Well, the best way to cook a brisket is wrapped in butcher paper, fatty side up, on low heat and the meaning of life is 42....lol :)

Oh man, for serious? Damn I'm dumb. Thanks!

It's not super-common knowledge. Would be nice if they added something in the game to tell people how to do it. I'm not even sure where I learned it from myself. Always glad to help when I can. :)

It helps if you have the message still and or a screenshot.

    Also was this on Pc/Xbox/Console?

@MandyTalk @Peanits might have some additional advice.

This was on ps4 and yes I have the screen shots of the messages but I cannot access them because it's 2:30 in the morning what should I do in the meantime to help this

Use the submit ticket link and you can also I think contact Sony and let them know since that sounds like a TOS/EULA violation.

It does on 2 points I believe (cheating and disrupting a game either one is bannable via Sony who would be the final judge on the subject). It's possible it violates more, but, I just read the EULA (for science!) and my brain is alittle numb. I concur, report it to Sony.

Gonna be a bit before I can think beyond the level of "Tree pretty. Fire bad."
  • @AChaoticKiller It's pretty rare to find hackers, lag switchers on console. I have encountered a person lag switching on PS4 only once. But yes, if you just google it, you will know that it is possible.
Only 1 on ps4? You're lucky then. I've lost count myself. Not many in DbD but in other games...
  • - My horror story -

Back before I started dodging based on ping and still cared about rank (about a year and a half ago), I faced a full P3 Squadette SWF group from overseas. They burned offerings to thicken the fog as much as possible, brought in 3 brand new parts, and 1 ultra powered flashlight.

What followed was the worst match I've ever played. Gen rushed, blinded, eating every pallet on the map as the flashlight wielding Claudette teleported around the map like the nurse (no scream, mind you, but there was the constant click, click, click). When I could see I was treated to more teabags then they had at the Boston Tea Party. Seriously, they all must have Buns of Steel after that many lunges.

After that match, nursing a massive headache from all the glaring white screens, I decided that playing at high ranks for...reasons(?)...simply wasn't worth it to me. I turned off DbD and played other games for months afterward. Occasionally logging on briefly on the 13th to watch my rank creep back up to 20.

I don't play as much as I used to before that match. The game just lost something in the blinding white light. I doubt I'll ever get into the red ranks again which, honestly, I'm perfectly fine with. I made it to rank 1 and I didn't get a t-shirt, a mug, or anything cool. Just a head-splitting headache and an aversion to things that click and P3 Squads of the same character.

I would like to be able to see how an item looks on a character, but some of the time, I can't get a good look because the character is facing mostly sideways. This is especially true with the survivor models, whereas the killers are angled a bit, but their outfits are mostly visible.

It would be nice to be able to rotate the character models to see the outfits from a specific angle before we buy them.

If only i could show you the video of the survivor that disconnected earlier just as i was about to kill the last one of them, I have some great survivor friends but people who do that are utter B*tches! Does anyone else think i should be able to share my video here including usernames in video to shame them ? As they tend to ruin a game as a survivor for their team mates more than anything!
I`m mainly a killer but i also hate when survs disconnect when i play surv.

No, I don't think you should be able to post the video here. I'm not a fan of rage quitters either but I hate witch hunts more.

Report it and move on. Hopefully they'll get a ban system in place on console soon.

Well from what I've seen. ngl I don't watch his stream very often, just the occasional YT video, and it's miles less toxic that someone like Pug, ochido, anyone that publicly encourages DCing to derank (or DCing in general).

I could be way off and he could actually be a mega-twat while streaming though lol.

Umm... except he hacked. Plus, he's the slimiest, cringiest SOB out there. God, the half hour long video where he tries to explain away his ban (because of hacking), with the most cheesy melodramatic music playing in the background... "I've been unjustly wronged!"
Honestly there is no bigger twat in dbd than him, including Ochido.

he hacked his legacy skin back and he really didnt even hack he went into the game files and gave it to himself because his account was reset and the devs did nothing to help him he literally has video proof of him getting the legacy. this was also a while ago

So, he hacked it. He tampered with the game files to do something the devs told everyone not to do. I get what you're saying, he earned it first...he still hacked it at the end of the day.

I used to be a Noob fan too. He doesn't deserve to be in the program.

Of course, more free stuff would be great. But you guys underestimate the killer lobby queues. Everyone will play killer.
I don't think que times for either side will increase that badly honestly. You have to play both sides to get the vials needed for the cosmetic after all.
  • It'd probably be plagued with the same issue of "I didn't get to play (fill in the blank), so I'm going to just DC" as F13 honestly.

I'd bail on the game pretty quick as well.

Can anyone give an example of how it would hurt?

    Missed $$ for this developer.

Alot of people would leave the game because it would be pay2win. The number of people who would leave the game for this reason alone would be quite large I imagine. I'm sure EA could ballpark a number. Que times would skyrocket overnight.

