It was never highly requested prior to it being introduced. I think it's a simple case of groupthink.
It was requested before. Every time someone made the mistake and got corrected in the forum everyone said just remove it when so many people are confused

So basically, killer has to 4k or they can be considered a loss.
2k is not a win, its 50/50
But they will tell you, "you got2k you should be happy" and "you sweaty if you go for the 4k"
Umm, the game dictates that as a win, so why wouldn't we go for the 4k?
We should all bookmark this post because it's our dev official answer to people saying this

They're considered a null. For the Killer, each match is treated as four separate 1v1 matches. If someone disconnects, that 1v1 is treated as if it does not exist: You will not gain nor lose rating based on it.
Wait a minute. Every one and there mum always say the game is balanced for a 2k 2e that would mean its balanced to be a draw for the killer. But if I escape its a win regardless what happens to the other three people. So is the game not balanced like that or do I lose mmr as a survivor when not everyone survives?
-
Does she need some nerfs? Probably yes because she is strong and I get that she sometimes feel overwhelmingbut no killer should ever get a rework again.
When Freddy got his rework a good friend of mine stopped playing dbd because he loved playing Freddy. Not because he was so strong but because he liked how he is played and the day the rework came live he unistalled the game because he saw neo reason to put time into it anymore. And I get that you start the game you find a killer you really like that just feels great to play and you dedicate time to learn him time to get the perks and money to buy skins and then one day your favorite is totally different. I feared the same when they announced that they work on legion.

Break leftover pallets
Go stand in the corner away from the exit gates or push them out
Walk away and go make a sandwich, look outside
Do anything else then coming to the forums crying about this.
I hope the same applies to survs that cry about bleeding to then right

Well luckily the majority dont have that experience, I dont agree with it either but when theres alot of RNG within the game itself it can be hard to balance things correctly.
When that DH change drops though I feel things will change for the better and I'm kinda excited for both roles. As survivor I'll see more killers (hopefully, they cant be hurt by DH so much) and I can play and killer without worrying about 3+DHs lol
Hopefully it gets better atm I think they need to put a warning on most killer before you buy them like caution after getting to good and climbing to much this killer will get worthless :D

No I feel lower the bracket to 250 is fine, it's great way to improve the majority of matches however playing at the top is very boring or unfun for either role and that can only really be changed if the cap is lowered.
What they're doing is a step in the right direction in terms of how their SBMM works but that cap HAS to be brought down a decent amount to improve the game at the higher level.
Basically high mmr survivors want to see more killers, high mmr killers want to feel like they can have more fun even if they play a weaker killer etc.
It's impossible to balance for all levels and the low-mid will take priority in BHVR eyes
Yeah for me the fact that there are killer that just can't compete is crazy on it own I think that shouldn't be but that's a controversial thing

No, but nice try.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2911946#Comment_2911946
I'll try explain the best I can, this can be abit difficult to get across clearly but I'll try.
The current SBMM matches people within 500 bracket, the mmr cap is 1900, this means currently a 1900 can match with a 1400 (while this is rare it can still happen)
With the new proposed changes the new SBMM will match people within 250, this means matches will be closer together so newer players will be matched with people closer and people middle of the road will be closer.
However at the highest level you can only go down, while before you could go down 500 it's now only 250 meaning if a player wants to see a 1400 in the new system the mmr cap needs to be 1650.
If the cap doesnt change to that low then people at the cap will actually have a smaller range of players than they currently do. And although people like to deny it the game isnt balanced for high level especially for most of the killers.
That is my concern, I already avoid killer because it's hard to have a fun match in the lobbies I get (mmr cap, off peak and playing weaker killers)
Survivors I dont care about difficulty as it's a 4v1 and survivor is usually very easy for me but then it's the issue of versing limited killers and the game getting boring.
Summary: better matches for all players except the top who get matched with less. This is just theory of the info they have shared atm
Ah Okey I think I get what you mean and that's a fair point. But wouldn't your proposal then keep it like it is now that I can just be unlucky and get the high mmr squad
-
@EntitySpawn said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2911858#Comment_2911858
Yeah see that worries me, I know I'll be at the cap just because I "win" slot but I was kinda hoping game would become more fun so I would be encouraged to play more.
I feel if the new cap isnt changed enough people at the top wont see a change.
I was actually wrong in my comment I just realised the current can match 1900 to 1400 but the new would only match 1650 to 1400 due to it being 250 pairing not 500.
I feel this will be great for all players except those at the top once again (unless the cap is lowered enough)
Could you explain what you mean with: "I feel this will be great for all players except those at the top once again (unless the cap is lowered enough)"
Do you mean let's say 1900 is the cap now and you are there you want the cap to be 1600 so you get more players under your lvl

