@TragicSolitude I get that. And i understand, it just sucks that we can't even know in QnA's the status of something that was announced and what not, I'm cool if it was scrapped or if it's still being tested, but something would be great.
It does suck that they mention things they're looking into but don't tell us when they decide against it. Like the "beginning game slow down" thing they were look at doing, which got completely scrapped but it took a lot of pestering for them to come out and say so. I've just gotten used to that and when the devs mention things these days I just go, "Oh, that would be cool," and then try to forget about it because it'll probably never happen.
I mean, sometimes the things they actually announce take years. Hell, even things they give us dates on (cough Switch cross-progression cough) become broken promises. So... like I said, at this point I try to assume nothing is coming to the game until it actually goes live.

I don't know if this will ever get answered but does everyone remember when during the 5th anniversary event on the Live Design portion it was mentioned that the team was looking into a revamped and improved Mori Mechanic that would be core to the game? It would rid of offerings and essentially killers would have to earn them and survivors could play into the mechanic optionally? I would love an update on this because it was not mentioned in the last Q&A stream, and we are almost coming on a year since this change was announced to us with no new information. Any mods who can answer this or give a small update would be very appreciated. I love the new ringu content and I am very grateful DBD is able to have so many icons, amazing characters and features in the game today. I have no clue what the 6th anniversary will be like.
we are almost coming on a year since this change was announced to us
The devs often mention they are looking at doing things. That does not mean those things will come to the game. They're not really announcements, more like, "This is our newest drawing hanging on the refrigerator. Isn't it nifty?" There are many ideas they have mentioned to the community that were later scrapped. Sometimes those ideas never get mentioned again.
Until something is in the game, it's best to assume it's a pipe dream.

I've noticed that Switch killers will tunnel Switch survivors.
I dunno how successful that tactic is, really. Survivors are much less handicapped by the Switch than killers are. I've had Switch killers who threw the match because they kept tunneling me or my friend, and despite the fact we were on the Switch we're not complete potatoes and 90% of the killer's swings were still whiffs because, again, killers have more performance issues.

Good to know thanks for the heads up, must be the same coding interaction that was associated with self care which iirc they fixed in a past update though I never tested with self care.
I have no idea if they ever tried to fix the problem with CoH, but I had it happen back in November and reported it: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/292703/healing-takes-priority-over-unhooking#latest

Title says it all if you are trying to unhook a survivor and get hit then go for another unhook you will instead Circle of Healing self care instead costing you the unhook if you were attempting to Deadhard + Borrowed Time combo for example. Not sure on the frequency of this as I've only tried it once on PTB and can't recall being within a CoH boon totems range while also unhooking on live yet.
I've had this happen in the live game.

They said it will take same time as permanent thing to do, and it is temporary because with so many characters it grows exponentially with or without tiers.
Yeah, that sounds right. I was pretty sure the devs said "exponential" but couldn't remember for sure. Thanks. I couldn't check the video myself because I don't have audio at the moment.
Such a frustrating "soon™" response to lessening the grind.
-
I really didn't understand that from the Dev Q&A. "We're not removing perk tiers because we're always adding new perks and we want to reduce the grind in a more permanent way," or something to that effect.
Like, they could remove perk tiers and reduce the grind to 1/3 of what it currently is right now and also still do whatever future thing they're working on to reduce the grind. Why can't we have the immediate though inadequate fix that helps us today while we wait for the better fix that's like a million tomorrows away?
-
I'm having the same problem. Happens when I play survivor. Happens when I play killer. Happens if I play one and then switch to the other. It's driving me nuts. Swamp map three times in a row yesterday, I was done after the first time, forget it.

It's one website who leak everything leak this information
I went and looked out of curiosity. If I'm looking at the same one you did, that site is mostly conjecture. It says "could be" Samara. They're guessing.
It's probably not going to be Samara. She's too young, the devs don't put children in DbD. If it is Samara (big if, it's almost definitely not), she'll be aged up, and then she'll look basically just like Sadako anyway.
Also, it's against the rules to discuss leaks on the official forums.
-
I really, really wish they'd get rid of these offerings. I just had a match on Badham where two survivors burned the purple mist offerings, and my fans got so loud any time my nose wasn't in a wall. I couldn't participate in the match, I just stared at a wall the whole time waiting for them to get the gens done. Thank god killer queues are instant otherwise I'd be annoyed.

