What am I meant to do, exactly?

    It was the forest, btw.

You had a rough game. As someone who plays a fair bit of Trapper:

    • Your perks probably need a change. Sloppy is borderline useless right now. While this didn't happen that match, a single CoH will mess you up.
    • I'd drop Ruin too, and replace it with something more consistent. Pain Resonance is a good one if you want regression (with Trapper, you already have Agitation, and the two go together like chicken and rice).
    • I don't know what perk #3 is.
    • Unnerving Presence is borderline useless.
    • I'd go Starstruck+Agitation+Pain Resonance+CI/Surge/STBFL on Trapper. Which killers do you have, if you don't mind me asking?
    • Trapper is one of the most difficult killers in the game. Watch some of Otz's videos on him, his trap placement is genius.

You already know I gotta vote my boy for this one

So I'd argue deathslinger pre nerf ofc

    Post nerf he's trash

I have no idea why he was changed like that.

His quickscope? Okay, sure. I'd have given him something else in his kit, but whatever.

    His terror radius? That's ridiculous.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

They are trying to tell you that no means no. But without words, who can tell really. I suggest you use yes. Always the best option.

What's funny is that I always interpreted it as 'hey, I'm over here - pick me up'.

  • @ThePolice said:

It’s annoying the bubba masks are set to be removed, not because they were amazing cosmetics, it was just cool to have a free set of cosmetics that were unlockable through gameplay. Hopefully the devs add a mask with the 4 survivors faces stitched together, similar to his one in Texas chainsaw 2

    Yeah.

I'm completely against the removal of the masks, I feel it sends the wrong message (essentially, giving a lot of power to a handful of mean people in that they now know they can force the removal of something that a lot of people really like by using it in a racially provocative manner) and establishes a dangerous precedent. You've basically surrendered to the trolls and the nasties. It's the bloody 'okay' symbol all over again.

I'd bet that the 'racist Bubba' types are cheering inwardly that their trolling has had a definitive effect on the game itself. If I'd been in charge of this, I'd have MAC banned them and called it a day.

That said...it's not my game, and this isn't a hill I'm willing to die on.

  • @MindGame3301 said:

The addon seems initially insanely powerful. Everyone starts with a bear trap.

All four survivors can 99% gen and attempt to take them off before they start popping them or their 60-second death timer commences if they decide to keep them on, or someone is unfortunate enough to fail to remove theirs before someone else decides to pop a generator.

It has a lot of pressure but makes perks like corrupt intervention feel useless. I feel a nice change might be to make the addon make all survivors start with reverse bear traps but she still has 2. Another cool change could be that they are locked until the first generator is popped.

The bear trap is a death game that pig players can exploit. The pig should still be given an adequate number of traps, maybe even more than starting with 4...but my main topic was simply a small buff to Video Tape. Would her having one or two traps extra be too much?

If a dev could answer if it's balanced that'd be informative but dead-by-daylight games are a teeter-totter.

For an Iri? I think VT is fine. Iris should be powerful and game changing, and far too few killers have iris that are worse than browns.

The major issue is it's interaction with RS#2, which is a newbie killing machine.

That all said - Pig needs to be helped in a lot of areas, so until that happens - let her have her one powerful combo.

  • Because it's bloody hard to detect in a way that won't punish people for having crappy internet.

I do wish that all we had to do was report obvious lag switchers, but aside from 'moderate your damn game better and don't force us to record all our games and go through a lengthy, unintuitive report process', there isn't much more that can be done/

Curious to see what everyone thinks. Also, not my video. Just saw it on YouTube.

    https://youtu.be/NTXCQxoS11I

    Shrug.

Alchemist's Ring is pretty busted, but so are a lot of things in the game that haven't and aren't likely to be changed (CoH cough).

This video isn't typical. I've seen Ring Blights lose. This is a perfect alignment of the stars, much as those games on Shelter Woods where every possible tile is a gym and forms a literal infinite.

  • @QwQw said:

Damn, I've only had survivors that bad a couple of times.

Sorry you had to go through dealing with those smooth-brains. As others have said already, If I were you, I'd just close the end-game chat and private your profile.

Yeah, me too. It's just these are the ones that tend to stay with you.

My Steam profile is already private (I can only imagine how much further they would have gone if it wasn't) but I'm somewhat reluctant to turn off PGC, because I've also had some legitimately fun interactions.

