Is there a thought here you were trying to convey besides “Scoff, I escape all the time and I only play with meta perks”? I don’t get it.
The point is that right now, SWF has put killers in a rough spot where even tip-top killers struggle to do much against SWFs at a similar level, without endless supplies of top tier addons and a few killers - that survivors are also trying to get nerfed.
When last did you see a survivor main suggesting a weaker killer get buffed?

Check out michi as well, both amazing hag mains. Space coconut has the most traps set and triggered in dbd overall, and michi is up there as well. They are both on youtube, and @SpaceCoconut is on twitch and even our forums here as well.

I used to main hag back in 2018 before her rework up until recently when I stopped playing her, even I learned some stuff from these guids.
Thanks. I may give this a look, once I've burned through my Wraith addons and prestiged him. Likely the only prestige skin I've seen so far that I like.
Hag looks like a pasta monster.

Michi is hands down the best Hag I've ever seen - highly respectable european hag main.
@StarLost Pink needles don't instantly pick up downed survivors (I think it'll still take 16 seconds if used on someone who is already down). For the People perk is instant though at the cost of breaking the person who uses it and injuring them
Ah...it may well be that. Because I downed them, turned to try and hit the guy behind me and boom, they were off through the gates. Oh, I must show you game 3. 2 Rank 1s and one rank 16 smurf in a group together. He had a bonkers toolbox (even using the ultra rare Wraith addon, I just couldn't keep up with him) but managed to kill the bugger out of sheer spite towards the end. They were completely clowning on me.

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/8JYGENCGZ1BW/ftp.png
Ever since AHS got nerfed and can't do that anymore... It's much more bearable now than it used to be but admittedly still strong (probably wasn't in this match you played though)
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/J9K0TT1121FD/ahs.png
There was a time when you downed someone and someone came running by like a drive-by and put that person back to full health standing at the tap of a button and depleting a brown med kit. Resetting you back to the beginning of the game but without a gen or two... man do I feel like that old man talking about "walking uphill 6 miles to school in both directions"
Yes! It was that bloody pink syringe. Seen a few of those today and...yep, that explains it.
Also - for a laugh, decided to do one more match. This is what I saw:
Yes, that is 4 toolboxes.

Might I entice you to learn to play nurse if you are on PC? Learning nurse is an uphill battle, expect to lose, but it is so satisfying when your blinks are on point. There are still several OG nurses on the forums that have very good input.
Take a few days away from this game to reset. If you drink, pour yourself a drink, sit down, and get intimate with nurse LOL.
PS, your lady sounds amazing...any free time you have and she has should be spent together LOL ######### DBD or any other game!
Gave her a try. She is very strong, but also very buggy. Often ended up stuck inside a hill or unable to teleport through things.
It also feels like people have had years to learn how to perfectly juke her while I'm just starting to learn. Got her to the level where I could use her teachables and that was it. Not my favorite killer, although I can see how strong she could be in the right hands.
I much prefer someone less erratic. Hag is likely my stand in for her when I want hyper-mobility and Doctor when I just get sick of stealthers.

Gen alert perks are the key for me to always have something to do. Discordance, thrilling tremors, gearhead, or tinkerer should be on every killer imho. You always have something to do, and if you get a good 3 gen you usually can have a good advantage. But unsure of your levels
I've tried these, but all that happens is whoever has Spinechill or Object immediately tells me when I'm moving in and by the time I get there, they are waiting in the bushes or have moved on to the next gen. Or they've now split up.
I've started routinely tunneling down or yes, even camping Objects. It's just so cancerous to play against.
-
Also started with Billy, as per Otz's video. Ended up maining Hag (who I adore, despite being fairly terrible) and Doctor (who I inexplicably seem to do fairly well with). Really wanted to add a third killer to my roster (grabbed a bunch during the sale). Don't like 'big' killers so I tried Pig, who was fun but awful, Myers (the less said the better) and finally Wraith - who is actually pretty fun, despite being a BP sink for addons (I find him unplayable without the speed ones).
Tried PH but I just don't understand him, and people already seem crazily good at juking my shots and I don't understand the point of his cage.

