How is his own thread that he started, titled "keys vs moris", "whataboutism"? I think you misunderstand the definition of the word because it definitely doesn't fit here
Because if you read the OP, he's doing a 'well killers are OP so keys are fine'. That's whataboutism.

dude you are trying so hard to nit pick my original post worst part is you are not even making any sense
I said if a killer has franklins I in no way said the killer has to wait until they see a key in pre game lobby to equip it. if you already have Franklins then your point doesnt matter - thats outta the way
when I was talking about the power role I did not make a definitive statement. I merely felt uncomfortable with the term power role. again its just something you are nit picking so there is no real point to be made with this.
that is very true. survivors are also allowed to not hold back in the same scenario but I just dont see the survivors winning, drawing ok that's possible but more than one survivor escaping through the exit gate? highly unlikely. you are not disproving anything you are just using the whataboutism that you apparently have a disdain for
and your last remark is just ridculous
a 7,000 hour survivor main has most of their skill in map awareness and killer awareness. Besides their main talent which is looping extremely effectively they have a good game sense of when and where to be and what to do. Having a key does NOT guarantee you will live anymore than using your game sense to escape (all of this is also affected by luck of course). Also a unskilled survivor with a key can experience just as much ease as the skilled survivor when it comes to escaping with a key whereas a skilled killer increases their control and map pressure and moris are directly related to the most important action a killer will perform throughout the match which is hooking and downing survivors. But a bad killer may only get to use their ebony mori once or twice because they lack the ability to down survivors quickly among other things
alright so if you are somehow still unsatisfied with something lets just call it a "difference of opinion" because you are no longer arguing for the sake of an enlightened discussion
This is a video game forum mate. If you want to have an 'enlightened discussion'...this may not be the place for it.
- What killers run Franklins baseline, and why?
- Yes, you are (and were) being deliberately fuzzy. But your point was pretty clear.
- What exactly do you mean by 'winning' here?
- Now this is just getting silly. Are you saying that having a key does not have an effect on a survivors chance to survive? Or that a skilled survivor with a key is no better off than a newbie with a key? Honestly, not sure - but either way...just no.

There needs to be something in place against tunneling rather than borrowed time and ds, why do I get punished just because I chased you around for 4 gens...split off and get people off the gens! Even I know this as the killer. But yet there's that one guy that ruins your game by going for you right when you get off the hook everytime.
No.
Firstly, if I have someone hooked I'm not going to camp them, but if I hear or see someone running towards the hook I'll certainly be patrolling. My goal is to grab them, not down you - but if it happens, it happens. Just take it on the nose, much as killers have to do regarding other stuff.
Secondly, if I'm tunneling you, one (or more) of three things is true:
- You decided to teabag or flash me. Well, you wanted my attention and now you have it.
- I consider you a high threat target. If you are a Blendette with a toolbox or anyone with a key, it makes tactical sense to eliminate you first.
- We are heading towards the final gen being done and I've yet to secure more than 1 kill. It's going to be someone, and it's you this time. You'll survive.

It doesn't activate without your knowledge, you should know how the perk itself works and how survivors react. If a mildly flashing icon that stops 10 seconds before you arrive is making them run away then they are clearly the kind of survivors you shouldn't have a problem killing. Seriously, if spine chill is giving you problems that is entirely your own bad plays, and as m as I hate the term it really is a Git Gud moment.

You are basically saying that you aren't good enough. Spine Chill never gives me problems, to the point I counterplay it automatically it even as non-stealth killers.
Calling something that is reliably done by others "unreliable" just means that you need to get better at doing it.
Got a video or something I could watch? Would be very intrigued to see this.

Freddy is the easiest killer to play without having to master him. Every other killer you need to know how to play them properly to do well. Doctor's also extremely good but I feel like I need to concentrate to do well with him.
Also please never mention you playing Hag infront of me.. I cry everytime I hear someone say that.
I really don't get the Hag hate. Firstly...nobody plays her. Secondly, unless you are dealing with someone with hair-trigger reflexes, top tier perks and incredible mapsense, she isn't that hard to counter play.
The second I get a team that uses a flashlight to remove my traps or knows to crouch over them, I get skunked. And yet...so few do.

We'll get two killers slightly reworked. My guess is Myers and I couldn't even begin to guess who the other is.
Cross-Progression will be added for Switch/Stadia/Steam.
From what BHVR have said, it's likely Clown. They seem to think that Pig is completely fine and that it's simply a matter of nobody 'playing her right'. Reminds me of Monk Tanks in the Legion beta in that regard.

that dbd in a nutshell
What really helps me maintain my zen as a killer is realizing that my win state is killing 2 survivors and playing actively. I earn less BP when I wipe them, usually.
Of course, the smurfcomps and stompcomps seem to consider their only acceptable outcome being a killer with zero BP, but that's not going to change.

