  • Not at all. The broken matchmaking is a known issue that the devs are working on and it should be fixed "soon."

  • With matchmaking the way it is right now, it's quite possible they've been going up against survivors a lot better than them and getting stomped. That's what's been happening to me a lot. In a match last night I burned a cake (as killer) and a couple survivors burned cakes and someone burned a BPS. Know what happened? They gen rushed so hard and avoided interacting with me so much that the player who scored the most points got a base of 12k. I got 8k. Even with my cake and the BPS, that's less than a normal decent match with no offerings. If that's how it's going for all killers right now, it's hard to blame them for using NOED just to try to get something out of matches so they're not a complete waste of time.

  • Playing solo survivor is misery. You may get good teammates, but a lot of times you get either teammates who are potatoes or a 3-man SWF who sandbags you and/or leaves you to die. It sucks.

Killer often sucks because you go against coordinated teams or matchmaking screws you over with players out of your league. A bunch of gens popping at the beginning of the match is demoralizing and that alone can make it harder to bounce back, just because the killer already feels defeated. And certain maps are just awful to play on. Even if I do well I don't enjoy playing on Haddonfield, it's not a fun map.

  • To me, personally? No. I'd prefer she had a different voice, but everyone values things differently. If you like, go for it.

They already do lol it’s called not leveling the perk up when you find it in the web

Yeah, that doesn't work when tier 3 shows up in the early Bloodweb. I'm stuck with Discordance tier 3 on multiple P3 killers.

The devs should finally add in the ability to sell back items/offerings/add-ons that users don't want for a percentage of the BP, and they should include perks in that so those who have tier 3 of a perk and don't want it can sell it back to have tier 1 reappear on the Bloodweb.

They've already said they're not changing tiers, and they've said that letting players choose which tier of a perk to use would be too much work considering there are few perks that anyone would use that feature on, so that leaves being able to sell them back as the best option.

  • I'd rather they make the crown a separate cosmetic piece (like "accessory") that can be worn on any head cosmetic (or at least almost any, might not work well with Mr. Puddles) . It's pretty lame you're stuck with the default head if you wanna wear the crown, especially since the crown is floating behind them.

  • Survivors should be able to earn pieces of the crown. Like, play a match, if you die with the crown, you get 1/5 piece. If you die or escape without a crown, you get 1/10. If you escape with a crown, you just get the crown. There, now it's not quite so miserable.

  • @LordRegal said:

Absolutely nothing as far as anyone knows. I personally theorize that they use it to weigh against any reports that come that person's way, but I don't know for sure. I also vaguely remember back when the feature was implemented they had ideas for how you could earn things for being props-ed enough, but they never implemented anything like it.

I do wish they'd at least tell the person who got thumbs-up-ed that they did, it'd be a nice little boost to them.

^ This, I also wished it let the person know they were given a thumbs up. I have messages on PS4 turned off; I'd like another way to say "thank you" or "gg" after a match.

  • Sometimes I think only killers should get map offerings, since some killer builds are better on certain maps and completely useless on others. It's kinda dumb if survivors burn an offering that makes the killer useless, what's even the point of playing the match, then? I go AFK pretty much every time survivors burn a Haddonfield offering: apparently they'd like to have the easiest match possible so I spare myself the frustration and let them.

On the other hand, there are certain maps with achievements attached to them. I have yet to get the gen achievement on Dead Dawg Saloon. I almost never get that map as survivor, and when I do the killer is just hardcore usually demolishing the entire team. I can get AFK/farming/newbie killers over and over again on other maps and then suddenly boom, Dead Dawg Saloon, worst freaking luck on a map ever. Anyway, map offerings for it to help me get the achievement would be useful. I don't have any offerings for it yet, but hopefully in the future, and maybe that'll help. It'd suck to be completely stuck at the mercy of RNG for all time while going for that achievement (I've been at the mercy of RNG so far, and it sucks).

  • The problem I have is that not only is survivor more difficult than killer because it requires escaping, but my survivor queues are taking [BAD WORD[ing forever while killer queues are instant, which makes it a lot more miserable. It'd be fine if I could get into matches quickly. Bad match, no problem? Hop into the next one and try again. But instead it requires a crapton of waiting, and that makes the game more frustrating and miserable than anything, having matches that are shorter than the wait time and end with very little BP and no event item to make up for just how unfun the whole thing is.

  • They've said before they don't want to switch the tiers because it's a matter of preference.

