Apologies if I mentioned too many people. If me pinging any of you is annoying, just let me know and I'll refrain from doing so in the future.
@Anniehere because we met on the forums and outside of the forums, she's been nothing but sweet and kind (not sure if that counts since we mostly talk outside of the forums, but I'll put her here anyways).
@StarLost because he seems to be a pretty cool dude. Even if I don't agree with his opinions, I can usually see where he's coming from anyhow.
@MadLordJack We agreed on quite a lot of things and they seemed like a genuinely cool person. Shame that they were banned.
@GeneralV I don't agree with him on most things, but you gotta admire his passion for Freddy. Even though I'm personally not too keen on seeing old Freddy's return, I still hope he does come back someday, for his sake.
@GoodBoyKaru I don't agree with him very often, but he seems like a genuinely nice guy. He's already been mentioned a fair bit so perhaps this is just annoying for him now. I'm sorry if that's the case!
@Seiko300 We don't interact much, and they're definitely one of the more obscure members of the forums, but I like them anyhow. They always seem to give their opinions in a respectful manner and as far as I'm aware, no one has mentioned them yet.
@Pet_The_Lizards (Took kind of a while to find that name because of the underscores xD ) Like with Seiko, I don't interact much with Pet_The_Lizards, if at all. Even so, I remember we once had a very pleasant conversation about Jazz about a year ago. I see them every now and then on the forums. They seem nice :)
@Phasmamain One of the few Jeff mains out there. Big respect.

I don’t mean end game chat, I mean where people go out of their way to look up your username and send you a personal message about how much you suck. As a killer main, every time, I get a "gg" I am always surprised because I think it is just more hate mail.
Well my friend, who is a survivor main, says he doesn't experience this. Do any other survivors out there share in his experience, or is the opposite true?
On my profile, I believe that I have about 2 or 3 negative comments from my time playing Survivor (considering how many negative comments I get, that number is extremely small).
-
As I expected, basically everybody agreed that it isn't toxic. Cool beans.
-
FYI: I voted half n half.
I like to see other people's opinions on things relating to the game (even if I really disagree) and sometimes share my own opinions. I don't take it super seriously as bias is often fairly blatant in many posts (not trying to claim I'm any better, I've made many explicitly biased posts before). Even so, I try to at least understand other's points, albeit with a grain of salt. Overall, cool people, can get kinda heated at times though. A lotta posts are clearly made out of anger (which I've also done in the past to be fair).
-
In the current state of the game, with gen speeds being so fast, no.

I've always been kind of a wimp when it came to horror. DBD has helped a little but I still avoid horror movies nonetheless, lol.

There is a lot of cool stuff you can pull off when playing against one. Like not dropping the pallet when they expect you to, faking a window to make them go into tantrum, run into them for a second when they're revving (aka the FOV tech). Bubba is definitely more than just a braindead instadown killer, at least in my eyes
Assuming they rev at the pallet, not dropping it is basically a death sentence, right? There definitely are some jukes you can use to mess with him, but would a more experienced Bubba player fall for them?

bubbas are really fun to play against assuming they don't facecamp at 5 gens. however, thats a lot to ask for from a bubba
I'm actually genuinely curious as to why you enjoy playing against him so much. His gameplay basically just boils down to 'drop the pallet or die' or alternatively 'abuse the strong window or die'. It's not exactly engaging gameplay. At least, that's just the way I see it.
-
I placed Pyramid head by himself in the unsure category because whether he's fun or unfun to face, depends on his playstyle. Pyramid heads who just play normally are great. However, the turbo tunnel PHs can be a bit unpleasant. By turbo tunnel, I mean a PH who cages first specifically so that they can tunnel the person right after they get saved, without the fear of having to deal with DS and/or BT. There's not really any real counterplay against a turbo tunnel PH. Especially since a really good PH could do this at 4 or 5 gens if they downed their first Survivor quick.

