His speedboost after uncloaking is most of the time useless in a chase. Its a really weak chase power. If you want to know how to loop wraith, then there are plenty of videos. You could watch Otzdarvas yesterday stream, where he tries to find the best build for every killer. Just do the same as the survivor he plays against and every wraith will suffer.
Great logic there.
Instead of actually finding a way to balance the game, you advise people to find a way around it.
Plenty of streamers, professional DBD players and other proficient players continuously stated that Wraith is A and up when it comes to tier and potential.
I have no problem of him staying there, but he's the ONLY killer to move faster than a survivor and outrun them to a pallet. If he has that advantage, at least you need to give him some disadvantages to compensate. That was my initial argument.

The only way to balance it would be he can pass though pallets then otherwise he’d be bonked then flashlight by players
That's a common feature of ALL killers.
@glitchboi said:
So encourage more hit & run playstyles? No thanks, his chase is already average.
He has a massive speed boost when he uncloaks. What do you mean his chases are average.
Preventing him from body blocking is the point here. His chases aren't going to be any different.
-
Definitely Trickster.
He's young, buff and mentally psychotic.
Clown is deranged, but that's just it. He's super obese and coughs every step he takes. Trickster will probably outrun him and throw knives at his face while the Clown has a hard time trying to even catch up to him.
-
Won't happen and SHOULDN'T happen.
Main cuz DBD has a hard time already processing and loading preexisting assets for preexisting characters.
If Create a Survivor happens, then that means more facial rigs & textures to load, more hair/body shape/skin color to take into account when the game begins and times that by 4 for each Survivor player.
This will not only cause more lags than there is, but also make BHVR want to pull their eyes out to optimise to the new settings.

Anecdotal evidence that's based literally off 2 matches....clearly this is concrete evidence something is amiss!
Yes, 2 matches that I was able to get the achievements of 0.5% & 0.1% percentage of the total playerbase has achieved IN A ROW.
Clearly, you don't think I'm an actual adept player at Pinhead and Trickster right after only playing two consecutive matches, right?
-
I'm not mentioning this cuz I want to boast.
I'm LITERALLY baffled that all of these rounds were for "practice" and yet, I am "adept" at these killers now.
I think it's flawed as hell and no way should this be allowed. It's ridiculous.

he has, over and over again for like an hour dude.
Well that's good to hear.
I just didn't get why he used a really specific context to justify any toxic behavior.
People.
Let's just not be toxic at all and play the god damn game as how it was designed to be played.

Yes but that doesn't justify taking what happens in-game than hurling abuse at the person out of the game most esports leagues if they see this happen will and do ban people for it, Toxic behavior outside a game is never justified never you don't get a free pass to be a monster outside the game because you lost a game. This is the hill I am willing to die on.
Wow, some logic you got there.
So I can be a little prick in a match all I want, but can't be called out once I'm out of it?
How about we just say "toxic behavior is never justified" instead of specifying certain contexts?
Why's that such a hard concept to endorse?

These killers claiming DBD is a PVP game therefore it's a competitive game.
Look, DBD is FAR from being competitive.
PVP? sure.
Heck, even Hearthstone is a PVP game. But while Hearthstone is a competitive game (and rightfully so) DBD is far from it. Just because the game has ranks, it doesn't mean jack #########.
And just because it's "PVP" or "competitive" (which DBD is NOT) it doesn't mean they should play like that. I didn't pay 20+ $$$ to be sent out of the match 5 minutes into the trial.
As a killer, I play to keep everyone enjoyed. Even if you die (which is indeed the Killer's objective) you wouldn't feel like you've been forced to leave.
As a survivor, I never taunt a killer, gloat the killer nor t-bag obnoxiously at the exit gates or spam flashlight clicks. If I die due to the killer being better than me, then too bad.
Camping and tunneling isn't about the game being competitive. It's about playing like an ######### which is more of a personal issue than the game's.