So, what I wish they would do is let us sell back perks along with items/offerings/add-ons for a percentage of the BP spent on them. Perks would reappear in the Bloodweb, and those of us who got screwed by bad Bloodweb RNG when P3'ing could buy Discordance at tier 1, again. Problem solved, no extra mess with the UI, it'd just be part of the unwanted junk recycling that we've all been requesting for years.

  • After getting the crowns for my killers, I've just been farming BP as Pyramid Head (I'm leveling him up, so he's getting all the cakes and I'm using them). Mostly I get gen rushed by survivors in red and purple ranks while I'm a rank 16. Fun. Even when they're potatoes, though, I've been letting everyone escape. A few have died by accident (one while farming, so I look forward to a ban if they decide to report me -_-), but otherwise everyone gets to go because do unto others, right?

I still have to get the crowns for my survivors. I haven't done a single survivor match yet because the queues were really long. I'm not looking forward to it. I'm not great at surviving on a normal day, and if killers are going hardcore instead of playing nice I'm gonna be having a miserable time.

  • Good question, especially since it doesn't come with the DbD Silent Hill PS4 theme on the PlayStation one.

  • Sadako for The Spirit.

Also, Kayako Saeki for The Spirit.

  • I noticed it. It's awkward and annoying.

  • Yup, I agree. It's one of two older achievements I don't have unlocked, and I don't really expect to ever get it. Just doing the "hit two survivors from at least 15 meters away" tome challenge was a pain.

I really wish Sony weren't such a pain about this, because once I saw how far away 24 meters is even 20 hits seems crazy. But 100?! On console?!?! Jeez.

  • iirc, it used to be 100 for all systems. However, it was realized that that was a crazy ask, so it was lowered to 20. Unfortunately, Sony will only let games change an achievement if an achievement becomes literally impossible to unlock. Sucks for us unlucky souls on PS4.

Yeah you can. If you get a team of potatoes in a game like LoL or DotA or CS:GO they also don't let you leave the game just because of that. if you do you get banned. Why should you be allowed to leave just because you don't like your team? You literally signed up for getting random teammates by queuing as a solo. If you don't like how randos play, don't play with randos.

I didn't say I didn't like how they play. I've played enough matches to be able to recognize when I'm going to be saved and when I'm going to spend a minute hurting my thumb mashing a button and still not get rescued. If the devs fixed second state, that wouldn't be an issue. But it is an issue. They want to pay for a new controller and pain meds? Fine, I'll continue button mashing. Until then, don't penalize players for not holding out just to die anyway.

  • So many times I've watched other survivors on the other side of the map with no intention of coming over to rescue me. I'll try to get myself off the hook, fail, and then why should I hurt my thumb or my controller struggling to stay in a match where the three-man SWF obviously isn't concerned about anyone other than themselves? No, thanks, I'm out. No, man, you can't punish people for dying on the hook when second state is such a [BAD WORD] show.

I and many others have complained multiple times that second state is bad on the joints and bad on hardware. The devs insist on keeping it in.

Not to mention there have been plenty of times I've suicided on my first hook to give the other person the hatch. Or I'll suicide on my first hook when I see the other survivors could escape but are thinking of trying to rescue me, that way they don't get themselves killed. There are times when suiciding is the team play, it all depends on context.

  • Cheryl really needs some jeans or other pants to go with those tops. Makes no sense that the tops can only be worth with her skirt. Hell, it'd make more sense if her default cosmetic were linked and then the outfits with pants let you customize her shirt. Did Konami actually pay attention to their own game and the outfits Heather wears?

  • Yup, happening to me on PS4. It's quite noticeable and feels very awkward.

  • Yeah, something's been wonky, recently. A survivor will start pointing a flashlight at me, I turn away almost instantly, and even though I've done a 180 the blind will continue and I'll lose sight for a second. It's really frustrating. I may start running Lightborn, because it doesn't feel like the built-in counter of "look away" is working properly.

  • When it requires different survivors, it specifies "different survivors." The word "different" isn't in this challenge description, so it just means land 15 hatchet hits in one match. That's how the challenges have always been worded, iirc.

  • Dang, I'd like to have that theme.

It's so not cool that it doesn't come with the Silent Hill DLC pack. I don't like when companies give rewards to new players that aren't available to loyal customers. And no, paying an extra $50 for a game and DLC I've already bought does not count as it being "available."

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

It's still a skin idk why you guys expected more than a skin.

