Oh yeah - in regards to you first point, just because i've seen a bunch of posts bring up the 12 hook think a few times today - I'm willing to bet that out of all games that end in a 4k, probably around ~5% of them involve the killer getting 12 hooks.

Yeah, most of mine at R1 level play involve around 11-9 hooks in a 4k, just because I don't always hook everyone 3 times.

  • @McLightning said:

    There's a perk for that.

But that's countered by an even stronger survivor perk. : P

  • I had a doc that catapulted 5 ft. away from a pallet when I stunned them... but that was a weird case.

  • Honestly, before the changes, I never used ruin, but survivors seem determined to complete them faster now. It's harder even though I never used that hex. Even still, I can 4k, it just requires way more sweat and toxicity. It just seems not worth it to be a high rank killer anymore.

Also, I've been bringing NOED more because of the increased speed.

  • I play Julie, not Suzie... but here's my build: Dying Light, BBQ, Corrupt Intervention, and Dark Devotion. You will need one ruler addon to get Frenzy back quickly for it to count.

Note: This build works based on how you can take advantage of Dark Devotion. If you find the obsession first, great! Smack them then look for others. If you don't, frenzy and try to find them. Then smack with frenzy, then normally. Dark Devotion only triggers with normal attacks. Downing and hooking non-obsessions will therefore sync with Dying light (you won't be hooking the obsession, just smacking them every so often) and help with slowdown. Corrupt just helps you with getting your first couple downs for DL. And BBQ is to keep it rolling.

Dark Devotion is a lot like the Spanish Inquisition. Nobody expects this.

I'd recommend a cosmetic where you don't stand out as Legion (no day of the dead, no neon, and no sweaters. Frank or Julie is recommended due to their similar to survivor look. Joey's too big, and Suzie looks too distinct). I'd recommend the suspended Julie cosmetics for this. They're muted and can hide better on more open maps (especially well on macmillan).

One last thing, don't expect KI to be reliable with this build... Dark Devotion messes with it. Since it transfers the TR, it also transfers the KI readings... So... that's a thing. You have to be good with Legion to really use this build to it's fullest.

  • The only thing I would want to see is a cooldown on it... make it more of a strategic perk than a spam-ish perk.

Add an option to buy Bloodpoints/levels for Auric Cells, for example

No. Hell no. No need to give Behavior the idea that the game should be pay to win.

  • Surprisingly enough, Billies. I've been camped more by them than by any other killer, and they always have BBQ & NOED.

  • Mine is a shortening of my Xbox Gamertag: Ravenpaw14

That name has a long history and one I don't want to bore you all with.

  • Ruin was and still is necessary for the game's health. They changed it at the wrong time because the game's core isn't balanced in a healthy way. Now I see gens getting done in record time, just in case there was a ruin at play.

  • Yes. It buys time for me to get dying light stacks or a couple of downs, which is more than enough to put pressure on them.

To bad i dont have any contempt. I just disagree. Kinda ironic im being called bias and overconfidence. I literally played all weekend and every single game had a minimum of two kills and those were rare. Mostly 3 and 4 Ks. Playing both sides. And i literally used a lvl 1 bbq on myers at rank 10 (havent been able to play to much since reset) and while context certainly is relevant and not all stereotypes are true, my 10 year minorly mentally challenge sister understands that concept. You are not special for recognizing that.

Still not seeing any points for killer side, still aimlessly being toxic which is as you said "me stereotyping you incorrectly" and "overgeneralizing" and i really wanna hear your opinions on how an average of 3 kills a game at rank 10 with one lvl 1 perk against some games that probably had swfs is unfair play. Im not exactly top lvl but its not like i havent been there. ALL weekend. Average of 3ks (most of the 2ks were me playing as killer) i want you too look at my sample of playing from rank 12 to rank 10 for an entire weekend against some games that probably had swf (the mortal unbeatable weakness of all killers) and tell me that averaging 3 kills in almost all of them is a survivor weighted game. You can keep saying that im hateful and filled with hate. But no matter how much you say it, to no surprise, its still isnt true. I dont hate you or any killer main, im legitamently just asking for type of consistent evidence. The last data released by behavior showed every killer but nurse averaging between two to three kills each game, with freddy getting MOSTLY getting 3ks at the top of the food chain. How in the face of those statistics can killer mains still say this is survivor biased game. Both mine and behaviors.