This is my first one. I thought clown's was enjoyable. Though i really didn't learn anything about him which was what i was hoping for. It does make him feel a lot scarier though. But it's just kinda telling in detail what we already know he does. Jake's is interesting... i am finding it hard to understand right now though. And i haven't started the observer one. Overall i am enjoying the tome and rift. I am excited for the next one, now that i know how they work.
I liked the Clown's. Kinda cliche, but still enjoyable.
I get why people might get confused with Jake's story though. It's kind of all over the place due to the "voices" being hard to differentiate. Also, there are many things that may confuse non-Koreans regarding Korean culture and terminology.
Just to let people know:
- Jake's grandfather is most likely a veteran soldier of the Korean War which is a significant civil war (turned international) that split the peninsula in half.
- A Hanbok is a traditional Korean clothing that was worn during the ancient times and is still worn today for traditional rituals.
- The part where Jake is a baby and is trying to grab stuff is based on an old Korean tradition called "돌잡이 (dol-jabi)" where the baby (whose turned 1) grabs an object with a specific meaning. Brush means the kid will grow up to become a scholar, money means becoming rich, etc. That's why the relatives were cheering for him to grab the money, lol.
- Baduk is a board game with Chinese origin that is played by mostly older Koreans. It's like Asian chess.
I hope these make things more clear when reading his lore haha.

More importantly, I was always under the impression that It's an asymmetrical horror film simulator. I remember back then, people joked about the idea of there being tournaments and stuff, because it was so far removed from what DBD is. When you watch a horror movie, it's not exactly FAIR is it? There's nothing quite like DBD, it's not meant to be reduced to the same quotas as every other game. Hell, there isn't even a proper wincon or fail state.
DBD was never intended to be competitive.
The devs said it themselves that the concept was conceived when they wanted to simulate a horror, hide & go-seek game for everyone to enjoy and have fun.
And now in 2021, it's all about "Keys OP" "Nerf Moris" "Screw SWFs" "Buff Solo Q".
and yet they still argue DBD is "competitive". SMH

tbh I still don't think ı've understand your point but which state doesn't matter ranks have a purpose and it is not being competetive it is for players to have fun more. Nobody enjoys getting destroyed, you play someone you can beat you enjoy it
All of the items and stuff with ranks what kind of bond you created there is the thing I can't understand
I'll put it simple.
If you buy anything in a competitive game it'll most likely be either of two things:
(1) Cosmetic items.
(2) An ingame item you buy during a match.
(1) applies to almost all games nowadays.
(2) applies to LoL, DOTA, Apex, PUBG or any other competitive games you can imagine.
DBD only follows (1) and not (2) and that makes a HUGE problem.
If I played a fighting game, I should be playing someone else who is on the same playing field. If my character had boosted stats thanks to some item I bought before hand, how in the hell do you consider that fair? And I repeat, if you throw fairness and equality out the window, how can you call it a competitive game?
-
@Bluerry said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/274770/just-remove-ranks-altogether
removing ranks means losing players imagine when you first started game played with a hardcore swf group instead of new players and its being happening frequently or just imagine a good killer is instantly downing you in 10 secs bc you are new.
Ranks are needed if ranks are gone it means something else probably SBMM replaced it both ways game tries to put you in a level which is what it should be
My point was that DBD at this STATE should get rid of ranks.
If you want to keep ranks, then remove all the assets that boosts your performance such as perks, items, addons and offerings that you can purchase before a match begins.
I don't think my logic is too difficult to grasp.