I honestly think people improve faster when they're matched with opponents close to their own skill level. It's true that you want to have a challenge, but it needs to be a challenge that you could possibly succeed at. If the challenge is so hard that you have no chance, the difficulty level is too high to learn very much.

Bingo. It's difficult to get better when the people you are playing against are multiple levels of crazily strong, using tricked out addons and working in quite amazing coordination. It's like giving someone an advanced calculus text and telling them to 'learn math'.

This is why moris exist. All my games are bad too, 5-10 mins for a queue and then its gonna be a combination of map offerings, keys or Ooo.
What makes this batty is I have nearly instant queues. But the matches are all horrifically one sided and against players like these. I get skunked game after game until I hit lower yellow again, then I start crushing complete newcomers. Then it's back to the nightmare.

Let me know how that went and whether it was 3 toolboxes with BNPs and a medkit with Septic or just basic ole brown/yellow toolboxes and medkits (Which are far more likely even for SWFs) and perfectly fine even without Franklin's to me.
Crap, should have paid attention. I got stomped. They had something that instantly got people up from being downed (first time I've seen that one) and got all gens done before I even managed to hook. The second I tried to chase, someone immediately got back on the gen and once they had the gate open, they stood at exit teabagging until I just chased them out. Buttholes.
Gah.

The game is catered towards these people. That's an undeniable fact. Hence why any killers they don't like? - nerfed. Perks they don't like? nerfed. Meanwhile the BS maps they send you to remain unchanged, OoO remains unchanged.
If I get these teams I play as toxic as possible too. Your objective isn't to win, it's to suck the fun out of the game for them as much as they do for you. They come in so cocky tbagging with OoO and their Ormond offering then when you camp and tunnel them and hit them on hook it's hilarious watching them dc and rage post game like you were the bad guy. Some people have no self-awareness.
Ormond is one thing, but at least half the time I can 3 gen and maybe make something happen, if I'm not entirely outclassed.
Haddonfield on the other hand...
Also - sigh. This is what I'm dealing with. Decided to try a last game. On loading screen for this horror right now. Full 4 man, of course toolboxes pop out at the last second so I can't run Franklins.

Which killer do you main? Just curious, since you should try a new killer, I remember getting some advice around 4 months ago from @BigBrainMegMain to try a different killer, and I did, and it was so much fun. You should also practice your mindgames, and learn how to run certain tiles, and mindgame them to outplay your opponent.
Here's a video on how to run the generic tiles.
Usually Hag or Doctor. Trying to learn Wraith at present as (without everyone suddenly grabbing flashlights) he is extremely fun.
And yes, watched it. The thing is - I'm trying to learn, and it's difficult when you are facing people who not only seem to know the tiles, they also know the counterplay to the counterplay - and still find time to teabag and flashlight spam you along the way.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/173487/community-help-me-please/p1
I'm less concerned about rank (right now, I'm squarely where I belong). It's more that the people I'm facing are far more skilled, coordinated and often of a way higher rank than myself.
It's very difficult to have fun or learn the game when it's stomp after stomp after stomp - and yes, people mocking you after they do it really does get under your skin after a while.

Can I just add to this that at this point, Spark of Madness should be free on PC.
It's really ######### to get new friends into the game and be like "hey there's a perk that's really great for when you're learning BUT you need to spend 10 bucks to get it!"
There's enough DLC for people to pump money into, the survivor with training wheels doesn't need ot be one of them.
(Shrug) - then they need to make Bubba free for killers, as BBQ is nigh on essential when you are starting out.
-
My biggest 'wut' change was the developers quietly removing both killer matchmaking and the system that prevented high rank SWF groups from smurfstomping beginner killers.
What on earth were they thinking?
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
They should also make it so you can only camp for 45 seconds or else the hook gets sent to a different location.
Thing is - there are often reasons to be near a hook. If I hang you and see two survivors nosing around close by, I'm going to be hunting them. If there is a gen nearby, I'm going to pop it then patrol back to see if they've reemerged.
What you are essentially asking for is for unhooks to be safe by default and for killers to be penalized for playing tactically.
Aside from straight up facecamping...there is no reason to change this (unless you take a pretty heavy hit to gen repair speeds to compensate).

