  • I am so sad, I hope they reskin the map to be an original. It was my second favorite map...

  • I will miss all the easy games... I just bought Deathslinger though, so maybe it will still be easy, muahahahaha.

It doesn't go to whoever finds it first. It's whoever is closer, and 90% of the time that's survivor. They either vacuum into the hatch at the press of a button, or they get downed right at the hatch and are able to crawl in anyway. Because of this, the fact that "the killer is faster" is not a good argument to say that the hatch is somehow a "killer sided mechanic". I would just change keys to open chests instantly.

People that play this game think hatch is killer sided? What in the actual? You can stand on top of it and spam as a killer and it won't close. As a survivor, you can just run straight up to it and hop in while he is blocking it. Rofl. Surely the people here play the game, no? What kind of crazy McDonald's internet magically lets the killer close it before a survivor hops in?

We have to wait until Spring for the next killer? Drats. And you never lived to see who it was. So unfortunate.

  • No, absolutely not. The only thing I would accept is hybrid franchises. Like, Terminator or Predator would be fine, in my opinion. Mortal Kombat has the right idea. Rambo was a little sus. But I like Rambo, so I let it slide.

  • Were you counting this thread, or?

  • I do not care what perks a survivor is running. Only flashlights. Those scum deserve to be tunneled and camped. Have as much fun as I would have without Lightborn, our lord and savior.

The fact that it's just so much content about FNAF and everyone responds like litreally this when pointing it out is the problem. "WELL I LIKE IT SO IT'S OK TO SPAM THE BOARDS" is all I'm really reading at this point, and I know I'm not alone.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2431445#Comment_2431445

    A) The forums are a very, very small fraction of the player base. That's true for most games, and I see no reason for that to change here. I've been given no evidence of such.

    B) If we really wanted to go the "Well it'll get developer attention" route, it could also get moderator attention when they start purging FNAF threads because it's turning into a FNAF forum, not a DBD forum.

I am more or less alluding to the concept of a sample size. Albeit, they hardly need it. They already know that FNAF is one of the bigger franchises to have a potential killer. So I would say the point is moot. But if I had to pick, discussing something more often gives it more exposure as opposed to not talking about it. Ha ha ha...

If they want to, that is their prerogative. I do not really care too much on any level besides being vehemently anti censorship. But if I had THAT much of a problem with it, I wouldn't exactly be here discussing the game as the first thing I heard about this place was how they heavily moderated it.

  • Fam, I do not want to be rude, but pay attention to how the survivors and killers act in game, and I believe you will realize they don't want "children" in the game for two reasons, one... They are projecting. Or two, they are normal people who want less of those people in their matches. Lol.

This game is already infested with immaturity. FNAF would change absolutely nothing. It is just the low hanging fruit. If anything, the lack of attacks on Hellraiser almost proves the opposite. The FNAF fan base is clearly more mature.

  • At first, my face was melting based on hot the take was... But after reading your reasoning, I say lukewarm take at best.

  • If they nerfed Lightborn. That is the only thing keeping me sane. If I see even one flash light, I use it, and I never regret it. When playing killers I do not own Lightborn on, I only feel pain and regret not dodging the lobby.

The chance that the large, professional video game development company with hundreds of employees and a combined hundreds of years of experience are WRONG, but YOU, the anonymous forum dumbass, are RIGHT, is zero. If you're a noob, you're a noob. Embrace it! Join the other 90% of players who are actually awful at this game. You'd fit right in!

Eh, some of the criteria seems to be shaky, I am getting extremely easy survivors who I need to give time to do gens to let them escape. Got my first couple of head pops as Pig in one match. And yet when I play Leatherface, one of my worst killers that I break out for sacrifice challenges; I am having one of the hardest games of my life and needed to literally sweat to get 1 kill. Albeit, I strongly believe one of them was cheating. But even if they weren't, that is almost the proof. They were so ludicrously out of my league on one of my least practiced killers. I still bump into stuff out in the open.

    It just doesn't make sense.

  • Freddy is definitely stronger than Pyramid Head in my opinion. I love the idea behind Pyramid Head's design, but he is so telegraphed that it is difficult to get anything going against smart survivors that can largely just mitigate his powers.

