They acknowledged it in a bug report so yes.. its a "bug" or a test disguised as a bug to mitigate the rage..

Well there goes my answer then.

Bhvr has been deleting posts that mention a survivor perk that crashes other peoples games, is that intentional? Is that meant to be that way?

And what is that perk exactly?

I have not heard of this until today. I believe Wake Up is off, but there's another one that crept up?

  • @Pulsar said:

I was actually going to say it started as a fun little project but once they realized what they had, they marketed it to kids, hence where we are now.

It's marketed towards kids as of 2022.

    Whelp...

I just think it's not a bad idea to give them a chance and I mean "them" as in BHVR.

Ah yes, a map that is the same since launch and a map that is bugged in favor of survivors is 100% the same

I don't think a map was bugged ever before and if it was I will retract my statement regarding this issue.

But if BHVR literally left it that way, then it's meant to be that way.

  • @Zozzy said:

What is bugged on Midwich? Badham has a bug that opened up an infinite.

We don't know if it is a bug. I'm not willing to go down the what if lane without BHVR actually addressing this issue.

If it isn't then it's meant to be that way.

  • Regardless of balancing, that's going to cause coding issues. And with latency being a huge factor for these sorts of things in DBD, it's going to create a huge shitstorm of bugs and fixes.

  • I've been to Midwich as survivor a whole lot recently, but do you see me complaining?

If there is a realm that favors killers, there's also one for survivors. You can't have the cake and eat it too. Either kill switch both or don't killswitch at all.

  • @Pulsar said:

It's target audience is kids. That doesn't make it bad but it's literally marketed towards kids and that's undeniable

I mean, even though I don't follow FNAF at all and was kind of a huge anti-FNAF4DBD person, I have to say that franchises can change their premise as time passes.

That's like saying Harry Potter is for kids and yet as the story went by, it became more mature alongside with its readers/viewers. I wouldn't jump to conclusions with FNAF in that regard.

About the "6 hits" I suppose then you're not using med kits, dead hard (because it is a free button pass to a hit) or hatch sure? because hatch if gens are not repaired is another unfair chance right?

I suppose your answer will be something trashy like of course survivors deserve 2323423432234324234 tries to escape, but killers can't camp or tunnel if needed to stop the gen rush

The meta game now is clear, kill one survivor fast or you're done, most killers that doesn't have map control NEEDS to kill one survivor ASAP, fix gen rush and I'm sure less killers won't camp and tunnel.

also its just a game, camping is a gambling, if the team keeps doing gens the killer is done with depip and 1 hook in the game so its your team fault too if they go into the killer plan :)

TL;DR: if a killer camp there is counterplay, for the rest of the team do gens and the killer is done, depip and game finished

for the camped one, click the play again button its not a big deal :)

a lot of unfair things should be fixed before camping

So you have no idea how MMR works.

" You really think "winning" in this game is to get 4ks or finish 5 gens and exit? If so, then it clearly explains why you have such impulsive thinking. If not, I would like for you to elaborate.

What happened to actually using mind games and playing fairly?"

According to the devs, for the killer winning is precisely getting 4ks as kills are the only thing that counts towards MMR. Therefore the devs are very clearly saying "Get kills any way you can" is the way to play the game. Similarly, escapes are the only things that count towards MMR for survivors and again, the devs are very clearly saying "The way to play the game as survivor is to ensure that you escape".

    Pretty cut & dried.

As to your final statement, mind games are great for getting kills and so therefore you'll still see them. As for "playing fairly"...you're joking, right? This is an asymmetrical game where the slightest mistake on the killer's part is heavily punished and they can't relax for a second. I'm afraid you'll have to turn in your copy of the survivor handbook because nobody is going to adjust their playstyle just to suit your view of how the game should be.

Seriously, how entitled can you get?

Let me group ya'll together so I don't need to make two separate long answers.

I don't use addons, use Dead Hard (I actually despise that perk actually. Such a selfish perk. I even ranted about it in one of my discussions. Go check it out, I recommend it 😎) or bully the killer.

But when I started playing DBD, I played it as a fun little horror hide & seek game. And the devs have also iterated that this was the idea behind the game's inception as well.

