  • I guess I'm lucky that Trickster is the least effected one by this. Even if someone ate my knives with DH to protect someone it would only be a 1-2 delay to their inevitable death. There's a couple situations I can still see this being a huge problem to Trickster though but a lot less likely to happen.

The other killers however? Definitely a lot more detrimental to the flow and pace of the game. It's very interruptive to their powers. Not sure if the hit validation was intended to work this way but I think it should definitely be looked at.

  • Indoor maps are my favorite. Hawkins, Midwich, Lerys, Game. Only exception to that is Dead Dawg Saloon, which is another one of my favorite maps.

Only indoor map I don't like is RPD.

  • I personally think Trickster is as balanced as he's going to be at the moment. I don't really have too many complaints with him anymore, but this is my killer sided opinion. It's hard to give my survivor sided opinion — because 98% of Tricksters I go up against are nice to me. I've only seriously played against 1-2 Tricksters who either didn't know how to be nice or didn't want to. Easy to loop in those situations — but that's given I understand exactly how he works.

In the situations that me and a Trickster are being friendly to one another, most of the time he completely shreds the rest of the survivors. Is it because there's one survivor (me) that's building a collection of items for the Trickster in killer shack and not really helping except for getting unhooks? Maybe.

I agree 100% with @Vampwire though. "I really think BHVR just wanted to push out a K-pop killer for traction. After all K-pop is one of the biggest industries rn.". I still ended up loving him though (even though I know little to nothing about kpop), so I guess the ploy worked in some ways.

I’ve played a lot of matches since yesterdays update and this never happened to me. Please let’s not exaggerate again and pretend to not understand this system.

The Claudette in the video used dead hard before the hit connected and the server validated it. It’s simple.

"I'd like to note before someone comments that I'm not saying that the dead hard hit validation was a bad change. I'm glad now that it'll actually "dodge" the hit and that I don't get stuck in full swing CD animation"

This post isn't to dog on the changes. Nor to exaggerate anything. This is just informing people on how it's going to look from the killer side and more so being annoyed that they haven't fixed the "appearance" of landing a hit. I understand the changes that they made which I stated multiple times is a good thing that the perk works like intended. Moreso frustrated that you can't really trust the sound of the scream and appearance of the blood, you have to look at the icons to make sure someone's downed.

True but tbf you had Trickster's knives to get that down. A M1 in you exact position would of had to deal with that next pallet. Honestly I'm surprised it even gave you the hit at the pallet right at the beginning of clip. Luckily I have been playing a lot of Trickster myself lately so won't bother me quite as bad as it did with Trapper last night.

That's a very true point. If I were out of knives for example the chase probably would've extended a lot longer. And yeah that first hit was a risk, was honestly expecting the pallet stun validation to possibly happen but I also would've been mad if it did because I landed the hit before the pallet dropped haha

  • Crying at the first couple of responses, but understandable 😔

Personally I used to hate going up against Huntress but recently my opinion has changed. I would say Cannibal is now my top hated going up against. I personally suck at countering him.

Hey!!!!!!!!! I had a game with you a few days ago as another Leon, good game there btw 😜not sure if you remember TatsumaruBeoluve, love love love my trickster killer mains. He is just dad.

That name does sound familiar! Definitely a good game! And yeah for sure, Tricky is definitely a whole dad 🤤

I swear did you just reach into your monitor and pull that out of the game? That looks so realistic! In time for halloween as well!

Ahh omg that's such a huge compliment! Thank you 😭! Definitely in time for Halloween as I plan to be Trickster for a Halloween convention this upcoming weekend and on Halloween itself. Just yesterday I picked up my yellow contacts that glow under black light so it's gonna be awesome.

Ya, totally Dead hard isn't used as a freebie to fix survivors mistakes. Nope not at all. Doesn't give them a free second chance to reset a chase. Nope.

I guess it depends on how the dead hard was used. If it's used to gain distance I don't really have a problem with it as it's used "smarter" in my opinion. But it is frustrating when the survivor makes a blatant mistake (vaulting towards me, taking a wrong turn, getting mindgamed, etc) and them being able to undo their mistake. You know you outplayed them but they technically get a second chance. But unless they have vaults/pallets nearby the chase will still end fairly quickly. The couple of spare seconds however could make or break a match. But on the other hand you can always wait out a DH easily in most situations.

I guess I'm pretty in the middle about the health of DH in the game.

It just sucks when you can't trust your eyes, because both sides see something different.

Problem is that to the killer, that 1 "mistake" that I can't really affect can easily lose a game.

Thing is, I can say to survivors DH sooner, or drop pallets sooner, but I can't really change this as a killer. Oh, he will get to a pallet -> I have to M1, you just can't do it later, unless you want to respect pallet like crazy and lose time anyway.

I also agree with this. It's gonna be like the pallet stun validation which I've gotten used to for the most part now. Gonna take a while to get used to this again. I am worried about hits not landing that typically would land before the hit validation and seeing how this will effect my games. I truly don't know how many times I've been lucky to hit through a DH in my normal gameplay so I guess I'll see how it effects my kill rate. While this is a good change, and the perk now works how it's supposed to, it's an indirect small nerf to killers.

