  • Most fun killers for me to go up against are probably Pyramid Head or Doctor. My favorite is Trickster (obviously) but just for simping purposes and so I can give them my item and follow them around.

  • I'm also a red rank on both sides and I've definitely encountered more toxicity from survivors than I have from killers. And my definition of toxicity is either insults in chat or doing something in the game that's unbeneficial to gameplay other than to be toxic (i.e. flashlight flickering, teabagging, leaving all survivors to bleed out, etc). I don't consider slugging, camping, flashlight saves/at a pallet to be seriously toxic. I have around 700 hours in the game and I can only recall one toxic killer I've gotten, which was a Twins that slugged everyone and left everyone to bleed out slowly while trying to get Victor to jump on a table in Dead Dawg Saloon.

When I first joined this game and was just learning to play killer the survivors I got were almost unbearably toxic. There's multiple amounts of times I can recall debating on quitting the game because of it. But now that I know what I'm doing I get toxic survivors maybe once every month? Maybe even less? Most people are wholesome to me now and I feel very welcomed in the community for the most part.

  • I hate going up against Huntress simply because I'm not afraid to admit I'm terrible at looping her and also sometimes hitboxes make me want to throw my computer into my nearby pool.

Deathslingers are the most fun to go up against in my opinion when I'm playing normally.

I say that because if we're talking just purely based off experience and not normal gameplay it's obvious Trickster is the most fun for me. But I always simp and drop my item for them as soon as I hear the lullaby and 95% of the time they understand the joke of my name and they'll be nice to me. But in like the 2 games where a Trickster hasn't been nice to me he's still fun to go up against because I understand how he works since I main him so I know exactly where to take him — it's intriguing to get the other side's experience.

  • Clown, Cannibal, and Huntress I dislike most going up against because I have such a hard time looping them 😭

  • He's very strong out in the open, but not much he can do at any high walled loop. Distance is also a weakness of his. The distance that you make after transitioning from healthy to injured makes or breaks a chase with him. Honestly I'm accepting that his kit is just going to stay black and white as it is — he's either going to shred if you don't find an area fast to counter him or he's gonna struggle hard in some of his bad maps. The only way I can see him being balanced on both sides is reverting his knife changes and making him a 115% killer.

I don't know many places that you can throw knives through or under. Only place I can think of is killer shack but it's really hard to pull off getting a health state through the cracks of the boards. But if a Trickster is able to take a health state that way they deserve the down for playing well tbh 🤷🏻‍♀️ but he's as balanced now than he ever was. He was able to shred through 2 health states in good situations even before his buffs but now people are just realizing how good he can be in the right hands — just like every killer.

  • I would definitely recommend having 1-2 gen regression perks. Ruin and Discordance are my go-to gen control perks, For add ons I would recommend these add ons:

    • Bloody Boa
    • Melodious Murder
    • Fizz-Spin Soda
    • Diamond Cufflinks
    • Trick Blades
    • Caged Heart Shoes

If you wanted to know anything else to do with Trickster I have a guide that I plan on keeping updated about him that explains everything to do with him :)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/270849/a-trickster-guide-by-a-trickster-one-trick

  • Here's some yellow and brown add ons that I would recommend:

    • Trick Pouch
    • Ji-Woon's Autograph
    • Caged Heart Shoes

Any combination of these would be pretty good with him and there are green and purple add ons that are pretty much those but better so you can get used to how he works with them.

EDIT: I also have a guide for Trickster that I'm updating with each patch if you were interested in learning Trickster <3

That normally shouldnt happen though, worst case scenario, the game should stop loading and kick everyone out once the person who crashed the game on purpose has reconnected to DBD.

That's more a problem with a glitch with the loading screen than the person crashing.

Yeah normally it would boot us out within 5 minutes. I started getting concerned that maybe the game was going and the survivors loaded in while I was glitched in the loading screen and maybe I appeared as AFK. So I started screen recording after like 10 minutes as proof for a loading glitch. But afterwards a couple of survivors were also really confused about how long it actually took to boot us all out.

  • I had a game recently where I was stuck in the loading for probably around 10-15 minutes — no joke. It got to the point where I friended as many people as I could on the other side to talk to them because I didn't know if we were all stuck or not. Come to find out that one of them told me they crashed their game on purpose because they didn't want to play on my map offering. One of the other survivors dced as well after we finally got back to the lobby, probably because they didn't know what was going on either.

I disconnected while loading in a game a couple of days ago because my power went out because of a storm outside so I felt really bad that everyone probably went through the same problem I did 😖

A killer, that desperately relies on dedicated maps with low walls or massive dead zones, is indeed very nicely designed!