''Killers are always b*tching about this and that.'' You are just generalizing all killer players as whiners... which is more what survivors did with Nurse (her addons did need a change, but not her base... especially with how they didn't check how she would work on console first).

''But God, the literal, not even an exaggeration, unending aimless pointless b*tch that survivors are just privileged.'' You are pointing out an argument that is common to hear: That those who only play survivor feel like they deserve an escape... have you listened to survivor mains? I've received lots of salty messages that reinforce that claim. Killer mains have a similar problem with 4ks, but that's less justified based on current mechanics. You don't provide evidence with how it's wrong. If you listed a person who said that, and said it was wrong, you wouldn't need proof, but since you didn't specify anyone, you have the burden of proof to find evidence of your claim. How are survivors not priviliged? They have many perks to give second chances, and exhaustion perks extend chases (and for killers, time is everything).

''This is how killer mains look to the rest of the world.'' It's really not. This is not public opinion, with most killers giving good suggestions to issues/balance. Not just on the forums, but other methods of communication (xbox live, youtube vids/comments, etc.). If you do not see them, then you must not have been paying attention or sticking to very specific subjects.

And Survivors are catered to. Ruin was changed because it frustrating for survivors, Doc was changed to make it less frustrating for survivors (the actual word they used in the patch notes)... Nurse was changed because of survivor pressure, same with Spirit. Pig was nerfed 8 times in a row without anyone from the dev team mentioning how they'd give something to Pig...

If you don't see the symptoms of the problem, then you'll never be able to see the problem. And the toolbox nerf will not fix the main issue which is default gen times/map size.

  • Survivor: Head On. It's the only exhaustion perk I respect people for using because of how bad the hitbox can be for it (or the timer taking one millisecond too long).

Killer: Dark Devotion. It's my favorite perk for killer at the moment, as it allows you to take full advantage of Legion's ability to slug and get DD to proc at the same time. This allows one to really hide and get the first strike easily. Especially since they look the most similar to survivors. It also works well with Dying Light, since you don't hook the obsession, but you can still go after them for a good benefit. It even works on SWF groups, even if they know you have it, since it keeps them on their toes for 60 seconds.

  • Because it's very tedious to play as her, especially on console. She's technically strong, but there are times where the cooldown actively lengthened chases that could've ended by then. It's frustrating and not worth it. Also, being able to outrun a nurse by running in a straight line is a bit of a stupid thing to know.

  • @Mandy said:

Yes the surveys are read and the information collated.

I find it funny that you guys ask us if we compare ourselves to our favorite character, but don't separate the members of the Legion. XD

Also, you ask about stress and don't specify which side gets the stress. Because killer gets a lot more stress from gameplay than survivors do in my experience.

Basically, this is making the Evader emblem represent skill in stealth and chases more accurately. 😁

I really hope a developer will see this, but I don't know, I'm not faithful at the moment. 😕

Well, I play stealthy hen I do play survivor so that's a plus!

Yeah, kind of doubt that, to be honest.

Killers can't deny Adrenaline? Yes they can. Don't let the gens get done. And if they do, a good killer should have half or 3/4 players killed by then.

Not in the traditional sense. And not with how quickly they can all get done, especially at red ranks.

There is no way to counter Adrenaline like people can deny NOED. It just doesn't have the possibility.

  • Sure. Legion's mask is cool. : D

  • On console, she's basically dead. It's hard enough with the blink mechanics, but now that she can't blink instantly, her usefulness is very reduced.

