I think the loss of Endgame Piggy needs to be replaced with something else.
-
I would rather have it as a rare one, because it looks like it would take more time, which in a match, time is everything.
-
Survivors make up more of the playerbase, statistically. They will make desicions that benefit them over killers because there is a potential for a bigger income from that side.
That and they would like to cater to new players.

Why do people think games lasting less than 5 minutes is the norm? Properly applying pressure and keeping more than 1 survivor off gens at all times is what the norm should be. I get maps and killers aren't all equal, but that's what meta builds are there for. If you want to win, you might want to play a meta build. Survivors have learned to do it so their fragility can't be exploited, DS, BT, Unbreakable. If you want to play to have fun you must accept the possibility of loss.
Because at higher ranks, all survivors not engaged in a chase are working on gens (and are able to hit Ruin skill checks, so it's not like that actively hinders them). I actively derank just so I don't stay in red these days. A game should reward everyone for playing well, not punishing one half of the experience for doing well. On bigger maps like Red Forest or Temple of Purgation, heck, even on medium size maps, I expect to give up a gen within the first minute and focus on one area that gave decent RNG for me.
I don't like the idea of metas in a game like this. As I've said, seeing the same 4 survivor perks in every game gets boring and tedious, since they're all really strong, and all cover up for stupid desicions that they make. Rescue in front of the killer? BT. Get unhooked, but are stupid enough to let the killer find you again within 60 seconds? DS. Risk staying injured for a gen? Adrenaline. Sure, you might see an Inner Strength, or the occasional Self Care, but that's about it.
They aren't as fragile as you state they are. They have a lot of second chance perks. And most of them aren't counterable except by specific addons (for some killers) or only one way of playing. If there is a DS on the field, you have to slug the unhooked survivor in order to counter that one perk. NOED is technically a counter to Adrenaline, but often times it's a risk. Either you don't need it and play with three perks, or it's never activated/cleansed after activation so it's never used.
This isn't even talking about the looping that survivors can do for extending the chases potentially for 5 minutes, which, when a gen takes 80 seconds, then most of them or even all of them can get done within that time frame. I hate to bring this up (because half the people on the forums seems to hate the guy), but Truetalent would've lost this game if he didn't play the way he did... then again, he's not a good Legion player in general.

I would only camp in a few situations:
- Survivors act very toxic
- The game is rushed to oblivion
- A particular survivor decides to piss me off.
That's about it.

@Raven014 You misunderstand. I would really like it if the devs would make the game more balanced.
I'm just seeing this from a realistic point of view: Money will decide what is going to happen. If the amount of sold DLCs and cosmetics increase, BHVR will continue this path.
Sorry if I did. Looking at the two people before you... I came to the wrong conclusion about you... and you are correct.

What I hate about this is that they, and apperently some of us as well, leave it to them to test it and come up with the conclusion that something does not work.
and we should just accept it as some absolute truth.
Not to mention all the possible variety towards an adjustment of the suggested door changes.
Like FOR EXAMPLE, what if it does regress but cant regress further then 20% of what it was?
Now its suddenly a little less safe to run at a closed door, subtle, maybe to subtle, but better already, you can mess around with these parameters all you want to get it atleast MORE fair/balanced.
Its weird to introduce something like the Endgame collapse and all the work that went into that and then just allow for such an obvious loophole to exist.
Also, to discredit the devs and their testing a bit (not to mention, this is what the damn PTB's are for...) remember when they changed the Huntress's hatchets?
How the admitted on stream that instead of it being a rectangle box fiting the hatchet shape you were actually throwing a beachball? like the hatchet was rotating in all direction/axis from a single point. (even though it did not act like that regarding corners of walls but did act like that regarding survivor hitboxes hence being able ot hit a survivor that is already around a corner)
Remember how they finally thought they should adress it, then tried, failed misserable and just reverted it and NEVER touched it since?
Yeah.... idk if we can trust them with these blank statements of "we tried it and it did not work"
Although if im suppose to read that as "you can complain about it but the devs arnt going to do anything about it" then sure, I guess.
I agree, because they do not test for higher ranks where this would matter most.
-
I play to have fun, since pipping is more pain than it's worth.
-
That's why I specified about the arrogant ones. One of my best friends is a survivor main and she's the kindest person you'll ever meet. But even then, she plays some killer.
-
I don't like how It's connected to Legion because of the DW mechanic. I wish it was the old BT, tbh.
Every change they make to BT directly effects a killer. A perk shouldn't have that much power.
-
I'm honestly not sure why your trying to disparage what I'm saying. Im telling BHVR to prioritize fixing their game and making more ethical desicions instead of screwing players because of corporate interests. A message that would benefit everyone, from the company themselves, to the players direct experience.
-
@NoShinyPony said:
BHVR is a company which wants to earn money, not a charity. I guess you understood why they make the decisions they are making.
As long as the playercount stays at least constant, there is no reason for BHVR to change what they are doing.
Hello Games is a company too, but one that is doing well because of ethical practices. Ones that BHVR can use and make themselves look way better.
The player count may not remain so consistent (in a negative trend) if they keep acting in the same way.

