They can't have a permanent hindrance on survivors since the vaccine is limited. It should do more for the killer though. Just getting rid of the free health state would do wonders.
@T103 said:
Yes, it is rather pointless. Granted the coughing has given away survivors a few times for me.
The most problematic thing I find is that the survivors have to be infected for you to damage them with the whip, which I find a tad unfair. It gives them a free health state assuming you use the whip. (I find it’s easier to run STBFL on him) It’s not like his whip is forgiving either, it’s hitbox is quite thin so it’s easy to miss if the survivor isn’t in an animation lock.
I couldn't agree more with this. The free health state and the Sprint burst survivors get from simply being infected is a tad much.

@FentV1rus said:
If the number of vaccines was not limited (add 1 box per map, put a cooldown on the boxes), and the infection had a gradual Hindered debuff that capped at 20% the longer the survivor stayed infected, it would be something meaningful that needed to be handled, similar to the Plague's Broken status for infected.
But yes, as it stands, there is no downside to staying infected. Ultimately, you either choose to stay infected, or cleanse and just get re-infected shortly after.
I don't think that's a bad idea. Regardless there needs to be more that happens if you're infected because relying on the zombies to be effective is a crapshoot at best.
-
@IlliterateGenocide said:
you are missing something, there is only 4-3 cures on the map, once there out they never come back, so ur saying if there infected and use them up then they have to stay injured the rest of the game.
That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that I think it needs to be reworked. Infection doesn't injure, it only allows you to be hit by the tentacle. Over time it would make sense for you to eventually be injured, but maybe don't make the cure available in a limited amount. I don't know, but I think something needs to be done because being infected doesn't do anything whatsoever.

Wait.....does this mean we are closer to custom bot matches?
The developer update said that we were supposed to get offline bot matches with the mid chapter, but it never happened and behavior hasn't said why. I was really looking forward to practicing with Killers outside of sweaty online matches.
-
Sadly they've been talking about the MMR for years with only the occasional test. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if there's a 2022 test and still nothing final.
-
Honestly probably not because behavior won't be updating anything strangers things related in the future, so any skins you purchase most likely won't be patched in any way until the license comes back to the game, if ever.

Skip to 2:14 for where Paulie starts properly discussing it.
What's interesting here though is that they don't mention how long the licensing deal was extended for. What's sad is that even incorporating new skins doesn't guarantee that the license will be around for long. Case in point, stranger things. They just Incorporated a legendary skin only a few months ago and yet BHVR is losing everything in November.
Makes you wonder what will become of the game when BHVR no longer wants to continue renewing licenses. Dead by Daylight is going to be a shadow of its former self when that day comes.

You'd think it'd make more sense to come to a deal where they keep the stranger things chapter since it's publicity for the series.
Not to mention they just Incorporated legendary skins just a few months ago! They also did a public gaming stream with the cast not that long ago either, so this all coming to an abrupt end is very odd indeed.
-
@Pennywise said:
If it is expensive to keep renewing all the licensed content, eventually another one will go. The fact these deals need renewing mean one side can back out, so buy licensed content on the assumption that it won't be in the game forever.
You would think that BHVR would incorporate a contract that would secure them the rights to the character/s for the foreseeable future instead of having to constantly renew the license. If that's the case, then yeah any chapter could end up leaving DBD in the foreseeable future.
-
@ChurchofPig said:
The only reason a license would meet the same fate is if the license holder doesn't want to renew the license or they just can't ever come to an agreement. I don't think we should be looking at this as a BHVR issue and more a license holder issue (in this case it's Netflix). I wouldn't worry too much about Halloween and other licenses. Also like others have said, they just renewed Halloween, so it's the safest.
Also this issue has always been something to fear. I think the reason we're all thinking about it is because it just happened. However, every time a license is up for renewal this is/should be a concern.
I think it was definitely a Netflix issue, however I don't see the series lasting much longer beyond season 4. They've pretty much told the story they want to tell, so I could definitely see the price for the license dropping in the near future.
-
@Pukenplag said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/273574/i-wont-lie-im-worried
The Halloween license is the safest atm, they literally renewed it 2-3 months ago. If the license holds up as long as before, then we will have Halloween for another 4 years.
Hopefully so, because considering how popular Halloween has become again it would make sense from a business standpoint for them to increase the price of the license.
To be honest I think it was Halloween that saved DBD. It brought in a lot of new players to the game, and it would definitely be sad if we lost that chapter.
-
Hellraiser hasn't seen a new movie in years, so most likely the rights to the character is probably dirt cheap which is why we're getting that before Candyman.
-
As goofy as the Trickster looks, I think an all neon map would look phenomenal.