  • @BenZ0 said:

It happened to me again... and its getting old I am sorry.

Playing blight, doing my blighty boy blight stuff like preparing a hug tech on a loop, I predicted right and came on the side of the survivors where the survivors vaults over on the dropped pallet and boom...

I destroy the pallet and the survivors slides over a ghost pallet and can run freely without consequences, since you are in your break animation the survivor has enough time to build again a lot of distance.

This ######### happens on many other Killers for example Nemesis where you tentacle over a pallet, the survivor dead hards so you end up without anything, the survivors gets to live and the pallet is ALSO not broken. Or the other way around, the pallet break gets the priority and you dont hit the survivor sliding over it.

Same goes to Oni chan with the demon dash, Billy and bubby boy with chainsaws etc etc.

I am not saying hit validation should be removed, I am asking for equality, survivors get their validation but Killers dont. Would be nice if you guys BHVR could implement it, thanks.

Btw pls make Legion great again.

Yeah it's annoying as hell. Demogorgon is also prone to this - you Shred, someone drops the pallet and DHs at the perfect time and you get validated and stuck on the other side of the pallet without breaking it.

So, so frustrating - and I've run into a handful of people who seem to be able to do it consistently/deliberately.

I get a lot of censor bypassed N-bombs these days, especially when I lose, oddly enough.

I usually try to report them all with the hopes they'll be removed from the community....I hope you do the same.

The devs recently confirmed that not only do they consider anything short of hatespeech and credible threats acceptable, they basically consider it an integral part of online gaming. I...wouldn't hold your breath (although maybe you can get them for the n-bombs).

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Yes, they do. I once had someone so angry they looked through my past steam names, went onto my Twitch, watched through hours of VODS, then followed to know when I was next live, only to start insulting me like nobody's business there and then.

It was ######### horrible at the time and I'm shocked I didn't cry on stream. ######### anyone like that in the absolute worst ways.

Literally just got out of probably my most 'wat' match ever, where I was insulted seven ways from Sunday because I...let people go on their death hooks. They even commented that my Steam profile was private (and yeah, boy am I glad it is).

This community can be utter arse sometimes.

They 100% tweaked something (My guess is Devotion is taken into account). And I only have 550 games as a sample size. The MMR noticeably put me against the top 1% teams 20 games in a row today.

I doubt it. I'm Dev 1, and I'm facing people with thousands of hours at times.

  • Doctor is...close.

The major thing I dislike about him is how about half of his power depends on his addons, and some of his addons are worse than an empty slot (his shape ones). His shocks also have very odd validation at times.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Ah, so you've finally gotten to the point where SBMM decides to just fail. Welcome.

Eh. I like the idea of the system, and overall my matches have generally been more even - just over the last two days, something feels...off. Like queues were getting too long for survivors or something so they quietly tweaked something.

Wouldn't be the first time (I joined right after killer matchmaking protections had been entirely disabled, and the devs hadn't said a thing).

  • @AnObserver said:

Walls? Yes, it should go through them.

Floors/Ceilings? I agree that they should not (It should be a Cylinder, not a Sphere).

    It's a cylinder.

You can clearly see this on maps like RPD.

Thing is - apparently they can't code that, which is why stuff like Surge and the TR go through floors.

Boons are just going to have to get nerfed, CoH in particular.

  • @Alphasoul05 said:

We need perks to only have one rank or the overall amount of BP gained in-game to be increased, then have BP offerings removed to compensate, preferably a few months prior to use them up.

Honestly it's amazing to me that the more money you spend on this game to own killers and survivors, the more you are actively punished for purchasing the newest survivor/killer when you try to get the perks you want.

    Shrug.

BHVR said they were removing perk tiers, which never actually happened. About 15 months ago if I recall. I'd love to know why.

    Hello everyone

I was wondering if anyone had any tips or strategies to help win on Springwood, or at least stand a better chance as killer? This is my weakest realm as killer, as it is for many others. So many gens upstairs and downstairs, difficult to patrol effectively, and the Preschool building, get caught there and you'll lose a lot of time.

Are there any methods to make this map less frustrating for killers?