"I want Dead By Daylight to succeed. It has the potential to make its' mark, ..."
Where have you been the last 3 years?
--
I'm really been finding the forums as a treasure trove of hilarity the last week or so once that ruin change was announced. I've never seen so many fascinating posts going on about nonsense, trying to hide their true intention stating... "THEY CHANGED MY RUIN! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?"
It sounds like you don't play killer much. Especially to the level required at rank 1.
Survivor, the role of it, keeps being dumbed down. Survivor perks cover up for tactics that killers could potentially use, and the majority of complaints is against killer perks.
This is an open letter. Its my opinion on the matter, and who doesn't want general fixes and for the Devs of a game to treat those who spend the most time on it well? It just doesn't make sense to me how those who play longer (specifically those who play killer) get screwed by desicions BeHavior makes. I will not apologize for my opinion and what I see of the game I want to succeed.

The game has already been more successful than you could ever imagine, I don't know what makes you think you're so much better than them when all there is to it is a lack of skill from your part.
Grow up, reading this made me shiver in cringe.
I don't think you quite realize the state of the game, sure, it's way better than it was at launch, but all these anti-veteran changes and dumbing down of the game is just going to make a shallow experience.
The Ruin change is a sign of many of the things to come. They changed spirit and Nurse so now it is a lot harder to play as them, and they made these changes without regard to console players.
I recommend listening to what SpaceCoconut has to say on the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMhsUUBdbeY
If you find it cringy, I'm sorry my passion for the game sounds that way. But it's just because I see this as a completely unique thing that I don't want to disappear because of corporate greed.

They should buff all killer addons. Having a great red addon like Huntress and then having to run around with one axe is ridiculous, and to have three you need to use another addon that are purple so you waste great addons to get three axes? Buff buff buff!
Most survivors want an easy game. I'm the kind of survivor that wants a challange or this game will get so boring. Buff all killers and their addons but don't you dare keep on nerfing to please todays gamers, they are just spoilt and lazy.
Us that started playing games in early 80s know how much more fun games were in that time, and they were a challange and our brains needs challanges. That is what people today have lost. Why go shopping in the store when you can order stuff to be delivered to your door right? 🙄
Now, I wouldn't mind if addons were changed to be stronger. I hate what they did to Spirit and Nurse. Bubba's addons are a joke. They all need to be stronger than they are, since now their default kit is just pathetic.
Challenge can be a good thing, but frustration because of an unwinnable one is not (and this is coming from a Soulsborne player).
-
Those addons make the game more of a 1v4, like it is supposed to be.
Rather, if they were changed, I'd want the game to be balanced. I'd want every killer to be able to do well perkless if the player was skilled enough.

I had a match against a demogorgon where they were trying to get adept and basically just got zippo the entire match.
the "toxic" dwelf, after being bodyblock guided to the door even had to go back to the killer just to be downed so they could DS them....
Well in the endgame chat I said to the killer "good luck with the next match" as I knew this was a terrible match for them.
The Dwelf said: "he was going for the achievement"
I said "yes.... which is why im wishing him good luck on getting that in the next game(s)'
the Dwelf said: "he did not get it?"
This is a 1400 hour playtime Dwelf and he did not know at all the requirements of what it takes to get adept killer....
He apperently though you would just get it by playing one time with only the killer perks, thats it.
I have never encountered a player more worthy of the title " survivor main".
Sounds like he's never tried for any of them.
-
When they say Bubba is too strong, DS and BT need buffs. That's the biggest clue.
In all seriousness, it's mostly their attitude. A lot of survivor mains are very elitist, expecting the easy win, and being toxic more so than other types of players.
Now, I wouldn't expect a 4k to just drop in my lap, but I have to earn it. Every game is always in the balance.
Survivor mains (at least the true survivor mains I'm discussing here) don't really want balance. They expect to use their perks (Which are always Adrenaline, BT, DS, and Exhaustion perk of your choice.) and expect the killer to just deal with it.
-
I main Julie, I mean, Legion. I like the idea of running around and stabbing people. The ability to vault quickly and get information that other killers dont get access to is a big plus as well.