Alot of people would leave the game because part of the draw of this game for them is the grind. This drives the wait time up even further.

People, tired of waiting hours for a game, would find another game to play.

    This game dies completely.

At first, admittedly, they might turn a tiny profit off selling bps but they would lose more off future chapters and cosmetic item sells because who would buy DLC for a game no one plays?
I guess I am not understanding how buying blood points is pay to win? I could play for hours to level up a character to unlock a teachable and probably rank up in the process, or I could buy blood points to do the same thing (and not rank up, so I would still be rank 20).

I don't see how people buying blood points would effect q times since it doesn't affect rank?
Anytime you can pay money to gain any kind of advantage over another player in an online game it is pay to win. Yes, you can achieve the samething currently through farming. Being able to farm it, however, does not change the pay to win mechanic at all. It only adds witch hunting and bullying to the list of reasons not to introduce paying for bloodpoints.

Regardless of whether you agree with the opinion of paying for bloodpoints is pay to win or not, many people feel it would be. People are very passionate about anything that is, to them, pay to win (as they should be).

This passion would lead them to find other games as a form of protest against it being pay to win.

Less people in the game means longer que times.

Negative word of mouth means no one replacing those who left the game.

  • Wraith is OP for sure. First hit comes from nowhere and, with his speed while invisible, there's no point in trying to escape. Granted, he needs something but hitting while cloaked is ridiculously OP and not balanced.

IMO Trapper doesn't start to come out of the low tier til he has 3 traps at the start but, admittedly, I rarely play as him myself.

The hitboxes may need help in certain areas on certain maps but I think Huntress is okay.

The Pig's ambush idea...are you using it in mid-chase here? No heartbeat in crouch, faster movement speed coming out of it...people are gonna just string those together. Sounds like your making a nurse without a stun that can't phase through walls and has RBT. Sounds OP to me.

    Nightmare is a given.

I think your last suggestion is, at least in part, in the PTB but I don't play on PC so I cannot confirm.

In all honesty, what killers need is not stronger gimmicks, they need things that help them with map pressure.

If the host spawns in as a killer they don't like or with perks they don't like, they DC and the game ends. People will get frustrated and the mode becomes a ghost town.

They definitely exist. The devs have confirmed the hatch was not created by the Entity.

That confirmation doesn't really confirm Benedict is real. Only that the Entity didn't create the hatch and that the Entity may have a counterpoint.

A journalist can hardly make the hatch magically appear in front a survivor.

@Wolf74 I'll search for it, thanks for the heads-up.

Aretha had two videos about it. That's how I first heard of it.
  • Yeah. Enjoy it the way you want to. Play casually if that's what you're up to. And for sure the ranking system is terrible. A rank 1 killer going to survivor for the first time... Obviously they know how to play survivor. You watch people do it to you. It's not hard to mimic others gameplay. That's why I never understood why people take this game so seriously. I've watched 10,000 other survivors run the same loop as you do... Clearly I've learned how to do it. I'm not that type of player though. I just run and try to survive. If I die.. Then I die. Not a big deal.

I mean how could this game even be considered competitive in the slightest. Could you imagine a DBD tournament being commentated. "Oh and the killer has caught one of the survivors finally! Oh crap! Even though the survivor made a mistake... He gets to decisive strike free. The killer is back on his trail. Oh he dropped another pallet. Oh and an instant heal has gone off! In the 1 minute and 20 seconds of this chase already 3 generators finished." After a few more minutes... "The killer is finally going to get a kill. He got him down! Oh three teammates are surrounding the killer with flashlights that instantly blind him so he cannot get a hook on him anyway. And the games over."

There's like a lot of balancing issues with DBD before this could ever be considered "Ranked" play. So do your thing. You've only got 20 hours in the game. Well that means you'll improve. Even if you don't want to take it serious. Eventually you'll get really good. It's not a skill thing. Just about putting a little time in here and there.

There was an official tournament not long ago and the commentary was actually worse then you imagine it being.

  • Your title says it all really. Camping/tunneling will never be solved.

The change in the PTB makes me want to stock up on ingredients for s'mores (I'm not a huge fan of camping, but I dislike rank 1 survivors more) and your proposed change, while not without it's merits, makes me start thinking about slug builds which is number 3 (?) on most survivors complaint list.

True but those can be turned off as well.

They, literally, succeed doing simultaneous release once in 2 years. Pig was close but not quite simultaneous release.

Yes, console is different then PC and subject to bugs exclusive to the platform but I'd rather deal with those bugs then be 4 months behind the PC due to PTBs
Why would console be behind? Does no one actually understand the way testing works?
    I do.

PC they release the PTB instantly. Consoles have to have the code approved. This process takes up to 10 business days for new games usually. Taking the worst case though you're looking at 6 weeks. So at best, consoles would get access to the PTB after the PC version has concluded and is already a month behind PC as they'll get the post PTB first, right as console PTB concludes. Then we have to wait on the patch which is another 2 weeks, again at best, which is probably around the time the PC would get another patch.

