  • Putting aside all my simping behavior for Trickster — I feel like he's definitely the easiest to "counter" if I had to face him in a real trial. You could easy use the walls to your advantage, or if we're talking outside of what's possible in the game I would probably find a wooden board or piece of scrap metal to use as a shield against his knives.

But also once he ran out of knives he would have to go and pick them all back up again. And even if it was like the game and he reloaded at lockers he would have to grab them and put them in his pocket or wherever he stores them which takes time.

Another thing is that I feel like he'd be too cocky to really kill all 4 survivors. He's definitely not the type to just kill as fast as he can. He'd probably want to take his time with each survivor and kill them slowly, just based off his lore, and that would leave me enough time to get out of dodge.

  • I used to be a Pyramid Head, Doctor, and Piggy main.

I now main/one-trick Trickster. I dropped every killer for him

The problem for me is that this already messed with my head. I am never sure if they are down or not.

I need to poke em to be sure even if they are still laying down.

Yeah I know that technically the hit validation is working as it should but I wish they'd remove the audio and blood effect. It messes with my head and I immediately "relax" because I think a chase is over but it's not. Even when it only takes me a split second to realize the bug happened it puts me behind in chases a lot.

  • I get heat all the time for playing Trickster as well — especially when I destroy them.

  • Just had a match that the survivors got mad at me for slugging but the only reason why I did was so I didn't tunnel them since I hooked them last and drew out their teammate that stayed super immersed without helping them lmao

Trickster has too much downtime time which makes him incapable incapable of dealing with 4v1. Biggest example being that you can only activate Main Event once before being forced to reload and there isn't always a chance to make good use out of Main Event.

His mobility is garbage, you slow down so much to throw knives that you're faster being a 110% M1 killer.

He sucks so much in so manny loops that using knifes is detrimental to 1v1 and 4v1.

I might be reading this wrong but Main Event doesn't deplete your knives you were carrying before. If the timing is in your favor, you can actually use main event at 0 knives and potentially get a free down. Or you can use it at max knives.

I don't know why you think his knives are detrimental to him in loops. I would say a good 80% of loops are in his favor because they're short enough (either in height or length) to take a health state or possibly both with knives easy and fast. Even in loops with high walls if you can m1 mind game it's another easy kill. Being out in the open is also a guaranteed down.

Trickster was very obviously meant to be a popular money-making killer. He's rated easy, has a familiar power lifted from a killer that statistically is the second most played, (Huntress) and had a whole bunch of marketing and such related to his K-Pop background. Look at the marketing for Trickster compared to Twins. He also gets skins every other patch, and has gotten about four balance updates, each with the intent of making him stronger. He was probably meant to be the next Huntress but paid, like how Blight was the next Billy, except this time they didn't nerf Huntress as well because of the devs being Huntress mains.

Unfortunately, since Trickster's power concept is intrinsically flawed because they tried to pull off old Legion again for whatever reason, he can and will never be strong. BHVR don't seem to realise this. I think somebody at BHVR is probably scratching their head, looking at pitiful kill and pick rates for Trickster and wondering what went wrong.

I agree with this. I think that the whole "hot kpop killer go brr" was meant to make them a lot of money knowing how many people are diehard fans of the kpop culture.

Even knowing this, I fell right into the trap happily. I fell in love with everything about him both his aesthetic and his abilities. I couldn't tell you a thing about kpop however.

I enjoy his low pick and kill rate selfishly if I'm being honest. It makes me feel good knowing I can play a weak killer well even in high MMR and have a real shot at becoming a high tier if not the best Trickster player. It's satisfying going into a match and knowing I'll be underestimated just to perform well.

  • I'll always try to go for the save. I'm less likely to do it when I'm soloing but when I'm playing with my SWF I don't want them to die. It's also pretty funny when all of us are screaming and laughing our asses off when we're trading off and on trying to save each other. We don't really care about winning, or if the camping/tunneling is "toxic".

I'm also the super altruistic one in my SWF so I'm always going for flashlight saves and pallet saves. I'll unhook in front of a camping killer because I don't want my friend to die. I always give my life for my friends and I don't have a problem with it because it gives us a laugh. My best friend is also newer at the game so I try my best to make sure she escapes as much as possible even at the cost of my life so she can get more blood points and whatnot that I don't really need :)

pallets are working as they should, killers used to get free hits that they shouldnt, if i got you first than me and the stun, u shouldnt hit me, killers got used to a problem that gave them free hits wich was wrong, now is improved but sometimes looks honestly odd.

