It’s taking ME hostage. I certainly don’t have the power to end the game without disconnecting in this case.

It wouldn’t fall under the games definition of holding hostage, but it DOES fall under griefing.

  • Goodness no. Old version all the way. New version is too pretty.

It's my understanding that you can safely crouch through Hag's trap and Pyramid's Rites of Judgement trail, but not Demogorgon's portal; it can only be sealed after activation.

But im not 100% sure on this.

    Would like some clarification. thanks.

Crouching will not trigger Hag’s Phantasm Traps.

Crouching (or standing still) will not trigger Victors Killer Instinct whether he is idle or attached to a teammate nearby.

Crouching over a Rite of Judgement will protect you from getting tormented and Killer Instinct.

As far I know there is no way to protect from Demorgorgans Portal Killer Instinct, and that may be because Demo won’t know about it unless it uses Of The Abyss (or that add on that doesn’t require Of The Abyss).

The thing is, Victor's pounce isn't considered a "special attack" because he's not considered a Killer in the code. In terms of whether or not it's an attack, Victor's pounce coding-wise would be more comparable to a Survivor taking damage from Trapper's bear trap or being attacked by a Nemesis's zombie, which both conserve PWYF tokens.

And again, if Victor is considered a Killer for this one instance, why not for any other Perk that involves the Killer, like Spine Chill or Deathbound? Why does PWYF get the special mistreatment?

Also, yes, it's absolutely a nerf. This was their literal best Perk before the change. Are you mad?

It IS a special attack. Victor is Charlottes special attack.

I know iron will is affected by stridor, since it gives you an actual modifier of explicit numbers, but bite the bullet just says that you don't make noise while healing, no mention of "grunts of pain are reduced by x%." Does this mean it overrides stridor no matter what?

No. Because it’s not a percentage change. It’s like Self Preservation, it turns off sound entirely.

  • “Performing a basic attack or a special attack consumes 1 token”.

Doesn’t sound like a nerf to me. Tokens should never have been kept when using Victor.

I think far too few of the community appreciate just how much effort the devs put into keeping the game fresh, so frequently throughout the year.

I get irritated by some of the complaints about recent events not being like they used to because they’re now tied to the archives, and how entitled it sounds. I’m talking specifically about those that are blatantly rude about it, rather than simply expressing a little dismay and then moving on and growing up.

Very few games thematically change things as frequently as DBD does.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

The music has always been 100% since the launch of the game

Yeah I’ve loved when they started doing change ups of the main menu theme, and then adding thematically complimenting one’s with the killer at the launch of a chapter (Ghostface’s one stands out as being particularly sinister and menacing. Made my skin crawl when I first heard it.) And now we’ve got a range of unique chase music and TR music. I hope they continue do this with older chapters. It’s been stellar.

This perk, from what I understand, used to have decent synergy with Object of Obsession prior to 4.7.0 if your teammates were dead, but since they changed Object, it doesn’t have that synergy anymore. Is it really all that useful at all? I’m at a loss why I should consider running this perk over, say, Distortion, which tells me what aura perks or add ons a killer is running?

It still has synergy. It reduces how dangerous OoO can become as teammates as die.

I still periodically use SS because I hate Wraith/Myers/Pig wallhack add ons, I’m All Ears, and Nurses.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2253234#Comment_2253234

That is true but competent killers don’t get juked easily if ever.

Shadowborn is barely worth a perk slot unless you just like the high FOV. It gives you very little advantage if you as a killer are not easily juked or the survivors aren’t cheeky. First time I heard that Shadowborn gives you a “distinct advantage”.

Plus the base FOV is pitful.

That’s the point of base POV. It’s so Survivor can have a chance to try and get out of sight. Shadowborn dramatically reduces survivors chances to do this.

  • @GannTM said:

Yet again another instance that survivors want the killer to hold their hand and let them get away with a big mistake.

Let me just say that, no you are not in the wrong. That play was on the survivor for farming a survivor off hook without BT. Not your fault for doing your objective.