It's a dumb, broken and imbalanced map. As a rule:

    • The house with the basement, as others have said, is a pseudo-infinite. You have to break the wall, and even then it's annoying as hell.
    • Most of the structures are really strong and you can loop a lot of killers there for ages if you do it right. Don't chase people there if they seem good, you will fall behind even if you play it perfectly.
    • Stake out 3-4 gens early on and defend them. Preferably ones that are exposed.
    • You'll want to break one of the walls in the main structure, as if you don't, survivors that go down in there can potentially be unhookable.
    • If someone puts a CoH boon up in one of the houses, you're probably going to lose if you don't have an instadown or the capability of ending chases really fast.
    • Try to eliminate one survivor as early as possible. Don't be afraid to camp or tunnel it out.

It's one of a handful of 'you're going to have a bad time' maps, along with Cowshed, Gas Heaven, Cowshed and Haddonfield. Go in hard and mean right from the start.

  • @Fantasy said:

    I started out as a survivor main and remember;

    - Crouching past crows and if I set one off I'm probably doomed.

    - Facing a Wraith with BBQ for the first time and it blew my mind, how is it fair the killer can see where I am?!?

    - Pig was scary and OP...

    - I had no clue what was happening vs Old Freddy

Pretty funny now but I kinda miss being this clueless.

I started as killer...right at the point where killer matchmaking was completely disabled. It was miserable.

    • OoO giving people wallhacks and seeing it meant I was going to get hammered.
    • Decisive Strike acting as a literal extra life.
    • Tons of places where survivors could crawl and you couldn't pick them up.
    • Every second game was against a SWF with 100x my hours on their least experienced member, or against smurfs.
    • I camped every game, not knowing that it went against the 'etiquette' of the game.
    • I ran Relentless, not knowing that it was crap.
    • I would have to sweat my butt off to get one kill.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

All events should have BP offerings like annivesary cakes or at least they should add Bloodhunt to all events or maybe event tomes like Halloween?

    Just look last 2 events:

Halloween - Event tome is good idea, i liked. So i did not get bored and they gave us 2 good cosmetics. This was best event of this year for me.

Winter Event - I opened all cosmetics first day and event died for me.

    Mm.

The snowmen were a cute idea for all of a few hours. Then it just became an annoying gimmick. Having an event mechanic that completely poops on killers and completely negates several killer powers was daft.

  • @El_Gingero said:

CoH is one of the most overtuned things I’ve ever seen in a pvp game. Just memeing around with a full boon totem build has won me so many “unwinnable” solo queue games it’s a joke. What’s a killer to do at endgame if you have a boon on the other side of the map? You can just rescue over and over without fear. The killer can’t do a single thing. And that’s the least of it.

The 'safe zone' it creates can be frustrating, but to my mind a boon in a structure where it both covers a huge amount of the map and is basically a lose/lose (if you snuff it, the time you lose doing so is almost as bad as the healing/aura concealment itself) is the major problem.

It's quite amazing how basically all the Fog Whisperers, survivor or killer, agree that boons - particularly CoH - need changes, and are even pretty close to agreement on what those changes should be. And yet...nothing.

  • @Dstorv said:

Put that perk on the artist and you can block all gens thats being repaired while camping a survivor.

CoH made it onto live servers.

Decisive Strike made it onto live servers.

So did OoO and a bunch of other stuff.

Let's put it this way. DMS is a decent perk that is really good on one killer. It's...Starstruck. If BHVR nerf it because it's good on one killer, that would be sort of crappy.

  • @Minecraft said:

judging by what i usually read i'm gonna assume people here just dc and go to bed crying

No, we just camp, tunnel and run instadown stuff that isn't much fun to go against. Or just stop playing.

    @Rivyn said:

Tunneling is usually my go to. CoH promotes that as it is, since any chase you split off and attempt to apply pressure elsewhere will be negated. Especially on the smaller/multi leveled maps.

    Yeah, that's my answer.

I don't camp, outside of EOGC, but I'll tunnel like a demon if I hear a boon go up.

Or, you know, jut fix the perk so it isnt broken? Even if you remove healing speed stacking its still broken.

The most elegant solution (as has been suggested by others):

    • Boons now break when snuffed.
    • CoH no longer stacks with anything else.
  • @glitchboi said:

Honestly gonna have to say Plague. Her buff made her almost, if not completely perfect design-wise (I would actually argue that she's absolutely perfect.) She's strong, balanced, fun to play as and interactive to play against, counters many survivor perks while having counterplay on her own. Her base-kit is excellent, and her add-ons are amazing post-buff.

Yeah I really enjoy Plague. She's one of my go-to 'I've had a bad game and need to enjoy myself' killers.