Best case, we're 2 months behind. Worst, double it and that's the best of the worst case honestly because some regions had to wait 2 months on the clown.

As a killer main and with respect, I have to say you are wrong. SWF has little to no effect on the game balance in truth.

SWF is not the problem. Comms is the problem.

DbD was never designed, nor has it ever been balanced for comms. While, more often then not, SWF groups are on comms, not all are. Another thing to bare in mind is, depending on your platform, it can take 10 seconds to add a random player to a game chat.

Rather then touch SWF the devs need to give up the idea of balancing the game where comms is not taken into account.

I'm pretty sure when people say SWF they mean comms. Who plays SWF without communicating? I don't think taht having a separate room for SWF would work. I know if I play killer (only rank 9 but still) and had to choose between 2 modes, I would never do a SWF lobby. I'm pretty sure 90% of the killers wouldn't.
The real issue is that there is no legitimate way to prevent people from communicating. All it takes is a phone with any communication app and how would they be able to detect that?
I agree that SWF is incredibly frustrating but so far it's really hard to completely defeat it. I agree that maybe having people in SWF glow or something so you can at least dodge their games or play more defensively.

My friends and I dont always use comms when using SWF for the challenge from time to time and I doubt we're the only ones.

Just like I've been invited to chats when solo queing.

Hence why I don't see how displaying SWF groups would be a solution to the problem in anyway and so specific.

Something like "If a killer stays within x meters of the hooked survivor for x amount of time, other survivors gains x% in their repair, heal, sabotage actions, reseting the time to trigger this after x sec" or "if a killer stays for x time within x range of the survivor, the sacrifice will be worth half points, reseting the time to trigger this after x sec (then the bloodpoints of hooking, summoning and sacrificing will be only added after the sacrifice happens or the survivor is unhooked (by itself or others) and add a buff for survivors sacrificed outside of the x range, making the buffed risky sacrifice awarding more points than now and the safe sacrifice awarding less)."

The point of this is because the ridiculous killer who does it, specially in the first hooking, destroys the game for everyone. The ones that are safe doing gens, dont get so many points, the survivor hooked, gets basically nothing and even the ######### killer gets almost nothing, but he still manages to recover, depending on the speed of other survivors.

The killer who does it, mostly in the beginning, spoils the game. Makes it a true loss for everyone, not because the survivor will die, but because no one will get enough points, so a solution should be devised to avoid this behaviour the most and those are my ideas.

P.S: The killer losing time meanwhile the other survivors fix the gens is not punishment enough for this ######### behaviour.

The devs tried those already and survivors abused it.

  • It won't work for a few reasons.

One, they never installed monitors on their servers which is why SWF groups have to regroup when dodged. Without these monitors in place, the system cannot save a lobby before migrating it to another host.

Two, if it migrates to a survivor and that survivor dies in the match and leaves, the game ends for everybody. This is why it's set up the way it is.

  • Bue said:

Yeah my friends and I always wondered why it wasn't a feature in the game, and I had been watching the dev streams for a couple months but never heard the question asked by the community. It made me think there was a reason it couldn't be implemented, or that it was addressed a very long time ago and nothing could be done to fix it.

Gets my vote for the next quality of life feature I would like to see.

It was addressed in a stream in the past year or so. I don't remember the number of the stream at the moment though. I remember Mcote saying it was due to there not being an "overwatch" in place.

Basically, due to time constraints at the time SWF was tacked on, they never added monitors to their end which would save the survivor groups and to go back and add it, they would have to rewrite the net code.
  • Have you tried powering the Ps4 off and back on? Putting the Ps4 into sleep mode really messes with the app for some reason. Some people have had success with powering off/on.

Another thing you might try is renewing your licences in your profile. Those things always seem to need renewing on Ps4 for some reason. I know everytime I've lost access to games or DLC, Ive renewed those and it unlocks them again.
  • True story.

I tried being nice. Burned an offering and asked the survivors if they wanted to farm. I've got my hammer, I just want points. Rank means nothing to me. Figured I'd be nice and let the survivors get their cosmetic cause it takes more tokens and all the gen campers and what not.

If you can think of a four letter word, I was called it when I hooked a survivor. There were even some Spanish ones thrown in.

I learned my lesson. I'm done with this event.
  • I believe your heart is in the right place but that's a bad idea.

Going off this event 2 gens start as special so if everyone burns an event offering, all 7 gens would be special and there would be no defensive play against gens at all. Games would finish before a killer even found a survivor to chase. Not to mention killers would lose the points they get for damaging gens and you can forget getting that emblem.

Survivors would also lose points, emblems, and defensive plays as well.

I'm all for stomping out toxicity in events like this one but I don't think your idea would make things less toxic.