maybe because it isn't just annoying to new players, but to old ones like me. DS was annoying to killers and was changed, instaheals were annoying and changed, and even the instagen add on was annoying and changed due to that reason. they are looking to fix stuff and make the game more fun for everyone, they are working on a rank rework through chapter 15 if you look at their year plan that was released back right before chapter 12 before the freddy rework.
i understand that hex ruin was nice for slowing the game down but it made it very annoying to deal with as someone who has more than 50 days = 1200 hours played on mostly survivor and more recently, killer, with the new doc changes and ruin being changed im gonna start playing more killer since it seems more appealing, alot of stuff is going to be changed in the new year to help both sides.
this new change is not bad, it will just have them see how messed up the game is and fix the core problem which is that there are only one main objective for survivors which can cause killers to get easily gen-rushed. most of the problem is due to matchmaking so once it gets its rework everything should be almost good.
I'd argue the DS is way more annoying now than it was before. It's way too easy to abuse.
-
Isn't RNG fun? XD

i like their idea of new ruin.
it could be buffed a little, honestly, though i am happy with what they did there.
what i am NOT happy with is that they implemented it now.
they should have waited until they came up with an solution to fix the ridiculous survivor objective time.
but just taking away something mandatory to many many players without compensating for what they took is wrong imo.
This is the main issue I have with the ruin changes. Its actually a good idea... but like most things beHavior... not at the right time.
-
You'll probably ignore this question, but I'll ask this anyway:
Ruin was designed to help killers with gen times. Like Bloodlust, it was a bandaid patch for a key issue.
Are you going to adress the main issue behind the perk's introduction? Or are you going to change the game to a late game hex (most of those are weak/useless unless in very specific builds) without addressing the issue of how efficiently gens can get done?
If anything, this will encourage gen rushers since they cannot afford to lose progress.

You forgot about balanced landing. Brings it up to:
Killer favored:2
Survivor favored:5
Still, that's a perk, not the core mechanics of survivors.
I could balance that out by saying ruin is getting gutted, but that implies that BL was a requirement to play survivor in high ranks which isn't true (you can play without ruin in red, but ruin gives a killer a lot of early game breathing room, which is usually really bad for most killers...).

No, that would make them too much common knowledge ;-)
Well, it's the least they could do. Besides, most people don't actively look for them in a match.
-
Sole Survivor: NO. A survivor already has a great amount of control over a match, no need to directly interfere with the killer.
BT: Keep it as is, but only have a few uses. (1, 2, 3)
Lighting Offerings: They should only interact with survivors. Killers need the lighter brightness, but survivors could have this be atmospheric.
Object: I don't think this needs to be like this. As it is now, It's fine. Most of my builds use Dark Devotion, so it's fine for me.
Left Behind: No. You have Plunderer's for that.
Surge: 8% regression isn't enough. make it 28% percent so it does something to gens besides just the explosion.
Map design isn't as easy as that, but those are good ideas.
I think all offerings should be secret.
Luck as a mechanic needs an overhaul.
Your idea of special offerings sounds like Killer power cosmetics. But I don't think it'll work with a lot of killers.
-
@Colton147 said:
The lack of red ranked killers are due to them AFKing to purposely demote to stomp people below their skill level. It would be best for all red rank survivors to also purposely demote as well. If killers can demote, then why not survivors?
That's not necessarily true. I know a good amount of them just don't want toxic survivors every match, where everyone has at least three of the same perks. It gets old real fast to see DS, BT, Adrenaline every match.
-
I agree with the sentiment, but overall there have been more killer nerfs than survivor ones in recent history. Nurse, Spirit, Oni, and Freddy Nerfs, plus a Legion rework (3rd in a row, but isn't great or bad). Compare that to Instaheal removal.
Those who were great with Nurse still can be, but the overall opinion is that Nurse isn't fun.
Spirit isn't either since they got rid of what made her fun, the ability to be unpredictable. She just feels really slow when phasing now.
Killer favored: 1
Survivor favored: 5
I think the tally more or less shows the truth of the situation.

