  • Bruh, you think the nurse wants to sit there for 450 seconds for you to do 5 gens?

Edit: nvm, looked at the picture, didn't realize those 2 correlated, anyways, just because 3 people DC'd doesn't mean you're entitled to a free escape

  • @Alcuin said:

There's a clear trend regarding recent survivor and killer perks, particularly recent ones. Reassurance and the reworked Off the Record are supposedly META, but they both have meaningful restrictions/downsides that make it questionable if they're even good perks to begin with, especially in solo queue.

Reassurance- To apply its effect, the survivor can't further the objective and actually has to chase the killer. It stops hook progress, gen progress, and the need for game sense on the killer side. This is not a META perk, it's arguably a killer perk. Its positive side should be something that's implemented as simply basekit.

Off the Record- If allows the survivor to tank a hit for 80 seconds after being hooked as long as said survivor doesn't further the objective, again, or engages in team-oriented activities. It deactivates after gens are completed, requires the need to mend if hit while active, and can add an easy stack of STBFL (a real META perk) for the killer, provided he/she is running it. I would perhaps think about running it in solo queue if coordination was in some way basekit and not required by perks.

Dead Hard- Deep wounds again. The survivor makes a good play and it results in rewarding both survivor and killer; extended chase for the former and slowdown for the latter.

There's other ones. None of these perks are that strong. With the patch, longer games aid killers. How's the math work out for solo queue? Three of you go for the unhook, three of you go for the box. Get off the gen to proc Reassurance. Don't the touch the gen to profit from OTR. There's not enough math on the solo queue side. It's all to extend the match which is to the killer's benefit. Compare these perks to recent killer perks, though

No Way Out- A minute of slowdown plus it Tinkers when the exit gate is touched. Meaningful slowdown and the killer's told where to go. As an aside, why do killers still see the aura of the exit gates for the entire length of endgame at this point? Survivor perks deactivate at endgame, where's the "compensation"?

Deadlock- Tinkerer plus slowdown. Generator with most progress is blocked after a gen is completed and the killer is told, "They're working on that one".

Eruption- Slowdown, incapacitation of the survivor working on the gen, and two Tinkerer notifications, both the survivor scream and the yellow aura that tells the killer "You're patrolling this area of the map".

Pain Resonance- Slowdown (buffed since the patch) and a Tinkerer scream. Can also be combined with DMS to eliminate the need for gamesense.

Call of Brine- Tinkerer and slowdown. When a survivor completes a skill check on a gen affected by CoB, it Tinkers and tells the killer "They're on the gen again".

You get the point. "Strong" survivor perks come with meaningful downsides and strong killer perks do two or three things at once. The patch already brought some perks/add-ons as basekit. Couple stacks of Thana guaranteed, tier 1 Brutal, two stacks of STBFL., Compound 33 when injuring a survivor. Add this to the META perks that are two or three perks in one, and killers are playing with 11 perks and five add-ons. This is a balance issue. Thank you for reading.

Hm, almost like they're 4 survivors compared to 1 killer...WOW

If I’m playing against Myers who is trying to get that mori achievement, I end up being the last survivor but I’m jumping into lockers to avoid getting moried. Who is holding the game hostage me or the killer???

I mean, you're being a jerk about not letting Myers get this achievement, but TECHNICALLY I guess Myers is holding the game because as someone said up above he doesn't have to mori you, just grab you and put you on hook

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

People like you are the reason people still run selfcare

That's why you bring inner, even with the cleansing totem time, travel time, and healing time, you still get profit than you would from self care

  • @Regulus47 said:

I think the stun should vary in length based on the killer. For normal M1 killers like trapper and legion it should be 5 seconds, but for ranged and mobility killers it should be more along the lines of 8 seconds. Either that, or disable their powers after the DS stun for 15~ seconds to stop an instant re-down.

Oh, and it shouldn't deactivate for the rest of the match if used once. Absolutely no reason for that now that conspiracy actions deactivate the perk. Most of those actions shouldn't even deactivate the perk in the first place.

No no, they absolutely should, if you were here when that restriction wasn't there, you'd understand

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Make the stun 5 seconds. ######### it, make it 10. Actually punish tunneling, especially since Endurance stacking never left PTB and tunneling is easier than ever.

Now that it deactivates in end-game and any conspicuous actions, make it active upon both hook states, too. If someone wants to tunnel a survivor, then they can eat both stuns.

Eh, I'd say for a buff that big, I feel like the timer should be reduced to like 50 seconds, but that's just me

  • @JakeCannon said:

So sometimes as killer I will be chasing someone (or about to) and they'll point either directly at me , or point at something in a general direction .

