cruel limits blocking for the whole match? Uhhhh... nah man. That’s a little ridiculous

Well, as it is now, it is only useful for 30 seconds at 5 times a match... It also is very map dependant, because Rotten Fields is terrible while Lerys is great for it.

It should live up to its name. I don't think it would be too strong, since it doesn't affect pallets, and most maps don't rely on windows.

Yes, I own the Trapper one. Love that mask to bits.

A shame it's Auric Cells only.

  • It's a way to pass the time while the world burns, floods, and becomes infected around us.

  • Killer:

    1) getting screwed by RNG terrain when you should be able to move through it.

    2) I never see grabs in game except from lockers. They don't work.

    3) 4 DS per match

    4) 4 Adrenaline per match

    5) Seeing how braindead Sprint Burst is.

    6) Getting Sanctum or a Swamp Map. Sanctum is too dark for console to play as any killer except Doc. Swamp maps are cancer.

    7) Survivors sweating extra hard even when I'm not playing seriously.

    8) Having 4 gens pop in 5 seconds, even when I'm chasing someone.

    9) Seeing all perks that the killer can't deactivate/counter as easily as survivor can counter killer equivalent.

    10) Frustrating limitations to killers just because survivors complained (Nurse + Spirit)

    11) No considerations for console when making changes. The Nurse and Spirit changes were not made with console players in mind. Playing as nurse with a controller is straight masochism. The only person on console who actively plays nurse on Xbox that I know of uses a mouse and keyboard, which is considered straight CHEATING.

    Survivor:

    1) See 1 above

    2) Getting tunneled just because I was found first.

    3) When survivor(s) work with the killer without even asking the rest of us if we want to farm (very common on Xbox).

    4) Obscenely long wait times (but that may be due to how few killers there are).

    5) I don't play as much survivor because its not as much fun as killer can be.

These are the things I can think of off the top of my head. They are more catered to console, but I'm sure some of these apply to other platforms too. I hope this helps with your vids! (I like them a lot.) : D

  • My opinions on these perks (and your suggestions).

Unrelenting: I think this perk is fine. It's really good on Spirit (although it can be decent for all killers) and can recover just enough to catch people before they can get to a loop. You may not see a change, but I do.

Overwhelming Presence: Combine this with the increased item drain of the perk as it is now, and you'll have a decent perk!

Insidious: Instead of just losing the TR, maybe transfer it to the hooked survivor, similar to Dark Devotion.

Cruel Limits: All vaults near repaired gens are blocked by the entity for the rest of the match. Does not apply to pallets.

Beast of Prey: Survivors in a chase suffer from Obliviousness.

Mindbreaker: Raise that timer to 5/10/15 seconds, and it'll be decent.

Furtive Chase: the main benefit is the ability to change obsessions. However, adding your suggestion to the perk would make it quite nice.

  • @Inji said:

    Killer inspired clothing for survivors

Or ocean inspired clothing for killers :D

Doesnt trapper have an ocean inspired one already? Same with Billy?

  • Unpopular Opinion: A Jeff the Killer Legion cosmetic. A kid in a white hoodie and black jeans with a twisted smile running after survivors... Coul even be explained as a halloween costume if they wanted. : D

And give that set a kitchen knife.

Also, maybe some more Lovecraftian looks for killers. That would be cool.

All second chance perks have counters. The ONLY combination I can think of that is braindead is DS combined with Unbreakable. But then again you can just not tunnel or if you obliged them to use one this perks they just play with 3 rest of the game. Also the hell you mean Unbreakable has no counter. Just don’t slug at all. That is such a Situational perk it’s kinda funny killer mains are crying so much about it. Well, I shouldn’t be surprised if you used Space Coconut incredibly flawed second chance perk videos. I enjoy his videos but sometimes his bias towards killers annoys the absolute ######### out of me, especially when he said the DC ban system is “good”.

Adrenaline gives you a free health state for doing all five gens. You know The survivors objective. It doesn’t give them a health state for “nothing”. Is it annoying? Yes. But it won’t always work throughout a particular chase and the survivor won’t always survive the game just because of it.

BT is pretty strong for sure especially endgame. What I do is always chase the survivor who unhooked him in my face just so I don’t risk activating it. I have gotten at least one final extra kill by doing this even in the endgame. You just have to hope they are far away from the gates.

In terms of DS, it can only be strong if more than Two survivors have it. Though I will definitely appreciate if they change it for only one survivors being able to have it activated at a time: Like maybe the DS timer will immediately reach zero if a second survivor is unhooked. That would definitely make it much less abusable. Though this DS is a blessing compared to pre nerf DS. I still have nightmares about survivors jumping of my shoulder just because they want to. This DS is much more manageable or at least I thought so until I enter the forums and seeing daily complains about it XD. It’s quite interesting.

