  • Sorry to derail the conversation, but it’s still really, really funny when a survivor is dumb enough to get into a locker while being chased by Victor.

  • 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Imagine the animation and graphic. Anytime a survivor gets in a locker, or when Charlotte reloads, she picks from one of 3 Victors hanging at the back of the locker.

  • @Salty_Pearl said:

If Victor is on a survivor for so long that I can recall him, he should be able to down the survivor. I get that the recall feature was made for when he was taken hostage but if Survivors were actually afraid to have him on for too long, nobody would take him hostage. Charlotte is just an M1 Killer when Victor is attached to someone and she shouldn't be like that. Either remove Victor as fast as you can or suffer the consequence and be downed if you have him on for too long. I don't think that would make them too OP...

I think it seems you’re not understanding the value of what Victor does for the match. If a survivor wants to kidnap Victor, let them.

If a survivor willingly wants to take themselves out of helping with their objective, that’s fantastic. Ignore them. Don’t get baited into chasing them. If they happen to cross your path for an easy down, also great.

Survivors like to falsely think this is a great strategy: kidnapping Victor, not realising how much they’re hurting their team.

Imagine being any other killer, like Wraith, and almost straight away in a match only having to deal with 3 survivors at 5 gens. That’s how powerful Victor can be if someone is stupid enough to think kidnapping Victor is a good idea.

Don’t get stressed about not having your power during chases. If you’re in a situation where it’s critical to have Victor, like body blocking a loop as Charlotte, only then recall him.

Victor doesn’t need more lethality than he already currently has. This is more of a psychological problem with players when a survivor takes Victor for extended periods of time.

You can still do that even with the BP cap. I P3 all perked my Trapper, and of course I played him which is the reason I wanted to do that for him. But I could have just as easily not played as him and done it anyway. The BP cap is just annoying, unnecessary, and pointless.

Yes, you could have, but not as easily as banking an unlimited supply of BP.

12/14/18 metres (Victor's Shrieks; idle, attached, controlled)

    Soured Milk = +2m

    Madeleine's Gloves = +4m

Thank you. I didn’t know it was variable depending on what Victor is doing.

  • It’s the same mentality that has sheep claiming every perk other than the golden meta is rubbish after using said perks for only 1 match (or not at all)

Nobody wants to put thought into how to get value out of their load out by adjusting how they play. Same goes for the killer they’re up against.

  • I have given the survivors more free escapes today than I ever have before because the amount of terrified, clueless newbies I’ve been up against.

And even then it takes ages before they understand I’m when I’m trying to let them finish gens and escape.

  • Hmm the Twins are already pretty oppressive. This sounds like dealing with them as survivor close to impossible.

  • I honestly think Mindbreaker is fine as it is, and I use it semi regularly. Sure it’s not great early in the game, but an injured survivor that’s successfully DH and got away is in big trouble if they’re found again on a gen, and they’ve still got 30 seconds of exhaustion that’s been paused.

  • @Maperson said:

Just add more and that's it

    Hmm... not sure about that.

  • Because the devs want players to at least play a little bit of each available piece of content.

If there were no cap it would be possible to P3 50 a character, with every perk at T3, and never have used them, or never use them even after having done that.

Basically it’s to ensure players are exposing themselves to variety, and also to encourage investment in add on and offering stock.

  • As long as they give him a hairy chest, I’m ok with this.

Yep. I've seen and met many killer mains who struggle once they are forced to use anything other than BBQ + Pop or Ruin/Undying

I’ve repeatedly said on these forums that one of my favourite Clown builds is Coulrophobia, Deathbound, Forced Penance, and Sloppy. I do really well at red ranks with this build and a particular strategy.

Of course here I’m often not taken seriously at all.

I take the time to really understand a perk, and milk the most I can out of them. Even the pretty bad Furtive Chase can be used to quickly change targets mid chase at 4 tokens, and keep Survivors confused.

No perk is 100% complete rubbish. They just require methodical approaches.

  • I always strongly encourage experimentation with perks. It helps a player learn many valuable skills.

No... There's nothing a player can do to make themselves ranks 17-20, only the monthly rank reset can do that.

So this Dwight got reset... that's it.

And managed to maintain impeccable skill despite the amount of time that would have needed to pass to reset to such a low rank?!

    I don’t think so.