I feel like Nemesis is slept on despite being the definitive jack of all trades killer with the most lit music.

  • This is objectively false. Discussions on Five Nights at Freddy's will only increase the odds that the developers recognize the demand for the character. It doesn't really matter if people on the forums are mad, that has like nothing to do with their decision making. They want that money, bro.

That being said, you do not realistically need to worry. Didn't the creator retire after people tried to cancel him? That series is going nowhere fast anymore. The hype will naturally die down.

  • If I am going for kills and you DC because you are throwing a temper tantrum because you got killed, I do actually take pleasure in the fact that the developers ironically put you in a time out. If only there was a little dunce cap icon on your character so everyone else in your new lobby realized you rage quit your last game, only change I would make.

I'm confident that it's a BHVR issue. Moat other games that are available on Xbox for console and Xbox for PC have cross progression. And by most, I mean I can't think of a single game that doesn't but they might exist and I'm not aware of it. One of the biggest selling points for having Xbox Game Pass for console and PC is cross progression and even though DbD is available on Game Pass for both, it has no cross progression. It would be in Microsoft's interest to allow it. So I really can't see Microsoft being the reason for no cross progression at all. It must be BHVR.

This, but Sony is the problem. Same thing happened in Overwatch.

It's all me and my friends have gotten and we are sick of it. All 3 of us preferred When we got matched with people who were good at the game because when we got hooked we actually had a chance to play afterwards, now as soon as we go down we might as well just walk away because we won't get to play even if we get saved.

Sometimes we get the match that is ACTUALLY fair, but that doesn't happen enough to matter.

If "Skill Based Matchmaking" goes off of peoples skill, why are we getting killers who's only "Skill" is camping?

And before you say "JuSt DoN't gO dOwN" There's only so long you can run the killer before you have nothing left on the map.

Tunneling, camping, and slugging are the most efficient methods to win. If your mmr is high, you will run into killers with high mmr. It also seems to care about kills more than hooks, because I have been getting easy survivors myself and I spare a lot of people nowadays.

  • I am extremely happy. The map is... Beautiful, I guess. I love it as survivor, at least. I didn't buy Leon or Jill, but I get to kill them all the time. So that's nice.

Nemesis is probably my second favorite killer behind Freddy. He just has so many layers and is super fun to play. His music is lit and the games feel really fast paced with all the vision and slowdown built into his kit.

The chapter itself had a lot of performance issues and the event was a little bland, but at least I was able to finish most licensed killers during the event. Still need lightborn on Pig and Michael is only level 34 (didn't want his perk to dilute the pool for Pinhead).

This is one of several reasons why I just don’t farm. The number of naive survivors that trust a “farming” Bubba alarms me.

I had a 3 stack randomly indicate they wanted to farm with me while I was on Leatherface. I found it extremely odd they trusted me too. The only one that didn't was the rank 1 in the lobby, but after he did a few gens, he joined in on the "fun."

I let them all go. It was Lery's. My heart sank when the map loaded in and I didn't really want to play anyway. So it was the one time I farmed with no disconnects.

  • I will give it a try if I run a newer killer without lightborn. But I usually run lightborn if I see even one flashlight. I don't trust those animals.

  • It was probably a genuine disconnect. He is running the dream build. Once I get that going on a killer... Rawr. I cannot wait.

Sorry I just don't get this argument that DBD is "just casual and fun" when one sides success depends on teamwork and goes down the drain due to selfishness.

It's the same in league of legends, rainbow six siege and wimilart two sided team based online pvp games even in normal queue were a team gets screwed over by disconnects or Afk. Therefore for example lol has also a DC penalty even in normal queue and R6s allows team refills in normal and has a penalty in ranked.

Casual and fun online pvp games are free for all's with or without squads like PUBG/fall guys/Fortnite or the like. There it really does not really matter when one does DC.

Indifference and irresponsibility due to online anonymity and so on is and grows more and more rampant.

