  • Yes but in a different way. I would love to have more emotes in the game. Nothing crazy like dances but smaller stuff like waving.

  • Mad respect for trying to master him. I remember when I first declared that I'm becoming a Trickster one-trick and I haven't broken that vow yet. I think mastering/one-tricking someone only works if you truly love their gameplay, or I'd probably be really bored by now playing the same killer for almost a year now.

  • Make Trickster a 115% killer.

That's literally the only balance change I ctrl+F search new patch notes for passionately.

  • I currently don't have a computer that's completely my own to customize, but here's my phone wallpaper.

  • Definitely my husband. Even if they're not nice to me I'm blessed and honored to die at his feet.

  • I know that Alice Madness Returns is technically a psychological horror game but I would love to see any of these as a killer:

    OMG!!! AMAZING TRICKSTER!!!

    Thank you soo much!! 😭❤️❤️

  • I have a couple of points to make about this. If there's any statistic experts out there forgive me as I'm probably thinking of this the wrong way. I just wanted to explain where my brain goes with this.

    • There's a decent amount of games I play where all survivors will escape all on last hook. That means I got 8/12 hooks, or 67% of hooks needed to "completely win" the game, or get max points. But I end up getting a complete loss.
    • Lets compare that to a match where a killer tunneled and/or camped one survivor out of the game, and it's the only kill + hooks they got. They got 3/12 hooks, or 25% of hooks needed to "completely win" the game or get max points. But they end up getting more MMR points than I do? When ultimately I was 42% above them in hook rate and completion towards hook objective? By standing there and/or getting an easy down?

This doesn't really sit right with me. If I were to look at this gameplay side by side, even if I didn't know how DBD worked. I would say "one guy seems to be doing a lot, and the other is just standing there, or just focusing the easy kill. The guy that's doing a lot seems to know what they're actually doing." While I'm not really against anyone that camps/tunnels as a strategy, I think we can all agree that it's a lot easier to do that (especially with a killer like Bubba or Trickster) rather than actually playing the game without the camping/tunneling.

Secondly, I wish there was a way to change MMR similar to League of Legend's MMR system. I don't know all the ins and outs of how it works as I don't play it as competitively as DBD. From what I understand/think you gain MMR points or lose MMR points completely on YOUR performance.

    • Meaning if you perform well, and your end game stats are high, you'll gain more if you win the game, or lose less if you lose the game. Sometimes the game will even completely save you the loss of your MMR points even if you lose if there was a DC, someone purposely losing the game on your side, or you simply did that good and outshined the rest of your team.
    • If you perform badly, you'll lose more if you lose the game, and win less if you win the game.

I know most games with a competitive mode aren't like this. Most of them are based on an overall win/lose system. But DBD has a lot more complexities than most games. League of Legends also has really complex gameplay wise as well, which is probably why they implemented their personalized MMR system.

P.S. My first point goes along with survivor sides as well. I disagree that someone that looped a killer for many gens and ultimately dies in the end gets less points than someone who hides in lockers the whole game and ultimately ends up escaping.

  • It's alright. As soon as I hear the first note of the 32m terror radius music of someone like Oni, Nemesis, or Doctor I get excited and I'm like

    Trickster?!?

But then I get sad when I hear the music past the first note.

But nothing excites me more than when I hear that first deep humming note of Trickster's lullaby and I know it's him. My incoherent squealing among my swf is a clear signal that I'm going to throw the game to build my husband a shrine of items in the basement and do nothing but simp the whole match 😌.

  • Survivor: Feng, sometimes I play Scoops Steve or Claire just for meme purposes.

    Killer: Trickster 🤤

  • I decided I wanted to cosplay DBD for a 2020 convention I planned on going to. Then covid hit and it ended up being cancelled. I had a full Pig cosplay ready but I ended up just wearing it to the grocery store for Halloween.

    IMG_20201031_214253.jpg

Afterwards I didn't really like how the cosplay felt. It was really hard to breathe in the mask especially with a face mask on underneath. So I decided that I wanted to cosplay Pyramid Head, but a hot version with tall heels.