I mean, while it is true that most Killers are boosted, it is not that hard to get the Mindset that it was not meant to hit due to Dead Hard and just move on. DH is still the strongest when used for Distance (a thing people complained about, but now they dont complain about anymore, they complain about it working properly... ). And many DHs, which will be used to dodge a Hit will get validated, but do exactly nothing, since those are often bad Dead Hards which will extend the chase by 1 second.

Yeah I agree with this. While the DH hit validation took me a second to realize I didn't down her the chase only lasted a couple more seconds like any normal DH would typically do. I was very ahead of the game in this clip so the couple of seconds didn't effect the outcome of the match for me anyway.

  • EDIT 10/26: I noticed that this bug is still happening in patch 5.3.1 and I'll be updating my Trickster guide to note the issue.

    Can i buy it?

I couldn't sell my husband's weapon, I love it too much <3 but the offer is very flattering and means a lot, I guess it means I did something right haha!

This is so beautiful, and inspiring to a fellow crafty!

Ah thank you!! All I have left to do in my cosplay is to make my pants a bit dirty with some makeup and my Trickster cosplay will be complete! :)

  • Still happening here for me as well. Just hopped on and first match it took around 10 minutes to boot out of the loading screen. Not wanting to get a penalty I waited the entire time. In the middle of waiting for another match as I type this that seems to be yet again suspiciously long waiting time, so I'm guessing I'll be sitting here for another 10 minutes.

  • Same here. Got booted out of my match because I can never remember about Steam's Tuesday update. Now I can't get back in even after Steam is back up.

  • The noise that Trickster's bat makes after hitting a survivor, similar to a light saber.

A close second is the audio noise that happens when Victor releases from Charlotte.

  • @slendermansmoom said:

damnnnnnnnn that's cool how long did that take to make/ how expensive was it

I started working on it the 29th of March! I would say the bat alone costed around ≈$70 to make but some of the materials like the paint I already had beforehand :)

  • @glitchboi said:

Whoa, it looks dope! Gl on your cosplay, I can already tell it'll be awesome.

Ahh thank you!! I'm hoping so I've only done one full try on but it was super early in the process 😂

Great job! Looking forward to seeing the whole look when you post it <3

Thank you so much! 💕 I can't wait either! I'm hoping to get photos done right before Halloween :)

  • I think it does, which is probably intentional. As soon as I hear the first note of his lullaby I immediately stop what I'm doing and I look around for him to try and make friends. But he's always so hard to find, even intentionally doing so, just based off his lullaby.

  • @Brokenbones said:

Give your husband his weapon back, he's in a trial right now with only his knives and he's suffering

    Jokes aside, really well done!

Ahaha thank youuu! He's probably used to my shenanigans by now 🤣 only his wife would strut down the street in heels with his bat

  • @Rizzo said:

    That looks amazing!

Ah thank you so much! I can't wait to put it all together as well!

  • Favorite thing: Trickster (obviously) and just how fun the gameplay is

Least favorite thing: Probably the small portion of the community that is super toxic. With other games, usually they'll insult you according to gameplay and rarely does it ever get "personal". I've noticed with DBD that if someone is going to be toxic, it's a lot more common that it's going to be personal to purposely try and inflict some sort of hurt emotion more. Not only will they insult your gameplay, but they'll be homophobic, racist, sexist, or insult your looks, personality, likes, etc.

  • Ruin is the only gen regression perk I use. But I use Corrupt Intervention and Discordance as gen control perks. I just replaced Starstruck with Corrupt as I was getting frustrated at gen speeds, so now they've been a lot better since I adjusted my build a bit that allows me to get ahead of the game.

  • Honestly wasn't expecting Negan to be the #1 answer because everyone I talk to hates him. But I love charismatic villains with an awesome personality/anti heroes. So I'd love to see him in the game.

  • Toxic in my book is anything that's being done that doesn't benefit the gameplay in anyway. Things such as letting all the slugged survivors bleed out, flashlight spamming, teabagging, spamming over pallets/lockers or toxic end game chat.

Also I think I might know you, if we've played on Overwatch before cause you have the same gamertag but if not then ignore me 😂

  • I play both survivor and killer. Survivor when I'm looking for more relaxed gameplay, and killer when I feel like playing something more intense. I plan on getting to Iridescent I grade on both survivor and killer (right now I'm on 3 for the both of them). Even if there's tough games on my killer side, I always look forward to learning new kinds of mindgames and using harder matches as a learning experience :) I haven't played with my SWF for a while — so I'm hoping to get something set up soon with them.

  • I have a small list of tips that I sent my best friend on discord when she first started playing DBD and killer so I'll put them here too :)

  • I have a lot of noises that are really satisfying to me.