Undetectable means it doesnt show your aura. All it does is say when the killer is looking in your direction not what way they are coming.
It doesn't matter. It completely negates most stealth toolkits, and Myers. On top of providing an extremely meaty bonus.

No it's quite obvious when you go to worked on gen and it keeps gaining progress but you dont see survivors. That makes spine c hi all obvious now doesnt it?
No. All it tells me is that:
- They might be stealthed nearby
- They might have quietly legged it
The problem is that it's a lose lose. If I hunt, they could be smashing down a gen. If I head off and try to find them, they scurry out like a bunch of weasels and finish the current gen.
But that's not the core issue here. The core issue is that it is an unreasonably hard counter to stealth of all types.

I think Clown reloading at full movement speed would be bad/too strong. There needs to be a feedback loop that teaches players to be economical with bottles, otherwise wasting bottles and reloading mid chase will allow the survivor to gain distance. What you’re suggesting would mean Clown could just spam away without any real punishment for it because he can still stay right on the butts of survivors while reloading mid chase. Not very balanced at all.
The reload time is still quite significant, and as it stands is one of the reasons why Clown is widely regarded as the nadir of killers.
And yes, from your name I can tell that you are a clown main.

I mean, of course you have to mention it was an SWF. This is of course a very important information, way more important than a Screenshot.../s

Yeah, I sort of wish I had thought of recording. But I was so completely nonplussed that it didn't occur to me.
If I come across it again, I'll certainly do so.
Maybe someone can try to replicate it? Crawl into the 'V' between a haybale and something else and see if it happens.
-
My wishlist (as a killer):
- Clown now moves at full speed while reloading.
- Wraith gains a low tier Windburst baseline.
- Reduced terror radius for Pig, and slightly increased movespeed while crouching.
- Spinechill no longer activates when a killer has the Undetectable status.
- Object of Obsession must now be activated manually, lasts 15 seconds and has a 45 second cooldown.
- Groups of survivors queueing together will always face a killer equal to or higher in rank to the highest ranked survivor.
- Moris now only activate when a survivor has been hooked twice and downed.
- Decisive Strike cannot be used if a survivor is grabbed.
- Killers receive a 10% BP bonus for every player in an SWF.
- Keys only provide an exit for the survivor holding them.
- Spirit no longer leaves a husk when teleporting, but produces significantly less noise while doing so.
- Orlom size reduced by 25%.
- Haddonfield removed from the rotation, pending a serious rework and someone with hedge clippers
- If a killer remains stationary for 8 seconds, all crouching survivors nearby acquire a faint tint (similar to Freddy's dreamstate).
- Myers takes 25% less time to move from Evil 1 to Evil 2.
- Pinhead announced as next killer.
-
I'm honestly just amazed that people still use Stadia.

It is realistic.
Approaching gens from roughly 36 meters away while strafing is the actual counter for spine chill (Remember most of these gamers are looking for spine chill to stay lit up - not just blinking once). You don't even have to be at a full 90 degree angle, just make sure the gen you are approaching is on the edge of your screen at about 30 meters and it won't activate spine chill. Strafe while listening for the new and improved gen noises on a stealth killer and you will almost always catch someone in a bad spot.
There is just...so much wrong with this post.
Firstly, gen sounds were reverted in the new update.
Secondly, you can't strafe into a lot of gens. Many of these are either enclosed or in indoor maps. And it's a dead giveaway against a stealth killer when it activates.
I'd be fine with the perk as is, if it didn't work while the killer was undetectable. It would still be an excellent perk - those bonuses are no joke.

Spine Chill is helpful and not helpful at the same time.
The Killer is looking towards my direction, do I run? Where is the killer looking at me from? It flickered, Is the killer chasing someone? Not very reliable information.
It’s literally Whispers, it activates, someone is around but where?!?!!
It's a bit more than Whispers. Against a stealth killer, it completely negates grabs and fakeout plays. Imagine Whispers, but the killer got a 6% bonus to movespeed and action speed while in the radius.

I love Undying. It opens up so, so many more builds that previously relied entirely on getting good luck.
Now it's still a little RNG, but far more rewarding.

