Just had 2 games in a row where the last 2 survivors just jumped in the hatch infront of me while all i could do was to stand and watch because of a key
First game they bringed in a key but i didnt see it at lobby so i was suprised by them opening the hatch but fair enough
Second game made a 3 gen as blight killed 2 of them 1 of them found a key in chest and the hatch spawned right next to them
after that last game i finally realized why people tunnel and bring moris because the game forces you to do this or you just get bullied and "outplayed by a key spawning in a chest "
But atleast the killers are the power role right?
If I see one key, someone is getting tunneled.
If I see two keys, I'll run Franklins and watch people DC.
If I don't have Franklins on that killer, I dodge the lobby.

It can be. Its just part of the game.
Like knowing when to drop a chase because the guy your on is in strong spot and will likely loop you for several gens. At no point does the looping guy stop and say we've looped this enough lets run toi the next thing for more fun. You as killer have to force them off the loop, just as a coordinated team can bait a killer away from a hook.
It's not the most effecient tactic but it has its place like everything else. Especially against overly alturistic teams.
Best game today was a three basement hook killer shack lockdown with trapper.
Yeah, I'm not an especially good chaser. Which is why I prefer less sweaty, more tactical killers like Hag, Doctor and Wraith. I tend to pick a three gen position right off the bat and defend it while patrolling out when it feels safe. I tend to drop a lot of chases after one hit and focus more on disruption and attrition. Doing decently off it too, and the reactions of people when I just won't commit to a chase warm my heart.

She doesn’t need to be butchered. Tweaked, so she’s not so awful, and for Hag players not he awful to go against flashlights.
I'm still cautious. I really like her as is, warts and all.
Weirdly, I'm always drawn to less popular killers/characters in games (call me a snowflake) - due to how unique they can be. Wraith, Hag, Legion and Doctor in particular (although two of them require me to farm addons using other killers...Wraith in particular). Keep trying to learn Plague...but it's not going well.

These are all good reasons not to do some of the things on the list and when to do some of them, but none of them are reasons to tell someone else not to do them. Like I said play how you want to play. There is no rule book anything goes until death or escape.
I find tactical camping to be an invaluable tool. Not standing next to someone and waiting for them to die, but trying to bait survivors into engaging away from areas that they are strong.
I'm still very much an intermediate killer, but wow - has this been useful, especially against SWF teams who tend to be overly altruistic at times.

I mean fun for the other is kinda also fun for you no? because if the other is not having fun then they just dont try anymore and the entire thing is a waste of time.
But my message goes both ways, I know that when im leveling a character and I happen to pretty much only have meta type perks from the bloodweb, I know that many things I got away with were because the perk carried me, the perk did that for me, that was not me in the slightest so even when I escape or make others escape its just very much with the knowledge that that was just cheap nonsense.
Survivors running full small pp sweatlord meta builds, again I dont understand the mindset because they should realize that they dont ackomplish anything when the escape, but sometimes I think that that is there point, that the game is broken and killers dont stand a chance against such teams.
But its all a bit of a nothing burger again because not that many people play at that level that its really a problem and when you do encounter one, well, idk about you but I just start memeing because any notion of serious play was out the window from the start.
Same as a killer bringing their ebony mori.
Moris are like keys, and I do genuinely avoid using them unless it's evident from the outset that I'm facing a smurfcomp or stompcomp. Or I get one of those annoying quests that essentially require them (the Obsession one...yeah, sorry about those games everyone).
I'd be happy to see both go, if the Mori quests go with them.

They may have had it fixed in the past, but after reading this thread today I started tracking my gal's matches. She recently got to Rank 12. She played 17 matches today... of those 12 of them had multiple Red and Purple Rank and always one or two strange level 15-20 which could only be explained by the fact they all loaded into the Lobby at the same time. So either there is this unprecedented (I've never seen this before) MENTORING program where Red Rank Survivors collect 1-2 Potatoes to train them.... OR... the SWF is being put together on purpose so that those Red Ranks pull a weaker Ranked Killer.
I'm seeing a lot right now. This seems extremely popular when it comes to streamers from other countries. Not going to be more specific, but there is definitely a pattern - which makes me think there is a forum somewhere where they are putting these horrors together.