I do think killers got a lot of weird hits through pallets beforehand. But sometimes when I'm playing killer and I get the sound of downing someone/injuring someone and they actually don't receive the effect I use my instant replay recording and I watch it back in slow motion. I would say a good 85% of the time I landed the hit before the pallet animation even started but the stun seems to "negate" the hit. It is pretty odd though and throws off my entire timing of the game tbh

  • For the most part before the rank reset I was getting balanced matches when I play killer. Sometimes there was a survivor or two in certain lobbies that I could tell were definitely newer and/or didn't know how Trickster worked.

My survivor matches have been way worse. Rarely I get lobbies of people who seem to know what they're doing. But most matches I'm left on hook to die because the rest of the team is hiding because they're too afraid to get me when the coast is clear.

After going back to Ash IV I noticed that my matches have been a lot easier. Consistent 4ks again and I'm put with people who definitely are way below my MMR. Maybe I was unlucky in my matches today but I even had one lobby with people with around ≈100 hours who definitely got crushed under the pressure I have with Trickster where I believe not even a single gen was completed. It feels like my MMR got reset along with the grade? Maybe that's the point just so it can recalculate where I belong but idk. I liked having the balanced lobbies I had before rank reset with people with 2k-5k hours.

  • When I first started playing the game I always thought that kicking the gen automatically instantly lost some of it's progress which I don't see why it doesn't. I hardly kick gens in unless I'm ahead of the game and feel confident that no one's around to tap it, and have some spare time to do so.

Regarding tapping gens I don't have a problem with it. In fact whenever I'm lagging badly while playing survivor I'll tap gens so I don't get a skill check and miss it due to lag but I'm contributing somewhat to it's progress.

  • I only play Trickster and have only played Trickster since he was released.

As for survivor I 98% of the time play Feng with her streamer skin. But rarely I'll play Claire as well because me and a close friend of mine like to match as Claire to laugh at the moaning when she's injured.

  • Also on PC and didn't get mine and was just wrapping up a killer game. It seems like people that were playing at the time of the reset crashed and never got their BP. And those who logged in after it happened got theirs.

I received mine, but still like i was surprised my rank got reseted

Yeah mine crashed before it even made it back to the lobby so I believe that I didn't receive the BP for grade reset and also for completing the match.

any word from a mod or anything? This is a sort of a big deal.

As far as I can see not yet. I've been looking around to see if I can get answers before I hop back on and play in case this wasn't meant to happen.

  • Same here. Happened to everyone it seems and most people didn't receive their bloodpoints either.

  • Was also playing on Ormond and as soon as it started going back to the lobby I also got the crash report. Reloaded the game and my Iridescent 1 Survivor and Killer grades are now Ash 4. I wanted to keep playing but in case this isn't just an early grade reset I'm gonna wait it out and see what happens until I hear anything.

  • It happened to everyone as far as I know including myself.

  • It's one of Trickster's best maps and I almost always do excellent on that map. So it's definitely killer sided for me playing Trickster.

When I play survivor on Midwich though I do notice that some killers struggle on the map. So it really depends on what killer is being played.

  • Trickster does have a smaller terror radius than other killers and the first thing you'll hear before the heartbeat is his lullaby but he should still have a heartbeat in a chase at least even if he had Monitor & Abuse so maybe this is a bug. I haven't gone up against a Trickster since the new SBMM so I'm not 100% sure.

  • Had 2 crossplay survivors who enjoyed watching my performance in my mori and decorated the body afterwards. We sat around the campfire and also purchased a couple of teddy bears at the Gas Heaven. Most wholesome beans I've ever been nice to. They also wanted to be mori'd at the end even though I wanted them to escape. GG Dwight and David ❤️

IMO if people weren't being juvenile with all the jokes it'd still be in the game

Man you didn't have to come after me like that

  • I'm personally a bit concerned about boon totems. I have to manage my time perfectly with Trickster since he already has such weak map pressure and I can't imagine trying to squeeze in looking for a boon totem on top of timing and managing everything else unless I'm already ahead of the game and have some spare time.

  • I already play like this and get consistent 2k+. But yes camping and tunneling are tactics if one wishes to use them.