Now, I don't know when this game became a competitive game, but it's not and will never be. It doesn't share the common characterisitcs of a competitive game therefore it isn't one.

Camping is for those who take the game WAY too seriously and want to win in the cost of other's expenses. What happened to playing the game your best, own up to your mistakes and just typing GG WP at the end chat?

Woops sorry, it's 2022 we're talking about isn't it? My bad. lol

  • Well... tbh I wasn't a fan of FNAF coming to DBD... but after all the new killers making it to DBD, I say why not at this point in time.

Quench the thirst for FNAF players and we'll all be happy.

  • Just need to maker her taller in general imo. I can barely see her in Coldwind farm hahaha.

Maybe she needs to stand up straight.

Nah im not blaming them for not knowing how he works or how to play against him but I ran a couple of times into people that seriously got mad at me and wanted to report me

That's just being plain unreasonable. That doesn't particularly have to do with not knowing how to verse a Demo.

I feel bad for new players having almost no opportunities to face Demo, but if they're going to act like spoiled brats then a part of me wish they continue to be ignorant and get pwned every time they see one.

I think you still missed the part about dbd having no epilepsy warning and the cousin not knowing about macros.

"Games like DBD" - Tell me, if you see some gameplay of a game where four people run away from a serial killer, should you be expected to know that the game is very likely to trigger your photosensitive epilepsy?

I don't want a cookie, but I just want to feel the satisfaction of saying "told you" to the person that wrote like 8-9 pages of unnecessary accusations on the OP and cousin.

LOL, okay PukenPlag. You got me in a few points you made in the long 9 pages. Congratz. 😄

And I'm literally giving the benefit of the doubt in trusting the words of the OP completely.

Tell me, if you see some gameplay of a game where four people run away from a serial killer, should you be expected to know that the game is very likely to trigger your photosensitive epilepsy?

No, but if you see a game that's literally so dark that even a small hint of light could irritate your eyes, plus you know you're epileptic, that should be a red flag from the get go.

  • Can we blame them though?

They can never interact with a Demo except for the rare occasions veteran players pick him and even then it'll be so short that they won't learn anything about him.

BHVR needs to add training mode with bots or smth.

  • OOOoooohhhh, my bad.

I never noticed this. Maybe it's a technical issue on BHVR's part.

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847069#Comment_2847069

@Voodoo_Thirsty so apparently the OP didn't know about macros being a thing and they DID warn their cousin and they DID walk in as I assumed.

All your points have been made redundant. Neither the OP nor the cousin knew about flashlight macros, making BHVR the only one at fault for not putting a photosensitivity warning.

@FriendlyBubba I sincerely hope your cousin won't have seizures again (or at least, as little as possible). One of my former friends had epilepsy and they really went through some ######### before they started taking medication. At one point, she got a 15 cm cut on her back that she needed stiching for. She just got in the bathtub then woke up in bed by her parents with that cut on her back.

Ever think about laying this thread to rest?

So what you got a few things right. Want a cookie?

I still have legit points that criticize epileptics playing a dangerous game like DBD. And like the OP said, if they already warned the cousin about playing games like DBD in the first place, then that's the cousin's fault for making a dumb decision despite everybody's warnings.

Maybe next time, he learns to stay away from games like DBD.

  • I don't really get this logic. Are you saying blocked breakable doors are worse for killers or broken ones are?

In most cases, unbroken ones benefit survivors more. Sometimes, it's the opposite.

Gideon is a good example as survivors can't easily go from one space to another without the door being broken, so killers are generally in an upper hand there.

Coldwind Thompson house is pretty killer sided as well, if the timing is right.

There's a couple out there, but no, it's not ONLY good for survivors.

  • @Marc_123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847794#Comment_2847794

Kills=Skill - a lot use tunnel and camp.

I play both sides, more casual, and am somewhat in mid MMR i think.

For me proxy camping happens sometimes (and am not saced and died on 1st hook) and i camp sometimes (against annoying teams).

I die often and don´t think it is that big of a deal as it is still a game. People here take this already waayy too serious.

I wonder that people don´t want to accept that there are situations where thing are going downhill and you lose. Be angry for a short time and go to the next game. Not really a problem.

