As many others have suggested already, they need to remove perk tiers, or possibly reduce the amount of blood points required to unlock everything in the blood webs upon prestiging. Given how many perks now exist across the vast amount of killers and survivors in the game, tiers are no longer necessary.

I never had a chance to play Old Freddy as I hopped into this game after he was already reworked, but I remember watching old streams of his power and it seemed like really competent survivors were able to take advantage of the fact that they had to be pulled into the dream world before taking damage. Was this really never an issue?

Has the dust settled, though? Feels like there's still some issues to work out with it. I played on it today and besides the fact that it was still laggy, Sprint Burst just straight up did not work the entire game. It would trigger without any change in speed whatsoever. It's hard to really think about how good or bad the map is when it's still so glitchy.
Those glitches are why the map has such low odds of appearing in your game, and why the map offerings don't work. It's crazy to think that the Resident Evil chapter has been out for nearly a month, and the new map still isn't fully playable.🤦
-
Look to each their own, but copying the exact map layout from Resident Evil 2 does not mean it also makes for a good dead by daylight map. The map in Resident Evil 2 was intentionally made big because Mr. X was constantly hunting you down. But for a 1v4 game, that same layout doesn't work well at all.
-
Yeah it's too damn big. They really need to break up the top floor and the bottom floor into their own maps. I agree that the attention to detail is amazing, but it makes for a truly awful DBD map.

You can’t blame survivors for wanting to farm BP during an event where they can get 180k everygame. That means 1 million bp every 6 games if you’re lucky and get a farming killer every match. Normally they earn 20k BP in a match which means 50 games just to earn the same amount of BP.
It's funny, I've had the exact opposite experience. The last few Killer games that I played I tried farming with the survivors since we all had brought in cakes, but the survivors didn't want to farm, which is fine, so we ended up playing the game as usual. But then surprise, surprise, just as they are about to die and lose their crowns, then all the sudden they want to farm and be cooperative. I was like, "screw that, I tried playing nice and you didn't want to", so they ended up losing the crowns that they worked so hard to escape with.
Simply put, don't get pissed if the Killer doesn't follow your rule book.

Spine Chill as survivor, and Surge as killer. I looove me some Surge.
I keep going back and forth between rather or not kicking generators is a waste of time. But Surge is definitely a great way around that.

Self Care. Red Rank Survivor and Killer btw.
I can play without it, but then I end up running another healing perk like Inner Strength or Bond to find people etc. Why do that though when you can establish dominance by healing on top of hills?
I agree. I can't count how many times that self care has saved my hide. I've used it far more than any medkit will get me that's for sure.

Borrowed Time. Frankly, i've had too many situations where teammates would have just never made it out otherwise to take it off.
Yep. BT or Small Game is my go-to teammate perk. Hexes are so popular these days that it's hard not to run a totem detection perk.

This is precisely why I cannot wait for the offline bot matches with the mid chapter update. Nothing helps you detox from a sweaty toxic match more than being able to hop into a carefree game with bots.

Nothing in that snippet says anything new has been added. If they were allowing you to practice other killers I'd expect them to state that. Although it does seem odd that they would mention in the PTB notes something that is already in the game.
You can't call the turtorial "hands on experience". Why copy and paste the online tutorial for offline? There has to be clearly more to it.

Nothing would make me happier than to be able to play vs bots and destroy them after having a bad match. Put those ######### bots in their place.
I really hope they make a good offline mode.
Same. You can't really call it "hands on experience" if it's just a copy and paste of the turtorial version.

Try doing the wraith strategy hit n run
Run Lethal Purser and infect as many people as possible to get to tier 2 but occasionally m1 if you can
M1 is definitely the safest way to land a hit, but unfortunately the safest way to land a hit with the tentacle is at windows and pallets, which unfortunately is also a big disadvantage.