Shrug. Then they made a mistake. Your teammates are allowed to make mistakes that negatively impact the game (like all 4 trying to escape through the same door, which is Stoogetastic)

I'd also be happy to see it not work against grabs, or deactivate the second you enter a locker.

I would argue that it is the right way to go since it should have trickle down effects for overall game balance - same reason MOBAs like Dota and League balance in this manner.
The problem is that solo queues are directly denied information sharing of any kind - ingame chat, pings, preset text macros (If you want to avoid toxicity) while devs ignore that SWFs will usually run 3rd party voice chat while playing. That imbalance is what needs to be at least partially remedied in order for balancing in this manner to make sense - "Immersion" (the biggest argument against solo queues getting any form of commmunication) gets thrown out the window within the first 100 hours of gameplay anyway... just say the Archivist has begun to pity the survivors and helping them through psionics then. Consequently the Killers should then get buffed with the baseline assumption that all survivors can work together at a baseline level - outside of trying to mime directions with limited emotes.
The easiest solution to SWF would be to artificially inflate the MMR (or whatever metric DbD uses to match players) of people queuing together, increased proportionally to the number of people in the SWF group, and also to go back to the system where SWF groups would always face a killer based on the highest ranked person in the party, not the lowest.

And what is the source of this information? As far as I’m aware BHVR haven’t released any info on solo-SWF ratio recently.
Prima facie. Play a hundred+ games as killer (as I've done over the last 6 weeks) and you'll notice it quite quickly. The two most common variations I'm seeing in my terrible ranks are a 2-3 stack of red or high purples queuing with a deranked or smurf accoun or a 3-4 stack queuing with Object.
You can also observe Otz streams, where Object (which nearly always implies a premade) is so common he has just started to play around it.
-
@Customapple0 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1643948#Comment_1643948
Sure, if it’s a well coordinated SWF that’s on a competitive level, but for most, if not all of solo games that is not the case
Balancing perks based on coordinated SWF teams isn’t the right way to go.
Except that we've already crossed that Rubicon. Even at low/intermediate level, SWFs are the norm now, not the exception. And that's with the SWF smurfcomp protections removed (why?) and killer matchmaking removed (why?).
Either BHVR needs to balance around SWF, or offset matchmaking to ensure that the coordination bonus SWFs have is reflected in the opponents they are put up against.

Yes, even Pop. It was never necessary to change it from its original 30 seconds to begin with.
Cruel Limits though... I just don’t see 32m being much more helpful. It’s the activation conditions that are sucky. It’s funny. Before the Stranger Things chapter having a gen finished in my face was a common occurrence. Now it happens once in a blue moon, even less than that when I do give current Cruel Limits another chance.
It's more that a nerf to one of the few ways killers have of responding to survivors destroying gens at insane speeds, without some sort of tweaking elsewhere. It just leaves a bitter taste, especially as the patch notes don't mention anything about killer matchmaking being restored.
-
@OmegaXII said:
Well, shouldn't killer be rewarded for more if he is capable of downing people fast? Isn't that survivor's fault for getting downed within the duration of pop? Isn't it the same as DS, where killers are punished for being too good?
Not to mention there isn't always a gen nearby that has some progress to be regressed.
I honestly don't understand the reason behind it.
No, Pop is being nerfed because...uh...you know, I actually can't think of a reason. Killers, even at the higher end still run into games where survivors just knock down gens without any real way to respond. It's like - you all know we'd earn more BP and you'd still rank up if you actually gave me some chases, right?

Seriously though, the issue isn't the perk. The issue is how hard it negates stealth killers, especially 'looky' killers like Myers and Ghostface.