So this further reinforces my points: That DBD players are so desperate to "win" that they resort to cheap tactics to achieve whatever "skill" they personally want to achieve.

And you talk about fighting a losing battle. Yes, I also accept a losing battle when I have less capable teammates or I'm up against more skillful survivors. But being camped is not a losing battle. It's a lost one and I couldn't do anything about it.

A losing battle at least leaves me a chance to fight. Camping does not. Big fundamental differences here.

  • @Starrseed said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847644#Comment_2847644

But isn't that stuff that happens in many games. Don't want to fight I just thought about my brother who plays a lot of shooter and there it's pretty common to start a round get a head shot and then you spectate the rest of the round waiting for your mates or leave to play the next

Yes, it does happen often. But head shots in FPS games are literally designed to take you out by the devs. Camping is a so-called "strategy" with no gameplay design intended for its purpose.

Devs did mention this that it was never intended to be part of the game, but they can't say it's "wrong" to camp. It should be frowned upon though.

  • @Marc_123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847771#Comment_2847771

You are actively on hook. In the first phase you don´t have to do anything in the second you have to press Space.

That is a part of the game - if you like it or not. You know -> Team. So you want to unhook others too as you now how it sucks. (Unless its Bubba)

And the simple solution is - don´t get caught first.

If you don´t like this at all DBD is maybe not the right game for you.

There is also another player - the killer - which only goal it is to kill you all. And he has to hook you all. Multiple times or defend the first hook long enough. That is also part of the game.

With your logic you would always play and never get hooked. You can do this if you are good enough.

Why is it always extreme cases with you people? Either play all you want or not play at all?

Your mindset is quite baffling not to mention unreasonable. You really think "winning" in this game is to get 4ks or finish 5 gens and exit? If so, then it clearly explains why you have such impulsive thinking. If not, I would like for you to elaborate.

What happened to actually using mind games and playing fairly? Is DBD so desperate that players need to resort to cheap cheese tactics instead of actually trying to learn how to play the game properly?

  • @TAG said:

It does not meet the devs' requirements of the definition of "holding the game hostage."

I'm already stood corrected by the other DBD forum users.

  • @Marc_123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847739#Comment_2847739

Yeah, being hooked is part of the game. You still play and can watch what your team is doing.

Here comes the Team aspect again. You need your teams help in this case. (If you are camped by Bubba your team should probably sacrifice you to escape)

You can run Deliverance and maybe self unhook but thats it. Same while being slugged. If you don´t have a perk for this situation you need your team to help you.

No, that's not "playing" at all. That's not what it means. That's just having the game turned on.

People turn on DBD to actually PLAY the darn game. You know, press Shift W, M1, ctrl from time to time... Not to sit and watch a teammate aura simulator.

And do you think people don't know how to fight against a camper? The problem is in most games where most of the players are solos, it's VERY difficult to rescue someone without replacing him or her. And that means, the last person to be downed is going to be unlucky goat that gets sacrificed for a camper's greed.

  • @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847683#Comment_2847683

    Yes. Yes it is

All 3 are nonsense terms made by people who want to blame their loss on their opponents somehow playing "unfairly" because they didn't follow some made up rules.

Tunneling, in any other team based multiplayer game is just focusing down a player. Sometimes that's because they're the healer, sometimes it's just because they're the best one on their team. Only here do people claim they have a right not to be focused down by the opposing side.

Camping is defending a killer objective. The killer is there to kill. This isn't the same as spawn camping in mp games, as the rescue Mechanics are literally built in. In any other game with a "prisoner" mechanic, you'll find them to be guarded. The smart move is generally to slam the gens out, which leads to nonsense term 3.

Genrushing is a term that was originally made in jest, until some people started taking it seriously. There's no reason not to do the gens as quickly as possible, unless you suspect noed and want time to count totems. However that, much like tunneling and camping, is purely a subjective tactical decision made by the players involved.

So are you saying that the game's state is fine as is?

Cuz I've been seeing a whole lot of "killers have to camp/tunnel to win" and "survivors need to gen rush to win", but you seem to believe these are nonsensical hissyfits made by entitled parties.