Exposed status effect is not balanced.
Why do you think it's unbalanced? From my point of view, the exposed status effect is only unbalanced when used by Nurse and maybe Spirit.
-
@Leonardo1ita said:
You're all missing out the point.
As a Pyramid main, the main problem is that the only thing that keeps him strong is his ability to tunnel someone out of the game tormenting them. Other than that cages are not that strong if used just to hook more quickly or force survivors to go across the map.
He need a rework on this point, he gotta stop being the tunneling master killer have a rework that buffs his cages/torment in some way.
In that, we agree. Much like Bubba is the king of camping, PP head is the king of tunnelling. The only truly viable way to play him currently is to use the fake M2 into M1 strategy where possible, only go for guaranteed shots and of course, mercilessly tunnel someone out early. That obviously isn't great from a fun perspective for either side really. So I'm all for all the cages being reworked.
I'd personally also like to see his POTD addressed too. Going for shots simply isn't worth it against good Survivors because it's too heavily telegraphed and it's also pretty easy to dead hard. Perhaps they could remove the highlight on the ground that shows where the POTD is going? That way it'd give less time for the Survivor to react.
-
Depends on my mood. If I want to take the game proper seriously, then I'll put some darker cosmetics on my characters. If I just wanna play without caring what happens, style all the way!

Outside of chases, all Survivor gameplay really is, is staying still and filling up a progress bar. This makes for extremely dull gameplay. So if a Killer isn't performing very well, then nobody has fun. The killer doesn't have fun because the gens are flying and the Survivors don't have fun because most of the team probably just sat on gens for most of the game.
Sad thing is though, there isn't any way to fix most of Survivor's dull gameplay without fundamentally changing the entire game. At which point, it wouldn't even be Dead by daylight anymore. So, we're just stuck with the sorry excuse for gameplay that is watching a progress bar go up for minutes on end.

Now that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game has been announced, does that mean BHVR could lose the license like they did with Stranger Things?
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I'd be totally cool with losing Bubba. His gameplay is extremely dull and uninteresting (drop the pallet or die) and his kit actively encourages camping (it's essentially impossible to save if Bubba decides to camp). So yeah, I'd be totally cool with losing him.
Another more objectively good reason as to why his removal could be good, is that if he is removed, then BBQ could be made into a basic perk available to all. That would obviously be extremely good for the game as it would remove the 'pay to reduce the grind' thing that we have currently. I know that BBQ technically can show up in the shrine, but it shows up so rarely that it's kind of a non-factor.

why would you even comment this here instead of one of the multiple threads about chapter 23 announcement….
Because their favourite killer is Spirit, so they're nervous that Spirit is going to get the Billy treatment. I sincerely doubt she will, but you never really know with Behaviour.

For Survivor; Aftercare.
I used to run Bond but the information is not at its full potential.
With Aftercare we can see each other at all times, they can see if I'm going for the save, working on a gen etc. It's really helpful when one of us need a heal and we have to group up.
Auras on both sides is a really good way to "communicate".
I don't play Killer much and I'm still having the weak perks on them.

Yeah same, Aftercare
I too, am a great appreciator of Aftercare. Excellent perk for solo que.
For Killer, it's kind of hard to decide. However, if I had to commit to a favourite, then it'd probably be save the best for last. Not even because it's a good perk (although it definitely is on many killers). I just like it because it's a great feel good perk. Feels super satisfying on many killers to hit and recover almost immediately.
-
I think the OP's point was more that, for Killer especially, Mouse and keyboard is significantly better (especially if you're playing a ranged Killer). Saying git gud in this context doesn't even make sense.

I believe Behaviour wouldn't want to do this because apparently it'd be too hard to do. Seems like a pretty lame excuse to me but oh well.

I sure don't miss the guy. OG Freddy was just an M1 killer with built in slowdown and an obnoxious wait time between hits. Rework Freddy was basically just a poor mans Clown with mobility and obnoxious slowdown if you built around that (Forever Freddy). Current Freddy is just a worse version of rework Freddy. So what is there to miss exactly?