As a HUGE RE fan this new killer shocked me in a bad way. While its still fun I wanted to be able to play as Nemesis but he just hotly dumped on for the 4th time in a row. One of my favorite video game villains is just getting abused in every recent version. In RE3 Remake he wasn't as cool as Mr. X, in REsistance he's the worst BOW unless you have 1 very specific move equipped, in RE: Verse he's just goofy looking and now in DBD he's not even who he is supposed to be. It just makes me sad to see this happening again and out of those 4 this one is by far the worst one for me. His mori is also HORRIBLE. Why wasn't his mori at least the kill on Brad in the original RE3 mixed with the remake kill? And half of his power, the zombies could easily have been replaced so I can play as THE Nemesis. Not A Nemesis. Having a character that's means a lot to you butchered like this over and over and so frequently really feels horrible. He's not even that good. WHERE IS HIS ICONIC RUNNING. I didn't expect him to be exactly like his RE3 Remake version. I expected to still feel like I'm playing Nemesis. This character could have easily been someone else with some animation changes of course. Like Lisa Trevor, she had tentacles. None of this makes you feel like Nemesis. I just feel like Mr. X but with a tentacle which some people might say he is just that but no Nemesis is so much more. Please don't end up releasing something that doesn't feel like him.

You understand the part that every killer is bent to the will of the Entity? Don’t you?

  • @Seraphor said:

You can't depip to rank 19, as you can't lose pips past rank 16.

The reason such a good player was rank 19 is due to rank reset and only rank reset. Seeing as the last one seemingly reset peoples rank at random, you can't even claim they depiped to rank 16 and then got reset to 20.

I'm not generally one to care about ranking up, the last reset took me from 7 to 17 and I'm still only at 15.

Surely that just further cements how suspicious it was how skilled this Dwight was then... something was definitely way off about the whole group, and just how exceptionally good they were, the Dwight in particular. In fact the one red rank survivor in the match was the first to die.

I disagree, Slinger is one of the few balanced killers in the game. You can argue he is unfun all day and night, that is a matter of personal opinion, but he is not to strong and does not need to be made weaker. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

So then... he shouldn’t need M&A at all then, eh?

My point is M&A should be an incompatible perk. If he’s already balanced as you claim he is, making M&A incompatible by adding a 24m audio cue shouldn’t be an issue, should it.

  • I wouldn’t rework Bloodhound. It’s heavily underrated. It’s a great counter to Iron Will, and makes finding slugs almost as easy as Deerstalker.

Let me be clearer with what I meant:

If he can hit you from 18 meters you can 100% see him.

You will also be able to hear the noise when he's aiming at you. Said noise will likely last a split second, however the amount of time he's available for you to see is likely more than that.

It's not difficult to understand. It's irrelevant. It's your responsibility as a survivor to care for your positioning and the positioning of the gens you work on. Solo cue sucks, we all know, you shouldn't neuter a killer because survivors can do survivor things.

If your teammates only leave tucked gens to be worked on, then all you can do is keep very good track of the Deathslinger's position. You need to keep track of where he went, where he could have gone and how he could get to you, and if you can't avoid the first hit, keep yourself healed and have an escape route planned. Again this is all part of what survivors should do.

Also the closest he can get without you hearing he is coming is 16 meters. Which is long enough time for you to be bolting it out of wherever those tucked gens might be, because again, if you cannot see him within range, then he doesn't have LoS. If he has LoS, you can see him.

If your teammates only left deadzone gens to be worked on, then this is not a slinger problem, it's a solo cue problem.

I’m not asking to gut Deathslinger. There’s a very clear reason his TR is 24m instead of 32m, and why The Redeemer has an 18m reach.

M&A feels like a very clear exploit around the intended design of balance inherent in Deathslinger.

  • @NekoTorvic said:

If he can hit you from 18 meters you can 100% see him and you'll probably hear the noise when he's aiming at you for a split second before he takes the shot. If the map is cluttered enough that he needs to get closer, you can 100% hear his TR (more specifically the heartbeat itself), regardless of M&A.

If you KNOW it's a Deathslinger (because the match as progressed), it is your responsibility as a survivor to mind where you work on gens and your positioning, and to keep constant track of where he is.

Getting a shot from 18 meters is ridiculously inconsistent, you'll most likely not get to m1 the survivor since it's very easy for the survivor to put something in between you and them enough that the chain breaks.

