So you are asking to make boon totems one time use whilst keeping the current snuff time? You don’t see how that’s an issue? What if killer hexes could be snuffed out instantly? That is not how balance works..
Time off boons are time off objectives, no matter how you try to spin it. It’s not a survivor’s fault that you chose not to snuff a boon and let them capitalize on it. Killers complained when survivors just held M1 on gens, so the devs added more objectives.
That survivor you are chasing is not gonna have enough time to heal even with a boon whilst in a chase with you. Sure, it affects hit and run methods where you just hit multiple survivors and leave them all injured. Metas are always changing, so maybe your playstyle should too?
Ahh yes, the all new "killer is not allowed to apply pressure meta". I personally have no idea how to balance boons. However, from the perspective of a long time killer the meta feels as unbalanced now as it did when OoO was a SWF meta pick.

It's pretty clear some people just want every killer to be an easy 4 man escape.
Its a good thing the devs seem to agree with that sentiment.

As long as BHVR can keep acquiring new players faster than people quit, I doubt they care. That's their whole strategy.

Sorry, but I still can't see your argument about why the killer experience is better now than it was now. I don't know what you mean by "cheeses". My point stands that it is harder now than it was to be killer two years ago. If anything your above points kinda make it sound like you agree with me.
To chime in, I think object of obsession made the game hard for killer a year or two ago. Im not sure it was harder than the current meta in general, but it made games against swf very difficult.

ONE counter play is to drop the chase. Another is to snuff the totem. It's also possible you've got a way of tracking survivors that isn't reliant on aura reading, like Doctor's shock or Legion's killer instinct, things of that nature.
Also, that doesn't mean you should drop the chase instantly whenever you realise Shadow Step is present. Only if you know the survivor you're chasing is going to make good use of it, or if they're leading you away from the rest of the objectives.
Basically, the counter play to Shadow Step is to use your brain.
Wow. Convincing arguement. So the counter is to use one of a selection of trash tier killers, who struggle in most matchups againt a good surv team. Or as an altetnative i need to "use my brain" against a perk that robs me of base game tracking. Amazing. Also, is it necessary that you come off as insulting. Do you think it makes you sound smarter?

Alright, let's address that. Let's assume that a survivor has Iron Will and they're inside the Shadow Step radius- the first question is, where are they? Plenty of totem spots don't really provide that much ability to use that, so we're also going to assume that it's somewhere reasonable like a jungle gym.
That's the one situation where you do want to break the totem in chase- or just leave and chase someone else, which is already a reasonable decision against someone using Iron Will anyway. Don't waste your time on survivors that'll take ages to down, regardless of Shadow Step.
So you are saying the counter play is to drop the chase. Wow, what was i thinking. I guess having to give up chase on an entire section of the map isn't THAT strong. Not like killers dont already have to do that on certain busted map tiles. Say, we should give survivors active camoflauge too. As sight is now the only way to track survivors, cant have that.
-
@jesterkind said:

I didn't say it wasn't strong, I said it wasn't that strong- which it isn't. There are killers with hidden scratch marks as part of their basekit, because it's the perfect option for making a chase a little harder without making it impossible to win.
Straight up, if you find yourself incapable of tracking a survivor just because there aren't any scratch marks (with exceptions for maps where that is genuinely difficult, like Lery's), that's a you problem.
Scratch marks are the only reliable way to track survivors around loops when you cant see or hear them. In a meta where iron will is common how are you supposed to track an injured surv in the boon totem area? It IS that strong. There is no real counter play.

Me too, but I have my doubts. This game has some serious potential. But the poor decisions the devs keep making continue to stack up. I’m seriously just starting to think they care more about sales at this point then the actual community.
Hmm, I think you may be on to something. 🤔

Given the speed of healing in the circle, and team coordination around the boon zone, do you think CoH makes Sloppy useless?
As someone who loves sloppy and uses it to slow down the match, I'm concerned.
Healing slowdown builds have been in the bin for a while imo.

Tbf in almost any game only a small portion of it is truly viable at higher level play, and if something is too strong then its banned in tourney play
DbD is nothing special when it comes to this
No killer with the exception of nurse stands a snowballs chane against survs running all meta perks and high end items. Thats why comp has so many rules about what perks, items and maps can play. Even then the game is fairly lopsided.

Yeah you all think your funny. It's always funny till it's you with the dumbass teammeates who can't do gens in 3 minute chases.
I would still think its funny. The balance in this game is a joke. Imagine getting bent out of shape about a digital game of tag.
-
M1 spirit allows no counter play, plz nerf!
-
I dont think MMR would be so bad if the game had some semblance of balance. The "nuclear" options that both sides have is absurd. You cant possibly balance a game when things like mother daughter ring and ranger medkits exist, not to mention perk selection. Solo surv needs to be buffed to line up with swf, then killers buffed to balance. This needs to be done with the highest level of play in mind, if its balanced at the top it will be balanced all the way down.

I am against NOED on everyone, whoever the killer is, cause only truly awful players use it. And especially so on instadown killers.
I think its funny that so many survivor mains get so worked up about noed. Its not that great of a perk on most of the roster. I legit hope it gets nerfed so i never have to hear about it again. Then maybe the devs will finally get to work balancing iron will and dead hard.
-
Many people used to run it. It was nerfed a year or so ago, i imagine most people that ran it dropped it after that. Old OoO was beyond busted, an absolute nightmare when run by even a halfway decent swf.