It must have done something right I guess. 😄

This is why I refrain from hitting survivors as Nemmy and opt to only destroy pallets.
I prefer to use STBFL and only use my power to:
Get to Tier 2, Break Pallets/Walls instantly or only whip someone at a certified "I didn't know Nemmy could use his whip at this loop to hit me, im going to the forums to complain" loop and watch them be confused.
If you enjoy him its good to feel out when to use the whip and once you break enough safe pallets you are more likely to benifit from the whip.
Yeah using it at windows and pallets is really the only safest way to land a hit, and plenty of players are able to take advantage of that.

It's in already. the bare minimum in the tutorial menu. sad.
No that's the tutorial. In the developer update today they said that an offline practice mode with bots is coming in the mid chapter update.
-
They just announced today in the developer update that an offline practice mode with bots will be coming in in the mid chapter update.
-
In the developer update today they announced that there will be an offline practice mode with bots coming in the mid chapter update. This will allow all players, but more specifically newer players, the ability to practice real-world scenarios before hopping into an online match. Practicing mechanics that you're not used to against highly skilled players is not a good training tool, so this will go a long way towards easing players into online matches.
-
In my opinion, Blight is the better version of Legion. Not only does he have the speed, but his power recharges very quickly. The downside about Legion is that his power is very easily countered. So long as survivors separate and work on generators, it robs him/her of being able to injure multiple survivors. Worst of all, is that if you miss a single attack while your power is active or deplete your entire power, you incur a stun that is on par with decisive strike, and it takes forever to build back up.
They definitely need a buff.
-
@FilthyLegionMain said:
Yeah it may sound good and all but what about the bot matches?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Z1OB6D76ROYQ/image.png
We want bots in custom and they aren't giving a damn about that! Mobile did it very well when they updated it to have custom a week ago. They better follow through.
Actually that's exactly what it sounds like it is, an offline custom game mode with bots. I know in the past they were concerned about it splitting the player base, which is no doubt why it's offline and not online.
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
If it gives blood points, I would love it to play killers I am bad at such as my acutie angle, Triangel of Death, with his cute little bubble butt. These survivors be exposing me, but a bot? Good luck, cuh.
Actually the mobile game already does that for their mode with bots. It only gives you a fraction of the total amount of blood points and experience you would otherwise get in an online match, but it still gives you something. Now obviously it would be great if the same thing were to apply here, but the fact that we're finally getting it at all is a small miracle!
-
BBQ, Surge, Tinkerer, SB. This way I don't have to worry about kicking generators and just focus on the chase.

Or tombstone the bot's a***s match after match.
There are so many builds I want to try but I've never had the necessary amount of friends that play this game to try it out. And naturally when I try it in an online match it goes all to hell. I can't believe it's taken 5 years to get something like this, but I guess better late than never.

It will be nice to just run around and stab people as legion without a care
And really what better way to help detox from a real sweaty toxic online match then by hopping into a game with bots? LOL

@sevensixtwodraco said:
Meanwhile I get like 4 a bloodweb as killer 😂
And that's simply because cakes are the only event items that Killers have access to, whereas survivors have so much more. But this just highlights why there should be at least one node dedicated to cakes only in the blood web.
-
I'm definitely ecstatic at knowing that there will be a proper offline mode with bots. I just hope and pray that it allows you to use any killer and perks that you want. People have been asking for an offline custom match mode for a long time!

@Wazzup said:
Sorry - I just wanted to make sure whether this refers to new changes? As your second paragraph seems to imply that we can use any killer in the tutorial?
The first paragraph is just a copy and paste from the developer update. The second paragraph is my own personal hopes.