I'm just not going to play killer until this is fix. It's miserable.
Anyone has Boil Over and they don't go down under a hook, they get to bleed out for a while. That's how I've handled it so far.
-
I have this same problem. It's practically like I'm stuck in place if someone has Boil Over. If a single survivor gets anywhere near me in an attempt to body block, I am stuck in place.

Hitting Demon Strikes consistently IS the skill ceiling for Oni, the thing that you MUST get down in order to git gud. I don't hit all my Demon Strikes, but after many, many games as Oni I finally get the hang of it. And then you finally start to understand how to hit 'em out of a Demon Charge, which is the best thing in the world. You come charging from half the map away and BAM! Strike and out. Like Lightning from a clear sky. But this has a much bigger margin for error and you wont always get an opportunity for it. Still, if it hits its the best feeling this game can offer.
Even at max sensitivity it feels soooo sluggish trying to aim. The survivor moves slightly and it's a miss. I unfortunately can't use most any killer power where the aim is slowed down or hindered. I can use Nemesis because of the strafe and I can use Blight. But with Oni it feels like the thumbstick is coated in hardened molasses.

You...have an instadown right in your hands.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2807873#Comment_2807873
A slightly harder to hit but very much built-in instadown (not to mention available mid-match) versus one using up a perk slot until the end of the game. Seems like an easy choice to me.
"Slightly" harder? Always feels impossible to me. I can only use his power for map mobility.
But that's why I never play Oni at all. NOED seems like a weird choice for him; I'd assume anyone using him is able to use his power.
-
It would make consoles burst into flames, for one. For another, even the low ambient noises on a lot of maps are confusing and distracting; a loud thunderstorm would be awful for both survivors and killers.

The moment we have Boon:Decisive Strike I'm never entering another lobby without it. As a SoloQ player it's so frustrating to see that 2/3rds of my teammates don't have it when every single match boils down to how fast can the Blight tunnel out the first survivor.
I'd run DS but I can't hit the skill check on Switch. Even on PS4 it's usually a miss. As long as any form of DS requires a skill check, it's like a PC-only perk for a lot of people.
-
Victor should be able to snuff boons. And he should get his own little outfits.

There's nothing like watching a survivor without UE creep away from the gen every time the killer's TR is even a whisper.

Maybe DO have an in game voice chat feature that solos can use, so the gap between solos and SWFs is shortened and then balance around that.
That would hurt anyone who gets into a lobby with teammates who refuse to use voice chat, though. I imagine a lot of people would refuse to use it. I certainly wouldn't touch it.
A chat wheel would be better. And it'd be useful for mixed-language lobbies, unlike voice chat.

Why is that? I keep hearing this excuse without any elaboration all over. Those who "play with friends" will still be able to play with friends (for real this time, without the quotes) in KYF. The only thing they lose is the ability to bully other players. You mean the game will die because the majority of the playerbase only plays to bully other people?
I play with one friend. You can't have a good KYF with two people.
There's no bullying. Mostly we die a lot.
We'd play with bots if it were an option. Make bots an option.
-
There's no in-game chat for them to stop. The devs can't block people from using Discord and they're not allowed to block Xbox or PlayStation chat.
-
They just keep the offerings around so that every time someone uses one my PS4 sounds like it's going to die. Apparently my survivor teammates want me to be unable to hear skill checks and the TR during a match. I guess 3v1 is better for escape rates?

So you play a game where you KNOW anyone can be killed separately, and throw the match when your teammate dies, thereby screwing over the other 2 players?
How selfish.
Hey, the game description on Steam says "Survive Together… Or Not - Survivors can either cooperate with the others or be selfish." That's copy and pasted from the page. If you don't like it, tell BHVR.
But no, actually, I'm not throwing the match; once my friend is dead, that's it, there's no one else but me who's willing to do gens and take aggro. After I've run the killer around and the match doesn't progress because my teammates won't touch gens? Yes, I'm leaving. That's why I want bots, because my teammates never touch gens. So, so many of my matches consist of teammates who crouch around the edges of the map. I've had matches where I don't suicide that have continued on for 30+ minutes because no one touches gens and the killer can't find them but can't catch me. That's not fun. That's boring as hell.

