You know that by saying that there isn't such thing as gen rushing because it's the survivor "only" objectif you also defacto lose the right to complain about camping and tunneling

After all the killers is also doing his only objectif.

Unless you somehow think that your logic should only be apply to only the survivor side because reason.

But he isn't complaining about camping or tunneling.

Doesn't matter, the logic is still relevant. Many people who complain about tunneling and camping also have no issues using stuff like SWF or gen rushing.

And that right there might be the perfect definition of a strawman argument.

In the old system, survivors were ranking easily, while killers struggled to. Now both sides have it hard to rank up.

Ranking up as a killer under emblems is a joke, especially compared to the Victory Cube conditions which forced Killers to adopt a certain playstyle. Killers, for the most part, resented that. Now Killers can relax again while Survivors are arbitrarily told to play a certain way and are punished for playing outside of that model.

This. Along with a bad new ranking system and rank reset this is a horrible time for new players to start. It's either a baby creature or a Doc with UR add ons that came correct for baby survivors

The rank reset? That was nearly two weeks ago.

    Yes?

So it follows that it's not affecting the free weekend players and now's as good a time as any. Rank Reset mania lasts for a few days, a week at the most. By now, the people still at Rank 20/19 with the newbies are the people they'd always be playing with. It's not like they're running up against recently-demoted red rank elites.

  • Were you in the process of being carried, or being picked up? Sometimes Adrenaline will fire when you're being picked up and your icon will even change from 'Dying' to 'Injured', but in that case it's wasted. Most of the time it works like you described; if you're fully being carried when the final gen is done, you'll get the bonus when you're unhooked. It's been like that for a while now.

As Killer, both Swamp maps. They're way too large and the tall grass doesn't help. When this map shows up, I generally want to just quit the match.

Whenever I roll Pale Rose, I secretly hope the killer's going to leave.

  • Haddonfield will always be special for me.
Can't stand The Pale Rose. I don't mind the Grim Pantry, but I always groan if I see a Swamp offering because I know it's a 50/50 of ending up on a terrible map. The Game is quickly rising to challenge Pale Rose though, because the upstairs gen spawns can be virtually unwinnable against any competent killer. Three gens within spitting distance of each other, woo.

  • I fee like I'm in some twilight zone where instead of everyone hating pineapple on pizza, it's the norm. Is this what the Entity's realm is like?

Honestly though, I have tried ham and pineapple and it wasn't awful. But I'm as basic as it gets when it comes to pizza. Plain cheese and nothing else every time. Pineapple is about as much a turn off as any other topping for me.

  • Plunderer's was fun before Emblems. Pulling keys and getting a surprise hatch was always wild, but I'm a hoarder by nature, so bringing rare items back after each win was rewarding too.

  • Oh my goodness. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I was able to snag that Street Meg and SF Claudette. I have wanted the Daddy Jake but I won't be greedy, I'll leave that for someone else. Thanks again!

  • @SoulKey said:
I think it's some sort of a trade off, Female characters have better chance hiding but their grunts of pain are louder "Higher pitch" than those for male characters.

Mr. Jake is kind of an exception to that. You can hear that guy whimpering from a mile away.

  • Fingerguns!

Honestly it would be cool if each survivor had a unique gesture; Ace gets Fingerguns, Dwight bites his nails, David cracks his knuckles, something flavorful for everyone. But I'll settle for anything beyond pointing and beckoning first.

I know, I am worried the doctor won't yet I hope. I hope all of us get cool stuff.. Us killers need more pants..need pants.

Alternate Doctor designs were teased at the same time more cosmetics were announced.
It's pretty safe assume all non-licensed characters are going to get something.

  • This is as bad an idea now as the last ten thousand times someone's thought of it.

  • When you've played the game long enough, you'll have seen every single character be a toxic headache. I can't say I have any recent experiences that stick out. Though back in the early days, Wraiths and face-camping were such a common combo. I don't have a lot of fond memories of the Wraith.
I definitely associate Laurie with 'Most Likely To Leave You to Die', so if that's toxic, she stands out too.

I like it how it is.

It shows that not every Perk needs a reward on it, you can fool around as much as you like.
If making it a challenge for yourself isn't enough of an incentive to run it, no one will blame you for not running it.

    Just don't use it.
Having a Perk be a complete burden is at least MUCH better than a Perk that's powerful with no downsides at all, like Sprint Burst and Decisive Strike.

So then tell me: why would i ever use it? I want to use it. I'm down for a challenge. Survivor is too easy at high rank. But where's my incentive? I don't just want to die for no good reason. If i'm taking a severe handicap for both myself and my team: i want BP bonus. And it should at least synergise with some other perks.

Hard mode just makes no sense without an upside of any kind. I'd rather see it balanced so that its hard mode if you mess up, but not a big problem if you dont.

The incentive is to challenge yourself, i just said that. If that's not enough, then, again, feel free to not use it.

Lots of games have a hardmode without additional rewards.
    They're not for everyone.
To me, they're worth for the sheer feeling of overcoming more challenging odds.

And you end up challenging your teammates because you're a dead weight they have to carry.

I'm sorry, but three other survivors did not elect to start with 3 players and a bodybag that gets off on handicapping the team.

    THIS.
If the point was only to challenge yourself, they wouldn't have bothered adding the 'Unbreakable' or pseudo-'Iron Will', the first of which is unintentionally worthless. Making yourself a liability to the rest of your team is a terrible kind of challenge. The perk is just poorly-implemented, really.

If there was some skill involved, as is the case with dead hard for example, I don't believe there would be any problems with it. But as it stands, SB is arguably the most powerful and brain-dead perk with little to no counter-play, depending on the killer you're playing. It eliminates virtually all need for anticipation, general awareness and positional understanding... and it's something I learned the hard way when I stopped using exhaustion perks completely after a few hundred hours.

Compared to all the other more intellectual perks in the game with their layers of counter-play?
I think you're simplifying things a little bit. Even the simple decision of whether to burn it early or save it by walking is more thought than goes into most perks in the game, on either side.
I do think that SB is and always has been, nerfs aside, the strongest perk in the game, but you could make a similar 'braindead' argument for any perk.

  • The Halloween Chapter was a home run in a way that no other chapter really was. The Killer was great, the perks for both sides (at the time) were great, the map was unlike anything we'd ever had, and it was all wrapped up with an iconic series. I don't think any of the other chapters have managed to hit all those notes like the Halloween one did.

    No purple, blasphemy.

    Unforgivable, tbh.

  • Being able to unlock new characters. I've reached the point where I've leveled up everyone I'm ever going to actually play and now all the extra BPs just overflow into nothing. I don't even bother spending them on my maxed characters since I almost never bring items into a match. So, it will be nice to have new places to dump BP again.

  • The problem is that it has been addressed multiple times and each time players have been satisfied for a few weeks, and then it was right back to the old complaints. They buffed gen times, they nerfed co-op bonuses, they buffed gen times again, they added regression, they buffed Ruin, they buffed regression. Not to mention the changes to exit gates.

    Likely because it's not live.

Yeah, that just might have something to do with it.

  • Hoping this forum will be more mature than the Steam forums and less biased than the subreddit. Could be a fun place if it is.

  • Shiny new forum, woo!
