There has seem to be a lower amount of flash bangs recently that actually blind me. Before the patch even turning away from a flash bang would blind me sometimes. Maybe I turned towards the flash bang since my first instinct as killer is to turn and try to avoid a blind. But now when I turn away I'll get either a slight blind or muffled sound but I'll be saved for the most part. Again maybe it's coincidence and I was turning towards the flash bang beforehand but I'm not sure.

Damn am I proud of this Trickster player and commend them for their aim!
But anyway, this seems about normal. If you kept running straight around the corner I think he would've had a more difficult time downing you. But you were caught in a pretty slow animation which is all he needs to take another health state.
Also after slowing down the video I believe he had the Edge of Revival add on which made him down you even faster.
-
Probably Steve. I love his sense of humor even in serious situations and just his overall sarcastic and upbeat personality — so I feel like if I were a survivor in DBD he would be a sense of relief to me and I'd stick by him closely.
-
I thought I was crazy too when I thought I kept hearing a lit totem and looking around and not being able to find one. Took me a while to figure out it was the hook just being extra loud but it still gets me to look around for a minute whenever I run by a hook for a totem.
-
My friends that I play with have this same problem as well. 2 people in our squad (including me) play on PC while one plays on Xbox Series X and the other plays on Xbox One. My friend who plays the Series X hardly has the issue, but my friend that plays on Xbox One has to reset their game after almost every match because of this bug.
-
Had this happen a couple of times to me. The first time it happened I got the "hit" as soon as the survivor started the action to drop the pallet and it counted the stun but not my hit. Ended up costing me the game a bit, since it would've been a down within the first 15 seconds of the game. I ended up getting a 2k and the survivor that was saved from the glitch said "ez" to me in end chat which was frustrating.
For some killers it might not be too much of a set back. But I was playing Trickster with the iridescent photocard add on so once I got stunned I lost my exposed status on the survivor and my laceration progress which was unfortunate. It pretty much set me back to square one while at least 2 other survivors had about a 30 second head start on me on separate gens.
-
Definitely agree with the others when I would love a Trickster map. Even before his release I'm super into cyberpunk settings and atmospheres with a lot of neon lights and damp alleyways with the lights reflecting off the water.
Having another outdoor map with the neon lights, damp atmosphere outside with either general city white noise and/or a slight kpop beat playing in the distance from a building advertising one of his songs, and the warehouse he used to do his killings/set ups for the police as a main building would've been amazing to see.
-
I hardly go up against a Trapper or Hillbilly. I don't see Nurse too often either. I've been getting an influx of Tricksters since everyone's testing out his new changes (
which I'm definitely not complaining about 😏) -
Congrats!! Welcome to the adept Trickster club! ❤️
-
I don't think he was over buffed — but instead now people are actually getting an influx of Trickster players trying out his changes. People still weren't used to him or go against him often since he wasn't really played before and are now seeing how when played correctly how strong he can be.
-
May seem like I'm lying, but I never do. Even if someone if body blocking with BT I'll just collide with them and go around to get whoever they're trying to protect. If I'm following after an unhook and I see two separate paths of scratch marks and I end up following the person that just got unhooked I walk away. If something accidental happens, like they jump through a window in front of me and startle me or just weird hitboxes cause me to "tunnel" and hit them again I'll just leave them on the ground to be picked up.
It's not that I'm afraid to be called a tunneler, but I play both sides so I try to make the game as enjoyable for everyone. Even if it's end game and tunneling will give me a kill I'd rather just take the L myself than tunnel or camp.
-
Survivor: Bunny Feng. I'll very rarely play Claire cause I think she's also pretty but I'm dedicated to being a Bunny Feng main.
Killer: Trickster. I'm a one-trick with him and plan on playing only him until the day the game dies — unless someone who's watching me play asks me to play someone specific.
-
If you couldn't tell by my name, my obvious favorite to go up against is Trickster. As soon as I see one? Immediate item drop — immediate friend :) met some of the kindest members of the community. Spending my nights goofing off with a Trickster who runs with the joke of my name are some of my best DBD memories.
-
Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. I become my own entertaining YouTube playthrough when I played them. The mix of older controls, bad gameplay mechanics, and terrible luck make me so mad that I end up laughing my ass off in the end of it all.