It would be cool if it was retrievable and gave you a few shards or bp or something. You pick it up and it disappears in your hands, you gain the bonus after the match ends kinda thing.
Maybe it gives a Bloody Party streamers boost for everyone or something.

What's a golden toolbox? You talking about the rarity color or are there actual golden toolboxes?
It's a literal golden toolbox. An easter egg placed on most maps, but one with no real value... except it being a cool little thing. It's like the IWHBYD or Grunt Birthday Party Skulls in Halo. It's a nice touch...
... although I get the sentiment of being annoyed at them paying more attention for easter eggs than bugs/glitches, but that's bEhavior for you.

Ok so basically
1. Bring the broken not fun Mori every game. Not to mention NOED which is super fun as it rewards killer for doing nothing whole game. Similar to hatch rly.
2. & 3. Use only god tier killer and perks like a tryhard.
Great. Where's my fun?
In high level play, Moris are basically a gamble. Half the time, a survivor DCs, so the game doesn't start, a quarter of the time, you don't catch the same person twice since the survivors know to genrush to oblivion to counter you, and the last quarter you actually get one or two, never all 4 with an ebony.
NOED, as @Outland described, is not a guarantee, especially in high ranks where people will break all totems they see. You are running with only 3 perks (that's if you don't use Blood Warden or Remember Me, or any number of semi-useless killer perks.

I never said killer's are on a good spot right now, I'm against the ruin nerf too but wanting to ruin other people's games just because the devs made a stupid decision is ridiculous... And no if you don't play both sides you can't really be talking about nerfs or buffs at all, you can't look at the game just from one perspective that's my whole point
It is true there are killers who have terrible map pressure and have to rely on ruin in order to actually be able to do something but killers like Freddy, Billy, Nurse, Spirit or even Demogorgon don't really need it because they have really good map control
Demogorgon needs it. He's too clunky to be good at the moment. But then again, maybe you've mastered them in a way I have not, so that can change based on the person. : P
My only criticism of your previous comment was that you were gatekeeping people from the conversation and it is not really helpful in the slightest.
-
Something to be added so gens aren't the only thing survivors have to do. This would make the ruin changes less... ruinous for killers, and would give survivors more to do.
Honestly, if gens weren't going as quickly as they do, then I wouldn't have an issue with Ruin being changed...
I would also want to buff Huntress' Lullaby to not be a Hex, and same with TOTH, since they have no reason to be.
-
I could point out the prevalence of DS, BT, Adrenaline, And other exhaustion perks (mainly Sprint Burst and Dead Hard)... but others are already saying this for me.
DS is very easy to abuse still, same with BT.
Your position really isn't defendable...

You can't "take a stand" if you're a killer main, same thing for survivor mains, you have to play both sides in order to "take a stand" buddy. Only people who have been in both situations can talk about nerfs or buffs, and that's just the way things are
I mean, I get where you're coming from, but killers who know what they're talking about should at least be able to talk about how not to buff/nerf killers?
I play both sides, but killer is not in a great place right now... not as bad as launch, but still...

Honestly, all that's gonna do is make even more people complain about matchmaking as everyone will just assume they are being matched with yellow ranks.

I was getting 4ks by rank 15 killer. As survivor it took until rank 8 where I could outlast a good chase.
You don't play much high rank killer, have you? It's almost never easy for them... not if they aren't using good addons/other perks.

Splinters, I believe, were only for licensed killers, and specific ones at that (Myers, Freddy, Pig, Leatherface).
-
Sometimes, when survivors are in a SWF, they'll try to go for pallet/flashlight saves, so if you pick up at the wrong time... it'll end up worse for them as the killer. It's so that you can have a chance to check around or be able to listen and dictate where you can pick when you want to pick them up.
-
It doesn't matter, especially on console as people will just party up in their own groups instead of just trusting on other survivors having coms.

Then explain how killer mains like Otz do well without Ruin?
Ruin isn't necessary to win, it simply gives you the chance for a better chance (it can break instantly, or last the entire game. All random chance). My favorite builds for Red ranks don't have Ruin, but it has Corrupt Intervention for a similar reason.
Just because it's powerful doesn't mean it is for everyone... but the Dev's solution for Ruin's popularity is simply at the wrong time.

All these people saying "they will learn", I don't know what games you've been playing, but the game shouldn't be difficult to play at the start. It should be easy through out, and require no work from me to get better at it.