Then March 2021 came and Trickster was released. With my name explaining it all, I simply had to cosplay my ultimate main. Took me 7 months to make it.

    PXL_20211031_035442675.PORTRAIT-01.jpeg

I also met a friendly Trapper there whose cosplay looked amazing! So I think you'd definitely be able to pull it off if you decided to cosplay him.

You guys must not play as killer too often, getting kills as The Trickster is too easy since he got buffed, a nerf is needed, it's pretty skilless.

To be honest i am sick and tired of the Trickster.

I think he isjust to overedpowered you. cant escape at al due to his throwing action.

Am i just the only one who thinks this?

    Greetings Niek065

He's the most balanced right now that he's ever been. If anything he needs his movement speed buffed to a 115% killer.

Trickster is a very black and white killer. Either you're going to get stomped on by him or he's going to be bullied. There's rarely ever any balanced gameplay with him. He's also pretty map reliant and has weak map pressure and gen control. If you've got a more open map he's going to dominate more, and if you have one with high structures and lots of corners, he's going to struggle. And I'd even argue that he takes the most skill, or I guess thought process, out of most killers. Why? Let me explain.

    1. You need to have some sort of concept of aim with him. Even though he has spread and handedness in his gameplay, if you're used to playing FPS games you're accustomed to adjusting your joystick/mouse movement to getting better shots with recoil, and adjusting your distance to decrease the spread.
    2. You need to have a heavy understanding of balancing his power in all kinds of situations. What I mean by this is that personally I've memorized every structure in every map and what the best "movement" and power usage is best within the structure. What structures are better for trying to land an m1? What structures do I purely rely on my power for? What structures do I need to zone the survivors away from? What structures need both power usage and m1 attacks? Sure, other killers require a balance of power usage as well but it's not needed as much as Trickster.
    3. Because of his lack of movement speed and his LoS weakness, he's just simply one of the more difficult killers to play. Especially in high MMR against survivors that know what they're doing. Zoning is a must in high MMR. And taking too long to get a down with Trickster is almost a guaranteed loss because he's not strong enough to be able to catch back up most of the time unlike other killers.
    4. He's not a spam killer. They fixed this when they changed his knife count from 60 to 44. If you spam with Trickster with 44 knives without seriously trying to aim and without a throwing speed add on you might get an injured status. Might. Before the faster survivor makes it to a safe location away from you or you run out of knives.

Even though I'm purely a Trickster one-trick on my account, sometimes my brother will play DBD and I'll play killer on his account just for fun as he watches me. I'm so accustomed to being "perfect" in judgement with Trickster that playing any other killer on his account feels like a breeze. Even when I play killers that are also considered weaker. This lets me know how difficult Trickster is to play in high MMR compared to other killers. He's just only strong enough to be able to perform well in high MMR in the right hands.

A lot of the problems Trickster has would be an easy fix with his 115% movement speed buff in my opinion and I've been a strong advocate for it since he's been released.

  • I agree. Their difficulty rating for Trickster (who I main) is considered "easy" when he's actually one of the more difficult killers to perform well with.

  • I'm not a POC, so I really shouldn't be speaking on an issue where I'm least effected by. But yes, they should be removed. I'm 100% listening to the awful and horrendous experiences that POC have had regarding the Bubba mask's and targeted hate. As the first commenter said, just because I don't experience it doesn't mean it's not happening. In fact, a lot of POC hesitate to speak up because they get met with a lot more hate towards their opinion of it and are called even more awful things.

I understand the side that Bubba, when taken away from the gaming realm and is just discussed as a character, would not care what color a person is when he's killing. But in the gaming community where unfortunately there's a lot of targeted and purposeful hate, it shouldn't stay to give those people even more ammo to use to hurt someone just for the color of their skin.

  • Haven't been playing much the past 2 months simply because I've been busy with work and taking a lot of shifts to save up for car repairs. I honestly miss playing as much as I did though, especially having fun with my SWF.

