The guy should explain it from the begining how was it exactly.Becuz if he let the cousin playing with the pc and he was in front of it all the time he surely have fault.

It doesn't even have to a PC tbh. It could be a wide screen TV and it'll still have the same effect.

And it doesn't make any logical and scientific sense that they were not in close proximity with each other.

  • I know, for crying out loud.

It sucks having to reiterate all my talking points, but nobody is going to read an entire 9 pages worth of bickering now would they? 😂

I have never witnessed one, no.

From my understanding, the OP is not describing a "mild" seizure. To quote St. John's NZ First Responder's Group, "A full-scale epileptic seizure involves violent jerking of the limbs, facial twitching, and foaming at the mouth due to saliva being blown through clenched teeth."

    https://www.stjohn.org.nz/first-aid/first-aid-library/seizures-or-convulsions/

This is consistent with what little information the OP described. Likewise, "violent jerking of the limbs" seems like it would be fairly loud if they were seated at a desk.

I am merely saying it is more reasonable to think that OP found their cousin rather than assuming they knowingly allowed a serious harm to come to them. That's not something normal people do. To be clear, are you accusing OP of being showing psychopathic tendencies and intending to harm their cousin?

Glad we're on the same page regarding the seriousness of the seizure.

To be clear, are you accusing OP of being showing psychopathic tendencies and intending to harm their cousin?

And since it's your first time contributing to this thread here, I'm going to let you slide with that accusation.

    The answer is no.

I have said this over a dozen times now. I blame the OP and BHVR for their negligence.

BHVR KNOWS the possibilities of creating seizures and they have yet to add any warning signs (better yet a fix to the whole fiasco) despite multiple accounts describing of going through something similar.

The OP is also not off the hook since it's HIGHLY LIKELY (I'd say close to 95+%) that he knew his cousin was playing DBD since he's a family member and DBD is also one of his passionate games. However, the OP also KNEW that his cousin had epilepsy and despite knowing the prerequisites of going into a seizure, the OP didn't consult his cousin from playing a dangerous game.

And yet, he has the AUDACITY to come on to the forums and swear/blame the players and BHVR for HIS short thinking and has yet to own up to his own mistake of not being able to prevent this problem and in effect, save his cousin from going into a seizure and having a traumatic experience in the first place.

    THAT's what I'm criticizing.

I do not think your example fits.

Whereas the terrorists KNEW what they were doing and what consequences it would cause, the Survivors macro'ing their flashlights did not. Ergo, it fits better with my example, where an oversight caused serious harm.

Likewise, nowhere does the OP state they were with their cousin. I took it as the OP walked in on their cousin having a seizure and took appropriate measures to get them help. If they were not, you are essentially accusing the OP of being a psychopath who intended to cause harm to their family members. Sagan Standard, if you are going to make extraordinary claims, you need extraordinary evidence.

You have assumed without any supporting evidence and have accused the OP of being negligent at worst and intentionally causing harm at worst. I think you should carefully consider that.

Whereas the terrorists KNEW what they were doing and what consequences it would cause, the Survivors macro'ing their flashlights did not. Ergo, it fits better with my example, where an oversight caused serious harm.

That example was to prove that BHVR had nothing to do with causing the epileptic seizure itself. That's what the survivors did.

So like how I iterated, this issue lies with the survivors (i.e. terrorists) than BHVR (American Airlines).

I took it as the OP walked in on their cousin having a seizure and took appropriate measures to get them help.

Quite a specific premise you are setting for the OP.

Instead of thinking that the OP was literally next to the cousin when all this happened, you are here to tell me that we should assume that the OP just happened to walk into the room at the EXACT TIME the cousin was foaming at the mouth while playing the game he also happens to passionately play? Does that make any common sense to you?

Have you ever witness an actual epileptic seizure before, Pulsar? They don't scream or even make a loud noise, meaning it's not that cliche. It's highly unlikely that the OP "walked in" the room while his cousin was on the ground foaming at the mouth while having an epileptic seizure.

I think you should carefully consider that.

I did and I still stand by my conclusion.

"Yes, they will be and I wholeheartedly agree that DBD is in the wrong for not putting a sign that warns people of epilepsy.