I can competitively milk cows, but that doesn't make cow milking a competitive field of work.
Now you're just equivocating. Your example would be like saying that video gaming as a whole is not competitive. PvP games are inherently competitive because you have players competing against players in a zero-sum game. That's just a fact of life.
And also, when have you ever seen a fair competitive game that allowed people to bring pre-purchased items that boosts their performance?
Yes, actually, like card games. Not DbD, though. Paid killers aren't better than free killers. Hell, the best killer in the game (Nurse) is 100% free, you don't even need to spend shards to get her. If you're referring to perks, there's always the Shrine - it's not perfect, but it works.
You see what DBD does that those games DON'T do?
I'll let you figure that one out.
As soon as you address why newbies should be matched against players with hundreds, sometimes thousands of hours, I'll think about it. And don't say they'd be matched according to play time, because that's just another type of matchmaking using hours as ranks.
Once again, you're missing the point.
Just because a game is PVP, it doesn't mean that the game is competitive.
Hell, there are plenty of casual PVP games and they're NOT designed to be competitive, regardless of how people play.
and when did I say that video gaming was non-competitive as a whole?
If the game is designed to be competitive, then it is.
Such case is League of Legends.
DBD on the other hand is clearly not.
If I was playing Tracer in Overwatch and was given 4 blinks instead of 3, had 50 more ammo, 2 pulse bombs than the enemy Tracer, that no longer classifies the game as a "competitive" game. Since both players are not on the same playing field.
If fairness and equality is thrown out the window, then how can you call a game competitive?
and trust me, the system will easily differentiate newbies from proficient players. It doesn't take a PHD to find the difference.
-
@Orion said:
I don't want a newbie with 10 hours going up against someone who reached rank 1, no matter how often you say "rank doesn't matter" and "DbD isn't a competitive game".
DbD is a competitive game. People compete against each other and most of them try to win by any means necessary.
As for rank, it's not the perfect indicator of skill, but someone who reaches rank 1 is probably a little more skilled than someone who just started playing. For the sake of player retention, it's important to separate newbies from more experienced players.
Ummmm sorry. I think you got things mixed up.
(1) Just because people play competitively, it doesn't make the game competitive.
I can competitively milk cows, but that doesn't make cow milking a competitive field of work.
(2) And also, when have you ever seen a fair competitive game that allowed people to bring pre-purchased items that boosts their performance? I mean, talk about bringing a gun into a knife fight, how can you see that mechanic and still argue that DBD is a competitive game?
Here's the list of the most popular competitive games in 2021:
- Fortnite
- PUBG
- League of Legends
- Overwatch
- Street Fighter
You see what DBD does that those games DON'T do?
I'll let you figure that one out.
-
Maybe a 5% increase in speed for each perk level.
Lvl 1 = 50%
Lvl 2 = 55%
Lvl 3 = 60%
I've read that SC is only disliked in the Western playerbase.
Asian servers consider you a troll if you don't have SC. Lol the irony...