    Still astonishingly rare though.

You didn't spend money for the masks. Why would they give you a real-life money currency back? And 1600 at that? People are out of their minds.

1600 is excessive...but hey, always aim high and negotiate down.

I do think that the current compensation is miserly.

Yes, they didn't cost money - but the killer does, and the masks are potentially a reason why someone spent that money on the killer. AFAIK, there's no precedent for BHVR doing something like this in recent memory, so yeah - if I was a Bubba main, I'd be pretty steamed.

  • @Pizzasauce said:

I don’t mean end game chat, I mean where people go out of their way to look up your username and send you a personal message about how much you suck. As a killer main, every time, I get a "gg" I am always surprised because I think it is just more hate mail.

Well my friend, who is a survivor main, says he doesn't experience this. Do any other survivors out there share in his experience, or is the opposite true?

    From my experience?

Yes, but almost always from other survivors.

I had someone get crazy salty with me in postgame a while back, hoping that family members would get cancer etc. because they got caught and apparently I didn't bodyblock for them despite being on the other side of the map. I can only imagine what they would have posted on my Steam if it wasn't private.

She's by and enlarge one of the most unfun killers to vs.

Really? I don't mind facing her. I just see her so often that it gets very old.

I was really hopeful that Artist would break the trinity, but unfortunately the nerf to her 'bird mines' was just enough to nudge her out.

You can't "play around" a Dead Hard for Distance. There is no counterplay to it when used for distance. Aside from being one of only a few ranged killers, and even then.

    It needs to be gutted.

Oh yes, DH is bonkers OP and it's amazing that it's still a thing. I just...sort of anticipate it now. It honestly scares me more when a survivor doesn't have DH, because I still play as if everyone does.

    @SunsetSherbet said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2741945#Comment_2741945

Are they fixing the problem where it eats powers? Dealing with the false feedback is good but when I saw that change, it didn't answer to me if the power eating issue will be fixed. Because that's my biggest problem with DH right now. That it can be an extra special counter to killers like Twins due to the validation change.

The dev post honestly isn't clear to me on if it will fix that or JUST the blood wiping stuff. Which, while annoying, is no where as bad as just immediately losing Victor due to a validation.

Yeah, but 5.5 clearly demonstrates that the devs don't really give a half gram of goat poop about Twins anymore.

  • @JimbusCrimbus said:

Last time survivor queues got this bad (they were actually worse at the time), BHVR panic nerfed Decisive Strike; and that DID actually make survivor queues better, because no longer could a survivor sit on a gen, in your face, and be invincible after being unhooked.

The only thing that's going to make killers come back now is a heavy nerf to Dead Hard. IMO, Dead Hard, especially now with DH validation, is worse than DS ever was.

Dead Hard is getting a slight nerf in 5.5, in that it shouldn't give fake hits anymore.

Honestly though, I can mostly play around DH. CoH now...ugh.

But like I kind of get it now.

Yes, it can be. But I've also had games where I get 3 randos who are amazing and I get carried.

As someone who plays more survivor now (before it was 50/50 each side), I’ll say COH is a problem. Was playing earlier,

and happened to be against a legion… needless to say they struggled getting a 1k because we were able to mend and heal and do gens. They do need fixing so they aren’t as strong. You factor it in with multiple people using it - which there usually are, and it becomes a nightmare.

I did a killer ritual a few days ago, loaded into the game… 4 survivors running boons, all of them active, one was using all three, 2 using shadow step. Saboteur, breakout, BT, DH, flashlights. Thankfully by endgame they got greedy and three died after one had already been pushed out of the exit gate and I clutched a 3k (2 had been deactivated due to them running me into them, and the 3rd from one leaving). Before that I’d managed a couple of hooks, got rid of a few boons but once they were snuffed they were back up, everyone was healed instantly and I couldn’t do much. (And no, no NOED to help in endgame, or any other perk for late endgame pressure - just their cockiness lol).

Otz, Tofu and basically every streamer around agrees.

It'll have to get changed sooner or later - or everything else is going to have to be rebalanced around it.

Yes, but you think literally everything is fine.

  • @SuzuKR said:

    The entitlement is beyond delusional.

I don't see the entitlement here.

Survivors. And yeah, you might be like "but X is boring too". Thing is, so far, either people have been neutral towards it or actually had fun against it. Freddy was unanimously boring to face.