This is why I think Hag needs a review.
She’s completely miserable to go against without Urban or a flashlight, but I’ll also agree that flashlights are far too strong a counter for her.
She swings to 1 one of either 2 polar opposites. Impossible and miserable, or completely neutered.
I'm hesitant to let the BHVR butchers at my favorite killer. As it stands, she is just insanely fun to play - intuitive, but a surprisingly high skill ceiling.
She is strong, doesn't have many weak maps and adds a bit of unpredictability and suspense without being Spirit. She also has several effective counterplays that weirdly, not even high level players seem to use (especially the simple act of crouching over traps).
-
@Zaitsev said:
Hon, have you heard of Hag?
Hags been the queen of camping and tunnelling since her release.
Sure if you prepare a build to counter her, with a flashlight and Urban Evasion, its easy.
If you dont have one or two of those things, every game against Hag is boring and unfun.
At least Spirit and Deathslinger offer an interactive chase.
I don't think Hag is that bad. A single diligent survivor with a flashlight can make my life a misery and if two get them, I'm almost certainly going to get skunked.
The trick to beating her, aside from flashlights is to stealth as much as possible. So few teams seem to realize that you can just buttscoot over her traps - and the ones that do tend to crush me.
She's high tier, but compared to some of the things Nurse or Spirit can do, she isn't a monster.
That all said, the upper tier killers feel okay right now. I don't think anyone needs a nerf. Even Spirit and Nurse have some pretty solid counterplays, watching videos of the better killer players.

Sigh this discussion again?
The devs are pretty fortunate there are so many players who still play the game to have fun and to ACTUALLY win, if all killers would just suddenly turn to camping/tunneling/noed/mori this game would just die and technically there is nothing really preventing that from happening other then...well the people who want to play for fun.
What value is there in taking candy from a baby? what did you ackomplish? what victory is there to be had? oh right...nothing.
Its the same with survivors demanding it to be easer to pip about a year or so ago, it directly deminishes the value of a pip or of rank.
You can cheat in a game and win, congrats? you can also play seriously and not literally use everything to give yourself the edge and the more you do not use, the greater the victory when you end up doing well.
and apart from all of that...what is fun about just standing there and waiting for people to come to you, each their own sure but I dont see how this motivates anyone to keep playing.
The issue is that survivors do not seem to care about the fun of the killer, while the killer is expected to care about the fun of the survivors. And BHVR seem to support this mindset, which is why they got rid of both killer matchmaking and SWF/smurf protection for some reason.
And no, that's not the sort of camping I'm talking about - unless it's a Blendette with a toolbox or a key.
When people accuse me of 'camping' it's because I'm patrolling a path that takes me past a hooked survivor at some point. Why wouldn't I? I can force chases to happen where I want and not lose 3 gens without even seeing a survivor, because they are a premade and have a permanent lookout/object.

If you want to go at it from that angle:
- Survivors get 2 lives each (totalling 8 - the last 1 each dont count because its their final life)
- Killers get 16 lives
This is going to end up as semantic quibbling, isn't it :) ?

That's not what he said in that video...he said both killers AND survivors followed this honor code. Survivors wouldn't use op crappy perks and neither would killer. It wasn't just killers following the rule.
Yes. But as things stand, killers are still expected to adhere to this 'code' while survivors aren't. I could probably have explained my point better.

