Well i would say in general (not your case specifically) it is the same "greed" killer get called out for when they try to secure even one kill after the gates are powered even if it means camping and/or tunneling.

Killer get called out for that all the time as tryhards or sweating. So i am not surprised that healthy survivor get called the same when they don't want to leave anyone behind even when the other 3 could escape already.

Survivors do it out of altruism. Killers don't really have anyone to be altruistic for now do they?

Securing a kill and trying to save a teammate from death are very different examples. I wasn't trying to secure a save for myself, but instead for the Meg. If the killer wants to coat it as "greeding a save" then that person is in fact, very twisted indeed.

  • @Kolozzoni said:

This is what happens when killers get snobby with their wins. They need to rub the win in the survivors' faces and lecture them about their wrongdoings. The loser mentality is strong with this one.

I literally said "lol gg" since I knew Meg kind of screwed up on her part, but I kept it civil and sensible so that she didn't feel personally attacked.

And then came the killer, lecturing us about us wanting to BM and telling us to just leave. Then proceeding to tell me that I was trying to greed a save and that BW is OP using his own words.

I mean, I don't want to point fingers, but we didn't call out the killer for using BW, we normally criticized each other. Looks like killers need to stick their noses into other people's businesses sometimes lol.

Its not BM but that's the epitome of a greedy play so I don't understand why you're surprised at that. If you're both at the gates unharmed and Meg isn't in your party to communicate AND she's across the map then you're being greedy by going to attempt the save when there's barely time left. In reality, a lot of people attempt to save regardless of the scenario, but by technicality the optimal play is to just leave and let him 1k. It has nothing to do with whether or not you're a good teammate, its literally just a greedy play that led to an unnecessary death

What constitutes a "greedy" play? There wasn't even a hint of greed in my body when I went for Meg.

If altruism is considered greedy then I have nothing to say anymore.

It's probably a symptom of the killer having poor strength in end-game even with end game perks.

Being preachy when winning at end game is the symptom...? Jokes aside.

I think we know our own shortcomings without having the killer be all preachy about it. I think the killer was on his high horse for a minute there and assumed I was there to BM and wanted to greed a save. lol

  • This is the most dumbest post I've seen in days.

Dude, just relax. Just because the Trickster is Korean, it doesn't mean whatever he gets as a skin reflects BHVR's views on Koreans in general.

Also, if Mattheu hates Koreans, Jake and Yun-Jin should also be treated badly as well... which they don't, so there goes your logic out the window.

  • @Akumakaji said:

So are we allowed to talk about why @TheGannMan was suspended? I somehow missed the occasion...

Nope. I believe questioning a mod's decision to ban someone is against the forum rules or smth.

  • He's literally one of the most rudimentary designs of all the killers combined. The best the devs could do is improve the polygon count, but even that wouldn't change much drastically.

That said, it's weird that they haven't done smth this simple sooner. Bill got a simple beard model + texture update without even getting a patch note, so why can't the Shape receive smth similar?

  • LMFAO, it's more rare for me to even come across a 4 man SWF in the first place, let alone an entire squad of COH wielding medkit addicts?

Jokes aside, I think you're taking this way over your head. It was a pretty boring/frustrating game, I get that. Playing solo survivor feels pretty similar in almost every damn match. Just try to move past it.

  • Lol, salty survivors. When will they learn that they lose games from time to time? SMH

  • I wouldn't ask on a public forum on how to change your servers using a VPN... It's pretty frowned upon here.

Even though I do know of a VPN that does this very specific thing, I wouldn't recommend it since it brings higher ping & game experience along with it.

Just stick with your own servers if possible, going to someone else's turf may bring more harm than good.

  • He uses contact lenses for shiny bright eyes (it's lore official, yes).

  • @Tsulan said:

The issue is, that most people draw the conclusion that killers are OP and therefore need nerfs. Without realizing, that the way to get those high kill rates was to play in a extremely unfun way.

Killers don´t complain that they can´t get kills. Killers complain that they don´t have fun while doing so. Because they have to play sweaty and scummy.

