Damn these are not the thoughts I thought I’d be having at 1 AM.
Me either.
Now I'm sad, thinking of all the people I've seen leave and how little I got done with my console crusade.

Doesn't artist do exactly what anti-loop killers are supposed to do? Where's the forum post about doctor being too oppressive and needing to be reworked because I can't drop the pallet or vault the window? Behavior should just remove the option to play killer and have only bot killers that don't do any damage. Then survivors could just loop and get chased until they get bored and leave.
Because you can play a loop against a Doctor. It'll take them a bit to catch you.
You really can't play a loop against the Artist. If she puts down a bird, you have to run away.

"Huntress is too hard to aim."
So in other words, you refuse to learn the killers you don't want to play and therefore think they are weak? The logic of killers is astounding. I can name so many Huntress players that absolutely stomp on survivors every day. Most the killers in this game require you to actually practice playing that killer.
I think the problem lies in the fact that you don't want to spend more time learning or getting better at these killers, therefore they are weak to you.
Console Huntress is rough.

Oh yes. Especially that loading screen. My playstation dies and revives every time it starts. Remember to take breaks on the forums and Orion is always with you. In there *points to your colon*
I tried my best.
I managed to obliterate the previous record for largest Forum thread here, but I feel as if I accomplished precious little.

Recently, it's been getting more and more difficult to enjoy this game and to look over the glaring issues. The Console port of DBD has shown that the game is extremely poorly optimized, and performance will continue to get worse unless BHVR addresses the issues now.
I fear that soon, the game will become unplayable for us on current-gen Consoles. Resident Evil broke the game for a month, and it still hasn't fully recovered. What this shows is that the issue is built into the game itself, and will likely continue to worsen if it is not resolved. Likewise, we are seeing the return of bugs long thought patched, which makes me suspect that the entire code is starting to crumble under the weight of the game. I hope BHVR takes the time to do this correctly and fixes their game. If they do not, I fear we will soon lose the ability to play it at all.
Here are some videos demonstrating my points, please note that these were all taken PRIOR to the RE patch in June of 2021. These issues have been plaguing Console players since the game was ported in 2017. I doubt there will ever be an official confirmation from BHVR, but it is important that we do not let these issues go silently. The only thing we can do is continue to talk and spread awareness about them.

August Edit: Well, we are nearing 100 pages. Congrats everyone. We still haven't gotten an answer from BHVR about what happened to Optimization, but we have inspired others to start to question it. I've furthered clarified the purpose of the thread and adjusted some of the language used in this opening statement to better reflect that.
Thank you.

I feel like the fun of they player using the thing should be considered first.
Artist isn't particularly fun to play as either.
The second you place a bird, Survivors hold W.
Far be it from me to tell you shouldn't have fun. Just not my cup of tea.