    @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847739#Comment_2847739

By that logic hooking a survivor at all would be taking the game hostage for them. As they have the exact same level of agency whether or not the killer is there. Just hanging out.

Also yes, a survivor most certainly can do nothing. I'm assuming you meant to type "A survivor can't do anything" which again, isn't dependent on whether the killer is there or not.

The chances are completely different. I think you know this better than I do.

Having a killer camp and not camp makes a WHOLE difference in survival rates. Camping closes it down to zilch.

  • @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847678#Comment_2847678

Except it doesn't halt the game. Part of the game, as survivor, is being on a hook, and possibly dying. Whether you go through the hook states all at once or in separate parts, the timer still moves, nothing is halted.

"game" meaning actual PLAYING the source of entertainment you have paid for and have currently turned on.

A survivor can't do NOTHING when you're being camped. Prove to me otherwise.

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847699#Comment_2847699

Try playing killer and get kills without any camping whatsoever. Let us know how it goes

Just had a couple of games today as Cenobite. Won all games without having to use addons and/or having to camp/tunnel.

All of the survivors were high gold + Red ranked, so either I'm a god tier killer, or the survivors are not as good as you claim they are. I'm inclined to believe the latter.

  • @burt0r said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847386#Comment_2847386

Ehm while i already read the whole discussion let me take up one point here.

The devs have said 5% are full 4 men swf, that does not mean 95% play solo.

From my very subjective experience playing between 8pm-1am, eu, on PC, with crossplay on, full solo lobbies are only a little bit more common than full SWF. The majority is a mix of solo/duo/3men swf. You get nearly no lobby without some player playing together.

So i would claim that maybe 50% or even less of all survivor are really solo during prime time.

    4 man SWF is 5%

3 man SWF would be around 7 or 8.

2 man SWF would be around 10 to 13.

All in all, the entirety of the SWF is mostly 20~30% of the entire (including consoles) playerbase.

That's still not significant enough to make a legitimate argument.

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847678#Comment_2847678

Camping is not holding the game hostage, for either a team or for an individual player. It’s a legit strategy and BHVR have said this only about 8,000 times. If killers played the way you want, they would lose 99% of their matches and have a miserable time.

Well, I won't be using the term "holding the game hostage" about DBD in that sense anymore, but I will reiterate that it is still in fact stopping the flow of the game for an individual.

If you claim that playing killer ties your hand to camp and tunnel, then that is a stupid argument that doesn't have a solid argument whatsoever.

That's like me, a survivor main saying, I can't win as a survivor unless I gen rush. Which is also a stupid claim. People CHOOSE to camp and tunnel just like how people CHOOSE to gen rush and do other stupid things like that.

Nothing forces you to play a certain way. Get real.

  • @Pewpew said:

Camping and tunnelling are made-up words entitled survivors throw around when they lose the game at no one's fault but their own.

Then is gen rushing a made-up phenomenon created by entitled killers?

I mean your words go both ways you know.

  • @Yatol said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847644#Comment_2847644

    your FYI is false information

holding a game hostage is a term that even predates DBD, its used for when players intend to prevent a game from ever ending, it has been used in other game. Camping someone in DBD means they are are on a timer in witch they will eventually die, meaning the killer cannot prevent the game from ending.

I literally said that it halts the game for another individual in the past two posts. So... I think I know the older version of the term correctly.

I think I used the term wrong for DBD though. My mistake and lesson learned.

  • @Marc_123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847644#Comment_2847644

FYI: holding a game hostage doesn't point to a specific premise. If a game halts for someone by another person's influence in a negative way, that's LITERALLY holding the game hostage for that person.

    And that is false.

Taking hostage means that the game cannot end. Like you are the last player and the killer blocks you in a dead end and you cannot get out.

If it means one or all players are dying like camping, bleeding out or Pig masks the is NOT taking the game hostage. It is just unlucky or annoying.

Do you... guys play any games outside of DBD? Cuz that's not how it's generally used.

Maybe DBD users use it differently, but taking hostage in other games usually eludes to someone literally holding the game to a halt for another powerless person.