  • Sure, these are good changes. I don't play survivor often, but they seem good.

Killers always bitching about how survivors are catered to but dont see things like the upcomming toolbox nerf at all related to the unrelenting, LITERALLY never ending bitching that is in all its entirety of ever killer main on this forum. As of the most recent stats (which probably have swayed alittle bit since then, i dont know if its been updated) killers have been averaging at MINIMUM 2 kills per game. And these mother #########êrs start SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS. DEMANDING that the game made to be more favorable for them. Like if you want to talk about the difficulty of pipping or how there may be some survivor based loops which are completely debatable. But god the just LITERAL, not even an exaggeration, UNENDING aimless pointless bítch that survivors are just "privleged" jesus christ man, if people want to gather data and make a legitament arguement to contend against survivors, i get it, i want that. I DESPERATELY LONG FOR IT. Like you have no idea how bad i want that, but you guys wonder why the devs dont listen despite 80 percent of the posts here from killers (which is funny cause i never see survivor mains in here hardly. So the embodiment of of this forum is represented by killer mains bítching with no notable evidence aside from "this guy said this on a forum i read that is partially misinterpretted") crying for survivor nerfs and killer buffs. NOT EVEN GIVING SUGGESTIONS. Like asking for an improvment is one thing but raging and crying and screaming that something NEEDS to happen but giving nothing for ideas that are actually balanced and me as a person who loves playing both sides and who has what i consider a fairly nuetral perspective and understands alot of the underlying issues (which beleive it or not isnt just "survivors are cattered to") like the monster amount of bugs, retative gameplay and such, I want to converse and debate and theorize but theres nothing to debate with apes screaming about how unfair theyre being treated. I mean seriously, like i said. This is how killer mains look to the rest of the world and you arent going to get any type of changes by just screaming louder and crying more tears. You just wont, im not trying to discourage you, as i feel ive shown, i want talk and debate these things but you just cant keep crying and expecting people to listen.

1st... massive paragraph, should probably break that up so more people will read it.

2nd... all I see is survivor bias and overconfidence with a very vocal minority of that subset. In turn, you are making survivors look bad too by overgeneralizing, stereotyping all of us as the exact same.

3rd... you have some good points about balance, but it's all hurt by your utter contempt of killer players.

DS, BT, and Adrenaline are fine by themselves. Its only when used in means outside of the anti tunneling intended by the devs, that most complaints come from. They are hardly used as anti-tunneling skills at red ranks, they are used in a manner to give survivors 2 minutes or so of invulnerability or get out of jail free cards against the killer. SWF all running meta perks can trade off those 2 minutes of invulnerability that essentially makes the killer useless. Its usually done at EGC if well executed by the survivors.

And if you are bitching about Dead Hard as a killer you are a straight up rank 20 killer. its by far the one perk survivors have that rewards skillful play and execution, especially when the dedicated servers take a #########.

You can slug all you want but when you slug 3 survivors after a team bodyblocks an unhook with BT, DS and Adrenaline, and that one BT unhook taps a 99'd gen, all 3 of those slugs now turn into the Flash.

Its the not the perks that cause frustration its how they are used at higher ranks, that causes frustration.

As a Killer main, I dont blame any survivor for running these perks or using them in this manner. They are there to be used and if you are not using them, then you are gimping yourselves. Its up to the devs to balance their game.

    This.

Most killers I know don't hate DS because they always tunnel, but because it's far more versatile than it deserves to be.

BT and DH are annoying, but hardly game breaking, but getting a 4man adrenaline is just not even very fair. The only counter is NOED, even then that's a gamble. Killers can't deny Adrenaline, and survivors can counter NOED. Not only that, but NOED is also ridiculed heavily when Adrenaline isn't. It's a bit of a double standard, and I think that's the main reason why killers complain about survivor perks.