BUT, DBD itself does not inherently cause epilepsy. Third party programs that exploit a feature using a Macro that was never meant to flicker that fast is what causes them, so in BHVR's case, it's a little different from your Disneyland example."

I do take issue with that statement. This implies that BHVR is not aware that there are macro's for flashlights. I find this very difficult to believe. For a real world example, if a car manufacturer unknowingly sells a car with faulty brakes and you get in an accident, that doesn't mean they are "off the hook" so to speak. Negligence about an issue doesn't get rid of culpability.

As an aside, I do not like how quick you are to blame the OP. OP did not specify what happened to prompt their cousin to play DBD. There are any number of scenario's in which this is not their fault. Instead, you chose to assume that it was OP's fault and blamed them, when in reality, it is far more likely that they were unaware of their cousin's choices. Perhaps it's a personal opinion, but blaming someone (without ANY proof) who just went through a likely traumatic and terrifying event is extremely distasteful, to say the least.

I'll try to respond in the most logical way possible.

What I'm emphasizing is that there are two separate faults taking place here. For example, on September 11th 2002, we all know that terrorists hijacked an American Airlines plane.

Negligence about an issue doesn't get rid of culpability.

Now, I do blame American Airlines (in this case, BHVR) for having terrible security that couldn't even prevent MULTIPLE terrorists from boarding their planes. BUT, at the same time, I can't blame American Airlines for the terrorists' atrocities as it was out of their hands at the point.

It is BHVR's fault for having terrible hacking prevention system, but the real perpetrators (i.e. survivors who exploit the game using macros and hacks) are not and should not be clumped together with the company regarding this issue. They should be handled separately.

I do not like how quick you are to blame the OP

I have heard this before and I still cannot agree with it.

The OP is a DBD player who has played the game for a LONG time (his posts alone can prove this). He would most likely be more experienced and even be more familiar with the game than the cousin (otherwise either that cousin never had a seizure before all this time or he was just REALLY unlucky here, but I doubt this is the case).

The epileptic episode clearly took place in close proximity with the OP (cuz he recounts seeing the whole thing and being absolutely terrified) and states he even knew of the preexisting condition his cousin had.

So to sum it up, the experienced OP had a cousin who also played the same game he plays for a long time (and is quite passionate about) and even witnessed his very episode in the very same premise.

But we are to assume he never knew and that he had no knowledge of this at all in the first place? I doubt it.

Actually it would be more like you bringing your cousin to disneyland. He has a heart condition. You go on a ride with no additional warnings on it and the park allows you on the ride. They have put up no indications of increased risk and give no warnings that the ride is more prone to causing heart issues than any other ride in the park. However, they are aware of these risks, they just don't inform the guest of it. You go on and your cousin has some sort of heart issue as a result.

In this case, Disney is legally culpable for anything that happens. They were aware of the increased dangers but took no actions to inform guests of the risk and actively ignored it, depriving the guest of necessary information to make their own decision on their health. I don't see the difference here, really. It is a very similar issue. The only way it really, to me, could be argued to be totally different, is if behavior didn't know of this issue. But that means you have to believe they have ignored every thread, message, question etc regarding these issues, which is unlikely.

Also, you are required to give reasonable accomadation for people. Don't want to? Go do business in a different country. It's not even like they have to remove survivors holy flashlight clicking. A simple very clear warning on start up would be enough to legally protect them. Also, not all things cause equal issues in photosensitive people. Most photosensitive people can play most games fine. This game causing such issues is not a normal thing found across all games. It's a DBD issue. And as far as I am concerned, behavior (the company itself) is legally responsible for whatever happens. If someone has a seizure directly caused by this game, which has no additional warnings it may cause seizures, then the company is 100% responsible for whatever happens and can be sued for damages. And when real life stuff is happening causing possible physical harm to others, you can no longer rely on the law ignoring it because "video games." Don't treat peoples health and safety like a bug you can ignore for 3 years. "But this PS4 warns you" isn't going to cut it. I sure get no warning from the game when I boot it on my PC. I also do not think possibly putting a warning in a tiny document I have to cross Mount Doom to see, will be considered sufficient warnings to those at risk.