The thing is though, the killer IS letting them get away with this behaviour. The killer “being in on it” so to speak just reinforces the idea in those jerks heads that it’s ok to continue being jerks. Sure, the killer didn’t do anything wrong as per the game rules, but it’s certainly very distasteful. There’s something pretty wretched about rules that allow circumstances in which both the opposition AND your (supposed) team mates make a match as infuriating and miserable as possible.

  • A healthy change.

It has its pros and cons.

The best advantage new OoO has is that it’s not just a location info perk anymore. It also tells you what aura reading perks or add ons a killer is using. It’s always such a relief when a first hook occurs and I DON’T see the killers aura, and realise they’re NOT running BBQ.

The con though is that because the control has been taken away from the survivor to choose when to use it, and the removal of the TR safety zone, new OoO can be a very dangerous perk, especially as teammates die. You’re much more likely to have your aura revealed while the killer is close by, and sometimes while being out positioned.

  • It greatly limits survivors ability to hide from you, or try and juke you mid chase. Often when survivors try to crouch in a corner and double back, Shadowborn has made the survivor plain as day to see without me even trying. I just turn the corner, and there they are in the corner of my FoV.

This is why I firmly stand by Shadowborn remaining a perk, rather than an option in settings. DBD isn’t like other games. Shadowborn’s much larger FoV most definitely gives a distinct advantage during the trial. Survivor jukes are ridiculously easy to see with this perk equipped.

    Can confirm.

Which makes Built To Last extremely dependent in its value on the charges on your item. Which in turn makes me prefer Streetwise, at least for a full on scavenger build. (Plunderer's, Ace-in-the-hole, Appraisal)

Built To Last outshines Streetwise though (except in coop scenarios).

Take a brown med kit for example, no add ons.

Streetwise extends those 16 charges to 20. Built To Last extends it to 24 charges (albeit a brief 10 second wait to get those 8 additional charges)

You do realize that the problem is actually with sticking together, right? Bubba, Oni, Plague, and Legion will have a field day with perks like this. It's the reason why Streetwise and Vigil need buffs because sticking together is generally a bad idea

    Obviously not indefinitely.

agreed also to be honest who actually uses vigil for anything besides the exhaustion

I’ll use it for an all aura build. Even though Blindness add ons are rare, they’re still very crippling to my builds.

(BHVR:) Yea, you can go screw yourself for playing adept level 10 doctor at red ranks, clutching it out and getting 3 kills at 1 gen left. Ontop of the kill you already had. Should've just performed better. Kicked one more gen. Maybe get a 5k next time?

(Even though I got max points in all categories it decided to give me golden gatekeeper)

On a real note, it is extremely unfair to literally kill all survivors, clutch the 4k against good teams (multiple times I might add), have max bps in all categories, and still not get adept even though I did everything correctly and made no mistakes. I should totally be rewarded for that. Its like the game is just spitting in your face for all the hard work you've done. But nope, you can have nothing and like it. Even though I had to sweat super hard and play like a dick (which I dont like doing) to win. I apologize in every end game chat for playing like that, yet I don't get the adept so it wasnt worth it whatsoever. How else am I supposed to win if i'm not tunneling one person out of the game? Its red ranks. Gens go by like crazy. It's not like I can have game delay, cause, you know. Adept. On the other hand, survivors can literally just escape and get adept. There is literally no reason for killer adept to be so hard to get at red ranks. Or in general. Just change the requirement to something simple like; Get 4 kills in a single match using ____'s unique perks. I have tried 2 games so far, 4ked both, gotten max bloodpoints, and yet, the game doesn't want to give me iridescent gatekeeper because i'm 3 genning rather than defending all gens. Its complete BS.

Literally 31,500 bloodpoints and still no adept. Great game design.

Is adept even supposed to be THAT challenging? I got almost all my survivor adepts at rank 1 solo queue on my first attempt. Survivor adepts are so easy compared to (red ranks) killer adept. It's probably way easier at lower ranks, but man is this stupid.

Thanks for letting me rant. Good day. Feel free to leave your opinions below.

Adept Doc is actually one of the easiest to get.