They see that survivor perks get way more love than killer ones. In the last Dev Q&A, they mentioned perks they're planning to buff, and there was 1 killer perk and 5 survivor ones.... right after the loss of one of the strongest killer perks in the game. People are salty. Hell, I'm a little salty about Ruin's change, since the change doesn't adress the main reason for Ruin's introduction into the game.

There are 2 exceptions for survivors.

    Quentin and Kate.

Quentin accidentally summoned the entity when he wished Freddy gone.

And Kate's connection to the earth around her summoned the entity

Quintin: I thought it's his connection to Freddy, not because of a wish.

Kate: I thought it was just because she was alone in the woods, just like Meg, Jake, and Claudette's disappearance conditions.

And both have a high capacity for hope. Something the Entity would be very interested in.

  • That's not exactly the hardest thing to do. Legion Pips well enough.

God killer mains are the whiniest and most entitled players of all.

I’ve been playing solo a lot recently and you lose game after game after hame after game after game. I have to put in so much effort, come top of the scoreboard everytime but can not carry my team of numpties to victory.

Do you see me complaining? Or asking for buff after buff? Or nerf after nerf after nerf?

No I suck it up and deal with it.

Killers are fine right now. I play solo and the chance of escaping is about 10%. I play killer against red ranks and I can still do ok. Win most games and normally guaranteed 2k minimum.

Sure 4 people all on comms can be annoying on some maps but by and large most survivors groups are fine.

Is that because the killer is strong or because they outplayed you with the limited mechanics of the game?

Some killers actually do need buffs: Pig was nerfed 8 times in a row, Nurse and Spirit had unjustified changes that only survivor mains wanted...

That and there is a massive amount of second chance and exhaustion perks that can be absolutely abused if used correctly.

I would love to see other survivor perks buffed so others aren't predictable/seen as much just for more variety.

Meh, my experience with ruin...it was found in a minute. If you look at my history and see a topic I created a while back. All killers told me not to rely on ruin. Then the second its nerfed they're the most hypocritical people acting like it was the wall stopping the game from breaking. The loudest wheel gets the oil. Ruin didnt make a difference then, it really doesnt make a difference now. Only difference now is you are forced to commit to a gen or it regresses so fast. I like new ruin better than old because it didnt bother people in lower ranks. People just like to whine

They said you shouldn't rely on it, not that you shouldn't use it. All it was supposed to do was buy time for you to apply pressure to where you don't need it.

But then they changed Ruin to a late game hex. Let that sink in.

Was it not recently on another thread that you got on to me because you assumed I said people who needed ruin are bad? Yet here you are doing the same thing. And I for one care a lot about whether both sides have fun that's why I refuse to use thing like moris that pretty much shut the other side out of the game. Don't speak for the rest of us just because you don't care.

There are a lot of people who are like this: The change of ruin puts bad killers in their place...

That's not what ruin did before the change. It only bought time, not win games. Even then, there is no killer perk that really helps killers make up for mistakes. Not like survivor perks can, anyway...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1036591#Comment_1036591

It's a combination of factors. Self-Care being so highly used isn't a big deal, because it's not breaking anything. But Ruin being so highly used was more of an issue because of its warping effect on the entire game experience.

Out of curiosity, did the devs ever investigate the reasoning for ruin's high usage in higher ranks before deciding to change it?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    "only 4%"...

Sure Buddy. Meanwhile there are Streamers who are Rank 1 with Pig or (old) Doctor every season. But I guess you were talking about those two Killers?

Some people don't main one or two killers, but can play as all of them decently, if not well.

Most people will not master every killer in the game to the degree of Monto, Tru3, or Otz (even though I think all of them still have a way to go with certain killers... main ex. being Legion).

That being said, the killers that have the best chance right now are: Nurse, Billy, and Spirit (although it's debatable with the Spirit nerf). Most of the players specialize in those ones. You'll see the occasional Huntress and Oni, but that's about it.

  • @Peasant said:

Here's the thing, the new Hex: Ruin will regress and DOUBLE the REGRESSION speed of generators are not being worked on.