Your initial post only works if we accept the idea all games equally cause the same sort of issues in all photosensitive people. Which is objectively false. If a photo sensitive person can play other games but NOT DBD, then it's the games issue and sufficient warnings are legally required, at least by my country. I think a simple extra warning on start up would be a better outcome than a possible lawsuit.

    Sigh... This again?

Actually it would be more like you bringing your cousin to disneyland. He has a heart condition.

    Let's talk about this premise.

The kid has a heart condition. Okay, then why in the flying duck is that cousin going to an amusement park to ride dangerous rides that could cause his condition to get worse in the first place?

Remember now, the cousin knew he had epilepsy and the OP was aware of this also.

Terrible analogy that has no relevance to this very situation. Your argument will only work if nobody was aware of the condition.

In this case, Disney is legally culpable for anything that happens.

Yes, they will be and I wholeheartedly agree that DBD is in the wrong for not putting a sign that warns people of epilepsy.

BUT, DBD itself does not inherently cause epilepsy. Third party programs that exploit a feature using a Macro that was never meant to flicker that fast is what causes them, so in BHVR's case, it's a little different from your Disneyland example.

Also, you are required to give reasonable accomadation for people.

    Accommodation? For what?

You do realize that people who have preexisting knowledge of their illness don't get much compensation nor appeal in courts right?

They actually criticize you for making a poor decision.

In fact, compensations are only given to those who didn't have knowledge of their illnesses. His cousin knew. Once again, your example only pertains to those who have 0 knowledge of their health issues and were ignorant about them.

Your initial post only works if we accept the idea all games equally cause the same sort of issues in all photosensitive people.

Yes and that's exactly my point.

All games DO affect photosensitive people to a certain extent. That's why nearly ALL doctors will advise them to be VERY careful or even stay away from games all together due to this very reason.

However, DEAD BY DAYLIGHT is a horror game, with a darker screen, flashlights that shines light to the player, etc. Playing a few games can clearly prove this point.

    I iterate once more:

    • If you know you are epileptic, be careful of what you play.
    • If you are going to take a risk playing a game that clearly seems like it could cause an episode, that's on you. No one else to blame.
    • Unless you were NEVER diagnosed with an illness before, you cannot be proven completely innocent and not all the public will stand with you on your case.

That's all I have to say.

You will never snuff the totem unless you actively go looking for it because good survivors will never lead you to it. An even remotely decent CoH location on the opposite end of the map from a 3 gen or in main can take a killer 15 seconds minimum to just walk there, and another 15 back.

This also drops chase, and gives all 4 survivors chance to be on gens while you do this.

"It's only a single perk" Yea, it literally gives the entire team med kits for ONE perk slot. How am I being overdramatic?

Because you're blowing it way out of proportion.

CoH is not broken, OP or even unfair. It's a powerful perk, but it doesn't break the game. It's been adjusted, nerfed and balanced accordingly.

And like I said, Boons in general are still 2nd tier perks that is overshadowed by Borrowed Time, Self Care and most of all, Dead Hard. It's not as meta as you make it out to be. I see maybe one CoH and two if many in a team.

People still prefer bring medkits than CoH since it takes up a whole perk slot when they could equip smth more useful.

Rather than talking about a perk's potential, talk about it's usage rate and effectiveness. It's not THAT broken. I'm telling you.

It's also a public forum which people discuss so telling someone to "mind their business" is kinda funny ngl.

Hey, I never said it was wrong. I'm patiently waiting for it too.

I just found it amusing that the individual was more eager than most other people on this forum that's all. You can get off your high horse and mind your own business while you're at it.

Man did not just say scourge hooks and BBQ are similar in strength to circle of healing.

One gives the entire team infinite free med kits for 1 perk slot + guaranteed wins against hit and run killers, the others grant mediocre pressure and tracking.

I think you're being a little too overdramatic here.

CoH sucks, I know. I play killer too. But CoH has been nerfed already and it's only a single perk. It takes at least 12~24 seconds to bless, 1 second to snuff them. It has a distinct sound + blue light and it also helps me track injured survivors around the boon itself after memorising its location.

Not to mention, Dead Hard is still more popular than CoH atm so I think DH needs to be looked at first instead of focusing on CoH. Just sayin'

  • No, lol. Not yet.

You seem very eager. Why not wait a couple of days or even hours? Are you that interested in which character is going to get it?

  • Because each role have different interpretations of the situation.