But this feeling of responsibility in team games for me might come from my age and due to that getting to know PvP games in Lan parties were i know everybody and similar to real life games like soccer, were it would mean a loss of "social standing/reputation" to repeatedly ragequit until noone wants to invite or play with you anymore. A feeling that most people today never knew and therefore don't care about anyone but themselves in online gaming.

That is why I am playing Dead By Daylight... You know the killer doesn't rely on a team, correct? If you want to avoid playing with survivor mains, don't queue survivor. You will have much more fun hanging those types of people on meat hooks than you would working with them. Trust.

  • It depends. Lobby of chill survivors? I don't mind letting everyone go. One flashlight using jackanape? I am salty if I got 3 kills and them on hook state 2. They deserve to DIE!

Correction, it's not safe against a good Nemesis.

For real, that's like the only thing he has going for him besides Zombies giving you info every once in a while.

He is a ranged killer with movement speed that doesn't resemble a crippled slug. Late game, being able to move at standard speed without needing to 3 shot on his ranged attack assuming you consistently infected people is a really good asset. And you get vision and slowdown on vaccines regardless. He has a lot going for him, people just don't like his early game and feel it sets him back too much to compensate for that late game dominance.

Not to be that guy, but how long would you have to wait at hatch until you realize the other survivors aren't leaving? At that point it's just self-sacrifice.

Survivor mains probably don't realize how long those clowns stick around. If you play killer and ever experiment with playing Wreck It Ralph while they wait, you would easily understand they will try to stay until the last possible second. A normal survivor main could be forgiven for underestimating their will to twerk into the void. I wouldn't exactly call it common knowledge unless you were in on the playstyle.

  • The console performance is not as bad as it was during the 5th anniversary. Wish it was as smooth as it was once they fixed it, but eh... I will take what I can get.

  • @WeenieDog said:

It really is a double standard when people talk about survivors DCing because they don't like the killer, but axing the match because they don't like the map offering is A-OK.

The difference is survivors arent crashing the lobby. No idea how people can defend that over someone leaving the game. It is insane how screwed those priorities are.

  • Time to cross off Pinhead as well. Also, Critters? You are a man of culture.

  • I wouldn't mind, at all. But I think Spirit covers it nicely. Kind of like how I don't need Jason as Trapper does an alright job. Albeit, Billy was never going to fill Leatherface's shoes.

  • It depends on what you enjoy doing. I enjoy having a masked presence, teleporting, and trapping. Freddy does all of that the most consistently. I prefer Ghostface turning off terror radius and red stain whenever you want. I prefer Demogorgon's teleport map control. And I prefer Hag traps as a set up.

But Freddy does all three. Demo has minimal stealth coming out of the upside down. Hag has no stealth. I like all of the above characters and play them all quite a bit, but Freddy is my king.

  • I would assume kills are favored over hooks given the opponents I am facing.

Tbh it looks kinda meh... dont get it why ppl are so hyped or happy for Pinhead.

I am optimistic, but only because I think he would make a really fun killer with his powers and fit the art style of this game well. If he looks awkward or unfun, my hype will probably die down. Just need to see that gameplay to get my actual feelings. The potential is really high, however.

  • Posters of women wearing less than they should. A lava lamp, some bean bags, and cute psychedelic kitten pattern wall paper. An old juke box that provides some funky music while I am dismembering survivors with my chainsaw. I believe people would feel very comfortable in my killers basement. Oh, and make the hooks pink.

  • I would have an easier time getting the 4k on a tournament level SWF than respecting if someone liked a horror franchise I also liked.

Even in this scenario, a camping Bubba should never get more than a 2k if the survivors are at all intelligent, and assuming the first person hooked did not go down in 5 seconds right at the start of the match. Bubba also cant take advantage of ruin/other gen regression and face camp unless you are doing a gen right next to the hook.

The only exception is if the people on hook kill themselves, which is usually what happens when I play solo unfortunately. Survivors do this rewarding the killer with more kills, and usually salt, so they keep doing it. Simple behavioral psych. If people want to get rid of 95% of camping Bubbas then the community needs to stop rewarding them for doing it. (Even attempting once at the end of stage 1 can save the killer a lot of time and help them out when they are face camping, due to how much of your bar it eats).

