Survivor aura reading perks are highly situational. To spend a perk on something that is so situational is risky. Killer perks are for seek and destroy and care trigged by either the killer's actions, or actions you are guaranteed to see in a match, such as gens being done or healing. Killer perks are much more useful and are guaranteed to trigger in each match, aiding the killer in seeking out survivors. Survivor perks, not so much. Alert is probably the best of them. Pretty sure the killer will kick a gen or break a pallet in a match. The rest, very situational.

Biggest reason for drops in numbers is boredom. Survivor is boring af to play. Especially against try hard sweaty campers/tunnelers. I stopped playing survivor a couple months ago. Killer is much more fun. unfortuantely, less and less play survivor. This makes killer wait times too long. Therefore, less want to play at all.
This game needs new blood. As long as the low-level ranks (16-20) are so filled with camping/tunneling killers that love to face camp and taunt, it will not get new blood. I've had 3 friends try the game in the past couple weeks and they all said it was for the birds. They did not want to try and learn a game with so much toxicity, and that allowed players to exploit it in that manner.
Blame the devs for not seeing their own weakness in this design.
-
That would be nice, but I fear it would make the Trapper OP in a sense. The Hag can only teleport, she is not guaranteed a hit. The trapper injuries his prey with his traps, and can put them in dying state. I think just being able to grab them out of a locker, or carry more of them would be a huge boost to his ability to apply pressure.
-
I concur. It is a struggle to play killer with colorblindness. I don't see blood trails unless I'm indoors. Scratch marks are a real pain. The auras are a joke. I often have to stop and really look in order to see where the gens are. Aura reading perks are all but useless for me too.
That said, I still play it and can 3-4k most times. It is just a headache. I have to play like a T-Rex. Look for movement, and then anticipate where they go.
-
That would be a very powerful boost. Survivors would travel in amoebas around the map. Would be nice for Bubba though. lol

The biggest flaw in the argument of camping is that there should have never been an argument about it in the first place. It is a design flaw that should have been identified as an avenue that could discourage/lose newer players, thus causing the game to grwo stagnant. It is bad for business. To some extent, so is pallet looping. I think pallet looping is much better than it was, with the massive reduction in pallets and slow vaults, it is an improvement, but there is still an issue.
Stop blaming those who hate camping or pallet looping. Blame the developers for lacking the vision to see that these two play styles hurt their product and act as a barrier for new players. This game needs an influx of fresh blood, pardon the pun, and it will not get it with these toxic styles blocking the way.
New game modes will help. Finding some that limit the toxic opportunities. Perhaps even a "capture the survivor" death match. Multiple killers in a haunted house with x amount of survivors. No gens, no escapes. The survivors will die multiple times during a 10 minute match. The killer with the most kills wins. The survivors earn bonus bp for escaping, hiding, evading, completing rituals, and not dying at the hands of the same killer twice in a row. Killers are penalized for killing the same survivor three times in a row. (EDIT: This is to limit potential cheating of killers and survivors working together. By penalized, they don't get a body count for it, no loss of points/bp.) When survivors die, they respawn in an area furthest away from the killers. It is a bp scramble for survivors, and a body count scramble for the killers. (Though, I can see killers turning on each other fast in post game chat.)
Limit the pallets, add in beds to hide under, or closets to hide in, etc.
Anyways..I digress. Camping is a horrible mechanic for game growth. So is infinite looping. Blame the developers for opening up pandora's box and inviting in the lowest common denominator of the player base.

I used to main Pig. I currently main Traper, but bought LF for Chili (tired of waiting for it on the shrine...BHVR won). I would have to agree with the OP's assessment overall. LF is better than Pig. I only goof around with him, doing "chili" matches where I hook everyone once, then just down them over and over until they escape. I find it hard to NOT down all four. LF is much easier to 4k with than Pig. Not that Pig was hard to begin with, but LF is much better.
Caveat, I don't camp either.

Ok, than maybe you are not that good as you think of yourself.
But anyway "lmfao" is not make you sound any more mature. This guy is my favorite of all the drama queens on this forum. Even the best survivors in the game get hooked. Get over yoursel righteousness. You have killer mains telling you that camping sucks for the person being camped. Give them some extra bp for the suckage that is camping, and you soothe a lot of that play style. Killers already get rewarded for loopers, they get chase points, pallet points, and potentially hits. Survivors get nothing if they get face camped on the first hook. Not a failure, an inevitability. Everyone gets hooked.