Can we? I cannot tell you how annoying and irritating it is to be in solo que matches and see your teammates be so useless. Crouching in corners, leaving you to struggle, scared to death of a heartbeat, last 6 seconds in a chase, pre-open exit gates and leave immediately etc. I can go on and on give more reasons as to why solo que is stressful and matchmaking is still, til this day, is the icing on top of all this. Out of the 2 years I’ve been playing this game I will always believe that solo que takes the cake for the most stressful part of this game. Yes, that means I don’t even find SWF squads to be stressful. I get it, you might say “you take this game to serious”, or “not everyone is trying as hard as you”, even the famous “this game was never intended to have voice communication” but that’s beyond the point. I wish Dead By Daylight allowed Console and PC players to have a voice chat system outside of Discord, Xbox Live, PS4 parties, etc. so that experienced players could maybe coach the newer players and explain certain tiles, what a dead zone is and what not. At the moment PC has the pre-game and end game chat but it doesn’t do much IMO. What are your thoughts on solo que? Do you find it to be stressful or have you had any experiences like the ones I listed?
Nope.
Running into a full smurfcomp at lower ranks with Object, meta perks and triple tricked out toolboxes all selected the second before match pops is way more stressful.

If you know a survivor has spine chill, try and moonwalk to the gen, it works quite well.

finding keys are even more unlikely than survivors bringing them into games, now I dont have any statistics for this but we can all at least agree that ebony and ivory moris wre more present in games than pink and purple keys.
I never said killers are the power role not sure why people dont thoroughly read op before posting, they kinda just take things out of context and then argue.
as for the strongest killer vs strongest survivor you also didnt fully understand that either. I never said that in the context of a tournament. the most skilled players using what they want to completely demolish the other side is what I meant.
that means you get a spirit or a nurse that can use an ebony mori they;re best addons and extremely oppressive perks.
also what I meant by highly skilled is that your skill level does not effect the power of the key within the game whereas if you are a skilled top tier killer the mori is just overkill as it allows you to control the match far more than regular where some survivor would be able to overcome your capabilites.
- Not talking about finding keys. I'm talking about waiting until the last second before the lobby closes to equip one. I see this done with toolboxes and keys frequently, likely to avoid Franklins or a lobby dodge. There's no physical way to get Franklins in time.
- You essentially said 'killers aren't the power role, but tumpty tumpty tumpty they are the power role'.
- Shrug. Much like you can get a 4 man Blendette SWF with object, 3 tricked out toolboxes and a key.
- That's just silly. Of course having a key is exacerbated by being skilled - as you can almost be sure you'll survive.

If your wanting to have an easy to play killer on those days where you don't want to really think then choose Freddy.
For me he's my go-to when it comes to challenges since he's not that tough to play. It's really nice being able to do extremely well while not really thinking, kind of like survivor at times.
Perk wise his aren't the best but from the list you've chosen I don't think there's any real amazing perks there bar Thrilling Tremors.
I've tried Freddy a few times now. He is decent, but I find that if I need a 'do well' killer, I default to Doctor or Hag.
No idea why, but my Doctor games almost always go brilliantly. That red stain addon just flummoxes people.

Survivors tend to DC because:
Having sub-par teammates
Someone suicided on hook/DC’d
Killer is using notoriously unfun add ons (Iri Head, Swing chains+jump rope etc)
Killer playstyle (camping, tunnelling, slugging)
Killer brought a suspected mori
Certain killers (God Nurse, Freddy, Spirit)
Not condoning DC’s but they are the most common reasons why they happen
And yet the vast majority of DCs I've seen have been a survivor just before they die on hook. No matter whether I'm playing Wraith, Hag, Spirit or Doc, this is by far the most common.
Although I get way more DCs on Doc than any other killer.

I don't get the term as when it applies to Spirit. I get it if the Spirit is just facecamping or something but otherwise imo she takes some skill, even if not as much as others. Just an interesting note I got from a salty survivor.

Someone of moderate skill solo? You will do well.
A smurfcomp SWF who know how to perfectly juke and evade her? You'd be better off with someone who can instadown.

Also I think you better choose some chilling game if you want to relax after stressful day. Like Witness or some different chill indie for example. Just an advice.
It depends.

Yeah can't say I care about keys, I might bring franklin's or a mori if I see one just to try and counter it, but if all four key out I can queue again for another game and forget all about the last game. That's the great thing about it being a game.
I think its a shame that you don't bring keys anymore because of the forums, it means the cry babies are having an effect on the gaming community and that is never good.
Shrug - on the internet, all feedback is crying, unless you personally agree with it.
Keys are just frustrating, much in the same way higher tier Moris are. And forget Franklins, I can't think of the last time someone used a key and didn't pick it at the final millisecond.
If I see one, I'll dodge. If you cheat and pick it at the last second (ditto triple toolbox) and I'm playing one of my weaker killers, I'll just duck the match. No harm, no foul, you can find another killer.

