Played the new tutorials now (didn't do before as I had already finished them).

They are nice, but I maintain the position that it does need something for perks (which would probably be a whole thing in and on itself) and different killers (especially training modes for killers)

And that's precisely what the developer update made this out to be. They said offline bot matches were coming with the mid chapter update. The bot match with Trapper and Dwight was already there with the chapter 20 release, so this doesn't make any sense.

  • @Threa said:

Would love the ability to change the killer from Trapper in the bot matches.

Yeah and that was there with the chapter update, but this mid chapter update was supposed to bring with it offline bot matches. All this is, is what was already there, and not what was discussed in the developer update.

  • @ChantyBoi said:

After playing the update. Not only have bot matches not been updated in any way shape or form, but they did not fix the glitch that causes all cosmetics and perks to be unequipped from trapper when entering the match

    Screenshot_20210727-124532.jpg

Then what in the world is @Peanits talking about then? This couldn't be anymore confusing. The bot match with Dwight and Trapper was already there with the chapter 20 update, so what in the world was the developer update talking about?

  • @Peanits said:

With the chapter 20 release, bot matches were added after the tutorials so you can try out what you've learned in a more match-like setting.

With this mid-chapter, the tutorials themselves have been completely remade (e.g. the thing that teaches you what generators, hooks, etc. are).

Where are the bot matches though? All I've heard/seen are new expanded tutorials for survivor and Killer.

  • @Aneurysm said:

    @MandyTalk any news on this?

@MandyTalk can you shed any light on this? The way they spoke about this in the developer update didn't make it appear is if this was nothing more than the new tutorials.

  • @Facture said:

I don't know, when I read the developer update it didn't sound like they were doing any additions to what was already in the game.

Here is the quote "Now, a tutorial is great and all, but it doesn’t quite compare to hands on experience. Before you jump into an online match, you can now practice in offline bot matches. This will let you try out everything you’ve learned in a real-world scenario without the stress of other people watching. Bot matches are already available on the live version of the game (click the Getting Started button on the main menu to check them out). "

They may have mentioned updates to the bot matches in the anniversary event, but I'm old so my memory isn't all that great.

Yeah they mentioned that they were expanding the tutorial, but the bot matches were separate from that. If they didn't put in bot matches, then this was highly misleading!

  • This is precisely why I'm looking forward to the offline bot matches. Matchmaking has always been screwed up in this game, but the higher in rank you get the sweatier the matches become. For me personally I hate using meta builds because I too like to experiment with fun and interesting combos, but the higher in rank I get the less likely I'm incentivized to do just that.

I don't have thousands upon thousands of hours to invest into this game, and as such I'm a casual player at best, so the last thing I need when I get home from work is the feeling of getting stomped repeatedly. Which is why unless I'm playing with friends or I desperately need blood points, bot matches will suffice just fine until the MMR is turned on for good.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

I was squirming all over the hatch and I couldn't get anything but the "recover" prompt to appear. Then the killer closed it.

We definitely need more key binding options. I have it so that the button to heal isn't the same as the button to throw down a pallet. It can mess me up sometimes, though, because having the button to throw down a pallet be "square" means that the button to vault a window is "square." But vaulting is only "square" when I play survivor; it's still R1 when I play killer, because that's the better button to use for vaulting. Ugh, I hate that. We should be able to be a lot more specific about our key bindings.

This same thing happened to me too! I had a friendly Spirit who carried me to the hatch, and it took a good 5 seconds of crawling all over it to get the prompt to enter it instead of recover. Just another wonderful frustration that DBD has to offer.😕

  • Honestly I'm just looking forward to the offline bot matches. The matchmaking is so screwed up, and the bugs and poor performance is so damn exhausting that I could see myself playing nothing but bot matches from here on out.

only if a swf is revealed ... otherwise absolutely not!

Oh absolutely! Only if a SWF is detected should the Killer get a bit of a boost.

  • I know it's always fun to speculate, but the last thing I'm looking forward to is a new chapter. BHVR is still working on fixing all of the bugs and poor performance from the Resident Evil chapter, and sadly it made the event quite unplayable for a number of console players.

  • I get why a match like that would trigger you, but as others have already stated, SWF is not toxic it's just an unfair advantage for survivors. Not to mention DBD isn't exactly known for its stellar matchmaking.

