  • @CornChip

    Agree 1000%.

It's a consolation prize for a crap game, and if it was gone I'd never ever touch solo survivor ever again.

I'd rather take 1 less killer as killer than lose it as survivor.
  • As others have said, it's needed.

When you play a lot of killer it can be frustrating losing a kill to the hatch. However when you have a few crappy games as survivor, with killers who camp, or teamnates who farm, troll or are just extremely bad then you're really glad it's there.

It has to be there to give the last few survivors hope. If someone disconnected early or was AFK and died with 5 gens left there would be almost zero chance of escape for the remaining survivors. This gives them at least a little reason to play on.

It's ok to slug if you want the 4k that badly. If the survivors get screwed by a disconnect or troll teammate though please don't slug for the 4k. It's really awful from the survivors perspective and actually makes you look sad and desperate. Let them have a pity hatch for being screwed.
  • The real question is, when do we get the Christmas outfits?

I'd hate to think it was the actual developers who came up with such a ridiculous perk that would go on to taint the game for over two years.

Just because you can be an [BAD WORD] it doesn't mean you should.

How about you all just be honest and say you camp and/or tunnel because you just want to.

Lol it's the same people everytime. They're always complaining killer is too hard too.

I'm sure there's a link between them saying you need to camp/tunnel to win and them saying that killer is impossible to win.

Yeah. I was especially distraught regarding the difficulty of killer when I made a previous topic (locked, obviously), demonstrating that you can just camp your way through all the ranks as Leatherface, stress free.

Nice try at putting words in someone else's mouth, though, sir/madam.

I've also noticed that someone has changed a particularly toxic comment on their profile after getting called out for it. Red Hill Zone evaded, Sanic.

Not sure what you're talking about there but I do find it amusing how it's often the people with Freddy avatars who defend tunneling

Seriously, people were upset that deep wounds wasn't a 'healing action' like snap out of it (which makes ZERO sense) so instead of making it a healing action, they decide to remove the snap out of it and wake up as healing actions??? Why? So we no longer can say "but this does it"?????? I'm so confused.

Btw, here's a definition of mend:
    "return to health; heal."

    Oh.
But mending isint a healing action.
    Ok.

Yep, they twist logic upside down just to protect their precious survivor.

    Bloody hell calm down lad.

Doctors only counter to his madness was lockers. With the new perk lockers will becomd extremely dangerous - revealing your location and leaving you exposed.

He will probably be better off.

Plus what kind of good survivofs healed in his terror radius anyway? Especially when most took distressing.

They almost made a viable change, but then they remembered that the game can be pretty spooky without someone holding your hand :3

That is ridiculous. If mend ticked down fully while mending you'd be buggered. You'd have what, 20 seconds in which to get away from the killer and fully heal? and it takes 15 seconds to mend. So you'd have 5 seconds in which to run away and find a place to mend fully.

Sounds like a well-thought out mechanic all around, sir/madam!

(By that, I mean the general concept of Deep Wounds)

    Have an awesome :)

I'm not going to disagree with that.

A killer who can sprint at 120% speed and vault pallets.....yeah that's going to be an easy one to balance.

See I still don't get that. Who cares that he can vault pallets? All he can do is just hit you and drain all his power while you lose a small chunk of a timer that doesn't even go down while he's chasing you. Its not like you can vault the pallet, cancel the power, and still hit the person - they're long gone on the other side at that point.

That's the point. You introduce a character who can sprint and vault pallets and suddenly you have to put a cap on how much harm they can actually do which renders it useless. He'd be too strong if he could actually hit them properly so instead we get this.

You'd think at that point the idea would have been scrapped. Instead they tried to make it fit and here we are...

So yeah another morning of facecamp after facecamp after facecamp. Great game you got here btw, great community too.

When you look at the killers profile many have comments enabled and its just one huge wall of people posting things like "-rep camper" or "-rep camps all game".

The camping in your game is so bad it's unbearable. Everyday I try to be optimistic about survivor but I always feel like playing it less and less.

At least if we could see the profile we could have an idea of if we want to play with such a toxic person or not. Killers can see survivors profiles its only fair that survivors can do the same.

Sure, but only when the killer can see SWFs

Probably wouldn't work as they'd get lobby dodged to oblivion.

But otherwise I'd be down for that. I play solo and get accused of being SWF for no reason. Sucks when someone tbags the killer and they take it out on the team by camping then explain after the game how they thought we were all friends.

SO you wanna see killer names to lobby dodge killers, but dodging SWFs is not ok?