Even Legion only has 2 voices

In Battlefront 2 some of the Legendary skins have different voices when it's called for. These skins in DbD are also called "Legendary," they're more expensive, and Lisa is a completely different character. It's reasonable to expect she'd get her own voice.

  • I had two rank 20 killers in a row today who disconnected because they were getting stomped... I don't blame them or anything, I felt bad for them, and it sucks for everyone in the match to have such bad skill disparities. Yeah, matchmaking isn't fixed, yet.

What about after I blink and try to swing into a perfectly timed dead hard? My camera and swing animation both get vacuumed to where they DH from and it will make even lunges act like short swings before I'm able to control my camera again.

Huh? I have no idea. I'm just repeating how the devs have explained it. Although, I can't tell how what you're describing is different from what I said: it checks to see where the survivor is and if the hit connects, it adjusts the swing/animation, and then it checks again. But I'm not really sure: I don't play Nurse on PS4. Well, I tried yesterday to do her Daily Ritual. I was miserable the entire time. I got extremely disoriented every time I blinked; even if I landed on top of the survivor I missed because I just... I couldn't tell where I was for a second, which gives them plenty of time to dodge.

  • There is no "auto aim." There's no "aim assist," either. What DbD has is "aim dressing," which means that when the killer swings it's adjusted to look like it hit the survivor. The system checks to see if the hit connects, then it adjusts the swing, then it checks to see if it hit again. This is how killers get screwed out of what should've been a hit.

To put it another way, this is how a dev explained it: Aim assist helps killers get hits they otherwise shouldn't have. Aim dressing will never help a killer get a hit; it can only cause them to miss when they shouldn't have.

  • I'd like the ability to choose the menu theme, too. This one. The Hallowed Blight theme. They've had some really good ones and it's a shame that they're just gone.

  • I'd like to actually see the theme. Most themes are total garbage, anyway. Still, garbage or not, it's total BS that people who already own DbD are screwed out of getting the theme. It should just come with the Silent Hill chapter.

  • I'm hoping for some sort of system that lets you sell unwanted items/add-ons/offerings and perks back for a percentage of the BP.

(The perks would return to the Bloodweb and give the player a chance to, say, get Discordance back down to tier 1 if that's why they prefer. It would be costing the player extra BP to do this, since they only get a percentage back when they sell something, so it seems like a reasonable ask to me.)

  • I dunno about anything else, but I think EW1 Mikey should be immune to Spine Chill like he used to be. He needs to look at survivors to tier up and he's slow. That's part of the fun of him, both playing as him and going up against him: in tier 1 he could be anywhere. You look up and unexpectedly see that white mask off in the distance, watching you.

  • Am I the only one who can't track via sound in this game? Is it a PS4 thing or a not-having-a-$500-headset thing or is it just me? I don't get it. No matter what killer I play, if I can hear the injured survivor I just end up walking in circles trying to locate them.

I can track with sound in other games. I could track via sound in this game for a couple weeks last year when the audio was balanced differently (god it was so nice). But right now? Sound basically functions like "there's someone in this area... somewhere... maybe... are you sure you heard something?" It's more confusing than helpful.

I'm so jealous of anyone who says they can locate survivors by sound. I feel like I'm chasing ghosts when I play as Spirit. I can only use her power for distance and hopeful surprise attacks at gens.

I think about that 180 that you talked about. Of course it was brainless to keep missing and getting no penalty but coming from no penalty to EXTREME penalty is really never a good idea.

I am trying now to use feral frenzy even if all survivors are injured just to put them mending and here's a tip: don't do it. I did it to prove a point and i was right- by the time that you hit the 2nd survivor the other one is finished mending so you basically do nothing with it.

I have the philosophy that you only get profit from FF if you hit at least 2 survivors and 1 of them is healthy. Otherwise they are a pure m1 killer.

Another 180 that comes to my mind is the fact that the most lethal and 2nd most flexible power in the game became the one with the 2nd most cooldown, is only worth in very specific scenarios and is ALWAYS non-lethal.

Playing on PS4 must be really rough.

I'm not sure I'd say Feral Frenzy used to be the most lethal power, but now it's completely non-lethal with so many downsides... in theory, it's supposed to be good for slowing down the game. Only, not really; it's more just an annoyance for survivors to make the match less fun and more tiresome for them. Okay, so then it's good for tracking? Well, only if survivors are all grouped up, which once they discover it's Legion they really shouldn't be, so then he's just an M1 killer with a power that lets him run fast across the map but then stuns him for 4 seconds... ######### is the point of this, again?