Killer - I lost? Well, it's 1v4 and if the 1 loses even when it should be compensated for being outnumbered, then this game is unfair.

Survivor - I lost? Out of 4 survivors this killer chose to kill me first? This game is unfair and my teammates are trash.

It's the same BS over and over again that happens on the forums and it will stay like this forever, unfortunately.

Do you have some videos/VODs we could look at?

I'm likely at an intermediate-high MMR (not amazing, but mostly facing meta perks, quite a few SWFs and a lot of mid-level TTVs).

When I win, it's because I outplayed them as a standard M1 killer. The game would not have felt significantly different had I played Trapper or Pig. What difference exists, is mostly superficial.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2843161#Comment_2843161

I really dig her design. The stiff movements are, to my mind, intentional - this is very much how she moved in most of the films. I find it quite unnerving. Fluid, flowing design wouldn't have looked right on her imho.

The only thing I strongly dislike about her visually is that her camera is so low that maps with a lot of grass (or worse, corn) prevent me from seeing anything. It's a bit like Blight on release.

Yes, but she walks too fast for looking too stiff.

It's like your grandma walking with a cane pacing at a speed of a marathon athlete. It just looks really off somehow. Pinhead is also guilty of this (looking really slow but actually walking really fast), but he's tall and lanky while Sadako is like you said, tiny.

She should run like Victor at least, but this won't make any sense lorewise and would probably never happen.

  • @NekoGamerX said:

    what is the outfit?

    Highly likely Jake.

  • I'm going to politely disagree. I think she's one of the worst designed killers in a LONG time (visually).

Her animation looks very stiff. Pinhead is similar in this aspect, but at least with him you can see what he's doing. Sadako is literally bobbing her head every time she does anything and it looks really goofy.

Her design (albeit it not being BHVR's fault) is already REALLY bland, long black hair + long white one piece is though iconic, super rudimentary.

The only redeemable factor is the survivors' animations, but that's a bonus for the survivors not Sadako.

  • I mean, Leatherface brought BBQ and Pinhead brought Scourge hooks so I don't see why survivors can't get anything strong too. CoH was nerfed by a quarter percent already and Mettle of Man is even less popular than BBQ.

  • 1594866331730.gif

My first reaction was that it sucked buttocks.

It looks really cheap and it doesn't even look like a standard "Ultra Rare" outfit.

  • This is what happens when you release the teaser for the upcoming chapter MONTHS before it being actually released.

  • Or... those who got the game for free from Epic and have no idea what they're doing. lol

Anyway, with the current player count, I think it's impossible to find players that equip fewer/weaker perks that a new killer could be matched up with.

It happens to survivors too you know. First time playing a survivor, Killer has everything...

I'd guess because of the 100 Killer mains crying about her being crap is better than 10,000 survivor mains crying she is op.

I doubt that's the intention of BHVR, but in reality, I think they're just running out of ideas. Or, either they have good ideas but don't know how to implement them appropriately without creating a balancing havoc.

But I must say, I think trying to make a killer that solely relied on a now obsolete VHS tape as killer seemed pretty difficult to start with. Weird choice if you think about it.

People are saying it was normal for a game to lose players in 1 month or 2 months then on the holidays , people were saying it was normal to lose players because they are coming back to work or school.

If DBD loses players for 6 months straight is that not a concern?

Don't worry too much. Players come and go all the time.

An epileptic family member who I care for almost every day. You've done no research on epilepsy and your end suggestion was "Make all epileptics never see a screen." As if thats even possible in todays digital society💀

Hmmmm, is putting words in other people's mouths something that comes with taking care of an epileptic? or is that just part of your character? Where on earth have I stated that "all epileptics should NEVER see a screen"? Lol, someone has their panties in a twist.

And if you are really caretaking someone with epilepsy, I sincerely hope you do a better job at looking out for him/her than the OP.

And by the by, I have researched about epilepsy before. It started when I came across the porygon pokemon episode that happened decades ago, thus why the epileptic partner agreed with me being an actual epileptic patient him/herself.

So I have an approval of an actual epileptic and a disapproval from a caretaker of one who claims to know all about the symptoms. Go figure.

