This why I always bring T-Virus Sample (more mutation from hitting zombies, green add-on) and Marvin's Blood (more mutation from hitting Survivors, yellow add-on). That's pretty much what I've been doing. Bringing the add-ons that increase infection rate is the only thing that makes tier 3 viable, otherwise I don't bother. But as it is, it takes too long to get the tier 3 without add-ons. I definitely foresee a rework in the future, hopefully one that removes the speed boost upon infection.

He definitely needs a minor buff. He's the only killer that can literally run out of power, and considering that other one hit Killers like Leatherface, Hillbilly, and Ghostface don't have that problem, neither should Myers.

yea i could see that from a new players perspective 100% i went thru the same thing with apex, getting launched in a game i know nothing about going against people that have played since launch, but that didnt stop me cause i still had fun and it pushed me to get better. I have 1.5k hours on dbd so im not new by any means but im also not a god tier player. i think when people realize they are going against people way better than them they can take that time to learn how people are looping and when to swing/not swing or practice your power, learn the maps. online games arent meant to babysit you
The lack of a practice mode is what inherently hurt dead by daylight. Yes we could get custom matches going so long as we had a group of friends that also played this game, but otherwise we're stuck practicing mechanics in live matches, and practicing in sweaty online matches does not make for a good learning tool.
-
Yeah I do find him to be rather underwhelming. In the Resident Evil game he can utilize rocket launchers and flamethrowers, and yet in dead by daylight he has to use a tentacle? It's not bad, but it's not great either. Not only that, but the zombies are brain dead and almost always get hung up on the terrain, which is downright frustrating, but worse it's ridiculous that survivors get a speed boost from infection which causes NO DAMAGE! At the very least that latter part needs to be changed.
-
While it's true that not caring can save you from a world of hurt with this game, BHVR's abysmal matchmaking doesn't do them any favors either. It's easy to say that you don't care how a match plays out, but when the matchmaking pits you against people far more experienced than yourself time and time again, it gets old real fast.

Its amazing how people love to complain about RPD map... I mean i heared everything like the map huge, the map is garbage, the map is this and that etc etc.. Those people are such a crying babys honestly. People the map is great, i played RE 2 and 3 Remake so the map is not confused to me or for those who is actually are a fan of Resident Evil games/movies. If you guys don t like the map just don t play it got dammit... People who are not fan or even if you didn t played RE Remakes or the old ones, you guys don t even have the Audacity to complain about the map because you guys didn t played or atleast didn t tryed to explore the map a little bit.. Sorry if i was a little rude but this kind of people just pissed me of...
You do realize of course that not all maps are created equal? Copying and pasting the map from RE:2 doesn't mean that it transitions well to a multiplayer game.
The RE:2 map was big intentionally so that you had plenty of room to run away from Mr. X, but as a 4v1 game it fails since it's long corridors and hallways make for a frustrating experience getting from one end of the map to the other in quick succession, especially if your playing a slow moving killer.

High risk, very high reward.
No need to change
What about that scenario could yield a very high reward? Yes hexes are a high risk, but that high risk gets completely thrown out the window if a survivor spawns right next to it.
-
There are far more people playing survivor and not enough people playing killer. Survivor yields a much more relaxing playstyle, whereas playing killer can be a sweat fest. Resident Evil brought in a lot of new players, and since there's no proper tools with which to let gamers practice, those that play killer are getting absolutely destroyed.
Hopefully the offline bot matches that are coming with the mid chapter update helps to solve this problem, because practicing against far more skilled survivors does not make for a good learning tool.
-
I haven't gotten it at all. And I agree that it's crazy to think that this entire event will have gone by without the map being enabled for full access.

YES. And granny Laurie pls.
Hopefully, they will release new skins, for Laurie and Michael, when the new movie comes out later this year
It certainly would coincide well with the Halloween event and the new movie!

A new Michael Myers skin. Preferably from the new movie.

It's probably a perk that I'm gonna run more even if I don't see flashlights cause of blast mine and flashbang. I refuse to get blind lol and again the aura information is wonderful.
It really is! Being able to see the aura of the person that stunned you is highly effective!