DS + Head On is pretty annoying too, but at least it can be once a game.

My definition of a counter: There is a way for a person (survivor or killer) to deactivate or mitigate a perk/mechanic. There is no way to stop unbreakable from being a possibility. There is no way to really stop adrenaline from helping survivors unless they have NOED or an instadown ability. Pair DS with Second Wind and you have a dangerous situation that isnt easy to counter.

@SpaceCoconut tries to be objective but at least admits when he doesn't know something. That's better than most people. But it does explain why second chance perks for survivors are stronger than they are for killer.

Many survivor perks cannot be countered by the killer, and most can't be predicted by the killer. Such as perks like Empathy, Better Together, Kindred, Aftercare, or Bond. These perks allow survivors to work more efficiently but don't let the killer know (I wouldn't call these perks uncounterable, just unpredictable).

Id argue that old DS had a counter while this one doesn't: Dribbling. I became very good at it.

This is not a conversation about him maybe downing a survivor or how he can or how easily you can dodge a chainsaw. So many of you are way off the topic.

But that is directly related to how strong he is, and therefore, how he should be balanced. The only reason you might not want to acknowledge this is to prove your own argument for a mechanic that doesn't need to exist. Holding the chainsaw can be used to force a bad decision and having an overheat mechanic gets rid of the only mindgame potential of his power.

Bubba needs a rework, in all honesty, but limiting his normal kit is not the solution.

Besides, I forgot to add this, but @Deadeye has a point: If he continues to rev the saw, hes letting everyone know that he is in a chase or with a person. Everyone knows to work on gens then, since they are not in immediate danger.

If you would do it for Bubba, would you do it for Billy too, since he also has a chainsaw? Both rely on their chainsaws for their power, but billy is stronger just because he can also use his power to navigate the map at incredible speed.

  • Kate Made the survivor theme, and Legion comes up with other Killer themes in their free time.

  • They have bots in the mobile version, Im amazed that they haven't added them in the main version yet.

  • Bubba can be stronger than people realize, but his kit is very weak. Limiting that more is not only a waste of time, but just not necessary.

A survivor can outrun his chainsaw if he doesnt charge it right behind him, windows are a major weakness of his, and even brushing against a wall is enough to make him tantrum... he doesn't need an overheat mechanic anyway.

  • I would love to talk about how fun this game can be, really. I don't like complaining (as a legion main though, that seems to be my lot in life).

I wouldn't complain about DS if it just wasn't so easy to abuse. It's basically a free 60 second period of not being hooked again. It's simply too versatile... for an anti tunnel perk. It doesn't do its job properly at that, since it gives no incentive to go for another who could have it, but the weak person who you know no longer has it.

BT is brainless as it is now. Oh, run in, and get the save while the killer is by you. Great! Now they are able to run at the killer for 15 seconds without worry, and if the killer waits it out, they can use DS, because who doesn't run it?

Adrenaline is annoying, but seeing everyone gain a health state for no reason is really disheartening, since there is no way to counter that. It just happens, regardless of what the killer does. NOED is the killer equivalent, but it can be preemptively stopped.

These perks are simply not balanced in use at higher level play. They overshadow every other possible perk in the game in sheer power.

The main issue, I suppose, is that killer perks that are strong can be circumvented, while survivor ones cannot... at least not by normal means. Adrenalines counter is NOED. Unbreakable has no counter. DS has no counter except leave them alone or risk the stun. Deliverance can't be predicted, BT has no counter except for something like DS, ignore or suffer the consequences...

@SpaceCoconuts vid on this is pretty good, as to why survivor second chance perks are so strong.

People just lag switch or lag the bloodweb to detour you in lobby. Not at all a problem. I never get those games in Queensland as well. Wonder if I have seen you playing before?

Maybe... I play both killer and survivor.

This isn't about Amanda's Letter. This is about Amanda's Secret. The one that takes away the Jigsaw Box auras.

Oh. Then I would do way better without that addon.

I love not realizing what Im talking about... XP

  • I, No joke, got 1000 ping in a game here once. This isn't even funny anymore...

I kind of miss the old BT. I liked that you really had to think about when you used it as you only had it once a match. So many people just grab other survivors from the hook instantly now if they have BT and it's annoying to witness / have it done to you.

I also dont like the fact that BT will now influence how TWO killers are balanced (Legion and Deathslinger).

  • Legion: Corrupt Intervention, Dying Light, Dark Devotion, and BBQ.

Other Killers: Nemesis, Rancor, Enduring, and BBQ

Survivor: Head On, Inner Strength, Were Gonna Live Forever, and Adrenaline (this one can be changed depending on what I want).

You can probably accomplish the same thing but better going with no add-ons.