    1. "I have to be blunt here and say that a person with serious epilepsy should not be any where NEAR a game that has a flashlight or anything that allows fast on & off light feature." Implying its the cousins fault for being near a game that 'has a flashlight'
    2. "I mean, what was your cousin doing there in the first place? KNOWING DBD has flashlights that could cause something severe." You once again state "KNOWING Dbd has flashlights" IE the cousin should know better than to play DBD because it has flashlights
    3. "That's like me, bringing my cousin to play a clown game when I know he has Coulrophobia and being surprised when I see him foam at the mouth." Here we are downplaying the severity of the situation and treating it as if its just a little fear or not a big deal.
    4. "Same goes to the OP, a player that should know that DBD CAN cause epileptic seizures due to the nature of having toggleable flashlights" Stating its not on BHVR to have warnings or anti-epileptic measures its on THE PLAYER to know whether something could be potentially dangerous.
    5. "He/she should've known better." Self explanatory
    6. "I'm not arguing with you on warning signs. I want them too. But what I'm iterating is that DBD is always going to be bad for those who are photosensitive. " The classic "Yeah yeah BUT!" argument. You pretend to agree then go back on what you say entirely by adding "But they should know better.". Most of your arguments seem to stem from a lack of understanding epilepsy and thinking this must be the cousins first time ever playing a video game with a flashlight. Epilepsy can be triggered through different causes and it doesn't always share a common theme. A flashlight going off and on in one game may not be a problem but in another game it could be. It could also be the intensity/abundance of flickering (which shouldn't be possible is what OP is saying). Just because a flashlight is in a game doesn't mean it'll cause an epileptic seizure and just because someone has a seizure playing a game doesn't mean its their first time playing it EVER💀

Points 1~3 I still stand by.

    5 was regarding this OP.

Point 6, You're the one being mixed up here. The first point was regarding BHVR and their warning signs, the second point was regarding the OP and his reaction.

Regardless of what you say, epileptic people should NOT be near any video games that even mildly reacts their nerves.

The cousin took the risk and look what happened...

How do you know the cousin doesn't already play the game regularly? Its entirely possible the cousin already played the game and didn't have problems before this. How hard is it for you guys to understand epilepsy is different FOR EVERYONE and not every single light on a screen triggers an epileptic?

How do you know the cousin doesn't already play the game regularly?

Ah, then this makes the cousin in a worse situation than one he was in before.

Why would an epileptic person play a game that could cause epilepsy? If I was allergic to black pepper, would I even go anywhere near a food chain that serves something that could put me in an anaphylactic shock? Think about that.

Its entirely possible the cousin already played the game and didn't have problems before this

Meaning he played something he shouldn't or at least be very VERY careful of.

How hard is it for you guys to understand epilepsy is different FOR EVERYONE and not every single light on a screen triggers an epileptic?

It's not. But how hard is it for YOU to understand that if you have health issues, you stay away from what can cause you to have an episode as much as possible.

Bro stop digging yourself into this hole, I've seen your posts this entire thread trying to defend your bad take just take the L, backpedal, move on and grow and learn. Sometimes you get things wrong my guy, that is life. Just take the L say my bad and keep it pushing yikes...

My god here we go again...

You don't have to have an illness yourself to know what and whatnot to be aware of. For example, my mother has harsh tinnitus and anything that closely triggers an episode can cause worse tinnitus and even deafening.

So, even though I MYSELF don't have tinnitus, I look out for everything she does, she eats, she feels and even the way she sleeps to prevent those things from happening.

If my cousin happens to be epileptic and I know of it (just like the OP) I would definitely know what and whatnot to show/condone for that very person. It's not rocket science.

Your arguement is sound and its being misinterpreted. Never once did you blame his cousin so idk where that narrative is coming from.

I do it too sometimes. Read the first few sentences and make up my mind on regarding the ENTIRE topic.

I'm guilty too and that's why I'm not being mad at those who disagree with me. I'm trying to help them understand where I'm coming from, not blaming them for doing what I sometimes do.

I get what youre saying. You arent blaming the kid youre pointing out that OP has a responsibility due to him knowing the risks playing the game with that condition could pose.

But you also still believe that BHVR is part to blame as within the game there are glaring issues pertaining to photosensitivity.

Im just gonna disagree with you cause the OP is my friend. Not cause of an issue in logic.

