  • 1 - I'm gonna have that song stuck in my head all day now. Thanks....lol

2 - Pinhead would be awesome but @Elegant is probably correct.

3 - Just when you thought this thread couldn't get any more random, someone randomly posts something wildly off topic about survivor perks...I don't know. It's just kinda there for...reasons? I guess? Not really sure.

    4 - I like pancakes.

  • A single player mode. If White Noise 2 can have one, why can't DbD?

  • @FangerBoy go to Settings>Online Safety & Privacy>Custom.

This should allow you to change it to Friends Only.

  • So - the only people using it will be 12 year olds who want to scream about how they just had carnal relations with another players mother, mouthbreathers who sound like they just ran up 12 flights of stairs, and people whose radios go up to 11 and are obsessed with the latest boyband...all of whom cannot be muted.

Meanwhile everyone else just keeps using discord so you can't hear them talk.

That's the worst plot twist I've seen since the last M. Night movie.

  • @TheBean said:

On the PS4... You said you recorded it... With what and how may I ask?

@TheBean the Ps4 automatically records the last 15 minutes of gameplay. I'm guessing they recorded it that way.

  • When sound is fixed

  • Console bans do work, yes. There is a particular streamer who I will not name who got banned on Ps4 not long ago. The video of him being banned is on YouTube.

The thing with DC's is...there's a system in place that if you DC a certain percentage of the amount of games you play, you get banned. The issue is, this unknown percentage, is really, really high (apparently).

Hopefully, when dedicated servers arrive, there will be a harsher punishment implemented.

The problem with punishment is that some survivors literally run to you after being unhooked.

    That is one problem.

Another would be if survivors select the same skins and run No Mither. How would a killer tell them apart? You'd have a 50% chance of guessing correctly or face a "severe punishment".

  • Mine is similar.

I got called a "Roaming gen camper".

Also I have been called a "Body camper" for slugging the third to try and use them as bate for the 4th.

  • I have a feeling that Alien and Predator have 0 chance of being added now due to the Predator game announced on Thursday. It is an asymmetrical, online only game being programmed by Illfonic (which means it's probably gonna be garbage but...).

"Survivors holding the hostage for many hours"

"Killer wait 4 min, because they want see this cool animation"

*devs will fix it after 1 week*

As someone who had their game taken hostage for hours on a few occasions prior to the release of EGC, if they cave to survivors complaining about 4 minutes, I'll be joining all my friends who have uninstalled this game.

  • @SlinkyJinky Slugging is not reportable.

I'm not defending it but reporting it is a waste of time.

  • 4 minutes is still a vast improvement IMO.

I once had a game that lasted at least 2 hours. Both gates were open but a P3 Claudette refused to leave and was playing a pure stealth loadout for the purpose of making killers DC (They even sent me a message telling me to DC).

The only reason I became a killer main was I was tired of the killer always DCing on me so it's something I refuse to do unless it's due to a glitch of some sort.

I literally left my game on and went to work because, yes, I'm subborn about it. I don't know when the match actually ended but, at some point, I guess they got bored and left.

And this was during the era where console bans didn't exist so...yeah...

While I agree that forcing a survivor to bleed out is a waste of time for all parties, 4 minutes is still better than 2 hours of a P3 Claudette duck walking around the darkest map in the game and making it so someone only gets 1 match.

  • It is not reportable

  • I would love some type of single player mode.

If White Noise 2 can have one (4-5 people on that dev team) why can't DbD?

  • I don't know why they did it now but it was a bad PR move IMO.

I wish they would have waited until after the mid-chapter patch.

  • The original 2 are the best ones honestly.

3 was pretty bad from what I remember. I mostly remember my friend commenting that a combustion engine will not continue to run once it's been completely submerged in water.

The Next Generation was an abomination of a remake. Even the big names attached couldn't save it.

The other remake was okay as was the prequel to that remake. Not great. Not terrible. Just meh.

Texas Chainsaw and the other prequel...I'd rather eat shards of glass and drink a laxative than watch them again.

  • If the killer closes the hatch, the gens are blocked and the exit gates are powered. If the killer does not close the hatch, the gens are not blocked and can be completed as normal. It has been confirmed by the devs in other threads here, Twitter, and reddit @kate_best_girl

That is rarely true @Trikset and @pushkina

    I don't camp.

    I don't tunnel.

I'd rather hit a survivor and let them jump in the hatch then stand motionless for hours.

Generally not a bad or disrespectful person.

Still have been told to off myself, shove certain killers/items/perks in various orifices (BBQ and Chili is still the funniest one I think cause, imagery), have been told to have "relations" with myself, bragged to about a survivor having "relations" with certain family members (some of whom have been dead for a few years...not sure why they wanted to brag about that but okay...), etc, etc, etc, more times than I can count.

On a rare occasion, I've gotten some nice messages but I can count them on one hand.