He's still boring for survivors. He's just bad now - boring kit, awful, dog-poop tier addons.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

Lower your expectations. To zero. Then realize what they are giving us is pretty nifty.

    No, it really isn't.

These cosmetics were incredibly hard to earn and really unique to boot. Honestly, removing them is silly - but if they want to go that way, some cells would be a better compensatory package, or at least enough shards to buy a different killer.

  • @Mileena_Kahn said:

I don’t understand why killer mains want circle of healing nerfed AGAIN… They already boob ranges smaller and they already took out the stacking from other healing perks which was the most busted thing in the game combined with it. So, what’s the biggy?

    ...Boob ranges?

    Okay :).

    Also - not it isn't.

They didn't take out the stacking from other healing perks. It's still a thing, which is why those 4-5 second heals are possible.

    But aside from this:

    • It projects through walls and floors, meaning that it can literally cover half of a map.
    • Certain positions (RPD library is the best example) are so effective that even if you know where it is, snuffing it means you fall behind.
    • Giving everyone a souped-up self care completely counters several killers, Wraith being the best example.

COH needs a nerf. You know it, I know it, every streamer that has opined on it knows it. It's unhealthy for the meta and just rubbish to play against.

  • @IamFran said:

    Demogorgon and Pinhead maybe.

    Pinhead?

    I'd disagree amazingly.

After his nerf, about half of his addons are almost useless and any indoor map against a half competent team means 'you don't have a power'.

Oh, and whatever that tech/exploit is that allows people to solve the box without allowing you to teleport still exists.

  • @hailxsatanxeveryxday said:

    Or else.

I just figured I'd pass the message along to the rest of you so that you don't have you put yourselves through the trauma that I put myself through today after the full horror what I'd done dawned on me.

I'm shaking. I'm sweating. I even cried a little. And I know I won't get any sleep tonight. How could God allow this to happen? The humanity.

On the plus side, I know that the next time my controller goes screwy or my connection goes out for five minutes and I spend the first half of the game staring into the wall as a result, the survivors are going to give me a free kill. Because things in this game work both ways.

    Right?

    My policy:

    • An early DC? I'll play it out. If the other team sticks it out, I'll let the last one or two go on their last hook.
    • Multiple DCs? I'll end it fast.
    • Someone is BM? Nobody gets out.

    Let them complain.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2741641#Comment_2741641

The thing is with Freddy, you don't have to get off the gen. You can tough it out and see if he's teleporting to your gen or someone else's, and take the hit if you guess wrong. That's usually a bad idea, but after a few hooks with Dead Man's Switch, it's the only play to make.

Artist, you have to get off the gen or she can down you from across the map. Also, being injured will forcibly push you off the gen and activate DMS anyway.

I could see Doc also making this happen if he used Distressing + TR addons; some maps would allow him to Static Blast everyone off every gen.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2741236#Comment_2741236

Does that actually work? I thought Dead Man's Switch activated as soon as a survivor lets go of a generator, not if all survivors let go of the generator.

AFAIK, it's if any survivor lets go.

That said, I don't think it's OP. It's good now, bordering on excellent on some killers - but I don't think it's going to break the meta. Hard regression will always trump blocking, and to include DMS you're going to have to drop something else (and with the semi mandatory nature of BBQ, killers don't really have free slots at the moment).

It's like Starstruck. It's a decent, if gimmicky perk that works very well on some killers.

When I play survivor, I respect the hell out of a good Huntress. Huntress gameplay feels the most fair and when they do well, it's because of nothing but skill (typically).

On the contrary, the second I see a Trickster or a Doc, I'm like "ugh, why?" We got no skill brain dead knife thrower and I can't find people so let me use my automatic tracking device to compensate and I just find them both so low skill ceiling that I don't feel they deserve their wins XD

    Can anyone relate?

    I respect good:

    • Artists. This killer is very difficult to get the hang of.
    • Demogorgons. See above. He seems so simple on the surface but wow does he have a lot of complexity.
    • Cenobites.
    • Billys and Bubbas.
    • Pigs.
    • Wraiths.

I am not asking for them to remove face-camping, I am asking for them to adjust it. Two very different things. I've said this since the beginning of my post.

I also understand that they are also already planning something to address it. What I was doing was trying to bring light to the fact that this 'tactic' was used predominantly (whether you agree or not that it can be a form of BM) by killer players who are simply looking to make sure that this one survivor has a bad experience, so I can see why those that were using it for racist purposes would too.