I have seen my fair bunch of subtle hackers my self. My favorite are the guys who lopp normally but then when you get close they suddenly get faster but just enough to be out of range for you. I once saw a guy while watching a streamer he thought he was super smart but the experienced streamer immediately saw through his wall hack when you could hear the footsteps changing directions perfectly behind the big bookshelf in the library. Later he even turned it up a notch and just ran to a small cover and suddenly he was gone like a real magician

There are way less casual killer than casual survivor, and from business perspective it only makes sense to favor the bigger consumer base, add to the fact survivor mains way more likely to spend on the game.
And as you say survivors outnumbering killer 1:10. So is it makes any sense to lose so huge amount of consumers and playerbase?
For what? So that killers can have effortless 4K all the time.
Before evening too much killer and you need to wait up to 10+ min to get a game.
As said dbd is life are survivors, should be respected more, instead caving to killer main demands who want 4k all the time perklese
######### is wrong with you? We are all worth the same here because if you use that brain of your for half a second you will see if bhvr would do as you say and ignore the killer because the money comes with the survs then the game would just die because we are no bots that work for your entertainment.
Not only do you have a totally wrong and twisted look on the game balance and cry about nerfs and buffs that aren't even live yet you are also a totally stuck up survivor bias ######### because you really think you survs are holy and right and the killer should dance for your fun
-
They probably could I mean every thing has a price but the real question is do they want to? Netflix pulled a major d move in getting their license back because they wanted to make a game and feared having stranger things in another game would hurt the sales. Would you want to work with them again? I wouldn't but that sadly means we are losing out on a bunch of cool licenses

I agree with you, the "ideal" to really balance would be to give the survivors the ability to communicate (VOIP) like high MMR squads, but at the same time, I wouldn't like anything with kids in the chat talking nonsense, and besides that dbd doesn't was made to use communication.
The middle ground is to use a ping system that complements the HUD system, something that actually informs, for example, that you are purifying a totem (dull or hex) and at the same time informs the percentage of it in the HUD. I already had a similar idea, if you want to check it out:
To be honest after brainstorming with my friends I think the best thing is to just implement a ping system and let survs see each others auro all the time otherwise you can't get them on the same page as swf wich means killer can't ever be buffed to compete with them
-
That's what is say for an eternity. Give the solos build in stuff a big bunch of stuff. Yes I know many people will say hey that's unfair I want free perks to being a killer is hard enough and you are right but the only way we killer can get good buffs and a better over all life is to first get the solos up because we can't be buffed to face swfs otherwise
-
I main legion because to be honest when I startet I thought most of the other killer abilities looked hard to use right I got a bit scared having a hard time but legion looked alright and easy enough and I love them since my first game.
Also for personal reasons I like that I can be a man or a woman depending how my mood is and still play the killer I enjoy most
-
I can't understand the logic of some people. Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of NOED but people always say it's cheap because you get rewarded for failing to hinder the survs at completing the gens. Remember bhvr wants the game at a 2k/2e balance so logicly the gens should get done otherwise it would work so it's not a reward for failing anything or is my logic flawed

alright, well the blinded through walls is a glitch, (better be or imma be mad), and outside your fov is stupid, because you can't see it.
and yes, while a killer is locked in animation, you shouldn't be able to be blinded, that is super true.
Today alone I had a game I got so blinded so often. I get stunned first blind I need to kick the pallet next blind Gen kick blind relode my knifes blind

Probably a higher blind time for flashlights, as well as make it easier to blind the killer. for keys, do something because they're pretty much useless.
I don't know I mean i already get blinded through walls and from outsides my fov. And for longer times only if the reduce the amount of times the killer can't fight being blinded aka when we are locked in animation

Oh that is interesting what do you think flashlights need? I would say they do what they are supposed to do.

The fact that there are whole channels running on videos like this is a problem on itself. It's not just dbd it's every game under the sun. I will never understand why it is so popular to watch some guy destroying someone that is clearly weaker and then annoye and taunt them while doing so

Totally understandable. But that is what happens when you get punished for getting better in the game as soon as your actuall skill improves and you get better sooner or later you go to nurse or Blight to compete