Did I say that? I said the SWF would be lobby dodged to oblivion by the killer community, not me personally.

Also I wouldn't be dodging killers, I'd be dodging specific killers who have an indication of being toxic - or people who I have played with before and I KNOW are toxic.

The same way killers can dodge survivors now who they know or suspect to be toxic.

Your way isn't dodging specific SWF, it's dodging ALL SWF.

  • Yeah it's definitely increased recently.

Every game has camping but I've never seen it on this level. When it starts to happen in the majority of games it really ruins the game. I can't play solo survivor anymore for this reason. So unless friends are online and wanting to play DBD over say PUBG then I've only got half a game to play now - the Killer side.

Replace Nurses Calling with Iron Maiden and I'd argue doc is even stronger.

    I agree.

A lot of Doctors take distressing, many use the add-ons to increase terror radius, and many burn The Game offering. The only way to avoid going up a tier in madness was lockers. Now with this perk thats been taken away.

You're definitely right about that, he probably will be stronger now.

  • Megheads......lol

I like Megs but boy do I know exactly what you mean with that word lol

Poor Meg, their hearts are always in the right place but they could definitely learn to spend a few seconds thinking before doing something.

  • Sounds like someone just had a bad game.

  • The fact that you can't activate sprint burst is the trade off. It's the balance.

Balanced landing? you need to drop

    Lithe? you need to vault

Dead hard? Only when injured, and it's not a speed boost like the others

Sprint Burst is balanced by it requiring you to walk. If you could activate it whenever then there would be no point using other perks.

  • It's a Nurse's Calling, not a Psychologists Calling

    This addresses the vital stuff.

    • The double fatigue was really crippling him and a lot of players simply didn't grasp the idea of manually cancelling the frenzy, probably because it felt unintuitve.

    • The vault distance is a good fix as a lot of people were exploiting this on the PTB

    • Mend sound is good. Gives the Legion a chance at finding people mending nearby.

    • Progress reset, needed. Made no sense why it didn't reset if hit again, probably an oversight.

They've fixed the essentials or things that were probably oversights. In terms of buffs I think they will come like they did with Spirit. I just think they want to wait and see how it goes. They'll probably monitor peoples feedback and gameplay footage and see what needs doing after. Then introduce little buffs here and there so he isn't overdone. I think Bricky said it best when he described Legion as being on a see-saw in terms of balance.

The only thing that's concerning to me is the fact that the mending time goes down while mending. I get why they did this. People could run, mend, run, mend, like they used to with self-care and bump it up bit by bit. This forces you when the bar gets low enough to stand and mend fully, and if you get interrupted then you're going down. I just hope he doesn't become incredibly annoying to go up against as a survivor. I mean look at Freddy, he's weak but most people find him the most annoying killer.

We basically just got bug fixes for him. Not really any buffs. He's a tricky one to balance but that's on them since they made it.

You're right it is on them.

I do think they will buff him, I just think it's going to come after release.

But yeah these were pretty much just quick fixes.

  • Kind of agree.

I was a bit iffy on the nerfing BBQ. It was a nice way to encourage non-camping.

But then someone here was praising it because they like to play stealthy and hiding in lockers/running Distorion gives them more tools to do that. Can't say it's not fair to give survivors more tools to play stealthy if that's how they enjoy playing. Its better than more loops lol

    Except for Claudettes. ######### Claudettes.
  • Mending is healing visually yes.

But its obvious what the intention was.

Healing is healing. Increasing your health state by +1

Mending/Snap out of it/Wake up etc are little actions designed to cure a status effect but they don't increase the health of the survivor.

It makes sense. They want these to be things that slow the survivor down. Things you will be doing often. If you make them healing actions then killers just run Nurse's calling and see them everytime they try to get rid of them.

What they did with Legion made them re-evaluate it. Seems they want to streamline everything like they did when they changed BT to fit with Mending.
  • Eh, least that frees up the Nurse's calling perk slot for that new locker perk.

You could take Billy and give him NOED, Ruin and an ebony mori. That's really making him strong.

But then wheres the fun in that? To me thats the "I can't stand losing" build.

Its like when you get 4 man SWF with BNP, instaheals, DS and all their meta perks.

Wheres the fun when the game is that easy?

But then maybe its just me. Im one of those rare people who prefers to play without NOED and to win the game normally.