I don’t think it’s exactly true, but I do at the same time. My last thread about Spirit was supposed to be encouraging people to play her and it blew up. It mainly blew up because someone was trying to claim I was annoying for my Spirit threads and a few people were defending me against them.

I think what I’m trying to say is, even positive threads can get publicity, but people like drama so much that they’ll find something to make it a negative discussion, which will in turn give it a better chance to get publicity. It’s very sad that the forums are like that.

If you're annoying for your Spirit threads then I'm definitely annoying when it comes to my Trickster threads. Honestly surprised I haven't gotten the same sort of "annoying" label yet for how much I talk and talk about Trickster.

But for real, keep talking about Spirit. Who cares if it causes some distaste? I personally love seeing others talk about their dedicated mains <3

  • My survivor MMR isn't the highest so I can't really give advice on that.

Killer wise? Figure out a killer that fits your playstyle the best. Do you typically play FPS games? Maybe look into Trickster or Deathslinger. So on and so forth. Then honestly just keep playing. You're going to get bullied over and over again, but honestly it's the best way to get better. Also watching people play who know what they're doing can help, and you can implement tactics and mindgames that they use into your own playstyle. Once you get better with killer, you automatically get better with survivor because you learn survivor movements. Your MMR will increase with time, and you won't really notice it for a while until you look back and see the improvement you made.

  • Survivor: Spine Chill, Boon: Circle of Healing, Sprint Burst, and Alert. My survivor build rarely changes, and I only really changed Self Care to the healing boon.

Killer: Ruin, Undying, BBQ, Discordance. My killer build has changed a bit since I decided to one-trick Trickster. I had to adjust it to try and make up for the lack of map pressure that he comes with and more gen control.

  • I personally don't use it in my survivor build and I don't think I ever will. But it would be nice when I play killer and I'm able to capitalize a bit more on when the survivor makes a mistake without them hitting the undo button.

  • My best guess is that the average age range is 20-30s.

I have 2 SWFs I typically play with. My main SWF ages are 22 (me), 22, 19, and 45.

My secondary SWF is all in their 20s I believe.

I used to play a lot with someone who was 31.

Based off other people I know who play DBD, and TTV's I've seen, they all seem to be in their 20-30s as well.

  • As toxic as some of the community can be, the drastic increase of hackers, and MMR being implemented filling the killer role with a lot more pressure than before — this is still probably my favorite game to play both alone and with friends. I don't think I've ever seriously gotten frustrated at the game. Sure there are annoying things, but honestly that's with any game and any community.

  • crying in Trickster lover

    But understandable.

  • I definitely experience this as well when I bring iridescent photocard on Trickster. But it's just funny to watch people get mad about it.

It's all fun and games until the Trickster brings iridescent photocard and he becomes quite a larger threat than people expect out of a weaker killer.

  • Sorry, but I do this all the time on both sides. Any Trickster is an automatic attempt to get them to be nice to me, which works 98% of the time especially because of my name. But if I'm playing killer and a survivor is either nice to me, drops their item for me, or just makes me laugh I'll typically let them go. Or if their name is also Trickster related (since I'm a Trickster one-trick).

Sometimes people take this game too seriously and get really upset about it. If I'm survivor and the killer is being nice to me I'm not going to sandbag or sabotage my teammates in any way really. I'll even unhook and heal them. But I'll just mind my business and make a cute item pile in the basement for all my Tricksters <3

It's a good thing to just have fun sometimes. It's not always about winning all the time.

  • I try my best not to tunnel — sometimes this causes my downfall in a game and I'll end up with 1 or no kills, but everyone will be on their last hook stage. So around 8. At first it sucks, but I remember a DBD meme that said "if everyone escapes on last hook stage you're not a bad killer you just wanted everyone to have fun and didn't tunnel" and it instantly makes me feel better.