Because unfortunately, the chance the 9-8 players are on, in the same region, and searching for a lobby of the opposite type the same time the 10 player is, is pretty low. For instance, the 9-8 players get into a game and start playing, the 10 player gets in queue later, gets matched with 5 or whatever, the 9-8 is done and starts another queue, gets a game, the 10 finishes, etc etc.
Yeah thas what I mean with mmr getting out of control. Maybe it would be better if we work on the balance of the game so some more people get into the higher ranks
-
The thing is I know why the systems does this so like you said people don't wait for hours but I hate it for one simple reason. Let's say the elit players are 10/10 so to lessen the q times they could be matched with 9 or 8 players. But why in all hells do I a 5 at best fece people that are atleast a 8? That makes no sense it feels like I get them because they have to long q times because we lack killer over all and at peak times everything gets out of control and we basically have no mmr at all
-
I'm very sorry to hear that you had such terrible games. I know only seeing the same 3 or 4 killers sucks but sadly that's what happens when the majority of 27 killers is useless at a certain point
-
Since q times are more important then balance or fun it doesn't matter what you do bhvr will but you on a nice silver plate and feed you to the survivors.
I know some people will probably don't like that but they should scrap that machanik. The system should not start ignoring mmr just because some swf is waiting for 10 min+ or because some other killer dodged a q. That would probably lead to people waiting for ever for a killer but so be it that's what bhvr did to them selfs
-
As a Legion main right now I just wait for the mid chapter so I play my fair share of different games. Generally I bounce between terraria, cyberpunk, binding of isacc and a bunch of other games because my true love wow isn't looking so good right now
-
For licensed characters it's not so easy because every outfit needs to be approved by the license holder and some people like Freddy guy are notorious difficult people
-
I still think most times people talk about tunneling it's either a camping problem or bad mates and not really a tunnel problem
-
I'm starting to think it is good that they think about removing the grades

If I think about a license I would love bioshock. The whole esthetic is just awesome the is room for cool survivor skins and even if I would prefer the classic bouncer as a killer there are many possible candidates and a rapture map would be so good I would farm offerings like crazy to see it as much as possible because let's be real the deep dark ocean is something creepy on a different level
-
Okey so how about we just start to ignore anything a guy does that basically makes a living from playing dbd. He is very very skilled he is probably one of the top 5 best dbd players we can't compare him and what he does with any normal player and even if he did a 1k streak with a killer that doesn't necessarily mean the killer is broken it just means this guy is on a lvl mmr doesn't grasp because there are probably not enough players of his league to make matches for him so he naturally players against the average high mmr players but I'm sure between them and him there are still worlds of differences

Well some way to get out there would be fair since survs can just of themselves if they think it's not worth to play it out

You are probably right. A big streamer does well with a killer wich in it self lead some people to demand nerfs and often it leads to an increase of of this killer being played. To be honest every time I see someone using otz as an example here in the forums I just stop reading. We can't and we shouldn't use people like him as an example and just because he has a certain view on a killer or perk it's not automatically right

Eventually that happens when the killer proxy camps the whole time - you have no choice other than letting that player die.
But then its a camping issue. The grab Mechanik is totally fine and all of you wouldnt see it nearly as much if camping weren't a problem because then it would be your fault
-
Without the grab any healthy survivor could just storm the hook and unhook in your face because the cd after hitting is long enough

IMO she does not need Buffs super-urgent. It is totally fine if the Devs wait some time. She is not the strongest Killer, but IMO a Killer which is really that simple to play does not need to be A- or S-Tier.
That's something I read a few times now and I don't get why. Why can't a killer be a good solid A tier and be relatively simple to play? I don't even know why there should be a killer under A tier at all because you basicly say hey that Charakter you really like is going to be near useless sooner or later because when you start facing good survivor you really should pick another one that's disheartening except from a company standpoint for sales this might be nice
-
The only thing I find strange is the timing in which the perks where introduced. We got boons. CoH bad everything els cool and then we got pentimento like here is a perk can run in xour hex builds that get cleansed 15 secs into game but because boons no one cleanses a totem

Two main reasons that I can see. One being MMR's effectiveness when it comes to balanced match making is dubious at best. They most assuredly don't want to give any ammuniton for that argument.
The second being what actual good could come from it? People already claim to be high MMR to make their arguments seem more valid. Every disagreement in this game would come back to my MMR is higher therefore my view is correct. This community is full of toxic little shits. It's best not to give them more ammo.
That's what I mean when we see oute mmr we have evidence to support us when we address the devs about matchmaking or balancing flaws.
Sure people would say stuff like i am diamond so I am right but let's be real that isn't an argument it's like saying I am right because my shirt is green.
-
@lavars said:
Because every community would weaponize that Information, that simple. You can see it with every game where they have a rank system like "gold, silver, bronze [...]". "Wooooow you are only silver, wow no wonder we lost[...]"
For sure this will happen but are we gonna ignore the good points because there are bad points? It isn't that simple.
Also people online are mean even if there isn't a reason for it. All these people that feel the need to rage in chat should get a day of to cool there nervs
Edit.: also this kinda proves my point if people complain they lose because there is a player in there team that is to bad matchmaking didn't work
-
@VikingDragonXii said:
Here is the thing they don't want to show us out MMR or say how it REALLY is calculated because then we will have people purposely smurfing worse than they are now. We already have a system that can easily be manipulated by us the players because of the Kills/Escapes = Skill. But that's obviously not the entirety of what's calculated because I have lost multiple games in a row when I ASSUMED I was in the high mid tier of MMR just by the skill set of the other players. After about 10 straight deaths, I still had rough matches. So there has to be other factors that calculate the score and I personally don't want anyone to Smurf thier way back to Low MMR to just beat on survivors or killers, that would force players to leave more.
That's definitely a valid concern but I people will smurf with or with out visible mmr because I don't think it can be that hard to find out how to exactly lower your mmr if you want to