Sweaty survivors are going to bring sweaty killers, vice versa... It's as simple as that.

If people stopped playing so damn seriously, then this wouldn't even be an issue. Lower your standards of having 'fun' (though the word lost its meaning LONG ago) and start playing the game casually like how its intended to.

  • Not all second chance perks are braindead. Some are actually quite balanced now, i.e. Decisive Strike.

The only problems I have is with Dead Hard and NOED, two perks that need serious re-balancing to make it less dominant and more vulnerable to counter play.

The only way, I repeat, ONLY way to counter the two perks is to:

    • Dead Hard - Bait it out.
    • NOED - Do Bones.

and both solutions are total ass regardless of whichever side you're on.

  • Lol, what? She's not rare, at least not on my server. I see as many Spirits as I see Wraiths, Blights and Pyramid Heads.

The only reason why we saw a decrease in her overall play count isn't because of the nerf itself, but more so has to do with being fun. Pre-nerf, her strength overshadowed her rather lackluster power and now that things are pretty much balanced (she's still pretty good still), people don't find her powers fun anymore I guess.

If you don't believe what I'm saying, I can verify that people play a whole lot of Leatherface even though he's weaker than Spirit atm. So there's that.

  • The problem lies where racism doesn't hide its ugly rear end anymore in 2022.

Just saw a post regarding a disgusting racist who only went for the African descent characters like Claudette, Adam and Elodie (Tapp is too rare so I guess he/she couldn't find any) and it didn't require Smartface to be equipped.

The point is, regardless of what cosmetics are added/removed, racists are going to be racists.

Claudette doesn't represent all African Canadians, Jake doesn't represent all Koreans, so instead of actually focusing on the discrimination itself, BHVR decided to censor a harmless feature in the game just because it happens to have a skin tone that's considered "sensitive". Ridiculous.

Yes. Which I'd phrase as 'powerful, but has counterplay'. That's fair and fun.

    Viable. Not overpowered.

Well then, I'd like to ask you: YOUR list of killers who you find "viable" with simple reasons why.

I hope it's not the usual suspects though.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2725436#Comment_2725436

    ...Viability comes in with balance.

For something to be balanced, it needs to be viable. Reasonably powerful, but not broken.

That's not what "balanced" means and you know that.

Being balanced has nothing to do with being powerful. It means effective, but also equally vulnerable.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2725421#Comment_2725421

    No, not at all.

You just argued that killers who aren't viable are still 'fair'. I'm a little concerned about what your ideal vision of the game is, but I doubt it's something that most killer players would enjoy. Balanced/fair would mean that all killers are viable, certainly?

Not a single killer that I can remember has said that they want to auto-win every game. They just want stuff that is completely unbalanced fixed, and for stuff that isn't unbalanced (see: Wraith, Cenobite, Slinger) to stop being nerfed.

And no - you may not have, but as you can see in this thread - others do. And this is why they don't bother.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2725429#Comment_2725429

    No, you didn't say that.

Your implication was that not being viable is still fair. To me, that's simply untrue.

Viable may not always be fair, but being non-viable is always unfair.

What killers "enjoy" has nothing to do with smth that's "fair".

If people want a game where playing killers or survivors feels like an equally matched battle, then that has more to do with proper balance regardless of what's "fun" or "enjoyable" for which side.

  • @Zozzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2725409#Comment_2725409

Strip everyone down to nothing and survivors still have the edge over most of the killer cast. There are deep rooted issues with the core of this game that the developers need to address.

They would be fair in a well balanced game. The problem is that this is not a well balanced game and the state of survivor is not fair to the killer.

So where does the viable part come in?

If there are core issues that needs to be dealt in DBD, what does viability have to do with anything regarding balance? You're absolutely right on the part that there are issues that the devs need to take care of, but leave anything "viable" out of the equation.

  • @Tiufal said:

You will only get the same responses as in those threads. This is unfun, this is bad, this is unbalanced, even though most of it is just solved by "git gud".

    Absolutely not.

Some things in DBD indeed is not balanced. Case in point, Dead Hard.

