People cant pretend it doesnt sting, i absolutely adore this game and bought all the dlc.Fibijean said:@Terrortot Same. Honestly it's not a huge deal, but it's disappointing that there's barely any grind to speak of, and we don't even have the option to grind insane hours to unlock everything. I was excited and expecting this event to be more like previous ones in that sense, so it's just a bit of a letdown.
The true end game is character customization, which you unfortunately dont get with initial dlc purchase... Just expected more from special events.
The event will be a little underwhelming for me, i hope future content offers more through events to keep going for something other than perks while i have some to unlock still. -
Meh, im disappointed with it, but only because i thought they were all going to be unlockable for the event. I was looking forward to a reason to grind. Now i dont really care.

Gen rush means an overly altruistic end game. I usually camp the hook, try to get a hit off on the incoming unhooker, hit or grab off the save, let the other save, hook up the new one. Rinse and repeat until they leave on their last hooks.DeadByFlashlight said:@Terrortot said:
@DeadByFlashlight Exactly right on not finding a bad survivor. However, game design and point system allows you to sac 2 or get multiple hooks coupled with chase to pip up. Not designed to only be good if 4 kills, and i think that is a big frustration for some killers that dont get a 4k.Most of the time, one skilled survivor will get half the pallets, end game the others get caught in now palletless areas.
I have been in games where I only managed to get 1 or to hooks (hooks, not kills), but ofc that wasnt on billy/nurse. If the survivors decide to genrush you, there really isnt anything you can do with an unviable killer
Quick gens suck, but they are working on secondary objectives hopefully that will make the games last -
Thats always been the logical choice... Chase the healthy survivor or the injured one you already won a chase against? The killer is not looking out for you, he wants to kill you.

One survivor at a time.

@Terrortot Ok, and just out of curiosity: if it weren't for the totem problem - with which I totally agree as I, too, often play killer - what else is there that severely causes issues compared to simply good solo players?
From my experience:
-killer location (chasing or leaving and where on the map) gives everyone info where to be. Includes when to safe hook and when killer is in the area, or near your area so you can preemptively hide.
-survivor location gives everyone info on where you spawned, what totems/gens you see. Also allows you to tell what exit gate is open/closed.
- A big callout i see in streams often is when to finish last gen so that their friends adrenaline activates when they need it, such as taking a hit to unhook someone or a hit during a chase.
- killers perks are shown to a dead survivor, i have seen callouts about noed, devour hope. Anything that the team was unaware of. Dead survivors can also spectate and call out anything someone else doesnt that they see.
To name some, the general idea is that there is either an unnecessary perk to use in swf because comms is better (empathy, bond, borrowed time, alert etc), killer perks that are no longer useful (i cant think of anything besides anti chase perks that are not affected), and some things that you cant get in game without comms (precise location, map coordination, viewing killer perks).
I would LIKE to play against swf, but its not entertaining in the slightest atm. Im all for friends playing together, game just needs better design for it.
-
@unclevincent i like the concept of swf, comms just kills alot of the game. I see it on streamers channels and ive seen it in the games i tried. Every time killer geys called out, totem gets called out and someone says "hes chasing me get the ruin in the garage" well... #########.
And no, not all swf are pro. Just messes up the game enough that im not interested in playing them again.
I would rather see reworks of things that are imbalanced on comms than for it to be taken away. Just has to be worth my time playing killer. -
I use quick crouches with urban evasion during chases, helps cover tracks to get away. A slow before and/or after crouching would make that difficult, just to baby people who get feelings hurt over an animation.DeadByFlashlight said:@Terrortot said:
Problem is crouch is an important function for survivor play.Devs already stated teabagging is not bannable, which means it stays.
Just ignore them. Dont go to gates and go break some pallets you may have missed, or go afk and do something for a bit.
This is a horror themed, competitive game. Its about doing x to get x points. The toxic players arent playing the game, they are playing you. Dont get so tilted over an animation.
Crouching is an important function for pig too.
Yet pig cant tbagg probably.Does the ability to crouch very fast in a short amount of time affect the actual gameplay? I doubt that, just like flashlight clicking its a feature of the game only used by toxic survivors. There is literally no reason gameplaywise why these "features" should be in the game
I think its toxic, thats just how some people are. It would make more sense to disable crouching in the exit gates. Then you would have a better chance at downing them.
Unfortunately, nothing is going to solve toxic behavior end game as long as a player has the time to do so. -
@unclevincent im not salty. Just tried it, saw why its not fun, dodge ever since. Im sure theres some killer that will take the games eventually, not entertaining to me and no reason to ready up.
-
OP says bye to the community with no salt and a friendly farewell, almost every comment is toxic towards them.
Can we get some kind of age verification for the forums and game in general?
-
If you arent out the exit gates, then you havent earned the escape points. It is literally the end game to try to save the last person or leave. There is 0 reason to leave the hook, everything will be happening right there.Mediva said:As far is i have read, killers were against the upcoming camping patch because it would give survivors a free unhook. But to me, not punishing camping after exit gates are open, is the same for killers. Its basically a free kill then that you didnt deserve. Feel free to camp then if you really must have a kill. But take the extra minus points as well for it then too.
The killer gets points for chasing breaking hitting and killing. Why would anyone in their right minds leave their points on the hook when you know the other survivors are either closeby to save or waiting at the edge of the exit.
Please try playing the whole game and not be so ignorant about what is actually going on. -