Anyway, that’s not my point. The Adepts are meant to get the player really thinking hard about how to get the absolute most out of those 3 perks and the killers power. There’s usually way more synergy between a killers power and (some) of their perks than players realise.

With Doc, it’s a really good idea to use at least 1 Calm add on with M&A. It really helps confuse the survivors, and can make you a semi stealth killer, especially when Carters Notes and Class 2 are stacked: TR jumps up to 54m in a chase with static blast ready, and drops down to a tiny 10m out of a chase when Blast is on cool down.

  • Insidious + Hoarder, then wait in the basement. Preferably as Santa Clown.

  • Is this having some direct impact on your finances, career, health, relationships, etc.?

Is this really worth expending mental energy on?

So they made a visual change to the logo. You’ll be fine. We’ll be fine.

  • Steve’s perks get a bad rap. Babysitter is fine, it’s just misunderstood. It’s NOT meant to be an alternative to BT. It’s not an anti camp perk. Babysitter serves 2 purposes.

    1. Unless against a stealth killer, or one using Undetectable perks, Babysitter tells you it’s SAFE to heal at the hook or not. This is how Babysitter synergises with Second Wind. The info given isn’t disputable. It’s either safe to heal at the hook, or it isn’t because you can SEE the killer returning.
    2. If you can see the killer IS returning, then YOU are meant to be a diversion and draw the killer away. This is why YOUR aura is revealed. It gives the unhooked survivor with the limited period of no blood, and no scratch marks the best chance of getting away without a trace when you, the rescuer, have a great big visual “come get me” occurring.

If anything Camaraderie is his worst perk. Not because the effect itself is bad (it’s super handy when it does proc), it’s because when playing solo, nobody else knows you have it.

  • It was almost as much of a disaster as the original MoM fiasco.

Bombardier Inc., another Canadian-owned company with headquarters in Montreal, like BHVR, retained its third-place position in the ranking for 2002. Like CAE and GM Defense, Bombardier has been a persistent member of the top tier of military manufacturers and during 2002 the three companies together generated over $2-billion in military sales, more than twice the combined total of the other seven companies of the table. The majority of Bombardier’s military business in 2002 was with Canadian and NATO forces – especially the provision of pilot training in Canada – but the company also sold services and aerospace equipment to Singapore and Australia.

They are also partners with Behaviour Interactive and resides in the same town, doing large scale experiments on human behaviour for war situations through the game, Dead by Daylight.

What are your thoughts on this?

My mistake. It was around the same time they made the leader changes that they did the changes to coop repair speeds right? Which probably made me think Prove Thyself was nerfed.

  • Because they’re Hag 2.0. Many Twins players use the scummy tactic of either planting Victor next to a hook before hooking a survivor, or leaving Charlotte just outside the 12 or 16m range of the hooked survivor.

It’s not fun at all to deal with.

But yeah all killer perks are disgustingly oppressive and anti fun, they reward the killer for playing like an idiot and are in dire need of a tone down, especially broken stuff like bloodhound and predator

    Err...

    Is this Sluzzy 2.0?

  • Idea: should they get rip of the “drop item” action? Just limit it to a swapping action with an item in a chest, or a swapping action directly with an adjacent survivor? I.e. Item (or items) swap hands directly?

The only items that end up on the ground are those knocked out because of Franklin’s, or those left behind due to survivor sacrifice, mori, or bleed out?

This could stop the sneaky hide the key issue.

That isn’t always true. But it is sad that it happens at all.

  • I don’t think they’ll tinker too much with the hatch spawn requirements. They still need to have an option for solo survivors unfairly screwed by the other 3 survivors they’re paired with.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/255180/after-all-this-time-lightweight-is-still-a-really-good-perk

A couple years back on stream Horvath teased maybe buffing it so it made footsteps silent. That buff never made it in, I would have liked it for stealth builds. On certain maps like swamp a blind at a pallet is a free hit for me as killer as its so easy to track footsteps.

Right now I don't really like it compared to perks like Dance With Me or Lucky Break.

