  • Killers were underpowered for so long. Killers complained it felt bad.

So behaviour took the quick approach of letting killers score easy so they wouldn't feel bad about their loss. You don't have to do much at all as killer to black pip. This is also evidenced by how they changed the words from something like "humiliating defeat" to "entity displeased" - doesn't sting as much.

They've made some strides in terms of balancing the game  but the scoring system is still too generous.

I feel like the forums have started to run out of things to complain about..

We have lots to complain about, especially when they keep taking what we say with "a grain of salt", or twist what we say to be something different, or simply just dismisses it.

I don't think they read the forums mate sadly

Thats what they say they do, in case you didn't know, besides - how can they they answer a few few questions on the the Q&A devstreams every now and then if they don't read the forums? They do read the forums, problem is, that they take what we write with "a grain of salt" - thats been said on several devstreams now. It's also been said that they do sometimes use what we suggest, but with their twist on it (because apparently they think they know better than the majority of the community who participate in the PTBs). Other times they're completely dismissing our concerns, feedback and so on, certain devs that is, which happen to be those who have the authority make decisions for the game.

They read every response, and they take concerns into it, but if an idea is stupid, or won't work for w/e reason etc they're not going to adopt it.

"i want to never play against killers who beat me" is that what you're saying?

No it's "I don't want to be singled out and mori spammed  or hit repeatedly on the hook because this manchild is upset that I called him a camper 30 minutes ago where he facecamped all game".
  • Lol. Steam is too popular to be ditched.

Possible they would also make the game availabe on Epic store though.
  • All of the coldwind maps need to be looked at. They're outdated now, from a time when the game was less balanced.

Rotten Fields especially is an abomination.
  • I asked for this too. I had to change my steam name due to people holding a grudge. No word from Behaviour at all.
  • No add-ons and offerings definitely affect them. If I use Pinky finger or iridescent heads I'm 100% guarenteed to get a Coldwind map.
  • Sure why not. Never know when it might help.
  • I dunno. On one hand it sounds like a nice buff

On the other hand I'd be pissed if someone went around stealing my item while I was being chased 😄
  • If they pull that on me then I try to go harder on them in game ;) also at that point the gloves are off, camp - tunnel becomes acceptable.

If you really don't like it though just quit out while it's loading.

4 P3 claudettes with the best toolboxes and a macmillan offering and thick mist can really screw you if you aren't prepared.
  • ^What Dehity said. I've seen other people do larger comparisons too with 50 bloodwebs, basically non real difference. We're talking like 3 more green but 2 less red surprisingly....so numbers that you'd expect from purely random chance.

I myself prestiged a character to 3 and noticdd nothing.

So unless you want the cosmetics, don't bother.
  • Bump

So do you lot intend to do anything about this?

Because I intend to keep disconnecting, and you say once you get dedicated servers you intend to punish disconnecting more so.....might as well be upfront with people now so I can choose to stop spending money on the game.

SWF with OoO breaks the game.

It's only good for fun builds, not long term viable builds.

Sorry I should have stated I was doing this for a fun build, I was looking for tips because going against SWF take all of the fun out of them.

    Nothing you can do then.

They'll easily be able to co-ordinate to take them out together and the devs couldn't give a flying #########. To them swf is just as balanced as solo
  • And this is why many of us are getting fed up with solo survivor. It's just not worth it.

  • So I was wondering if anyone has tips for countering this since I have had to stop using hex perks.

Thats the counter right there, stop using hex perks.

At the very most use 1. (Or 2 if the second is Thrill or HG). Having loads is too much to defend and leaves you perkless. It's only good for fun builds, not long term viable builds.
  • Why not? It works on other games just fine, but for DbD somehow not
If you own a game but your brother does not own it, he can download and play the game + dlc

However if he owns the base game, then he can not share the dlc.

Dlc sharing only works if the person wanting to play it doesn't already own the base game.
  • Lmao DS can NOT truly be countered. That's the entire issue with it. Enduring lessens the sting but that's it.

You can not win high rank games as killer by just walking around and hooking people 12 times. You need to snowball pressure.

Decisive Strike requires no effort on the part of the survivor and can undo all of the killers effort in an instant. Just the other day I had 1 on hook, 1 slugged, I carry 1 towards a hook, take a DS, he manages to tap M1 to pick the other up, and they pull the other off the hook and I was back at square one again. All that from 1 survivor pressing 1 button.