Ghostface and Huntress. Both because their mechanics are broken (Note that I said broken, not OP). On a few occasions, I have essentially stared into Ghostface's soul and still not broken him out of stealth (even when I made a conscious effort to keep my character model as far out of view as possible). So yeah, not very enjoyable facing a Ghostface. Luckily, they're a lot rarer in my experience after MMR's introduction.
I don't like Huntress simply because her hitboxes are absolutely ridiculous. You'd expect the hitbox to be roughly rectangular based on it's shape, but no. It's hitbox is actually the shape of a ######### beach ball. Add onto that the possibility of latency and voila. You've now got highly questionable hatchet hits fairly regularly. What fun :(

It would take longer to queue up in lobbies though.
It would. However it would also mean that people who don't want to partake in the event, don't have to just take a break for two weeks. I'm all for game altering events and game modes, but they need to be in a separate que to preserve the normal DBD experience for those who'd prefer that. We have the playerbase to support it. More than likely, the ques are so out of whack because the game's balance is so out of whack (although, that's a whole other discussion entirely).
I have to say though, it really does frustrate me that the Devs are so terrified to add in new game modes. They usually deliver mediocre events that change very little because of their reluctance to add event exclusive game mode(s). When they do add game altering events then that becomes a problem because they seemingly don't test things enough (Killer interactions with snowmen are all over the place). You can't have game altering events if it's going to be forced upon everyone. It's not fair on those people who want to play the game normally. Sorry, just something that kind of annoys me.
-
@Nathan13 said:
This is only an event guys.
That'd be a perfectly fine excuse, if it was still possible to play the game normally. Except it isn't. We're forced to either play through the event, or not play at all. So yeah, saying "This is only an event guys" doesn't really work here. A smarter Dev team would've split the ques into the winter event que and the normal que. That way, if there was something broken with the event (like there is now with people using the snowmen to extend chases) then people could just swap back to normal gameplay. Unfortunately, Behaviour either don't bother, or don't care enough.

@Yords said:
I am going to just say it. The realm beyond was... beyond disappointing and completely unnecessary. This is just going to be me rambling a bit. I just wanted to share my thoughts on the current aesthetic of dbd.
Yes, it is pretty cool to see old maps update and given fresh graphics. Yes, it was cool to hear that we would be receiving a full on visual rework of older maps. What was promised to come into the game sounded great.
However,
looking at what we have gotten so far it has been pretty disappointing. All we have gotten are performance issues (especially for our non-pc folks), even worse maps (rip old father's chapel), and on top of it all the game has somehow LOST aesthetic. And I think this also partly has to do with the fact that we no longer have the ability to customize maps via offerings.
Remember back in the old days of dbd? Remember when fog offerings could be stacked and were actually pretty cool to use? Remember back when you could use those moonlight offerings to change up the way the maps looked? That was cool, that was great. I saw offerings as a way to modify the maps' aesthetic. I already thought the game was cool, but it became even better when I realized I could modify the map to make it spookier. Now it is just... plain. Lifeless.
At first the map reworks weren't really a requested change, but seemed to be acceptable. When we first saw what new badham was going to look like, it was exciting. Seeing macmillian all decked out in cooler lighting was also cool. But I honestly feel like BHVR downgraded the graphics when they pushed out these updates.
I don't know how to explain it, but I feel like old DBD had better graphics; that they were more fitting to the environment and the characters. The new animations are also kind of lame as well. Before the survivors would look around timidly and actually you know... look scared. Now they look like meercats and silly. Pretty disappointing.
The real kicker is that I don't remember a single person ever asking for graphics to be updated. Maybe a few textures here and there, but a whole rework for maps and new redesigns? Pft. We got slightly better looking maps at the cost of frame rates and skewed map balance.
I honestly am starting to see why many people miss old DBD. New DBD is... eh. With old DBD it actually felt like dead by daylight, the horror game. I know that BHVR has sort of moved away from the total "horror game where killer brutalizes their prey" kind of vibe, but that does not mean it should be almost completely abandoned. It should still be more focused on.
Everything about old DBD FELT like a horror game. The movements of the survivors, chases, the killers, the maps, the lighting, the fog even. Chases now are just holding W. Holding W doesn't even allow you to interact with the killer all that much. You might as well be playing a different game entirely. Chases back in the day were hardcore; a little survivor sided but still. Playing against billy was fun and risky. It was constant thinking of reading the other players, not constantly putting things between each other.
This is why I have sort of drifted away from Oni to Blight. He gives me back that old feeling. Hell I don't even play him with addons, but that is enough for me. Blight is constantly in the survivors' faces, which I find to be very interactable and amazingly fun as both killer and survivor.
I miss running for my LIFE in this game. For the first time ever I am actually slightly bored of the game. I will still be playing it, but it is just not as fun as it was. The portrait of a murder is the first chapter I have felt zero excitement for, and that honestly makes me a little sad.
And BHVR's misguided and frankly terrible actions lately have also not been helping. They nerfed Wraith, MY BOY DUDE, MY BOY. And why did they nerf him? Because he was a wee bit op.
Anyways I am tired. Sorry for the poor messy writing, I had a long day and am very tired. I miss old dbd's aesthetic, the game will continue to not be fun until bhvr does something right, we can no longer modify maps through offerings, and the new graphics don't fit. That is all.
Ngl, the only thing that I think was a net improvement was when they changed Survivor animations. The old animations were laughably bad and I'm so happy the Devs changed them. But yeah the map reworks, by and large, were awful.

