  • I've got a few ideas that may help -

Have you checked to make sure there are no updates pending? That is often the cause.

    Might try rebooting the Ps4.

If you've done both of those, you might renew licences on your profile. Those things always need renewing on the Ps4.
  • It (supposedly) fixes frame rates, tinkerer 2 glitch, and Hag losing collision with survivors while carrying them.

Devs were to incompetent to realize that once their game becomes f2p on PS, there might be more stress for the servers. So they didnt prepare for that..... better get used to that if you plan playing DBD

Ah, so you've diagnosed the problem already, without even having access to anything on the devs' side? You must be quite the programmer.

Devs give us no information so we can only speculate.
Do you have any other reasonable speculations?

Could be an issue with their provider. If a fiber got cut and it fell over to a backup circuit, that backup circuit may not have the bandwidth to support the high traffic.

they'll be in the office in about 2 hours, hopefully they get this solved pretty soon.

^This. It's 7 AM where they live. Their work day must've ended just as the problem started, more or less. Believe it or not, but a problem doesn't fix itself.

So they launched the patch and went home?
Cause i had this problem since the patch.

"More or less". They probably didn't have enough time to figure out what the problem was before their work day was over. At least that's my guess, I can't know for sure.

Don´t they have night shift or extra hours in Canada?
    Just asking.

No idea. I'm not Canadian. Like I said, I'm just speculating. Were I a part of the dev team, though, given the bullshit and vitriol they have to withstand from a thankless community such as this, I wouldn't put in a night shift or extra hours when I could go back home to my BF.

Not to mention, it could be a hardware issue or an issue with their connection and they might be a the mercy of their vendor or service provider. Those can take days or weeks to fix.
  • Sorry. Had a meeting to get to.

Yes, I'm pretty sure initial cost would be close.

please read properly genius. i said, if person dc´s, host go to another person.

i played nearly 4k hours switch and i play mainly high ranked on both sides but more killer so far. for me its a real issue. it wont fix it but reduce it for sure.

    And again...

i think you missunderstood smth. tell me, why it isnt possible?

It won't work for the same reason SWF teams disband if the killer dodges or quits, there is nothing in place to save the group state and transfer that data over to a new host.

In order to put that in place they would need to overhaul the entire P2P system they are currently using which would require alot of $ and man hours and if they were to go that far, they might as well just get dedicated servers and leave P2P behind.

What can they really do with Myers though, the only other thing he was ever dressed in was a hospital gown and his boiler suit
In the new movie, his mask is older looking and tarnished. His outfit looks as if some years has passed, and not like he just got it from a prop store. The hair is ruffed up. So they could use that as a new skin, it would look great.

And for Laurie, why not make her older like the new movie too. Ace cant be the only silver fox around :)

There's also the version from the Rob Zombie movies.

    (Don't stone me. I know the movies are...terrible doesn't seem strong enough a word...but it's another idea.)

It's a nightmare to play this game currently on consoles, the framerate is all over the place going from 10 to 35, recently it keeps stuttering to 1fps, please devs to something, this is barely playable both as a killer and surv

I've also gotten plenty of crazy lag spikes or fps drops but the one consistent thing seems to be having opened that damn store before joining a match. I wish the shrine wasn't part of the store so I wouldn't have to go in there...

But, if it wasn't part of the store, how would Behavior advertise the new hot pink, leather, studded booty shorts for the hillbilly?
  • Considering how they have the P2P system set up, host migration will not work.
  • Having random hosts was/is a huge problem in F13. It helped to kill that game, I don't see how it could help DbD.

But for me is not to fair, many player play as killer disagree about killer blind because a flashlights and protest to developer and from developer do action to flashlights to nerf. For the camper, tunnel and patrol, until now not do some action about that.

They have tried a few times. Everytime they tried, the "fix" was abused by survivors and was reverted.

Well I hope at some point the Devs do somthing. I would high 5 the ######### out of them if they would only allow you to see killer build once match ends. I really think this would bring more diversity to the game and take some hate off of SWF. I dont think SWF should be removed but I do believe only the entity should know all.

A small step in the right direction would be to disable the HUD, status effect notifiers, the killer's perk screen and the ability to open the killer's profile from the scoreboard (until the match is over) for ONLY SWF survivors.

    But why only SWF survivors?

When I solo que in a survivor game, I get chat invites from the other survivors in the lobby.

Chatting in lobby and chatting during the game are two different things.

The invites are not for talking in the lobby though. I get what you're saying but I think you missed my point.

The point I'm trying to make is, being on comms is not exclusive to SWF. It takes no time at all to invite people into an in game chat. Solo que survivors should also have the info blocked until the game is over for that reason.

Endorsements, that's basically what I want for DbD! I seen actual evidence of it reducing 20 to 30% of toxicity from a game called "Overwatch" and I noticed that people are much more nicer ever since the endorsement update for Overwatch. Now, DbD has a great community but there are people who'll do anything to ruin your day! So here's my list of everything that should be in DbD's endorsement update if they ever decide to have one!