A lot of naysayers and there's-counterplay-ers here, but I agree with the OP. Super strong perk. Little downside. Makes stealth killers much, much weaker. Like many of the most hated perks (OoO, DS, Unb, DH), yeah it's not so bad if one person has them but when 3 or 4 players are just immersing and doing gens, it bogs the game down so much. No chases. No interaction. Just boring AF.
The best thing the Devs could do is force survivors to run different perks, but that sadly will never happen.
Literally just had one. 3 players with it. All splitting up and doing gens. Ended up having to camp someone on gates just to get a kill. The second I got close (on wraith) they were already somewhere off in the bushes.

I also luckily rarely had run ins with blantent hackers probably less than 10 over years and thousands of hours of gameplay. Unfortunately, I also know that people are discreetly hacking and probably not being noticed as well since when I'm playing survivor I've watched 105% or 110% survivors running alongside of me and just gaining distance toward whatever they're running towards. Nothing like a "little crutch" to feel better about themselves by having permanent Hope-like effects all game but the Killer will still eventually down them so they're less likely to be reported (I would assume). I submitted that video with a ticket back in like 2018 but got no feedback from it to this day other than they are "looking into it". I'll assume that there are at least a dozen more cases that go unnoticed per player though
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1643811#Comment_1643811
Being able to see the killer in lobby is a known exploit at the moment just by a viewing an unencrypted DBD file while sitting in lobby... apparently they tried to fix it by encrypting it when the match finishes but for whatever reason the file is still viewable while in lobby and the match is ongoing (according to another user on these forums). Probably should be addressed but most folks aren't in the know... for now.
Bugger. I thought that they'd fixed that way. Sigh, well that explains a lot.

I've run into a couple (and after a bit of research, I even know exactly what they are using...yikes).
Basically - resetting or manually adjusting ranks, infinity top tier addons and items, clipping through exit games and being able to see the killer in the lobby (possibly).

But here's what does. Other players tend to side with the 'offender' (in lack of better words) and tell me to chill whenever I call them out. How descensitized are we really? This type of language should never be ok. But somehow, I'm the crazy person.

This is the one thing I never understood the complaints about.
The most common complaint i hear is that it's boring. But what difference is there between hanging on a hook and lying on the ground? Except that when being hooked your one step closer to be out of the game.
It's a great way for killers to apply pressure to survivors and unlike tunneling doesn't end the game of one of the survivors in a couple of minutes.
To my experience matches against slugging killers tend to last decently long with everybody having a chance to interact with the killer.
So why is his hated again?
I think a lot of it is:
- People watching Tofu and Otz, who tend to have a complete teamkill as their winstate. If you are a tip top killer and confident enough in your chase and map knowledge, you can slug to win quite quickly. However, when someone else tries this it can be sort of toxic, as it just turns the game into mud.
- Survivors love to run to areas with no hooks, meaning that once I down them I'm not able to hook them. And since they are in an odd part of the map and I'm probably chasing the others now, they may bleed out or be down for a long time.
- Survivors crawling into difficult to find locations does actually mean that I'm going to ignore them and go take out their teammates. If you want to do this, don't complain when it backfires and nobody finds you.

Now that we seem to be past the Interaction ("Hook") Bug, I'm having a lot more fun playing killer again. Even considering mixing it up and trying to improve at some of the killers I hardly ever play.
Now if we could just do something about the other hook bug that allows dying survivors to crawl under their hooked teammates... Like letting me drag 'em back out into the open by their ankles.
There are a couple of these, especially on Farm. Survivors can crawl into the 'V' between objects and you can't pick them up.

Sure i can adapt and just chase them and get stalk that way but the original purpose is to watch from the background and get free stalk when they arent paying attention. After i look at them with spine chill theyll start looking around see me and run away. Its kinda like a handhold for something they should know by now.
It's also not a rare perk. In my last 8 games, at least 2 people are running it. Quite frustrating when you are trying to learn/level Ghostface.