Still prefer healing myself after chase while others are doing gens.

I was the last survivor in a myers game. When he downed me, i got to see a myers moonwalk show.
Need to learn how to do that, didnt think you could on ps4 -
You have to be really good at running the killer around to make your bp that way.
Ive had 2 games in 2 days with some obsessed billys chasing me entire game. Went through every pallet, escaped both times.
Unfortunately, i received more points for maxxing out bold and survival then the others that just got to do gens.
I think the game is more geared towards short chases alternating survivors. Tunneling kills points for everyone. -
In your head, killer gets hella lag beginning of chase and even worse now when an effect pops up.
Still happy with the changes, but need some fps love soon -

With King Edward (big potato) being on sale, I decided to give him a try. He's actually quite fun to play...If you like chainsawing barrels, fences, kids' garden swings etc...
Which I do, so that's nice. BUT it turns out that chainsawing a Jake is almost as satisfying as putting a trap on his head.
Yesterday I gave insidious leatherface a try too in order to test the new camping penalty. (still piped btw)
Qas surprised that it was actually quite fun, more fun than runing in circles at least....The salt after game was hilarious too

Nice vid btw @Peasant

Stop touching the generator.Chrona said:@ZombieGenesis said:
I love the survivor reply "Nah, we like it the way it is. Just stop using it(we like that even more!)"The thing is Ruin isn't that intimidating. I used to be intimidated by it when I played survivor now not so much. I just power through. Even so leaving it as is AND taking it off of a hex might be a bit much. Maybe it's power should be linked to how many gens there are left. Either it starts strong and gets weaker the more gens they do or it starts weak and gets stronger the fewer gens are left. Or just make it's effect not quite as intense.
The problem I have with ruin isn't that it's a hex, that it effects everyone, etc etc etc. I have one issue: skill checks can trigger while the generator is still in that 3-second no progress phase. Meaning it can very easily snowball and get 3 skillcheck back to back and undo literally all your progress.
Honestly, if they made it just so that another skillcheck couldn't trigger while the progression is stopped from the ruin effect, that would solve most of my issues with it.
Though having it scale its power to how many generators are left is an interesting idea.

I agree with OP. Replace crows with eagles.