  • Can a killer close the hatch if the last survivor finds it first and decides to teabag on top of it instead of jumping in it?

  • Several end game perks are being reworked due to the end game changes. I'm sure blood Warden made that list.

Next patch I don't think is not coming till June 😳 long wait if so.. I think Easter weekend would be perfect for double blood point weekend due to holidays etc

@IronKnight55 I was p3 my pig and understand your pain lol also don't want to spend shards to buy some cosmetics at some point

    🐷

Mid chapter should be mid to late May actually. PTB for that should be around Easter if they're keeping the same 6 week schedule as before. Which would be good. Allows for more people to test it.

If they do a double bloodpoint event before making the game playable, it would be a waste of time.

Just like the free weekend was.

  • My guess would be shortly after the mid chapter patch.

Fix alot of the bugs that drove people away, bring them back with a bloodpoint event and hopefully retain them.

  • I know 4 killer mains that have stopped playing DbD until various bugs get fixed including this very issue.

As far as I know there is no way to fix it anywhere. I've tried changing the settings on my TV and it still looks like I'm viewing things from inside Chewbacca's buttcrack cause it's all dark and fuzzy.

Throw in the sound issues and it becomes The Helen Keller Simulator.

Hopefully the mid chapter patch will fix some part of this issue.

  • An interesting idea.

I have a question though @Poweas - Would you want to make it so that if a survivor runs No Mither, they would be immune to the debuff? It's not a good perk currently IMO and having a permanent debuff added to it makes it less desirable for sure.

  • I agree with the OP.

I stopped playing the game when the bugs got out of hand and, as a consequence, stopped buying DLC for it. I mean, DLC is nice but, when you don't play the game...it's like putting a spoiler on an elephant. Looks neat but completely pointless.

I'll happily return and spend money to get The Plague and Ash (kinda pointless as I never play survivor but I like the character) when they fix most of the bugs and I can stop referring to DBD as The Helen Keller Simulator.

  • Well, thanks to all the survivors who seem to be struck with uncontrollable diarrhea anytime they accomplish even the simplest of tasks like throwing down a pallet, standing on a hill, staring longingly at an open door, etc, etc...I've learned to not be afraid of any medication that's side effects include complete renal failure.

Yes. Thanks to DbD, I might have explosive diarrhea...but I'm no longer clinically depressed about it. 😁👍💩

  • Back, long ago, when I was still a survivor main I ask someone who openly admitted to camping ever hooked survivor the exact same question. The response I got to my question was simply that they enjoyed it and it was fun for them.

My takeaway was that fun is subjective or as Alfred said -

"Some people just like to watch the world burn Master Wayne."

  • @DwightsLifeMatters I have to ask, have you remembered to praise the sun today? ;) lol

In all seriousness though, I glitched through the ground before in DS1 and got stuck in a corner once or twice over my play throughs. They're not completely free of bugs that won't lead to unfair deaths but they are not as common as...some other games...

  • @RSB While I cannot argue that point, I'd take potato A.I. over 20 minute wait times between lobbies like we currently have as the norm.

@BACKSTABBER True but you cannot choose who you play as and, aside from the first time reward or to check to see if sound levels are still all over the place like my drunk uncle trying to drive himself home on New Years...or a Tuesday...he has a problem..., there's very little reason to do so. You can't try out a new killer or perks.

  • What @RSB said.

Which is sad cause, honestly, this game needs some form of offline in my opinion.

  • I've been at a 6 since Legion dropped due to all the bugs that the new engine brought with it.

  • Could be more people playing survivor then killer due to the new survivor? Just throwing the idea out there. I'm not playing currently due to bugs and sound issues.

  • I hear half of what he's saying cause the sound is all over the place and I had to turn off the menu music to hear that much.

  • It's a recolored glove like @MojoTheFabulous said. It has blue on it instead of red. Nothing special.

  • Even though I am not counted in the number of people represented in the information given (Ps4 player here), I haven't played the game in weeks.

My reasoning for this boils down to poor customer service ultimately.

It started with sound and overall performance. With the introduction of the new engine, sound was terrible, frame rate was worse, scratch Mark's were busted, and graphics were too dark. This made survivors difficult to find and games to be even more frustrating. Furthermore, it promoted a style of gameplay that I find boring (camping and tunneling) in order to get even 1 sacrifice. Frustrated and bored after a single night, I logged off and played something else and awaited the next patch.

6 weeks later, after seeing the new patch download, I logged in again. Frame rate is still busted. Scratch marks are alittle better. Sound is better except for Haddonfield. Still too dark. I logged off and started another game.

6 weeks later, I'm playing another online game which has a game breaking bug that got patched in 4 days...4 days...when the new chapter drops. Log on, read the patch notes, play the tutorial because, after 12 weeks of basically not playing I'm bound to be rusty. Sound is a mess again. Graphics are dark and fuzzy. Back to the other game for me for the next 6 weeks at least...