Unless you're playing Billy or Demo STBFL is overrated compared to other perks you can run, I wanna address the killers besides Demo that are famous for their STBFL synergy.
Trapper: Trapper can get good use out of this perk, but you could use something like Agitation or something else to lock an area down, or just slowdown gens, it's a good choice on Trapper but imo it gets outclassed.
Doctor: This is an ok perk for Doc, I know Otz got his streak with this on Doctor but if you don't pair it with Discordance, it's not that good, this is also an ok perk with the Restraint class of addons but eh, there's other things that are better for Doctor, like Sloppy for instance, it stacks up with Madness in terms of wasted time meanwhile Save might shorten a chase.
Pig: If they see you going into crouch at a loop, they're gonna run away and do their best to force an M1 out of you.
Deathslinger: Due to his movement speed, he can't really afford to ignore someone all game unless you're cracked out of your mind.
Nemisis: This is especially one that I heavily disagree with. The tentacle is extremely good at pretty much any loop if you use it right and if you do nothing but M1 all game, you will suffer massively due to you not tiering up infection and not being able to get your hits sooner. At low loops, you are nearly as lethal as Huntress or Trickster and going for an M1 just for the pallet to get dropped is horrifically bad. Nemi's tentacle is underrated when it comes to being good with it because that 3rd health state doesn't matter, you're a quickdraw Pyramid Head that can and will get use out of your power at any point you have LoS at short range. If you replace Save with a good info perk like Lethal or Infectious, your snowball game will be way better than if you had Save.
Now I know you saw me mention Billy being on the same level as Demo for Save value and I know it looks crazy but I'll explain: When it comes to the best Billy builds, Bamboozle is a common ally of Billy's due to windows being his hard counter. Save is just a replacement option for Bamboozle so that when the M1 gets forced, you can get back onto them faster with a follow-up chainsaw to catch up.
I generally only run it on hag, most of the time it is a bit of a dice roll if it will get going or not though. When it does it allows for snowballs i wouldnt be able to get otherwise. That being said i do usually sub franklins for it if survivors are bringing in 4 medkits or something equally as silly.

Im not sure? Im of the opinion iw has no real counter outside of plague.

can it get worse? I feel some survivors are going to come in and say git gud, fine. When killers can't track, and soon survivors can heal themselves without a med kit or someone else to heal them. This is huge. No one will be playing killer. If no one plays killer the game is dead. Ive already seen more killers DC in the past two days then I have in the past year of playing. It's going to be really bad when the heal boon comes in
I won't even comment on NFT.
The combination of iron will and shadow step is a bit busted. I mean, what is the counter play?

Could always adjust and nerf numbers for survivor perks after the fact to reel things in.
Potentially, but I think if the games current balance is any indication it would just make the survivor killer gap wider. It would take a huge amount of perk reworks on both sides for five perk slots to be remotely balanced.
-
I would quit the game, that would give survivors 4 extra perk slots as a team. No thanks.
-
Trust me when i say at least one fifth of the player base is also sick of dead hard. Have you tried sprint burst? I hear its very nice this time of year.

Lol.

I know infectious fright is technically a tracking perk, but in my experience ita generally used for slugging. I imagine there aren't more perks for it simply because being slugged is "unfun" for survivors.

It really depends on how talented the survivors im playing against are. I tend to have a more relaxed approach, but my games have been getting tougher and tougher.

title. Mikaela is a prime example of why we should be able to:
A: Activate the hex on our terms on a dull totem
B: actually get use from the hex without it 90% of the time spawning next to the survivors and i get 0 benefit and minus a perk slot.
C: The fact that they gave survivors the ability to do this over killers just screams survivor sided devs even louder to me but thats my opinion.
The random nature of the hex spawn plays into the risk/reward of such powerful perks. I dont think that will be changed. In my opinion the real problem is how powerful the meta survivor perks are considering they have little or no down side, and how lackluster the vast majority of non hex killer perks are.

I understand what you mean but I don't know what you are trying to tell me. There is no official ranking list.
Sorry, your original post was a little hard to digest. I was just trying to get across that the game is only ranked, even with invisible rating and no leader board.

We should balance around people having sweaty matches in kyf? Why?

Woah. Technically with the introduction of mmr ranked is the ONLY mode available in game. The better i play, the sweatier the competition. Scaling upwards forever as the cap moves up. I get it, but its a bummer at the same time.

From a killers perspective i would say iron will or dead hard. Iron will specifically gives me fits occasionally.

Plague by a mile. Mobility is really the only thing her kit lacks.

I low key wish map offerings would be straight up removed. Its just more bloat on the blood web. Most of the time it just feels like one more advantage for swfs.

Probably spirit. Im not sure if the flicks that i have seen high tier nurse and blight mains on pc pull off are even entirely possible on console.

It does make him harder to detect since his Lullaby is at a half way point of distance, instead of being close. Which actually makes perks like Monitor still some what useful on him since you can't tell if he's coming closer, or if he's leaving the area.
What is monitor buying you though? With a lullaby killer the survs already know you are there, its not like its allowing you to get any closer to them. Even on killers with a smaller TR like hag I think the utility is probably limited.