Deathslinger's stealth is one of the few things he has going for him aside from his relatively strong 1v1, which isn't even the best because good survivors are damn hard to hit even by incredibly experienced Deathslingers.

“If he can hit you from 18 meters you can 100% see him and you'll probably hear the noise when he's aiming at you for a split second before he takes the shot.”

You said the key phrasing yourself: split second. There’s very little that can be done the split second when he comes into view, and he shoots at you.

And what part of “Yes, I have eyes, yes I use them. But maps are becoming more cluttered, and if my teammates leave the only gens to be worked on are the ones tucked away that don’t allow for situational awareness, what are Survivors supposed to do without Spinechill?” was difficult to understand?

  • They disconnected

I wouldn't have a problem if it was a 24m lullaby, specifically to prevent the M&A snipe radius. I don't have a strong opinion on the matter, but he deserves one way more than Trickster does.

A persistent whistle at 24m range would be great, and would thematically compliment the old west theme of his character.

As much I want to give Behavior and community some credibility and faith on their auto-ban system, I feel there needs to be a discussion on this particular topic. In the 5th Anniversary stream, there was mention about an auto-ban system and this raised a brow with my friends and I. I spoken with a few smaller content creators and they even agree it has some worrisome factors. A lot of us have been playing for years, heard this report accusation, and nothing ends up happening to us.

Yet, if we compare this to other big-titled games (like LoL or Overwatch), there has been known cases of players manipulating the game report system to get someone else in trouble. This can be in the form of twisting the facts to benefit the messenger, encouraging players to mass false report, or baiting a reaction to send a report. Alongside, depending on how the automation is handled, some toxic behavior can be slipped through the cracks because the program doesn't detect a specific phrase, word, or analogy. It can also be false red-flagged because the bot doesn't decipher the context of the situation. I can see Behavior's good intentions, but there needs to be oversight.

Now, why do I bring this particular issue up?

A few nights ago, I was playing around with the infamous Basement Bubba build and camping people in the basement. For context, I wasn't making any attempt to single-target people. If I got them in a different game and they ended up as a victim, then it was by pure coincidence. Whoever ended up in the basement first was the victim for the game. I was following the game rules addressed here by not_Queen:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system

Back to the subject at hand, I ran into a particular SWF who got hostile and vile towards me for my play style. They all tried to rush save the victim, but ended up getting insidious chainsawed by Bubba. This made them incredibly upset and started harassing me in chat for playing basement bubba. I tried to clarify to the individuals this wasn't a reportable offense and it was a strategy. Yet, what was said afterwards made me a bit concerned...

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Q67R2A2KYW2O/bubbaisreportable.png

(I cut down and censored the conversation to protect the privacy of other players and keep the topic at hand.)

This makes me gravely concerned for the auto-ban system. It's not the first time I've been threatened by this, but the growing mentality some players are getting is alarming and concerning. All because if someone doesn't like a specific play style the killer or survivor is doing, then they can tag a report onto the individual for x, y, or z reason. (I've been accused of being AFK, hate crime against another, toxic, etc. for simply running the build.) This can easily become an issue for killers, since we're in a 1v4 dynamic. If a full-SWF or a partial-SWF gets mad or upset at a killer's play style, then they can dog pile reports onto the killer. If enough reports meet the quota and the player gets suspended automatically by the bot without review, then the automation system is open season for abuse.

That's why I want to bring this up for attention before the system gets implemented soon. No matter what game this automation system has been implemented, people have been known to abuse the system. Unfortunately, this game (like many others) does have a block of players who will cry foul at anything and call the moderators in. This is a video game and people should be allowed to enjoy the game however they want, as long it's in the game's rules, even if the play style is something you may disagree with.

It’s also not particularly helpful that many players are making innocent mistakes with interpretations of much of the terminology.

It’s understandable why many players who wouldn’t even come to these forums, or the games social media channels, report a killer for blocking a survivor into a corner or crevice for a hit, or use of their power, or just taunt the survivor for a little bit, because in their mind the report system says body blocking is reportable l, and is quite vague about specifically what type of body blocking is against the game rules.

So yeah, like you I’m concerned about genuine vindictiveness, but I’m more concerned about the monumental amount of reports that would get lodged daily due to misunderstanding the terminology of what’s reportable.