Define "Toxic"
I'm not even kidding. I've seen people consider game mechanics toxic, so I think it's a valid question.
Oh brother:
- Being a gigantic prolapsed anus in postgame, despite winning handily. Constant flashlight spam and teabagging. Deliberately stalling out the game to play hide and seek if you start winning. Just truly poor sportsmanship.
- Full SWF smurfcomps with full meta perks and Object to crush lowbies.
- Genuinely abusive tactics, like switching out items and characters last second in the lobby to avoid the killer countering.
- Just really unpleasant to go up against.

"15) Be humble in victory. If you sit there spamming flashlights at me at the exit, rest assured that I'm probably going to be less kind to my next group."
This one is probably one you might revise... it's something I learned in other online games with massive toxicity like League of Legends and Dota but each match is a fresh game and a fresh group of people who haven't done anything yet. Toting baggage around from previous games each game isn't healthy for the game neither for your own mental health (though plenty of people do it). It's like the survivors who get farmed by a bad teammate in the previous game trying to sandbag a fresh group of random teammates in the next game as revenge.
P.S. caveat being if you don't get matched with the same person(s) again immediately
I'd love to see a comedic handbook like that, but aside from the 'boop the snoot' thing, I'm not sure how many I could come up with.
Regarding 15 - I'm trying to show how being nasty to the killer in one game can cause them to take it out on other players in future games. I'm not being 100% literal here.

Why bother loading a match to dc if you saw them in lobby? Would be more fun to bring a mori.
Because, as I said, they all switched at the absolute last second - assumedly to stop me from bringing Franklins, a Mori or just dodging the lobby.

The undetectable status effect was implemented solely due to the fact that object of obsession completely countered stealth killers. With the update that introduced this change, Spine Chill was actually buffed to work against Scratched Mirror Myers. This buff alone tells us that the devs most likely aren't going to change Spine Chill and frankly, I'm happy about that. With so many players complaining about having to play against DS, Unbreakable, Adrenaline, SB, etc. why would the devs make perks that aren't used as much weaker? If anything they should make more perks like Spine Chill so that the META can actually be shaken up a bit, something that countless players have been asking for for years.
By...completely boning some of the weakest killers in the game?

Trying to find a match as SWF is actually so broken now.
The game refuses to load you into lobbies together. It bugs out and either kicks you to the menu or leaves you there trying to find one with every other player experiencing different things on their perspectives. "I'm ready" "you're not" "no one is even in my lobby" "we're all ready on my screen". Etc etc
Well done devs, well done. Making your game ever so unplayable and infruriating with every update.
Not from where I'm standing. I've resorted to dodging lobbies now, because the last 4 I've had have been obvious SWF groups, all with multiple toolboxes and a key. And that's only after I got completely stunk twice in a row by smurfing red rankers queuing up with a deranked account to roll over lowbies like me.
I can only imagine how frustrated other killers are right now.

For me it is either super baby survivors dying in like 10 seconds because they don't even know how to drop pallets or people with borrowed time, iron will, dead hard, adrenalin, unbreakabill etc etc. with insta heal medkits and keys. Then 4 gens pop in like 3 mins. It has become just annoying and frustrating to play killer because there is so many things that has zero counter.
Like I am chasing dude for over a min and finally about to get him. Hit E then it makes it so he can get chased another 1 minute lets say I commit because 1 minute chase is already 3 gen pop. He uses his borrowed time medkit here we go again. What has this game become ? I can't play killer at all because of this bullshitery.
Watching people with 5k hours on game mega ultra killer mains etc even they fail against these teams EVEN though they make everything perfectly right. They gotta play the best killers just to have a CHANCE now these days.
I am waiting for the day where maybe any killer other than 5k hour streamers able to have fun wait a minute I just remembered even though they get 4kills they always complain how stressful and frustrating the game was. I don't even care about kills anymore just playing the game to get a hit has become frustrating because of all these perks and items that has zero counter. And of course some loops are just incredible that u have no other chance then hold W.
Short answer: Yes, with an if.
Long answer: No, with a but.
Essentially, I enjoy playing killer right now about 5% more than it frustrates me. Why they removed killer matchmaking and the old protections against getting smurfcomp after smurfcomp...well, I'd love to know.