Oh gods no.
Imagine going against SWF with 4 second chance perks, who put 4 second chance perks on the bot, and use voice comms. And then I knock one out of the game, and they take over the bot, which has the same perks they had, and now has the same SKILL as the person I removed, while still being on voice comms.
The 150 Killers left would quit en-masse once they realized SWFs were using 1-2 bot-slots for extra lives.
Who said you get to deck out the bots? They're just bots.
Anyway, it's a pipe dream. It'll never happen. I just hate that I play in a pair with one other person, and we always get the worst teammates. If he dies I usually go up to the killer and suicide because I want to play DbD with him. The "with him" is the important part. It'd be nice if I didn't have to do that just to continue playing the game with the person I want to play the game with.
-
I think SWF should be able to fill the leftover slot(s) in their lobbies with bots. Then, if a player dies before the bot, they can take over the bot. It would be a great way to help solos avoid getting farmed by SWF, it would allow someone in a SWF who dies the chance to continue playing, and goddamn I would rather have bots as teammates because I am so tired of being put in lobbies with players who never touch gens.

Just an update, I had submitted a ticket a week ago about this and today BHVR refunded me the Shards for the head (and removed it from my inventory, of course) and gave me some BP for the inconvenience. I just wanted to let you guys know that 1. they're not dishonest or anything (which I never said they were! just, you know, impulsive) and they did make things right, and 2. if you bought the head before the change and no longer want it, you can submit a ticket and get a refund.
This doesn't change my original post in any way. I do still want the makeup-free Pink Balayage Yui head, and I think in the future they should release an alternate version of something rather than make changes to a cosmetic people already purchased. Customers don't want to submit a ticket and get a refund; they just want to keep the thing they purchased in the first place.

I got to Iri 1 easy as killer on PS4.
I play in a pair as survivor (one of us plays on Switch, the other on PS4), and it was a real struggle to level up our grades. One account has survivor at Iri 3 and the other at Iri 4.
Leveling up killer on the Switch feels ##################ing impossible. I'm still Ash on the Switch.

Pinhead isnt even that good killer, but running to the box while you arent being chased is too hard for some ..
Grab box while Pinhead's busy. Solve it in a strategic location so if he teleports he lands in a terrible spot. Profit.
I kinda enjoyed myself against Pinhead earlier today on Ormond. He was super campy and two teammates were useless and got themselves immediately killed, so it ended up being a hatch game, but grabbing the box and solving it in different areas of the main building was fun. I don't think he ever got value from a single teleport.

If you change your action (pallet) and interaction (disarm) buttons to be different instead of the default same button that won't happen. I'm on ps4 and set them to different buttons awhile ago because I kept throwing pallets when trying to heal someone.
^ This. As survivor, I think I changed it so I press square to vault and drop pallets. No more accidentally dropping pallets while healing, and I've never experienced that problem some people have with doing unwanted actions when trying to break Pinhead's chains. Rebinding the buttons is so absolutely necessary.

i have yet to go a single game without a player running DS, DH, or BT. They are ALWAYS present in game. im sure you'll be fine
I don't care about people running DS or DH, I only care about BT, and I see BT the least of the meta perks. So I do not believe any non-Bill player would use their teachable slot for BT. It would be DS or DH or a boon totem or Unbreakable or even SC (I see SC more than BT). Three Bills or I dodge.
Part of the problem with forcing a character to run their three perks is that then the opposition already knows 3/4 of what's in play, leaving only one perk in question. The moment you see a character use a perk that's not one of their three, then boom, you know their entire loadout. That makes it a lot easier to play around things, which mostly means a lot of people will get a lot less use out of any perk the opposition can counter. Adam will always be hooked first, pallets will never be slammed on Spirit's head. Or if you cleanse Spirit's Ruin, you know any other totems are Haunted Ground. Any killer that runs any perk other than NOED, you know they don't have NOED. Any non-Laurie survivor runs some noticeable perk they didn't come with, you know they don't have DS. In a lot of circumstances players will quickly figure out all the perks they don't have to worry about.