Thank you so much!! It means a lot to me ❤️

I love everything about this. I don't even think I have any suggestions for changes — since his release in PTB all these changes, especially the 115% movement speed, was everything I wanted or thought he needed. It fixes him where he needs to be fixed without completely reworking how he's played.

maybe a legion skin? ik its not really the best nor most fitting but i still think its better than nothing.
Ooo yeah and they can pass it off as a Julie or Susie skin! Legion is probably the best fitting out of all the killers since Baby uses a knife like his the most throughout the movie.

L-Lampkin Lane?!
In all seriousness, Wretched Shop is one of my most consistently good maps as Killer. Rancid Abattoir and Ironworks of Misery are decent too. Strangely, Pale Rose is usually nice to me as well.
Yeah a lot of survivors question me when I use the offering to go there but idk something about it I love to play with both killer and survivor even if it's survivor sided
-
My favorites to play as killer are Dead Dawg Saloon, Hawkins, Lerys, Midwich, Coldwind, and Lampkin Lake.
-
I've been hearing about this combo a lot and I have like 10 of each of these add ons so I think I'll give it a try. Don't know if I would want to do it often though so I don't get used to it but it sounds interesting.

But the difference is this isn’t an FPS game. We already had a full auto styled range killer in the plague who used a beam weapon. She’s Balanced by the fact she can’t down with her normal puke.
If trickster is able to down with a full auto attack he becomes very oppressive at low wall loops to a point where even a lower skilled trickster can get an easy down. He’ll always have little counterplay due to not being able to dodge the blades since by the time you’ve dodged you’ll be hit by another 2 anyway. This leads to him having to be weak so he doesn’t become just a better huntress
If you have a lot of effectiveness increase add ons with Plague in combination with good aim I would argue that Plague can actually down faster than Trickster since I don't believe survivors get a speed boost when they become fully sick and injured (been a while since I played her) so she can combine her power with an m1 very quickly. But even then a beam attack is different from Trickster's power and those are different from Huntress's power. They're all really similar concept wise being ranged attacks but they all feel different to play even if it's a small difference. My aim when I play with Plague or Huntress is a lot less consistent than when I play Trickster. I think it also depends on hitboxes.
-
I don't think he should be reworked. As someone who attempted to play Huntress before Trickster came out they feel completely different to play despite their powers being similar.
It's like the difference between a rifle and a sniper in FPS games. Trickster relies more on tracking while Huntress relies more on instant precision. It depends on the person's playstyle and what they're better at or prefer.
-
I personally don't mind the killer adepts as I love the challenge and my skill being put to the test. I've only done one because I wanted it to be someone I knew I was going to be dedicated to maining just to make it a bit more special and show it off in my steam showcase — and that ended up being Trickster. Took me around 3-4 matches of ruthless but ended up getting the merciless :)
-
I pulled off a pallet save today with no problem but maybe they're a bit more sensitive timing wise with the pallet/hit change.
-
Surprised I'm the first I think to say Trickster. I would gladly allow Ji-Woon to break me in half and I refuse to apologize for being down bad.
-
Honestly your "main" might not even be in the game yet. I had the same struggle a little bit ago. I had killers I preferred playing but I never considered myself a main to any of them. None of them felt 100% fun to play. Then Trickster came, and I fell in love. Even when I lose, I have a blast with him and I think that's what matters.
I used to "main" Piggy, Pyramid Head, and Doctor. Since you excluded Piggy and Pyramid Head maybe play around with Doctor. He's pretty underrated in my opinion and fun to play especially when you pull off well timed shocks :)

only possible with the mouse?
I've only played killer a couple times on console but I think if your sensitivity is high enough you can do the same sort of curve/flick shot on console as well
-
It's possible they flick their shot. When someone tries to 360 me when I'm basic attacking I have to pretty much throw my mouse across the desk to curve or flick my shot to hit them.
-
He's still neutral to me strength wise. I had to adjust my gameplay a little to get used to the new changes but overall still very fun to play and I'll continue to play only him. They made his strengths and weaknesses more extreme which makes it harder to have a well balanced game where everyone has fun with him but it's hard to please both sides with any changes. I think he felt smoother prior to the changes but with a couple add on combinations he can feel relatively the same.
-
Whenever I hook someone in that map it takes me a good 30 seconds to try and figure out how to leave the area and I always am like "I swear I'm not camping I just can't find my way out of here! 😖"
-
What I would love most is definitely Carrie. More specifically the 2013 one. I think having a killer that incorporates telekinesis into their kit would be interesting.
Other ones I've thought about and would like are Chucky, FNAF, or Slenderman. I also love Silent Hill since Pyramid Head is one of my favorite fictional characters so I was ecstatic when they had that chapter!
-
I've only had one hacker a long time ago who finished each gen in 2 seconds, had speed hacks, and opened the exit gate immediately. I reported but didn't take and video evidence since I just shrugged it off, took the depip, and moved on to the next game since there's not much to be done. I felt worse for the other survivors who kind of just stood by me and watched it happen since I know they all depiped as well and there wasn't much they can do either.