I don't have the answer to what they can do, but I wanted to bring it up as a discussion being that the devs have stated they condemn this type of BHVR. From my experience after playing for 6.4k hours and being face-camped more times than I can count, I think that they should look at Bubba's ability exclusively, because as I pointed out before no other killer is capable of doing this. So that would be at least a start.

Yeah, I think we are talking past each other now. Going to let this lie.

Regarding facecamping, Bubba is likely the 'best' at it, but Myers, Ghostface, Billy, Hag and several other killers using certain addons/perks can also do it really well. The thing is - 'fixing' facecamping is nearly impossible. I've actually tried to think of a way myself, and I can't. Every solution I come up with would be a huge buff to survivors.

The people (streamers) who claimed they were harassed by the blackface Bubba face-camping them, received messages afterwards regarding the incident. Hence why I bring it up. It is a busted playstyle that has been generally used to BM other players so why wouldn't the racist ones also not take advantage of it too? You have a blackface Bubba and a face-camping tactic which is just the recipe they need.

Am I saying we need to lump everyone of those Bubbas into one criteria? Absolutely not.

What I am saying is that, they are using this less than fun playstyle as a part of their convenient "tool" because they know that Leatherface is the only killer who can get away with it. Because I feel like if it was any other killer there are more options to save that player to where it would ease some of this specific situation.

The fact that they get an advantage towards their own objective is just icing on the cake.

Okay, I think you're missing my point. Let me try rephrasing.

I don't think that it's a playstyle used to BM other players. It could potentially be used like that, but that's true of...basically everything in this game. The masks: I understand. I disagree strongly with BHVR on the removal (I think it's a terrible, anti-egalitarian approach), but I do understand their reasoning and it's not a battle I'm really interested in fighting anymore.

    Facecamping? That I'm not following.

But okay, let's assume your perspective.

How do you 'remove' facecamping, and what do you do when these same hypothetical players just start tunneling? Remove tunneling?

Killer is stressing me a lot lately, more I play killer the more I’m unhappy.

every game I’ve played today (console)

everyone has escaped along that tbagging and clicking the usual even before a gen has popped. Usually doesn’t bother me but today it has.

i main Freddy and play other killers too but today I thought I’d go for platinum on my PS4 I have platinum on my ps5 and I wanted to get Freddy’s trophies again (dlc)

but today it was horrible! I always get put with sweaty survivors as Freddy! I okay him most but I’ve been playing other survivors lately. Usually I just play with no addons or perks when up against constant sweatiness!!

    i just fancy a chill game…

the only chill thing about dbd is survivor 🤣

i have been playing a lot more Survivor.

    many killers out there struggling??

Something is definitely up today. My queues have been nearly instant and it's been sweaty BM SWFs all the way down.

So are you saying that the people who brought it up to BHVR (Basically what started this whole situation) didn't also showcase that these Bubbas that use the mask didn't also point out that they were being face-camped as further evidence? Meaning that there was nothing they could do, because it is a playstyle that promotes it?

You are the one who is trying to make this about me, when it isn't. I specifically explained how I have seen it as a "common denominator" in these situation AS IN maybe it is something they need to consider when adjusting whatever they are to face-camping.

It isn't my problem if you are seeing it from a different perspective than the one I have already explained.

    Sigh.

No, I'm saying that the facecamping is incidental. Neither you nor anyone else knows or can know that they were doing it to be a bigot, unless there is some sort of trend (which we wouldn't be privy to) or they admitted as much in postgame (which would be easily reportable).

Hell, I get threatened with a report at least once a week because I 'tunneled someone because they are playing Claudette/Adam/Tapp/Jake/what have you/wearing a Pride charm', despite me not doing anything of the sort. Hell, I don't even really notice the avatar someone is playing, aside from a few because they are either louder/quieter than average or because people playing Ash/Ace/Dwight tend to be more toxic, from my experience.

Beyond this, the people who 'brought it up to BHVR', from my understanding, weren't complaining about being facecamped. It was a tenuous connection between the masks and another archaic signifier of bigotry. That seems to be where most of the discourse was happening on both sides of this.

I'm saying that I think it's your personal beef with facecamping because I don't see other alternatives. Your explanation seems to be 'x person says that they were facecamped by someone because of their race'. I'm saying that:

    • How do they know that it was? If a Bubba is wearing a Claudette mask and camps an Adam, is that automatically bigoted, even if it was just a matter of them downing that person first?
    • How do you know that they are correct?
    • How is this different from being BMed in some other way because of their race?