Survivors are rarely intelligent, however. Blood Warden is the most underrated perk despite the way survivors play making it a guaranteed 3k, at least. The only way you miss someone is some rng nonsense like a 4% or hatch. Which is what face camping Bubba should be running over gen regression. Rofl.

  • @WeenieDog said:

You sure that isn't your true rank? Because my games have been the opposite.

I have a similar experience where the survivors are extremely weak. I could more or less perform decently well at red and purple ranks with merciless killer while playing nice, and now they are giving me survivors who don't have time to do all gens by time everyone is second hook state and they are letting people enter another hook state which I don't pay attention to, so I have accidentally killed a few of them.

Is it my true rank? Probably. I mean, I am playing to mess around and do challenges. But it is not my "true" rank as the matches are not balanced in the slightest.

  • Queue Hello, Zepp.

It was a 4 man swf the entire time, but one of them queued killer. They dodged lobby after lobby just to find each other so they could play a game. For far too long have solo players thrown their games when not everyone was online, so now, they want the solo player to feel what it is like to have the world against them. To survive is simple, all you need to do is run the killer for 5 gens and hope they don't bodyblock the exit gates. Live or die, make your choice.

  • Why ask a question, only to answer it in your post? Because you could not think of a creative way to criticize the decision.

Im all seriousness, I agree. I had someone getting triple hit by a zombie and then slide across the floor because of egregious lag. No clue if they were from Zimbabwe or what, but... Yeah, not very stable.

  • @Orion said:

Iconic killers, by definition, are not "modern". Age+Influence is the bare minimum for something to be "iconic".

I more or less agree, but Patrick Bateman is easily iconic enough to get in the game. Bigger than Candyman and everyone was obsessed with him before they realized we were getting Hellraiser.

Albeit, he is over 20 years old at this point. No idea why OP is so obsessed with something being "modern" if it came out in 2000 instead of 1999... But I digress.

  • I think it is insane that they referenced 1987 knowing that fans are hoping for FNAF. I guess it goes to show they definitely don't know what is going on in their community.

But yeah, blatantly Hellraiser. And no, they wouldn't get in legal trouble for referencing a franchise on social media. Lol. As THAT seems to be the concern for whatever reason.

  • Who cares what that one person thinks. If someone refuses to take hatch, just hook them? I have never had that happen to be fair. Survivors view their priority over hatch as one of the biggest influences of skill expression. Most of them LOVE it.

  • @Kalinikta said:

Euhm... I bet you that there are more killers that are nice every once in a while than there are survivors.

When do you ever see survivors being concerned with the killers enjoyment and adapting their play?

I have only ever had one survivor give me a pity kill. Lost count of how many killers let me go. And I play killer almost exclusively. That is a lopsided discrepancy and a half. Heck, maybe only 25% even give a free hit at the end despite waiting at the exit gates for me to see them off, and SOME percentage of those are quite clearly accidental.

Heck, survivors are still trying to be toxic to me while I am going out of my way to play nice. They are odd creatures indeed. Luckily for them, I prefer playing for hooks anyways. I am not afraid to mess one of them up if they annoy me too much though. I will seriously drop what I am doing, hard face camp, and tunnel them out of the game. Better hope you are a God looper if you deny one of my precious hooks.

  • I am getting survivors that can barely keep their heads above water while I am playing fair.

  • I wouldn't mind after the match, just to sate my curiosity. Prior to the match? Nah. Waiting in that lobby is annoying enough as is.

  • @ScottJund said:

Because it is nearly impossible for an automated system to detect player skill in this game.

Same goes for any game, really. But most mmr systems are inherently flawed due to that fact.

  • Candyman was a better movie, 100%. But Pinhead is actually iconic. Candyman is a third rate horror icon with a fourth rate deck. As much as I prefer Candyman, I am glad they chose Pinhead.

  • 4 unique hooks to proc my precious Barbecue and Chili. That is what I consider a moral victory. A win, I guess would be 2 unique hooks on everyone. That is usually when I let people go if I didn't mess up the count.