He does rely a bit on maps but there's only 3 I can think of that are pretty bad for him — but it's still possible to win on those maps (aside from Red Forest, I've only gotten that map once with him in all the time I've played him and it was miserable so I don't have enough experience with that specific map to say for sure).

  • I agree. I haven't had much free time to play consecutively but in the couple matches I've played he feels a lot more balanced. He's still very strong out in the open and it's hard to counter him at low loops but at this point there's not much that can be done to make it any more balanced than he is now. As strong as he is at open areas, he's just as weak in map pressure and gen control. He's very black and white performing but it'll be hard to change that unless his 110% gets bumped up and the knife changes reverted. You're forced to down and hook fast with him or gens are gonna fly. So it's just a race of who can do their objectives more efficiently when playing with him.

  • I can only speak for myself about why I would love FNAF in DBD but it's honestly just cause I love the game. And just for everyone's knowledge I'm 22 and not a child.

While the gameplay of FNAF isn't anything particularly special I like everything else about it. The concept of the game — haunted animatronics, reminds me of when I was little and used to love going to Chuck E Cheese just to see the animatronics. I think I have a slight fascination for animatronics because I also love watching videos about older animatronics in other children places and the dinosaur animatronics made for Jurassic Park.

I also really love the 4th wall breaking in the game. How there were clues hidden in files and on the FNAF website that you had to manipulate them to find out. Psychological horror is my favorite genre so it just makes sense. This is why DDLC (if you know you know) is my favorite single player game because it does what FNAF did but better.

I used to really like the lore but I started getting lost on it after the first couple of games. I only really know the first game and that's all I really need to like the game — just because it is scary knowing that children were killed in cold blood and left to rot in animatronic suits. Or the child that got part of it's brain bitten off by an animatronic.

But yes — FNAF is marketed for tweens. It doesn't have explicit imagery like the lore actually contains to keep it's pg-13 rating. But the combination of childhood nostalgia, fascination of animatronics, and my love for psychological horror is what makes me love FNAF. And I also love DBD soo it just makes sense.

  • I enjoy adepts being challenging for killer. It's like an achievement for telling me I know how to play the killer and that I was able to beat the challenge.

Took me about 5 games to get adept Trickster because of suicides on hooks, killing too fast, or last person getting hatch. But getting it was super satisfying — knowing just how hard an adept is and that he's a harder killer to use overall.

If all you had to go was 4k for adept all it would take is slugging, camping, or tunneling to get adept. It's up to someone if they want to use those techniques in regular games, but for adepting it doesn't really show a full comprehensive understanding of how to play the killer effectively in my opinion.

  • For me on both sides it's very erratic. While playing killer I had both teams that seemed to be newer at the game and didn't comprehend that Trickster can throw knives over loops and teams that knew what they were doing.

With survivor it was the same. I got left on the hook a couple times in some of my matches and in others they knew how to body block, spread out, loop, etc.

So I'm not sure how the SBMM is working. Sometimes it seems to flip from me having high skill to baby skill.

  • I've only been on the forums for a little less than a month but I definitely crawl around the Trickster threads the most and I'm beginning to recognize names of fellow Trickster mains. More specifically @PNgamer , @Trickstaaaaa , and @Jarol are ones I see the most often that come to my head that have good discussion about my favorite boy. But overall everyone's been really kind about my opinions and discussions so 🥺

Is your username here the same as in game? I only ask because i feel like i know it from in game and im pretty sure i played against you with my friends this last weekend. You were the red rank trickster that demolished us lol

Yeah my name is the same in game as it is on here 😂 I might remember your usernames too

  • His recent changes make him feel a lot better to play. He feels a bit more like the old Trickster with his throw rate increase. I think I already got used to the 10 second laceration decay so the change there didn't feel different at all. However I was going up against people who might've been lower ranks than I am thanks to the SBMM because they were running in straight lines against me and using loops as if I couldn't throw my knives over them. Not sure why because I'm a Rank 1 Killer and a prestige 3 Trickster with a high kill rate.

I'll keep testing out the changes and seeing more how it is. More importantly after the SBMM test is over. The buff definitely makes him a lot stronger especially if you already knew how to play him. I had one team today that absolutely destroyed me and knew what they were doing against a Trickster but the rest of my matches were a breeze.