I don’t agree with this. Both Freddy and Wraith got the wrong end of the nerfstick. Though Freddy was really unfun, he didn’t deserve that. It was more because of his design.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2712515#Comment_2712515
These are proposed with 100% certainty of course. I just believe that by design, The Artist is not good. Her power can create scenarios in which a survivor can’t really do much. I don’t think her power should be 100% avoidable all the time, super slow, but I think she needs some tweaks that scale back some of these frustrating mechanics— and of course, she should be compensated.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2712418#Comment_2712418
This isn’t a dedicated rework suggestion, they’re just some ideas. I feel like we’ve interacted enough for you to know this Gann lol.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2712411#Comment_2712411
If I WERE to propose something in return, WITH the clarification that not all of these need to happen, and that I’m not proposing something like this with 100% certainty (they’re just rough suggestions— which is why i didn’t put this in feedback), I say something like having her crows speed up even more with distance, slightly reduced power cooldown, etc.
What are your ideas for compensation?
-
@thefallenloser said:
While I understand people saying that The Artist is unfair and at times unfun to play against, she is not overpowered, though she’s a bit close to it.
The Artist has a few annoying mechanics that at times can create binary decisions for survivors, or put survivors in lose/lose situations. Putting a crow at certain loops can make it completely useless, forcing those survivors to run away. If the loop is small enough, the survivor won’t have enough distance, and they’ll be hit anyways.
Her hook defense is equally as annoying and oppressive as Hag’s as well, allowing her to either keep survivors off of it for a while, or force them to reveal themselves early by running through the crows, otherwise, both the unhooker and unhookie will be hit by the crow.
Cross-mapping survivors with crows can also feel frustrating at times, though much of this is due to the seemingly large hitbox the crows have. Sometimes it feels like there isn’t ample time to move out of the way of those crows because they cover such a wide area. It feels like The Artist is just getting free hits if she has another crow.
Here are some of my suggestions to scale back on some of these frustrating mechanics to make her a bit more healthy, while retaining as much of her strength as possible.
- crows within 20 meters of a hooked survivor immediately dissipate when the survivor is unhooked (this includes crows that are moving)
- reduce the width of the active crow hitbox by 30%, forcing The Artist to be more accurate with her shots
- Increase the duration of the movement speed penalty after The Artist places a crow by 1 second.
yeah i can tell i’m going to be yelled at
I'm going to be considerate and ask for justification considering the fairly heavy-handed nerfs you are proposing.
-
I'd honest to God just say wait.
It's not a great time to learn Killer and I'd honestly warn against playing the role at all.
-
@zarr said:
There's no validation happening here, validation only comes into play if you actually hit the survivor on your screen. She DHs before your swing reaches her even on your screen, upon which her hitbox disappears, so your swing registers on the only valid target, the pallet, breaking it, letting the rest of her DH dash continue forward instead of getting blocked by the pallet.
Dead Hard was changed in that patch. Blight used to be able to swing through Dead Hard, since he had so muxh momentum and speed.
Now it will cancel his lunge as if he hit something.

Ah, wasn't implying anything about the larger state of the game. Just getting it in before the inevitable "you're lying and will be back in a few weeks" accusations these sorts of things attract.
Maybe i will.
I have no intention or interest in returning to Killer, but I could, if certain things change

I don't think they are intentionally Survivor-biased.
But there is no way Circle of Healing should have ever made it to the PTB, much less to live.

If you’ve reached your peak then maybe a break is in order.
I am not gonna disagree that to an extent there is some stress involved playing killer, but to say it’s always stress and no reward? I can’t say I share that same experience.
There are certainly elements that this game has that are outright not enjoyable. Most of the time I find that in solo queue. Because I have 0 control over my other teammates. Which is why I still love playing killer over solo queue survivor.
I know all of us have different experiences and that’s why I understand the frustration to an extent.
I'd rather play Solo Q over the absolute nightmare that is Killer. I have to micro-manage 4 other people. I have to remember where they put their boons. I have to make sure those totems don't stay up. I have to manage gens. I have to make sure my chases last under 20 seconds. It's just too much.
At least in Solo Q, I know it isn't my fault (usually I'm still ######### at Survivor).
As Killer, everything I do is wrong unless I steamroll, in which case it wasn't much of a fight.

Because it used your higher end killers to give you that since you don't ever play her. It's like you just started her which is what the screenshots mentioned will happen. I bet if you lost like 10-20 games you'd have matches against potatos while your other killers would stay the same. That's what happened to me when I purposely lost a ton as Huntress and now I get nothing but crappy people. I want to point out again, that I don't think it should work that way but it's exactly how the Mods have said it worked.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2711159#Comment_2711159
I think the biggest issue is that we don't know our MMR and how far it pulls from but also, that's as survivor. I'm talking killer.
You and your pals could have had 1900 while the new people are at 1200 and the killer is only like 1550 even with more hours then you guys. It should not work that way and the fact it seems to is worth it's own topic. Still, it's exactly how the mods have described MMR so in that regard MMR does work as they say. It's just not a good system.
Once again, I'm not arguing MMR is good/bad. My main point is saying OP's data is meaningless to show why MMR is good/bad.
Oh, cool, so in order to get tolerable matches, I just have to purposefully throw 30 games.
Great.
-
I like all of these.
I'd rather see Undetectable as a whole just remove sounds from Killers entirely.