    No offense taken.

I only want the OP to be better for his own cousin. I have no stake in this whatsoever. I wish the OP and his cousin for a speedy recovery and to learn from this traumatic experience for the better future.

Your first post alone shifts blame from BHVR to the cousin for playing the game while being an epileptic...are you blind or do you not read your own content?

Take it down a notch princess and I'll be more than happy to take you through this 7 page long journey of a discussion :)

I have to be blunt here and say that a person with serious epilepsy should not be any where NEAR a game that has a flashlight or anything that allows fast on & off light feature.

I mean, what was your cousin doing there in the first place? KNOWING DBD has flashlights that could cause something severe.

Feels more like short thinking on your part as a family member than the game/players' fault.

That's like me, bringing my cousin to play a clown game when I know he has Coulrophobia and being surprised when I see him foam at the mouth.

My first post indeed questions the presence of the OP's epileptic cousin there in the first place. BUT I was NOT shifiting the blame like you claim I have.

    @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2837498#Comment_2837498

The game does not inherently have epileptic tendencies to begin with. It's what the players do that causes it. It's not the game's fault for what players do.

Same goes to the OP, a player that should know that DBD CAN cause epileptic seizures due to the nature of having toggleable flashlights. Unless the OP was a newbie that didn't even know the existence/function of a flashlight, he/she should NOT have brought an epileptic family member to play a game where such outcomes could happen.

    That's the OP's fault, not BHVR's.

In fact, I go deeper into this topic by saying that the game itself does not cause epilepsy, cuz it doesn't. Really. I then say that it's the players' fault for causing this macro flashlight clicking.

    @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2837505#Comment_2837505

But something as minimal as the Doctor's electrics or lighting in some maps should not cause anything too severe even if you have photosensitive/epileptic people. And if you say it could then those people should stay away from video games to begin with.

What I'm criticizing is that the OP is blaming the game/players for macro flashlight clicking when he/she KNEW that such things were to happen regardless of whether or not the game had a warning sign.

    He/she should've known better.

And then I move on to blame the OP (which I still do) for not caring enough for his epileptic cousin knowing the health issues he has.

    Not the best life decision?!

The cousin could've had a stroke and even died! These things piss me the hell off, since it was completely avoidable if the OP had common sense from the beginning.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2837512#Comment_2837512

I'm not arguing with you on warning signs. I want them too. But what I'm iterating is that DBD is always going to be bad for those who are photosensitive. So as a responsible human being, keep people away from these types of games as much as possible if they suffer from it.

Those people shouldn't even be anywhere near a game like DBD.

I even sympathize with the cousin for having an irresponsible "other cousin" who didn't even have the common decency to warn him about the dangers of playing DBD while suffering from epilepsy.

and the list goes on and on. Read in your own leisure.

You see, I did not blame the cousin for being epileptic. I did the very opposite.

I did blame BHVR for not having a warning sign (though I still stand by that the game does not inherently cause epilepsy) and the OP for being irresponsible.

So there goes your point out the window.

All you've been saying is "Oh well its not BHVRs fault its yours and your cousins because hes epileptic and you guys should've known better." like how pathetic are you you have to take out your own problems in life on epileptics💀

    Oh really?

I would like for you to point out which exact post iterates this claim. I'll be patiently waiting. 😘

    Bruh....this take is cooked.

Listen, I don't personally have epilepsy but this game went out of its way a while back ago to fix flashlight blinds so they weren't so bright and dropped the ball. Pointing the finger at the OP when BHVR tried dealing with this before doesn't make a lick of sense. You're cooked m8.

I would like to also add that I did blame BHVR for not implementing an anit-glare mechanic in flashlights and for not having a warning sign before but I won't grudge you for that.

That said, I'm only blaming the OP for the cousin's sake. Nothing to do with the game whatsoever. That's a whole 'nother story.

I said there was certainly blaming going around. Because there was. Again, I rest my case.

    LOL hahahahaha

I mean, Google Chrome's ctrl + F [blame] feature could do the same thing you just did and can do it better actually.

But, thanks for pointing out the obvious user TAG. 😂

Well. Read the entire post and it’s again under the assumption the OP exposed an epileptic person to a Videogame that they know contains issues for epileptic people.

    its not blaming the victim..