  • @TerrorUnleashed said:

I've personally had little experience with everybody's 'buff me-nerf me' poster boy, even given his belated late-March release, but I've recently come around to enjoying watching clips of him and I'm even considering purchasing him over Oni or Deathslinger next. Granted that's primarily due to the fact that I've recently returned to playing DBD Mobile extremely casually on-the-go, and despite awful connectivity issues (there has been consistent problems with Mobile Australia servers and being pitched up against players in North American and European ones) and rampant lag spikes, I've had fun with him. I could certainly see myself playing him on console with little to no care for how I play, because I just find his demeanor that interesting. I like the quips/noises he makes when he's hit with a pallet or otherwise impeded, I like his hit animations, his gen animations, his perks are quite entrancing (but most of them far from 'good' in my books), and his power, in spite of being a hit-and-miss thing and a total rebranding of Huntress' power, I actually like it. A lot.

But seriously, on a whole other note, people have to stop with these Trickster complaint posts. We get it.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3367HLGNQ5YI/image.png

Yeah I agree. I love the personality that he has in all his animations and other voice lines. His add on descriptions are really interesting as well if you're invested in his lore. I can't wait for the next tome where I can find out more about him. My favorite animations of his are his window vaulting and pallet stun. But I also love the noise his bat makes after a basic attack. Small things like this just make me love him as a character even more :)

  • My current survivor build is Spine Chill, Self Care, Sprint Burst, and Alert. Lets me know where the killer is often, when they're coming, and allows for a quick escape and often a missed basic attack from the killer. I use self care so I can take a lot of hits for other people and do more risky plays.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

6 Knives is already quite fast to injure someone.

4 Knives is a little bit too much, even a very biased person should see that.

As a biased Trickster main I agree. 4 knives to take a health state with add ons that encouraged bad aim with him was too much. To the point where I wouldn't really suggest people using the add ons because it rewarded playing him incorrectly.

That's how killers work though. Some killers have powers that are good at loops, others have powers that are good in the open. Why is it a problem if he is strong in the open but weak at loops like shack? That's literally his intended design.

I don't think it's a problem, he definitely should still be countered at those loops and at this point it's one of his only counters in a 1v1 situation. But sometimes if the map was full of them, such as red forest, there's literally not much he can do — not even just be a m1 killer. I demonstrated this with my friend by just running forward around Dead Dawg Saloon, no windows or hugging the wall, and showed them how long it took Trickster to actually catch up to just get off one basic attack/use his knives effectively. No other killer struggles with that (i.e Trapper can place a trap, Huntress can land a hatchet, Plague can catch up a lot faster to basic attack and/or her sickness doesn't "decay" like Trickster, etc). If I'm not thinking of another killer that struggles like that to get a health state off on a survivor only running forward correct me if I'm wrong.

But I think Trickster is far from overpowered or being the weakest. He's just a very black and white killer. He's either gonna shred the survivors a new one or he can't do anything in a map like red forest. He should be more of a grey area killer that can be more fun for both sides.

  • I partially agree. The laceration decay time was a good change in my opinion as it actually helps him where he's weak. But I'm not sure about being able to throw knives faster. It did feel a bit clunky after his 5.1.0 changes but it might, again, make him even stronger in the open.

I think they increased his throwing speed so he can down people before they get to his weak areas (killer shack, high loops, etc) as a way to help him where he's weak. But it indirectly makes him a lot stronger out in the open again.

I'll be trying these new changes soon to see. But I'm expecting a lot more DCs each game than I've already been getting.

  • Aside from gaming, my passion is art! Always has been since I was little and I'm hoping to make a career out of it :) I've been working on my art business since 2018.

  • I think the only DBD killer I've dreamt about was Trickster. He was holding a lot of people here hostage in the gym of my old school while singing and dancing. I was some vigilante badass who snuck in the school to save everyone.

I remember peeking around the corner to see the situation and seeing Trickster. I then said after turning back around the corner:

"Of course the guy holding a bunch of people hostage HAS to be hot"

Made myself laugh after I woke up. I managed to save everyone in my dream after somehow being able to wrestle and pin him down so everyone can escape.

  • The release of Trickster has been the most positive thing to happen to me this year in DBD! Not only did I find a killer that I consistently have fun with even when I lose but I've met tons of the sweetest people in the community because of him :)

He's also a blast to draw (art is my career) and I'm in the process of making a full cosplay of him for my local convention in November — but I'm hoping to get it done within a month or two to take photos in!

  • Trickster doesn't need a nerf — he needs to be better balanced. He's very strong in his strong areas and even weaker in his weak areas.

I always say that doing well with Trickster requires you to dedicate your time to learn him. In retrospect that also helps you significantly in playing against him. I know every single loop that's good for him and I know every loop that's bad for him. So when I'm playing survivor that gives me the upper hand against him.