(This is a post that's been updated and moved from the PTB archives, because I still believe in this posts' validity)
Much like The Hag's aura reading ability upon a survivor triggering a trap, the Killer Instinct effect for Pyramid Head should be an add-on only effect. Scarlet Egg, Misty Day..., and Leopard-Print Fabric should all add onto his power the Killer Instinct effect (instead of simply elongating base duration). The Hag's case is the best comparison, but The Nightmare's alternate pallet power also gets my point across to a lesser degree.
This aspect of Pyramid Head's power is like if Trapper had Killer Instinct on survivors that disarmed traps or if The Hag had Killer Instinct on survivors that triggered traps. These effects wouldn't add much to the killer and would prevent the power from having any add-ons that granted aura reading to the killer instead. The Trapper should have an add-on that shows the auras of survivors that disarm his traps, but this post is about how Pyramid Head's add-ons that elongate Killer Instinct should instead grant aura reading on survivors (like the mirror pieces Myers has). His base Killer Instinct should be removed and replaced with either nothing or a loud noise notification.
No. PH is absolutely fine at present. People seem to have learned to juke his shots, much the same as they would a Huntress or Deathslinger.

Killers are self serving and want to inflict pain. If they sit in front of a hook watching someone hang all match, they’re denying themselves that pleasure to any real extent. Furthermore, if they only target the rescued survivor, then they’re limiting their spread of agony and terror. No killer wants to see 75% of their potential victims escape unscathed!
Moris are a sweet treat, but wasted if the survivor doesn’t get to develop a sense of true dread first. They should go through the agony of 2 hooks and at least 4 attacks first!
NOED is fine.
Am I? When I do find myself camping (never face, always patrol or proxy) it's not to do with the pleasure of killing that survivor (unless it's some dumb daily or quest) - the idea is either to remove something like a souped up toolbox, an Object or simply someone who I consider a high priority kill.
However, the main purpose isn't usually to kill them. It's to draw multiple players to an area of the map where hopefully I have more favorable terrain, or can easily patrol generators. Especially in games where the survivors are sneaking around in bushes all game.

And I've seen it go the opposite way, especially when I first started. Rank 20 survivor at the time, one friend was busting his way to rank 1, the others were like 16 and 14. Rank 1, 2, and 3 killers, oh joy. And look at who dies first? The person who is trying the game out.
I haven't seen a higher rank killer until recently and feel so bad for the rank 13 to 20 killers cause the guys I play with are really good at the whole misleading thing and I learned to just hide. Or play decoy until I can find a friend to lead the killer to (I'm not allowed to use bond or empathy anymore.... and I find them better now)
Were you grouping up with higher level friends? Because it should be impossible for a new survivor (below rank 15) to get a high level killer, unless you were playing at a time of day where nobody else is.
-
@Babyyy_Boyy said:
Aside from playing Hag and Trapper, Why is this perk so annoying to killers? A lot of killers say that it’s broken in a SWF because the user can make call outs but in a SWF even without the perk the whole team will make call outs, that’s the point of comms. I personally don’t mind it when playing Killer because I like to see how the survivor performs in chase with it and I’ll feel good knowing that I outplayed them at some point of the chase. I actually use Object Of Obsession in solo que more than anything because if the killer decides to go for you, you can improve on your chases. I also use it because 80% of the time my teammates don’t do well in chases so it can buy time if the killer goes for you.
This is an odd one.
In isolation, it's fine. It's a high risk/high reward item at an individual level.
However, when dropped into a 4 man SWF, you've got a very minor risk with a massive reward, as your party will essentially know where the killer is at all times.

Nah, I definitely get low rank killers more regularly when I queue up with my brother who doesn't play as much. MM definitely takes into account the lower rank people in your SWF as well.
Yeah. There seems to be special protections for survivors of lower ranks to ensure they get a killer of similar ranks.
The problem is that there was a system to stop SWF groups from exploiting this, which was quietly removed.

To be honest, it's a fair point.
Lets make some rules for survivors too...
1. Gens cannot be completed within 60 seconds of each other
2. Each survivor must get in a chase at least once per game
3. You can't drop a pallet more than 3 times per chase
You break any of those rules and you are a toxic survivor.
Might give them a go myself tomorrow, see how the games play out. Not well, I assume 🤣
Yes to 1. 2 would be nice but I'd rather see some sort of aura reveal if you hide for too long. 3...break all the pallets you want. Gives me points and most of the killers I play can laugh at pallets.