Love the low tier insidious and nurse combo. Spirit must be p2w.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but PS players got DBD for free recently. BVHR needs to get with Xbox Team and have DBD on Games for Gold sometime by the end of the year. I feel like I run into the same people all the time and I'm pretty sure it's because this game is not that popular on Xbox.
Maybe we will get console crossplay, sony is testing it with fortnite -
Its a pain getting t3 perks. This makes easier to mess around with it as soon as i get it.
-
I don't host games for swf unless im practicing a certain killer. Too much of a hassle with how much you know when talking to each other.
-
Yea, no. Thats 2/4 perk slots to make it happen, should be a viable strategy.
If you run ruin/bbq then you cant run anti pallet/window perks with clourophobia and sloppy. Just a style of play, should be allowed to keep perks relevant. -
Framerate is a little cucked right now on ps4. Delay your non lunges by a sec or two after it finishes and youll do fine.
Also not able to grab survivors properly, only counts as a hit but will do part of the grab animation. -
Skill checks are client side not host, you can be in the middle of killer disconnect and skill checks will still appear.Kilmeran said:@CoolAKn said:

@Kilmeran Starting as a survivor will certainly help you learn the pacing of the game. It also helps by showing you what survivors experience; what they can see and hear. You'll also get a feel for how they move and roam around the map, which can help for anticipating their moves as a killer. I suggest at least always doing the survivor dailies even if you're a killer main.Originally, I found Survivor boring, but that was also frustration by the Skill Checks not stopping precisely when I hit the button. Considering I have a top-of-the-line keyboard and set-up, that pissed me off to no end. I have never had a game with any delay in key-press to action before.
But if that's the best way to learn the game, I suppose I have dealt with worse things in games in the past.
Edit: Actually, it was more than that. The delay was inconsistent. Sometimes there would be that delay several skill checks in a row, or an entire match. Then, all of a sudden, it wouldn't delay, which then caused the skill check to miss early because I was pressing for the delay. That ######### is what made me originally walk away from survivor.
I find myself in the same boat. Some matches, the delay becomes too much that I feel practically worthless for the entire match. I'd play killer more if the lobbies didn't take an hour to fill up.
Yeah, and it makes it more difficult to develop the muscle memory for it. Will it delay? If so, how much? Will it not delay? Why the hell is this a needed prayer to RNGesus?

Thats exactly what empathy does... Tells you where the killer has been, who and where someone was hit, and if the killer is chasing them. It is absolutely better than alert imo.Global said:@Dreamnomad said:

I don't think the infinite range was necessary, I did think it needed a range increase but not this much. I think it should've been 24/36/48 meters for 6 seconds and a cooldown of 45 seconds.Fortunately for us all, you don't make the decisions around here. Can you really say it is a better perk than Empathy in terms of information provided? That already has infinite range, no cooldown, and no duration limitation. Pfft, 45 seconds.
So a perk that doesnt help the survivor know were the killer is and basically doesnt help the survivor running it at all is comparable to a perk that lets you see the killer werever they are? Yea sure....

I have yet to notice a change with the healing except it's easier to get up when slugged. I get injured then either escape or get hooked and saved and then get healed by one or two other people. I don't run self-care but I will use first aid kits and the few times I have healed on my own I barely noticed the extra 4 seconds. I mean...it's 4 seconds.
Its 4 seconds that distances you from the killer, who will either continue to look for you or be much further from where they lost you, most likely in a new chase.
It also changes anti-heal perks and how long survivors can take 2 hits per encounter. Many games today, survivors chose to stay injured and the games were extremely active.
-
Old range was horrible.
I would say a cooldown would make it feel more balanced, enough time that a killer could break a second pallet or gen before it activated again.
Still not a sell for my survivor loadout though, i always thought the gen silence was interesting, maybe if that stopped regression of the failed check.
Either way, its more relevant and not game breaking. -
OR.... Drum roll please.
We can talk about balance issues that affect both sides so that the game improves by being entertaining to play survivor or killer.
And if you are only playing one side, then you dont enjoy this game. There is no 80% 20% base, because the minority only play one side.
Posts like this just make you look immature. Devs are trying to make a balance thats enjoyable for everyone, people like you are useless for those kinds of ideas. -