Hopefully this means people stop playing him and he gets completely reworked because he’s a total snooze fest to play against too. If you’re at a short loop or god forbid a corridor or a part of the map with somewhat open areas, you’re going down in less than 10 seconds. If you’re at a jungle gym or a high wall loop you can probably run him for a long time because the knives will decay long before you get injured.
As a result, every single Trickster now seems to just camp hooks and nothing else. I don’t even blame them for doing it either because he has no map pressure at all. If a teammate gets hooked in the basement you have to play like it’s an Insidious Bubba and just leave them to die. If they get hooked in the open, BT does nothing and they’ll go down within seconds of being unhooked anyway so again, might as well just slam gens and leave.
Rubbish chases, fast gens and no room for altruism at all. My hats off to the devs if they wanted to make a killer that the entire player base would find frustrating and unsatisfying because they did a great job.
As someone who loves the way his kit is I hope he doesn't get a complete overhaul on his kit but I do hope in future tweaks they make it more fun for both sides. Either he's gonna be extremely frustrating to the survivors if it's an open map/area or one of his strong loops; or, he's gonna be extremely frustrating to the player if it's a weak loop/indoor map that breaks line of sight a lot because of his faster laceration decay.
A good Trickster shouldn't need to camp to get kills (I don't agree with camping in general but that's beside the point). He's one of those killers you need to take time with to know how to play in each map and each loop — and you need to keep the momentum going and snowballing. He is very strong when it comes to people unhooking because he can down both of them fast but then it's the survivors fault for unhooking in front of him to be able to pull that off. Had a match yesterday with 3 people trying to unhook each other in front of my face without even waiting for me to leave the hook to continue to gen patrol. I had main event so that match ended pretty fast.

what add ons do u play with? i usually use the movement and throw rate. Movement does nothing and throw rate makes him smoother i guess, but my main issue is how he slows himself down when throwing
(Sorry if this comment posts twice I'm not sure if my first answer went through)
I use the melodious murder + bloody boa add on to combat the nerfs that he got that makes him feel weaker in his weakest situations so I can enjoy the buffs he got more. I tried using the fizz spin soda + caged heart shoes combo and it felt a bit clunky to me. But yeah, I wish he could be a 115% killer who only slows down when using his power vs having 2 stacked movement speed penalties.
-
I was wondering this exact same thing while I was playing Trickster. Yesterday while playing him every game I had there were a ton of dcs after I would down within the first minute or two. I ended up depiping a couple times because I'm not going to punish the remaining survivors for their lousy teammates so I ended up letting them go. Here's a picture I took of how all my matches ended up and the map was The Game (which isn't super bad for Trickster but not the best).
I asked Nancy why everyone's been dcing and she said it was happening all day and she went down dramatically in rank because of it so she was relieved to get a pip in my match where I let her go.
I blocked out the names of the people who dced just to be safe.

After the changes I use the melodious murder + bloody boa add ons to combat the nerfs that he got as much as possible so it doesn't interrupt my gameplay as much. I tried the fizz spin soda + caged heart shoes combo (increased throw rate and movement) once and it felt very clunky to use probably because of the throw speed nerf. But yeah, I wish they would make him a 115% killer who then slows down when trying to throw knives vs having 2 stacked movement speed penalties for using his ability.