If I'm gonna play for tracking and slowdown, I'd much rather play Doctor. If I want to play a killer who can go fast, I'll pick Spirit, Wraith, Billy, or Oni. Legion in theory has the ability to do both in one package, but he doesn't do either of them well. No other killer stops being lethal when they go fast. Spirit and Wraith may have to come out of their power first, but they don't get stunned for 4 seconds when doing so. Legion is a whole lot of punishment with no payoff. Put Infectious Fright on Billy or Oni and they have similar tracking to Legion with more speed and way more lethality.

All in all, Legion's main superpower seems to be that he's supernaturally annoying, both for survivors with "mending" and for the killer player with his extremely punishing and situational power. The best thing about Legion is his aesthetic; Legion gets great cosmetics.

Yeah, playing on PS4 is a pain. The frame drops hurt a lot during a chase. If frames drop around the time I swing my weapon, it almost always misses.

  • I used to always wear glasses when playing video games, but lately (due to insomnia) my eyes often feel tired and I'm headachey (both of which glasses make worse), so I'm trying to keep wearing glasses to a minimum, for when I require them, like driving, movie theaters, or watching something with subtitles.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1352906#Comment_1352906

I 100% agree with you. The devs thought that being a 4.6 m/s killer was too much lethality and i don't know why. Being a pure 4.6 killer you become too much predictable.

It would be fine if they did that but tried to correct the changes as soon as possible. Feral Frenzy only got non-loopable in tiles that you weren't looped normally after 7 months by increasing the vault and movement speeds.

To change the penalty they should've done/do:

    • Missing a hit puts you into fatigue BUT doesn't drop the bar.

    OR

    • Missing a hit drops a portion of the power gauge (like 50% or something).

We are taking baby steps in the right way tho. I hope they start to pay more attention to things like these which they are starting to with, for example, clown not having a movement speed penalty after throwing a bottle which made no sense to be in the game.

I look forward to trying out updated Clown. I do hope this means killers who need it will get tweaks in the future. Like Legion.

I'm on PS4, and with the way the game plays punishing Legion for whiffing in Feral Frenzy is... well, it feels like the game is flipping me off for playing on console. Anything worse than the regular missed attack cooldown is just unnecessary. It's ridiculous to think that the devs went from no missed attack cooldown whatsoever to a missed attack stunning Legion for 4 seconds and taking him out of Frenzy. I mean, #########?? That's an extreme 180.

I'd really like to see Legion get fixed. I have some cool cosmetics for Julie and Susan that I'd like to wear, but I just hate playing as Legion. I always resort to being a powerless M1 killer when I try.

  • In a knee-jerk reaction to the broken state in which he was released, the devs over-corrected for Legion. Instead of tweaking a couple things here or there to balance him, they nerfed him in multiple ways that left him hobbled and just because he's limping at 4.6 m/s doesn't mean it's not limping.

The stun is too long, and whiffing shouldn't take him out of Feral Frenzy, a missed attack cooldown would be more than enough given you're losing time during a power that's already too short if survivors are spread out.

  • Ugh, that lore is awful. I don't get it, that doesn't bring anything interesting to the characters. If that were a sample from a novel, I wouldn't want to read the rest.

Sorry, I'm probably going off topic, but I just don't like the way they write a lot of the lore and backstories in DbD. That Legion nonsense shows they can't handle romantic relationships with any sort of skill, and now they're saying they're going to include romantic relationships more often? The future looks bleak. I'm not sure tact is part of their repertoire.

  • If getting Brutal Killer is what you want, let yourself de-pip back to 16, then next rank reset you'll be rank 17... Matchmaking probably won't be any better, but at rank 17 and worse you get at least Brutal Killer no matter what. It's pretty sweet.

Time of day seems to influence what ranks I get in my lobbies more than anything. I played one match as killer last night, rank 17, and my lobby had a yellow, two purples, and a red. If I play during the day, I'm more likely to get matched with players closer to my own rank.

  • I'm terrible. I can't remember how to play tiles or the shack no matter how many times I watch videos about it, so I really suck as both killer and survivor. Spirit is my favorite killer but I can't track via sound (I dunno why, but I cannot determine where a survivor is based on their injured noises and I walk around in circles trying to locate them). I can't judge speed and distance, so I'm terrible at looping as a survivor. I'm good enough to waste a lot of a killer's time in a chase if they're a rank 20, but if they rank any higher than that I go down quick.