Is it a "dude please just chase someone else you're annoying me" OR is it them legitimately trying to show me that I'm wasting my time and should be focused on that area they're pointing at ? Help lmao just so confused

Well whenever I do that, I always point to a survivor on hook and crouch a bit to ask if I can unhook...the killers never go for it, lol

Edit: This is when it's just me and my friend left and there's no hope of winning

  • @Grum said:

Nemesis can down survivors while literally AFK.

Yeah...if the survivors are complete idiots

  • @Espshiva said:

Ok this is from killer point of view so don't come at me, I play both survivor and killer both have been iridescent 1, but a few things I have noticed about being killer.

    Firstly.

Generators need nerfed again, it's not fun when you have been searching the map for over two mins, and found nothing but faded scratch marks, then next thing you know boom, four generators are done back to back, it's basically a lost game after that, especially after the noed/hex ruin nerf, Combined this with toolkits and other survivors the time to complete is not long enough.

    Second.

Yes you fixed the camping with killers but now you have survivors practically lining up underneath hooks while carrying a survivor, blocking off your hooks (is this body blocking - a reportable offence) sabotage I understand and agree with but straight up using yourself to block the hook should not be aloud. From a survivors view, yes, the killer nerf with camping needed fixed and was, but now it's horrendous to play killer and have your hooks blocked off by people sitting under them this need a fix or some sort of penalty for doing this.

    Thirdly.

Dead hard and endurance effects these need looked at again in my opinion, I purposefully don't run this perk because I know how annoying it is to go against, not saying they are bad just maybe changed a little bit more.

This is just my opinion, and like I said at the start I run both killer and survivor.

If you can't find a survivor in 2 minutes, play doc, great searching power

What do you think about a Raggedy Ann style cosmetic?

Not quite what I was envisioning, but this helps gives the idea. Dirty dress (colors would be more muted than this though), torn fabric pieces, button eyes, painted triangle nose (probably with blood--gross).

(Side note: I'm gonna save these people the trouble. There's someone here who wants to say, "They need to delete this whole character, not give her any cosmetics." Or "I care about fixing blah blah blah more than getting cosmetics for a broken killer." Cool. Noted.)

To the rest of you, could you see something like this for her?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/W0IWODD4JU16/doll-via-pinterest-2-450x600.jpeg

I honestly think that would look better on Artist, I'm not sure why, but that's what came to my mind first

  • @Gamedozer7 said:

Even with a full slowdown buill with the toolboxes PT I'm back to losing 2-3 gens in the first chase plus a gen per chase or so. You can say I'm not good but my chases are generally quick and I will leave chase to find a better one. They nerf slowdown and added 10 seconds to gens but left all the gen speed stuff like it was. This gen kick meta is only effective with certain killers plus most the time if you don't camp the gen survivors just tap it and remove your regression.

So before we go nerfing any more slowdown toolboxes and gen speed perks definitely need to be looked at.

Huh funny, all my toolbox progress gets regressed to heck when the killer comes over to the gen I was working on, downs me and smashes the gen, and none of my teammates are there to save it

Yeah, sure, that's what you're doing. You're "reloading", maybe "breaking a few pallets" around the hook, and then "walking away from the hook" (definitely without just aiming a hatchet directly at the hook).

... I'm not, I'm reloading, and going to pressure another gen I KNOW, AMAZING, BUT WE ACTUALLY EXIST

I agree. She's insufferable to play against not only because of crappy hitbox but because they always camp and tunnel.

Because it's Huntress? She is not Blight that can run around and pressure gens all day. Slow killers needs to be where survivors are it's only natural that they are more territorial.

Literally one of her perks is called "territorial imperative" lol

  • @Grum said:

Maybe give more reason for them to be run then! 😀

But really surprised Distortion isn’t more common with the buff. Infinite aura blocking is crazy!

Eh, discordance isn't really a concern though, remember, the effect lingers for ... I wanna say 4 seconds? Which if the survivors hear your TR, and they're chickens, they'll stealth away and probably get away with it by the time the killer gets there

  • @GoshJosh said:

Discordance currently allows a killer to always know when two or more survivors are on any generator at any time. What makes it stand out from many other killer tracking perks is that it has a very common activation condition (this one completely in the survivors’ hands), that is essentially map-wide with no cooldown or restrictions.

What if the perk gave aura reading of the survivors on the gen, instead of highlighting the generator in yellow and giving an explosion notification? It would allow counterplay with Object of Obsession and Distortion. It could also have the aura reading linger for three or so seconds after the survivor stops co-op repairing, to give it synergy with Lethal Pursuer. And should it have some sort of cooldown, to bring it more in line with other tracking perks similar to it?