Ok, watching the clips more closely I noticed something:

In OP’s post, in their second video (the one on groaning storehouse), as he begins to vault the window, the survivors get off the gen and you can actually hear the noise it makes when a gen begins regressing - meaning it’s working normal there.

HOWEVER, while they’re chasing around main building, undying goes down, and that’s when it stops regressing. So I think the bug is that if Ruin is cleansed, the generators stop regressing (which is normal behavior without undying), except in this case, undying protects the hex and moves it to its totem. When this happens, however, the game doesn’t “detect” properly that ruin is still active and doesn’t begin regressing that generator again even though it should.

So, if I’m right, in order to reproduce this you’d need to bring ruin/undying and hope you get lucky with cleansing ruin’s totem first, because if undying is cleansed directly I don’t think the bug will occur.

Yeah I definitely agree that that's the case. As you said before the ruin will only reactivate when a survivor touches it, but it definitely saves any lost progress that could've happened on gens. Usually my presence alone allows me to have a strong area control with Trickster along with ruin, so this bug is a pain in the ass for me because it completely counters the way I use ruin and Trickster together.

  • Haven't played against her yet either. If I weren't a one-trick, I would definitely be playing her myself.

1 on 1 he will not leave a chance

Will put you on the ground like a bubba since he can continue to throw daggers further even after dealing damage

Realistically there's hardly ever a situation where you get a clean injured to down health state without having to reset Showstopper. The only situations that this happens are when a survivor is caught in the open with no loops nearby or they decide to use a low wall loop against him.

Plus the speed boost you get from getting injured from Showstopper is enough to give you a lead on him to a loop or a wall 90% of the time. Hell, even just simply making distance when you get injured is enough to give you some time because his power becomes very unreliable when used from afar.

  • I'm assuming you came and made a forum account right after facing a Trickster that destroyed the survivors?

I've said this before and I'll say it again as many times as I need to. He's as balanced right now as he ever was. He's far from OP. The only situations he's OP in are ones that the survivors choose to put themselves in (i.e. unhooking in front of him, taking him to short/small loops, etc). Every single map has an area that Trickster can do little to nothing in. If you're having trouble going up against him, figure out those areas in those specific realms and abuse them against him. Best thing you can do.

If anything he needs a buff. More preferably being a 115% killer. The amount of time that a survivor can waste against Trickster by holding W and running around a tall wall loop is ridiculous.

  • @Trickstaaaaa said:

Maybe she crouched naw? It kind of looks like it to me, unless I'm blind. She could have been looking sideways.

She did crouch behind the rock, but there's a dot above her head and above the rock that tells me she's there. It's kind of hard to see in the video but the dot follows above her head while she's walking towards the rock. Kind of reminds me of a sims plumbob tbh 😂 My brother who knows a little bit about this sort of stuff said it seems like something with the engine that identifies a player that didn't get entirely patched out.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    interesting

Yeah it's definitely weird. Next time I get on I was gonna use an offering back to Dead Dawg to see if it happens again and if it's map related

  • Trickster is especially strong against survivors that are too altruistic. If you unhook while he's still in the area, he's going to be able to capitalize on it very easily. While I personally don't agree with the camping, it's just facts. There are multiple killers in fact that have kits that benefit from camping, such as Cannibal or Pyramid Head. Trickster just so happens to be one of those killers.

Despite this, I disagree that he needs a nerf. He's already on the weaker side, and right now he's the most balanced he's ever been.

Any Trickster player that sprays and prays is actually a good thing for survivors. Chances are he's only gonna have enough knives to last him one chase, and then he'll need to reload (depending on his add ons). This makes him especially easy to counter because of the time that takes to find and reload at a locker. Especially in large maps. You should be more afraid of the ones that know how to aim with him.

Lastly, RPD is one of Trickster's weakest maps. I would say his 2nd to most weak map. So using the map to support your argument doesn't make sense. I understand the fact that the map is confusing to navigate, but it's just as confusing for killers as it is for survivors unless you know the map from RE.

TL/DR: Don't be too altruistic against Trickster, he doesn't need a nerf, spray and pray is actually a good thing for survivors, RPD is weak for Trickster sooo...