I'm on PS4, so I don't know how many hours I have, but my Devotion level... um, it's definitely higher than it should be for how bad I am.

  • I usually don't pay attention to usernames. If I notice as a killer, I may dodge the lobby or I may just laugh knowing how bored they're about to be in my match and what poor content it'll make. It's unlikely I'll notice, though. I haven't been wearing my glasses while playing, so the screen is mostly a blur; I can't read the names unless I get up close to the TV.

  • I went from 16 with no pips to 17 with no pips. I'm disappointed, I wanted to go back to 20 so I might be more likely to have matches against yellow rank survivors. Instead, I play one killer match and get a red, two purples, and a yellow. Thanks, game. Saturday night is a crappy night to play, anyway.

  • Because [BAD WORD] you, that's why.

But seriously, it does suck. Unfortunately, since it's tied to earning tiers in the Rift, I don't see them ever letting us do multiple challenges at the same time.

However, it would be nice if we could at least separately select a killer and a survivor challenge at the same time. Even better, it'd be nice if at the end of a match we could select one of the available challenges to have our progress count towards. "That match I just had, do I want to have it count towards the gen challenge or the healing challenge? Or holy crap, did I actually complete that pain in the ass Dwight challenge? Woohoo! I'll select that one!" You'd still have to go into the Archive afterward if you want to mark it as completed and accept the BP/fragments and unlock the next nodes, because otherwise you couldn't bank stuff, but it'd be soooo much more user friendly than what we have now.

  • I just want the game to have well written lore. If the character's sexuality is an organic part of their backstory, fine. If it's shoehorned in there or made the sole focus, then that would be bad.

I dunno, usually in online games like this it's best for characters to mostly be blank slates for players to project themselves onto. The more story you give a character, the more you risk alienating someone who likes playing as them. I mean, all the backstory I've read for characters in the Tomes have made me like them less so far (I only read the killers' entries and stopped mid-Tome 2).

  • I've been where you are, using those exact same perks to farm Bloodpoints. (I used Spirit instead of Doctor, though. Phasing alone earns BP, and hitting survivors when coming out of phase earns major BP with Distressing, so it doesn't take much to max out.) I would drag matches out trying to max out Brutality. It's not worth it. Focus on Deviousness and Hunter, they're quick and easy to fill. If you're on console, then you probably have a pretty quick killer queue. Capitalize on that by having a lot of fast matches where you quickly rack up points and move on.

If you have a slow queue, then Legion may be your best bet for earning Brutality (though I personally have a lot of trouble with him, all the problems on console mean I whiff constantly in Frenzy).

  • @YaiPa said:

add on top of the sound bug the downed survivor little teleport bug, in a game where every second matters...

The teleporting is driving me nuts! I spent a good 10+ seconds looking for a survivor in tall grass the other day because they couldn't just be where I downed them, oh no, I look down and the ground is annoyingly body-free.

  • I keep hitting objects lately. I swing my weapon at a survivor and then suddenly my camera's looking at something else. I dunno what it is, if it's the aim dressing or if I'm still not used to the change in sensitivity or what.

I had a daily as Legion and I'd go up to a survivor and I'd hit the generator or the side of the chest instead of the stationery survivor right there and stun myself out of Frenzy. It was extremely frustrating.

([BAD WORD]ing hate Legion on console.)

But yeah, I'm missing a lot of basic attacks and hitting walls and barrels and trees and anything else nearby, instead.

  • And what if you had an AFK survivor who you left alone all match and then they died to the EGC? Are they going to report you then for not literally carrying them to the exit gate and pushing their butt out?

Being reported by an AFKer for daring to play the game. DbD gets crazier every day.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/160258/dc-bans-please-remove-them

d/c bans are a good thing, if you're randomly getting disconnected than its obviously a problem on your side be it your internet or something is wrong with the game files. This is obviously a client side issue and not a game issue. D/C bans prevent people from just leaving the match freely without punishment from d/cing to allow last person to get hatch to rage d/cing essentially screwing your team over, and killer d/cing isn't great either just because they didn't like the map for example

DC bans need to stay, but BHVR needs to fix their game. I'm on PS4, hard wired to the internet. There's nothing wrong with my connection, everything else works fine, but sometimes the game randomly kicks me and I get a timeout for it. It's the game or their servers, not me, and it needs to get fixed if they're going to ban people for disconnects.