One of the countless reasons why I absolutely despise this killer.
Right?! What about this screams horror? 🤨
-
Yeah I'd have to agree. This stopped being a horror game a long time ago. 😕
-
Thanks to Leon and Jill's new perks, running lightborn has made this perk so much more useful. I had a game where a Jill activated a blast mine on a generator that I kicked. Thanks to the perk, the aura of where she was hiding lasted longer than the stun so I made a beeline straight for her! It's definitely a fun, and much more useful perk to use now!
-
The attention to detail is amazing, but it makes for a very poor multiplayer map. The reason the Resident Evil 2 map is so big is because it gave you plenty of room to run away from Mr X. But in a 4v1 game it just doesn't work.
-
Yeah I can't wait for the bot matches either. My second match ever playing Nemesis I encountered so much toxicity from survivors: flashlight clicking, teabagging, etc. They could clearly tell that I was new at playing this killer, but they didn't care. At least with the bot matches I'll be able to practice the mechanics thoroughly before I feel comfortable hopping online. Practicing in high ranks does not make for a good learning tool.
-
Honestly, because of the lousy matchmaking and how hard it is to play a killer you've never played before, sweaty matches against highly skilled survivors/killers will at best get me to devote 10 hours a week. Between work and parenting I don't have a lot of free time, and dedicating what free time I do have to something that isn't forgiving to people who are new or just looking to practice isn't something that I care to deal with.

It's weird...
It's kind of a much thinner PH punishment of the damned that doesn't go through walls (I seem to recall people saying it was coded this way). And it apparently needs a non-crouched survivor fully visible in order for it to connect. Crouching behind virtually any LOS blocker seems to stop it 99% of the time. Doesn't appear to be any verticality to it either
Also... for whatever reason, if you strafe side to side while using the tentacle, it appears to make the hitbox wider
Yeah I've noticed that myself. It's weird. But I think one thing we can all agree on, is that it shouldn't take three hits from the tentacle to down a survivor. The fact that the first hit grants them a speed boost like they were injured works too much in the survivor's favor.
-
Since I like to play stealthily, I've never equipped the crowns. But at the end of the day every survivor is the same, so I only managed to get crowns for the three survivors that I go back and forth on: Feng, David, and Claudette. I obtained a few for killers, but honestly I just don't care. BHVR said that the anniversary and the Halloween events are the only events that they'll be focusing on. They said they want these events to feel special, and the fact that all they've done is give us a slightly different crown is a massive slap in the face. This event should feel special, there should be modes that you otherwise can't play in dead by daylight, but apparently crowns (that you can only use for a fraction of the total characters) and cakes is what they consider "special".
-
That's matchmaking for you. But I find it interesting how during the chapter reveal stream that BHVR did, they asked for the veterans of this game to be welcoming of the new players coming in because of Resident Evil since there was nothing in the game to properly let new players practice. But with no way to practice and DBD already having poor matchmaking, it really shouldn't be up to the community to do their job for them. No one wants to get demolished over and over again, but that's the reality you face when you're a new player to dead by daylight, or just someone who's wanting to practice a new killer. It's the reason why no one sticks around, and why the number of players aren't steadily increasing.
-
The attention to detail is amazing, but the Resident Evil 2 remake map design makes for a very poor multiplayer map. I've played quite a few matches during the event, and it's astounding to think that I still haven't played on it yet. What's even worse is knowing the Resident Evil chapter has been out for a month, and the map still can't be played on through a regular basis.
-
One thing to keep in mind is that matchmaking is truly atrocious in this game. I can't imagine how much of a nightmare it must be for all the new players coming in to dead by daylight thanks to Resident Evil, and getting absolutely destroyed trying to practice not just survivor, but killer.

I have played dbd for a few months and since day one my matches were awful and still bad.
I was going to play dbd but im not feeling it right now. Too many rude players.
What's interesting about the dbd community, is that for every toxic member out there, there's just as many good sports as well. Admittedly I have had far better matches than I have had toxic matches, but it's those toxic matches that stick with you the most. That last match with Nemesis left such a bad taste in my mouth that I don't want to play him in an online match anymore.
Matchmaking is screwed up enough as it is, and even if I was playing alongside good people, it's still going to wind up being a sweaty match, and that's something I don't need when I'm just looking to learn the basics.
-
I feel your pain. I had a match as Wraith the other day, and we brought in four cakes. I had every intention of playing the game like normal, but one survivor disconnected right at the beginning of the match, and another survivor disconnected right before their death hook. Little did they know though, that I had no intention of killing them. Thankfully the other two survivors were good sports and we all farmed together so we could get the maximum amount of blood points.
But I agree, who the hell disconnects when there's four or five cakes on the line?
-
While I haven't played for hours and hours on end since the event started, I've still played my fair share of matches. But I still have yet to get the RPD map. I don't have enough friends that play DBD to fire it up in a custom game, and I know BHVR intentionally turned down the percentage odds of getting the map because it is still bugged. It's just crazy to think that the Resident Evil chapter has been out for a full month now, and you still can't play the map on a regular basis. Is it any wonder they extended the event?