Counter play with distortion and OoO? Of course, those perks that are never used! Why didn't I think of that

Still complaining about noed when it’s been nerfed to the ground

Eh, that's a bit of an exaggeration, good nerf? Sure, but it all depends on the totems position and survivors position of how fast you can find it

  • @supersonic853 said:

I know when the nerfs were announced some people came to old dead hards defense citing "Ill just run the loop one less time and not greed". Or something like that. But it seems now without that safety net a lot of survivors get caught out very easily. And with the other basekit changes and stuff like brutal strength being more effective (for me personally) i get downs so much quicker. And also people cited "well everyones gonna play sprint burst instead afterwords so nothing will change". But its actually nice to see smash hit, overcome, balanced and lithe fairly frequently. Dead hard held the king spot of exhaustion making it pretty much THE exhaustion pick. So now that the dust has settled how much of a choke hold did old DH have? And in general chase did it have a much bigger impact than you thought?

    Uh... absolutely all the power?

Are you seriously suggesting they keep an abuse in because only good players can benefit from it?

I'm done man. I dont care enough about it why am i arguing it with people that say stuff like this.

I'm saying the killer has the ability to end the chase, and if you can't down survivors efficiently, you probably aren't winning anyways

  • @Dead_Harder said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3132144#Comment_3132144

The killer has seen you but you are good at looping and didnt get hooked. The killer hasnt caught up to you because you are in a pretty good swf and when the killer is going somewhere or doing something its getting properly called out so you book it or hide before the killer is even close.

Thats the scenario. Yes yes i know this only applies to a really small percantage of players.

I was literally just about to say that, nothing game breaking

Literally every survivor on Reddit and the forums have been complaining about camping since the mid chapter update.

None of that even matters since it doesn't change the fact that the game is p2w when it comes to perks. Everyone things Reassurance is good, I really don't care what you have to say about it since this thread isn't arguing about how good Reassurance is.

    Whatever, have a nice day

  • @ThanksForDaily said:

If the devs buff gen speed to 5 mins to complete a single gen, killers will still running 4 gen perks and they will still complaining.

I'd love to see that math actually, lol, imagine getting like a 10 minute gen after the slowdowns, lol

  • @Dead_Harder said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3131648#Comment_3131648

Reassurance means a single survivor can add up to 3 minutes to any hook stage no questions asked. Doesnt matter if you are near the hook or on the other side of the map. If some one is on death hook and the rest of the team is doing fine, its 100% better to use reassurance to keep the guy on the hook than to save them and risk getting them sacrificed.

Reassurance needs a few conditions to not be batshit insane.

There is a question that should be asked, such as why hasn't the killer seen you yet?

  • @itsPina said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3132121#Comment_3132121

End game scenarios or basement scenarios. 99 your sprint burst before you run in and the killer can't even catch you without abandoning the camp.

Do you hear yourself? Sounds very situational to me

  • @itsPina said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3132110#Comment_3132110

So you admit the game is pay to win for about a year til the perks show up in the shrine? A year of dbd is 4 chapters.

Also, out of 100 weeks how many do you expect the perk Reassurance to show up. Maybe 2? You have to be online and near your computer to even reap the benefit of the shrine.

I mean, if you really want the perk without paying, just be patient, it's not that hard, jeez

  • @itsPina said:

@H2H while thats true there is the entire survivor side of the game where perks are all that matter.

People with Reassurance are going to win more against campers than those without. People who paid will win more than those that didn't. Pay2Win!

You have to be pretty dang close to the survivor who's hooked, like if the killer doesn't realize something is up and you're hiding near by...idk how you're getting away with it

  • @itsPina said:

I own all the DLC so this isn't really something I give a hoot about but the game is 100% without a doubt pay to win. Especially so with Reassurance being a 100% effective counter to camping.

The game has always been pay to win, but with the current state of the meta there are hardly any perks at all that you don't have to pay for.

inb4: shrine of secrets blah blah blah, iridescent shards, blah blah blah

New perks can take upwards of a year (if not longer) to show up in the shrine of secrets. That is de facto pay to win. Iridescent shards are fair for original killers, but if recent rumors are true we are going to be getting quite many licensed DLCs in the future. There are plenty of good perks that are on licensed killers too and having to wait upwards of a year to obtain their perks (in a game you already paid for) does not make it any less pay to win.

Couple this with the fact that the grind reduction did not reduce the grind at all (and at the same time actually made it feel worse by removing BBQ and WGLF) while I think this new chapter is great, there is still plenty more work for BHVR to do.

I mean yeah, you said it, just wait for shrine of secrets, it's really not that hard

Lethal pursuer let's us pick and choose the best line of attack early.

BBQ Is nice to maintain pressure but can be replaced with discordance in my opinion. Although you get Less synergy with discordance, you can potentially be more consistent at interrupting survivors but because we're already running lethal pursuer we'll go with BBQ for the synergy tonight.

Jolt is my regression perk of choice for this build because you'll always know where survivors are, you can massively cripple gens if survivors decide to group up.