Dead by Daylight was not programed from the ground up to have voice chat, and if nobody was able to talk to one another then I feel this game would be far more fair. That being said though, it defeats the purpose of being on a team if you can't talk to one another. But since voice chat can literally serve as multiple perks in one, I feel like certain killer perks should get a bit of a buff if a SWF is detected, if not the Killers themselves. Nothing too drastic mind you, just maybe shorter recovery speeds for power, etc.

  • I play this game because there's nothing else like it, which is unfortunate. When this game fires on all cylinders it's an absolute blast to play, but BHVR rarely ever listens to their community, which is frustrating, and the fact that they're content with releasing broken chapters time and time again has soiled the fun factor for me.

  • @NVerde said:

I have had the map literally once and one survivor disconnected immediately, which prompted the two others to disconnect, and I thought to myself, oh well maybe the killer (Nemesis - so on-brand) will be chilled and we can just explore the map but no he went for me and downed me immediately, so I d/c'ed too. What a prick.

Yeah if the entire team disconnected, the least he could have done was farm with you for at least a little bit.

i wish it would end, i just want a ps5 for myself a new graphics card..lol

I want Raccoon Map already, like be able to use my offerings

Yeah I don't understand why they haven't removed the offerings from the blood web considering that they're still deactivated. Those are blood points I'll never get back. 😕

  • STBFL is my favorite chase perk. You just have to ignore the obsession as much as possible to get the most out of it. At least you can take comfort in knowing that it doesn't work like dying light and give a competitive edge to the obsession.

  • It was the Spider-Man Morales bundle that came with the game and one extra controller. So it was a little bit more, but yeah the retail price of the console was still $500.

I was willing to hold out as long as it took because there's no way that I'm going to reward scalpers for all the shady s*** that they're doing.

That's so good to hear, probably the best thing in this patch for me

Now I can learn hard killers with controller without giving ez wins to survivors

Honestly I feel the same! Practicing mechanics that you're not used to in a live setting against far more experienced players does not make for a good learning tool. Nothing worse than engaging in sweaty match after sweaty match just so you can practice a new killer.

  • Retail price. I lucked out and just so happened to secure one from Nebraska Furniture Mart. Ironically enough it was being advertised on Facebook, and I checked my local store and sure enough they had it in stock. Just a case of being in the right place at the right time.

If this is console then they are supposed to have a fix for it on Tuesday with the update i believe

Yeah I play on PS5, but other members in the match were playing on different platforms as well. Regardless this was on BHVR's end.

Can you play with all killers or are you still forced to play no addon Trapper on Mcmillan?

The offline bot matches will play separate from the tutorial. The developer update stated that tutorials can't assist with real world experience so the bot matches will reflect everything you can do in a live setting. So essentially anything you can do in a custom match you should be able to do in the offline bot matches.

  • I'm playing on PS5, and I just encountered the map for the first time today...and it crashed. It sucks.

  • @Shirokinukatsukami said:

More like the midwife forgot to deliver the baby.

A game like this absolutely should not have modding and BHVR is actually correct in patching out all means of modding the game.

Yeah I agree. I've definitely seen some really fun and entertaining mods for DBD out there (my personal favorite was turning the generators into cocktail machines 😄), but they shouldn't exist in an online competitive game.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

Huh, whenever the map crashes for me I get a blue screen or the game completely freezes. The player level update error is usually just something that happens at the end of a regular match because I dunno reasons.

My matches on this map haven't been great as either survivor or killer. I've tried learning the map by messing around in Custom Matches, but my sense of direction is dog[BAD WORD], I'd get lost in my own house if it had more than 5 rooms.

At first it appeared that the Killer quit, but that didn't prove to be the case at all. The killer had to have been pissed because he was doing fairly well too. He had one kill under his belt, and we were still at four gens. I guess the fact that the entire game didn't crash can be considered an "improvement".

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/268287/finally-get-the-raccoon-city-map-and-the-game-crashes

They never made any false claims that the map was fixed though. They’ve repeatedly warned that crashes on RCPD are still expected. They only reactivated the map in cautious optimism that the volume of crashes should have been reduced.

I understand your disappointment. But to lash out at something the devs already made crystal clear is a little bit on the nose.

Doesn't mean that the criticism still isn't warranted. I used to think that nothing could be worse than The binding of Kin chapter, but I was proven wrong. It's clear that BHVR either doesn't really test these chapters, or they release it anyway knowing full well just how poorly everything was implemented.