However, this buff is actually rather weak since survivors usually split up. So, if the game starts and 4 survivors start working on 4 different generators (a standard start) the killer is still pretty screwed.

Here's why this is a problem, suppose the OG boy, the Trapper is the killer. He finds and begins chasing one survivor shortly after the trial starts, maybe he trapped a loop or two on his way to the generator. Now 1 of the 4 generators is not being repaired. This generator is now regressing at double speed. Cool, cool. However, the other three generators are now going full steam ahead since they are not getting regressed at all and those survivors have no reason to stop repairs assuming the first one found is a competent looper. So if the survivors play smart, your perk, a HEX mind you, is now worthless.

So going forward, time to "git gud" folks as downing and hooking survivors is the only real way to slow down gen repairs now. I will expect a sudden surge in Pig Mains (followed by a RBT nerf) and an sharp spike in NOED use (followed by a sudden change for that as well.)

(Don't get me wrong, I think that the change isn't their worst perk gutting or killer gutting (Shudders in Year of the Hound event. I also agree that the skill check regression needed to change if we want to have more survivors available. I just wish that the devs had gone about the change differently.)

Doubling pitiful regression speed barely does anything.

  • If anything, it will keep people on gens as they don't wish to lose progress.

  • There are already a lot of counters:

    Lockers

    Gen Auras

    Distortion

    Sole Survivor

Them moving one way then heading another (misdirection)

    Being close to the killer...

Limited uses (12 in total, but only 11 useful ones)

There is no reason to limit an already limited perk.

  • Soulsborne, Minecraft, Halo, Doom. Maybe Doom Eternal or Code Vein if the game keeps going the way it is.

  • Having fun in a match. If most of the match, I'm content and had a lot of fun, then It's a good match. If I feel like the survivors (or killer) were being overly toxic/ using cheap tricks and I couldn't have a good match because of the abuse of those... then It was a waste of time and a loss.

  • No. It's frustrating for killer play a lot of the time, and survivor is generally unbalanced (and good survivors will play toxic to varying degrees). Due to this, killers worth their salt will play dirty, meaning less fun for survivors as well.

It also doesn't cater toward veterans nor does it cater to beginners. There is very little reward for a high amount of skill and knowledge required to play.

  • I'd rather have the ability to sell addons/offerings for BPs that I don't want.

  • Pig was nerfed 8 times for essentially no reason. She deserves a buff.

I can't speak for anyone else, but the Ruin change isn't what had me mad. For all I care, they could delete Ruin; I've never used it.

The problem is that for many updates in a row, not a single core-game issue has been addressed, and more issues have been introduced.

Dedicated servers have been delayed for nearly half a year. Completely unbalanced, massive maps remain unchanged; so many of them have linkable loops that last forever. Every single update bugs the sound and multiple Killer powers. Keys, Moris, and Toolboxes still exist.

It just gets tiring after being around for so long and seeing no core issues fixed.

This. Plus a lot of the changes are made without consideration of Console (Nurse Rework basically killed Nurse on Console, and there weren't many who played her to begin with.

  • @Feyd said:

I honestly don't see how people are having a hard time now. I played 5 killer games last night, 2-4 red rank survivors each game, and. One was a full red SWF. I only had 4 escapes the entire night. One hatch, three on Badham.

First game was Legion on the swamp, 4k.

Next was Wraith without add-ons on the chapel map. 4k.

Then three games as Doc, the first one I used NOED and that was the game with 3 escapes and the only game with more than 3 gens being completed.

The other two were horrible 4k slaughters using the ruin/surveillance combo on the Game and Ironworks. The one on the Game map was the SWF and ended with 4 Iris and a perfect score.

Double pipped from rank 7 up to 5 with a black pip on the one I 'lost'. I played super nice every game. No camping, no tunneling. I expect to soar through red ranks next time I play.