Nothing much to this thread other than its getting near to two months since MMR got removed, and im starting to think we wont be getting it back till next chapter. (2021)
It's not MMR exactly. There are a few things at play here:
- The old protections against smurfcomps were removed. Now 3 red survivors can queue up with a smurf/deranked account (not hard to do thanks to DC penalty removal) at level 15 and be guaranteed a lowbie killer to stomp for the entertainment of their stream.
- Killer matchmaking was removed entirely. Meaning that it's entirely possible to get thrown to the wolves, game after game.
Why, you ask?
Well...that's a very good question. And I'm guessing it was survivors complaining about queue times.
Yes, I've just been bounced by two smurfing SWF premades in a row and yes, I'm salty about it.

Click your flashlight? that's a tunneling
Tbagging at a pallet? that's a tunneling
Popping a gen in front of the killer? that's a tunneling
Bringing object of obsession? oh you better believe that's a tunneling.
If I could give this all my upvotes I would.
Thanks for making me spit coffee out like the Plague.

this guy XD
well now its been a while since I talked about fallacies but if I were doing a "Because if you read the OP, he's doing a 'well killers are OP so keys are fine'. That's not a tu quoque fallacy its more like a strawman. That's not to say that I have an extremely logical and well structured argument in my op. Besides that now you are just becoming obnoxious You have reached the point where you are asking questions with very obvious answers as if you do not know them but to what end? It's almost as if you do not have any trust in anything I say whatsoever so you are in constant denial of any of my explanations as if im trying to trick you with completely false logic. You might even say that my op has a bit of Equivocation. Meanwhile everyone else is just adding to the discussion in a very decent way. idk some people just make me wonder sometimes
Oh man, now we are going to get into semantic quibbling and bickering about fallacies.
Tell you what, mate. You have fun.

There should be more perks like spine chill that buff a certain part of your kit while also giving valuable information at the right time AND still be counter able if the killer takes the right guess.
Better than: "Hey i just unhooked myself and got four protection layers around me, GG EZ."
If it didn't work against Undetectable, I'd be perfectly happy with it. As it stands, it makes weaker killers much much worse.

I'd personally say Wraith or Oni, they are both really fun (and Oni is pretty powerful once you get the hang of him).
I think Freddy is really boring on both ends, but he's very strong for how ridiculously easy he is to play. He may be the best killer for learning the ropes (and doing many of the Tome Challenges), but I hardly use him beyond challenges and rituals these days. If you already feel like a pretty decent killer player though, I'd pass over him for someone with a more entertaining power.
I don't like Ghost Face, but there's plenty of neat gameplay to work with there if you like Wraith (or Pig or Myers). More importantly, he has the perk I'm All Ears, which is really good on Pyramid Head. Plus Thrilling Tremors, which is nice.
Yeah doing Wraith first, then Ghosty.
My main gripe with both is that Spinechill counters them insanely hard, making for some very frustrating games.

Well, nobody said that it is overpowered, I just hope it doesn't become overpowered with his mobility.
It shouldn't. Keep in mind that this comes with a gigantic nerf nuke to his best addon.

Then you haven't been playing Blight nearly as much as you should to make that call. I've been playing Blight religiously for the last two weeks at red ranks and yes, against the god-tier tournament style SWF on a bad map, you get shafted, but as long as you play well enough to pressure 24/7, you'll be fine. I've had zero issue.
Uh...that's nearly every killer.
What makes a killer good is the ability to go up against those annoying SWF stompcomps on a bad map and still have a winnable game. And frankly, why not?
If we are going to have SWF, then the game should be balanced around it. And yes, that leaves solo players out in the cold - but right now, it's one or the other.
