I didn't know the mobile game gave these kind of tips. It's awesome.

The Mobile team has done a lot of awesome things with their version of the game. Personally the controls are too hard for me to comfortably work with, but the features that are there is something that desperately needs to be in the main game.

The fact that we don't even get a training mode with a paid version is what grinds my gears

Hell I'd be willing to accept custom game modes that you can set up yourself with bots. Practicing while competing is never ideal.

  • @Bwsted said:

Honestly, the marketing of this game is focused on a revolving door model. Bring in new customers with new content every chapter, they stick around for a little bit and then leave the game. Rinse'n'repeat.

Also, for new players there's such a high barrier to entry with how bad the grind is and how little educational resources are provided in-game (laughable tutorial, no practice mode), that it's no wonder its players' count is stuck between 30k and 40k.

The barrier for entry is ridiculously high for new players. The abysmal matchmaking is bad enough, but not being able to practice makes it all incredibly difficult.

  • As others have stated, there are plenty of videos out there that you can watch to help you to learn the ins and outs with the pig, but this is by far dead by daylight's biggest downfall. The fact that you have to seek outside help to learn how to properly play this game is its biggest disadvantage. This is precisely why this game needs a practice mode.

Wait mobile gets a training mode? What the hell are devs doing not implementing that on all platforms if a mobile can handle it console and pc will be a cake walk!

Yup, it's a different team but the same logic still applies that such a feature should be present in the main game too. The practice mode on mobile also allows you to keep a small percentage of the blood points and experience that you earn, which is nice.

Match making at it's finest hopefully when MMR comes out it'll fix this exact issue I personally aim to return when that comes out as when it was being tested I had such great games I was sad to see it go

Honestly, I would gladly forgo the MMR if it meant that we could have a practice mode with bots. How the mobile game has one but the main game hasn't been given one in five years doesn't make any sense to me. Not only would it be a great way to practice, but it would be a great way to blow off steam after being steamrolled against people you have no business being paired up with/against.

  • I had (past tense purposefully implied) a group of friends that I used to play this game with every day, but before too long all of the bugs, inconsistent matchmaking, and missing features took it's toll. Everyone had their own reasons for quitting the game, but for me I was tired of being paired with people far more/less skilled than me. Not to mention trying to practice with a new killer against people far more experienced than you does not a good time make!

I loaded up the game again here recently after a 3-month hiatus, and my rank 17 Wraith went against an all red ranked team, and my rank 15 survivor kept facing rank one killers. It looks as though my hiatus wasn't long enough. 😕

  • It's already been revealed that Sony charges companies a hefty sum for any games that have cross progression. Obviously BHVR wants to avoid paying through the nose for such a feature, and until that happens we'll most likely never see cross progression on all consoles.

  • A perfect DBD for me would include quality matchmaking, bug fixes, and a practice mode with bots. For a company with over 600 employees and only one game under its belt, there's no reason why these things can't happen.

Yeah let's allow Myers to get all his Infinite Tier 3 + Tombstone stalk on that one single survivor who doesn't look around whilst working on a gen so Myers can instantly kill all the other survivors without even hooking them once despite them avoiding his stalk successfully.

What could possibly be wrong with that? Sounds like fun! (for 1 single person that is)

The point I'm trying to make is that Myers' ability should probably be treated as phases with a longer cool down. Myers is the only killer that has limited uses when it comes to his power. Once survivors run out of stalk, then he no longer has any power. Imagine how frustrating it would be if the survivor/s left with a healthy amount of stalk just disconnected or killed themselves on first hook. I've had matches like that. Having games where you just straight up lose your power sucks.

  • They need to make tier 1 more viable. You are at a serious disadvantage until you get to tier 2, and simply making you have no terror radius at stage one isn't enough. I also think it's ridiculous that each survivor only has a limited amount of stalk. It's not that way with Ghostface, and I don't see why it should be with Myers.

It also takes the highest rank if your swf and depending if you were in que for a long time mm varies

Unfortunately I was on my own. And going up against this in solo play just ruins this game for me.

And that is why the Custom Game option exists. You can play as often as you want with other people of the same view. My problem with your attitude is that it comes with the expectation that everyone should be playing "nice" or at least how you define it. That is unreasonable. The expectation in the open matches, of a PvP game, is that everyone is going to give 100%. I have no doubt that you can, with very little effort, find plenty of people to play custom matches with you and have everyone on the same page for what you all feel is acceptable and not.