You had to have known you were playing against Ghostface since you were already hooked. Which means you should know that not hearing a terror radius doesn't imply you are safe against a Ghostface.

Very true, and I'm not disputing that fact, but I wasn't running spine chill or any other detection perk to help aid with a stealth killer, so all I had to go off of was line of sight and a terror radius. Since I couldn't see him and since I heard no terror radius, I figured I was in the clear, but I obviously wasn't.

  • @Apollos said:

I think the rework is perfectly fair as a pure anti-tunneling perk. The only thing I dislike is that it takes up a slot I could use for something truly fun and interesting instead of just being a base protection against forcing me out of the game prematurely.

Yeah I wholeheartedly agree with this. Because of the nerf that DS got, a lot of killers know that there's a good chance it won't be ran, so I've encountered more than my fair share of tunneling. Because of this I still find myself equipping it on the off chance that it does happen, even though I would much rather prefer to be using something else.

It's great if you're being tunneled, but if not its a waste of a perk slot.

How do you know that they were tracking you the whole time?

As soon as I was unhooked, I ran to the other side of the map. Once there I didn't hear a terror radius so I figured I was safe to heal, but then Ghostface appeared out of nowhere around the corner and downed me. The killer just made sure that he got out of sight from the other survivors, activated his power, and just followed what was left of my scratch marks and blood trail.

  • @Momentosis said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2382599#Comment_2382599

Were they tracking you the whole time or did they just run into you again?

Come to find out they were tracking me the whole time. It was a Ghostface so I never heard the terror radius so I thought it was in the clear to heal, but lo and behold I wasn't. And since healing yourself doesn't do anything to benefit the team and isn't considered an objective, I think DS should at least guarantee you that.

  • @Power_Guy said:

If you have time to heal ANYONE, yourself included, do totems, do gens, or unhook someone; you're not being tunneled.

Why should you have immunity to being picked up if you decide to heal yourself?

Because you're not doing anything that benefits the team, only yourself. Again I just thought that maybe it could afford that much, but if it's still considered too powerful to let that pass then so be it.

  • @Northener1907 said:

If you have time to heal yourself, killer is not tunnelling you lol

I've had instances where I'll go clear across the other side of the map, start to heal myself, only to find out that the killer was tracking me the whole time and down me. And because I started the healing process, DS deactivated.

I don't know, I just thought that maybe it could allow survivors to do that much. But if it's still considered too powerful to let that pass then ok I guess.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

Sadly that's just how it is with killer, like sure both sides have bad perks but I sure do feel killer "needs" a gen defense for example. Iv got use to it though, I just try make it less bland by playing both roles and different killers. Hopefully the older perks get a buff soon

Yeah I don't like using ruin only because I find that the RNG usually results in either the survivors spawning close to the hex, or the totem spawning too close to a generator, which is why I prefer POP even though I hate having to abandon a chase to use it.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

Use 2 defense, 1 chase, 1 info for the majority of killers.

Although I tend to skip the chase perk and go 2 regression and 2 info because chases isn't the issue, its gen speed and knowledge of all survivor locations

Yeah my usual build for most Killers is BBQ, Corrupt, POP, and STBFL. But I hate having to rely on the same perks over and over just to be effective in a match. I would love to branch out, but that usually results in me getting punished. LOL

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

I ALWAYS prefer chase/tracking perks over regression perks.

Everything that helps me to get into chases fast or make them easier is what i like, which is why i absolutely love Corrupt Intervention + Lethal Persuer.

Also,STBFL is so damn good.I'm using it on Nemesis and the amount of altruistic plays i was able to completely shutdown is amazing

I want to get better with Nemesis because I figured that STBFL would be worth its weight in gold with him, but trying to be accurate with his tentacle on console is pretty difficult (at least for me). His ranged attack works very much like Pyramid Head, but it's far narrower. Plus I don't like how infection give survivors a speed boost when it does no damage.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Just spam regression perks because the devs have made it to where not only do you need them just to play the game normally, but they're also better than chase perks most of the time.

You're certainly not wrong about that. With survivor perks like prove thyself, and items like tool boxes and brand new parts that help increase the speed of repairs, regression perks are almost a necessity.

Admittedly I hate to have to always rely on them, but if I don't the matches go by too fast. I just wish that passive perks like Surge did more damage.

  • @Junylar said:

PH is SSS-tier in chases, so no need to pick more. His power makes loops nonexistent.