@TheButcher6641 said:
Camping is a tactic. It is fair and an allowed tactic. It might not feel that way for a hooked survivor because it will be make harder to escape for sure but it is 100% fair. Whatever kind of camping you do is alright. It is your tactic to winning the game. You might want to face-camp to be sure your prey does not escape. You might want to patrol the area to ensure that no survivors approach your prey. You might want to hide and ambush other survivors attempting to rescue your prey or you might want to abandon your prey entirely and look for fresh meat. Whichever works for you. I have camped in various different ways when necessary and in turn when I am camped I don't hold a grudge. People should accept camping and not be salty when camped. Think about it. If you were an obsessive and rage-induced murderer, would you leave your victim unattended while you walk away.
I find facecamping to be a massively bad decision in nearly every match. The only time I'll do it is if someone has a tricked out lunchbox or a key, and even then I'm going to be patrolling nearby gens to a degree.
Generally what happens is that one person will try to bait me, I'll chase a bit, double back and if I don't find someone else trying to unhook, they've got 4 gens at 99% and that's the only kill I get.
However - teabag or flash spam me once, and you are never leaving that basement.
-
@MeltingPenguins said:
The whole idea behind survivors being able to struggle and unhook each other is to keep up their hope of survival, right? So, if a killer is actively taking this hope away from denying the survivors the chance... wouldn't that go against what the entity brought them into the fog for?
Short answer: tactics.
Long answer: Unless you are talking about blatant troll/facecamping before the final gen, these things are done for a reason that make sense ingame.
- Slugging is done to do push someone away/chase someone/do something else without wasting endless time hooking. Or it's done because you ran to a spot without any nearby hooks.
- Camping is a way to force the game to center in on more favorable terrain.
- Tunneling is simply a way to eliminate someone dangerous as soon as possible, or (let's face it) killing that guy that ran into you after he was unhooked.
-
@behave_pt said:
lets be honest how many survivors actually use keys and how many killers bring moris.
Killers can play "scummy" at will they have perks and addons that give them exposed aura reading and even mori capabilities on top of the fact that they have a power. Also there is this thing called franklins that is really good to run if you dont even want to deal with items. Survivors can either prioritize gens, become a looping god during the match or get lucky with a key. Gens is the most practical boring and unfun strat to get a win but it doesn't mean that a gens before friends survivor will live.
Also killers can play around someone with a key so that if anything they are the only ones to escape since they have to do a certain amount of gens based on how many people are alive. I've played like this and ended with a 3k and that is completely acceptable because im not too hard up about 1 person escaping the trial anyways.
Bringing a key does not confirm anything and is only useful mid to late game and chances barely increase if you are highly skilled. If you are a competent killer a mori grantees you a kill early game and at that point the match is over if they dont have a key. Also I dont mind keys because escaping a trial for survivors is 5000+ points by itself. Its kind of unfair how important that is to your score and whether you pip or not to be fair. Its the most points either role can get for a single action and it is very unlikely to happen on a regular basis.
I wouldn't say that killers have the "power role" but they are definitely more in control of how a match goes than people think but this is completely based on the skill of the player so regardless of which term you use it still means you are a bad killer if it seems like things dont go your way often. I have a feeling that killers complaining the most are probably wraith or trapper mains because I've never seen a nurse or spirit main leave the game in some farewell post on these forums.
I've always said that the strongest killer is better than the strongest group of survivors.
Woof, where to start here.
Firstly, this should be called 'Whataboutism: A Thread'.
Secondly, survivors that use keys generally grab them the second the game is about to start, so forget Franklins.
Thirdly, killers are absolutely not in the power role. Unless they are a 1000+ hour monster with all the meta perks unlocked, the killer is going to struggle if even one survivor is decked out. And that's taking SWF out of the equation.
Fourthly: Highly skilled...whaaa?
Finally: Strongest killer vs strongest survivors...give some tourneys a watch and get back to me.
-
I miss them already - I didn't have to essentially facecheck every gen. Ah well, nothing gold can stay I guess.

I personally, thought that this was very funny in a way because of how upset people get over games. I would post the video on like, YouTube. However I don't know how to edit out the persons name and snapchat.
Honestly, I'm less concerned with what survivors say (especially now that I've disabled chat entirely) and more what they do.

