I mean, the killer has a fairly consistent glitch that renders the game completely unplayable for a survivor unless the killer deliberately frees them. Obviously I don't know what happened in every instance you've seen people DCing, but you should expect even more DCs than usual with this PTB.
-
No no, it's just a fakeout, they'll drop the REAL FNAF trailer any second now...
-
This thread aged perfectly.
We won.
-
Except it's the opposite?
Pinhead hasn't even been announced yet, the hype for him will start back up when the PTB drops tomorrow. If anything, letting Pinhead info go live and THEN announcing the removal of ST would have been way more of a buzzkill.

The end of Hawkins here is a great reminder that every cloud has a silver lining.

I need to go research how sharing licenses work. Does bhvr have to pay x amount of dollars yearly to keep licenses and the holders can jack up the prices anytime?
That would seem like a dangerous gamble to me.
It's impossible for us peasants outside of the negotiating room to really know. But it's hard to believe BHVR would release a new Legendary for ST knowing that the content would have to pulled by the end of the year.
This is nothing but speculation, but my guess is that BHVR may have breached their contract with the botched Jonathan release, and that may have affected their ability to retain the license.

You've got three months to use them, "enjoy". Though I could barely imagine a DBD experience less enjoyable than hundreds of matches on Hawkins.
-
Where's that dancing crab video? It's just the thing for a time like this.
-
Why? It's a terrible map. I honestly feel like losing Nancy, Steve, and Demo is worth it to never to see that place ever again.
-
Only at 5, I think.
I haven't played much recently.

I can agree with that, I wish the lawsuit would end not only so Jason can be in DBD but so they can finish what they started with F13, that game had so much potential only to be throttled right in the middle of it going big
This myth needs to die. The F13 devs were already looking to wind down production and move on to newer projects, and were praying for a reason to drop the game by the time the lawsuit happened. They did not have that much more in store for the game by the time they got their excuse to call it quits.
-
I strongly disagree, but maybe we're looking at different characters. Besides Claudette, the only other Legacy piece I own his Dwight's torso and I do think that particular item looked slightly nicer before the update. But Claudette's Legacy head piece was just terrible looking before today. The colors were far too intense and you could barely even see her face. They absolutely needed to revisit it, and this newest update is enough of an improvement that I won't mind using that piece again. Nea had a similar issue where they went way overboard on the Legacy coating. I haven't seen hers yet, but I imagine the new changes go a long way with Nea as well.
Neither of the post-remodel approaches to Legacy look as good as it did before the reworks, but this is a step in the right direction. I still wish they would go back to the original gold shade instead of the more orange-gold we have now, but either way it had no business being as bright as it was after the last update.
-
I try to save them if the situation allows. If they're just dumb or new to the game it doesn't help anyone to leave them to die, and if they're suiciding it's nice to deny them what they want for a little bit. You can ruin my game, but you won't take my Altruism points. They can DC and eat the penalty if they want to leave so badly.
Also, since the OP mentioned it I feel the need to add that if you are being facecamped, trying to unhook yourself/speed through the first hook stage is the last thing you should do. Hard camping is only a bad strategy if the Survivors don't do things like that, otherwise it's perfectly efficient.
-
Entity forbid some people actually get excited about new content, how dare they.
-
They actually fixed a lot of the issues that I had encountered in my games and on streams recently.
That one hook on the Game, the Lery's shower room desync, Jill's face, Legacy outfits (tbd until I load in the game and actually see them), Killers using powers instead of grabs, the ridiculous Trickster combo, items showing the wrong icons... all of that needed fixing and it's nice they were able to address them this quickly. But, oh well, guess they fixed "nothing" because hooks still have a small issue which barely even affects gameplay in any way? I guess...

Aren't Julie and Susie the same player model? I wish they weren't also wish each member had there own voice lines
No, they have very different models. Joey/Susie unmasked in previous outfits look quite distinct. But for some bizarre reason, the latest Legion outfits use Frank and Julie even when they're supposed to be the other two.
-
Even if the lawsuit was over, they'd hold F13 for an Anniversary chapter anyway. That's one of the few things that they wouldn't just drop anywhere it could fit.
-
The Huntress update completely revived the game after about half the player base (including me) had quit over the last 8 months. Good times.
-
It's already perfectly balanced.
-
Can't wait for double Haddonfield for Halloween!
-
There's no chance of any future compensation being like the original Legacy. The original Legacy consisted of very specific rewards that depended on who you had dedicated your resources to during the early days. They would have to make way too many reskins for that to ever happen again today. At best, they'll do a charm or shards or something. Maybe a skin for one or two specific characters. But let's be real, it would probably only ever be a charm.
-
Yeah, that image is completely fake. The crossover is still just a distant dream. If only... At least it's not completely impossible anymore now that the remake is confirmed.