    Endorsement level:

1 level => level 2: 25 Endorsements to rank up
2 level => level 3: 50 Endorsements to rank up
3 level => level 4: 100 Endorsements to rank up
4 level => level 5: 200 Endorsements to rank up

Example: To rank up to level 2, you'll need 25 endorsements from other adventurers from the fog! SWF cannot endorse each other, people who aren't in a group with you can endorse you including the killer!

    Endorsement Types:

Good Sportsmanship: This player had great manners in their win or loss!

Example: The killer got destroyed by the survivors but was nice about the loss!
"GG, that was really fun even through I didn't get a sacrifice lol!"

Good Survivor/Killer: This teammate was helpful for the team and has done a lot to support us!

Example: This survivor saved a lot of people from the hook and did a lot of generators!
"Dude, you came in clutch with the hook saves! Your such a great teammate lol!"

Leader: (Killers can't endorse survivors with leader and vice versa) This teammate helped out by calling out objectives, killer's location, and etc!
"Thank you for letting me know where the killer was at!"

    Endorsements Rewards:

Reaching level 2: 250 Iridescent Shards and 500 XP
Reaching level 3: 500 Iridescent Shards and 1000 XP
Reaching level 4: 750 Iridescent Shards and 1500 XP
Reaching level 5: 1000 Iridescent Shards and 2000 XP

    Comms:

Every survivor will now have the option to join team chat and help communicate with the survivor team!

Endorsements reset back to level 1 after every season so you can keep earning rewards! :)

and why do we want voice comms in-game? So you don't even need SWF to have an ez match? That way you won't need Bond, Empathy or Kindred. So, that's a no to voice comms.

Adding voice comms to the game gives the devs a foundation to balance the game off of versus trying to buff solo que survivors up to the SWF level and throwing the game further out of balance.

I don't know. I am a nurse main and I am sure they won't endorse me.

As a Doctor main I'm sure mine would be a poop emoji. lol
  • I like the idea, but I don't see any killer making it to level 2. There's too many made up rules and it's asymmetrical.

Example -"The killer lost and handled it well but he/she camped (fill in the blank here) so I'm downvoting!"

Don't get me wrong, I know killers have their made up rules too, but numbers (3 up, 1 down because "they brought in a flashlight") give survivors hope of leveling up.

Again, I like the idea, just not sure it would work in an asymmetrical game.

So I have toxic games it's fine but how can I seriously report a group of survivors for going overboard? Today was a bad day for DBD and I was flat out bullied not just in game but outside the game too. I won't say names but these survivors made personal attacks and gave me death threats how can I report them and will the moderation team actually do anything?

I ask this because sadly.. I'm coming from lowtier console and I wanna know who do I talk to and I see the report function but... I want action taken against these people and their behavior over a game isn't right at ALL nothing not even my playstyle justifies them ganging up on me spamming my inbox with rude remarks so I'll ask in this post how can I report them and how can I see action actually be taken?

Which console was this on? You can report them to Sony or Microsoft.

Sorry for the late response PS4.

    No worries. Life happens. :)

Me too. I'd report the messages to Sony myself. They have been known to block people from PSN for sending death threats and what not. It's worth a shot.

  • All I know is, I'm on PS4 so I'm not expecting it until Fall/Winter 2121. *shrug* What can I say, I'm an optimist. XD lol
  • No they should not.

If your connected to the game via a potato and the lag will cause you to teleport around the map, I will dodge you rather then get accused of lag switching.

SWF must never be deleted. It was a great addition to the game, but it is true that it doesn't belong in the game. - Which is why it's important for the devs to tweak it and make it an organic part of the game.

In the end, it's not about killers asking for "ez pz games", just a more balanced experience.

We can all agree a more balanced experience would be nice, it's the way to get there that's so hard to agree on since both sides will want something that favors them.My concerns with buffing killers versus swf is the solo queue players will get wrecked, especially at low ranks.

I'm not sure you could base it on rank ranges since then both sides would try and exploit it by ranking up/deranking. But having a separate queue for ranked and casual play would be nice.

I still believe the only way to balance the game is to balance it based on 4 survivors on comms. If you were to try to "bring the solo survivor experience up to the level of SWF" as the developers want to do, people will exploit it and the game will be further unbalanced. Example - I want all the buffs of a solo but want to SWF. I can just room dodge til I get in a lobby with my friends like the old days before SWF.

Your concern about solo que survivors is a valid one though. My only solution would be to add an in-game, opt-in or opt-out communication system that would allow solo que survivors to join in with the SWF group. It's not a perfect solution, I know, but it's the best one I've been able to come up with. Any ideas are welcome.

I used to like the idea of a ranked and casual mode but could never get it to work. I was either "splitting the player base" or "multiplying problems". Mostly I was just told to "git gud" or "stop cryin"...you know, all the usual troll comments. I would like to hear your thoughts on it though.

  • Because buying perks with auric cells would be pay to win.
  • They just need to add in an in game communication system and balance the game around the survivors being on comms.
  • @Baphomett said:
I know there's a lot of hate for SWF, but I only play survs when I am in an SWF with friends and we go out of our way to NOT be toxic.  We always say gg even if the killer facecamped.