  • Even though they removed the voicelines the amount of "You opened the box and I came" jokes I make on a daily basis even with things that have nothing with DBD is ungodly. My brother and best friend play DBD so they get the joke lmao

  • As someone who pretty frequently gets the unfortunate endgame face camp treatment (sometimes with noed) it really does suck on the receiving end. But I understand why some killers do it especially if I or someone else happened to run them for a long time. It's just personal playstyle preference.

Nah honestly that's really cool. I think you should totally go for it! As much as I don't like him, it's nice to see people wanna master certain killers.

I wanna be up there in the huntress category on console myself since she's more difficult on console.

    I don't think that's cringe :)

You should totally do it if you want to.

Ahh thank you both so much that means a lot 🥺 it's definitely been on my mind and it's really nice that the community has been so supportive about it already

  • If there's one DC, depending on when it happens I'll play more casually and decide that I'll let last person go through hatch.

If there's 2+ DCs I stop trying and I'm nice to the last ones and just let them get the escape.

I play survivor as well so I know how it is getting a early DC and the frustration associated with it.

  • This is probably cringy, but I want to become one of the best Trickster players. Decided upon his release I was going to play only him until the game dies because he's that much fun to me and I never dedicated myself to becoming an expert on a single killer. But it's hard for people to know my name and associate it with one of the best Trickster players if I'm not streaming or putting out videos of some sort so I'm thinking on becoming a DBD streamer to help with that :)

  • I play DBD the most "competitively". Meaning I actually try and learn the nooks and crannies of the game and actively get better — more specifically playing Trickster. But I still meme around a lot with survivors and let people out of hatch frequently. It's low-key kind of a dream to be a potential fog whisperer and/or considered one of the "best" Trickster players. Other games I play I don't care enough to actively try and improve my skill. But do I think there should be tournaments and whatnot? No. As others have stated above it's too RNG.

  • I know I'm probably taking some bait right now but this is one of my favorite games to play both solo and with my SWF. I've also met a lot of really sweet people through this game and I'm actually considering becoming a DBD streamer. Sometimes I've laughed the hardest when me and my SWF are losing terribly because we're all screaming and being loud and making jokes. So it's fun to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • It's inevitable that I'm going to get survivors every once in a while that know how to loop a Trickster well even in his best maps. While I do understand that part of this isn't my fault because Trickster is a weaker killer that still has a couple of flaws — sometimes survivors just know what loops to take me to that are very hard to get a down in and it's the risk I take with one-tricking Trickster.

Recently I've been getting a lot of glitches/bugs that have been impacting my games a lot more. It might be because I'm going up against a lot more experienced survivors with the SBMM so they know how to utilize it more (pallet hit validation bug, unable to pick survivors up by certain gens, etc). Had a survivor recently admit to using a bug to their advantage to prevent me from getting a kill which kind of sucked and I feel bad for saying "I didn't win this game because of these bugs!" but sometimes that's just the truth. But I can still admit when survivors loop me well.

  • It really depends on the killer played and the skill level of the killer. For example I'm terrible at looping a Huntress unless it's maybe her very first game. But when I've noticed I've been looping Pinheads for pretty long no matter the skill level. I can also run Tricksters for a long time simply because I know every nook and cranny of how he works. But more than likely I can loop long enough for at least 1 gen to pop.

  • He's good if you take time to practice with him and learn how he works in each map/every single loop to allow you to evaluate your outcomes of a chase and how you're going to go about using Showstopper. Personally he's been doing decent in high grade matches with the new SBMM. Of course there will be matches where you're put with people who know how to play against him and counter him well but that's with any killer.

  • It's still too early for me to have a solid opinion, but so far a lot of my matches have been well balanced when I'm playing killer. I've been getting around 2-3k average when I don't encounter the plethora of bugs/glitches I did today in most of my matches. Before SBMM I would get a lot of 3-4ks. I enjoy having more balanced games. The survivors I faced kept me on my toes. I expected to get absolutely demolished bringing Trickster into high tier grade matches but I'm pleasantly surprised by how balanced it's been.

  • I play both sides. I absolutely hate when I'm getting off the gen, and the notification sound happens right as I'm getting off and nothing pops up and it blows the gen and counts as a missed skill check. You would think the chances of this happening are slim and rare, but it literally happens to me maybe every other match.