Though I am not wild about the healing nerf, or the window nerf as a survivor, I do like them as a killer. I'm more afraid that the attempt to limit aggressive survivor play will do a lot of harm unless stealth play gets a boost vs aura reading killer talents.
That said, I think there is only one very bad adjustment in this patch, and that is the swamp changes. I've played 7 matches in swamp today as both killer and survivor. Every one of them was a 4k. The killer (I used Shape, Pig, and Trapper) can control that map with absolute ease now. You can see both exits from either the boathouse, or the Pantry. I have amazing view of the whole field for stalking with Shape when I'm on the boathouse.
As survivor, we could hardly avoid the Dr.s aura when he had extended aura perks. All you saw all match was screaming all over. He just needed to move around the middle and pick targets. Nurse was an absolute joke. Hag owned the map with absolute ease. She was able to camp three hooks while keeping an eye on doors.
The big problem is generator placement. They are way too condensed now. I was able to pick 5 gens to monitor with ease as Pig, Shape, and Trapper. A couple of well-placed traps limited movement outside of my zone. I was surprised at how easy it was.
Agree about pale rose. My survivor game went into a 3 gen patrol, wasn't able to get around it, since there was more than 3 bunched up.
I think chopping the map was fair it was larger than it needed to be, but needs some tlc for gen placement\chase areas. -
Radiant said:So killers can camp the stair to prevent unhook! And 1 gen camping comes free!Pretty good job!XD

Patch made sabo relevant, longer times before chasing again via healing up.
Its fun on both sides, this should absolutely not be a "im survivor and i cant survive" cryfest.
Extremely sad to see the entitled posts, makes survivor playerbase look bad. -

This is only my second rank reset, im just using it to practice blinks and hatchets.
Not sure whats so fun about low ranks, they have the highest chances for toxic players.
Had one game as huntress where a guy stayed hidden when everyone left for about 10 minutes. I just practiced hatchet throwing, he finally tried to come up and flash me i just ignored him and kept practicing until he left.
Im not a god player, but i have some skill enough to get to red ranks easily, some people struggle that's ok. The only great thing about low ranks is i hope the rookie survivors are getting the same thrill as i did when i first played. -
Every single one of them should be deleted.
Also, i have never had any. -
Well they were going to be in the forums for up to 2 weeks instead of playing the game, i thought maybe everyone could say what alternative game they would be playing?powerbats said:While i see the humour in this thread I also see how this could be seen as a flame bait thread. Civ 5? -
The bad mannered survivors are a certain type. They arent playing to enjoy the game, they play to try and tilt other players.
Same people that will abuse exploits and not care about bans, or send horrible messages.
Same people that dc when they are downed or miss their ds.
They dont want to play the game, and hopefully when they add bans to ps4 they can go to some other game. -
It used to tilt me when i was learning the game, and took me awhile to realize my low rank games were full of swf bringing their red rank friends.
Dont really care anymore tbh, especially since most of the tea baggers were also the players that dc on first down, who are now taking a vacation. -
Looks like lately the forum is full of dc mains. *grabs more popcorn*Dudddd said:

Please go play another game if you're so dissatisfied with this game. Don't need DC-ing people, sorry, off you go.
I for one welcome a ban wave for both obnoxious messages and DC-s. Though, @powerbats , I gotta say, DC is much worse than some racist slur thrown at you. Seen worse than what you quoted there. Granted, it's plenty nasty, but just words.
I'll definitely join @RuneStarr and buy meself some sexy skins only to show my appreciation. -
Love bald dwights. If there is 2 or more dwights with glasses i switch to huntress since ill need to use lockers to refill hatchets anyways.White_Owl said:I noticed this everytime I play with the original bald Dwight: killers seem willing to drop whatever they are doing as soon as they get a glimpse of his smooth scalp just to chase me, while when I play my mains (Nea and Jake) this doesn't happen. Dont play with your best addons, its not fair.
-
Dont waste your money atm. Unless you can deal with waiting 7 seconds to hit someone you sleep.
I had alot of fun with him for a bit, but not a killer i play anymore. Hoping his rework is great.
His perks let you play differently, endgame instead of helping during, still not that great. -
I like the bone clapper idea, lullaby radius addons are a hard sell for me because of eztra hatchets/procs or decreased skill checks/power ranges. Doesn't seem worth it.
-
Im coming up on p1 all killers, p2 on nurse, p2 on survivor.
Its been entertaining starting over from scratch now that i have a better understanding of the game.
I could see it becoming boring once the grind is over, p3 50 all perks and such, but still plenty entertaining.