I get one on my clair every other level at least. From what I have seen though everyone is ruining the event. My first survivor match was 4 cakes and the bubba was swinging at gen, swinging at pallets, so we all went to farm with him. We were memeing with him to let him know we were down to farm as well and he chainsawed all of us. As killer if 3 cakes at least are played I hook each survivor one at a time to signal I am not try harding an everyone can get points and instead of realizing that no one is in immediate danger since I'm playing that way and you have a ######### hook counter they proceed gen jockey and hide when my TR comes to close. Had 5 cake game at start of the day (played nice) and they rushed the gens, opened the gates, and left. Even worse 1 hid the whole game so I didn't even get my 4th stack. I really just hate everyone right now so I am just playing normal now. I undying/hope a group at 3 gens right after that game which sucks but no one seems to give a ######### about my points so why I care about theirs?
Yeah it's literally a 50/50 shot at getting a friendly killer and/or survivor. If you're playing a cake, I would be prepared to play the game normally, however if you have a different offering you want to throw up, then rely on the survivor cakes to see if you can't get them to farm with you.
-
@Seraphor said:
Yep, it seems like survivor bloodwebs have to share their limited event item slots (about 2-4) between Cakes and event Items. Meanwhile killers get nothing but cakes.
At the very least, survivors should get twice as many event drops in their webs, with maybe a 50% weight to Cakes and then 50% shared between the other event items.
I think what they should do is dedicate a slot to just cakes and then the rest can be RNG.
-
@Shooby said:
Common and Uncommon mystery boxes (brown and yellow) found in bloodwebs have a chance to drop an event cake.
Try to prioritize these when you're spending BP a little bit more than usual.
I did notice that, which is nice. But sadly the cake spawns for survivor haven't increased for me so I've been playing more killer which I don't necessarily like to do given the state of matchmaking.
-
@HighwayCatalyst said:
Apparently, it's got a really low spawn rate, because they're still monitoring it. I think??
I've gotten it twice in the past two days.
Yep. I've played roughly 20 matches since it was put back in rotation and I haven't gotten it once. Simply put, if BHVR doesn't feel confident activating map offerings for RPD, then it shouldn't have been put back in rotation.
-
Yep, but I also see it when I play killer. Granted it's better than it was, but it still sucks.
-
@NightWolfsFury said:
This is so weird that people are getting so few cakes... While they're not ABUNDANT, I've been able to gain at least 2-3 cakes after every match that has 3+ cakes in it. I started with 18 last night and after 3 hours, ended with 33 on Jill after using a cake every match.
I'm either getting extremely lucky or other players are getting extremely unlucky.
Yeah I'm not sure how it's being doled out, but a lot of players are reporting that while some characters will get a lot, other characters will hardly get any. Personally I like to play with Jill over Leon, but given how few cakes I get with her, I'm going to have to change it to someone else or stick with killer only.
-
@ChurchofPig said:
What they need is to have more than 1 or 2 spots in each bloodweb dedicated to event items. Especially seeing how they continuously add more and more different event items every year for survivor.
I think that therein is the problem. Killers don't have event items outside of cakes so they get cakes left and right, whereas survivors have event cakes, flashlights, tool boxes, and medkits. What they need to do is have slots dedicated to cakes only and then the rest can be whatever.
-
@van9684 said:
It was weird for me too. Leon got a ton, 16 cakes so far. Dwight got nothing, and Jills sucks too. Yesterday was better than today on all blood webs. How long does this event go for?
A few weeks if I'm not mistaken.
-
@Angelicus23 said:
I did a full levelling thanks to saving points and the 500k gifts. From level 1 to 50 in prestige 3 I got 16 cakes on Jill.
16 cakes in 50 levels
That's ridiculous. I don't prestige my characters, but I unlocked more blood webs with my Freddy, and within 10 blood webs I've already amassed 12 cakes! Like I said they really want you playing killer during this event.
-
@puncher said:
Same here. I spent 300k bp and only got 1 cake for my p3 Jane :(
Yeah they really don't want you playing survivor during the event do they? 😕
-
@APoipleTurtle said:
The matchmaker wasn't set to favor the new map yet, so you only have like a 1 in 36 (~3%) chance of getting it.
Wow. To think of all the new players that jumped into this game because of Resident Evil, and no doubt they are probably hating every minute of it. It's bad enough that the game runs like crap, and that the grind is painstaking for newcomers, but the fact that there's no proper mode that would allow new players to train unless they amass a group of friends to play a game that they themselves just started playing...it's amazing we stick around at all.
When the day comes and dead by daylight has legit competition, people will be so quick to kick this game to the curb, and rightly so.
-
The only downfall with that logic is that the devs have been talking about MMR for god knows how long now. I wager the next gen consoles will have been out for a full year before it even goes live. They keep saying that ranks will no longer matter and that instead it will be used as a reward system, but no one knows when that will be. They keep testing it, but giving no actual concrete information on how it works, let alone when it'll be released.
I mean no offense when I say this, but you need to grow some thick skin and just grin and bear the disaster that is matchmaking right now. Use the event to your advantage to accrue a lot of blood points. Once it's over, then you can go back to ignoring the game, and honestly so too will I.