Guess DBD uses it more specifically then.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/313934/if-camping-is-not-intended-why-are-hook-grabs-still-a-thing

Because, while BHVR have said that facecamping is too strong a strategy (and they want to change that, but it's a difficult thing to do without breaking the game), this doesn't mean that you should be able to safely unhook in the killer's face.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847096#Comment_2847096

That's...not taking the game hostage. This refers to situations where players trap people in a position where they can't end the match without DCing within a reasonable time.

Camping is just a cheesy way to win. I remember back when I first started - I camped a lot. I wasn't aware that this went against the etiquette of the game at the time. Not every camper knows that they are annoying people; it's an attractive, effective strategy.

Camping in and of itself doesn't need a reason. Some people do it cuz it's necessary, others do it to ######### around. You shouldn't cover people's eyes and tell them that it only happens in a specific situation just to create an alibi for them.

The act of camping is literally holding the game hostage of a player who does not have any other means to alleviate the situation, except to wait and die out or hold out for a fellow player to come get them.

FYI: holding a game hostage doesn't point to a specific premise. If a game halts for someone by another person's influence in a negative way, that's LITERALLY holding the game hostage for that person.

    GREAT question indeed.

    Ahahahahaha.

As a user with around 350 posts and over 1.5k upvotes, I think my opinion resonates with lots of people here. But I'll take your suggestion into consideration 🤭

maybe if you dedicated the same energy

Trust me buddy. I did and it didn't work.

But if you have epilepsy there's a bunch of other things in this game that would stop you from playing, one example is the doctor , you would be having to DC everytime it's a doctor as the killer and not only that but survivors would find a way around it, multiple people would start bringing flashlights and chain blinding behind each other to avoid the cooldown, while I can agree macro scripts should be out of the game there shouldn't be a cooldown on flashlights only a engine that detects macro scripts and doesn't start the game until they're off

I for one can't fathom this too. Why would you play DBD if you suffer from epilepsy? Just boggles my mind.

apparently, saying that you enjoy flashlight clicking = saying that you don't think macros are a problem. you're basically fighting a strawman. not all flashlight spammers are macro users, but all macro users are flashlight spammers. you dont see this logic though.

It's not a matter of difficulty. They don't CARE about it right now.

but they SHOULD. because it's their JOB. And they get PAID for it. the fact that they DONT is literally the entire problem presented in this thread.

you literally contributed NOTHING to the discussion, you're just trying to divert the attention, and excuse me if i assume it, but i don't see someone doing that unless they benefited from the problem themselves. therefore it's logical to assume you're a toxic, flashlight spamming survivor. anyway, im done replying to you. again, you're contributing nothing except stating the obvious or justifying bhvr's lack of action.

apparently, saying that you enjoy flashlight clicking = saying that you don't think macros are a problem.

    Yup. In your context? Absolutely.

but they SHOULD. because it's their JOB. And they get PAID for it. the fact that they DONT is literally the entire problem presented in this thread.

Go to Canada, find BHVR's HQ, ask the front desk for the devs, knock on their doors and complain yourself. Cuz they're not and have not for YEARS, listened to anybody's complaints on the forums.

you literally contributed NOTHING to the discussion, you're just trying to divert the attention, and excuse me if i assume it, but i don't see someone doing that unless they benefited from the problem themselves.

There's literally nothing to contribute. IT'S OUT OF OUR HANDS. I repeat.

    IT'S OUT OF OUR HANDS.

I hope that was clear enough for you.

and you accuse me of diverting the attention and benefiting from the said problem? I have never professed nor questioned the legitimacy of the problem people face with this flashlight problem. But that's the causation of the issue.

I'll reiterate again, I'm looking at CORRELATION. Here, I'll even quote the post where I've said this:

just say you enjoy flashlight clicking and go.

    This part.

You literally asked me a question and answered it yourself in a cynical manner that undermined my integrity without even letting me answer first. Which meant you assumed I was okay with the macros and I in fact, condoned in it for apparently "enjoying flashlight clicking".

on the other hand, you're quite literally admitting to whataboutism, which is exactly what I accused you of.

Accuse me of whatever. I don't work nor represent BHVR. I'm looking at correlations not causations here.