I've had a very small amount of games where I actually versus a Trickster, because I always drop my item for him and I'm nice to any I see and most of the time they'll be nice to me back. But I've had a couple that didn't want to be nice to me and I know exactly what loops to take him so he'll struggle.

  • Had a game I was pretty sure I was gonna lose. Hardly had any hooks until the last 1-2 gens needed to be done. Mostly because the survivors knew what they were doing and spread out and did gens — but I also got a couple of weird bugs/unlucky circumstances in that game that threw me behind (one I can remember clearly is a Dwight rushing into the locker right in front of me as a last resort and when I go to open the locker the game rendered that I opened the other locker next to it that I wasn't even facing so he was able to leave and make significant distance).

After taking a breath and turning my head back on straight again I was able to focus and get hook after hook. No slugging, tunneling, or overly ambitious hook saves in front of me that allowed me to get an easy down. I ended up winning and letting the last person have hatch.

  • For the longest time when I was learning the game I thought kicking the generator made the progress instantly go down a little and then start regressing. So I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to actually implement that.

  • Used to happen to me almost every match when I was new at the game. A lot of the times they were relentless homophobic, racist, etc comments until the lobby would force close on us.

Now that I know how to play the game it hardly happens. Especially since playing Trickster a lot of people are so much more wholesome with me since they like the character and my name. Very rarely I'll get called a tunneler still when I watch back Twitch streams I was in but it's always a mistake or something they say out of frustration for me hooking so fast that they feel like they got tunneled.

I actually got my first toxic comments in a really long time just last week. Was streaming to a couple of my friends on Discord to show them how I play Trickster and to show off his Mori and they were being a toxic duo with tea bagging and flashlight clicking (before they knew I had Mori). I was even gonna give the last toxic guy hatch since they had a dc but they continued to be toxic to me.

Needless to say I enjoyed carrying them out and dropping them into the open so my audience and I could watch the Mori. Here's a picture from how that chat went:

  • I have "gg" and "ty" censor on me all the time. But then it'll uncensor after like the 5th time I put it in.

But he's 115% and he can injure survivors while not even being there, and if he traps a healthy survivor that's basically an instadown. I don't know how that's worse than someone who needs 7 knives to injure, moves at 110% and is even slower while throwing or using Main Event, can't hold Main Event like Oni holds his power btw. And his knives "decay" over time meaning you can get 1 knife away from injuring, but because you didn't throw that last one, you don't get anything for it.

The laceration decay forces you to use his power when it's a good time rather than spamming from far away and getting a down. It's where he differs from Huntress. And just because he's a 110% doesn't mean he can't m1 mindgame.

But I do agree that he should be a 115% killer with the previous changes and that his Main Event should be able to be held like Oni.

  • My first reaction is to laugh because most of the time it'll happen after they've been looped for a while, pallet stunned, flashlighted, etc. I'll make jokes about how the stun or whatever happened was the last straw for them.

But part of me feels bad, I'll often say, "this poor _____" because I genuinely do feel bad for the killer if they're struggling a lot. Or if I know that they were lagging and then they DC I figure it was because of their internet or something and also feel bad since they had no control over that. If a killer struggles in my match pretty badly I'll drop my item and see if they're up to farming at endgame collapse as to maybe help them safety pip.

  • My favorite slasher movie personally is Child's Play. More specifically the Bride of Chucky just cause I love Tiffany so damn much. Anything past Seed of Chucky I don't like. Especially the 2019 movie.

I also liked Freddy vs Jason a lot as a tween but it's been a long time since I've watched it so it might not be as good as I remember it.

I just watched Freaky a couple of days ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's technically a slasher but also a horror comedy. But if you like Mortal Kombat fatality level of slashing then it's a good movie to watch.

  • I disagree. He's just unfriendly to those who want to learn how to play him. I would say it took around a month of learning him for me to consistently get 2k+'s and that was before his changes. Now he's much more difficult to learn with the laceration decaying so much faster.

If you know how to play Trickster, downing people isn't an issue — his gen control and pressure is unless you have a good snowball going. But that's where you use his kit in sync with perks.

Other than that, he's my best performing killer that's carried me to a consistent rank 1 for the first time since buying the game.

Haha, thank you so much!! I've tried to tag them on Twitter so maybe you guys could've seen it easier but no luck so far!

I do everything by hand and with some help from my 3D printer.

I can't wait to see your cosplay soon!

Yeah I'm hoping more people can see it on here, I gave you a well deserved follow on Insta ☺️ I can't wait to see more!