Survivor is always the least concern with SBMM. Killers are always pitched against high-ranking Survivors who ######### on them (especially if they're new) or they're matched with new Survivors who don't even know how to complete a gen.
^This. There's a reason why games like this are referred to as 4v1. Competitive teams have proven just how powerful survivors can be when a team works well together. Not to mention survivors have the added benefit of working together in a SWF, thus giving them constant information on where the Killer is at, and what the Killer is doing at all times. That's a "skill" that no Killer can compete with, which is why you hear so many players asking for a buff in some capacity if the game detects you going up against a SWF.
-
BHVR could show an official picture of Pinhead, and all the FNAF fans will still be like, "... here's why it can still be Springtrap". 😄

@MojoTheFabulous said:
I feel like you could replace Brutal Strength with Spirit Fury, to combo with Enduring. As BS becomes useless once you've hit Tier 2. That being said, I think I'm gonna try that out for myself.
I equipped BS only because sometimes it's easier said than done getting Nemesis all the way to level 3. The hitbox for the tentacle strike is so thin that there have been matches where the only way to get him to level 2 was to take out his zombies.
-
When this game fires on all cylinders it's a blast to play, but matchmaking, the grind, and just practicing in and of itself definitely wears you thin. I still play the game, but even I admit that my play sessions are few and far between as it's hard to get steamrolled over and over. There are killers I haven't even tried because I don't want to sweat while I practice.
-
I honestly can't make a read on it. Last time MMR was introduced, It was supposed to factor in how often you play with certain killers, so it was to make it easier on you if you're playing a killer you don't normally play. I just played my second Ghostface match ever, and the SBMM must have predicted I was a pro because I only got one hook and the generators flew. And playing solo survivor is no different as it's still a pain in the ass.
I don't know what happened to the offline bot mode that was supposed to come with the mid chapter, but I would have preferred that to practice instead of in these online sweaty matches.
-
Ever since Wraith received a buff to his speed when cloaked, he has become one of the more popular Killers to use, especially for newer players. And using his All-Seeing blood add-on is crazy strong considering how fast he is. Michael Myers has something like that in scratched mirror, but he moves slower than survivors.
-
I've been playing solo survivor all night, and I've only managed to escape one match. I'm constantly being put on teams that prefer to do anything other than generators. To make matters worse, my teammates will purposefully unhook me right next to the Killer knowing full well they don't have borrowed time. So in other words, sole survivor is about on par with the way it's always been.😕
-
Solo survivor is usually pretty damn bad, but ever since this new sbmm has been turned on it has been f****** miserable. I haven't had one decent game yet. I'm either getting tunneling camping killers, or I'm being put on teams where everybody prefers to do anything other than generators.
-
@ProfessorDunwich said:
It's comedic that playing the Killer in this game is mostly nerve wracking, while playing Survivor is pretty chill overall.
It really is! LOL You're playing the very thing that survivors should be afraid of, but if you're going up against a well coordinated swf, then that's enough to make any killer sweat! Competitive teams have proven just how powerful survivors can be when they work together.

Oh boo hoo so u see a survivor clicking the L2 button, that is horrifying, definitely quit killer now, never go back, that's TOO ######### terrifying
You're a peach.