Learning new killers at high ranks is nearly impossible. That's why I don't buy new killers anymore.
Yeah at the rank that I'm at, it ensures that every match is going to be a try hard sweaty match, and doing that for a killer that I've never played before, doesn't exactly leave me with a strong desire to want to try. Again this is why I'm looking forward to the offline bot matches. Once I get the mechanics down with that mode, then I'll feel better about going online.

I'm currently trying to get the hang of Blight at red ranks, I feel your pain brother.
Oh Christ, I bet you do! LOL
I know it goes with the territory that in order to get better at something it's going to take practice, but when there's no good learning tool to be had in a 4v1 game, it leaves you looking elsewhere for better entertainment. I don't have a lot of friends that play this game so I can't get a custom game going to practice, which is why I'm looking forward to the offline bot matches. The only way to get better is to play against real people obviously, but until I'm comfortable doing that, I want to practice the mechanics of each killer.
-
Yeah I'm pretty much done trying out new killers in live matches. Offline bot matches are coming with the mid chapter update, and I'll be using that to practice mechanics until I'm comfortable going online.
-
Most rifts I don't bother with since they're inundated with so many charms. If that floats your boat, great, but in my opinion my $10 could be best spent elsewhere than on a bunch of useless charms.

I think those people put their own personal experience of a match over the value you can get from the said match. It doesn't matter if there's an opportunity to get up to 200k bp with those cakes. If those survivors get a bad spawn, get downed first, see a certain killer, etc they pull the plug and waste everyone's time and bloodpoints.
I've been seen a few killers here and there farm and that's perfectly fine by me. It gets me the bloodpoints AND the archive challenges out of the way so it's a win win for me.
Yeah normally I don't like to farm, but with something like cakes on the line I have no problem. But what sucks is that I have a challenge where I have to kill six survivors by any means, and two survivors disconnecting definitely should have counted towards that, but it didn't! 🤬
-
@skyguys said:
No dc penalty = results like this, it seems.
I guess so. I planned on playing the match like it was a normal match because lately when I indicate that I want to farm, survivors haven't been wanting to, so my cake goes to waste. But if you're throwing up a cake, then clearly you want the blood points, so why disconnect?
-
Yeah he definitely needs a rework. I know tombstone piece requires a ridiculous amount of stalking, but regardless long matches with Myers is not fun. Once you've completely stalked a survivor, it forces you to seek out other survivors. Now this theory sounds good on paper, but with so many perks focused on avoiding the killer, finding survivors is sometimes easier said than done.
Myers is the only killer that can literally run out of power, and it shouldn't be this way. Other one hit Killers like Leatherface, Hillbilly, and Ghostface don't have this issue, and neither should Myers.

I would say that Twins are even more punishing
To each their own, but I disagree. Once Victor is kicked, not only do you immediately switch back to Charlotte, but it's only a matter of seconds before you have him back.
-
I know you just want to paint some positivity here, and that's certainly admirable, but this highlights just how incredibly grindy this game is. Which also highlights just how reluctant the devs are to fix it. Instead of doing anything tangible with the grind, they just throw blood points at us, which doesn't resolve anything.

Room for another Blight main here?
IMO he's one of the strongest killers in the game, at the top of the A tier on my list. However he does suffer from a few things, such as being bad on certain maps (Rotten Fields, Lery's, Hawkins), however unlike Billy he can handle them alright.
He also suffers from being bad in certain loops. In his defense, he's extremely powerful in shack and jungle gyms.
His power is very punishing if you miss, making him very similar to Nurse. However if you fail, from what it seems it makes you better at Blight. Trial and error is the way to go. Finally, he has insane mobility and solid chase power which is his main strength.
I don't think he's better than Nurse or Spirit, but he's pretty damn good.
I don't think anything's more punishing than Legion. LOL Miss an attack and not only do you you cancel out your power, but you incur a stun that's equivalent to DS, AND it takes forever to build your power back up. In many ways Blight is the better Legion.
-
In the developer update they revealed that offline bot matches are coming with the mid chapter update.
-
I like to play stealthily so I've never really equipped them, but the fact that the crowns can only be used on a fraction of the total amount of characters in the game makes it a pointless endeavor to try and get.
-
Nemesis suffers in chases in that it takes three hits to down a survivor with his power. The fact that survivors get a speed boost from infection - something that causes no damage - is not only ridiculous, but smart teams of swf purposely take advantage of it. That right there is a big reason to not play Nemesis.
-