I don't see why everyone is complaining. None of the games had a high mobility killer and I didn't sweat my ass off either. I don't even consider myself a great killer. If you can't do the same, you aren't as good as you think. I'm happy having switched to main killer in this patch, Doc in particular.

Well, it depends. What were your builds for them? How did they pressure survivors? How is your own skill? What addons did you use (because default legion is worst legion)? What maps did you have? Were you on PC or Console? Are you sure they were/weren't SWF?

There are so many factors in this that your statement doesn't really prove a point without the necessary data.

  • Ruin was a bandaid for issues for killers, like how quickly gens could be completed. They have not adressed these issues, so killers that aren't god tier now suffer.

Now there are builds one can make without ruin, but they are more of a gamble than anything else.

Killers don't have the power role at the moment. The killers are always on a time crunch since the survivors dictate the game, not the killers. Look at the difference between survivor play and killer play by red rank survivors (like Otz, Monto, True, Scott, etc.), with survivors, many of them can listen to music and afford to be more relaxed. Killer play has to be completely focused, as a single mistake can often be the difference between a 4k and a 0k.

Killer also has a much higher skill ceiling than survivor.

  • @Raptorrotas said:

Ill be the guy, but any intentional nerf to BT became negligible by the amount of unintentional buffs that happened by the DW-tweaks.

And not just that, any Change to make BT better directly nerfs one killer that isn't even top tier. A perk shouldn't be able to do that to a killer.

  • @VexTheHex said:

Sabotage murdered, MOM murdered, Gen time increase, Gate time increase, better totems spawns on new maps, Hag buffs, Trapper buffs, Wraith buffs, Freddy reworked stronger, Doc reworked stronger, DS reworked, BT tinkered with, Exhaustion changes, BL nerfs, window blocking mechanic, less pallets, less safe loops, doors on Haddonfield on 2nd floor instead of windows, etc.

I'm tired of the same old "Devs never buff Killers and nerf Survivors" argument.

Nurse Rework, Oni Nerf, Spirit Nerf, BT buff (with Legion nerfs), Trapper is still in a relatively poor state, just like Pig being nerfed roughly 8 times in a row... and now ruin's change.

See, I can do this too!

In all seriousness, survivors had a lot of advantages when the game initially came out. Hell, every window was open, Bloodlust didn't exist, Old Ruin didn't exist, and the killer shack had 2 windows, not a pallet and a window. And the momentum mechanic didn't exist, so it was really easy for a survivor to fast vault a window. Breaking pallets + gens took longer, and some maps were just bigger. That was busted. And the remnants of the old survivor strength still remains today, but the game is fairer due to the changes nerfing survivors.

  • @Almo said:

Pig is in the higher ranges for Killer performance. It's unlikely she need a buff. Having said that, there are a few odd things hanging around (like Ruleset #2) and we'd like to do an addon pass eventually.

Um... I hope you aren't using bad data for this proclamation. It's hard for you guys to collect hard data with a system that gives flawed data regardless.

Many of us are skeptical of this data because it just doesn't take certain things into account. Ruin was used in 80% of games in high ranks. Alright. But why was it used for that percentage?

Then look at survivor perks. DS, BT, Adrenaline, and an exhaustion perk of their choice is often the big combo. I would be curious on the stats for those perks and if any changes would be coming to those to make them more balanced.

  • No. The game has so many mechanical elements to remember already, and maps to understand, loops to know, having passives would not be worth it. They are creative, but not balanced.

Also, Cannibal's encourages proxy camping dying survivors. They will not like that one.

  • I feel like I get outplayed by map RNG or bad perk design than survivors themselves. Every game I'm able to get everyone downed through skill with mindgames and such, but of course the idiot with DS follows me. At least I'll just force them to use it since they have no choice most of the time.

  • Before, I just didn't like how bad she felt to play on console. Then they added the extra cooldown, which has denied me multiple times of a blink that I know would've downed people. That and She just isn't fun for anyone anymore.

1 … 27 28 29 30 31 … 73