@Shaped said:
Like the others said being singled out and alone makes the killer harder for some people. You have to have tough skin.
Yeah I know "it is just a game bro", but interacting with people in the game can bring out your basic instincts and not being a part of the group can make things harder. Especially since the killer role is not really that much of a power role all the time. Sometimes a killer is a laughing stock which brings another feel bad thing. As a killer you are supposed to be intimidating but end up feeling powerless.
Now imagine new players who know nothing about the game playing killer for the first time thinking they are some hot ish xD. Then being bullied into oblivion by flashlight squad.
@MrCalac123 said:
It's normal to feel that way because the game is not balanced properly. A good coordinated SWF who do separate gens at the same time while you chase one of their teammates for anything longer than 30+ seconds results in multiple generators being lost.
You wanna know why some Killers tunnel? Because they have to, hooking every Survivor equally results in multiple escapes who would otherwise be dead. Do you know why some Killers use NOED? Because otherwise unless you are playing as someone like Leatherface, the Survivors can walk up and bodyblock for each other and happily save their teammate with Borrowed Time for free with the gates 99'd, body blocking for each other all the way to 4 escapes.
Consistent success with anything besides the absolute top tier Killers demands you play in an unfun way with tunneling, slugging, sometimes even camping. And this happens because Survive with Friends is not balanced and until the Devs do SOMETHING, you will always be at the mercy of a competent and coordinated team running all meta perks like Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike, Dead Hard, Iron Will, Unbreakable, etc.
The solution is to have the game detect Survive with Friends and give the Killer a desperately needed handicap. Faster movement speed, longer gens, SOMETHING. The difference between a game of solo's vs a game of people communicating isn't even funny, it's just crazy. Survive with Friends have access to most information perks between teammates for free in real life via communication, Kindred, Bond, Aftercare, etc.
Until something changes, unless you are a scary good Nurse or Spirit (maybe a few others like Blight), you will be at the mercy of these players and depend on them making mistakes, otherwise you have almost no real chance. It is not balanced, and until it is odds are you will occasionally encounter these teams that sadly remind you that the game is not balanced. That's all there is to say.
I appreciate that guys. I purposely hold off on playing killer too much because I don't like engaging in constant sweatfests. I'm definitely better than what I was, but I still feel like I get steamrolled way too easily.
-
I just want something original. There's far too many killers that function in the same way as others. So many these days focus on speed or reach. Hopefully it's something we haven't seen before.
-
@Sodahead said:
So... How is the killer games coming along now?
I've learned to just grin and bear it honestly. The toxicity will always be there, and the matchmaking is still screwed up. It's been over a year since I started this post and they're still chatting up the MMR. At this point I don't even know why they bother because there's more proof of this not happening then anything. I know there's a test going on right now, but it's a completely different system than what was implemented a year ago, so who the hell knows what to expect at this point?

@Bwsted said:
If it's Pinhead I can't imaigine him being anything than a flavor of a ranged power with his chains and having cosmetically different PH cages.
And that's exactly what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid of him being just another Pyramid Head. Minus the cages that's exactly what Nemesis already is. Pinhead literally has hell at his disposal, and as such I would expect something a bit more inventive. Here's hoping.🤞
-
Solo survivor was just as bad as it's ever been. Last night I played a match against a fairly weak Legion, and my team didn't do a single generator despite me looping the killer for a long time. I did all five gens and got 4 or 5 saves. At the end he killed two of my teammates, I got put on my first hook, and the third teammate sat in the exit gate waiting for me to die. FUN!

Blight is just a M1 Billy.
I always kind of saw him as a much improved Legion, but I can definitely see the resemblance to Billy.

@ChantyBoi said:
Ah yes those three killers were all in a row. Blight and Twins don't exist folks you heard it here first.
Almost everyone is a take on someone else, that's the whole point, but the Twins are a fresh design choice, I'll give BHVR that.

I don't know why everybody's so convinced we're getting a Hellraiser chapter.
There will be an official reveal within the next day or so as the ptb goes live next Tuesday, but practically every hint points to hellraiser. If it's not then the devs put forth a ridiculous amount of effort for nothing more than a ruse.
-
Yeah I got to admit that if Killers can't be changed, then items for survivors shouldn't be changed either. Something should lock you in on the survivor side to prevent last second changes for the upcoming match.

I noticed this too. Rank 14 has better perks than I do at rank 1. I have seen this often though.
I never claimed to be a new player. I've been playing this game off and on for a while, but I do so casually. To be honest most of the perks I have are attributed through the store as it's the only thing I spend shards on. But having teachables isn't a measure of skill, it just shows how much you've grinded. In that match SBMM would have been a welcome feature.

You can find the Bot mode under "getting started".
But as of now, you can only play as the Trapper.
There was supposed to be an offline bot mode with the mid chapter per the developer update. For some reason it never happened and BHVR hasn't said why.

Lol that's fair, some people are toxic. But I've met a lot of cool people just by chatting. And the banter is genuinely hilarious sometimes.
I do acknowledge that there are far more good natured players out there than bad ones, but all it takes is one bad seed to ruin it for everyone else.