@MadLordJack said:
I've been having a good time. Every trial has a cake burned, so more BP, and I'm just enjoying getting the new crowns and having fun with survivor (everyone in AU is playing killer for BP and extra cakes)
@GeneralV said:
That depends. If you just want to level up a character or two, it is worth playing it.
If you just want to enjoy a nice event, then don't even bother.
Yeah it seems like if you want to accrue a lot of blood points and level up characters then it's worth it, but otherwise not really. I agree that if you're not having fun, then what's the point?
-
@Mysticwarriormj said:
From what I've experienced....No. Its not fun at all.
@thrawn3054 said:
Not really. At least I haven't. I've given up on it.
I just got home and I was looking forward to hopping into the event, but I couldn't help but notice the plethora of issues that gamers have been reporting on. I just cannot wrap my head around how inept BHVR is by continuing to pretend like the game is perfectly functional to launch the event when the chapter is still buggy as hell.
-
Yeah it was a struggle to get crowns last year too. There were plenty of matches where I had the crown, but lost it just as I was about to escape. Personally I don't like to wear them because I like to play stealthily, but your best hope is to come across a farming killer, or hope you're on a team that plays well.
-
Yeah like another person said you can't unlock crowns for licensed characters. Personally I think it's stupid. You're not changing the actual look of the character, just giving them something that floats above their head. But honestly I wasn't a fan of the crowns during the year 4 anniversary since it's damn near impossible to be sneaky with them on which is how I like to play.
-
Like EvilJoshy said, you'll be back next month. LOL Why? Because we all say that. But here's the thing, you're not wrong in your frustration. Dead by Daylight is a broken, buggy, toxic mess, which is why I hope that one day we see a true offline mode with bots. What better way to cleanse the pallet of a really toxic bug filled match than by playing a match with bots like you can on mobile?
-
Obviously right now there are more important things for the devs to address, but at some point I definitely see them removing the speed boost that survivors get from being infected. Getting injured should be the only thing that gives survivors a speed boost.
-
You help him by playing something else. Seriously. Resident Evil brought in so many new players that they're seeing for themselves just how broken DBD has been all these years.
It's been almost a month since the Resident Evil chapter was released and the map is still unplayable and the performance broken. It's ridiculous. Like I said, show him something better until this mess gets sorted out.
-
Capcom has to be rather miffed at knowing that their most lucrative property is gaining bad word of mouth thanks to the ineptitude of BHVR constantly rushing out these chapters without proper testing. Can you imagine the sheer vitriol that other game companies like Activision would have to put up with if maps and content were this broken for COD?
-
@SilentPill said:
I just don’t see where you ever fit that perk into a serious build. Pretty much every killer needs an early game perk, 1-2 gen perks, and at least one chase perk. The only killers who can really break from that trend are powerful enough flashlights don’t bother them anyways.
Personally I don't like to play with serious builds. Running the same old perks gets tiring after awhile, and I like to have fun so I'll mix it up from time to time. To each their own, but imo no one should be taking this game seriously.
-

I have been successfully flashbanged twice since Resident Evil came out. They are really easy to avoid blast mine is just more of a nuisance doesn't really do anything on our way I can see that being a problem is if I was on my last few seconds of pop and just made it to a Jen but I haven't had that scenario yet. Could have sworn this side lightborn was not supposed to counter it as flash bangs and blast minds are lightburn but maybe I'm mixing something up or maybe that's something with the wraith I don't remember.
Yeah anything that causes blindness your immune to. And since a lot of survivors are now bringing into their games mines and flash bangs, being protected against that while also knowing their location is quite a nice advantage to have!