i too am new at killer i mostly play survivor mode but through my experiences both play is difficult as a survivor to configure a way to escape the killer and then not given any opportunity to have fun and enjoy the game they go all out on a strike and be hardcore a**hles.
in my sessions upon trying killer mode i have had a lot of players giving me the loopy loo run around chase that really gets my anxiety way up in there and i have the urge to throw the game controllers at my television if i am on console or my laptop if i am on steam and i just don't understand why do players give us newbies such a hardtime and make us feel horrible in playing the game.
I want to enjoy and have fun with dead by daylight but for the last few months since i started DBD my gameplay was always bad matches i'm always losing progress going back and forth and nothing earned.
Yeah a lot of people don't realize just how much a sweat fest playing killer is. Playing as survivor is much more relaxing, even if you are solo. BHVR keeps talking about a new MMR, but they've been talking about that for months and months, so who knows if that will ever see the light of day.

That is happy news ^^ I didn't realize we were getting bot matches.
It will be nice to play with bots and practice my weaker killers (Nemmy, Huntress, Slinger, Trickster and Michael). I always prefer playing with real people but with matches like that it just makes me feel bad for even trying a new killer ;_;
Yeah they announced this in the developer update. Along with updated tutorials, there will also be offline bot matches.
I also agree that the only way you're going to get better at the game is to play against real people, but if you're just starting out or learning the mechanics of a new killer, obviously I want to know that I can take my time doing so knowing that I'm not going up against a team of highly skilled survivors that are going to have every generator done in less than 5 minutes.
-
This has been a common problem with dead by daylight. Not only is matchmaking a problem in and of itself, but as a new player or just someone learning the ins and outs of a new killer, trying to practice in online sweaty matches does not make for a good learning tool. Which is why I'm ecstatic that they are finally adding in offline bot matches with the mid-chapter update. You'll be able to practice everything that you can in a normal online match.
A lot of people, including myself, don't have access to a plethora of friends that play this game so that we can get a custom game going to help us practice. There are killers I've never touched that I would love to try, but at the rank that I'm at, I'm going to get nothing but try hard sweaty matches, which is why I cannot wait for the offline bot matches.
-
Usually I don't farm with survivors, but I do during these events involving cakes. But lately I've been hopping into matches where survivors don't want to farm, and what's ironic is that when they realize that they're about to die and not get their crown, then all of a sudden they have a change of heart. And I'm like, no, you wanted a normal match so that's what you'll get. Maybe next time when you see a killer wanting to farm, you'll take them up on the offer. LOL
-
@BlueFang said:
I still am disappointed that the Blights have never been able to capture the game changing wackiness of the original Hallowed Blight event. I do recognize that it could be a MASSIVE headache for survivors, but I really wish BHVR would find a way to recapture the feel and difference of that event by fixing some its issues and making it interactive but not to a detriment like it could be when it first came out
Exactly. These timed events should bring about wackiness that isn't otherwise seen in the game. It should bring about game modes that truly make these events feel so special. Simply giving us blood point offerings and a crown that can only be used by original characters is such a damn letdown.

A week in, and not only is the optimization still crap, but the new map still isn't fully active. Woo hoo. Great event.
-
It's not a bad perk as it does protect whatever other hex you bring into the game, but if you go up against a team that is dedicated to cleansing totems, be prepared to lose it quick, especially if they're running totem finding perks.
-
I can't knock it as I haven't tried it yet, but while I can see just how powerful it can be for the early game, dedicating an entire perk for all of nine seconds when a match could very well last between 10 to 20 minutes, seems like such a waste. I'd much rather have that as an iridescent add-on more so than an actual perk.
-
Yeah as many others have already stated, survivors get access to far less cakes then Killers thanks to all the event items they have to deal with. It would be nice to know if at least one node in every blood web was dedicated to cakes.

It was, and it wasn't at the same time. Usually the Dream Transition would result on a free hit, as long as you knew what you were doing. Even if you didn't move in an unpredictable manner, not every single survivor would correctly guess when exactly the Transition would lapse, as add-ons changed its base 7 seconds.
The problem was that you couldn't interrupt them during the Transition, which means that you were helpless to stop a gen from getting done or a survivor from getting rescued. But then again, the modern-day Incapacitated status effect could easily fix that.
Interesting. Unfortunately it sounds like it would be a lot of work to bring back Old Freddy while also incorporating current play mechanics, like the incapacitated status effect that you mentioned. Regardless, it was pretty damn cool watching Freddy pull survivors into the dream world! I also liked how the Old Doctor was able to hold on to his static blast instead of automatically firing it every single time. But alas, I highly doubt anything will ever be reverted.