SBMM is definitely worse than the old system.
I just got out of a match with two teammates who spent most of their time creeping around the edge. It took forever to pop the final gen because every time the killer got near the one would creep away (the other one never touched a gen), which ended up with me going on a hook because letting go of the gen on Switch still leads to a grab. And did the one pop the gen that was a hair off while I was being put on the hook? No. My dead-on-hook friend had to run over and do it, at which point the gen had been kicked and regressed. The killer nearly got them, I almost died on the hook. We barely managed to escape, while the other two strolled out the exit gate because of the work we put in.
And if me and my friend had died, we would get worse teammates next match, which means working harder to make up for all the things the other survivors don't do and certainly dying for it. Doesn't matter how bad the killer is when no one else works on gens or takes aggro. Meanwhile, the two who did nothing get better teammates they can piggy-back on. Yeah, this system makes sense.
That happens in way too many of my matches. I wish I had bots as teammates, the bots at least do gens.
-
I agree with this. I want to be able to use Dwightcrow on Dwight, Neacrow on Nea, Mr. Puddles on Clown (this one most of all), Bing Bong Boo on Wraith, and the Pocket Entity (which should be animated, dammit) on everyone ever. Locking the charms to one side really limits options.
Charms that are locked to survivors are the most disappointing, because they're so small and so difficult to see. BHVR should want all charms to go on hooks that way people can actually see the work that went into them.
-
I've gotten a bunch of AFK killers, which is quite unusual for me.

This is just straight up scummy and hopefully Behavior does the right thing, so far Behavior hasn't done that many deplorable things, but this is very morally questionable.
Not sure I'd say scummy. More like a knee-jerk reaction that lacked business sense. They forgot the makeup and added it back, and I guess since they forgot it they thought, "Oh, well, since we didn't notice it was missing in the first place, it must not be a big deal." Except, it is a big deal; it's very noticeable to everyone but them. They didn't realize people who bought it without the makeup probably wouldn't want it with the makeup.
Since it was a knee-jerk reaction, they didn't even stop to think, "Hey, this is a digital product without material costs or overhead. We can just release a second version with the makeup so that everyone gets what they want."
So, here we are. Now I'm having to submit requests to get the thing I bought in the first place because I didn't see the artwork before purchasing to ask, "Huh, is this something they'll change?" This is going to seriously make me rethink putting my Cells or Shards into their pixel outfits, though. Cosmetics aren't gameplay related, but I still apparently can't trust the thing I purchase today will be what I have tomorrow.

I dont think you need 60k options because realistically, people are only gonna pick and play the currently most powerful powers. Like out of the hudreds of perks currently available, no one is running Appraisal. Theres so many unused perks in the game already because everyone wants Ruin, or Devour, or NOED
If I couldn't run my BBQ + Distressing + Beast of Prey + Lightborn build, I would never play killer again. Not even joking.
As a survivor, I would leave any lobby that's not three Bills, because the chance of anyone using their one teachable slot for BT is too small. Three Bills or I dodge.
(Also, I love Appraisal. Chest-looting builds are fun. Limiting perks like this would kill all meme builds.)

What? The worst Boil Over has done in terms of the increased strafing is made it a pain to get through a door. I've never been flung off a platform because of Boil Over.
50% would be fine, it'd solve the issue of people running to a ledge to die while still keeping the effect significant if the killer decides to drop off a ledge later into the carry.
I've never been flung off a platform because of Boil Over.
That's nice for you. I've been flung off platforms because of Boil Over. I have hardly any control over walking if the survivor has Boil Over. Trying to strafe instead of walk forward helps a little, but it's still quite difficult to maneuver.

Wait a second...
"Two of my teammates' keys unfortunately belonged to the camped box and these players are out there to ruin your game."
Only one key is on a jigsaw box. Meaning that 2 players cannot remove their traps on the same box. So that means you're lying and rage quitting or your teammates just give up easily.
You are wrong. What box a key is in is RNG. One box could contain all four keys.
-
On survivor it's WoO followed closely by Empathy.
If we go by just the information given, I'd probably say Whispers on killer. However, if I take the other properties into account, BBQ wins for BP.
-
Yeah, I think SBMM sticks new killers somewhere kinda low middle-ish in the rankings. Theoretically you have to lose a bunch to get properly matched with other players of a similar skill level. Of course, with how queues are, matchmaking is pretty much busted a lot of the time, so even if you do reach the correct MMR for your skill level you'll still probably get suck lobbies.
One of the big complaints about DbD is how miserable the new player experience is.

Same thing happened with Demo's perks, they are now available to all killers regardless of whether or not the player owns Demo.