Large walls that break LoS are your best bet. You have to be unpredictable just like Nurse. Collide with the dire crows to remove her ability to damage with it when she can’t see where you are. It’s not guaranteed counterplay but imo it never should be when the killer is the 1 and the survivors are the 4.

A few tricks:
- Her biggest weakness is stairs. Change your elevation rapidly and her crows are useless.
- Repel swarms ASAP. Too many people let these linger, giving me chances for damage.
- If you see her plant a crow at a loop, move to the next loop. She slows down considerably when doing so.
- Treat her like you would a Huntress. Bait her shots, be careful looping her and juke her shots in the open.
- If you eat a long distance crow, expect a visit from her soon.
- Predrop pallets and don't try close-range mindgames with her unless you are very confident.
- When unhooking someone, make sure to watch out for incoming crow barrages - bodyblock them if need be.
- Try to avoid staying injured for too long.
- She can take a long time in chase, despite her decent 1v1 do gens while she chases someone else.
I'll try to keep all this in mind next time I play against her. Thanks :)

Curious to see, which killer is everyone’s favourite to verse. Mine is demo because he is the goodest of boys, but also provides an actual opportunity to loop and doesn’t completely shut down the ability to have decent chase, whilst still maintaining the high possibility of downing you at certain loops that would be harder for other killers.

Like I understand complaints about the other two. But, really? Exponential is so more situational to the point it’ll be dumped after it’s initial newness. Getting slugged in the area is situational. Not to mention the killer can simply not slug. And most killers just go to the hook. The only way I see it viable is with Tenacity. Had a conversation with someone who said boons are busted COH = Exponential. Which is saying Dead Hard = Smash Hit. Because both are exhaustion. It got to the point of oh they run Power Struggle and Flip Flop which they called busted. Big overreactions.
It's not. Indeed, in solo-que, it's perfectly fair. However, much like Head-on, it's a perk which can make games pretty miserable for the Killer if properly abused in a swf. It's not overpowered, but it is potentially problematic.

You want too much from them. They don't think that far, or it usually ends with really bad ideas.
In fairness. They have the right idea. If tunnelling / camping was nerfed or removed in the same patch as big Killer buffs, then that could be incredibly good for the health of the game. It sounds scary because the OP hasn't explained what they mean by buffing Killers and removing tunnelling and camping. That's why I'm intrigued what they have to say. I agree with them, but doing what they propose is also extremely risky and would need to be done right.
-

If people really want this game to be better then they need to start demanding tunneling and camping be removed. If you massively buff killers first every single survivor will quit the game. You need to do both at the same time. In one patch you need to get rid of camping and tunneling while also buffing killers
Ok, what are your ideas for removing tunnelling and camping? What are your ideas for buffing Killers? If you're going to make statements such as these then you should probably back them up with some ideas.

I honestly think it's horrible from a design perspective. It requires zero effort from the Survivor and is stupidly effective against killers without mobility or an insta-down. I truly hate how this perk is basically just further emphasising how weak killers M1 Killers like Trapper and Pig are in the current meta. Even after his recent buffs, Trapper still sucks and it makes me so sad.