I don't think BHVR would make a chapter so complex to the point where casual gamers would have no idea what they're playing unless they play 3 or 4 games of FNAF.
...so complex... vcr screens...
what is the connection between hellraiser and vcr again?
he was introduced in FNAF 3 which is YEARS after FNAF 1 & 2 according to my sources.
so? why would that matter?
I'm just saying... Hellraiser seems more plausible: for me, personally.
I understand your hopes and wishes for FNAF, but don't get your hopes TOO high, if you know what I mean.
If the hints led closer to FNAF then of course I would've written that FNAF was the more likely candidate. But looking at the correlation, I can't be so sure of it.
-
@Alice_pbg said:
your point is literally stronger if you don't mention
4) 1987 - People say it's the bite of '87, but that's chronologically confusing since Springtrap was introduced in FNAF 3 which is way after FNAF 1 & 2. Also, Hellraiser was released in 1987.
5) Video screen - FNAF isn't really known for having VCR tapes and old TV screens. Hellraiser literally has a scene with a TV screen flickering a red flower blooming, just like the teaser.
because they are so incredibly wrong...
I'm sorry to say, but for people like me, those are the only facts that are handed down to us.
FNAF started off as a CCTV footage checking game and sure, maybe later games introduced old VCR screens but only hardcore fans who's played the game for a long time will know that. I don't think BHVR would make a chapter so complex to the point where casual gamers would have no idea what they're playing unless they play 3 or 4 games of FNAF.
Also, other than Springtrap, no other animatronics would fit in DBD, but like I said, he was introduced in FNAF 3 which is YEARS after FNAF 1 & 2 according to my sources.
The hints are all over the place for FNAF's theory so I can safely say that Hellraiser is MUCH more likely for this chapter.
-
I meant "demanded" in the sense that people are so passionate about the franchise to be part of the DBD lore.
I felt the same for RE, but I knew what RE was about.
I just don't get why FNAF is so wanted for those who are asking for it.
-
Might be a little obscure, but...
KING OF THORN
by Yūji Iwahara
Loved the monsters and the whole Medusa virus concept.
People should read this more.
-
Chandelier?
-
Are you kidding???
You really think this game is competitive with all the addons and items that you can purchase beforehand in a match?
A real competitive game would not allow such a thing. It'll either be equal opportunities for everyone to buy items DURING the match (like League) or no additives at all, period.
DBD is not competitive at all. It's design isn't supposed to be. MMR is only going to filter those who know what they're doing (both killer and survivor) from those who have no idea how the game works. Simple as that.
-
As a 95%+ survivor main, I kind of agree.
I think the problem is that survivors have way more options to "troll" than the killer i.e. tbagging, clicking, pointing, waving, etc.
People should stop doing this especially at the exit gates.
That's why I fight my urge to gloat the killer and just leave right away nowadays.
-
To be fair, he's not eating a steak here. He's literally using the fork as a spoon.
Holding a knife and using the fork in your left is understandable, but this is a little different.
-
Personally,
Ace as Blight
Adam as Doctor
Bill as Deathslinger
Claudette as Nurse
Feng as Legion
Jake as Trickster
Jeff as Clown
Nea as Pig
Yui as Spirit
Yun-Jin as Huntress
Zarina as Plague
-
I... can vouch for this.
Went from a Clown main to Twins main and to a Plague main recently, and she is definitely a powerful killer even without addons.
The good part is, she's forgiving enough where if the survivors know what they are doing (i.e. not cleansing 24/7) it's a fair match between the killer and survivors.
Her vomits are long but inconsistent, she lacks any mobility and she has weak map pressure. But in the right hands, she can be a deadly killer.
Good design, the Plague. Don't understand why people don't play her more often.
-
Whole bunch of Wraiths, Blights and Clowns recently.
Surprisingly less Spirit (thank god), Pyramid Head and Huntress.
I BARELY see Ghostface, Twins, Hillbilly, Hag & Trickster.
-
I really wish we could see the whole thing for better context but here's my two cents.
- 1st Quote: More about Jake's mentality rather than his sexuality.
- 2nd Quote: This is about Jake being "different" or peculiar than other students who are taught in schools. Now you could elude to his "different" sexuality, but that's a little farfetched.
- 3rd Quote: I think this one's about his identity and heritage. I don't understand the "New Country" part, but his young age + Korean heritage is definitely the focus here.
-
The old characters (especially the original quartet) were seriously in need of updates.
Meg had a goofy mouth, Dwight had terrible lighting, Claudette had beaming eyes and Jake had pixelated texture.
They now changed all that for the better. I seriously can't understand why you people are complaining about this.
Meg seems the same, Dwight looks much more realistic, Claudette too, Jake finally looks Korean, Ace still has his smirk, Adam is perfect, Quentin looks like a teenager, David still looks beaten up, etc.
The only ones I dislike are Kate and Feng, but that's nothing to do with nostalgia, more so modelling.
2016 is FIVE years ago from now. Get with the times people.
-
Let's see...
- Granny (Sylvia Ganush) from "Drag me to hell".
- Invisible Man from "Hollow Man".
- Frankenstein's Monster from "Frankenstein".
- The Collector from "The Collector".
I can go on forever TBH.
-
Clown... couldn't care less.
Jake, sort of.
Jake's outfit is a bit of a downer for me. Looks too plain judging by the teaser, but oh well...

Would this then delay the release of Tome VIII? Or will this just be taking up the regular time gap between tomes?
I'd assume the schedule to be the same.
It's not like Tome 8 is still in production anyway, it's probably finished.
Tome 7's extension is purely based on performance issues so delaying Tome 8 would be a dumb decision.

He's Korean. He's based on Alex Lin, Production Manager at BHVR, who I must assume is also very handsome, or did something very nice for the artists.
Yeah, but sadly the new rework lessens Alex's canniness, but I'll always appreciate his contribution for modelling Jake's original face.
I really like his new face though.