Do you see what I mean?

    Sophistry? Give me a break.

You compare a flashlight click because it bothers you, to face-camping when people get 2 things out of it, a BM and an advantage towards their objective. So no, it isn't just "The Bubba camped and hit me on hook" It is also "The Bubba camped and BM'd me on hook, meanwhile the game thinks they are playing the game".

Again, if you actually read and invested into more than just implying things you would know that the reason I brought it up is because of the feedback that was received which was the entire point of why the masks were removed.

I was only bringing light to the fact that many of those cases if not all, they all had one thing in common which was that they face-camped. This was after I watched a video in trying to understand some of the players that have been victims of racist harassment and how it needs to be addressed. It isn't and shouldn't be limited to the removal of the masks.

A playstyle that people (including yourself) like to throw around as a "strat" when it isn't. Hence why it is being looked at.

I think what is absurd is that you are being cynical when all I was trying to do is be sympathetic towards the players who have had to face the racist BS.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2741612#Comment_2741612

Yeah? And I see some things still stay the same even in 2022.

Yes, sophistry. You are somehow trying to draw a correlation between facecamping and bigotry, based on third hand non-specific anecdotes, while ignoring the fact that this exact same argument could be applied to a wide variety of other negative actions within the game.

But okay - let me throw this one back to you.

How exactly is facecamping a tool of bigotry in a way that, say, endlessly flashlight spamming someone because they are a minority group streamer isn't?

And yes, facecamping is a strat. It's a cheesy one, and one that I do think that needs to be changed - but not due to any connection to potential bigotry, but because it's too effective for the amount of effort it takes and because it's frustrating to go against. This should be done in conjunction with looking into why killers feel the need to facecamp. What is it about the role on specific characters that makes them adopt this style? Do they need help in other areas?

You can't just 'remove facecamping'. I simply cannot think of a way of doing this that wouldn't be abused endlessly by survivors or result in a huge, sweeping nerf to all killers. I already have survivors running me around hooks so that I need to choose between dropping chase and eating a penalty.

I'm not being cynical. I'm saying that your argument is absurd and comes over as self serving. The exact argument you are making could be applied to nearly every offensive action within the game, and a bunch of others.

Some people will not understand the correlation of what these people are doing, to target minorities to get away with it. Mostly because they themselves haven't been victims of it.

Like, I specifically explained how I am not trying to compare the mask issue, just the action and intent behind it. Because especially on Bubba people can and will face-camp because of his horrible design behind his power and how it works when he idles at a hook. This gives them a "tool" to use because they know the person has no other option but to not struggle.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2739450#Comment_2739450

Where and when did I say it was a hate crime? Which part did you read that made you think that? I specifically explained how face-camping is being used to target groups too. I.E. It is the common denominator of what these type of players are using because Bubba is the only killer who gets away with it.

Also, the people I am talking about aren't winning. Here is where you are wrong. You call it a strategy, when a strategy would suggest that the player wants to win and play the game. None of which are present when someone face camps 1 survivor because they are only exploiting (cheesing) a bad playstyle that shouldn't even be a part of the game.

Teabagging and Flashlight clicking does not gain you any advantage towards survivor objective completion. So I don't even know why this is brought up. I know you hate that survivors "BM" you, but that isn't the same thing as face camping. Everybody knows this.

    No, this is sophistry.

Essentially, any tool in a competitive game can be used in the manner you are describing. The issue is the intent, not the action.

I could tunnel someone because of x, I could flashlight spam them because of x, or I could teabag someone because of x. The list would go on forever, essentially. I'd say that BMing like this is actually worse, because it grants no advantage to the players (there is no reason to do it aside from being nasty).

You'd have to remove all offensive actions in this game, and even then - people would find a way.

And again, this seems like your own personal beef with facecamping, which you are trying to wrap in 'well, it's used to target certain players'.

Facecamping is a way to remove one player from the match without much counterplay, and often gain additional hits and downs as the other survivors attempt to come to their rescue.

BHVR have already stated that they are looking into ways to discourage facecamping - but it's difficult to do in a manner that won't completely break the game.

My issue is that you are somehow trying to draw a parallel between facecamping and being a bigot, which is completely absurd.