You do have something to show how well you're performing; the emblem and grades systems. It's not very good at that job, but it is there and it is trying to do that.
Also, the players don't need any feedback on how good the matchmaking is.
Yep grade system is really not doing so well in that regard.
Okey I think on that point we need to agree to disagree wich is fair. In my mind the players should see if the matchmaking works good or not. Not only a vague I think it feels good thing. Because when I can see the game was lost from the moment it startet because the difrence in skill is so high it still sucks but I think it's better for your health as a gamer

Oh, for sure. I'm not necessarily against the idea of showing MMR, I just think it's worth reminding everyone that it being hidden isn't weird or unusual, it's absolutely expected and normal for the kind of system that it is.
Also, y'know, having it be shown would have undeniable downsides. The conversation can't be had honestly without those things on the table, y'know?
Sure it definitely will also have down sides and to be honest I don't play to many online games for me it just felt odd to have nothing to see if how good I am and how good the matchmaking is. Both ways has it positive and negative sides that's for sure
-
@Murgleïs said:
They don’t want :
- players to have a competitive mindset (but let’s be honest, not showing the MMR doesn’t prevent that at at all).
- to show the flaws of the matchmaking (it would be obvious how wrong it is if we could see someone high MMR against someone low MMR)
- to show the lack of balance between killers
- that long term players realize they are still bad at this game after all this time.
- to increase the hacking/cheating epidemic
@Lost_Boy said:
It's definitely to hide the fact that the MMR system just doesn't work. Imagine the forum rage if for instance you're a 1500 rated killer & you were to face multiple SWF all 1900 rated for like 3-4 games in a row or you're a solo survivor with an average team rating of like 1300-1400 & you face multiple killers at 1700+ rating. The forum would be littered even more than it is now with threads about how bad the MMR system is with screenshots to back it up.
The simple fact is that it has to be that way or high MMR survivor teams AKA SWF would need to wait a very long time in queue to be matched to a suitable killer. Mid to low MMR would most likely be fine though.
I think the same as both of you. We need to see our mmr so bhvr has no other option as to stop fooling us. We sit in the dark and when we say x they just say nah our system shows y it's all OK. Sure when you see your mmr you maybe feel the urge to improve that number but is that something bad? I don't think so. Every game has more casual players and more competitive players and for the competitive ones it would be a nice way to show progress. For your average casual player nothing would change except they will know when they got screwed by matchmaking or balancing.
The whole deal that matchmaking gets screwed to lessen the q times for the high ranks is a flawed system. Sure to a degree you need it and a good mix between mmr scores is a good thing for a round but not to the degree that some one with 200hrs can face a 4k hrs swf that's ridiculous. All this does is again hide the flaws of balancing because these guys had the same q times as the average player if killer and solo q player would be screwed by balancing
-

But what system will you use to make fair rounds when you cut out any ranking system? All this is gonna do is to make it even worse. The system we have right now isn't the best and it needs work done but no system at all? Really? That just sounds horrible and the only people that benefit from this would be the guys that are already really good because they don't care if they sometimes face equal opponents but more often then not they will just stomp
-
Okey so I know the whole DH discussion is a difficult field and I am honest I almost never play survivor.
I am fine with DH for distance but what really grinds my gears is that all the people tell you mind games in the chase are where you show the real skill but then I win a mind game and the survivor needs one button to escape my grasp that just feels cheap to be honest.
Anyone willing to discuss that? Maybe it's just killer bias idk

Not everything has to make sense. And, as you can clearly see, not everything makes sense in this game by "normal" laws.
True as long as we are hold captive by a spider God thingy things don't necessarily need to make sense. Maybe we could make a compromise and limit the angle of how far you can look around while working. This would buff the stealth killer a bit and spine chill and maybe makes working on a Gen a bit more tense