You're trying to get water out of a stone.

there is literally no excuse to not stop a toxic and possibly dangerous feature that takes one day to fix. even if there are bigger problems, I'm sure they could have found a slow day to work on that in 6 entire years.

You're guilty of your own accusations. We are both unaware of what is going internally in BHVR.

Your "I'm sure they could have found a slow day to work on that in 6 entire years." holds as much weight as my "I'm sure they have other more important things to fix first."

I understand the causation for this topic, but looking at correlation, it looks like BHVR is too busy with other stuff and are afraid to tackle the huge mountain of fixes they need to face if they start.

If you're not happy with the correlation, feel free to think otherwise. But at least with me, I have the higher chances of saying "I told you so" in the near future.

You said camping is holding the game hostage which is false as the game is still going on and the survivor on hook is dying its up to the survivors on what happens next if they were smart they would bait out a hit than go for a rescue or have another healthy survivor go for the rescue while they are in the weapon cleansing animation

If the camping killer is a bubba the smart thing to do is do gens and not rescue

Also as someone who has been on the receiving end of face campings I would rather have my team do a gen or two before rescuing me ESPECIALLY if they don't know how to rescue without getting grabbed and ESPECIALLY if the camping killer is a bubba

It's up to the face camped survivor and survivors on how the game goes like will they reward the killer or punish the killer

Like getting camped sucks but it's not holding the game hostage

    Agree to disagree then.

Taking the game hostage means intentionally prolonging the game for an indefinite amount of time to prevent the game from ending.

Camping doesn't do that as survivors can do gens and the person on hook will die

Funny thing when I brought up the boilover fiasco when there was actual games being held hostage you ignore the point and say well that's just a small portion of the playerbase it doesn't matter if it's a small portion you know what's also a small portion cheaters

It's obvious that you don't play both sides because if you was you wouldn't be making so many excuses for survivors and doing whatever you can to go after killers

So your argument in a nutshell is:

    1. SWF abuse the game as well.
    2. It is therefore okay for killers to camp.
    3. Don't matter about the 95+% of the playerbase who play solo, cuz you guys are all survivors.
    4. And if you don't want us to camp, make the SWF stop abusing the game.

    That's about the gist, correct?

Wow, I don't even know where to start with this one...

you ignore the point and say well that's just a small portion of the playerbase

Excuse me, but I have not IGNORED anything. In fact, I specifically bolded the very phrase: "Those SWF abusers should be stopped as well." after the very statement regarding the percentage of SWFs in DBD.

Stop assuming things and start reading carefully.

Camping doesn't do that as survivors can do gens and the person on hook will die

This is just unfathomable. This excuse is only regarding those remaining 75% of the team. You can't seriously justify that the hooked survivor has to endure this without good reason?

It's obvious that you don't play both sides because if you was you wouldn't be making so many excuses for survivors and doing whatever you can to go after killers

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Being a Trickster/Cenobite main, I can't believe you just said that, but I'll let it slide.

I'm only criticizing killers cuz the topic is about them.

I also criticize survivors all the time for T-bagging, BMing in general and bullying killers. It's just the title of this topic was "If Camping is not Intended, why are Hook Grabs still a thing?" and the last time I checked, survivors don't hook grab and camp so there's no need to bring survivors into the discussion now is there?

    Steam.png

and here's a nice little screenshot of my Steam profile page to justify my stance on playing survivor/killer.

You do realize that DBD's anit-hack software can't even prevent simple macros right?

It's not a matter of difficulty. They don't CARE about it right now.

They're more inclined to fix bugs for killers than wanting put a sign that can prevent epilepsy for photosensitive players.

    Holding the game hostage?

Hahaha haha please with how many survivors try to hold the game hostage if given the opportunity

camping doesn't hold the game hostage as the game can still go on and end unlike the old boilover fiasco where there were survivor swf's intentionally not playing the game and actually trying to hold the game hostage if the bleedout mechanics weren't in the game both sides would be holding the game hostage

    Holding the game hostage?