As a killer, I see just as much toxicity from solos as from SWF.

Honestly, SWF isnt the problem IMO.  Toxicity and a total lack of oversight or enforcement of "rules" around "bannable offenses" that is the real problem here.

I realize SWF gives a lot of advantages, but there is no way to get rid of it now.  70% of survivors are in an SWF, so removing it would only kill the game and the determined folks who stuck around would find ways to still play together and use comms.  Really, the devs just need to start balancing arou d the reality of SWF and make comms easy to opt-in for solos.

That's just my opinion.  You may now commence flaming.

    I concur entirely!

    I agree as well.
  • Not on the Steam Store page or Official Site does it say its stupposed to be 4 strangers. Stop making garbage up. The moment they added SWF in this game it became a multiplayer game for friends. Period.

While I will admit it does not say that on those two pages, the devs have said in their stream on more then one occasion that the game was conceived and balanced around 4 strangers entering a trial. SWF was tacked on a month after the game released due to high demand and to ease wait times (survivors rapidly dodging rooms to be paired with friends). There is also proof of this in the game itself as certain survivor perks are rendered useless in SWF (Bond springs to mind) and survivor groups having to re-invite when a killer dodges SWF groups (staying in a group would require them to make infrastructure changes on their end that could not be made quickly).
  • I had a thought like this one months ago -  Tie Killer rank to a mode where SWF was exclusive and Survivor rank was bound to only solo que. Expand the time between rank resets. Give exclusive cosmetic items based on rank held at the close of a season on each side.
  • zpxlcmv said:
I know we don't have the dlc yet but should I be doing high ping games in hopes I play a Europe killer whose the clown?

Yes, it is possible. I know a few people who have faced him in NA. I don't know what the ping was, but it is possible.

  • They should ban killers with connections like that.

But, if they did, how would he use the other 9000 hours of free dial-up internet access he has from AOL?

What do you think the killers upload speed is? I'm betting it's potato.
  • I think they were caught in a no win due to their spaghetti coding.

To explain why I think this - For some reason, they have to patch these events in. For most games, this is a simple server side change, no patch needed. DbD though, apparently does not operate this way. Before every event, there's been a patch. In all of those patch notes it said something about "prepped environment for ___ event". Don't know why DbD is different. I blame spaghetti code.

So, given the announcement, the "prepped environment" is probably in the code that passed certification already. If true then they were forced to either-

    A) What they chose to do.

    B) Wait for the event to end and DLC to pass, then try to patch in a new event quickly, which, yeah, can we all agree that wouldn't happen?

Or C) Remove the prep code, which would nullify the patch certification, they'd have to then start the process over again which could have meant another 3 week wait. Then patch in another event, which, again, I think we can agree would not happen quickly.

So, yeah, I think they painted themselves into a corner with it and, given the probable choices they had, chose the best option. Granted, it still sucks and the whole situation was handled...poorly doesn't seem to quite come close but I'm gonna keep the language family friendly...anyway, ramble over.
  • So it might not be out for the double BP event? Wonder if they postpone the event in that case?
Not_Queen said if the dlc was delayed, they would postpone the event for Ps4 only.
  • IF we get the update today (I doubt we will) the only time we can remotely guess is the store which updates in about 3-4 hours. There are no set hours for game updates however.
  • The patch is certified but they're waiting on the dlc to be certified before they'll release the patch. Could be today, tomorrow, or even next week. Not_Queen said that, should it be delayed til next week, the double BP weekend will be postponed (for Ps4 only) til necr weekend.

    *edit for typos
  • No one knows. Might be today. Might be tomorrow. Judging from Not_Queens post, it could be next week.

At this rate, I'm just gonna save my money, buy a PC, and get Civilization V cause I've heard it's a good game.
  • No one knows. Could be today...could be this week...judging from the post Not_Queen posted earlier, I'm thinking next week but it's anybodies guess at this point.
  • IF, by some miracle, PS4 gets the double blood point weekend this weekend, I'm gonna farm. No camping, high fiber diet.
  • Nothing says "celebrating my independence" more then blindly following a crowd and doing my part to ruin everyone's gaming experience.

Again, I'll pass. Camping, to me, is boring. I feel like I'm standing there waiting on a bus or the mail. If you enjoy it, more power to you.

I don't see why you made 2 threads for this.
  • Yeah, about that. I'm gonna pass cause I find camping boring.
  • How do you know it failed twice? Don't get me wrong, I can believe it, just wondering on your source.

My worry is that it failed and they decided to add in the double BP stuff out of fear it wouldn't certify in time for the event, thus causing the whole process of certification over at the beginning after X number of days had already passed.
  • I was wondering about that too. Maybe they're trying to weed out the fake accounts? I don't know.
  • FYI - the thread this was about, it's gone now.
  • For what it's worth, I reported it. 98% sure nothing will come of it, but it can't hurt.
  • Honestly, we're probably screwed.
  • It sounds like a waste of money/not do anything.