    @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2725409#Comment_2725409

What sort of argument even is this?

If a killer isn't viable, then how on earth is that 'fair'?

Dead Hard is prima facie unfair. It was the most overrepresented survivor perk by a mile, and then it got a hefty 'fix' (see: buff). It eats killer powers and constantly feeds the killer false information, while also being a defacto third health state.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2725415#Comment_2725415

Well done for making my exact point for me.

This is why killers don't bother these days.

Becuz, being viable doesn't mean it's inherently "fair".

Dead Hard is a great example where it's viable AF, but it's totally unfair.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2725400#Comment_2725400

Would they have had a blast? I know I wouldn't. Stomping isn't all that much more fun than getting stomped. I'm sure they are thinking something along the lines of 'SBMM, what are you?'.

When one side of your game is making the majority of 'this isn't fun' threads on your forums, that probably indicates that something is off about your game.

Beyond this, when you type out a huge thread of detailed feedback and get told 'cry moar', then you aren't going to bother putting the effort in next time.

So... you state that stomping/getting stomped doesn't bring out the fun in you when playing DBD... Doesn't that reinforce my idea then?

That having an imbalanced game (where one side stomps the other) is wrong and that balance/fairness is the key to DBD's success? Leave the "fun" out? If we are indeed on the same page then I don't understand your comments regarding this issue at hand.

FYI: I never told a single killer to "cry more". I said bring good evidence and at least some logic to discuss the topic.

  • @Zozzy said:

Saw this ages ago and mentally switched off when he started going on about oni and plague being fair and well designed killers. They may be the ideal killer design, but they are far from viable at decent ranks in the current state of the game.

So to put it mildly, you agree that the two killers are fairly designed, but just because that they're not viable you mentally switched off?

What I'm getting is that you believe viability worths more than fairness then, huh.

That's ironic, cuz I'm constantly seeing posts regarding how survivors are always running the most viable perk, Dead Hard and yet the killers are always complaining about how it's unfair.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/302676/dear-killer-mains-please-write-something-constructive-instead-of-constantly-crying

Sometimes the 'feel' of a game is just as important as the numbers.

Killers can do well sometimes, but it often requires a playstyle that isn't fun for anyone. Camping, slugging etc.

And there have been endless threads of constructive feedback and suggestions from killer players - which are inevitably met with responses exactly like this. 'Stop whining', 'OMG another crying killer thread', 'CoH is fine l2p', 'nobody is forcing you to play x killer' etc.

You aren't helping. Complaining about complaining is worse than simple complaining, because it provides no feedback about the game itself - it's just poking at people who are frustrated.

    You call it an "advice".

I've played plenty of matches as a solo survivor where the killer literally stomped my entire team within the first two gens. I've also had matches where the killer could barely get one hook the entire match.

The prior player would've had a blast while the latter would've come to the forums, log in and create another "Killers are so unfun now" post.

What I'm saying is that, having mood swings by feeling annoyed and venting here at the forums is worthless effort. At least put the time and effort to speak out on the problems that killers are generally facing instead of boo hooing 24/7.

I'm glad that killers made constructive posts before, but the most recent ones... holy moly...

  • @Starrseed said:

But isn't the main point that it's unfun cause it's not balanced or fair

What? How does that make sense?

"Fun" is COMPLETELY subjective. Some people can call Cenobite unfun, but he's completely balanced.

You don't need to nerf/buff something from a subjective POV. You need to look at it objectively.

  • @WhoisJoe said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2721226#Comment_2721226

but from my pov people dont cleanse dull totems for no reason ( unless they got a perk) so it would be helpful to hexes that require tokens or ones that are not obvious like ruin. I would agree about the high risk high reward but survivors have boons that can be relit.

I wouldn't say that boons and hexes are on the same power level... Boons are limited to a confined space while hexes are global, so on that note I can understand why boons are allowed to be relit. But I think the range on Boons should be reduced. 24 meters is just too much, especially if there's more than one boon. Maybe 18 would be fine.