Yeah but if you do it killer first the outcome is different even if we use the new method. But that's not what I'm asking mate I'm asking why survivors are placed first
Becuz grunts and moans come from SURVIVORS bruh.
If the sound is coming from the survivor, then shouldn't the survivor's perk be top priority?
That's like survivors having power over killer things like Bloodlust. That's just mental & illogical.
Stridor now only amplify sounds if survivors don't have Iron Will. Same way Calm Spirit prevent screams and other things SURVIVORS make.
-
I noe...
Seeing Jake & Kate's old faces in their portraits make me question life for a second.
-
Becuz the idea of having additive values for perks was stupid from the very beginning.
-
Interesting fact:
Trickster uses Jake Park's exact model but with longer arms.
I think he's easily portable as a survivor and even might've been planned to be one at some point.
-
This chapter made All-Kill (the chapter most people though was the most boring/bland) look like frickin' Hercules.
RE Chapter is solely sold based on nostalgia-sake and it's not worth the overpriced skins, game-breaking bugs and terrible balancing this chapter has brought.
RE fans need to stop and think about how this chapter not only ruined its own entry, but also ruined the 5th anniversary event for console players.
Shame for sure.
-
Nope, and to be very blunt about it: if you're playing on console, you need to understand that you guys will be (sadly) at the lowest priority for any game developer.
Consoles:
- Take longer to test (no ptb)
- Need additional approval from companies for every patch (Xbox|Microsoft, Playstation|Sony, Switch|Nintendo|etc)
- Harder to update (different codes for every console except PC which devs use to develop games)
- Cause more latency issues & overheats
- etc
It's not your fault as console players, but with that much obstacles, the devs must find it tiresome to keep fixing bugs after bugs.
-
Characters from Jeff look fine as is.
Jane, Jeff, Yui & Zarina look less awkward next to Yun-Jin, Felix & Elodie compared to the previous survivors.
I'd want them to change after 1 to 2 years or so. Right now, they look fine.
-
This theme feels very All-Killish and yet Jake was once again slept on despite Trickster & Yun-Jin getting another brand new set of cosmetics.
I get he's tome 8's main character, but I believe Nea has enough already.
-
I had one called "the Breeder" where the killer would place 3 plants around the map (like Trapper) and the more blood is accumulated around them from being injured or downed (say 10 meters) then they would make the killer stronger.
The survivors could also rip the roots up (using the Demo's portal ripping animation) off from the plants to keep them from growing, but they'll be oblivious and will not completely kill the plant.
Just a fun little idea :P
-
If the killer is not in his/her murderous mood, then probably the Plague since she sounds pretty genuine and devoted as a living person.
As for survivor, definitely Yun-Jin. The girl has gotten it rough her whole life and I just want to taker her out and treat her with some good food and a nice movie. You know, show her that life is not all about profits and business.
-
Huge fan of Jake, Kate and Adam.
Massive critic of Feng, Claudette and David.
The rest are decent.
Jake has to be the best though. He looks completely different in a good way.
Also, I'd like for the portrait artworks to change too to match the new faces for some survivors.
-
Depends on the killer.
I started playing the Plague recently and most survivors had no idea when and where to cleanse, etc.
As the killer, I only needed to learn how she played.
Survivors need to learn 24 killers and their perks/powers while killers need to only learn the basic core mechanics of survivors.
-
Eventually, only a handful of survivors will be played becuz of their perks.
And that would mean 1 killer would have to fight 4 of the most optimally powerful survivors.
I wouldn't want that.
-
TBH, BBQ is fine.
The only thing that irks me though is killers pretending that aura reading is useless when they pretty much depend on it when equipping BBQ.
That's like saying I only use Kindred to see where my allies are and not to see where the killer is.
-
As much as I like the new survivor models, I really wish they'd change the portraits too.
It'll look awkward to see new models with old portraits...
-
@[Deleted User] said:
BBQ is easier to get stacks and the aura reading is more useful than the healing bonus from WGLF.
Then should WGLF also provide aura reading and a bigger BP bonus like BBQ?
I wanna run WGLF as a base perk like BBQ, but I just don't see it often and I'm afraid it may not be as useful as it sounds on paper.