Doctor's shock therapy (the deep bass of the electricity) and his laugh

Pyramid Head's sword being dragged on the ground

The sound when Victor gets released from Charlotte

Trickster's light saber-y noises from his m1 attacks, the clinking of the knife hits, his lullaby and the laceration meter scream

Pinhead's chain portal hum, and the girl humming tune that plays when he picks up his own lament configuration

  • If a banning system were to go live I would never be able to play Trickster again tbh since survivors are definitely not fans of facing him.

Also referring back to the first comment, when has Overwatch ever had a banning system? I would love to take Doomfist straight out of the game if possible lmao. But maybe you're thinking of something like LoL where they have a champion banning system but they have 157 different champions to play versus the 25 killers we have.

  • I think I posted these in a similar thread but here's some pretty screenshots I took of my current Trickster skin combo :)

    3.JPG 4.JPG 5.JPG 7.JPG 8.JPG 9.JPG

  • I really wish you could hold it like Onis power, it would make it so much more viable to use and allow it to be a game changer when used at the right time.

  • From one Trickster main to another, I think this is a pretty solid build!

I didn't really think about the movement speed boost Devour gives you that makes him a 115% killer (like he should be). But I think it's a really clever idea :)

I used to be a big fan of caged heart shoes but I find myself using it less and less. I still think it's a solid add on though!

  • When I play killer, it depends on the situation.

If there's 1 early DC, I'll continue playing like normal but not try as hard. Unless the survivors give up and want to be nice to me. I'm always up for a game of farming.

If there's 2+ early DCs, I immediately stop playing seriously and farm/meme around with them. Survivors seem really appreciative of this, and I haven't gotten a single lobby that accused me of taking the game hostage when this happens.

  • If I notice a survivor goes to second hook, and I find them relatively quick again since they've been unhooked I'll try and leave them alone. Either by just completely walking away or if they're still injured I'll just leave them down. Depending on how the game is going I'll do this maybe even multiple times. Sometimes I'll even pre-decide to leave them for last to give them hatch. If I'm falling behind I'll slug them once and then hook the next time I find them.

I probably play killer way too fair. But idk, since I play survivor too I understand the frustration behind losing a hook stage.

  • The map is beautiful, but I definitely agree it's hard to play on especially on the killer side. Especially with the statement regarding 110% killers. I one-trick Trickster and I've gotten that map I think around 3 times now with him?

I run Discordance on him and it's very common for it to notify me as soon as the match starts of 2+ survivors on a gen since they typically spawn by one together — and usually it'll be one of the farthest gens.

If I'm across the map on RPD and I'm running towards the discordanced gen with Trickster's 110% movement speed, even if I take the fastest way there and manage to not get lost — there have been multiple times the gen pops before I can even get there. Just purely because of the distance/weird layout and Trickster being 110%.

  • I see this with Trickster as well. Fizz-spin soda is probably his best add on. But I get a lot more melodious murders, bloody boas, trick blades and iridescent photocards — which are all still good add ons but fizz spin honestly just makes Tricky feel a lot more smooth to play and downs people a lot faster.

  • Wholesome with a side of toxic dicks.

  • Today specifically I'm getting the best RNG I can get with my boy Tricky. Consistent Hawkins, Lerys, smaller maps. But on other days, sometimes the RNG is terrible and I get some of the worst maps for him.

  • As much as I love Chucky and Tiffany from Child's Play, I just feel like Jason is a much better fit to the game. I also feel like dealing with Chucky or Tiff would be kind of like a Victor situation (unless they used the human Charles/Tiffany or a combo like Twins). Jason's kit would be a lot more fun I feel to go up against.

  • When I first started playing the game I was definitely a survivor main. I did play some killer but I found it really frustrating because I was consistently getting toxic players. Nothing really pushed me to play killer other than just wanting to improve both my killer skill and in turn it improved my survivor skill. I'm definitely a better killer than survivor now, but I would say I'm a decent survivor at least.

  • Had a toxic Nea and Feng duo recently who were looking to bully me as Trickster, clearly underestimating me since he's a weak killer. Teabagging at predropped pallets, flashlight spamming, emoting, going in and out of lockers. Wasn't Trickster's best map either (The Game)

Needless to say I'm glad I brought a Mori. I usually don't bring moris to be toxic but just because I love Tricksters Mori so damn much and I usually won't Mori all 4 survivors anyway. The most satisfying Mori on Nea and Feng disconnected on hook so I wouldn't be able to Mori her. I also included smacking them on hook and throwing a couple knives at them on hook.

They only got 1 gen done before I 4k'd.

  • head empty no thoughts only hubby 😌

But yeah, he's the most fun to go up against. 95% of the time I'm nice to Tricksters and they're nice to me back which is a different type of fun. But in the rare cases they aren't I know the ins and outs of how Trickster works so it's fun being on the receiving end of what I play.

  • Scary Movie is a very close second though.

  • I like how adepts work now. It's like a badge to show that you know what you're doing with a certain killer and you don't need to rely on certain perks. I was so ecstatic when I got my Trickster adept thinking it was going to be a lot harder than it ended up being for me.

  • 🗣️no

I love Trickster too much and I'm not afraid to admit it.