Hexes should remain the same (except for their placements. Those need buffs). With other hexes like Undying, you have backup totems all the time.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2721265#Comment_2721265

Yes, I'd be curious about that too.

What I was saying is that the impression I got from that loadout was that this was a specialized bully/stall comp.

Well, I understand that and I totally agree.

But looking at this picture alone, the killer/OP could've stomped on all of them and just cut out the part so that it looks as if he/she was bullied. As far as I'm concerned, this hold no value nor does it provide any evidence that this particular match was victorious for the survivors.

I can't feel sympathy for someone who keeps the most important parts undisclosed and yet states that killers are getting the shaft. Sorry.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2721257#Comment_2721257

I'm seeing a lot of sabo recently. A few big names did videos where they demonstrated certain spots on some maps (Eyrie tends to be the most common, but you can do it on Midwich, Badham, Haddonfield and Pantry with certain hook spawns) where a single sabo can turn an entire area into a completely unhookable deadzone permanently.

It's crazy broken when abused and when paired with other perks (Breakout, Exponential etc) can be used to basically take a match hostage and meme on the killer until they go AFK or DC. Breakout makes me think this is the likely idea.

I'm not here to ask for a perk's relevancy. I asked for clarification on how a single screenshot that provides no context whatsoever can bring any meaningful conversation to the table.

    I repeat:

and the worst part is, the OP deliberately cut out the most crucial part which could've provided some context on whether they escaped or not.

I don't get what this screenshot is supposed to point out.

  • @SvarturSteinn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2721233#Comment_2721233

Oh the ranks aren't the issue here, it's the fact MMR put a killer with literally a cobbled together half-baked build out of necessity against survivors that literally had them beat in hours by magnitudes.

But that's my point. Ranks aren't a good source of medium since they reset every 13th of the month. Checking their played hours would be better since that accumulates regardless of any scheduled resets.

    @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2721233#Comment_2721233

They don't, but they do demonstrate a certain familiarity with the game, especially a whole team of Iri 1.

Looking at it in context, with the perks, this was the sort of ridiculous matchup you'd see under ranks.

I mean, unless this was a 4 man SWF, I understand some of their perk choices (like picking borrowed time), but seeing Sabo is quite rare and same goes for breakout. I hate Dead Hard so I don't blame the killer for that, but they literally had no good items or any effective offerings.

and the worst part is, the OP deliberately cut out the most crucial part which could've provided some context on whether they escaped or not.

I don't get what this screenshot is supposed to point out.

  • Ranks don't really matter any more... you know that right?

I've seen some pretty headless rank 1 survivors running around and real pro silver 3s carrying the game.

Just because a red emblem with a stick in the middle is there doesn't mean that they're good. Don't be intimidated.

  • Hex is not meant to be hidden. It's a high risk high reward mechanic. They're powerful but can be taken out of the game once found.

Though totem placement is smth I totally agree in changing/buffing for killers, simply making them look like dull totems will bring more harm than good.

Imagine it, all 4 survivors each cleansing dull totems they come across just to make sure one of them is a hidden hex. That would reduce the overall totems effectiveness i.e. Undying and also ruin the chances of NOED going off at end game.

Be careful what you wish for.

  • Just like "toxic", those two words lost its true meaning in now 2022.

Tunneling and camping certainly exist, but people need to realize that not everything is tunneling/camping and it's impossible to have none at all.

We need to learn to differentiate between actual toxic behavior without consorting to petty hissyfits that muddle the devs' balancing decisions.

  • Same goes for survivors.

Many games have I encountered killers who simply get tunnel visioned to one survivor and do nothing else but chase him/her around the entire match.

No points in altruism or boldness which are huge parts of us pipping.

Safe to say, Entity doesn't pick sides.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2718224#Comment_2718224

Eh. I've been up against some genuinely great players outside of solos.

What is annoying is how often I feel like I lost a game not because I made any serious mistakes, but because I chose the wrong killer/perks for the map I was sent to. Haddonfield on Billy versus Haddonfield on Nurse is almost like a different game.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2718223#Comment_2718223

I have no idea what you are trying to say here.