It also grants them a free victory if the exit gate/hatch is open and there is not a single thing the killer can do about it other than pray they miss the skillcheck.

And multiple DS hurts a killers momentum and time-effiency so bad it can cost them the game.

You must play survivor because only survivors can't see what's wrong with it. I get that. I've tried it as a survivor, it doesn't feel thst powerful for you in the grand scheme of things. Its just one escape.

As killer you feel how bullshit it is though. Literally anyone whose ever played videogames knows how bullshit it is. It utterly shafts the killer and again there is no reliable way to counter it. It shouldn't be in a videogame. Any designer worth his salary knows this. So the most shocking question is why is it in a videogame as big as DBD?

Decisive strike is the kind of perk that a 12 year kid would dream up one day thinking it would sound cool.

I can not believe a team of grown men (and women) actually sat down from start to finish and designed and implemented a perk like this and left it in the game for TWO ######### YEARS!
  • You can't family share dlc.
  • Don't want to sound like an ### but, maybe increase your rank?  Rank 10 and below I've never been face camped, unless you count when the exit gates are open but even I do that. Most killers realise that camping gets you only one garunteed kill, and when it does it barely gives and BP. Face camping only occurs around rank 10 and below, when someone is being extremely toxic or, exit gates are open and the killer wants at least one kill.
Camping occurs at all ranks. It can be worse at low rank though no doubt.

Ranking up isn't a good solution here's why...

You rank up. Like I did last month.

The devs decide to push a button on the 13th, you go back to green.

Don't play it for a week because I have other things to do...

Now what? I need to go through an army of noobs just to get to a rank where there is a chance of having less camping.

The problem is that you need to go through a number of games to get to a decent rank and it simply isn't fun.

You watch your teammates go down every 10 seconds. You're trying to do gens and rescue them at the same time.

And at the end of it all? Your team dies and you gst stuck with a long and tedius hatch crawl, followed by a nice 10 minute standoff as the noob on the other end decides that after the hard work effort he went through to facecamp everyone out of the game he now somehow deserves the 4k.

It doesn't feel like fun. It feels like a chore.

If I didn't get reset every month then I'd do it. Whats the point at the moment though? I'll only go back to green at reset, and again the month after, and the month after that etc

So it starts to feel like work. Where you feel you have to slug away and sit through ######### just to get to a rank where the game might become enjoyable.

Theres no problem as killer because killer is fine to play ranking up. Solo survivor however....

Theres also the fact that the game needs to be enjoyable for newcomers. If they start playing and during green ranks they just get camped to death they'll quit playing and there won't be any future players to replace those who are leaving. The community will die.
  • Hillbilly is strong because back then they tried to make strong killers to play, not "fun" killers to play against.

Lol back when? Back when the other options were Wraith and Trapper and infinites were a thing?
  • Crossplay would cause imbslance though. I'm pretty sure it would be easy for PC Mouse+KB users to 360 console players with analogue sticks and low framerates.

Imagine Legion having a brawl with Tapp, Jeff, David and Jake...

Thats a huge reason no one is afraid of them.
Isn't "Legion" a gang of late teens/early 20s hoodlums? Yeah he looks scrawny too. David would KO him.

Not that DBD makes sense. Trapper is about 8ft tall and looks like he can bench 1000lbs yet he fails to push a 5ft something Laurie out of the way when shes standing in front of the hook.

  • Let's just give people reason to never ever leave the hook.  Two minutes to finish a gen?  The only counter to someone hard camping is to slam gens.  You need to learn how to apply pressure, not create more of a M1 simulator.
    True.

But therein lies the problem that not all killers are good at creating pressure. By that I mean it's obviously much easier with Billy than Wraith.

People want to use chracters they like though. Which is understandable.  But eventually they need to accept that against a strong SWF team they're going to have to play much better with a weak character to win.

Which again is why the devs can create characters for fun but there does need to be a good supply of strong killers
  • Ryuhi said:

Well, you kinda can. I've seen hyperlooping survivors just as often as I've seen stupidly altruistic ones. The biggest issue is that the latter completely cripples the former, which is where a lot of the frustration comes from. There's no worse feeling when you had a 4 minute chase finally end, you get hooked, and zero gens got done but you have all 3 claudettes squatting in a circle around the hook waiting to fight over who gets the unhook points.