And I'm not being snide or trying to pick a fight with you. I'm merely pointing out that your expectations are unrealistic and unreasonable in the general matches. They are perfectly reasonable if you get together with friends and play a custom game.

Custom games is fine so long as you have people readily available to put one together, otherwise if you're on your own then you have no option but to play the game as is. If custom games allowed you to load in bots as a way to blow off steam or to simply practice, that would be awesome.

If I'm not mistaken they said they'd put the MMR tied to every killer and your performance with them, not to rank.

I'm waiting this like a breath of fresh air. It's not fair when you raise some ranks due a win streak playing spirit and then play a weak killer or simply a new killer you just bought with which you are not experienced and being paired with the same experienced red ranks SWF as if you are playing as the spirit (for example).

This is precisely why I don't understand why DBD doesn't have a practice mode. If the mobile team can create one for it's game, there's no reason that the devs can't create one for the main game. Getting your ass handed to you while testing out the mechanics of a killer you've never played with before isn't fun in any way shape or form.

imagine it actually is working in the background as they are claiming, learning etc but its predictions to the outcome of matches is constantly wrong which is why it cannot be used yet :P

The lack of communication and openness with their player base is what is truly frustrating about BHVR. For example, people were understandably upset about the lack of a color blind mode, yet we learned that BHVR had been working on such a mode for a while but didn't say anything. And the only reason they did was because the complaints became deafening.

The fact that complaints are what it takes to get anything out of BHVR is disheartening. Getting my ass handed to me while I learn and practice isn't exactly my idea of fun. I would gladly take a practice mode over the MMR any day. And the fact that the mobile game has one and the main game doesn't in 5 years time is ridiculous.

    To be fair.

It sounds like a really hard task to design a good MMR system for this type of game,so i can kinda understand them taking so long for ut.

I agree that designing a proper MMR system is no doubt no easy task, but something needs to be done to ensure the longevity of this game. The game can be a blast play, but BHVR said that each match, on average, should end with two kills and two escapes. And anyone who plays this game knows that that couldn't be further from the truth.

can't disagree with this. but we are small little customers to them and there are thousands of other players spending lots of money on skins and dlc every day. they don't have motivation to go any faster, well apart from extreme failures like binding of kin and 4.5.0 release

True. Every game will always have their whales.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

they are just a slow company but some day we will have it

Being a slow company would hold weight if they were truly an indie company, but they're not. BHVR houses over 600 employees now, and DBD is their only game. There's no reason for this game to run as poorly as it does.

Ruin, Undying, Tinkerer, and BBQ is still quite good with him even after the patch.

I was taking a break Since the last MMR update, I come back to test the 24 hours trial and was One of the funniest day that I remember playing DBD as killer.

Now Im just waiting for new MMR to enjoy the Game again. But honestly, I think they are not going to make It real because SWF Will face Nurses and Spirits every Game and this groups will quit.

Survivors are the money makers for BHVR so if they upset premades, they Will loose tons of money and that is not gonna happen.

New MMR is my last Hope to keep playing DBD.

Yeah I'm waiting for the new MMR to go live myself. Bhvr talked about it and blood point bonuses with ranks months ago, and there's still no indication of when these changes are going live. At this rate I feel like it's never going to happen.

DBD will forever continue to be a sweatfest with casual players. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a practice mode like there is with the mobile game, because at least you can blow off steam in that mode. How the hell there still isn't such a mode in the main game I'll never understand.

  • I will never play DBD on PC because of the vitrol that can spew out of some people's mouths in the comments. It's why I prefer to play this game on consoles.

  • The matchmaking system in DBD will forever ensure that matches aren't adequately balanced, which is what keeps people away and why I wish bots were an available option in custom matches. How the mobile game can have this option but not the main game after 5 years I'll never understand.

  • Time of day definitely plays a part in how quick the queue times are, which is why I wish there was a mode with bots. If I'm playing and queue times are high in my neck of the woods, then it would be nice to know that I can get games going instantly if I just hop into a custom game with bots.

  • @Gay Myers (Luzi) said:

I recommend reading this thread about their announcement: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/217721/developer-update-january-2021

But that’s not all; once we are happy with matchmaking ratings and turn the system on for good, we’ll be introducing rank rewards. Since ranks will no longer be used for matchmaking, they will instead be repurposed to reward dedicated players. Each month, everyone will be given Bloodpoints based on the highest rank they’ve reached and then be reset to rank 20.

    And

Please note: These changes will not be available immediately alongside the 4.5.0 update. This system will require further testing before it is fully enabled.

