This is gonna be the first part to a series im gonna do whenever a killer drops. I want to hear both sides perspective on the killer.
SO
Whats your opinion so far on the Artist?
I despise how she looks and sounds. Haven't played against her yet though so I can't really comment on the gameplay side of things. Might update this comment if I face her a few times.
-
If I could wish for anything? Well then I'd have to go with:
1: New gamemodes. Doesn't even really matter if they're balanced at the start or not. Variety is the spice of life and having just the same old same old grows tiresome after a while.
2: Console cross-progression (it's something people have asked for, for ages).
3: Third one is much more selfish, but personally, I'd love a Bloodborne chapter. Doesn't even really matter who the characters are as long as they're semi-recognizable (By that I mean, they're not just a random enemy that you fight in one area of the world).
-
Personally, I think that Father Gascgoine would fit DBD best (Only souls game I've played extensively is Bloodborne). Orphan of Kos could work, but I can't say for certain that they'd fit. Truth be told, I accidentally went into new game + before I could complete the DLC. I never actually got the chance to fight the Orphan of Kos, lol.

It can only hurt him if they aren't in madness 3.
True. However, people aren't going to be in madness tier 3 all the time so it still does hurt him.

So from todays games the most random things I've seen get filtered are
The letter "i" from the start of the sentence. That was the only word censored...
"but Elodie". We cant even talk about in game characters - thats too broken... But giving players IPs for free is fine I guess?
Yesterday I was swfing with some people. Me and one of those people got talking about our home countries in the in-game chat. Then, for some reason, saying "In Ireland" got censored. For the record, I'm Irish and I wasn't being disparaging towards the country at all. Yet, the in-game filter saw fit to censor it. My bad I guess??
-
Maybe this is unpopular, but I'd honestly place him in C right now. There's just so many things outside of the Killer's control that can screw him over. Some examples being, latency (which messes with shock timings), dead hard (whether intentional or not, it is actually possible to dead hard his static blast to avoid being affected by it) and to add insult to injury, COH can hurt him too.
-
I don't really have a favourite outfit as such because I just change things too much. However, I do have two headpieces which remain pretty consistent (On my Jeff at least).
I dunno why but ever since I was little, masked dudes always seemed so cool to me. Probably because the mask adds a sense of mystery or something, idk lol.
-
My all time favourite game has got to be Bloodborne. It's not perfect (Character's mouths don't even move when they talk for example) but I just love everything about it. The grand, hauntingly beautiful score. The punishing but extremely rewarding gameplay. I also really appreciate that it has numerous mechanics to encourage aggressive gameplay. For example, if you just took damage, there's a brief period after which you can regain some health by successfully attacking enemies. In general, the combat just feels more fast paced and satisfying compared to other souls games. The lore is horrifying yet amazing as well.
The weapon variety isn't as great as other souls games, but Bloodborne makes up for that in the sheer quality of the weapons they have. Almost all of the weapons feel extremely satisfying to use and, as the little cherry on top, almost every weapon could be made viable if you build around it properly. So if you really like the Saw cleaver, you could upgrade it continuously and pump blood echoes into the skills that matter to keep the Saw cleaver powerful enough to compete with the stronger enemies. It still wouldn't really be able to reach the highs of some other weapons (Saw cleaver is a beginner weapon after all) but it would be viable enough to use which is something that I really appreciate it in a game.
Overall, all of these things come together to create a fantastic game which I'll remember fondly for years to come. I really hope that the rumours about the PC port are true. Although, new rumours pop up all the time so who knows?
-
Still decent, but in my opinion at least, it's not nearly as strong as circle of healing.

Huh, it was edited. The original question was "shadowborn basekit", not FOV slider.
Ahh I see. The responses make more sense in that context. My bad.
-
Never in a million years. With any luck, it might be some meaningful competition. Although, I kind of doubt it.
-
You probably should clarify what you mean by an FOV slider, OP. One or two peeps seem to have misunderstood.
-
I used to get a considerable amount of negative comments. These days, not so much. Not really sure why tbh.

Just like how survivors have to to bones for noed killers have to do bones for boons.
And dont comment killers have to worry about patrolling, loops, kicking gens, keeping pressure, hooking etc etc we don’t have time to do bones.
Cause I’ll comment survivors don’t have time to worry about 5 totems getting done we have to loop, do gens, unhook, heal, open gates etc etc
Comparison doesn't really work when you consider that only one Survivor has to loop at a time. Healing is not an absolute necessity against most Killers (Plus with circle of healing, heals take relatively little time if the totem is in a good spot). Only a max of two Survivors can be opening gates at any given time. The only truly apt comparison is gens, but even then, you can still have two people doing gens while one is chased and the other is totem hunting.
On the flip side, the Killer is just a single player. They can't split up objectives between teammates. If there is a strong Hex, then that can be taken care of by a single Survivor, leaving everyone else free to do what they need to do. If there is a strong boon at play, then the Killer must dedicate their time to kick it. If the boon is poorly placed then that's not a problem, but Survivors can pick and choose where they want their boons. Meaning that the Killer might have to go out of their way to snuff it out. Even if they do snuff it, the Survivor can immediately go and replace it if they wish. So yeah, I get where you're coming from, but the comparison just straight up doesn't work at all.

Been playing this game for over a year and never had a problem revealing him. Went against him earlier and find it impossible to reveal despite standing very close to him.
There was even an occasion where i stood in front as he's breaking the pallet but no reveal. Killer used duration and crouch speed add ons. Dk if this is a bug or im missing something
As Dwight pointed out, Ghostface is extremely buggy. I absolutely despise him for that reason. Luckily Ghostface players are a lot rarer after SBMM (for me at least).
-
My build fluctuates too much for me to really have a concrete main build. Only perk I almost always have is DS because being tunnelled is kind of annoying and DS helps give me peace of mind.