Well I use Knock Out (ever since I learned that when you get hit with it as a Survivor it makes your screen go dark and muffles your audio, and I think that's cool), so sometimes if I slug I also forget where they are/they crawl around. Had one game where two guys bled to death because of that.
I suppose typical slugging isn't bad.
Argh, yes. I swear, at least once or twice a day I have that - where I can't find the slugs and they just bleed out. It's like 'sorry, mate. I was going to hook you but you wanted to die in a bush'.
I wish killers had a close range Deerstalker baseline. I often end up being unintentionally toxic because I just can't find people.

- Survivors cussing me out for trying to let them farm on a bad game (the next game).
- A pair of blendettes who decided to play hide and seek for 90 minutes rather than doing gens. I would have let them have the game as they had 2 DCs, but they decided to be salty.
- High ranked players queueing with a 20 to pull off a smurfcomp.

Shrug. I'll play honorably in games where people are acting in a way that deserves it. If somoneone DCs, or if it's been a fun game I'm happy to give the last survivor hatch or gate.
Thing is - it's easy to be charitable once you are winning.

I've found that using a TR suppressing Instadown Killer (Ghostface), with Make Your Choice, and Hex: Devour Hope, gives me enough reason not to camp since I can just as easily utilize these Perks and my Ability to make Tunneling/Camping net neutral for me, if not net Negative. (Though I will run back to the Hook with no TR to down/hook the person that's exposed if I'm not already in a chase/marking another Survivor)
But yeah, if Gens go fast (more than 1 Gen per Hook), I tunnel/slug. If they don't, I don't.(Mainly happens on Killers I'm unfamiliar with)
I don't even see how tactical slugging or tunneling is a toxic. If someone is running around with a toolbox or a key, damn right I'm eliminating them asap just makes sense. If you don't want to be a target, don't make yourself one.
Facecamping - yes. That is somewhat toxic. But at this point, I'm not above doing it if I'm getting skunked.

I try not to do any of those things, because a win feels much more satisfying when I don't mori, tunnel, or camp. I also like coming out of a match knowing people had some fun. However, if people tell you not to do any of those things, they are worse than the tunnnelers/campers themselves, nobody should tell you how to play and abide by secret rules.
I used to be this way, I really did. It feels like the killer should be there to facilitate a fun game, keep things moving and give the survivors some good scares and thrills.
Thing is - survivors don't seem to want this. They just want to win. And so...yeah. That seems to be the game now.

Yup. Also, these kinds of scummy tactics have been going on for a while now, noticed this esp when I was yellow-green as killer. I don't come across these smurf teams as killer anymore, due to being red ranks. There's never rank 13-20 survivors in my matches, swf or not.
I play mostly solo, but played a few games with a low rank friend last week...and guess what...we got killers that were close to their rank, instead of mine. It felt like I was bullying baby killers and it wasn't cool.
I wish bhvr would revert this change and match accordingly to the highest ranked survivor again
Amen.
As things stand, I've gutted it out to the point where I can sometimes hold my own. On the right map. With Hag.
That said, it was a miserable slog to get the right perks and I eventually had to turn off chat and messaging entirely.

Do you think a mass exodus of killers would be good for the game, or not?

The sad thing is that I really enjoy the game. When I get a few good games in a row, win or lose, I want to play more.
When I get one of these groups (they are always BM as hell on top of it) I don't want to play anymore. Getting creamed in a game where you had absolutely no chance and then getting mocked for it...yeah. There is only so far a thick skin will take you.

It was an SWF. We had it out in postgame, and they explained it (while mocking me). Apparently they were doing it for a stream.
You can find several other threads today with the exact same pattern. Thanks to the current lack of DC penalties, it's easy for someone to deliberately drop their rank on an alt account to pull this off.