I do love anti-loop killers, and PH is definitely good at that. But in general, do you prefer chase or regression perks? I got to admit, walking away from a chase to kick a generator definitely feels wrong. I know that perks like Surge help with that, but the regression penalty is far less than POP.

  • Offline bot matches will be coming with the mid chapter update, and honestly I can't wait. What better way to blow off steam after a sweaty, toxic match than abusing some poor bots?😄

  • @Psycho_ said:

People actually want an mmr system? you think games are unfair now? Just wait till its a mash up of sweat fest its not going to get easier.

Imagine your a killer that runs the best addons and a bunch of slowdown perks and generally 4k.

Your going to get paired up with the same level of sweat on the other side. survivors that can loop well, dead hard for distance and deploy all the strats that aren't enjoyable.

I don't think mmr is the salvation you think it is...

It may not be the salvation we all think it is, but anything would be better than what we have right now.

Matchmaking is a common complaint across the board. It's so bad that I couldn't help but laugh when the developers asked in the anniversary reveal, for the veteran players to help welcome all the new players that would be coming into the game thanks to Resident Evil, since they would no doubt be paired against new players thanks to the lackluster matchmaking system.

It might not be so bad if players had a way to practice outside of live custom matches, but a lot of people don't have a big list of people with which to do that, so they have to practice in live matches. And practicing mechanics that you're not familiar with against far more experienced players does not make for a great learning tool.

  • My first match of the night last night involved green (me) and yellow rank survivors squaring off against a rank 2 killer. Needless to say it didn't end well for us. And sad to say just the opposite happens when I tackle killer. It usually involves my rank 16 killer squaring off against red rank survivors.

I agree that they need to stop beating around the bush and tell us if MMR is indeed coming back. It's been over half a year since they announced the rework of the ranking system, and there's still no set date for when it all goes live.

  • @GrimoireWeiss said:

It's the 27th of this month. The blood hunt starts on the 29th.

Oh wow! Seriously?! That is a pleasant surprise!

  • Not at all. Paying money for a handful of charms doesn't exactly float my boat.

  • It doesn't stand to reason that Myers is the only killer that can literally run out of power. I played a game recently where the last two survivors were completely out of stalk leaving Meyers as a standard M1 killer. Now granted this doesn't happen all the time, but the fact that it can happen at all is frustrating to say the least.

  • @Sadsnacks said:

Absolutely. I was so excited for the event and super disappointed at how ###### all of the killers turned out to be during it. I wont be participating in future events unless they change things up to encourage more sporting or fun behavior from both sides.

Like next event is what, Halloween? If its just a rinse, repeat ill probably just stay logged off for the whole thing, cakes or no cakes.

I got my grind mission done. I got all survivor teachables unlocked and most killers. The extra shards were nice too, helped me unlock the last remaining characters i needed.

I'll probably be taking a long break after the bloodhunt because im a little burned out and the grind will always be there anyway.

Honestly I feel the same way. They said that the anniversary and Halloween events we're going to be the only events worth focusing on, and yet the only thing that stood out for the 5th anniversary was a slightly different crown and the same old cake. Absolutely nothing about this event felt special, so you better believe that the Halloween event is just going to be more of the same.

I am happy that I don't feel the need to P3 the characters.

Same. It literally provides no incentive other than a slightly better chance of getting rare items in the blood web, and some bloody clothes. And considering just how many perks there now are, it's not worth it (to me) starting from scratch repeatedly.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Myers is the only licensed killer I want to spend money on just for the peekaboo build. I’m just holding off because I am pretty sure they’re going rework him and probably need his add ons, so I’d like we see what happens to him first.

I just hope they don’t destroy his peekaboo aspect, it’s the scariest thing we can face as survivors.

I definitely see a rework in the future, but it'll be interesting to see how extensive it is. Myers is the only killer that can literally run out of power, and considering other one hit Killers like Leatherface, hillbilly, and Ghostface don't have that problem, neither should Myers.

  • Last night I had three toxic survivor matches where the killer either tunneled or camped the hook. I think players are getting burnt out, and are just looking to secure whatever blood points they can before the event is over.

  • @Bwsted said:

T2 is were the real money is. Don't go out of your way to T3. Use m1 when necessary.

Yeah and that's what was crazy about the whole thing, the fact that m1 was considerably more effective than the tentacle! The tentacle hit detection is very spotty, so unless survivors were at a pallet or a window, I didn't bother.

1 … 16 17 18 19 20 … 46