It's kinda like the clowns elephant costume. Also, I unlocked the clown after I earned elephant stuff on the rift. As a result, I never got my elephant head or outfit.
That would be a glitch, if true. Cosmetics you unlock on the Rift or in-game for characters you don't yet have access to are supposed to be available once you obtain those characters.
Also, not sure why everyone is complaining about this now when they've been doing it since the very first Rift. Recolors of store cosmetics is one of the only good things the Free Track of the Rift still delivers imo.
-
I can sort of see what you mean.
Personally I had never thought the old Jake didn't look Korean/East Asian. But I really can't see how some people think that the old Jake looked Latino or Native-American but the new one doesn't.

Tomb Raider I is a classic, and, playing it for the first time a few years ago, I could see why! It was fun a game. Eventually though, having to get the jump timing just right in certain areas drove me up the wall. There's one level in that game that I had heard a lot about. I'd heard fans say it was their favorite level, that it was one of the best in the entire series. I had really high expectations when I finally reached it, excited that I was about to have my best Tomb Raider experience yet!
I ended up spending what must have been over an hour trying to clear the very first room before I finally rage quit. I tried again a few months later, and after another session of climbing, jumping, missing, and climbing all over again, I decided it wasn't worth the aggravation and found a cheat to skip the level completely. I did have a little bit of fun playing the next level, but that experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn't bring myself to ever finish the game. Besides, I probably would have had the same issue later on.
Another one: Digimon World 3. The game had no fast travel mechanic and very few shortcuts, yet each part of what might be a 70-step quest could require you to traverse the length of virtually the entire map (so far) to advance. Back across the desert maze! Back across the graveyard maze! Back across the swamp maze! Back to the first continent! Back through the forest maze (...) to talk to random NPC #258! Step complete, next... back to the desert!
This made even worse by the fact that it wasn't always clear which random NPC you had to talk to, or which city or building you needed to visit in order to advance the story. I had the actual official guidebook and young Sci_Guy still couldn't figure out what to do next sometimes. It was as if the guide writers were just as lost as I was. I understand that JRPGs can be quite tedious, but that game was just needlessly frustrating.

I leveled up Ace and Adam to P350 (from 0) so they have about 20 or so now. The rest of my characters that were already P350 got about 1 each, since I didn't want to dump too many BP into characters that weren't missing perks. People weren't kidding about how stingy the bloodwebs are for Survivors though. I had to complete 3 bloodwebs on Claudette before I saw a single cake on her.

@JawsIsTheNextKiller said:
How exciting! I loved Dead Space 1 and 2 so I really hope its like those two.
I've always seen that this is a really common opinion for the series.
But after playing the three games back-to-back, I have never understood why people say that 3 had too much action and too little horror, but never say the same thing about 2, which was much worse in terms of over-the-top action hero sequences. 2 and 3 were nearly identical in terms of presentation, and neither of them hold a candle to the incredibly tense atmosphere of the first game. All of them were good games though, imo. The only thing I really disliked about 3 was where the story ended.
I think it'd be awesome if whatever this new project is could be spiritually more like the first game than the other two, but I'm not sure the silent protagonist is something they'd be willing to go back to nowadays.
-
BVHR, please. You know what to do.
-
And while they're at it, all related outfits should be available in the sets they were made for. Many of the earlier characters have full outfits that were never recognized when they introduced the set feature.

I'm not sure how you think Adrenaline is at all okay. The "risk" is minimal and the reward is enormous and comes from genrushing. Stay injured, slam gens, and have a perk undo all of the risk. What's that? Killer's trying to snowball? Get ######### noob, everyone's healthy and the slug picked themselves up.
Not to mention the fact that there's no risk for any exhaustion perk except perhaps Head On. Smash Hit? Camp the pallet and get a double speed boost. Adrenaline? Rush gens and predrop pallets. Balanced Landing? Free distance, minimal thought. Lithe? Same. Sprint Burst? 99ing takes a trial to learn. Dead Hard? Outplay with a button press.
If a killer doesn't down and hook Survivors who are staying injured to complete their objective (which is the optimal Survivor play even without Adrenaline), the health boost from Adrenaline doesn't "undo all of the risk". Just because the killer failed to take advantage of the opportunities that were given to them doesn't mean that the opportunity wasn't there, or that the risk for the survivors wasn't there.
Adrenaline's reward is a health state and a speed boost, both of which are meaningless if you're not downed, injured or in a chase. In fact, if you're not any of those things, the perk actively hurts you by restarting your Exhaustion. Adrenaline is one of the healthiest perks in the game, OP was right to see that it doesn't really need any serious changes.