Is it?
People constantly call for Freddy, Spirit, Hag and the like to get nerfed - and BHVR seems to listen to these complaints far more actively than when something is blatantly imbalanced on the survivor side of things (remember instant blinds?).
It's also not just the perks. It's what happens when SWF group stack these perks strategically, along with something like OoO to create nearly unwinnable games. I recall a recent Otz game where even he couldn't identify any mistakes in his play, but still had all 4 escape.

As far as I know the intended behavior (matchmaking based on the highest rank in the party) was never changed, it's quite simply not working properly... like with matchmaking in general at times. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it kinda seems like you're implying the devs intentionally removed the highest-rank-matchmaking change which I highly doubt is the case.
With how messy matchmaking can get at this point the best thing to do is probably to hope MMR matchmaking works better once it's put back into use. Both for general match quality and adherence to the highest-rank-matchmaking rule for parties.
They did remove it, along with killer matchmaking protections. I'll have to dig up my old thread, by they confirmed it there.
I assume it was due to SWF groups getting long queue times trying to find them a suitable killer.

I don´t think this is the way. Yes, SWF play with 10+ perks basically, but please bear in mind that it is paramound that Survivor gameplay is fun too. If you take Survivor tools away for the sake of nerfing them we might see a reappearance of lobby hopping to avoid the repercussions.
I think buffing solo is better than nerfing swf.
Give killers their matchmaking protections back and this problem will resolve itself.

But no again
And after every one is pissed because only has SWF in their games ( because is IMPOSSIBLE 95% of the time play with random teamates you will always loose)
So what its your sujestion to make solo queue good
Ps - Just dont say nothing because solo queue is so ######### that you know when someone says ow if you dont like you dont play, like i literally just play with SWF and sometimes i want to play but my friends dont so
I want to play solo queue but at the same time dont wanna to become extress
BHVR decided to drop SWF onto a game that was clearly not built for it, then went further by removing the protections against smurfcomps rolling new killers...I assume because people complained about the slightly longer queue times.
Right now, it's an arms race between killers and SWFs, where killers suddenly need a lot of mobility and chase potential to counter highly coordinated groups of survivors.
Of course, this leaves solo players in a rough position - because any help given to them is going to end up making SWF groups even stronger.
Before solo players get any help, BHVR needs to fix (and by fix I mean actually put back in) the various matchmaking systems they had to help killers get fair games. Otherwise it's going to get even more lopsided.

I've already seen a LOT of this to be honest. I just didn't realize there was an intent to play the system. The sooner SWF and Solo Que are split into different Ques, the better. I think it is unavoidable eventually as the problem just gets bigger every day.
Honestly, just bring back killer matchmaking protections and the anti smurfcomp thing they used to have. I don't care if it means longer queue times for these groups, it's going to mean better games all round.

I think the MM works more in favor of giving you a fast match instead of searching for a balanced one which might take some time.
Or you had just bad luck and after a good killer dodged this lobby you were the next in line for that group. Again, to cut down waiting times.
No, this is deliberate.
It's not just a bunch of buddies queueing up. It's a bunch of high rankers (often someone with a stream) abusing the current system (survivors have matchmaking protections, killers don't) to destroy lower ranked killers.
I made a thread about a similar issue a week or so ago and the devs admitted that they removed killer matchmaking protections completely.
Why do you think this is okay, exactly?

So that is why I keep seeing this? I wondered; I knew it HAD to be a SWF due to the mix of Ranks, but it didn't occur to me that they do it on purpose to screw with matchmaking.
There were systems in place to stop this for a while. The matchmaker would try to ensure that an SWF faced a killer of a similar rank to the highest ranked person in the premade. Not the lowest (which seems to be the case for solo survivors).
They quietly removed this system, and as people twig onto this, you are going to see more and more smurfcomps.

believe that there is no need to point out that the match making of this game is simply HORRIBLE.
I’m rank 15, I started playing 1 week ago, and I fell with a player with the following ranks: rank 1, 2, 3, and they were calling.
I really think it’s not just me who think the game doesn’t care about match making, which is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!
I will not play anymore if I am going to fall with players who have been playing for much longer than me, and who have three times my skill.
You ran into a smurfcomp in game one. If 3 rank 1s queue up with a rank 12, they will get a rank 12 killer or below. Welcome to troll city. BHVR used to have protections against this but they deliberately removed them for...some reason.