Floods of rage is nice with BBQ because you can get double aura value from one hook if you manage to get the scourge hook.

Add ons can be whatever you want. Use my suggestion or go double restraint add ons.

Pretty fun build in my opinion. Tell me what you think of it

Eh, you don't really need aura reading for doc, the illusion docs give a lot more value than you think

  • @Konnor24 said:

Simple question. Every single killer ive faced this week has face camped me or others in my game.

I wish this was hyperbole. But its drove me over the edge and ive uninstalled the game. And i dont think ill be coming back.

Weird thing is, i actually play killer more than survivor, so it seems im the last person left who just enjoys the game for hunting, downing and hooking instead of standing there staring at someone on the hook.

So legit question. What is the point in it? Is getting 11k BP while using cakes/BPS and ruining other peoples that important? Before the previous update, i noticed camping was getting more ramptant. I thought the update would make killers camp less. You really dont need to, at least i dont on the killers i play most (Nemesis, Freddy, Doctor, Plague). The update had made me far stronger and even if i dont get a 4k i feel like a threat now. But for the past week out of roughly 30 games i have seen killers face camp at least 28 of those games (at 4/5 gens still to be done might i add)

I dont care about camping end game, it has to be done sometimes. But at 4/5 gens left? Or when 3 gens pop but you still have a 3/4 gen easy patrol?

Im not even the one being camped 9/10 times. But it infuriates me that so many are doing this. 5 years on this game and i have never seen it in a worse state. I like playing with my friends, but out of our group of 14 only 3 play. Well, 2 now that im gone.

My rant aside, please, tell me, why do you need to face camp with 4/5 gens to go other than to be a complete asshat to others?

Why does every single survivor tbag at the gate?

Title. Basically - the killers that you enjoy playing most. What are their flaws/irritations?

I used to main Hag, then Demo, then a few others but now I basically rotate through several killers.

    • Dredge. Just...so much fun, in every way. He'd likely be my #1, but I hate his visual design. Cucumber the Conqueror - too silly.
    • Artist. Infinite skillcap, can always do something better. Love her visuals and audio. Held back by crap addons, which make her a bit one dimensional at times.
    • Demogorgon. I've played him a bit too much over the years, but just...so much fun. Almost the perfect killer, in many ways. Some bleh addons, can feel a little weak against strong groups. Shred misses feel a bit too punishing.
    • Hag. See Demo. Love her, still play a good amount but I'm a bit bored of her. Her addons are either solid but boring, or worse than an empty slot.
    • Nemesis. Took me a while to cotton onto the big boi, but once you have a feel for him, he's extremely fun. Zombies glitching out makes me a sad bioweapon, and certain maps with weird heightboxes are...ugh. Swamp.
    • Trickster. I hated this guy with a passion for a while, but at some point he just 'clicked' for me, now I enjoy him. Hate how often people DC against him.
    • Twins. I often go 'hey, I haven't played Twins for a while, I wonder why?'. Then I play Twins. Then I go 'yeah, I remember now'.
    • Ghostface. So much fun! I hate being revealed by survivors on hook.
    • Myers. I only really enjoy him with VM and Rabbit, but oh boy do I have fun with that. Wish VM was a yellow, struggle to keep this style sustained.
    • Cenobite. Another killer I love, but hate how the second I spawn in someone goes AFK in a locker or cable pulls.

    How about you?

Doc: latency, I know this is something that probably can't be fixed, but gosh, the amount of times I could've gotten a hit if it triggered the 2.5 seconds of ...immobilization?

You just don’t want easy wins taken away from you. The game should be more challenging for both sides. The killers being able to see the survivors aura and not even know that you’re coming for them is unfair considering that killers are much faster than the survivors so there’s nothing they can do at that point except get downed and hooked.

You're not supposed to "hide and seek" there's literally a killer (doc) that can find you anywhere on the map, like...what?

Why should I stay in the game and keep playing when the whole point I booted up the game was to play with them... What if someone DC's at 5 gens? should I really stay in the game and play a 3v1 cause someone DC'd? What if its trickster? Should I stay in a game and play against him... I think not...

The fact that you're excusing yourself for your own mistakes kinda puts you into the same category as those, who do Self-Care in the corner of the map. As always, neither me or you can claim that it's a bad strategy, as it's dependable on the situation you're in.

Unless you do present a clear case scenario, I'm ready to argue as to why using Self-Care is a good strategy when it comes to Solo Queue; Of course, I don't like using the perk alone, I'd always pick Botany Knowledge when I'm at it.. Maybe even Desperate Measures.

I mean, SC is 42 seconds now just by itself, and I think that's even before sloppy, that's alot of time wasted, time you could've probably spent finding a teammate, getting healed, then have like 10 extra seconds to do a gen to gain profit