God if that ain't the truth. If I'm playing killer then it's not so bad, but solo survivor? I might as well break out the War and Peace novel while I wait.

I turn it off when I feel like chatting with people. It's kinda lonely not being able to talk about the match.
Provided you play It against decent people. The first "F*** you, just #########" comment that I ever saw made me disable comments entirely and I have no desire to turn it back on.
-
Honestly I do. I'm a casual player and matchmaking in it's current state has me going up against far more skilled players than I like, which means most of my matches end up being sweaty AF! LOL I certainly don't want to spoil matchmaking for anyone else, but I do like to play this game from time to time, and the last thing I want to do is get steamrolled for hours on end.
-
I am so tired of this PC versus console argument. There are bad players on both sides. Personally I prefer to play with other console players. I'm on PS5, and right now I like to play with other PlayStation players simply because things like hacking, stretched resolution, mods, etc, is something that I don't have to concern myself with when playing against other console players.
Once you've come across a hacker, it pretty much spoils any and all fun that can be had in DBD. The fact that hacking runs as a rampant as it does too on PC is simply astounding.
-
That would be worse than stretched resolution. Killers have a first person perspective for a reason.

Playing devils advocate here but I’m not taking advantage of a newer killer player when matchmaking put us together. It’s not the responsibility of the other side to be nice during the game. Bot matches are a start for people to get experience playing but there needs to be a learning curve that, while easing players into the groove of how to play, it’s not spoon feeding a type of experience which is bland. A good example of this is just winning over and over and over again with no challenge. Your opponents need to have variety and inevitably there does need to be a bit of harshness on the learning curve.
Sure it's easy to say that "hey you got put into the match against me so if you don't like it that's on you", but getting put into a game against people you have no right to be paired with is again a fault that lies with BHVR.
While bots won't act in the same way that real players will, it can still give you a playground with which to practice with. Frequent disconnecting should be punished, but more should be done to help incorporate newer players into this game. Right now it's like throwing someone who's never swam before into the deep end and expecting them to swim. It's not a great learning tool.
-
The only killers that I've ever seen DC are usually newer players that are just trying to learn the game. Sad to say there are far too many other players out there that will take advantage of newer players and purposefully tea bag and be as toxic as possible while they fly through the generators. It's hard to have fun let alone learn the mechanics of a new killer when you're constantly having to sweat your ass off.
If dead by daylight had a proper single-player mode, then maybe newer players would be less resistant to DC. The developer update said we were supposed to get an offline bot mode with the mid chapter, but it never happened and BHVR hasn't said why.

I cannot wait for the Evil Dead game. When i saw it was delayed I was bummed I'd have to wait longer BUT I'm happy they're not rushing out an unfinished product.
Precisely. These days I feel games are announced far earlier than they should be which makes news about delays that much harder, although in the end delays only to better serve the overall quality of a game. And the way that Evil Dead can trump dead by daylight is by incorporating highly requested features that BHVR has been resistant to make with gamers for years.
-
Ever since the Resident Evil chapter introduced flash bangs and flash mines, lightborn has proven to be far more beneficial than it ever has before. I use it on my killers because the aura detection will last longer than the blind itself, and being able to make a beeline straight for the person that blinded you on the generator or the flashbang is quite effective!

I sincerely hope, for the good of this game, that Evil Dead is good.
The fact that the publisher is giving them the extra time they need to incorporate more features is a good sign, since it shows that they have faith in the game turning a profit as delays require more funding. No doubt the brand alone will drive sales, but the only thing that's going to continue to make them money for the long term is positive feedback and word of mouth. So here's hoping.🤞

It's true that other competition has come and gone, but that's because they never found the right balance. To be honest, neither has Dead by Daylight, but it gets just enough right to make the game fun to play and keep gamers coming back.
Hopefully Evil Dead can do just as well, if not better.

Lately a lot of my matches have involved getting hit with NOED, and quite frankly it was pissing me off because I was the only one on my team cleansing totems. So I took it upon myself to start running a build that includes both small game and counterforce. Doing this insures that I always know where a totem is at, plus I get increased speed while cleansing it.
I can't begin to tell you how many NOEDS and devour hopes have been destroyed because of this build. I hate not being able to use other perks, but I hate far worse that I'm the only one on my team doing bones. At least with this build I can guarantee that doesn't happen.