Exactly. One weak link can break the team.

Due to how ranking works killers always seem to get 2 higher ranks and 2 lower ranks too.

So they'll be looped all game if they make the mistake of chasing 2 of them causing frustration.

But they'll easily be able to pick off the two weaker members and slow down the gen progress massively. This leads to tunneling....which in this case you can't really blame the killer for.

Its not so bad in red ranks because you mostly only get fellow red ranks there but after reset watch as you rank up and notice how at level 9 or so you'll get two level 12s and two level 2s. Its easy to tell right off the bat whose high level and who isnt as well, you can tell very quickly by their movement.

  • Haha fair point.

When I first started I had that tune stuck in my head when I got looped over and over.

just because a survivor farms another off a hook in front of a killer, it doesn't mean the killer must capitalize on the event.  unless of course, they are desperate.

    Are you serious?

You think that's how a killer should play?

Just watch the survivor make bad plays and let them get away with it?

So the survivor show no "fear"(respect?) of the killer and rescue right beside him and he should show "mercy" and let the rescued go to take on the much harder chase?

    WHY?

    Just to make survivor happy?

And in the end he will get tbagged at the gate and get an "gg ez baby killer" in the after match chat??

it's called sportsmanship but i suppose you love hooks dropping when you are about to hook someone.  they play like that, then yes i'll drop all that but acting like a desperado garners no respect from me.

Serious? "Sportsmanship", in a horror survival game that is based on slasher movies?
The evil incarnate, psycho, serial killer should act like a "good sportsman"?

Well if you want to go down that route...

In most horror movies the killer chases their victim. They don't just sit around waiting.
  • An extra 40 seconds per gen?

Put this in the "balance = 4k" category.

And the next big change we need is for them to delete DS. No nerf, just delete.
  • The Feng army out in full force again.

Camping is a choice, even if we were able to see killers profile before game and it said "+great killer" etc etc.

During that game they could decide to camp someone, so it wouldn't matter much if you could see their profile before hand. Just check their profile once you load in and if it's bad, either DC or don't be the first person they find and do gens.

Well it would at least stop harassment.

You get games where a killer will single you out just because you've had a run-in with them before. I shouldn't havr to change my steam name to avoid this.
  • You really need to get off your high horse buddy. All you do is come in, brag about your vast "encyclopedic knowledge, then talk down to everyone with a condescending attitude and make out that nobody is smart enough to understand your superiot intellect.

Good killers don't get looped for 5 gens.

And @Visionmaker was right. Either survivors are all dumb and stupid or they're all elite esports players capable of rushing gens in 90 seconds. You can't have it both ways. Pick one.
  • Because I've grown to hate Claudette.
  • @DocOctober

    "Frankly i dont care"

    Wow what a toxic attitude.

And as for you line about...

"They have no right to use that line until they stop playing like idiots"

This could easily be applied to killers too. Allowing 1 survivor to loop them for so long then moaning the gens are done. Wasting time chasing the obsession first. Sat camping a hook and not applyingnpressure to other survivors etc

    It works both ways.
  • I've only started using her so I don't have all the perks but I've been taking...

    BBQ & Chilli
    Nurse's Calling
    Enduring
    Spirit fury

Got Stridor last night so I've been experimenting with that. If its good I might drop a perk for it.

The former build works good though. Enduring for if you get stunned while mindgaming a pallet, but mostly for Decisive Strike.

BBQ for finding new victims to sneak up on

Nurses works great due to her low terror radius

Spirit fury is good but not as needed on her imo

@godren It kind of does make him broken though. They can learn against other killers. Hard to learn how to play against Billy when people are going down to a chainsaw every 30 seconds.

Lets not pretend a good Billy can't do the same at high rank too. Turn things around in an instant with his speed and instadowns.

There's no reason for Billy to be so much stronger than every other killer. Nurse is her own thing, she's gonna be harder to balance due to her blinks but Billy is easy to compare and he's so much stronger than everyone else.

so he is broken because of potato survivors a who cannot loop and use windows and insta go down to a chainsaw. yea lets also nerf freddy more because there are still a lot of noobs who cannot play against him. nice logic.

It's widely agreed that freddy is weak and there are many who argue Billy is OP. So its not just about low ranks.

Again Billy has unlimited speed burst and instadowns with a very forgiving hitbox.....wheres the downsides?