    Yes.

please with how many survivors try to hold the game hostage if given the opportunity

This doesn't even make any grammatical sense. Please elaborate further.

camping doesn't hold the game hostage as the game can still go on and end unlike the old boilover fiasco where there were survivor swf's intentionally not playing the game and actually trying to hold the game hostage if the bleedout mechanics weren't in the game both sides would be holding the game hostage

That example is specifically criticizing the smallest player group out of the entire DBD playerbase (less than 5% if I recall) and it doesn't justify the reason to camp still.

Those SWF abusers should be stopped as well. But "they do it so we can too" rhetoric is too childish for anyone to actually comprehend it, especially for those who play DBD who are supposed to be an audience of 18 and over.

typical bhvr shill whataboutism. this takes at max a day to implement, it's a low effort big reward feature.

it would make sense if they were actively fixing hacking, or addressing any other of the other big problems the game has (sbmm, dh, grinding, camping, CoH) but we all know that's not the case.

so what is the point you're trying to make? since we don't get fixes to the big problems, we don't deserve qol changes to the smaller ones either?

just say you enjoy flashlight clicking and go.

    @MandyTalk

Someone has their knickers in a twist and what's with DBD forum users and their terrible comprehension skills? Did you guys at least graduate from middle school???

You do realize that DBD's anit-hack software can't even prevent simple macros right? and yes, using a macro or any third party software not designed specifically for DBD is considered a hack. A bandaid fix won't cut.

They need to either redesign the entire system from ground up or try using another anti-hacking software to alleviate these issues.

Here, read my post again. It's only a 4 sentences response. Where and when have I said that flashlight macros are not a problem?

I said that it's not the most severe one and it's scale of magnitude is not worth BHVR's attention atm as there are far more serious issues that must be dealt with before even looking at this one.

It's an abuse of power in which killers can hold a game hostage and not let one player actually play the game for the entirety of the match.

No-one is guarantee to "play the game for the entirety of the match", where did you get this idea? That's just survivor entitlement.

You play the game to go into a trial with a killer. Whether you live or die, and how quick, it down to a combination of factors. For you to have been camped, you must have at least been chased... twitce (being as it takes two hits to down you), and your team failed to rescue you before they were hooked.

They presumably also failed to pressure gens and force the killer away, or trade hooks.

Stop blaming the killer for literally playing the game!

And once again, I'm not inclined to believe that you have any experience with actual toxic killers or have played enough of survivors to fathom the problem with camping in general (and taking a simple look at your discussions, I can tell you are a killer sympathist right off the bat).

No-one is guarantee to "play the game for the entirety of the match", where did you get this idea? That's just survivor entitlement.

Entitlement? So you think it's fine for someone to bully another? Is that victim entitlement as well? Wow, you seem to be very entitled yourself. Unless the survivor did something wrong (i.e. hack) I find it morally questionable for you to abuse your power as killer to force others from playing the game.

For you to have been camped, you must have at least been chased... twitce (being as it takes two hits to down you), and your team failed to rescue you before they were hooked.

    Another unlettered argument.

So out of 6 total hits you are given per match, you're telling me that losing one third of that is justifiable to be camped? And this clearly demonstrates that you never played enough survivors.

They presumably also failed to pressure gens and force the killer away, or trade hooks.

Unless there is a mechanism that forces killers to move to an objective regardless of the input being given from the player, the killer is not obligated to budge. Meaning, camping killers are going to camp regardless.

Stop blaming the killer for literally playing the game!

Lol, can you see how rudimentary, not to mention juvenile the conversation becomes? Instead of actually seeing how forcing a person to stay on hook for an ENTIRETY of a match can be distressing and discouraging for people to play, you brush it off as "entitlement" and pretend everything's fine.

The people who paid good money to play a game should not be abused by others to the point they're either waiting to die on the hook or DC.

As @cordonrouge said, adding a cooldown on a flashlight would not take a long time to add. "Fixing hacking" absolutely will, especially as that is a moving target.

Camping is a legit tactic and not an abuse of power or holding the game hostage. I hope you aren't wasting the devs time reporting campers. Kills/escapes =skill. Don't get caught.

I don't. Cuz I know the devs think it's legit. It's a waste of MY time, having to report smth the devs don't care about.

But it still doesn't mean it's not frowned upon.