  • I agree. I've always said the power should be able to be held like Oni's power. You would get more value out of it this way when survivors are out in the open and/or unhooking.

  • I agree, I hardly see hex perks in killer's builds anymore. What's even worse is that Ruin + Undying combo has a huge bug right now that causes it to do the complete opposite of what you want it to do (Undying being cleansed will disable your Ruin and your ability to kick gens on all gens that have progress on them). Makes running Ruin even worse, killing Hex perks even more.

  • 🤨 I'm gonna put my personal views aside as best as I can for this, but personally I would enjoy any free cosmetic for anyone despite what they looked like beforehand.

  • Had another instance today where this happened and threw the game to get the concrete proof of it, that it isn't just a visual glitch. It does not just happen on Ormond and it will happen on generators that are decently completed. I think it has something to do with the Ruin + Undying combination and after Undying gets cleansed. Imagine how many times this is actually happening behind killer's backs and they don't realize it? Why aren't more people talking about this? (Or maybe people have... I haven't been active on the forums since I first made this post)

YES i want him 115ms!!!!!!!!!! really I think that would help tons but some people thinks it be and unbalanced sigh he needs it, why should people like pp head who has a move that can hit multi survivors and through walls be any dif or neme with zombies to help with his whip that is instant pallet break and fast vault/pallet punishes and they get 115 ms? lord.

I agree 100%. I don't understand why someone with a ton of mobility such as Freddy, Blight, or Wraith can be 115%, or Cannibal can be 115% and can insta down you at that same movement speed. They should still have him slow down when he's using his knives, but 115% when using his knives isn't a viable method because he has no form of mobility to cause it to be OP.

  • Trickster is as balanced right now as he ever was. Still on the weaker side. He's one of the killers that is super strong in the right hands, but otherwise is a weak killer to those who are new to him and don't have much practice with him. As long as you understand his power, he's very easy to loop. And as others said, most people are playing him just because of the tome right now. Before the tome, you would only see Trickster players who played him because they genuinely were good at him and/or liked him.

Also if you think he's broken with his regular add ons you obviously haven't gone up against an iridescent photocard Tricky. Way more powerful than regular Trickster.

Point aside, they just need to make him a 115% killer.

  • Just so happened to get Ormond again in the next match and it happened again. Here's another video of it, it does the sparks FX but no regression. Couldn't test and see if it was all the gens again, as Ruin popped soon after.

    https://youtu.be/yNmeG9OCrxw

  • I know this is kind of off topic, but I've also been struggling with Boon totem survivors in a different way. I usually carry BBQ in my build, and sometimes I can't see any auras at all but a far gen will still pop seconds after. Or sometimes survivors heal ridiculously fast right after getting unhooked.

I know we've had an increase of exploiters that can do sneaky cheating like this (hiding auras, increased healing speed, etc). I feel like this gives them a perfect cover up. Sometimes it's hard to believe all the survivors can be hidden from me and BBQ but again the range of the boons are pretty large. Same with the really fast healing speed. So a lot of matches I'm left to wonder — are they sneaky exploiting or is it a boon?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It could still be regressing, but just missing sparks fx. Kind of hard to say, since your video is only 17 seconds long and we can't see the amount of progress it had before the chase.

Here's another clip of the same chase before I downed her when I walked by the gen. It still sounded the same. Even if she tapped it, it should've regressed back to 0 since there was hardly any progress on it.

    1. Trickster (DBD) - I always said since I started the game I wanted a normal looking/attractive killer in the game. Love the fact that he reinforces and challenges the thought of "beauty ≠ innocent".

    2. Monika (Doki Doki Literature Club) - My favorite single player game. Huge fan of psychological horror and I love how intelligent and sociopathic Monika is. Also love the 4th wall breaking.

    3. Pyramid Head (Silent Hill) - One of my favorite horror characters since I was a little girl. Always viewed him as badass and he plays into psychological horror that I love.