I've only camped the most toxic of players, and have no issues with BT.That said, want to fix the problem for the poor survivor being camped by the drooling 15 year old killer? Simple, give them extra BP for each action taken by another survivor while they are on the hook and inside the killer's terror radius. If they are downed within 10 seconds of being unhooked, give them a bp boost of 1k "sacrificial lamb". Problem solved!
Why should survivor get any rewards for failure?
Where is the bloodpoint bonus for killer that fail?doublestandards
Seriously dude, if you think getting downed first and face camped is failure then you are nuts. Not everyone loops forever, and when they do, killers cry about it and call it toxic. Not everyone runs UE and stealths out. Getting downed in a match is all but a guarantee. By your measure, the hatch should always appear beneath the feet of the last survivor. Why should we get rewarded for failure to find him quickly?
As for killer bp, they get a ton no matter what. I can let the whole group run away, hook them all once, and break pallets/gens and still avoid a depip while making 40k plus. Not exactly equal field in the bp department.
Seriously......absolutely insane people that just want ot punish others. IT'S A GAME!!!

LF is fine. You try to play him like Hillbilly, you get owned. I use LF to farm chili and de-pip simply because I can take control of a match if the survivors are toxic.
Hillbilly, he breaks all the rules of PvP. Rediculously fast movement and one-hit down. Definitely OP.

The other more sinister side of this is pre-game taunting that would likely occur. I get what you are trying to accomplish but the real problem is the fact the chat exists at all. It is the main way players try to hurt each other either to gloat or complain about their loss. That is why I said to give the option to close it, just like the killer can on end game chat. Or, if you don't want to play with that kind of player, leave the match before it starts. Either way, it improves the quality of gameplay for people, or has no affect at all.

Farming already occurs on a regular basis. I see it all the timeYour idea would make it way more common. I see it rarely as a survivor and it certainly occurs rarely when I am playing the killer.
Lets be honest, if people want to farm to have fun, they will. Eventually, they will get bored. Farming willingly is not against the rules. It is just as "legit" as camping. If that is how people choose to have fun, then so be it. You enter a lobby with a killer you know always tries to farm, you leave. EDIT: That is what makes pregame chat helpful.

I'd be open to name changes. I felt they would work better as perks, but eh. Either way, I think it would be a fun wrinkle on both sides. Both sides would scream about how OP the other side's perk is though. lol

Survivor - Heavy Armor - Survivor is immune to Exposed, or other insta-down effects, but suffers exhaustion and is unable to perform fast vaults due to the encumbrance of the armor. Furthermore, any survivor who rescues the wearer from a hook suffers exhaustion for 20 seconds.
"This thing could withstand a chainsaw! Can someone help me up?"
Killer - Jury Rig - Killer is able to trap one generator or door at a time. Any generator trapped by the killer doubles the chance of very difficult skill checks and suffers a 5% penalty for failure. If an escape door is trapped, the door's progress is slowed by 15% - Stackable. (Keep in mind, only one thing can be trapped at a time.)

This would be a quick 4-8k for the killer in every match. Every survivor would DC. I'd probably do it in loading screen. lol I do give this a 9/10 in the troll rating though. funny

Survivor call anything camping that is not a free, completely riskless. safe unhook.
If you are capable of initiating a new chase after the unhook, before or immediately after the rescued got healed up.
If you do not take badly executed bait to lure you from the hook = camper.
If you follow them back to the hook, when they sprint towards it in the plain open = camper.
If you dare to kick a gen in the nearby area or take time to put up a trap. or worse you go fetch one and come back to place it, or take your time to refill hatches = camper.Though some survivors definitely act this way, by and far most don't. I've had some idiots claim I was camping because the person who just body blocked was hiding nearby and I was hunting them down. I ignore that stupidity. I personally do not camp because I'd rather pressure the gens and keep the survivors off of them. My goal is to have another hook/chase before the current one is off. That is three survivors not doing gens.
I find the blanket killer/survivor statements are what is wrong in these forums. Not all killers are low-skilled camping turs who need NOED to get a kill or two. Not all survivors are DS crutch-wielding toxic cry babies who want a free escape. I find most of that behavior, on both sides, is in the red and purple ranks.

This needs to be fixed first. If a high ranking survivor wants to SWF with a low ranking one, they should face killers based on the highest level, not the average. I rarely dodge a lobby unless one of the names on my list of "no plays" shows up. Ones that were seriously immature after game, or tried to use exploits in game. Hook-swarming SWFs that cried about camping after game (like you are going to leave the hook when 3 people are rushing at it! I down them all and ended it. But lots of immature crying afterwards...YOU JUST MADE THE LIST!).
How does this "blacklist" work for you? I mean, they literally can change their name whenever they want to
If you click on their profile and then hover over their name, you can click the down arrow to see all their previous names. You have 60 seconds to review it all. I see a name I know is a complete toxic azzhat, or one I've had to report for cheating (speed hacks, potential lag switching, etc) then I leave lobby.
EDIT: I keep a fun list too. Killers that were just really good, survivors that juked the hell out of me, but were not toxic in end game chat. People that were generally cool in end game. I see them in my lobby, I know I'll have a challenging/fun game. I sometimes even go out of my way to toy with them, or avoid toxic gameplay just because it is fun. The way the game was meant to be.