AFAIK, the old method of backing up no longer works. The game used to rely on a file under Steam/userdata/(yournumber)/381210, and keep going from there... But after dedicated serves, I don't think the game uses that file at all. All saves are held with BHVR now.
I've had the same concern about all the reports of progression loss going around lately, but, frustratingly, I don't think there's anything we can do about it.
-
I know this will just sound contrarian and conspiracy-esque, but I'm going to say it: I really don't buy that both Wraith and Doctor are picked more than Trapper. Trapper is like the go-to newb killer, and, as rare as Trapper was at higher ranks, up until recently Wraith was virtually non-existent.

self care is an awful perk, there's a reason that medkits are the best items in the game
Flashlight are without question better assuming you know what you're doing. Just like Self-Care is a great perk if you know what you're doing. Just because a lot of people are bad with them doesn't mean that either flashlights or Self-Care aren't better than many of the other alternatives.

I've been tracking my games since RE dropped and, with no offerings, I've genuinely landed on Midwich more than any other map.

Mainly agree with this. It looks fantastic - all Trickster outfits do - but his base outfit has him splattered in blood and his one outfit that didn't was super edgy and made him look like a flamboyant vampire with a spiked bat. Even his weapon isn't particularly cruel in this one - it's a glowing rainbow baton.
I love the Trickster and his design and disagree with the complaints that he doesn't fit DBD, but yeah, this is the most survivor-looking killer you could possibly have.
100% agree with this.
I also think the base design is fine. Fits the game and the various details make him look like a proper killer. Not so much for this newer outfit. It definitely looks nice (take notes, Yun-Jin, take a lot of notes), but it also really does look like a survivor's outfit.
-
By this point, it should be at least 8 per rotation.
-
Has the dust settled, though? Feels like there's still some issues to work out with it. I played on it today and besides the fact that it was still laggy, Sprint Burst just straight up did not work the entire game. It would trigger without any change in speed whatsoever. It's hard to really think about how good or bad the map is when it's still so glitchy.

It wouldn't be very fair on the people who bought it on previous gen. And considering how bad this game ran on the xbox one X or PS4 Pro its not a hardware issue. It's a dev issue.
Not sure I agree with that.
I bought this game on PC back in 2016. At the time, my machine was from 2014. That computer I used to play on, however, cannot possibly keep up with the game in its current state. I had to switch to a newer machine years ago. I don't think it's reasonable to say the game can't advance past the point of what older consoles are capable of running. It's the norm for PCs, and nothing makes console any different.
But I do agree that if even the newer consoles are struggling, phasing out support for older consoles wouldn't fix the problem anyway.
-
I still see him daily, which is more than I can say for most killers. Granted, today it took 20+ games and I usually don't play that much, but even when I only play a few games I always seem to run into at least one Nemesis.
-
USB was already arguably Trickster's strongest add-on, now it's DOUBLE base kit, and you think he hasn't been buffed enough? This thread is a joke.
-
A new record, more players on Steam than ever. The second new record in a month. Too bad for r/dbd, I guess.

I'm not a Jane fan, but I have to admit she has some top-tier cosmetics.

"Distort the facts"
BHVR had essentially up to that point said "we're working on it," for years. With no indication that they actually were until they went into damage control mode.
I don't know about you, but I find it extremely convenient that they finally had something to show for it after they got called out by the community.
Of course they had been working on it. Are you actually suggesting that BHVR came out with the colorblind feature solely because that story went viral? What about BHVR's track record makes you think they could actually come up with something like that at a moment's notice? You have way more faith in BHVR that I do, at least.
Also, idk why you quoted that first part, whether or not BHVR were working on something is not what I implied was distorted.

You say that, yet look at the colourblind incident.
That was a pretty unique case where someone was able to distort the facts and create an illusion that BHVR was callous/carrying some animus towards a marginalized group. The story didn't matter because of DBD, it mattered because of sympathy for said group.
-
This game isn't newsworthy.
-
On anything but the largest maps that would be a terrible change. And honestly, if Midwich can have 2 zombies than it's totally fine for larger maps to only have two as well.
Zombies are meant to be a nuisance, not play the game for you. As is, they're a nuisance. 2 zombies are enough to force survivors to abandon optimal running paths and push survivors off of gens for free. The only change they need is better pathfinding to prevent them idling in the same spot forever, because as long as they don't get stuck they do exactly what they're supposed to do.
-
OP sounds like the kind of survivor that hides in a corner until someone finds then if they ever get injured.
-
A. He's not the worst.
B. If anything, it shows what 5 years of powercreep looks like.
-
Detective's. It's not even close.

What can I say, it's just funny to see the term get thrown around so loosely all of the sudden.