See, that's one of the things that confused me. Once ranks no longer play a part in matchmaking but instead reward dedicated players, does that mean ranking up will be easier now? If I play every night for a couple of weeks, will getting to rank one be more obtainable than before? What does BHVR consider a dedicated player?

  • @The_Bootie_Gorgon said:

    because gens R boring...

I agree with this statement. I know it's your main objective as a survivor, but if it's all you do then you leave the match with not only a pitiful amount of blood points, but you'll be lucky to pip in higher ranks.

  • I don't hate the new HUD, but I agree having everything scattered all over the screen is definitely a bit much.

Maybe you don't understand because you want x3 for 2 weeks?

Sorry, don't wanna be offensive. I just don't like how this forum is like 90% complaining. I mean, did anyone find a thread saying "thanks for the BP boost" or similar? I just read "when is next bloodhunt, it already took ages" - "never, we didnt get then, not then, we will never get again!" "They NEVER do" "they just could then but skipped" and then we get an unexpected 'new year' boost and everyone is like "JUST 1.5?" "not worth the time!" "they kidding us?"

    I just hate it

You don't want to be offensive but still are anyway? Alrighty.

My question stemmed from a place of general curiosity. It's no secret that the grind in DBD is abysmal. And to make matters worse BHVR has done nothing but add more items to the blood web while doing nothing to increase the overall blood point accrual rate.

So in short, yes I would love to see more blood points given because it's not hard to see why such a thing would be desired.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1882955#Comment_1882955

....because the duration is twice as long, so the bonus is half as much. It equals out about the same but includes more people this way and lets people relax and divide their time in a healthier way during the event (if they choose).

I mean if you are just saying you want more than they normally give; okay, but I am just answering your main thread question which is why it was 1.5x and not 2x.

And I appreciate the answer. To be honest I really haven't seen a change in queue times so I don't think 1.5 has a really drawn all that many people back into the game.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

1.5 but for twice the duration.

Tbf it was probably better this way for everyone.

See and I've never understood that. I've never understood why the bloodhunts are so short, but this time around I don't understand why the blood points are so small. Weird.

  • @SocialDistomancy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1878670#Comment_1878670

They goofed with 1.5x when it should have been straight double bloodpoints, a few more might have pulled themselves out of survivor queue an dloaded up bbq in that case. I'm honestly surprised the situation is so bad that even a bp event isn't easing up on survivor queue time by the sound of it.

Yeah I can't wrap my head around that either. Could BHVR really not throw in .5 more blood points?

  • @Woot1234 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1878672#Comment_1878672

How do they entice killers with more BP? If you're thinking BBQ, yes and no, as that consumes a perk slot.

Killers just naturally earn far more blood points than survivors. Not only is it also easier to get stacks of BBQ than WGLF, but the blood point add-ons are also far easier to come across in your blood web than it is for survivor.

So like I said they try to entice you into playing killer since it rewards you with more blood points, but the general experience just isn't worth it.

  • Hope you find the players you need. The fact that we have to wrangle up other players just so that we can practice without being expected to compete is one of the things that I hate the most about DBD.

  • I know BHVR tries to entice players into playing Killer with more bloodpoints, but the lopsided matchmaking and general toxicity is what keeps most people (especially new players) from playing Killer.

I wish there were a bot mode like there is with the mobile game. At least that way I can have a fun match without having to worry about all the previously mentioned downfalls that DBD is known to have.

  • Knowing that each killer will have their own separate MMR is what will get me back to playing killer.

Right now your overall rank determines on whom you get matched against, and that can be completely detrimental to a killer match. I played Ghostface for the first time a few weeks ago, and my overall rank being what it is, matched me against purple and red rank survivors. Needless to say going up against skilled survivors on a killer I've never played with before didn't exactly end well for me. As you can imagine I had no desire to continue being destroyed over and over while I learned the ins and outs of Ghostface.

  • @FilledPizza said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1863146#Comment_1863146

Rank 1 takes 85 pips to obtain, from rank 20, if you look at the Steam achievement progress. I assume this change is meant to reward people who play the game a LOT, which is strange considering that you need to put in a lot of effort for such a miniscule amount of bloodpoints that can be obtained in a few killer games with offerings and BBQ. They might make it require less pips to get to rank 1 with this change, but I doubt they will since you would have to change the achievements as well, I would assume.

I think it's more than that, but if not then regardless that's still a lot!

Yeah the amount of grinding players would have to do every month just get back to rank one is kind of nuts. It's easily obtainable if you're a streamer, but good luck if you got a life outside of DBD.