MM on DbD has been like this for nearly a year now. They tried Skill Based MM (MMR) which faield hard, and we're back to this dumpster fire of MM. Honestly, it doesn't get any better, and it's exactly these situations people have complained about MM for months. It's not fair at all for new players because of this. The fact it's making you feel as though you want to leave only after a week should be alarm bells for the devs to actually get something done about it instead of focusing on map reworks and DLC's.
I made a similar thread a while back and a dev responded - there are no matchmaking protections for killers anymore, whatsoever.

yea well if this becomes a thing you can kiss queue times goodbye since you cant play swf and no one wants to play solo
Shrug - in which case, BHVR might actually put the old SWF protections against smurfcomps to get people queueing again.
Why did they take those away?

Heya guys!
I've been playing Dbd On PS4 again after a 1 1/2 month break & I'm just so frustrated. Again& again I've been paired against survivor groups, which were Rank 2, 4& 9,9 . How am I able to win this flashlight/ teabagging lot as a rank 16 baby nurse???? This has been going for every single killer match, where I played against SWF's groups over rank 9. This has been so frustrating that it robbed me of all the fun I had as killer.... And this issue didn't get fixed after all the other complaints... This makes me just sad...
This looks like a smurfcomp. Basically, if there is a low ranked survivor in game, the matchmaking attempts to find them a low ranked killer. SWF groups know that and got 1 player to drop their rank down to brown to roflstomp low ranked killers.
There used to be protections in place to prevent exactly this. But people complained about queue times and so BHVR removed it.
Another issue is that killers don't get this the other way. Matchmaking on the killer side of things, according to the devs, was also removed completely and it's unknown when or if they'll bring it back.

so literally no one can play with their friends because people just dodge swfs right, instead of the reasonal option of buff solo to swf and then buff killers accordingly
Get killers buffed and then we will talk.
Otherwise, my queues are instant and I'll pick and choose my lobbies.

I hear this excuse about SWF all the time, "the majority of SWF are just friends talking to each other" and that's fine, but don't tell me these groups don't also say things like "oh he's chasing me now beside xyz" and things of that nature while they're chatting because of course they are. I'm not saying get rid of SWF all I'm saying is this excuse of "mostly it's just friends chatting" is a poor excuse
Bingo. Even if the skill of the survivors is equal to that of the killer, SWF gives an incredible bonus regarding information and tactics. It's way harder to get someone to make a mistake when everyone knows exactly where you are at all times. And don't even get me started on OoO groups.

Man that Blendette mentality is strong. 90 minutes!?
The full game took almost 2 hours. I was not going to DC and give them a win.

Thought I had responded to you MONTHS ago, but I guess not :/
I'm in favor of A 100%.
I know I said in my OP I wouldn't ask for the devs to change her back, but I'm changing my mind. Devs, change her back. I know it won't happen, but I'm saying definitively what would be the best thing to do for the preservation of Nurse's fun factor.
I will say that even at intermediate ranks, survivors seem extremely well versed on how to juke and escape blinks.
Maybe lowering the duration of fatigue would be a good start. She still seems lethal at the higher end of things.

I really need to know what is his counter play. Because as far as I see you can go for a pallet/window and take a hit from his power or you can not take the pallet/window and take a m1 hit. I love playing killer but when I play survivor I wonder what Pyramid head counter play is.
From what I've seen thus far, it's kind of similar to Deathbringer or Huntress. Don't run in a straight line, don't charge them and be mindful when using pallets and windows.