The issues that caused others may be different, but I doubt I'm the only one sitting on the sidelines between patches.

Sorry. That got long winded so...

tldr - In my opinion, 6 weeks is too long between patches to fix issues in some cases (example - 6 weeks to work on sound issues is bad, 12 is horrible, 18 is just inexcusable). I believe that the developers should, in light of the new engine implementation, suspend the 6 week patch schedule temporarily so they can patch certain issues in a more timely manner.

Anyway, that's my story and my opinion. Thanks for reading. I'll see you all in...June(?)...

  • In my experience @HeroLives on Ps4, many survivors have stretched the terms camping and tunneling to mean basically anything the killer does.

I got called a "roaming gen camper" for patrolling the gens after a survivor DC'd early in the match.

Was also accused of "tunneling" for downing a survivor in the first chase of a match for which they DC'd.

  • No. Unfortunately you must start over again.

Pubg does indeed have a PTB on PS4, take it from me, I have the actual game.

I stand corrected. Thank you for the information AlphaJackson. I wonder how they got around Sony's "no ptb" stance though. Maybe Sony softened their stance? Very interesting.

  • There are alot of reasons it will never happen. Not the least of which is Sony and Microsoft both saying no to it. PUBG is kind of an odd case as it gets a PTB on Xbox but not PS4. This is most likely do to the publisher though (Microsoft publishes PUBG on Xbox).

Microsoft and Sony, if they were to even entertain the idea, would probably treat it like a new game and would review it as such. Average review time on a new game is 10 to 15 business days or 2 to 3 weeks (if everything passes). The PTBs usually last 2 weeks. So console would get the PTB after the PC, thus postponing the release of the DLC on consoles in turn as they can only submit one code for review at a time with both companies.

I believe cost might also play a factor as both companies charge for these reviews (cost determined by size of the file submitted according to my research into this and other related topics. Not a ton of info out there, but there is some).

I wish it was feasible because, as stated, PC, PS4, and Xbox are all different and a minor bug on PC can make the game unplayable on the other 2 but, sadly, it's not.

  • Must be reported in game on the end game totals screen (this is not optional).

Then you can submit a ticket here (this is optional) -

    https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

  • Why didn't you just leave via the gates that are obviously open like everybody else instead of just standing there in the first place?
  • Lag switching is common, but they can’t do anything that PC can do such as speedhacking.. thank god.
@PinkEricka That's not 100% true. It is possible to hack a console. It is harder to do and requires a bit more effort and, therefore, extremely rare but not completely impossible.
  • After rereading your proposed changes, my core issue was with giving survivors kindred 3 as a passive skill.

Giving a buff to all survivors, buffs SWFs as well as Solos. It doesn't bridge the gap in my opinion.

That said, after re-reading the NOED change and passive for the killers...if enough survivor mains will agree to that exchange...we could try it out for science...as long as when they ask for it to be reverted the kindred gets reverted as well...

...and they will ask for it to be reverted...

    (Evil laugh)

In all seriousness, your heart is in the right place. You're not giving buffs to just one side and not completely ignoring balance. I just don't think this is the way to go.
  • I'm sorry but I don't think buffing survivors this way closes the gap so much as widens it because it buffs SWFs even further. With this system, they no longer have to relay map information (Example - "The killer is over by me near (landmark)" vs "Killer's over here"(teabagging)). It's just a buff to another buff that has extremely limited counter play (nurse/hillbilly) in exchange for a perk that already has alot of counter play (cleanse a totem that's hidden on top of a hill in plain sight 90% of the time.

The only way to truly close the gap is to add in an opt-in, opt-out in games communication system (not proximity) and balance killers around that.
  • Plu said:

They could fix it by making killers choose to face SWF or not and also give them more BP in return because they decided to play with an handicap.

@Plu The problem with that is that no one will opt-in. Extra BPs isn't worth the headache honestly and, eventually, even those that take the bait would opt-out. This would drive SWF que times up which will lead them to re-queing until they are put in a lobby with their friends, driving killer que times up, and bringing the imbalance back.
  • I believe we will see in game comms added at some point because think back to all the things they've said no to in the past like in game comms -

    Dedicated servers? No.

    Killer clown? No.

    DbD on Nintendo Switch? No.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic but their track record of saying no only to do it later is pretty established at this point. I just wonder if it will come soon enough or if it's too late.
  • My list -

Balance the game with comms in mind.

Rework the end game so games cannot go on for hours once the gate is open.

Make the hatch less appealing. It's supposed to be a last chance, not a reward.

    Fix the sound.

Fix it so it's not a slideshow on consoles.

    Fix totem placements.
  • You know you're helping the killer get more points by DCing, not hurting them...

When you DC they get quitter points for your DC and they now have time to find, catch, and camp the next survivor as opposed to you distracting them and buying the others time to fix the gens and escape and thus costing the killer points.