  • @ChurchofPig said:

    Answer: No.

The devs aren't going to care since ranks effect nothing anymore once mmr is active.

Most likely you're right. Knowing that matchmaking is being changed for the better, I'd like to think that so too would the ranking system, but most likely it won't.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

It's nice that we'll get BP for ending a rank reset in R1 but it's not really much. You will get 250k in like 3 matches if you bring BBQ and some BPS. Like someone mentioned, it will take you longer to get to R1 because you'll be starting from the bottom.

I realize that the same amount of blood points can be obtained through a handful of killer matches, but the amount of grinding that would have to be done every month just to get to rank one with the current pipping system would be ridiculously high. That's why it would be nice if it were replaced with an experience system. I'd like to think that playing a few matches a night over the course of a month would be more than enough to get you to rank one.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1863146#Comment_1863146

    In this update? No.

BHVR has not commented to my knowledge on the future of an experience system.

Yeah I didn't see anything mentioned either. But knowing that matchmaking will be based around a completely hidden skill system, makes me ponder if the experience system will be changed as well. If not, then that's an awful lot of grinding to have be done every single month.

  • @Pulsar said:

It will take longer since you are reset to 20 and since you will ideally be playing against people of equal skill to your own.

See that's what I want to know. Getting to rank 1 from rank 20 takes easily over a hundred pips. Since pipping doesn't correlate to matchmaking or skill anymore, will it be removed for say, an experience system?

  • For starters, the blood web needs to have items removed from it. Case in point: broken keys. On their own they serve no purpose whatsoever. Secondly, there needs to be far more blood hunt events. The Tomes are a nice touch and I like having them there, but sometimes the grind is way too much, and the task too high just to get some measly extra blood points.

  • Most likely it's going to be a quiet update like it was with the moris. Otherwise you would see people using keys and getting tunneled left and right.

  • @Ryuzaki said:

I wouldn't mind rebuying DLC on a different platform, as long as the characters I have levelled and the perks I have unlocked carry across.

Oh God don't give behavior any ideas! LOL Considering the amount of money I forked over for DLC packs, the last thing I ever want to do is purchase them all over again. Not to mention it would be a pretty lousy move for them to guarantee you that your progression for DLC carries over so long as you purchase them all over again.

  • @TauNkosi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1857675#Comment_1857675

I just started playing Trapper and the EXACT same thing happened to me again. First games matchmaking is reasonable. The second game was red Rank SWF. I'm trying to enjoy killer but these type of games make me not want to touch it again.

I'm honestly surprised that Killer rank, and how often you play certain Killers doesn't play a bigger part into matchmaking. This is also what keeps me from playing Killers I've never played before.

I played Ghostface for the first time awhile back, and only had enough blood points to get three level one perks unlocked. But because my overall rank was 10, the game figured I was good enough to square off against red and purple rank survivors. Once again things didn't end well, and I wasn't willing to keep getting stomped repeatedly. It goes without saying that I haven't touched Ghostface since.

  • Not really. In many ways dragon's grip is kinda of like make your choice, in that it's cool that you can cause the exposed status effect, but by the time a survivor goes back to the generator you just kicked (or a survivor gets rescued like with make your choice), you're usually nowhere in the vicinity to reap the benefits.

  • I know you're pain all too well. I'm rank 11 and it seems that all I ever get are purple and red rank survivors. At this rate this game has no hope of attracting new players with this kind of a matchmaking system. At the very least put in a custom mode with bots, at least that way there's some fun to be had while you learn the ropes instead of being wrecked over and over.

  • @noctis129 said:

    Are they swf?

The two red ranks possibly could be, but it looks like the other two aren't.

  • Matchmaking is what keeps me from playing killer. The last time I played a killer match my rank 11 squared off against an all rank 2 SWF. Needless to say it didn't end well. That was a few months ago, and I haven't touched killer since.

  • I primarily play on my PS4, but I just got an Xbox series X and I started playing it there (please Sony and Microsoft allow cross progression 🤞), and the 60 FPS is so nice! But the 4K resolution makes all the icons incredibly small. I know behavior said that a fix is coming, but I'm honestly surprised it hasn't happened by now. Adjusting icon and text size seems relatively small to the other issues this game has.

  • Since Victor does not benefit from any perks, you need to be sure that you're using passive abilities. So perks like undying, ruin, etc, can be effective. And as others will tell you, using sloppy butcher is nice as that will make survivors bleed a whole lot more letting you find them easier with Victor.

1 … 20 21 22 23 24 … 46