Hes above and beyond any killer than can't teleport.

I'm talking about Survivors of course. I've been playing a couple of games tonight as Solo Survivor and I honestly have [BAD WORD] had it with my fellow Survivors.

5 games had bad Killers who couldn't catch Survivors for #########, but still, the Killers ended up with 3-4 kills each round even though at the time of the Exit Gates becoming powered, there were still 3-4 alive.

I don't understand how you guys have the audacity to complain about how difficult your Survivor life if you throw games as soon as you get downed, don't cleanse totems and get caught by NOED or are so immensely altruistic that instead of just getting the [BAD WORD] out and sacrifice one of your team mates, you hang around for desperate unhook attempts that more often than not end with another 1-2 dead Survivors in the end.

I'd really prefer it if you guys could man up a bit, grow a pair, make the game more enjoyable for the Solos so that we don't have to hope "please don't be another group of idiots, please not another bunch of stupid Survivors" each and every single game we play.

It's no surprise that the average game ends with 2.5 dead Survivors if you guys practically [BAD WORD].

Well, survivor mains in this forum repeatedly tried to remind you that not everybody plays like the depip squad. Survivor mains themselves were the ones who were saying that playing solo was unbearable and their teammates were potatos. It is forum killers that come up with the worst case scenarios that could happen to killers and want to balance the game around it.

Now the same forum killers think that the hatch is completely unfair and should be eradicated because the work that the survivors do is not enough for them.

Just like you hope that the next match you don't get another stupid survivor team, survivors also hope that they don't get another unskilled camper and tunneler and actually play the game with generators, chases, savings etc. I tried to leave the match as soon as possible so that I wouldn't get the same camper over and over again.

I just thanked a huntress today just because she didn't camp in the Lery's today.

There is not much difference between survivors and killers. Threads like this serves no purpose either.

You thanked a huntress for not camping.....hilarious because I did the same a few days ago

That's how bad the game has become, where you have to thank killers for not camping.
  • It's more of a loyalty reward, the same way buying the dlc pack gives you a free cosmetic over buying it seperate.

Plus yeah we're talking a small amount. Not enough to make it p2w but just enough to give people a nice little boost.

You need to save up 1million BP, and then you need 8k shards to buy 4 perks you own to convert it into 600k - and that gets a character to around level 50.

Thats 1 out of 2 characters though, remember you get a survivor and a killer

But thats a best case scenario. All the streamers do that because they own everything. For noobs like me I'm broke in-game lol. It's gonna take me ages to do both of them.

And in terms of P2w, without praying you get lucky on the shrine, some of the most powerful perks have to be paid for. It already kind of has a p2w advantage.
  • Ah, I see someone just bought the Leatherface dlc
  • No. The game can be hard enough for solo survivor as it is.

I'd hate to be thrown in with more casual players and have my team wiped out in 10 seconds. At least when they buy the game there's some form of investment to give them a reason to get better.
  • @MrMyers

  • I understand where you're coming from on that, but bp have always been something that you earned through gameplay rather than getting the bonuses from paying money. I think this would work far better as a 'loyal player' reward either by leveling up your dedication/play level or logging in and playing a match every day. We already have things like that in the game right now, but it's the closest I can come to giving an alternative idea.
As long as they give more BP I'm happy. :)
  • I'd really like my hoodie to have an anti-camping slogan on it.
  • 1) get behind cover
    2) like huntress, dont run in a straight line
    3) hide

I've been gen rushed with no hits on survivors with Billy, it all depends on the group of survivors.

He can still hit people even if they don't run straight due to add-ons and the fact that the reach on his chainsaw is VERY forgiving.

He used to be kept check by the game being survivor sided. Now with pallets changed, loops changed, vacuums gone, vaults changed etc , and add on top of that more anti-loop perks like spirit fury and bamboozle, his weakness is being covered well leaving only his strength.
  • Crotus Prenn. Standard maps, easy to see, walls thst can be mind-gamed.

  • Simple thing, can we have anti map offerings. That way if we do a certain playstyle, or just really dislike a certain map, we don’t have to play it.

I would love one for haddonfield specifically, i get that map in over 40% of my games and its honestly quite annoyingg.
Tbh after playing this game for so long it seems like the maps are predertermined to some degree in favor of the killer, respectively.
I hardly ever get Coldwind Farm with Myers, but I’ll get it more with Billy than any other Killer.