  • @Laluzi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2260355#Comment_2260355

Do you know how often survivors let each other go to second stage because they don't want to let go of their gen or think someone else has it covered? Or how often survivors just kill themselves for no discernible reason, or ragequit and DC when you pick them up because they're mad they're losing the game? This is especially bad when there's two survivors left, because if they're not both on death hook and you need more hooks to make iri devout, you risk one hatch camping or the hooked survivor nobly suiciding even if you bolt from that hook like it's contagious.

Any achievement that requires other players to behave a certain way isn't going to be easy, because you aren't in control of all of the variables.

It's also a PITA when you've got killers like Trapper that require early-game slowdown that isn't in his home perks, or Doctor whose power conflicts with one of his perks, or Hag who actively wants survivors to destroy one of her perks because perma-exposing survivors will ruin her emblems even if she ignores the mori aspect, or Myers, Billy, Oni, and Bubba who aren't allowed to use their power more than a few times unless they blatantly farm the survivors and let them pick each other up a few times, or Plague whose Chaser and Malicious emblems are entirely at the mercy of survivor decisions if she infects anyone. Huntress and Wraith are also in a special spot where you may as well be perkless, all of their base perks are so terrible, but luckily both of them are strong killers on their lonesome so you can get away with it without too much pain. Pre-buff Wraith was hellish, though.

There’s always a discernible reason for survivor hook suicide. Either they don’t like the killer, the killer was indeed camping or tunnelling the player, or a team mate screwed them over.

I lose count everyday of team mates kiting the killer past a gen I’m working on while Ruin is still up, and they don’t bother to jump on that gen to finish it before or when I’m finally downed. I’m not staying in games with crappy teammates like that, so guess what I do when I’m hooked...

  • @DwightFairfield said:

Please heal and do the objectives.

I have lost countless games because you spend the entire match chasing the killer to get flashlight saves, you spend the entire game BMing a killer instead of doing the objectives or healing, and then you get mad at the killer when they win.

Getting mad at a Wraith and calling them OP because you refused to heal, so the killer snowballed, does not suddenly validate all your points. Stop throwing games for points and maybe you'd have a better time.

Oh man so much this. I’m so tired of games being thrown by 1 or 2 survivors constantly chasing the killer with their flashlights, only to basically hook trade instead, causing me to constantly have to jump off gens to help while Ruin is still up. Drives me crazy.

Save, heal, help with the damn objective. Worry about flashlight saves when a down ACTUALLY OCCURS.

You’d rather wait 20 minutes for the match to end than to DC and wait 5 minutes?

    Bravo!

It’s against forum rules to encourage DC.

  • I tend to leave Hoarder on Twins simply due to the fact that Twins (namely Victor) are the only ones with both the speed and the stealth to enact on the information provided. It’s allowed for some very easy pounce attacks simply because most survivors rarely expect to be ambushed at a chest.

Yeah it’s crappy they still haven’t fixed the perk to also reduce item rarity, but if I’m getting free hits/downs, I’m ok still using the perk (only on Twins).

Paired with Franklin’s (or Spinning Top), Hoarder gives a lot of reliable tracking information.

  • I’d want a “stop” or “no” emote well and truly before any other type of emote.

The amount of times I’ve wanted to be able to tell a teammate “stop”, I’ve lost count.

    1. Sometimes switching bottles is buggy. I can switch from the Antidote to the Tonic (and vice versa), see the indicator, and bottle change colour, but still throw what was previously selected, which is infuriating. Using the wrong bottle just once can be enough to lose the game.
    2. I really want the ability to switch, and line up which bottle I want to use next to be completely 100% independent of any of the cool downs. I shouldn’t have to wait to switch bottles after an attack or throw.

No, you can’t, unless the survivors are bad. For most killers if time is spent wasted waiting around for the survivors to come to the other end you’re guarding, you have 4 survivors that are nowhere near close to death hook, and you’re left trying to run between 4 gens. Chase one, other 3 are free to repair at their leisure, and every chased survivor attempts the same thing: lead you to the other end of the map. It’s frustrating, and boring, and results in just needing to give up because it becomes a stalemate.

They are typically under an NDA when they work with licenses so they almost never give any information about them. The only thing they've really said about working with licenses is that "some are easier to work with than others" and we can kind of guess which ones were cool and which ones weren't.