Trapper gets to carry more than one trap as a base ability. That would be nice. That poor guy has to spend half his time looking for, and setting traps. I'm shocked that a simple bag is actually an addon. Can't the guy afford a burlap sack?!

P3 Claudette? Dodge
It's funny because they make fun of survivors and their made up rules, WHICH IS PERFECTLY FINE AND I UNDERSTAND IT, but every time they dodge for stuff like that they are playing with their own made up rules as well.Because it is unbalanced.
Why should I start a rigged game?
Survivor are already to strong and multiple toolboxes make gen rush just worth.
The new graphics will buff ninja-claudie, so why should I accept that?
The survivor made up rules are about balanced things they don't like.I'm failing to see a reason to dodge these group make-ups. The game is not stacked against the killer. Most killers are just bad at anticipating survivors because they have not played enough survivor to do so. Knowing where that P3 Claudette with DS and a flashlight is likely to go is key to downing her, wasting her DS, and hooking her. If you can't anticipate, you should try playing survivor more.
By Wolfe's explanation here, DC'ing vs a camping LF is legit. Why should the survivor put up with a game mechanic (LF face camping) that rigs the game against them. And don't say it is their fault for getting caught. The game is rigged in favor of getting caught. Thus there are one hit drops, killers who move faster than survivors, less pallets, less window loops, etc, etc. I can't tell you the last time I saw a match where nobody got hooked, unless I was just playing around with a group and downed them all, then let them go. I love a good slug race for the exit. Loser dies.

Fixed.
Total falacy of logic. Enduring is something I love running and I am not doing it for DS. Enduring is great for stuns in general. You are talking about having survivors run 4 perks to specifically counter gameplay, yet you make a weak comparison with Enduring? lol
DS should be limited to one person per match. That is how you fix it. That, or make it so anyone with DS merely slows the killer's movement by 20% when being carried. Means you hit a hamstring or something. Fixed.
-
DS is a wasted perk as a survivor. I never run it. As a killer, which I play 70% of the time, DS does not bother me that much. Maybe if all 4 have it and are good at hitting it, sure, but 1-2 having it is a joke. I like the wasted perk slot.
-
Rules of civility are only for civil societies. DBD is far from a civil society. Has little to do with pvp/vs and more to do with the type of people attracted to BHVR's mess of a game. Obviously it has potential, but way too many holes to allow griefing play styles.
-
Wow. This change merely slows down tunneling. BT is not that powerful.
-
3/10 on the Bait meter.

I've never had a hatch stand off as either a killer nor a survivor. I chase them down, or they get out. Not wasting my time. Don't feel entitled to that last kill. If the killer is camping the hatch, I go work a gen. If he comes off the hatch, I will make a play for it. I either die or get the hatch, or open a gate.
Only stubborn idiots stand off like that.

Welcome to this generation of gamers. In the past, gamers appreciated each other. By and large the communities were helpful. This crop are about as useful as a football bat. Everyone thinks they are pro gamers. lol
-
I've recently switched to a trapper main. He is so much more fun than any other killer. He is very challenging, and strategic compared to others as well. Perhaps the Hag is a bit similar, but her ability to apply map pressure is much better due to teleporting. That said, Trapper is weak and could use buffs.
As mentioned above, I think more traps in hand would help a lot. Less of a RNG to get out of traps. Perhaps all traps automatically have a mangled effect? Maybe the Trapper gets some form of Sprint/BL when someone is in a trap. It cancels when they escape?
Having more traps in hand would help a lot with map pressure. I think a speed boost when someone is trapped, perhaps he is anxious to get to his prey, would be a huge boon as well.
-
I'm fine with any/all of those. Take the aura sight off of BBQ and it is fine. It is really a double perk right now anyways. WGLF is a joke perk. It does nothing other than BP reward. Hinders the killer not at all. No aura site, nothing. Rework DS and only allow one person to use it. Could not care less about BT.
Can't believe anyone would complain about WGLF. It is only a BP perk. CHili would be fine as only a BP perk. Unfortunately, it has aura as well. Like 2 perks in one.
-
Only one problem with a casual mode. Unless it is in KYF, you will fill it with all the tunneling, camping, and slugging killers. People that just want to play toxic for the sake of ruining someone's game. Unless those things were made bannable in that mode, and remove DS as well from that mode, you will have problems.
Make KYF a system where everone can level characters and play them only in KYF and you have a winner there. I'd never play any other mode. Just with friends. I could probably convince more friends to play. Most won't play because of how bad the community is.
-
Grab Billy and run in a large circle, like NASCAR. If you end up indoors, pick a room and do the same. When doors are open, chase them out. Down one, carry to exit and drop so they can't come back in.