True, I'm no pig main, but I've had fun with Amanda's Letter... and I could probably do better with the common addons that effect her dash and ambush...

  • When the killer tunnels me first when my idiot teammates fast vaulted near me.

  • @danielbird11 said:

It may not be toxic but it is a d**k move. I'm sick of bad entitled killer mains thinking the only way to win is to ruin the fun for survivors. Think about it. Your wasting your money you used to buy this game to stare at someone till they die. Wow real immersive and engaging experience. So instead of whining for no reason try and get better at killer so you can play the game properly.

I wish survivors thought the same. Think it's fun losing 3 gens within the span of 5 seconds?

  • I mean, there are situations where they force me to tunnel to get them pressure, just like there are situations where they force me to stay right next to the hook because they are swarming it...

  • Its good for indoor maps, since you'll be crouched a lot of the time, and you can approach people quietly... but its more of a fun addon then a powerful one like Iri head. Almost makes me wish it made ambush attacks one shot as well...

Well, when they posted the SWF vs Solo survival rate statistics they were fairly close to even, so I imagine they consider that I guess.

The second thing is that they balance around 2 kill averages, but the problem there is that if they see like 2 SWFs full escape and 2 solos get 4k'd they go "Well that averages to 2 kills a game so that is balanced" which is super flawed logic.

That, and they count dc/hatch escapes as one kill one escape, which is dumb.

Many red rank killers feel like it's to much stress staying in red rank and have quit or switched to survivor. I play red rank with a few killers, although in all honesty it can often be a grind.

Not only this, but it forces killer players to play as certain killers to stand a chance: mainly billies, nurses, or Onis. Spirit used to be decent when her addons were, but they heavily punished those... even the common addons got nerfed...

...and its currently masochism to play as nurse on console right now, so the pool of used killers is way less... although there are some who use mouse and keyboard, which should be called cheating, but...

Give you the achievements, if you don't already have them. Otherwise it's just for bragging rights for the time being.

But @Peantis, these achievements don't exist on Xbox... so there really is no point to them there after the changes...

I've gone through and earned most of them myself, and rank based achievements simply aren't there...

  • I genuinely hate Sanctum of Wrath just because I cannot see anything on there, as killer or survivor. Yamaoka I also dislike because I know it's a lost cause to try to win conventionally.

    On Xbox, btw.

  • I was always a killer main. That's what drew me to the game. The ability to play as iconic characters such as Myers, Freddy, Bubba, the Pig... As well as the Huntress, the erie humming, the ability to be a threat at any distance...

Mainly is was the concept of the hunt. Not being overly strong, but hunting others.

I still have yet to find anything like Legion, Sprinting after survivors ready to stab them repeatedly in order to get the kill...

  • I would love the ability to drag survivors over pallets. I saw that kind of happen in one of True's vids (he was on haddonfield and shot the survivor on the pallet. The guy was dragged over to him).

And maybe less survivor leeway on lateral movement while on the chain.

Nah, I doubt they'll do that lol

Also, being fair, infinite Remember Me was kinda broken.

They could have kept the old version by cutting the tokens in half when the hatch was closed. That would be balanced, but no, just a blanket nerf. : P

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

Hag isn’t the issue. Sadly, survivors just won’t adapt.

That's the main issue: Survivors don't want to adapt to the killer. That's why Nurse and Spirit were gutted, because survivors didn't want to adapt, and did not want counter them.

  • Billy. Not the mechanics, but the people who play him. He always has noed and always camps (even proxy camping)

  • The feel of rushing after a survivor while in frenzy, or the ability to walk up to survivors with Dark Devotion... those two are great.

  • Imagine my shock to see this... Ive only been talking about this for almost a year now? Its as if they haven't listened / cared about high rank balance because they don't play at that rank...

  • Protection hits are easier to get now... so I think MoM is alright... I just wish there was a secondary effect: Obliviousness when you have your stacks.

That way the Survivor leaves themselves at a bit of a disadvantage and the devs can buff the tokens themselves if they want.

  • I would love games that arent just 4 DS, 4 BT, 4 Adrenaline, And 4 Sprint Bursts. That would be nice.

It's actually pretty powerful against stealth killers - I would argue it's better than spine chill for avoiding killers sneaking up on you. Granted, they can see you at all times and you can't see them, but you also know in which direction the killer is at all times. All you need to do is check (and pay attention to) your Los blockers and position yourself accordingly and the killer won't be able to sneak up on you.

It's a pretty busted perk, I'm not going to lie, but it's also extremely fun to run

Object doesn't work on stealth killers. It used to, but not anymore. Besides, they can still approach from another direction throwing you off, so it's hardly reliable.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1132847#Comment_1132847

How do you counter it besides randomly choosing a stealth killer?