I kinda do this often where I hook a survivor and go for another survivor but sometimes I drop the chase because I know that someone was near the hook so I go back and look for them. Is this considered camping? I kinda felt guilty after the match lmao
Frankly, who cares?
People will accuse you of camping because:
- Someone ran directly past you to unhook and you killed them.
- Someone was trying to flashlight save and you caught them after you hooked.
- Someone ran directly off hook right into you and got smacked.
- You patrolled back past the hook because you saw marks and caught someone.
It's like tunneling. It's just a word to describe a tactical play to remove a high threat target ASAP.
You play how you want. Forget any sort of 'code' and remember - it's way easier to be charitable when you are winning, and that survivors will never extend you the same courtesies that they expect you to extend.

I think I just had my most frustrating one. I'm playing my boy Mikey on Blood Lodge. I have a beautiful three gen situation around the main building. Three survivors left. Two on death hook. I'm running my usual pop. I down Nancy, and have a bit of a walk to the nearest hook. Low and behold when I get to it I cannot hook her.
Thanks to that she wriggles free. I chase her down again, get her on the hook, and just as I hook her that last gen I was hoping to pop with her hook goes. A potential 4k turned into a 2k thanks to that damn glitch!!!
I think it's a console thing. Have had a few difficult hangs, but haven't yet lost a hook to it.

This is a known hack multiple big streamers have been hit with over the laat few months. Nothing you can do without video. They can do gens instantly, heal infinitely, hook and unhook themselves, permanently blind you. Not hard to find videos of it happening to high profile streamers
Otz has a brilliant one where they run right through the exit gate.

Split down the middle on who to buy; any suggestions?
Already have every other shard killer except these two.
Blight. He is pretty strong and has at least 1 god tier teachable.
Doc is amazingly fun but certain maps are an utter misery.

. . . That you had become a Killer main.
It happened so gradually for me that one day I just woke up and realized that I wasn't playing Survivor any more (or very rarely - mostly for Rift tasks / Dailys) and that I had in fact become a Killer main.
It took about 2 years but I guess all the salt gradually morphed me into a Killer main.
I came into this game wanting nothing to do with playing Survivor.
While life as a killer is a little rough right now, I enjoy it about 15% more than I'm frustrated by it.

75% could be a bit of a stretch?
So you compromised your integrity to spite their immaturity, then... possibly becoming equally immature in the process by choosing the path of wrath and enacting your vengeance.
Haven’t you ever watched the movie Se7en?
The ending of that film has a metaphor for life that we should always live by:
”Vengeance is Mine, saith the LORD;
I will repay.” Romans 12:19
Don’t let jerks and their actions cause you to fall prey to the detriment of their own unfortunate demise. They’ll get what’s coming to them.
The back and forth toxicity will never end when we all continue to be participants in it, srsly. We’ll all only be complaining to each other about what toxic behaviors we’ve chosen to be a part of, ourselves, on our own side.
I’ve seen it so much now, from both sides, I‘m compelled to react, but end up jus being like, “meh, spoiled children” an go about my business on whatever side I play.
Realistically tho, in horror movies like DBD is based from, killers really do camp, kebab an watch survivors take their last breath.
Not many movies where survivors are taunting the killer instead of sprinting directly out the doorway to freedom... the ones that do attempt to jest are those token survivors who end up dead.
It’s all a choice.
That being said, it feels good to be in your “25th percentile”
I prefer a much more succinct phrase:
"Mess with the bull, you get the horns".

Or or or, and I'm just throwing this out there, they were actually friends with a newer player.
Admittedly, OPs lobby was a smurfing group, but Ive been in this situation to introduce new players. I've introduced a few of my friends to this game in the last year, and it's nice to have a few red ranks around to ensure they get through relatively unscathed. Dbd is bad enough as it is, imagine being a new player trying to figure out the ropes, and depending on a Rank 20 blendette to save you? I want my friends to enjoy it and stay, not rage quit after 3 games.
Yall always assume the worst.
In which case, you are going to roflstomp a new killer.

I love seeing a Jeff. Such a big, appealing target :).

If Hag would be as common as Spirit or Deathslinger, you would see the same complaints. Which are also reasonable. But luckily, Hag is also not fun to play for many people, so she is rare.
While the Killers you named dont have reasonable counterplay, I take those over a Hag every time. In fact, the counterplay against Hag is to have Urban Evasion or a Flashlight, which is eh. (And meanwhile, a Team with Flashlights and Urban Evasion could demolish a Hag simply because they have those Perks and Items... Hags Power is not really the pinnacle of game design)
Try sneaking about more. If you don't trigger her traps, she is utterly useless.
If you trigger a trap, about half the time you can avoid her slash unless you are facing someone with 10ms ping and god tier twitch reflexes.