If you NEED Ruin then it is by definition a crutch. You don't need Ruin, there are plenty of streamers out there who can consistently win with any killer without ruin. However obviously not everyone is going to be at this level. That said, if you absolutely need Ruin on top tier killers like Billy or Nurse then chances are you're doing something wrong. Yoi shouldn't need it for them.

There are two types of non-meme builds. One type compensates for a character's weaknesses. The second type pushes their strengths to the absolute limit.
It's not about what you need to use, it's about what you want to use. Do you want to cover your character's weaknesses, or do you want to amplify their strengths?

But I thought you were all about balance?

thing is ruin isn't needed on top tier killers because you should be applying a lot of pressure already. if you do need it on a billy or nurse you're most likely bad with them

It makes sense on killers like Hag, trapper or even Myers though. These people need the extra time to set up their powers. Hag especially because she's also slow at crossing the map, and it was designed for her.

It's like how people kind of understand when someone using Freddy takes NOED, but it just looks sad when someone needs to take NOED on Billy or Nurse.

I see plenty of Nurses and Billys take both NOED and Ruin. Its like, how much do you need to win?
  • I think the killershould get a bloodpoints multiplier every time he hooks a different survivor, with the multiplier disappearing if the killer stays within 10 meters of the hook for 10 seconds, as well as if they hook the same survivor twice.

Like a built in, aura free BBQ and chili meant to simply incentivize the killer to loosen up a little and focus on the bloodpoints instead of those trashy tryhards.
    So saying S1 = survivor 1, S2 = survivor 2 etc

    He could hook like this..

    S1 > S2 > S4 > S2 > S3 > S4 > S1 > S1

And they would gain a bonus multiplayer, which increases each time?

So that combo would end at 7 since he hooked S1 twice in a row.

That would be interesting. I don't think it would do much to stop campers since they only care about winning and not points.

But it would perhaps incentivize other killers to tunnel less if they weren't feeling pressure.

Double XP weekends have shown us that killers are willing to let all 4 survivors walk out if the exit gates as long as they get a lot of BP.

I think this kind of combo scoring system would be good for those people who like to go for scoring, and might make it a little more interesting for the rank 1 streamers who say they find the game too easy.

I know to cut out the grind I'd definitely try to get my combo multiplayer as high as possible.

    Heres my thoughts...

    • It ruins the game
    • It hurts solo more than SWF

Compromise with killers to have changes made to the game that nerf camping, and in a compromise we nerf SWF.

I've often seen this idea flaoted around that the gane goes...

SWF > Killer >> Solo survivors.

I think there's a fair amount of truth to that.

Camping doesn't need nerfs. If you want Killers to stop camping, you've got two choices:

    • Stop rewarding camping (which Survivors don't want to do because they feel entitled to save even if the Killer is right there).
    • Reward Killers for leaving the hook as a base mechanic (which they also don't want to do, because they think Killers are dogs or circus animals that should be trained by beating them until they do what you want).

To emphasize: punishment does not work, and Survivors have already proved as much.
Take, for example, the penalty for hook rushing. Survivors get caught, resulting in a snowball for the Killer. Yet they keep doing it, over and over, despite the obvious punishment. If you think punishment works, then explain why Survivors throw themselves at Killers despite the punishment they receive.

Yes sometimes it is the survivors fault too. Those who just want to farm their WGLF stacks, those who rush because they don't wany anyone else getting the points, and those who are just out to troll.

But that leaves us again in the situation where its best to just avoid solo altogether and only play SWF.

  • @Orion In terms of escaping the killer yes.

As I said I bring Bond anyway. It's great for me but other survivors don't bring these therefore there's still no co-ordination. Again Kindred doesn't always work because there's no communication.

    @Wolf74

It's not a "false meme" at all. I have BT unlocked but I only bring it if I get game after game of camping killers. Obviously it makes sense to bring perks that will counter how the killer is playing.

So it's definitely true for me. Can't speak for everyone but I know others like me bring it purely in reaction to how killers play.

I'm honestly surprised the game ever took off watching those. Shout out to the killers who stuck with the game and helped the community grow during those dark times.

I've been watching some videos from late last year too. While the game wasn't as bad as 2016 there was still some insanely strong areas.

I mean just since summer alone we've had pallet spawn changes so Badham preschol is no longer unbearable anymore, cowtree shrunk, healing nerf.

The game is definitely getting better for killers than before.

Shh you’re on the forums.  You’re supposed to say Killer is unplayable, Survivors are favored and Killers are always being nerfed.
Yeah I can see from those videos how many nerfs killers have had.

So take perks that help with coordination. Kindred, Bond, Empathy.