  • Ahhh you're so good at making your own cosplays! 🥺 I wanted to cosplay Plague at one point but her details are so intricate and I love how you were able to pull her off! I'm in the process of making my own Trickster cosplay right now and it's a headache so seeing these is super inspiring :)

  • Mines a bit biased, as I usually drop my item for any Trickster I see and 95% of the time they'll meme with me because of my name.

But don't get me wrong, I love a good snoot boopin as well.

  • Used to rotate through almost all the killers. Now I only play Trickster.

  • As a big fan of FNAF I would love to see Springtrap.

I think why people think he's not scary, or the game isn't scary in general, is because since the game is marketed towards tweens it doesn't go full out on how scary it actually is.

I have a hard time keeping up with the storyline after the first couple of games but I believe Springtrap has a corpse inside of it? FNAF refrains from the gore and messed up imagery that the storyline actually contains to keep it's PG-13 rating.

But I fully believe if a sentient worn down animatronic full of dangerous machinery and a decaying human body chased after anyone irl with the intent to kill they probably wouldn't say "Springtrap's not scary".

  • Other games I play are:

    Overwatch

    League of Legends

    Smite

    Apex Legends

    CoD

    Mabinogi

    Knockout City

    Rogue Company

    Fortnite

    Animal Crossing

    Stardew Valley

    Beat Saber

    Until You Fall

    Guitar Hero

I've played tons of others but not enough or as frequently to put on the list — I play a large variety of games now looking at the list as a whole lol

  • If Trickster is close enough that he shreds through BT and downs you again immediately after being unhooked that's less of his fault and more of your teammate's for unhooking in front of him or in his terror radius knowing that that's a strong area of his kit (unless he's camping/proxy camping).

  • DBD is one of my favorite games now that I've gotten past the learning curve fully. Enough so that for one of my first tattoos I'll be getting a DBD one on my wrist because I've made a lot of good memories now. The game will always have a special place in my heart even with it's flaws :)

No matter how nicely you want to put it, getting stuck on a 3 gens for well over 20 minutes isn’t fair. i couldn’t even down anyone bc they would rush to the gen since they could clearly talk and give my location at all time.

It's not fair of course ━ but not because they're a SWF but because they act toxic and want to get a reaction out of you. A large number of survivors will be toxic, SWF or not (so can killers but that's beside the point). Getting flustered or upset is exactly what they want, no matter if you're someone that just got the game and don't know how to play killer very well or if you're one of the top killer mains themselves. It's just one of those things you have to shrug off. Unfortunately, there is toxicity in every multiplayer game.

Well yes but what frustrated me is that we all did insane bp and probably all pip. Yet they didn’t go down once bc of all the BT DS flashlights and unbreakable. Literally do you know how frustrating it is to be stuck in a 3 gens for over 20 minutes ?

I had a game like this recently with a team I suspected to be SWF and even though I didn't tunnel I ate a couple of DS's despite never hooking the same person twice in a row because they were body blocking and being super altruistic.

Honestly getting mad about it is super counter-productive. If you feel the frustration building sometimes it's best to take a mental breath and use their altruism against them and not get stuck in the tunnel vision due to frustration.

There are counters to BT, DS, flashlights, and unbreakable. I don't tunnel so BT and DS aren't that big of a problem for me. I always look at the walls or obstacles when picking someone up so flashlight saves don't happen often. And I very rarely slug so they never really get a chance to use unbreakable.

If you go up against a SWF that takes hostage of the game just to bully you ━ take a breath, don't give up, and use that against them. Had my fair share of games where I would 4k because they got too cocky and thought I didn't know what I was doing.

  • I play SWF all the time and most of the time we die. We have red ranks but we play pretty casually nor are we toxic. I also win against a lot of SWFs (I'm only counting the ones I know are SWFs because of one of them being a Twitch streamer). But I get it, the frustration of playing against a well-coordinated SWF ━ but you're never gonna win them all. I don't think they should be banned. If anything I enjoy the challenge as in the long run it'll help me improve.

I'm willing to guess you made this discussion after losing against a well-coordinated SWF and you were in the heat of the moment?

  • Used to dodge TTVs before I knew what I was doing because I didn't feel like getting embarrassed in front of an audience or any toxic comments towards me.

I also used to dodge any lobbies full of people with bright/neon clothes. Now they're just easier to see.

  • I play mostly swf but I have been playing solo survivor more often. Honestly I haven't had many problems? I would say around 70% of my games at least one or two people escape, even if that doesn't include me. I do lose a hook state often but even with my swf it happens so it doesn't bother me much anymore. But I don't think I get many games where it's a complete slaughter and no gens get done with my team standing around. I could be just getting consistently lucky though.
