used to be and try again. Only to be in 5/5 matches with someone who tunnels.
And before you say "stop crying, survivor main", I acknowledge I am a survivor main. I only play solo (I don't think I've played in a SWF for at least 5 years). I do, however, play killer (specifically Houndmaster and the Spirit), and I always avoid tunnelling because of how much I hate it on the other side and how boring it is to play for everyone. Some matches are a struggle, sure, but I often get 3 or 4 kills without tunnelling. I seldom even tunnel against a bully squad (likely because I'm not good enough).
I really hope the devs do something. It's not enjoyable when you face off with a tunneller and/or camper in every match. It's just boring and frustrating, which is not what I look for in a game. But maybe that's my problem. I have to be willing to accept this game is boring, repeative, and frustrating if I want to play it.
Body blocking is not toxic or reportable

I feel like we are stuck in a circle at tis point.
""only meta killers" = "obnoxius killers" = "complained about killers" = "buffs" = "cycle repeats".
If the idea is "bad killers" can't complain about being bad, than surely the same can be extended to survivors ya? If you aren't running a strong survivor loadout or speaking with buddies on coms you lose the right to complain. Just like the example above. "why are you playing trapper/ghostfacee when they are so bad".By meta killers do you mean 3/4s of the roster? Most are fine. Some need work.
You can play whatever killer you want but using the lowest on the scale is disingenuous to the overall conversation. "What about Trapper" has become a joke. You're free to play them, and plenty of people do very well on them, but don't act like there's a whole game problem because of Skull Merchant or something.
I'm not sure why you keep talking to me about survivor stuff that has nothing to do with this. And not everyone has some catalog of friends they can play with at any moment. You can, however, pick whatever killer you like at any time.

This happens to me almost only when playing killer, almost always during an action too, like kicking a gen or putting someone on a hook. And it 100% only happens when I'm winning. Never once has it saved me from a losing match.
I've seen it happen to another killer only once that I can recall. It was a Nurse who started rubber banding and sliding along walls. The rest of us were able to move fine, though on her end it probably didn't look that way.
It's pretty obnoxious but I can deal with it as long as I don't get a random 0k from it, which sometimes happens and sometimes doesn't. Luckily it doesn't happen to me enough for a penalty.

I feel like most non insta down killers were "nerfed" for a variety of reasons. Bubba throwing poison onto a survivor and backrevving into an insta down did not care at alll about the survivors health state nor table state in the event. Howeer if you were playing say ghostface or trapper, even with throwing poison onto a survivor, there was a massive differennce in that you chasing a survivor who got insta healed mid chase could not be overcome by anything you (the killer) did.
You're using the 2 most stereotypical scapegoat "weak" killers in the game as examples. They're used to talk about how weak killers are in 1v4 too, even though it's always just those two and maybe Pig that seem to be the problem.
And Ghostface is an instadown killer. Poison should theoretically go hard on him. Mark, poison, free down.

I mean, BHVR has never done it, but would you be opposed to the opposite? "Annoying killers should be nerfed". Where is that cross for survviors? "Annoying perks should be nerfed - lets introudce an event that doubles all exhaustion timers and turns vigil off"
and yes yes we all know the story of "Ive never played killer before, I hopped on trapper and 4k'd 5000 times during banquet" sorry if I dont' believe you/don't really think most of the survviors you played were at your skill level if you overwhelmingly 4kd non-stop.I'm not sure what super strong killers were nerfed in the event? Some less common ones just went harder than normal. I'm also not sure why you're approaching the event as though it was a killer nerf event. Survivors had more, but poison was super strong, and unlike very loud invisibilty and easy to ignore invincibility, it wasn't counterable if they got poisoned in the open.
I'm pretty on the record being anti exhaustion and anti Vigil so I'm afraid that gotcha particular isn't gonna work. I couldn't care less if they deleted those perks from the game and I'd very much like a perkless mode.
You can believe what you want. I have 1000s of matches in killer. It's currently my preferred role. But pick one though. Do I not play killer, or were they not at my skill level? They were aggressive and I was aggressive back, far more than usual, and that made me win more than I do in 1v4 where survivors sit on gens until they can prerun me with Sprint Burst.

I disagree on a few points
"It got killers to swap up who they played"
This is bad. Can you imagine an inverse event where all insta downs turned into single health state detractors just for the fun of the event? Billy/buba/certain perk users just get to "lose" just cause. How is this a pro or a good benefit unless you hate typical meta picks and loved seeing more bubba/billy/plague vs ghouls.
"It gave survivors a secondary objective"
That was obnoxiously broken, sure. We can play this same game on the inverse side. What if we made it so if you hook a survivor that is not the last survvior that has been hooked the gen with the most progress regresses to 0%. sounds like we just fixed tunneling ya, or is it a blatantly broken effect? Much like the banquets effects.I mean yeah, I'd rather see those killers over endless Ghouls or Jasons. A little lot of people seem to feel the same. That's not a far comparsion in any way though. This is a mode where some killers were stronger and others were weaker. Your instadown example just randomly has a group of killers getting weaker without the counter of some getting stronger.
Broken but interactive, and potentially game throwing if overly focused on or used poorly. I won the vast majority of my killer matches. The ones I lost were ones where people just sat on gens and maybe jumped into a portal if they saw me coming. Do you think survivors want a extra task that's boring and useless? Do you think they want to cleanse more hex totems? This gave them the option of using something potentially powerful (if used right) or just sitting on gens.

I don't want aim assist on controller.
I do want crosshairs though, and it should be customizable in shape, color, and positioning so it could be adapted per killer and for flashlights, which aren't centered.