Before I decided to one-trick Trickster my mains used to be Pyramid Head, Piggy, and Doctor. I also had a lot of fun with Demo but I didn't do that well with him.
-
I love a lot of these ideas and I'm glad to see someone else who's passionate about him. I've been one-tricking him since his release. The laceration decay being almost as fast is a bit dicey but 12 seconds is a lot better than the 10 seconds. I love the laceration knife pulling out action as it indirectly helps him have more map pressure instead of feeling punished for leaving a chase while he has a laceration meter built up. I think 7 hits per health state will also feel a bit more comfortable for both sides playing. I like the idea of the main event change but I think he should do 4 handfuls of 5 knives rather than 3 so it's more guaranteed to get a down when you activate it and get more value from it since it takes a while to charge up (if his maximum laceration was still at the hypothetical 7).
-
I think that the default Kate with the basic animation looks really pretty imo and I really like her more pronounced parted lips. Maybe it's because my mouth rests the same way naturally and I always felt self conscious about it but seeing someone pretty like Kate having it makes me feel good about it. Not sure if it was intentional or not but that's my view of it :)
-
I agree completely. While it doesn't impact my gameplay experience too much because I love playing Trickster, I do feel like for survivors or others trying to learn to play Trickster it's more frustrating. I feel like the changes reward those who already had a full understanding of how to play him and made it a lot harder for those still learning/console players. I still wish they would make him a 115% killer and stuck with the original 60 knives and 8 hit laceration meter (maybe even buff it slightly to 7).
-
I know that people who know my socials know this but not anyone here in the community — I have a passion for art! :)
-
Starting off or finishing with an m1 attack is a good strat to playing Trickster even before the changes. Sometimes people get too wrapped up in needing to use his power to get a down. If you know the survivor or loop is an easy m1 mindgame and/or they're up in your face I would personally just go for an m1 and conserve your knives for the next chase. This is especially important since they nerfed his knife amount. But yeah, overall I think he feels a little bit less smooth to play since his changes but still fun nonetheless :)
-
Would love a Baby Firefly skin in the game since she's my favorite one from the movie even though she probably wouldn't fit as a survivor skin since she's a serial killer
-
He's viable if you know how to play him. But if you're not used to him he's not inviting or friendly to those who are interested in picking him up. His "buff" also nerfed him at the same time so he's still stuck in the same spot as he was before. He's a bit weaker now in his weaker loops and very strong, almost too much, at his stronger loops. His performance really depends on the player using him and how much they know how to use him.
-
@OtzEnjoyer said:
I think it's only a buff if your someone who's going to put thousands of hours into him to get amazing at hitting knives.
Right now with how fast laceration decays, the slight spread on his knives, and nerf'd throw speed he's definitely worse off for the average player.
*laughs in thousands of hours put in Trickster*
But fr tho, as someone who one-tricks him it's definitely not a nerf but it's weird to call it a buff since now he's lacking in other ways. He performs relatively the same but rewards good Trickster players more.
-
I think he stayed the same in strength level so neither. As the comment above me says they buffed him in areas he was already strong and nerfed where he was already weak. There are ways to slightly counter his indirect nerfs with his add ons but it keeps him at the same strength level as before.
-
I like a lot of these ideas. I've heard the idea of pulling out knives manually like mending float around and I think it would be interesting to see how it affects his games. I've always wanted main event to be like Oni's blood fury as I think he'd get more value out of it. I'm not sure about the trick blades being base kit as I feel like sometimes it would be a matter of luck to the survivors to dodge them all. But overall these ideas do seem interesting to talk about and play around with. It doesn't change his gameplay too much to where it's an entirely new kit but gives him more map pressure like he's lacking.
-
As someone who plays FPS games with a controller and plays Trickster on PC with a mouse I can say that I feel you. There's no way I could have the same kind of control I do with my mouse when I play Trickster with a controller especially if going up against PC people who can make quicker movements. I give props to anyone that can play Trickster well on console/controller.
-
Definitely a B. He's very strong with people who know how to play him and the game well in general but very weak with those still trying to learn his mechanics and fundamentals. I don't think he got any stronger from the changes but instead it now highlights even more what he's weak at and what he excels at. I think his weaknesses overpower his strengths in more cases but he's still the most fun killer to play (in my opinion) even when you have bad matches.
-
What other people say is true. The toxic ones that teabag, click their flashlights, or spam notifications won't get my attention because I don't want to become overly frustrated and throwing the game trying to give them exactly what they want. I guess for me personally just throwing yourself in front of me would get me to chase you or unhooking/doing a gen right in front of me. Maybe ask your fellow crewmates to sandbag you but not so obvious to where the killer would feel bad and still chase them (i.e have them take the killer to the same area as the gen you're working on, hiding, etc).