And if your magic button for preventing camping is to not get caught, then that's the most childish thing I've read on this forum until this day.

    .....

    ...... Just a little more!

    Not camp at all?

  • @cordonrouge said:

what's is it? I know they reply on here. but they don't actually say anything useful.

why does flashlight not have a cooldown of at least 0.10 seconds to avoid macro? or a similar value that would make no difference to human reaction speed.

better yet, why not make the flashlight break if clicked 3-4 times under a very short amount of time? imagine how healthier the game would be without toxic survivors clicking.

it literally takes one programmer a couple of hours to do this btw.

I'm genuinely curious what your excuse is. I refuse to believe you're this incompetent, at this point I 100% believe that you're just in bad faith because you know toxic survivors give you the most money.

i would be very happy to be proven wrong.

    The current hacks include:

    • Two killers against 3 survivors.
    • Flying killers with fast shooting iri hatchets.
    • Subtle speed boosts for survivors.
    • Head on that not only stuns the killer for 1 whole minute or so, but also removes collisions of the killer.
    • DDos attacks.

And yet you think flashlight macros are the problem?

This game has too many bugs to fix and that is not the highest priority in BHVR's views.

  • It's an abuse of power in which killers not let one player actually play the game for the entirety of the match.

Back when the game was more fair, they were criticized of this behavior. After SBMM and with killer mains crying that the only real way to "win" (don't even know what that means anymore lol) is to camp and tunnel, these guys are now creating their own alibis to justify themselves too.

Grabbing players is fine, but it's the people who abuse them that's the problem.

Really doesn't matter what you think, honestly. Courts will inevitably decide and there is really no precedent for behavior to win if it goes to that. Sorry. Behavior is objectively at fault. Your entire logic relies on this idea people with epilepsy cannot play any game at all, which is a lie. Why is this game different from every other game? Because the devs cannot program? The game objectively causes more issues for epilepsy than any other game and must legally have a warning, as any ride would. I'd just put the warning rather than risk my rinky dink game company going to court and also getting dragged through the mud in media.

"HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN IT WOULD GIVE HIM A SEIZURE BECAUSE ALL GAMES GIVE PEOPLE WITH PHOTO SENSITIVITY SEIZURES!" You have given zero logic as to why a person would assume DBD has worse photo sensitive issues than any other game. Your entire argument relies on the idea photo sensitive people cannot play games and should not and should know that when that isn't true. I have no idea why you speak so passionately about a condition you clearly have no understanding of at all. If you don't want to reiterate, then don't come back to the thread. It's clear most people disagree with you and aren't going to agree, and you're just digging this hole deeper and deeper. And yes, you get accomodation for neglect which this objectively is.

You know what? I wasn't the one who commented first. YOU decided to tag me in and quote my post in the first place, so I don't know why you're telling ME to back off first.

And regarding DBD being more dangerous for photosensitive people, I have said before that the game itself is darker than most other games, and even small hints of light could stimulate, not to mention irritate the nerves of a photosensitive person who's peripheral vision would be heavily focused on the screen. This in turn creates a bigger chance of creating a bigger seizure than normal lighting as the cornea is scarce of light that could help eleviate the severity. I have iterated this before and a fellow epileptic person agreed with my statement, so I have official approval from an actual patient who suffers from epilepsy who probably is knowledgeable in regards to the illness he personally suffers from.

And I repeat, they can play games. They can go watch movies at a theatre too. They can also go to a laser tag establishment for all I care. I'm not here to take away their ability to do something. What I am saying is that with risks comes consequences and we (as in the public) are not responsible for any outcomes that come along with taking said risk. Just like those kids who ate Tidepods, knowing it'll be bad for them. Just like those kids who took selfies in a raging storm and drowned. Just like those kids who go to dangerous places and get lost. It's their freedom to do whatever, but don't come asking for sympathy if something bad happens. There's a saying, hindsight is 20/20.

That's all I've got to say regarding this matter. I won't be replying to anyone any more since this entire forum gets too invested in pity parties instead of focusing on what's real and what really matters.

FYI: If you really do care about the cousin, you should be teaching him life valuable lessons that could save his life in the future like me instead of telling him to get better and some generic ######### like that.