Accept if you're going by that then it'd be okay for me to always 4k with Spirit because I always 0k with Huntress thus a 2k average. That would mean MMR is working by that logic but that's not how this MMR works.
I'm unironically pretty sure that's exactly how it works.
Some games are simply unwinnable.
Back maybe, 3 weeks ago, me and my friends had a string of 3 really good matches. Good teammates, good Killer, all around really fun. The only problem? We 3 man escaped every match.
The next few matches consisted of teammates who were booting up the game for the first time (I can show screenshots of that) and Killers with thousands of hours more than US.
I'm unironically positive the system takes broad data over individual matches. If you win three matches in a row, it will try its damndest to make sure you lose three in a row.

No I didn't and I don't know what your point is. I'm not trying to argue whether MMR works great or doesn't. I said OP's data wasn't worth anything because there is separate MMR for each killer. Pulsar then said it amounts to nothing if separate MMR does exist which in my experience isn't true as far as playing multiple killers over time go. Experienced people playing new killers works differently and that should be tweaked.
So again, my main point is that while OP's data is fun to look at, it doesn't mean anything when trying to argue that MMR does or doesn't work as they only played a couple games with most killers. If they had done 50 games with a single killer and had similar results then that would be much better in trying to prove their point.
I can load up my stream right now and play Hag, someone who I have leveled up to like, level 15 and I can show you the shitshow that will follow.
I can't play Hag. I have none of her achievements. I have put zero time into her.
I bet I'll get the same matches as I would when playing someone I can play.

-
It depends on what you are looking for.
Strength, perk usability or fun.

NOED just punishes Solo Q players whilst not doing anything to SWF....
So unless you really struggle against Solo Q, I'm not sure why you'd run it.

Maybe but it doesn't change the initial point that having a mixed pool of killer data means just as little. Unless you're trying to say there isn't separate MMR in which case I heavily disagree.
If there is, it matters very little.
I played a game as Nemesis, someone who I have put a considerable amount of time into and I got a good 4 man. They definitely pushed me to play my best.
I BOUGHT Freddy after that game. I had never played him before. I didn't even level him up. I queued for a match and was nearly instantly put into a lobby with the same 4 people.
I also did this with Pig on a separate day.

@ohheyitsbobcat said:

Every killer has their own separate MMR value. If I took two back to back games where I 2k'd and tried arguing MMR works would you agree? Of course not which is the point here since most of your games are only with each killer 1 or 2 times.
Every single killer has to be taken as a separate value for W/L. You can't mix them together in a single pool and then say MMR does or doesn't work since they're not meant to be taken together.
Separate MMR is basically meaningless, I've pretty much confirmed it.
-
I still play Killer.
I do have to admit, I'm not really having an enjoyable time though.
EDIT: I do not play Killer anymore.

But why were they changed in the first place, my dear sweet Pulsar? If it was so confusing for everyone, and there were no legal challenges involved, why change them at all? And why not revert them to the names we all knew?
Probably because there was a legal issue with people who didn't buy the DLC owning perks of the same name, but it was too complicated to have two sets of perks that did the same thing, just with different name; so BHVR decided that it'd be easier this way.

Because in the contract it's very likely the details were something along the lines of "The perks for Steve Harrington will be named Babysitter, Cameraderie, and Second Wind". This would then stipulate that when the contract was lost the perk names had to be changed
This is purely speculation however it's the most likely answer, and occam's razor.
The post above was in response to the decision to completely remove the original names of the perks. It was originally stated that people who owned the DLC would not see a change, but because of "confusion" they decided to switch it up.
So, it seems unlikely the names were changed because of a legal issue.

Very committed and long time Bligh main here, and I have to say, as much as I love doing it, Blight flicking is not fair for a couple reasonable. First of all, it makes most of the tiles unplayable for survivors, especially when running Blighted Crow.
Secondly, it put PC players "richer" (I don't mean rich people, just players who can afford to spend a lottle bit more than others) people at an advantage, let me explain: The first thing I mentioned is pretty easy, controllers can't do that, so if you're a console player you can't do that. The second reason is that in order to Blight flick (as far as I know) you need some specific features on your mouse, such as a sensitivity clutch and of course, only more expensive mice have that (since you also need a decent mouse software too). I'm currently using a Basilisk v2 with a button that higher my DPI only when and while it's pressed from 600 to 1200. I know that you could apply the same logic to PC components, that the better your computer is, the more frames you have, the better you can perform, but let's just not extend this privileges more :).
I'm speaking about default flicking, not about using external modifications.