Certainly the onus is on the people being nasty to stop being nasty, not the people being annoyed by them?

There isn't much you can do versus a coordinated squad who decide to stall the game out endlessly.

    And so have I.

But that doesn't mean that the majority of the Solo Q players play like headless chickens and yet, they make up 80% of the playerbase.

I can name exceptions any time, but that doesn't change the general perception and opinions of killers and survivors in the current state. SWF beats killers and killers destroy solo q survivors. Simple as that, but do you see me crying a river?

  • Why's SWF being the center of discussion here? Have you ever played solo Q?

SWF>>Killers>>>>>Solo Q is the general consensus and yet you complain about being matched up against what, 4~5% of the entire survivor playerbase?

You can't seriously want a "fair" asymmetrical game when there's Discord available for everyone. If you don't like playing asymmetrical games, then go play something else.

Legion has a rather ridiculous design as well. A mouth-breathing edgy teen with spindly arms and a mask? He would have gotten his face caved in by David King or Jake Park or Meg in an instant. It feels almost insulting to just run away from Frank or anyone from his gang, instead of turning around and slapping them.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2706292#Comment_2706292

How often do you see Twins and Blight in your games compared to Trickster? He wasn't designed to be scary, he was literally made to appeal to the fans of anime villains.

If you don't find Legion and Trickster scary, do you find Plague, Ghostface, Deathslinger, Pig, Freddy scary? Becuz all of them are on the same boat: normal humans but crazies.

The Trickster is a nice interpretation of a psychotic killer with a normal appearance. He doesn't even need a mask because his literal face/existence is one. Just because he/she doesn't have a scary mask doesn't mean they don't reflect true horror. Same goes for Legion.

Heck, Pyramid Head isn't scary to me (looks funny actually), but do you see me complaining about him being added and fitting in DBD?

  • No. As long as I did my best for the team and they have a higher chance of winning, it's a win for me.

Now being camped + tunneled + being held hostage in my own game feels like complete dog%&# and if I'm forced to leave earlier than anticipated, then that's a clear loss for me.

  • For Survivors:

    • Nerf DH.
    • Leave Iron Will
    • Nerf Boons

    For Killers:

    • Buff Cenobite
    • Nerf Artist
    • Nerf Blight
    • Change Trickster
  • Bait title + a picture with no context.

    Typical.

You can't prove you didn't play toxic nor can you argue that a single survivor from a total of four means that killers are being bullied.

Spin it however you want, but this just looks like a typical game to me. Nothing new.

Philippine culture or any Asian that isn't part of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean descent.

No hate toward them of course, but it does get annoying when video game developers forget that Asia isn't just 3 countries. In most video games, the "Asian representation" has always been those three cultures. Rinse and repeat.

There are TONS of other cultures in Asia and it would be greatly appreciated to see more BROWN ASIAN representation as a fellow Filipino.

"Asian" includes all of East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and Middle-east Asia. You need to make it more specific.

    But in general, I agree.

We have 5 Japanese (Spirit, Oni, Yui, Sadako, new survivor), 3 Koreans (Jake, Yun-Jin, Trickster), 1 Chinese (Feng) and 1 Lebanese (Zarina).

That's 9 East Asians and one Middle-east Asian.

I want a South Asian chapter, a Southeast Asian chapter and if possible Middle-east Asian chapter. I'm kind of sick of East Asian favoritism too.

  • Enough with FNAF already.

If the devs are going to add it in later on, they will eventually. Screaming "GIVE US FNAF! GIVE US FNAF" won't make a good case for both fans and non-fans regarding the franchise. In fact, it'll only leave a sour taste in our mouths.

And personally, FNAF is WAY below the priority list after Alien, Predator, Child's Play, Jason, Candyman and etc. Springtrap just doesn't sound like a menacing killer for DBD. Soul possessed dolls/animatronics can be achieved with Chucky after all.

  • Ah, yes. The one and only DBD community.

The only community which the players love the game so much that they want it to fail so badly.