I actually thought the same, lol. Was genuinely really surprised and confused when I realised that it actually meant that you became insta-downable.

Soldier's Puttee is replaced with a different add-on.
For each Hatchet that The Huntress throws, gain a 0.04m/s (1%) boost to movement speed, up to a maximum of 0.2m/s increase. I guess?
Yeah that could work. Not really sure if it's worth putting that idea in the feedback section (They'd likely ignore it) but still a good idea nonetheless.
-
Could pair reasonably well with Agitation and Starstruck too.

Honestly a lot of the issues with her could be fixed if the hitboxes weren't beachball shaped instead of hatchet shaped imho
I agree. Although, she might have to be compensated somehow in return. Making her have fairer hitbox could be a pretty substantial nerf. Maybe make the Soldier's Puttee add-on base-kit or something? I dunno. I've never been the best at proposing balance changes.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
They need to turn her spherical hitboxes into cylinders, then see from there
If they actually did that, then that would bring me an immense amount of joy. Man do I hate the bloody hatchet hitboxes, lol.

@GoodBoyKaru said:
Or the devs should make solo queue more bearable by deleting blindness and giving more auras basekit
In his infinite wisdom, Jeff graciously bestowed upon us mere mortals, the gift of Aftercare. Yet, you now seem to be ungrateful? Disgraceful!
In all seriousness, that's probably not gonna happen anytime soon. Aftercare is a break from the typical meta stuff and it does make up for the typical lapse of communication in solo que somewhat. That's why I'm trying to encourage people who normally hate solo que to at least try it. We shouldn't have to supplement errors in the game's design with perks, but for now, we do. If Aftercare, in some shape or form, was made base-kit then that could be a nice change. Although I can't see that happening.

@dugman said:
Aftercare (TM) is a registered trademark of Jeff. Side effects may include headaches, halos around objects or people, a sense of altruism, paranoia and persistent running. Serious side effects may include piercing back pain, consult a physician if accompanied by profuse bleeding and screaming. Aftercare is intended as a survival supplement and is not intended to replace professional medical kits. Before starting Aftercare you must be level 2 and undergo basic Aftercare training with a licensed Aftercare specialist. For more information about Aftercare contact us at [email protected] .
Got a good chuckle out of that one. Thanks.

I mean, you can invest 9k shards in him if you don't want to dump money on it, Distortion is a good perk too considering it's the only counter to Lethal Pursuer and helps you scout the killer's build
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/295006/why-you-should-use-aftercare-in-solo-que
Might I point out that Aftercare is VERY useful when someone is in chase as well, both for you AND your teammates, because if someone is chased and they know you are working on a gen in the main building, they can avoid looping there to not hinder your progress
I believe that Phasmamain is, as a matter of fact, a Jeff main themselves. They most likely were referring to other people who aren't enlightened. However, you are right. Shards can work as well.
Indeed, Aftercare's potential uses are honestly hard to measure. Sometimes, it provides tons of value to the team, but you wouldn't know it unless they specifically said so.
-
I understand that the penalty sucks for those who have bad internet. However, I think @Hippie put it best. It's unfair to go into a match knowing full well that you could disconnect at any moment.

Hahahaha yeah but nope, not gonna run it as i like to use many other different perks i like more than his.
And nope the only "meta" perk i use as survivor is dh, the rest i switch around with many different perks 😉

This is assuming it's strong enough to run though. If it's only really good to use against 2-3 killers, it wont see much use in SWF and only rarely see use in solo.
True, but isn't that even more of a reason to not give it the effect the OP suggested?

The benefits of purchasing Jeff are numerous. We simply need to educate the people of this fact.

Along with the current effect it had a survivor version of Lethal Pursuer as it showed the killers aura at the start of the match for a few seconds like 5 or 8 seconds?
I think this buff would make it better. What do you think?
Kinda? I dunno. This might just make weak Killers who depend on being unseen at the start (Trapper and Ghostface mainly as Myers already starts Undetectable) much MUCH weaker, while not really affecting the top tier Killers at all. I'm not against Dark sense being buffed as it's current effect is a little underwhelming. However, I'm not a huge fan of stuff that makes weaker Killers suffer while leaving strong Killers untouched.
-
I've made similar mistakes in the past so don't worry! Just be more careful next time. Have a nice day.

“what they're doing is just game mechanic” kind of you would teach me to use this 180 lag flick tech on console?
Maybe next time, read the post before commenting? The OP literally agreed in their post that the lag flick is an exploit. Why did you try and act like what you've said is some kind of rebuttal?
-
DS is not supposed to be a get out of jail free card. It is intended to provide you with an aid against being tunnelled (Which it does reasonably well). DS being retained after an unhook used to heavily reward Survivors for making rather stupid plays because they could unhook and still get away thanks to DS. We do not need that to come back.
-
Hell no. The place seems to have a really bad vibe about it.
-
For the record, I think them being outright destroyed is a bad idea. However, adding a significant cooldown is something I would absolutely be in favour of.
-
To be honest, Huntress. She apparently throws straight up trucks at Survivors considering how abhorrently broken her hitboxes are. Half the time it doesn't even feel worth it to try and juke. If they whiff, it feels less like I outplayed them and more like I got lucky.
-
Killer isn't fun anymore for me. Survivor is fine though. For now at least.
