Slugging is better for survivors

You have more time for your team to save you. You dont activate the killers strongest perk. You cant get tunneled. You can move to a better spot to be saved. Your saved faster if fully recovered. You dont give the killer a sound notification. You dont gain hook states. The only down side is you dont get to active your hooked perks but the same can be said about anti slugging perks if your hooked.

  • ehh, sometimes its worth, sometimes not. It is very situational. There is no real 1 answer for this. If there are 4 survivors, 2 are hooked and 1 is down - its better to slug than to not b/c travelling the downed person to a hook usually allows survivors to unhook the hooked fellers.

  • Getting genrushed is better for Killer. You will have to deal with less Pallets (for those who still think that Pallet Density is a problem), since you wont have so many chases. You also see less Survivors teabagging.

And since you will get less Hooks, you will have to deal with less of those evil Perks which activate after being unhooked.

Genrushing is the survivor equivalent of tunneling. Slugging is the killer equivalent of flash light saving its not optional and can actually back fire against competent players. And pallet density is a problem for the lower half of the roaster sense it wasnt a quality of life change but a buff to survivors and a nerf to killers.

  • You have no argument, you are just doing mental gymnastics to justify how insanely strong and easy slugging is. And the Devs know this, they just did not have the spine to do actual meaningful changes to the game.

And now we are here where Killers claim that slugging is actually good or that Survivors should even be happy that they get slugged by the Killer.

Funny while one guy stays silent all the times against arguments that arent so clear ragebait and yet here goes full in it.

I thought you have better judgement on these topics.

  • 1: Because its not primarily about balance, its about making the most enjoyable game (this is something both sides talk about). Slugging is boring (it doesn't have the variability, tension, or uncertainty of hooks) and it requires relatively little skill expression from the killer.

2: Circular nature. A slugged survivor has no basekit protection, so you face the possibility of getting picked up/downed again and again (why BVHR added the abandon option instead of actually addressing it I don't know). Even tunneled as a survivor when you get unhooked you are back to playing a game.

3: Slug for the 4k complaints get lumped in with the larger complaints about slugging as if they are the same.

You dont activate the killers strongest perk.

A killer who knows they are going to slug doesn't bring those perks.

You can move to a better spot to be saved.

    Ah, the joy of crawling.

Your saved faster if fully recovered.

That's a big if. The alternative is that you are staying a substantial amount of time out of the match (on balance sides this also means that if another survivor is downed while the other survivors wait for you to manually recover, the survivor side can quickly collapse).

    You dont gain hook states.

That's like saying an advantage to hooking is you don't lose bleedout timer or an advantage to survivors gen rushing is the killer won't get pallet stunned as much.

The only down side is you dont get to active your hooked perks but the same can be said about anti slugging perks if your hooked.

The 'anti-slug' perks are basically all about not being slugged more. The hook perks give a variety of features that make the game more interesting.

Actually, the OP presented their points about why they think slugging is less bad for survivors than being hooked. So they do have an argument - agree with it or not. Rather than refute the points, you made a sarcastic response that didn’t even make logical sense because slugging survivors does not progress the game for the killer while completing gens quickly (your alleged equivalent scenario) does progress the game for the survivors.

  • I’ve said this many times before, but I really don’t understand the complaints about slugging. The only time I complain about slugging is when my teammates refuse to pick me or other slugged teammates, up which usually results in a loss because inevitably someone else will be slugged or hooked during that time and then it’s game over. That’s 100% a survivor teammate problem and 0% a killer problem. I find it very odd that people complain about being slugged and left on the ground for a minute or two but don’t complain about being hooked for the same amount of time. Can someone tell me what the difference is there? In either case, you’re not able to do anything. The only difference is that when you’re hooked, you’re closer to being eliminated, which is not true when you’re slugged.

Making up random arguments and mental gymnastics is not really "presenting their points". Or at least it should not count as such. As I said before, those are all mental gymnastics to justify why slugging is still so strong and free.

And honestly, if people start doing this, there is no way that I actually put effort into a response. No amount of arguments can counter mental gymnastics.

  • This is the sort of thing you think when you don't regularly play against high hour killers running slug builds intending to slug the whole team. It is not manageable against a Blight when you have no anti-slug perks, especially with no coordination, and the killers doing it know that and exploit it.

What I don’t understand is how slugging is somehow stronger than hooking. In either case, the survivor team needs to somehow coordinate who is going for the pickup or unhook. And of course that is much easier when survivors are coordinating on comms. If a whole team is getting found and downed so quickly that nobody has time to go pick up a slugged teammate, how would it be any different than if those survivors were hooked instead of slugged? They would have lost badly in either case. It’s because the survivors were either really bad or the killer was really good. It’s not because slugging is a stronger tactic.

Because hooking involves the killer taking chunks of time to hook rather than pressure the survivors. It results in telling everyone "save your people now, my hands are full", so there's less chances of having as many ppl out of action at any given time. The UI tells everyone when the killer cant chase them.

Have you played against people like this? The killer gets momentum without hooking. They down someone, usually with very specific group of mobility killers, and Infectious Fright allows them to zoom to the next one, while Coulrophobia under stress makes pick ups exremely difficult. Down, Infectious scream, repeat. The team either can't get out of Infectious range fast enough (if it's even possible on the map), or they keep spending time picking up and being downed over and over instead of doing gens. Hook states don't matter once all four are downed. I've had matches end in a couple minutes. It works because people don't go in expecting it, and have no basekit tools to counter it.

Slugging at strategic or convenient moments that appear over the course of a regualr match isn't the issue. It's players that load in intending to exploit a particular system with certain perks and certain killers. It's extremely effective.

Yes, I have, and it’s extremely rare. People always like to say that 4-man SWF bully squads are not a problem because they are extremely rare and I agree with that to some extent. But in my experience, slug for 4K killers who are actually successful at winning this way consistently are just as rare, if not more so.

For the people who still think this is a big problem - go play 10 matches as killer and try to win by slugging only and let us know how it goes. I’ve never had much success winning with this playstyle.

I couldn't even tell you if bully squads still exist. People like to call a lot of things bullying but a true bully squad that smurfs to bully would be a baby level problem. I havent seen anyone I'd describe that way in years because I'm no longer bully-able, nor would any player that has time in the game be. The 4man Infectious slugging I see pretty frequently, at least a few times a month. I had a Billy do it last time i played a long survivor session.

Yeah no I'm not gonna do something I hate.

Now slugging and good and bad survivors are nigjt and day. My winrate is 70% and the main reason is altruism the survivors want to pick up their team as soon as possible instead of using the time to work on gens. Good teams use the team and I cant keep 2 people down with out having gens pop.