But they have no room for those "inferior" perks in their full meta builds (SC,SB, DS, BT).
And Kindred is a "garbage perk", because 2 min aura read on the killer is crap and 4 seconds aura read on survivor is OP, you know? ;)

How many times do you complain that SWF is unbalanced? Yet here you are taking it out on solo survivors.

I don't bring meta builds actually. Couldn't care less about SB or DS. I like how you act like BT is a bad thing when it's one of the best things to have against camping. I only bring that if I get multiple camping killers in a row. So it's a reaction to how killers play.

Want us to stop bringing BT? Stop camping.

Yeah, I get it. Solo Survivors want the same coordination as borderline wallhack SWF, but they don't want to have to sacrifice any perk slots for it.

Why should we? It puts as at a massive disadvantage. Helps out the crappy camping killers too. Easier to just play SWF.

Besides how many times do killers cry and then refuse to take perks they're recommended?

And for the record, Kindred barely helps some games. Weak survivors are going to be weak survivors regardless. Because theres no overrall plan, no co-ordination.

But me taking those 3 perks doesn't mean the others will. Like I said I baited a camper yesterday so they could get the unhook, but they weren't able to do it for me.

Theres also the fact that I have to use multiple perk slots for those. SWF don't so they can load up on their meta perks which again leads to the game being nowhere near as good or fun for solo survivors.

Yes some survivors do bad baits. Like running into extremely secure areas which the killer isn't going to fall for.

However some killers flat out refuse to leave the hook. Or some only leave if you give them a guarenteed new hook. At which point they then camp the new guy. You can't keep feeding a camping killer new hooks.

I don't see why it's on survivors to feed some lazy troll new hooks to get them to move.

If you "feed the camper" you are doing the baits wrong.
Sometimes you need to take a hit to get a rescue, but that's why the unhook reward is so high.
And trading hooks is still beneficial to the team, because spread out damage among the team means more time with 4 survivor active.

It's never works as simple as you make it sound because there's little co-ordination. Not with randoms anyway

So again we end up where it's just better off to play SWF.
  • Unplayable?
Since when do you play the game exactly?
The game isn't perfect but it is far from unplayable.
It use to be unplayable it isn't anymore.

  • Tru3ta1ent "Fookin' Dead 'ard" shirt please.

That's the issue with DBD. So many killers moan about SWF, and yet so many are playing in a way that makes survivors only feel comfortable playing in SWF.

I do try to be nice as long as they aren't toxic survivors. Sometimes you hook someone, bump into them shortly after they're unhooked and hook them again, and then again you bump into them shortly after unhook. I tend to leave them alone at that point rather than force them out of the game.

I go easy on basement hooks too with Hag because I know how bad she can be. I'll place a trap to slow them down, but continue to chase someone else rather than teleport to it.
  • When they finally get around to hiding endgame perks from SWF I'll be taking Bloodwarden a lot more. It's my favourite perk, so sneaky.

    The Spirit is bad.

The spirit is bad in the wrong hands, otherwise she's pretty good.
    She's definitely upper tier.

You can tell the difference between killers easily. You use a low tier one and either a few survivors make it out or you're fighting sweaty and manage to 4k at the last minute.

Then you switch to a string killer and game after game the exit gates never get powered, or yoi get those lucky matches where they can't even spawn the hatch.

I'm definitely finding Spirit to be in that latter group.

how would this not just hand the hatch standoff to the killer?

what's keeping the killer from camping the chest?

how is this not catering to the killer who couldn't be bothered to slug the second to last survivor?

How can the Killer camp a chest that was randomly spawned? They don't know where it is, aren't there 3 chests normally? Oh look I found a 4th chest and it's opened, or was it a normal chest, do they have the key already or are they still looking for the right chest?

Also, they can camp the hatch but because there is no Hatch grab the Survivor can run up to the killer, get hit, use the key and get in. If the Killer just stands there trying to bait them or if they get there first it does not matter because in that scenario there is no Hatch grab, the Killer cannot win the scenario when the Survivor finds the key unless they catch Survivor before they get to the hatch.

I see what you're saying but it would still become a chest standoff in a number of situations.

Also as I explained in another thread the hatch needs to stay survivor sided.
  • @DocOctober Can we stop with the insults please? Things have chilled out now. Lets not start it all up again.

    @Wolf74

  • If you had a Leatherface avatar this would have been perfect

Can you imagine the survivors? They look up the basement stairs and see Bubba revving his chainsaw nodding at them