    You know... the 3.3/18 killers?

Misdirection or tunneling. Having the knowledge of where 1 player is on the map is very powerful especially in early game. I know that they are confident, but I'm a good killer.

  • Thats kind of the point: The cosmetics show how many points you've put into a character.

Moris and keys are common enough just because they are one of the few ultra rare items/offerings you can get. There is already technically an increased chance to get better addons and stuff when prestiging, so it's not that big a change already...

Although that would mean they'd have to actually balance addons for killers and survivors. Most killer iridescent addons aren't that strong to be honest, and the ones that do would be prioritized...

Overall I don't see any issues with this except on the survivor side.

  • This argument makes me laugh.

    @BulletsNonstop said:

There wouldn’t be this “survivor rule book” if the game just never had some of the things it has now 😂 because it really does seem excessive and unnecessary. Kills are just handed to you with these killer abilities just simply because you found somebody ? That’s really how I felt playing as killer. And I didn’t even have perks on. Wraith I was like, no way these people really don’t have a chance uncloaking and hitting them this fast. No way do any of these guys have a chance with this large terror radius and everyone staying insane giving away their position. It’s fun because you get to wreck everyone. Nahhh, I almost felt bad at some point

Killers, at any rank, are not given kills. Their success is based off of survivor mistakes. The only killer whose power can force survivor mistakes is nurse, and even then she feels to play like how nails on a chalkboard sounds. To say that killers who use their power automatically get downs... is laughable... don't forget Legion exists. Hag traps dont down people by themselves, Trappers traps can only down people with a specific addon. Spirit has to guess where survivors are, same with nurse... Billy has to precisely aim, same as Huntress (and Deathslinger). Half of Demos power is not aggressive and can be deactivated by survivors. Half of Plagues power can be denied by survivors (although that will change next patch). Wraith requires proper positioning, same as GF...

Do you see a pattern here? All of these issues are amplified the higher rank you go.

  • Well, the skill check is the only part of that perk that has any skill at the moment so...

And I don't want it to be stronger because it is already a massive problem at higher ranks as it is now. I dont go a game without at least 3 DSs in a match. It's frankly ridiculous...

  • @Nicholas said:

I find the Blood Orbs annoying but there are things you can do to extend the Chase. My only complaint with him is probably related to latency, he seems to hit very very far and in my experience he should be hitting obstacles like cars but it clips the item and strikes me few meters away. I made a crude graphic on my phone to depict it:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/301/AWE2KV77WB0C.jpg

Ive had the opposite problem playing Oni. There are times where I would have hit the survivor but the Oni hits a wall or something instead. Its like they go from on screen to no in less than a second.

  • I don't see it nearly as much in high ranks just because stealth killers exist... and it basically puts a target on the users back... I mean, there are ways to counter it as well, since its not really abusable...

That reminds me of that book "Warriors" with how its set-up

Bingo, you got to that names origin. : P

One of the characters names is Ravenpaw. He acts basically like I would, and I like how he was written. In short, he's my favorite character.

  • Hairstyles, and clothing were often similar in that time period, but I see it as very unlikely. Evan himself is at least 2 heads taller than david, and in Seattle with his father, while this guy is in London. It's true we don't know about that, but I think it's unlikely he destroyed the mine then went to London to head a crime family.

His father had even less opportunity than that. He ran his mines like clockwork, and he was unlikely to leave.

Even then, Evan was in his 20s (roughly) in the 1940s (could be even earlier, but I'm being generous with my estimation). David is from modern times (with that, David king was a famous rugby player). That would make him at least 100 years old. Uncle Brass looks like he's in his 50s/60s. Evan destroyed the mine and was taken by the entity before Brass was born. Benedict Baker was taken by the Entity in the 1950s (after the 23rd September).

Not really sure why Killers feel so entitled to a 4k, there should always be a chance for a survivor to escape, even if its not that high. The hatch mechanics by themselves are still killer sided because all killers have faster movement speed so they can cover more ground searching for it

If they played well enough to be in a position to get a 4k, they may well deserve it. Especially if you get to higher ranks.

I would also like for them to fix survivors DCing for an instant hatch, but that's never going to happen.

  • I have noticed this. When I'm playing killer that when I lose, it feels more like the map was more survivor sided then I was outmatched by a team's collective efforts. This game should have the side that is a team have to have more teamwork to win. Right now, one survivor can loop the killer for the entire match if they have the right RNG... and it's often on their side.

When I'm survivor, I feel like the killer either was forced to tunnel, forced to use a scummy loadout, or outplayed us massively if they won, and when we escape, it's clearly because RNG was on our side. I don't enjoy survivor anyway, but I don't think I should be at R1 for survivor just because I messed around a little.