I'm in queue to play my first match with SBMM right now so I'm curious to how it's going to go. I've seen people getting excellent games and some getting the worst they've gotten. I plan on keeping track of my first 5-10 games to compare my experience with others.

My first game went pretty well but I only ended up with 1k because of a glitch. The survivors I got had around 2k hours put into the game and were mostly iridescent rank but it was an even match and possibly a win until I ended up downing someone and a bug didn't allow me to pick them up by the generator which wasted a lot of my time. But I still did well enough to not depip and had the highest score in the lobby. Aside from the bug, a pretty even game I would say.

  • A win for me is either a 3k/4k — or a 0k/1k/2k but everyone who escaped was on death hook. I try my best not to tunnel so I don't beat myself up if I didn't get as many kills due to trying to make the game fun for everyone :)

  • Trickster would definitely have some sort of knife twirling trick. Fits the most to his lore and his time spent performing at his father's restaurant. But I would love for him to actually sing with an original song — or just an snippet of it. In LoL, they made a couple of music groups out of the playable characters and had singers be the "characters" to sing and make original songs as if the characters made them. Would love if they did this with Trickster and released a couple of songs while implementing the recorded screams and having him hum it in game.

  • I agree. And I don't mean it to be rude towards the DBD art team, because I'm a fellow artist myself and hopefully I'll be doing art as my career so I understand how it is. But I think on Twitter in July they were looking to commission artists to do some merch designs? I'm not sure where that ended up going. I applied because it's my job and I'm actively looking for commissions and I would love to design some merch for DBD but I never heard back. I'd love to see some people's artwork on merch, and something more creative than just an already made image placed in the middle of the shirt. They could put designs along the arms of hoodies, designs on the back, or even the entire piece of clothing being a design — sort of like a collage. There's a lot of ideas.

  • Bunny Fengs are either the most wholesome players or the most evil players there's no inbetween

  • I personally prefer Ruin. I one-trick Trickster and his slower movement speed doesn't allow me enough time to kick in gens often for Pop value. Sometimes I need my presence to be enough to have a gen start regressing while I choose to engage in a chase and/or control an area. It also gives me a lot of information as to the tracking of survivors, like if I'm approaching a gen and I don't see sparks with Ruin active I know a survivor is currently on it. Or if I see sparks from a distance I know a survivor just got off it or is probably in the area.

  • I would definitely buy Blight and give him a shot! It's true that most of those killers such as Trickster, Blight, Nurse, etc are typically labeled as harder to play on console, which I understand, but definitely not impossible to learn to use. I played a custom game with a PS4 Trickster player to help train them with Trickster and, while they weren't the best, I was still pleasantly surprised at their overall performance. So I think it's definitely possible with some time to excel at those killers :)

  • Putting aside that I'm a Trickster one-trick, I would say personally for me it would be Hillbilly. I've probably played him maybe 2-3 times and my blood points will never be spent on his bloodweb. He's the only level 1 killer I have on my roster right now. I find him incredibly hard to control and not fun to play and when I did play him it was mostly just m1 mind games just to get a down because I'm terrible at using him.

  • I'm kind of indifferent about the SBMM, if anything maybe a little bit wary when I put my Trickster abilities to the test. I've never really been a high rank in any of the video games I play but I would definitely say I play DBD the most "competitively" especially when it comes to playing Trickster since I've dedicated myself to one tricking him since his release and pretty much becoming an expert at him. I'm curious for the most part to see where I'm gonna place because I'd like to think that I'm a pretty high tier Trickster player — but sometimes I do have games where I don't 3k/4k either due to good survivors or because I'm messing around with the survivors. But I know a lot of people are worried about how weaker killers like Trickster are gonna mix into SBMM amongst Nurses, Spirits, Blights, etc. But I'm cautiously optimistic.

  • Some of my all time favorites and current favorites of all different genres..

    Da Vosk Docta - Gentrify

    Silent Child - F*ck You

    K. Flay - FML

    Jazmin Bean - Princess Castle

    Gizmo - Rampage

    Syko - #BrooklynBloodPop

It's not all of them but if I made a list of them all we'd be here forever lmao

  • Was a close call between Springtrap and Slenderman for me. But I ultimately decided to choose Springtrap because Slenderman already has his fair share of horror games that push him to the limits. I would like to see Springtrap reimagined in an atmosphere like DBD to be as gory and terrifying as he could be without abiding by PG-13 ratings.