I mean, of course Lucky Break & Dance With Me supersede Lightweight (DWM is way more useful as a stand-alone perk than is fairly given credit for), but for generic base perk, Lightweight is pretty damn good.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

I have tried it recently but It didn't seem to make much of an impact on my survival. Maybe I'm using it wrong.

Like I said, if the killer is up your butt, then Lightweight won’t help. But if you’ve got a bit of distance (never wait till the killer is on top of you before starting to run), and making sure you’re periodically walking to break up the scratch marks, how quickly they fade can throw the killer off.

i get gens pop early, but the fact that it takes less than 30 secods for a survivor to complete a generator is INSANE. thats less time than it takes for me to even cross the map. im at a massive disadvantage because i cant exacly RUN through the map any faster, im stuck at my pace that im at. im trying to patrol generators and before i can even reach like the 2nd generator, 2 are popped. and i get survviors need some sort of edge, but yall are already 4v1, have all your perks ready, all pallets are ready--survivors already have a massive advantage once the game starts,

You’re MEANT to be at a disadvantage at the beginning. That’s the point. No one is yet in a chase or hooked. They have free reign. How many gens are done early is moot if you can exert strong pressure from the moment you get your first down.

its just gotten so miserable for me. like i cant even cross the map ONCE and theres already 2 generators done? like OMG dude, can i at least have some sort of chance? and i dont wanna be cheap and camp survivors or tunnel anyone so if a chase goes on for longer than 15s i stop and move on to gen patrol. then i get like survivors flicking their flash light on and off in my face? like im getting really tired of 1 survivor being rank 20, and the rest are like rank 10 and higher it seems really difficult to even learn when everyone is like 3000 hours in

    Chill.

The game is intentionally designed so that 1 or 2 gens pop really early.

If completing gens was made difficult right from the start, no one would play survivor.

Many games won by many killers start with 1 to 3 gens popping quickly early in the game.

Newbie here! I've been maining killer lately and today during a match I suddenly had to AFK to check on my dog(he was pooping dental floss and was freaking out so it literally couldn't wait) anyway, I returned expecting it to be GG, I felt bad but ya know it happens sometimes.

The gennys are done and the survivors are all just kinda standing around me? So I just kinda like.. nodded at them? I wasn't gonna try and stab em at this point I just accepted my loss and went to the gate and opened it for them. They didn't go through the gate though? They all started like nodding their heads and dropping their equipped items and stuff and like squatting. One of them asked me to follow and lured me to a pallet, and I think they wanted to drop it on me? So I just let them get the drop on me, whatevs--clock is still running out tho so I run back to the gate and try to just encourage them to go through, ya know?

2 survivors go through last minute but then 2 others stay behind and let themselves die? I'm still new to gaming etiquette on this game, so whats going on? Like I cant gesture like they can, so I just nodded and what not or tried to "point" to the gate. Post game I see 2 of the survivors are rank 18, like me, and 2 are RANK 1 (OMG) and those are the 2 that let themselves die.

Anyway, is there something I should do/know when survivors are just dropping their med kits/flashlights in front of me and just, crouching/nodding? I didnt' know what to do lol

They probably thought your AFK was you giving up, and they felt sorry for you maybe.

Putting down their item is (usually) a gesture of good faith where they’re attempting to give you a break and help you earn more points.

    Hmmm...

She’s still a very successful killer though. Her power is still very effective most of the time. And the usefulness of Surveillance or MYC hasn’t diminished in any way.

So what is there to feel bad about?

  • Honestly for me it’s 2 things.

    1. There’s still really nothing quite like DBD. Not even remotely comparable.
    2. DBD is probably one of modern gaming’s most endearing success stories. It was a small team, making a small game, with limited resources, and no one thought it would really go anywhere, or last very long. And here we are 5 years later with a HUGE player base, across many platforms, and it’s one of the most highly streamed/viewed games of all time (not the highest, but it’s up there). All this whilst maintaining its heart and vision despite now being almost unrecognisable from the game that was released 5 years ago. If ever there was a documentary on the history and development of this game, I’d watch it.
1 … 22 23 24 25 26 … 110