The person has the time to post over 11k posts but can't take 5 seconds to read even one.

    How ironic.

    The post right above you:

"yes I did blame the OP and it was well-justified."

    I rest my case.

You read my entire post, processed it and acknolwedged it?

    I'm glad I got through :)

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2838484#Comment_2838484

I would consider it blaming when someone actively says something to the extent of "It's your fault." Which was said in this thread.

As the sole individual who partook/started the very conversation, yes I did blame the OP and it was well-justified.

Look, "blaming", though I call it genuine criticism isn't always bad. In fact, I could've just glanced at the topic and could've just surfed away. I mean, who cares if some nobody's cousin on the internet dies from an epileptic seizure right? Doesn't affect me personally. It's just another death out of the 300 deaths that occur every year regarding epilepsy.

But I do care for the epileptic cousin. I do care about the incident. And what made me mad is that is was completely avoidable if the OP was caring enough to restrain his epileptic cousin from playing a game like DBD which has:

    • Darker atmosphere than most games (which worsens the chances of preventing the seizure).
    • Relies heavily on flashlights that shines the screen.
    • And has no warning sign to begin with.

And the OP knowing, KNOWING all this as a veteran DBD player and also KNOWING his epileptic cousin is going into it without knowing the consequences is mind boggling for me.

What I'm trying to do is to let the OP know that what he did was wrong and that the same thing could happen to something that's NOT related to DBD if the people around him aren't looking out for him.

Pity Parties aside, this is an actual serious issue in regards to life or death situations. Grow up and put on a pair.

  • I mean... that's my every game since the day I started playing 3 years ago...

  • lol, depends actually.

Some smaller scale pools don't have lifeguards.

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2837749#Comment_2837749

Simply because the OP knew about the epilepsy isn't enough to make them think about the dangers and warning the cousin. If it doesn't pass your mind about that, why is it your fault?

    Lol, okay.

Having family members with different health issues i.e. Diabetes, Tinnitus, Parkinson's disease and Macular disease, I'm always looking out for their every move/actions/diet/mood. I find it to be my responsibility as the most healthy person looking out for the family members in need of assistance.

Maybe it's just me. I'm sure thankful I don't have you as my family. haha jk

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2837741#Comment_2837741

If a company makes a product and doesn't add "may contain x", and the consumer dies because of anaphylaxis, is it the company's fault for not putting that warning there, or a family member's who works there and knows there are those traces in the product, but didn't think of/ realize to tell their relative about it?

What the... What kind of an analogy is that?

    Of course both have responsibilities.

The company for not having safety precautions/labels and the family member for not being able to advise cautionary procedures despite knowing the truth.

I mean, is this really needed to be iterated? Isn't it common sense?

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2837730#Comment_2837730

It's not the OP's job or business to stop their cousin from playing. It's BHVR's job to remove flashlight macros and add a photosensitive setting, which turns off all instances of flashing lights.

Never said it was his job, but if my family had diabetes and I know the consequences of eating too much sugar and having low insulin and I have knowledge of it, I'd be the first one to advise them of the outcomes that may occur if things weren't taken into precaution. Same goes for the OP.

If his cousin played the same game he played and even knew of the dangers of playing said game while having epilepsy brings more questions than answers regarding his responsibilities, since he had knowledge of his health issues.

Something doesn't need to be a "job" especially regarding health of a family member.

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2837712#Comment_2837712

Have you read my text upside down, by any chance? Where exactly did I say THE COUSIN was far away? I clearly stated the cousin was playing either in the same room or the other one, and while they were having the seizure, the OP found them.

And once again, the OP is to blame? Why? I ask again, when did the OP say they showed their cousin the game or they made their cousin play? You are making assumptions and blaming the OP based on them.

Well, my apologies for reading it wrong.

Now regarding the hypothetical situation where the cousin was the only one playing the game, I can't really grasp this theory.

The OP clearly plays DBD and even if the cousin was to play the game in his own leisure/prerogative, I doubt the OP was unaware of the fact that his cousin played the same game he plays regularly. And it would be even worse to think the OP never advised his epileptic cousin about the dangers of playing DBD while suffering from epilepsy.

Either way, the hypothesis doesn't seem to add up.