Such a phenomenally bad idea. Chase being the primary decider of rank completely discredits stealth as a legitimate gameplay tactic. I know many like to say it is already discredited, and I partially agree, but that is not the point here. The idea of the game is not to run up and toy with the killer. It is supposed to be to avoid the killer. If I can go an entire map without being seen while doing 2.5 gens, saving 2 people, destroying Ruin, Hope, and 2 other totems, and healing one person without there being anyone that was chased for more than 30 seconds, why should that be less value in ranking up than being chased? Makes zero sense. Especially since stealth is a much harder form of gameplay with all the aura perks. I can run without perks. It is just a matter of knowing the map and where to not go. Try keeping stealth all game with someone loaded for anti-stealth. It is not easy.
Chase is great, but it is only one aspect of the game. Should not have more weight than all others.
-
OP is correct, though I find it funny that he is asking survivors to start gen rushing again. lol
I fear the imbalance will continue though. Many survivors learned that killer is a much better way to grind BP, and much more fun. As killer, you set the tone for the game. If you want to be a prick, you can be. If you want to just goof off, you can. All the survivors can do is either play along, or be toxic. Easy enough to ignore toxic survivors, especially if you don't care about rank.
Many started playing killer because it was needed, and by the end, it was the best way to still get extra event bp. What happens if too many stay playing killer?
-
@Blueberry said:
Well after the event changes the problem was fixed for about a day. Now the que's for me at rank 1 are even longer than they were before the changes. I'm at 40min and still waiting. After the survivors finish their vials they can't harvest plants anymore for the bonus blood points however killers can still use the event hooks for bonus blood points. This is the reason you have the killer que's long again. It should have been fixed with the other changes.
Was too late by the time the change occurred. Most survivors had already lost lots of ranks. So, any rank below 10 as killer meant long wait times. (Several of us tried to warn killers, but we were mocked and laughed at...) Hopefully, that will even out soon. My concern is that many survivor mains got hooked on playing killer due to the BP and ease of grind during the event. Ranks 13-17 were not that bad a wait time, therefore many may have figured out it is much more fun as killer, and much easier to grind bp. That would be bad for wait times.

What an absolute joke. Everyone thought it was an event issue when it clearly wasn't. I'm sitting at 30+ minutes now......EDIT: TWO SURVIVORS JUST JOINED MY LOBBY
There's a very high chance it is caused by the event though. The best strategy to get the vials as survivor was to fill a vial and then suicide to get into the next game faster. This way it's very likely you depip which causes a massive lack of survivors at high ranks.
This is absolutely true. If the killer was not a farmer, the survivor just sacrificed on hook and moved on to the next game. Therefore, lots of survivors at 10-15, few at 1-5. Many of us called this out in the first day or so, but a lot of killers, especially mains, just thought they were so good that they were suddenly getting 4k's every game. Me, I backed off, farmed a bit, got my vials, let them run off and escape. Even worked to de-pip some. Never suffered the wait times everyone complained about. My worst were around 10 minutes at rank 10, but fell to 5 minutes or so at rank 14.
-
If KYF was limited in perks and made you build your characters up like normal online play, while awarding BP to do just that...I would NEVER play in this toxic a$$ community. I would play with friends and leave the rest of this community to cry a river.
KYF
Base level/perks
Earn BP to build them up
Can't carry over to online play60% of the online community vanishes to play this game with friends and screw the toxic aspect of the game.
Wishful thinking.
-
Seriously, I tend to side more with survivors, but this is too much. I play killer enough to know how annoying the constant blind barrage can be. That is what is game breaking. Since when is a flashlight so powerful as to blind a killer 10 times in 5 minutes. Sorry, but that is nuts. I would not cry if they removed the feature all together, or each blind makes the killer more resistant until they are immune after 3-4 total blinds in a match.

In short, players like Racoon are poisonous to this game. It is part of why we have such a bad community here. Anyone that disagrees with you should quit playing and uninstall. If that occurred, you would not have a game to play anymore.

-
It is a problem in event design and a hint that perhaps they need to start giving survivors more bp in a game. The reason for the suiciding is not just vials, it is also the massive bp that survivors get (which is a good thing) by draining plants.
Solution, desensitize them to that bp. Up the BP survivors get regularly and see if that works. If they continue to suicide, then return it to normal. As for the event, it is almost over. It was poorly designed from the get-go and shows that extra objectives are problematic without changes to the core design of the game. Killers 4k too easily when survivors are either suiciding, or spending the first 3-5 minutes looking for flowers.
-
Still could be a pain for rank 1-8 killers though. If survivors keep dying quick, then the opposing rank issue is still a problem.
-
No, this will be much better. Fewer people will switch to killer because they won't need to.

I pretty much stopped as well. Just not worth the wait times. I'm half way there as killer. Just not fun, and none of the costumes are for killers I play, other than Trapper.
